"I wonder what their message is," Weiss frowns. "Will they continue their facade or demand what they need outright?"

Ruby shakes her head. "We still don't know what they need. The Slitheen probably won't want to tell their plan publicly, especially after their brother died,"

"The Doctor will probably figure it out first," Yang smirks. "Then he'll stop them."

"From within a locked cube?" Blake asks. "I hate to say it, but the odds do not seem to be in his favor."

Qrow nods. "Yeah, but it's when your back is to the wall when you find people do their best."

"He's not technically 'people'," Ruby mumbles.

Green steps outside and into the light of dozens of cameras flashing. Asquith follows him closely, and armed soldiers do so in turn for him "Ladies and gentlemen," he begins. "Nations of the world. Humankind. The greatest experts in extra-terrestrial events came here tonight. They gathered in the common cause, but the news I bring you now is grave indeed."


Mickey, still covered in the remains of Sip Fel Fotch, steps into his living room with a towel. His telly is on, displaying Green's proclamation.

"The experts are dead, murdered right in front of me by alien hands."

"Technically true," Weiss sighs. "But they probably won't mention it was by their own."

"They'll probably blame it on the Doctor," Yang grumbles.

"Peoples of the Earth, heed my words. These 'visitors' do not come in peace."

Jackie walks in, still holding the phone. Mickey takes it away from her and points it to the T.V set. "Listen to this."


"Our inspectors have searched the sky above our heads and they have found massive weapons of destruction capable of being deployed within forty-five seconds."

"What?" the Doctor scoffs as he listens to the broadcast.

Blake scrunches her nose. "Why would they tell them this? If the Slitheen really did, why would they bring awareness to it?"

"To make them even more scared," Ruby realizes. "He just gave planet Earth a physical target."

"Our technicians can baffle the alien probes, but not for long. We are facing extinction unless we strike first! The United Kingdom stands directly beneath the belly of the mother ship. I beg of the United Nations. Pass an emergency resolution. Give us the access codes. A nuclear strike at the heart of the beast is our only chance of survival, because, from this moment on, it is my solemn duty to inform you planet Earth is at war."

"Hate to say it," Qrow grumbles, swirling the alcohol in his flask, "but he makes a good speech."

The speaker goes silent as Green's 'warning' ends. "He's making it up," the Doctor explains, leaping up from his seat. "There's no weapons up there, there's no threat. He just invented it."

Harriet Jones clutches the strap of her purse. "Do you think they'll believe him?"

"Yep."

"Absolutely."

"Most definitely."

"Duh!"

"Well, they did last time," Rose frowns.

"That's why the Slitheen went for spectacle," the Doctor realizes. He begins to march back to the door. "They want the whole world panicking, 'cause you lot, you get scared, you lash out."

"They release the defense codes," Rose starts.

The Doctor nods. "And the Slitheen go nuclear."

"But why?" Harriet Jones asks.

"They want the nuclear weapons," Blake summarizes. "Possibly to sell the uranium?"

"I don't see why else they would want these weapons," Weiss agrees.

Opening the false outlet cover, the Doctor presses the button hidden underneath once more. The doors slide open and reveal a small number of Slitheen guarding the door.

The Doctor glares at them. "You get the codes, release the missiles. But not into space, 'cause there's nothing there. You attack every other country on Earth, they retaliate, fight back. World War Three. Whole planet gets nuked."

"Oh, my Gods," Ruby gasps. "Why?"

"All those people. Gone," Weiss whispers.

Curling herself into a ball, Blake begins to shake. "They would start a war? With these weapons? But why?"

Yang's eyes go red. "All for money," she growls.

"The first ones to die would be the lucky ones," Qrow mumbles. "They'd vaporize without knowing what happened afterward. But when the other countries retaliate… Everyone would know it'll be the end."

The Librarian nods and crosses his arms. "Mutually Assured Destruction."

Margaret steps forward between all the alien bodies, still wearing her human skin. With a smile, she nods, "and we can sit through it, safe in our spaceship waiting in the Thames. Not crashed, just parked. Only two minutes away."

"But you'll destroy the planet," Harriet Jones gasps. "This beautiful place. What for?"

"Profit."

Rose and Harriet turn to the Doctor with confusion in their eyes. He continues, saying, "that's what the signal is beaming into space. An advert."

