Welcome back to The Rise of a Master! Last time Ash and Cynthia had begun their journey to Vermilion City in order to speak with Professor Sakuragi in order to discuss on whether or not Ash will leave his Legendary Pokémon there and Cynthia protests about always going on foot especially on his journey to battle and catch Legendary Pokémon and so they compromised and they've stopped at Pewter City to visit Brock.
Due to the ever-worsening situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak, I'm going to have to remind you all about the basic steps you should take if you want to stay healthy
-Wash hands often with soap and water for 20-30 seconds at a time, and/or use hand sanitizer
-Avoid close contact with people who are sick
-Keep your hands away from nose, eyes, and mouth (I can't imagine how difficult this part is probably going to be)
-Eat well, get adequate rest, and exercise regularly
-Get a flu shot if you haven't already and are able to
And if you ARE sick (I hope you get better if you are), please be a good sport and save other folks the trouble of getting sick. You can do this by:
-Covering your mouth and nose with your sleeve, elbow, or a tissue whenever you sneeze or cough
-Not sharing food and drinks with others
-Avoiding touching your mouth, nose, and eyes (Again, I understand this is probably going to be difficult)
-Avoiding close contact with others
-Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and objects
-Staying at home if you're unwell (PRIORITY NUMBER ONE!)
-Staying calm and keeping yourself well-informed (My personal advice)
If you already know this, then great! If you didn't know any of this beforehand, please keep that information in mind as we all go through this trying time. It's a realm of unknowns at this point, and I wish myself and all of humanity well.

After leaving the Viridian Forrest the duo had arrived at Pewter City and the home of Ash's friend Brock.
"Now this place brings back memories." Said Ash.
"You battled Brock to get your 1st badge right? So what did you do to win?" Asked Cynthia as she looked at Ash.
"I set off the sprinklers." Said Ash.
"You're kidding right?" Asked Cynthia
Ash didn't say anything has he kept walking.
As the two kept walking they reached the Pewter Gym.
"Can't wait to see Brock again it's been a while." Said Ash.
"When was the last time you saw each other?" Asked Cynthia.
"It was during my time in Alola when he and Misty came to see Alola some time after me and my class had visited Kanto to learn about Pokémon Gyms and we had Misty and Brock to show us since Misty is a Gym Leader and Brock was one." Said Ash.
"Makes sense." Said Cynthia.
Ash walked up to the door and began to knock on it and when the door opened the person who answered the door was none other than Brock himself.
"Hey Brock, long time no see." Said Ash with a smile.
Brock was smiling in surprise at the Trainer he's known since the near beginning of his journey who helped him realize his dream in wanting to become a Pokémon Doctor. He was about to speak when he noticed the presence of the the beautiful Sinnoh Champion Cynthia and was already kneeling down before her grasping her hands in his completely ignoring Ash.
"Cynthia, my darling fate has brought us together and now that the moment has come will you please do me the honor of going out on a date with -" Said Brock before he was interrupted the same way as usual whenever he hits on a girl.
"CROAGUNK!" Said Croagunk as it Poison Jabs Brock.
"ARGH! Why...didn't...I...see...this...comiiing." Says Brock as he slowly falls down onto his back before Croagunk drags him inside before nodding at the duo gesturing them inside.
"That's new." Said Cynthia who blinked in confusion.
"Nah not really you just never seen Croagunk jab him before, anyway let's go in." Said Ash as he entered Brock's house with Cynthia behind him.
After entering the house and being greeted by all of Brock's siblings and his parents the duo was now sitting at the dining room table with Brock who had recovered from Croagunk's attack.
"So Ash it's been while, what's with the edgy new look?" Asked Brock looking at Ash.
Ash laughed at Brock's words while Cynthia also looked at him for an answer.
"You know how I usually change my look whenever I go to a new region, Well right now I'm on a new journey and so I decided to shake things up and the guys in the Alola thought it looked cool, Gladion especially really liked this outfit, who was actually the one that recommended this outfit." Explained Ash.
Brock then nodded in understanding while Cynthia assumed Ash was talking about the friends he made in Alola.
"Alright then, so what happened to your eyes?" Asked Brock.
