Mars, The First Son of Heaven grinned and it was rather frightening, even though Rylai and Lanaya had fought by his side before and knew that grin. He was a human-like creature but his grin was too wide and showed too many too sharp teeth. It was always the moment she was reminded he was no human at all.
"You want sweets from me? Have you thought it through?"
"What is there to think about?" What a strange question. It was Halloween and the Crystal Maiden wanted sweets.
Now the huge creature leaned forward, making Lanaya, who was standing next to Rylai, change her stance the tiniest bit. It was the change from 'let's see what comes next' to 'I'm ready for whatever you might dish out'.
"I'm not a mere human. I don't have mere sweets. You might be immortal because of some strange magic, but I am the First Son of Heaven. What I eat might as well kill you."
"Is that a threat?" Lanaya was absolutely calm.
"No!" The First Son of Heaven shook his head, grin gone. "I'd never! It's just a warning, because I like our little Maiden here and as I said, I don't think she has thought it through."
Rylai hadn't. Why would there exist sweets she wasn't supposed to eat? "I want to try some."
Mars booming laugh shook the walls. "Of course you want that. I should've guessed as much. Give me a moment."
"You want to eat sweets of which he said they could kill you?" Lanaya was incredulous.
"Why not? I doubt it'll kill me, it can't be that bad. And I'm curious. Aren't you?"
"No." Flat out and without doubt. Lanaya crossed her arms in front of her chest and stared at Rylai. Who shook her head with an exasperated sigh. "Spoilsport."