"The sale of the century," Margaret smirks. "We reduce the Earth to molten slag, then sell it. Piece by piece. Radioactive chucks, capable of powering every cut-price starliner and budget cargo ship. There's a recession out there, Doctor. People are buying cheap. This rock becomes raw fuel."

The Doctor growls. "At the cost of five billion lives."

"Hmm!" she giggles. "Bargain."

"You… MONSTERS!" Yang screams.

"I give you a choice. Leave this planet or I'll stop you."

This time, Margaret doesn't stop at a giggle. She lets out a loud laugh, her Slitheen brethren quickly joining in. "What?" she asks. "You? Trapped in your box?"

"Yes," the Doctor answers, glaring, unblinkingly, into the woman's eyes. "Me." He presses the button once more, closing the doors as Margaret stares back in anger.

"How, though?" Ruby asks, her voice small. "How can he stop worldwide destruction without any help?"

"He's got Mickey and the security case," Yang offers.

"But Harriet said they were useless. And what can Mickey do? It's a bomb!"


The sun has risen upon the British Isles, and Tom Hitchenson continues his report from the Thames. "Yesterday," he reports, "saw the start of a brave new world. Today might see it end. The streets are deserted. Everyone's home, just waiting, as the future is decided in New York."


"It's midnight here in New York," a new voice declares as a large rectangle-shaped building is seen glowing against the dark sky. "The United Nations has gathered."

"That was quick," Qrow comments. "Why this place?"

"It's where the U.N meets," the Librarian explains. "And they are expected to meet this quickly in case of an emergency like this. Not necessarily an alien attack, but something that costs lives."

"England has provided them with absolute proof that the massive weapons of destruction do exist. The Security Council will be making a resolution in a matter of minutes. And once the codes are released, humanity's first interplanetary war begins."


Inside Mickey's flat, Jackie and Mickey watch the telly. The young man, unable to rest, gets up from his chair and runs off. Jackie remains still, sniffing as she, and millions of other viewers around the world, await the Security Council's vote.

"Everyone's waiting," Weiss whispers.

"How many people are going to vote?" Ruby asks.

The Librarian pauses. "Almost 200."


Green and General Asquith march back inside 10 Downing Street and head back upstairs. The acting Prime Minister pauses only to talk to the guard in front of the door. "Sergeant!" he orders. "We'll take the call in the Prime Minister's office. Maintain your positions. And good luck." He holds out his hand, which the officer quickly shakes before snapping into a salute. The trio of disguised aliens quickly rush upstairs and begin to laugh.

"Oh, look at that!" Margaret gasps in giddy as they open the door to the PM's office. "The telephone is actually red!" She strokes the cords as Asquith shuts the door behind them.

"How long till they phone?" Green asks with a smile, jumping onto the chair and releasing a loud fart.

Asquith runs over, shaking in excitement. "Counting down…!"

"I cannot believe there are creatures like this," Yang growls. "Who will do anything for a cheap lien."

Weiss' face goes dark. "They don't just exist in this universe. My father is like this."

"But you aren't," Blake whispers, grabbing her friend's hand. "You know the true value of life. And you'll fix your family's company."

"But… After everything we did. To the Faunus… How can we?"

Ruby hugs Weiss. "Because you are not him. You are Weiss Schnee."

"An ice princess who will freeze anyone in her path," Yang adds with a smile.

Weiss' eyes begin to water. "Thank you. So much."


"All right, Doctor," Jackie panics. "I'm not saying I trust you, but there must be something you can do."

"If we could ferment the port," Harriet Jones thinks, "we could make acetic acid."

"Mickey, any luck?" Rose asks.

The sound of mouse-clicking and keyboard-clacking reverberates through the speaker. "There's loads of emergency numbers," he explains. "They're all on voicemail."

Harriet Jones shakes her head. "Voicemail dooms us all."

"Everyone's panicking," Ruby says. "Nobody knows what to do. What not to do."

"If only the Doctor had his T.A.R.D.I.S," Blake sighs. "He could just go to the United Nations and explain everything."

"I don't think they'd believe him."

"If we could just get out of here," Rose grumbles, leaping up from her seat and rubbing her hands along the door's steel.

"There's a way out."

"What?" Rose and Harriet Jones turn to the Doctor.

He remains completely still. "There's always been a way out."

"What is it?!" Blake yells.

"And why hasn't he used it yet?" Yang growls. "He could have stopped this already and didn't!?"

"Then why don't you use it?" Jackie shrieks.

The Doctor steps towards the table and leans down next to the speaker. "Because," he explains, "I can't guarantee your daughter will be safe."