"Thank you!" Said Cynthia who sighed in exasperation. "I asked that exact same thing but he wouldn't give me an answer."
"Let me guess it involves Legendary Pokémon?" Asked Brock.
"Yeah actually." Said Ash.
"Ah okay then." Said Brock.
Cynthia on the other hand was shocked at Brock's nonchalant acceptance of Ash's answer.
"Wait really you're not going to ask for details?" Asked Cynthia.
"Cynthia, from the time I was 10 I've been encountering all kinds of Legendary Pokémon in every region I've been to, hell I've even tried to punch one of the world's most strongest Pokémon and lived, If I had to tell you the story and end results of each and every one we'd be all day." Explained Ash with Pikachu nodding it's head in confirmation.
"Speaking of stories, whats the story between you two, are you guys traveling together or something?" Asked Brock.
"Yeah actually, Ash is on a special journey right now and I convinced him to take me with him." Said Cynthia.
"If by "Convinced" you mean you blocked my way every time I tried to leave until I agreed than yeah." Said Ash.
Cynthia quickly turned away with a slight cough with a sweat drop on the side of her face.
"And let's not forget the part where you were about to shed some tears when I said I wasn't going back to Sinnoh for a while." Ash said with a small amused smile as he looked at her with a closed hand to his face with his elbow on the table.
Cynthia then lowered her face with a blush on her face finding the table design very fascinating.
"Really Cynthia!?" Said Brock looking at her in surprise.
Brock then had a joking smile as a funny thought came to him.
"Heh, What's up with that Cynthia? You have a thing for Ashy-boy here?" Brock Said to her jokingly.
Cynthia's face in a puff of smoke quickly turned bright red as she stared at Brock.
"W-w-what! N-no! What are you talking about! That's not it at all!" Stuttered Cynthia waving her hands in front of her.
Ash being the dense person he is failed to notice Cynthia's reaction as he looked at Brock slightly annoyed.
"C'mon Brock, don't you start with that nickname. I already have to go through that with Gary, I don't need anymore people calling me that." Said Ash as Cynthia was denying Brock's claim.
"Relax I'm just joking." Said Brock.
Cynthia breathed out a sigh of relief with hand to her heart as she calmed down and regained her composure.
"Say Ash since you're here why don't you and I have ourselves a battle?" Offered Brock. "I wanna know whether or not you actually deserved that Boulder Badge."
Ash, never turning down a chance to battle anyone especially an old friend stood up.
"Sure Brock I'd be happy too, just don't go into shock when I beat you." Said Ash trash talking Brock.
"Ha! Big words coming from the guy who came to a Rock Type gym with only a Pikachu and a pair of Flying Types." Said Brock trash talking Ash back.
"I'm different than I was before." Said Ash.
Cynthia blinked at the two and could have sworn she was seeing sparks fly between them as both were getting fired up.
Ash and Brock were now on both sides of the Pewter Gym battlefield with Brock's younger brother and current Gym Leader for Pewter City Forrest as the referee.
"I'm guessing you'll want this to be in the same format as the first time we battled?" Guessed Brock with a confident smile.
"You read my mind Brock, let's make this a great battle we both can enjoy, I won't be holding back so I expect the same from you!" Said Ash with a confident smile.
Cynthia was up on the stands with all of Brock's younger siblings watching the battle.
"This will be a 2 on 2 Pokémon Battle between Brock of Pewter City and Ash of Pallet Town, the battle will be over when all of one side's Pokémon are unable to continue in addition both sides will be allowed to substitute Pokémon." Announced Forrest. "Let the battle begin!"
"Let's do this Golem Gooooo!" Said Brock as he sends out his first Pokémon.
"Goleeeem!" Said Golem.
"Is that?" Asked Ash with a raised eyebrow.
"Yep." Confirmed Brock. "The exact same Geodude that I used in our first battle and brought with me on our journey."
Ash smiled at the Pokémon as a wave of nostalgia hit him before taking out a Pokéball with a confident smile.
"Silvally, I Choose You!" Said Ash as he sent out the Synthetic Pokémon.
"Vally!" It said.
"A Silvally? I thought only Gladion had one?" Asked Brock.
"Long story short, Faba made three, Gladion's was the first while mine is the second." Said Ash.
