"Sorry, I don't eat."
"What?" Rylai stared at the Outworld Devourer with big eyes, unbelieving. "Why?"
"Because I don't have to. My body consumes the energy of the universe so I don't need food to function."
"What?" This was clearly a concept too foreign for the Maiden "How?". Lanaya found it highly fascinating. A subject to learn more about.
The Devourer shrugged. "Just like that."
"And you have never had anything edible? Say, to find out how it tastes?"
"No, never. Why should I?"
If possible, Rylai's eyes got even bigger. "Because food is awesome! Delicious. It's a treat not only for the body but also for the soul!" It was like that, for her. She didn't eat overly much, but she enjoyed eating. Sweet titbits. And snacks. And cake. And so on. "Oh, how you missed out…" She rummaged through her basket and pulled a few items out. Sweets of different types. She wanted to pass them on to the Outworld Devourer, but the creature just eyed Rylai's hand sceptically.
"Come on, you can't go all your life without having at least tasted some of the best sweets in existence." When the Devourer didn't move, the Maiden pursed her lips slightly. "Please?"
With a sigh, the creature took the sweets, then stared at them in his hand. "You sure this is something to eat? It looks rather strange."
"They are awesome." She just wanted to leave, but stopped mid turn. "Oh, you have to unwrap some of them. You can't eat the paper around the actual thing."
When Lanaya and Rylai mounted their griffin, the Outworld Devourer was still standing at his door, poking at the things in his hand. He didn't seem convinced about eating them. Just before they flew off, he looked up and Rylai waved at him. The creature waved back and something like a smile ghosted over his lips.
It was a miracle, how the Crystal Maiden got every single creature to do her bidding and to be kind and friendly towards her. Well, almost every creature. It was amazing.