Ruby curls up inside her hood. "I don't like this. I don't want him to choose."

"He doesn't have to," Qrow strokes his niece's head. "It's up to Rose. And it's like what the Librarian said. 'The needs of the many' and all that."

"Don't you dare," she growls. "Whatever it is, don't you dare!"

Shaking his head, the Doctor explains, "that's the thing. If I don't dare, everyone dies."

"Do it," Rose orders, not waiting for her mother's complaints.

The Doctor looks up at his companion. "You don't even know what it is. You'd just let me?"

She nods. "Yeah."

"She believes in him. Fully," Blake whispers.

"Please," Jackie cries, half-sobbing. "Doctor, please. She's my daughter. She's just a kid."

"Do you think I don't know that?" he asks. "'Cause this is my life, Jackie. It's not fun, it's not smart. It's just standing up and making a decision because nobody else will."

"Then what are you waiting for?" Rose asks.

The Doctor looks up at her with a soft look in his eyes. "I could save the world but lose you."

"And he can't choose," Weiss realizes.

Rose nods slowly. "He can't let her die. She's the first friend he's had since the Time War, think."

"But if he chooses to save her, everyone will die," Weiss snaps.

The two look at each other, passing looks between each other's eyes.

"Except it's not your decision, Doctor," Harriet Jones realizes. "It's mine."

"And who the hell are you?" Jackie snaps.

Standing proudly, she answers back, saying, "Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North. The only elected representative in this room, chosen by the people for the people." She turns to the Doctor. "And on behalf of the people, I command you. Do it."

The Doctor looks at her, then back to Rose. She nods back at him and the Doctor's mouth stretches into a wide grin.

"He's going to do it!" Yang cheers.

"Do what, exactly?" Blake asks.

"... Yeah, what is it he's going to do?"

Blake thinks for a moment. "Maybe there's a self-destruct system in the building?"


"Victory should be naked!" Green declares, pulling his zipper open. Blue light begins to flood the room as his brother and sister join in. They all smile as their human facade begins to fall away, revealing their true selves.


"How do we get out?" Rose asks as the Doctor grabs the briefcase of Emergency Protocols.

He pulls out a file. "We don't," he explains. "We stay here."

"But the aliens are out there," Ruby frowns. "What can you do from here?"

"Maybe the protocols allow him to disengage the bombs remotely," Qrow offers.


"The council is voting," the American newscaster reports, holding a finger to her ear. "The results should be known any second now."

The Slitheen give a victorious screech, raising their hands as the blue light begins to fade as their skins flop to the ground.


"Use the 'buffalo' password," the Doctor instructs over the phone. "It overrides everything."

Mickey proceeds to type the password into his computer. "What are you doing?" Jackie asks.

"Hacking into the Royal Navy."

Weiss facepalms. "He makes it sound so simple."

"Could be," the Librarian shrugs. "I hacked my school's grading system when I was 15."

"You did what?!"

The screen blips for a moment then pulls up a small list of vessels. "We're in," he relays. "Here it is, uh, HMS Taureen, Trafalgar-Class submarine, ten miles off the coast of Plymouth."

"Right, we need to select a missile."

Mickey clicks on an icon and a small warning pops up. "We can't go nuclear. We don't have the defence codes."

"We don't need it," the Doctor explains. "All we need is an ordinary missile. What's the first category?" he asks.

"Sub harpoon, UGM-84A."

"That's the one! Select!"

"I don't like where this is going," Ruby frowns. "Why do they need missiles?"

"He's gonna hit the nukes with 'em!" Yang smirks.

"Won't that blow them up midair?"

"Probably," her sister frowns. "But it'll be safer than letting them hit people, right?"

Jackie grabs Mickey's arm, causing him to jump. "I can stop you," she whispers.

"Do it then," he pleads, a tear in his eye.

"He doesn't want to do this," Weiss cries.

"But he has to," Qrow sighs.

"You ready for this?" the Doctor asks.

Mickey waits until Jackie lets go of his arm. When she does, he turns back to his computer. "Yeah." Jackie sits down next to him, biting her nails.

"Mickey the idiot," the Doctor declares. "The world is in your hands. Fire."

Closing his eyes, Mickey clicks his mouse and presses a small red button. To his left, Jackie lets out a small gasp and whispers, "oh, my God."

"Oh, please let this work," Blake prays.

"Where is he even firing?" Ruby asks worriedly.