"I see in that case, Golem, Defense Curl into Rollout!" Said Brock
"Golem!" It said as it rolled into a ball and started to roll fast towards Silvally.
As Golem was approaching Silvally Ash pulled out a blue disk with a slightly darker shade on a part of it.
"Sacred beast Silvally, Receive this Water Memory and flow rapidly as a torrential beast!" Said Ash as he threw the disk toward Silvally as it's Memory Drive open and installed the Memory Disk.
"Vally!" Said Silvally as it sclera, spikes and tail turned blue.
"Silvally, having become the reincarnation of water become a raging wave and soak your foes with your rapid strikes, Multi Attack!" Said Ash.
Silvally's body became covered in a blue aura as it charged towards Golem.
The two Pokémon attacks then collided creating a explosion covering the field in smoke.
"Heh not bad Ash, you've grown a lot since we first battled." Said Brock.
"I'm not the same little kid from back then and right now I plan to win this so Silvally knock it back!" Said Ash.
As the smoke clears you can see that Silvally had stooped Golem dead in it's track before knocking it back sending it back a few feet.
"Golem, Rock Blast!" Said Brock.
"Swords Dance into Multi Attack." Countered Ash.
Golem began launching rocks towards Silvally whom after increasing it's attack began charging towards Golem destroying every rock in front of it before lunging at Golem it's claws in a blue aura before hitting it making a explosion.
After the smoke clears it showed that Golem was beaten with swirls in it's eyes while Silvally was fine with small scratches.
"Golem is unable to battle, Silvally is the winner!" Declared Forrest.
"Golem return." Said Brock. "Thanks you did a good job."
"That's one down Brock I hope you're ready." Said Ash.
"Don't get cocky Ash, this isn't over yet Steelix Go!" Said Brock as he sends out his partner Pokémon.
"Battle resume!" Said Forrest.
"Parting Shot." Said Ash.
With quick speed Silvally quickly whispered something to Steelix lowering it's attack and special attack before returning to it's Pokéball.
"Pikachu I choose you!" Said Ash after returning Silvally and turning his hat around.
"Ah Pikachu that brings back memories, just so you know I disabled the sprinkler system before our match so we don't get a repeat of last time." Said Brock with a grin.
"Ah man and that was my main strategy." Said Ash jokingly with a laugh.
Up in the stands Cynthia had heard what Ash and Brock were talking about.
"Wait really!?" Said Cynthia in surprise, "That actually happened, I thought that was a joke!"
"Nope that actually happened." Said one of Brock's siblings.
"Alright, time to get serious." Said Brock as he then takes off his shirt throwing it into the air crossing his arms against his hard toned body as he reveals a Key Stone hanging off his neck.
"Bring it!" Said Ash.
"Steelix, Mega Evolve!" Says Brock as Steelix Mega Evolves.
Steelix has now evolved even further, its body becomes longer, almost doubles its mass, and gains more features. its's eyes have turned blue and its lower jaw becomes more heavily armored with a round, curved shape. Additionally, a third pair of ridges appear on its bottom jaw, as well as two sharp, flat structures consisting of three conjoined projections on each side. The gray, rock-like spikes and its tail point have transformed into prism-like crystalline spikes; the segments from which the spikes protrude are much larger as well. In-between the head and individual spiked segments are smaller units, now adorned by a black spot with a blue hexagon on each side. Several metallic-looking scraps constantly rotate around its neck
"STEELIIIIIX!" Roars Mega Steelix as it's roar echos throughout the gym.
The roar had caused an very strong gust if wind which would have sent most flying except for Ash and Pikachu who kept their ground without so much as blinking completely unfazed by the power behind the wind while Ash's hat was lifted from his head into the air.
Mega Steelix's roar had even shook the stands where Cynthia and Brock's siblings were watching all of them grabbing onto the railing to keep themselves from falling.
"Incredible, they didn't even flinch at the power behind Mega Steelix's roar." Said Cynthia in astonishment and admiration and it was then she saw something slowly falling at her direction and realizes it's Ash's hat so she reaches for it and catches it and proceeds to hold onto it until the end of the battle to return it.
"Pikachu, Iron Tail now!" Said Ash.