Off of the coast of Plymouth, a submarine's missile bay opens. With a loud whoosh, a sub harpoon missile juts out and launches toward the air. It quickly breaks the ocean's surface and turns, heading towards London.

"He can't be serious," Qrow gasps. "That's insane."

"What is it, Uncle Qrow?" Yang asks.

Weiss gasps. "He's firing at 10 Downing!"

"But what'll that do?" Ruby asks.

"It'll blow up the Slitheen," Blake realizes. "Before they can fire the nuclear weapons."

Qrow nods. "Let's just hope that bunker they're in is strong enough to take the hit."


Harriet Jones inspects the metal walls covering the windows. "How solid are these?" she asks.

"Not solid enough," the Doctor answers. "Built for short-range attack, nothing this big."

"All right," Rose declares, jumping up from her seat. "Now I'm making the decision. I'm not going to die. We're going to ride this one out. It's like what they say about earthquakes. You can survive them by standing under a door frame." She opens the door to a small closet and presses herself against the frame. "Now, this cupboard's small, so it's strong. Come and help me. Come on." Harriet Jones does so, running into the cabinet with Rose.


"The vote is in." The American newscaster drops the hand from her ear in shock. "The Council says 'yes'. They are releasing the codes."

"Oh, no," Blake shudders. "The Slitheen won."
"Not unless the missile hits them first," Ruby squeals. "It's got to hit it faster than they can get the codes."


All of the Slitheen are now gathered inside the Prime Minister's office, huddled around the red phone.

"Ring, damn you!" Jocrassa Fel Fotch growls.


Through the speaker, Mickey's computer can be heard beeping. "It's on radar!" he reports. "Counter defense 556."

"Shit," Yang yelps.

"Maybe Mickey can override them?" Weiss offers hopefully.

Rose and Harriet continue to empty out the cupboard as the Doctor gives his attention to Mickey. "Stop them intercepting it!"

"I'm doing it now."

The Doctor smiles. "Good boy."

"556 neutralized," Mickey cheers solemnly as the Doctor unplugs the phone from the speaker.

"Dang," Qrow smirks. That buffalo override is great."


The sergeant from earlier grabs his radio. "What do you mean, 'incoming'?"

"I can't explain it, sir," a voice crackles back. "But the Taureen just fired upon us!"

Realizing their danger, the sergeant runs towards the stairs. He stops to smash open a fire-alarm pull station and grabs the lever. "Everyone out!" he orders. "Now! Now!"

The fire alarm begins to ring as the soldiers burst into action. Retreating, they hastily grab their equipment and head to the door, while the sergeant makes his way upstairs.


"What the hell is that for?" Jocrassa Fel Fotch cries as the alarm rings loudly.

The sergeant bursts into the room. "Sir, there's a missile…" He stops and stares at the Slitheen, who all look back with wide eyes. "Sorry!" the sergeant whimpers as he runs back out, closing the door behind him.

Everyone laughs at the sergeant's actions despite the tension.

"That was kind of him to go and try to save who he could, though," Weiss smiles. "Very brave of him."

"Especially as a missile is about to blow up the building. Too bad everyone there is an alien dirtbag who needs to be blown to smithereens," Yang adds.


Outside of Mickey's balcony, the missile flies by. Dozens of other residents watch in shock as it heads closer and closer into the heart of their city.

"Man, that is close," Qrow sweats.

"Too close," Ruby adds. "Hopefully it doesn't hit any of the buildings before Downing Street."


"That's mine, you've got mine!" a Slitheen screams, pulling at a skin from the ground that one of its siblings has in their claws.

"Disguise me!" one cries, practically running in circles. "Disguise me!"

The two arguing Slitheen tug back and forth with one of the skins. "No!" it screeches. "You're the blonde!

"I've got the other one. Take it off!"


The front door of 10 Downing Street opens, causing the reports to step forward. However, they quickly disperse as one of the soldiers fires a quick shot into the air. "Everybody, run!" he screams. Soldiers, civilians, and reporters all panic.

A loud whistling noise grows louder as the missile grows closer.

"Clear the area!" Weiss yells.

Blake nods. "Run! Or you'll be blown away too!"


Rose, followed by the Doctor, then Harriet Jones, all get into the cupboard and stuff themselves underneath the shelves.

"Here we go," the MP for Flydale North chuckles. "Well, nice knowing you both." they all clutch hands as she lets out a defiant battle-cry. "Hannibal!"