"Pika!" Says Pikachu as it starts to run towards Mega Steelix with it's tail turning to metal.
"Mega Steelix, use Screech!" Said Brock.
"Spin and dodge!" Counters Ash.
Mega Steelix then lowers it's head and let's out a piercing screech at Pikachu only for it to dodge to the by leaping forward and spinning to the right, Pikachu then jumps into the air and land it's attack right on top of Mega Steelix's head crashing it's head down to the ground.
"I should've figured using Roark and Byron's technique wouldn't work so try this on for size, Mega Steelix Rock Tomb!" Says Brock.
Ash however was prepared for this as well. "Rock Tomb climb now Pikachu and do it using Iron Tail!"
Mega Steelix got it's head off the ground and summoned a bunch of rocks to try and bury Pikachu but instead it had climbed it's rock's jumping up from rock to rock with Iron Tail before jumping high into the air slightly blinding the Mega Pokémon with the indoor lights so it couldn't see it very well.
"Mega Steelix, Don't let hit you Dragon Breath now!" Said Brock.
"Don't quit now Pikachu, Volt Tackle let's go!" Said Ash stunning everybody in the gym.
"Say what!?" Said Brock who was shocked at Ash's attack command.
Cynthia on the other hand banged her fist against the railing startling Brock's siblings.
"WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? ELECTRIC TYPE MOVES DON'T HAVE ANY EFFECT ON GROUND POKÉMON!" Yelled Cynthia eyes wide.
Pikachu has never doubting Ash's words and it wasn't going to start now.
"Pika Pika Pka Pika Pika Pika Pikapikapikapikapikapikapikaaaa!" Says PIkachu as it starts running through the Dragon Breath ignoring the pain of the attack as it starts getting closer to Mega Steelix.
"Mega Steelix, more power! We don't know what they're up to send Pikachu flying!" Said Brock.
Mega Steelix then starts to put more power into it's attack making it bigger and starts to pushes Pikachu back.
"Pikachu, use Electro Ball and swallow it to power up the Volt Tackle!" Said Ash.
"Pika Pika Pika Pika PIKA!" Says Pikachu as it tries to create an Electro Ball while maintaining the Volt Tackle as the attack shrinks a small amount but is able to create an Electro Ball throwing it at Mega Steelix but due to being inside the Dragon Breath it's easily pushed back like Pikachu wanted as it opens it's mouth and swallows the Electro Ball.
"Just what is it that they're planning to do, even if the Volt Tackle gets stronger it doesn't change the fact my Mega Steelix is a Ground Type." Thinks Brock.
Ash's plan had worked and in a flash of light Pikachu's Volt Tackle was almost twice as big then it was before pushing through the Dragon Breath until it was now facing Mega Steelix in the face.
"Now Iron Tail! Put all that electricity and power into this attack!" Says Ash as he punches his right fist forward..
Pikachu is then able to to transfer all the power of it's attack into a sparking Iron Tail filled with possibly thousands of volts of electricity as it breaks through the attack shocking Mege Steelix as it hits it right in the face creating a giant explosion of electricity blowing the roof off the gym completely and destroying every window in the building.
Almost everybody had to shield themselves as the explosion occurred obscuring everyone's vision until the smoke cleared revealing a pretty bad damaged Mega Steelix but still has more than enough strength left to battle while a badly damaged Pikachu was across from it on all fours both Pokémon panting pretty heavily.
"Incredible. Absolutely incredible." Said Brock as he witnesses the damage to not only the battle field but also the gym it was then he felt something wet hit his face. "huh?"
Looking up storm clouds had begun to form and started to heavily rain into the gym and then bolts of lighting began to emerge from the clouds as well one of them hitting Pikachu recharging it.
"Brock this has really been an amazing battle, I almost wish this didn't have to end." Ash said to his friend with a grateful smile.
Brock couldn't help but smile right back at Ash. "I feel the same the way."
The heavy rain continues to fall as a gust of wind picks up and making Cynthia accidentally drop Ash's hat as the wind blows it around before Ash catches it with his right hand as the Electrium Z on his Z-Power Ring starts sparking with electricity before evolving and begins to glow.
"All right. Let's go, Pikachu!" Says Ash as he puts the cap on Pikachu's head.