"Hannibal!" Everyone cheers, praying for the trio's safety.


Jocrassa Fel Fotch looks out the window and sees the missile heading straight towards him. "Oh, boll-"


A loud roar bursts forth from the missile as the missile explodes. Flames consume the entire building, knocking the doors of 10 Downing Street off their hinges and into the street. Even within the secure room, the Doctor holds onto Rose and Harriet Jones as the entire building shakes. Floorboards crack and splinter, plaster is destroyed, and the windows are shattered as the missile hits its target. The Cabinet Room falls through the floors. Its metal plating denting as the cube falls and rolls free into the lower levels.

When the shaking stops, all that remains is a crater. A crater with a dented, charred, yet solid metal box in its center.

"... Are they okay?" Ruby asks.

"It shook quite a bit," Weiss whispers, biting her lip.

Blake shakes her head. "But if they were able to stay put, they should be fine right?"

"Dunno, kid," Qrow sighs.

"They have to be okay," Yang growls.


The door that once held back a small army of Slitheen falls away with a simple push from the Doctor. Slowly, the three step out, stumbling through the rubble. When they make it to the street, Harriet Jones turns around and nods at the remains of their box.

"Made it Britain," she smiles.

"YES!" Everyone cheers, happy to see all three safely emerge from the capsule.

Behind them, the sergeant runs through the rubble. "Oh, my God," he gasps. "Are you okay?"

She doesn't answer his question, instead pulling out her ID card. "Harriet Jones," she repeats, "MP for Flydale North. I want you to contact UN immediately. Tell the ambassadors the crisis is over. They can step down." The soldier doesn't move, still shocked by the events from only minutes ago. "Go on, tell the news," she orders.

"She's already ordering around the military," Yang laughs. "Are we sure she isn't a nobody?"

"Maybe not yet," the Librarian smirks. "But imagine what a push like this could do for a person."

"Yes ma'am!" He runs off, quick to follow his orders.

Harriet Jones turns back to face the Doctor and Rose with a small smile. "Someone's got a hell of a job sorting this lot out. Oh, Lord! We haven't even got a Prime Minister!"

"Well," the Doctor nods, "maybe you should have a go."

"Me!" Harriet Jones gasps. "I'm only a backbencher."

"I'd vote for ya!" Rose agrees, earning a head shake from the MP.

"Me too!" Ruby cheers.

"As would I," Weiss agrees.

Blake smiles. "Same here."

"Heck yeah!" Yang cheers.

Qrow nods in agreement before raising his flask in salute.

"Now don't be silly," she scolds before hearing an approaching siren. Police cruisers begin swarming the area. Harriet Jones nods in gratitude at the Doctor and Rose before running towards them. "Look, I'd better go and see if I can help. Hang on." She begins to carefully step across the smoldering remains of Downing Street, yelling, "we're safe! The Earth is safe!"

The Doctor and Rose step onto solid ground and watch as Harriet Jones begins helping with evacuations. "I thought I knew the name," he remembers. "Harriet Jones. Future Prime Minister. Elected for three successive terms. The architect of Britain's Golden Age."

"Wow," Blake sighs. "She sounds like a hero."

"She is a hero," Weiss corrects. "It's just now everyone will see it."

"The crisis has passed!" Harriet Jones, future Prime Minister for Great Britain, yells as a swarm of reporters gather around her. "Ladies and gentlemen, I have something to say to you all here today! Mankind stands tall, proud and undefeated.

"God bless the human race."


Rose opens the door to her flat and reunites with her mother. The two hug for a long while, neither wanting to let go of the other.

Ruby begins to cry softly. "She's back with her mother… Rose must have been so worried about her."

Yang grabs her sister's hand. She does nothing but wait until Ruby stops. "So was she," Yang whispers. "But it's okay now."


Meanwhile, the Doctor steps inside the T.A.R.D.I.S and lets out a breath before running up to the console and making a few adjustments.


"God bless the human race." Harriet Jones' decree repeats on the telly as Rose sits on a sofa and watches it. Jackie steps in from the kitchen and sighs, hand on her hip.

"Harriet Jones," she frowns. "Who does she think she is? Look at her, taking all the credit. Should be you on there. My daughter saved the world!" She yells this at the screen and earns a chuckle from Rose.

"I think the Doctor helped a bit."

"And it wasn't like Harriet was just along for the ride," Blake smiles. "She tried to sacrifice herself for Rose. And got the Security Protocols."

Jackie sighs and sits down. "All right then. Him, too. You should be given knighthoods."

"Knighthoods?" Ruby asks.

"A knighthood, and the female equivalent, a damehood, is an award given by the queen to an individual for a major, long-term, contribution in any activity, usually at a national or international level," ELI explains.

"I want one," Yang smirks.

The Librarian chuckles. "Okay, next time you cure cancer, I'll tell the Queen."

"That's not the way he does things," Rose explains. "No fuss, he just moves on. He's not that bad if you gave him a chance."

"... He's good in a crisis, I'll give him that."

Rose gives an exasperated groan. "Oh! Now, the world has changed," she laughs. "You're saying nice things about him."

"I reckon I got no choice," Jackie explains. "There's no getting rid of him since you're infatuated."

"I'm not infatuated," Rose whispers dismissively.

"Keep telling yourself that, blondey," Qrow chuckles.

"They would make a cute couple…" Weiss whispers.

Jackie shakes her head. "What does he eat?"

"How do you mean?"

"I was gonna do shepherd's pie," she explains. "All of us, proper sit-down. 'Cause…" She stops to clear her throat. "I'm ready to listen. I wanna learn about you and him and that life you lead."

Ruby sighs. "That's nice of her."

"Especially after he kidnapped her daughter for a year," Qrow laughs.

"It wasn't his fault!" Ruby defends.

"I mean, I didn't know he's an alien. For all I know, he eats grass, and safety pins, and things."

"He'll have shepherd's pie," Rose smiles. "You're going to cook for him?"

"What's wrong with that?"

Rose sighs and shakes her head with a smile as she turns to look back at the telly. "He's finally met his match."

"You're not too old for a slap, you know," Jackie scolds as Rose giggles. Jackie gets up and rubs Rose's shoulder, saying, "you can go and visit your Gran tomorrow. You'd better learn some French. I told her you were in France. I said you were au-pairing." As Jackie walked back to the kitchen, Rose's cell phone began to beep. When she opened it, an image of the T.A.R.D.I.S appeared on the screen.

Rose quickly answered it. "Hello?"

"Right, I'll be a couple of hours, then we can go," the Doctor explains.

"Already?" Yang asks. "What about dinner? Or lunch? Or whatever it is they should be eating for this time of day."

"It's like she said," Blake sighs. "He just moves on. No-fuss."

Yang pouts. "Stil… It's Rose's mom. Not some old author."

Rose frowns and asks, "you've got a phone?"

"You think I can travel through space and time and I haven't got a phone?" he asks with a chuckle. "Huh! Like I said, couple of hours. I've just got to send out this dispersal." Rose hears the sound of a switch flipping. "There you go. That's canceling out the Slitheen's advert in case any bargain hunters turn up."

"Um," Rose mumbles. "My mother's cooking."

"Good! Put her on a slow heat and let her simmer."

Weiss giggles at this, earning more than a few stares. "What?" she asks. "I like a good wordplay."

"You don't like my puns, Weiss-cream," Yang pouts sarcastically.

"I said good wordplay."

Rose shakes her head with a smile. "She's cooking tea," she clarifies. "For us."

"I don't do that," the Doctor says after a pause.

"She wants to get to know you," Rose explains.

"Tough. I've got better things to do."

Rose frowns. "It's just tea."

"Not to me, it isn't."

"She's my mother."

"Well, she's not mine," the Doctor snarks.

"That's not fair!"

"Why is he being like this?" Blake frowns. "Like he doesn't even want to get to know them."

"Because he doesn't," Qrow explains. "After that war he fought, he doesn't trust himself to be with anyone. I'm surprised he even lets Rose go with him. He's got some trauma."

The Librarian nods. "If he gets attached now, after losing everyone he has loved on his home planet, and they die, it might just push him over the edge. Imagine losing everyone you ever knew. And when you finally find someone to share your experiences with, it costs them too."

"Oh my gods," Blake gasps. "That's horrible."

"That's life," Qrow growls as he takes a drink from his flask.

"Well, you can stay there if you want." He stops and takes a deep breath. "But right now there's this plasma storm brewing in the Horsehead Nebula. Fires are burning, ten million miles wide. I could fly the Tardis right into the heart of it then ride the shock wave all the way out. Hurtle right across the sky and end up anywhere.

"Your choice."

The phone line beeps as the Doctor hangs up. Rose keeps the phone held to her ear for a moment before sliding it into her pocket with a smile.