Ash the crosses his arms activating the Z Crystal. "Let's show them our full power!"
"Pikachu!" Says Pikachu as it adjusts the hat on it's head.
"With all the heavy rain Steelix is vulnerable to Electric Type moves now." Said Brock.
Ash and Pikachu fist bump as they synchronize a series of poses before filling Pikachu with Z-Power.
"Stronger than a Thunderbolt's 100,00 Volts... 1,000,000 Volts! No, even bigger than that! Our Super full power! Pikachu! 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt!"
"Pikachuuuu!" Says Pikachu as it's struck by lightning again super charging it as it jumps and it shoots even different color bolts of electricity at Mega Steelix.
"MEGA STEELIX, QUICK INTERCEPT THEM WITH STONE EDGE!" Yells Brock.
Mega Steelix launches it's attack intercepting the Z-Move.
"This is our... full power! " Says Ash as he and Pikachu move their hand back before pushing their hands and arms forward with one final yell.
Pikachu's attack the becomes more powerful completely destroying the Stone Edge hitting Mega Steelix and creating an even bigger explosion than before causing tears to Ash and Brock's clothes as well as multiple cuts to their arms and face.
After all the smoke had cleared from the explosion the storm clouds were disappearing to reveal sunlight as it revealed Brock's Steelix reverted back to it's original form knocked out with Pikachu barely standing on two feet.
After a moment to regain his senses Forrest raised his flag in Ash's direction. "Steelix is unable to battle which means that the winner is Ash from Pallet Town."
Brock had returned Steelix thanking it for all it's hard work before walking to Ash who was now carrying a sleeping Pikachu.
"That was an amazing battle Ash, you defeated me fair and square." Said Brock as he held his hand out to Ash.
After putting his hat back on Ash took Brock's hand and shook it. "I feel the same way Brock ,thank you." He said
"Ash!" called out Cynthia.
Ash and Brock turned and saw that Cynthia and all of Brock's younger siblings had gathered around them.
"Are you alright? You're face and arms are covered with cuts and even have some blood coming out of a few of them." Said Cynthia completely worried.
"Yeah relax I'm fine believe me, I've been through a lot worse." Said Ash waving Cynthia off with the hand that's not holding Pikachu.
"Amen to that." Commented Brock.
"Still you should at least get checked out by a doctor." Argued Cynthia.
"And I'm telling you I don't need to." Said Ash.
"You two sound like an old married couple." Said Brock.
This made Cynthia turn bright red as she blushed a deep crimson while Ash was just confused.
"N-no no you got it all wrong, w-we're not even together yet!" stuttered Cynthia.
"Yet?" Ash and Brock said in union looking at her with a raised eyebrow making her blush a darker red as her face started steaming.
"FORGET I SAID ANYTHING!" Yelled Cynthia.
"Okaaay then." Said Ash slightly freaked out by her outburst. "Anyway Cynthia and I are going to be hitting the road soon but would it be alright if we crashed here for tonight?"
"Are you kidding, of course I'll even cook dinner." Said Brock.
"Hell yeah, I haven't had your cooking in ages." Said Ash.
The next day Ash and Cynthia were standing outside of Pewter City with Brock seeing them off.
"It's been great seeing you again Brock I know that you'll be able to achieve your dream of becoming a Pokémon Doctor." Said Ash.
"Are you sure you don't want our help repairing the gym? As a Champion I could make some phone calls that would help speed up the repair process." Said Cynthia.
"It's fine me and Forrest can handle it with the help of our Pokémon so as Dawn always says, "No need to worry." " Said Brock.
"Alright then if you say so, take care of yourself Pokémon Doctor Brock." Said Ash.
"Pokémon Master Ash you too." Said Brock.
After saying their farewells to Brock the duo began to continue their journey towards their next destination.
Done. That's it for this chapter and I finished it just in time for Christmas too. Now you're probably thinking that Pikachu shouldn't have been able to beat Steelix let alone a Mega one but hey if Pikachu can tie with a freaking Latios than I think it can beat a Mega Steelix. And yes I had Ash pull of some BS with this battle that was similar to his last match with Brock but hey It only makes sense that Ash would pull something like that off ok.