"Rose," Jackie asks, returning from the kitchen with a cup of tea in each hand, "I was thinking. I've got that bottle of Amaretto from New Year's Eve. Does he drink?" Realizing the room was now empty, she walks over to Rose's, only to find her packing a rucksack. "I was wondering if he drinks or not," she repeats.

"Yeah, he does," Rose answers, shoving more clothes into the backpack.

Jackie watches as her daughter continues to pack. "Don't go, sweetheart," she pleads. "Please don't go."

Her daughter looks back at her with a small smile before resuming to pack.

"She's made up her mind," Weiss sighs.

"I just hope they won't keep her waiting as long as they did this time," Ruby whimpers.


Mickey, sitting atop of a bin and reading a newspaper, watches from the corner of his eye as the Doctor stands above a child with a bucket. The kid, the same one who tagged the T.A.R.D.I.S earlier the other day, scrubs away at the blue box, making it shine like new. Even though the paint vanished when it dematerialized, the Doctor still smiled as the kid slaved away during his punishment.

"Good lad," he smiles. "Graffiti that again and I'll have you. Now, beat it." The kid quickly takes off running, not bothering to look back.

"Did he really spend the time hunting down that kid?" Yang laughs.

"Probably wasn't that difficult," Blake giggles. "Especially when he has technology that can trace where people were."

"I just went down the shop," Mickey comments, jumping up from his bin and walking towards the Doctor, "and I was thinking, you know, like the whole world's changed. Aliens and spaceships all in public. And here it is." Mickey holds up the newspaper, showing the headline: 'Alien Hoax?'

"Are you kidding me?" Weiss snaps. "How can they believe that!?"

"Government coverup and human ignorance," the Librarian chuckles. "The people don't want to accept it and the government leaders don't want others to know how much they failed. Easier to just sweep this under the rug."

"That's ridiculous," she scoffs.

"That's politics."

Mickey scoffs. "How could they do that? They saw it!"

"They're just not ready," the Doctor explains. "You're happy to believe in something that's invisible, but if it's staring you in the face, 'nope, can't see it!' There's a scientific explanation for that," he realizes. "You're thick."

The two share a chuckle. "We're just idiots," Mickey laughs.

"Well," the Doctor smiles. "Not all of you."

"Is that a compliment?" Ruby gasps. "From the Doctor for Mickey?!"

"It did sound like one," Yang smiles. "I guess he's warming up to him."

"Yeah?"

The Doctor pulls a small disc from his pocket and holds it out. "Present for you, Mickey. That's a virus. Put it online and it'll destroy every mention of me. I'll cease to exist."

"What do you want to do that for?" Mickey asks, taking the disc.

"'Cause you're right," he explains. "I am dangerous. I don't want anybody following me."

"Smart," Qrow nods.

"That would mean the only information about him has to come from direct sources," Weiss frowns.

The huntsman nods. "But it'll mean the Doctor has to worry less."

Mickey pockets it and frowns. "How can you say that and then take her with you?"

"You could look after her. Come with us."

"... I can't," he sighs.

"WHAT?!"

"This life of yours… It's just too much. I couldn't do it."

Ruby frowns. "But… It's fun!"

"And dangerous," Weiss sighs. "He's making his choice. And it is very mature of him to do so."

"I guess."

Mickey notices Jackie and Rose approaching them and whispers, "don't tell her I said that."

"I'll get a proper job," Jackie pleads. "I'll work weekends, I'll pass my test. And if Jim comes round again, I'll say no. I really will."

Rose shakes her head and grabs her mother's arm. "I'm not leaving 'cause of you," she explains. "I'm traveling, that's all, and then I'll come back."

"But it's not safe!"

"Neither is leaving the house or getting out of bed," Weiss argues.

"It's not as safe, then," Blake rolls her eyes with a smile.

Weiss hmphs. "I would rather be doing something that helps others than being safe."

"And that's your choice," the Librarian comments. "She made her own. You just commented about Mickey's after all."

"Mum. If you saw it out there, you'd never stay home," Rose explains. She gives Jackie a hug before pulling her bag off her shoulders.

The Doctor smirks. "Got enough stuff?"

"The first time I stepped in there, it was spur-of-the-moment." She tosses her bag at the Doctor, who grunts and steps back as he tries to keep the bag from falling to the ground. "Now I'm signing up. You're stuck with me," she laughs.

"Till death do you part?" Yang teases.

Rose then walks over to Mickey and rubs his shoulder. "Come with us," she pleads. "There's plenty of room."

Sparing him, the Doctor interrupts. "No chance!" he lies. "He's, uh, a liability. I'm not having him on board."

"We'd be dead without him," Rose frowns.

"My decision is final."

Rose looks back at Mickey. "Sorry," she whispers.

"Don't be," Blake comments. "He made his choice."

"Nice of the Doctor to cover him, though," Ruby smiles. "He's being nicer."

Mickey doesn't respond, but kisses Rose goodbye.

"You still can't promise me," Jackie frowns. "What if she gets lost? What if something happens to you, Doctor, and she's left all alone, standing on some moon a million light-years away? How long do I wait then?"

Rose grabs her mother's hand and turns her around. "Mum, you're forgetting. It's a time machine. I could go traveling around suns and planets and all the way out to the edge of the universe, and by the time I get back, yeah, ten seconds would have passed. Just ten seconds. So stop worrying. I'll see you in ten seconds' time, yeah?"

"Unless his T.A.R.D.I.S messes up again," Weiss drolls.

"It wasn't a 'mess up'," the Librarian defends. "The T.A.R.D.I.S has a mind of its own. And it took them to where they wanted as well as where they needed to be."

The Tylers hug as the Doctor returns to the T.A.R.D.I.S with Rose's bag. When the two blondes let go of each other, the daughter gives her a smile before running inside.

Leaving her mother to count the seconds.

Mickey gives a small wave as Rose closes the T.A.R.D.I.S doors behind her. He and Jackie then watch as it disappears, pulsing and fading. The wheezing of the box is the only sound to be heard as the wind picks up, blowing trash around them.

And then, it was gone.

Jackie looks down at her watch. 10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1. "10 seconds," she whispers before dropping her hands and walking inside. Mickey decides to wait, however, and jumps back onto his bin. He unfolds the newspaper and waits for a blue box to appear before him.


"It's so sweet they waited," Ruby smiles.

"Yes. And what an entertaining episode as well," Weiss adds.

"I loved it!" Yang smiles. "It had action! Suspense! And the Doctor was fantastic!"

"Especially when he showed he doesn't just need his fancy gadgets," Blake nods. "I wonder where they are going next."

Qrow drinks one last gulp from his flask before pocketing it. "I hate to admit it, but you got me interested."

Ruby leaps up and hugs her uncle. "I knew you would, Uncle Qrow!"

The Librarian rises to his feet and stretches for a moment. "Do you all want to do one more episode, or take a field trip?"

"One more!" everyone yells back.

"Fine," he laughs. "I'll go look up some fun places we can go. You five can watch the next one."

"Yay!"

Yang grabs the Librarians arm. "It better have danger, ya hear me?"

"Yes, yes," he smiles. He makes a move to the slip-slope control panel and rests his hand against it. "I'll be back in a few. Don't wait up!" The floor beneath him disappears and he is gone.

"I still don't know if we can trust him," Qrow grumbles.

Ruby rolls her eyes with a smile. "The Librarian's cool! He gave me my Huntress license." She pulls out her red wallet and holds it out to her uncle. "See?"

"Why does it say you get free cookies along the bottom?" Qrow smirks, raising an eyebrow.

Blake turns to Weiss. "Where do you think he will pick?"

"Well," the heiress comments, "I hope somewhere relaxing. Yang just wants something to punch and our team leader will be content with anything that has free sweets. And he-" she points to the only adult in the room "-will most likely just find the liquor."

The cat-Faunus smiles. "Sounds like fun, then."

"Absolutely."

Slowly, everyone returns to their seats. "So…" Qrow comments, breaking the silence. "How do we do this?"

Yang smirks at her uncle. "We've gotta say the words."

"Again?" he groans. "Fine."

"Hobey-ho!"


And done. Finally. Phew! I've finished at last, lol. I don't know why, but this took a lot, A LOT, out of me. Don't expect an update for a month at least (sorry). I've got other things I have to do. And boy, oh boy, can I not wait to get to the next episode. 'Dalek'. Yesssss. Such a fun one.

Apologies if this chapter got rough at the end, but I've been working on this for like 2-3 nights now and I'm tired. I'd rather give it to you now and make any necessary changes in the next update.

I want to take a moment and comment about the polls. Currently, a trip to Disneyland is in the lead with 2 votes. Wow.
