Welcome back to The Rise of a Master last time Ash had brought Cynthia to visit Brock in Pewter City and the two old friends battled each other with Ash as the victor and afterwards the two then continued their journey. Just a quick heads up this chapter gets a little dark, you've been warned.
Due to the ever-worsening situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak, I'm going to have to remind you all about the basic steps you should take if you want to stay healthy
-Wash hands often with soap and water for 20-30 seconds at a time, and/or use hand sanitizer
-Avoid close contact with people who are sick
-Keep your hands away from nose, eyes, and mouth (I can't imagine how difficult this part is probably going to be)
-Eat well, get adequate rest, and exercise regularly
-Get a flu shot if you haven't already and are able to
And if you ARE sick (I hope you get better if you are), please be a good sport and save other folks the trouble of getting sick. You can do this by:
-Covering your mouth and nose with your sleeve, elbow, or a tissue whenever you sneeze or cough
-Not sharing food and drinks with others
-Avoiding touching your mouth, nose, and eyes (Again, I understand this is probably going to be difficult)
-Avoiding close contact with others
-Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and objects
-Staying at home if you're unwell (PRIORITY NUMBER ONE!)
-Staying calm and keeping yourself well-informed (My personal advice)
If you already know this, then great! If you didn't know any of this beforehand, please keep that information in mind as we all go through this trying time. It's a realm of unknowns at this point, and I wish myself and all of humanity well.

"Well Ash it was great to see you again, next time I see you let's have a battle." Said Misty
"Count on it." Said Ash.
"And Cynthia it was a real honor to meet you in person."
"The honor is all mine Misty, it's nice to meet one of Ash's old travel buddies." Said Cynthia.
"Do me a favor, try to keep Ash from doing anything dangerous, somehow he always finds a way to do so one way or another."
"Hey!" Said Ash.
"No promises but I'll try my best." Said Cynthia.
After saying their goodbyes the duo continued their journey to Vermilion City.
The two were on their way to Vermilion City with Ash leading the way with Cynthia following close behind him.
"Are you sure we're going the right way to Vermilion? I know you've traveled through Kanto twice already but it's almost been a week since we left Cerulean City." Said Cynthia as she walked right next to him as she looked at him, his face still facing straight ahead.
"Your concern is valid but unnecessary." Said Ash as Pikachu nodded to his statement. "While I'll admit that I was never great with directions but after traveling with Brock, Max, and Cilan I've learned to actually know where I'm going and how to get there instead of just walking in a random direction and hoping for the best. We should be there by the end of the week."
"Well alright if you're sure." Said Cynthia as they continued to walk.
After maybe another hour or so of walking they soon became surrounded by fog.
"It's getting hard to see what's in front of me with this fog." Said Cynthia.
"We won't make much progress with our vision impaired like this so I think it'd be best if we took a break here and try to wait the fog out and if it gets late we'll set up camp here." Said Ash
"Sounds like a plan." said Cynthia then had a teasing smile on her face. "Wow Ash, "impaired" how long did it take you to learn a big word like that."
Pikachu snickered at her words while Ash deadpanned. "For your information Cynthia I do happen to know words like "impaired" and stuff."
Cynthia giggled at his reaction as she then began to hear the sound of a battle going on. "Hey Ash, you hear that?"
Ash nods his head as the two begin to move closer to the sound as they walk they see that the fog seems to have lightened up somewhat at least enough for them to see the back of their hands again as they see two trainers in school uniforms having a battle.
"Politoed use Water Gun at 9 o'clock!" Said the male trainer to the left.
Poliwrath dodge to 6 o'clock and hit em back with a Hydro Pump !" Said the female trainer to the right.
"So they're having a Pokémon battle each other in the fog and using the hours of a clock to tell them what direction to attack in, not bad" Observed Ash.
As the battle continues the duo begins to hear a school bell as the fog begins to dissipate right in front of their eyes as they soon find themselves in a schoolyard battlefield.
"Where the heck are we!?" Said Cynthia while Ash had his fist to his chin with his eyes closed as he was thinking.
"Why does this feel familiar?" He said to himself
They hear over the P.A., 'Today's special class, Fog Battles, is now ending. Tomorrow's lesson will be Snow Battles.'
It was then the two students that were battling noticed Ash and Cynthia as they were pointed at.
"Hey! It's the Champions of the Sinnoh and Alola League!" Called out the male student as a horde of students began to surround them and ask them questions.
"Can I have your autograph?!"
"Can you teach me how to better handle my Pokémon?!"
"What are you doing in a place like this?!"
"Will you go out with me?!"
Seeing that last one was from a female student to Ash which led to even more asking the same, Cynthia quickly got an angry tick on her forehead as she released her Garchomp as it roared in order for the horde of students to shut up and give them some space.
Soon after the headmaster came and had the students disperse and head to their next class as he came up to them.
He looked to be around the same age as Professor Oak, wearing a three-piece suit with a dark jacket and long coattails and striped pants, his hair is long, straight, white, pulled into a tight ponytail, ending just below his shoulders. His hairline is beginning to recede. He has a long, straight, white beard cut in the Imperial way, with no hair on the chin but along the mustache and beard area without connecting to the head hair, styled into two long points reaching his collarbone.
"My sincerest apologies students can get very excited when they see a famous trainer, especially a Champion." Said the Headmaster
"No problem I'd get excited too when I met a Champion when I was their age." Said Ash.
"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Henry Henderson, Headmaster of Pokémon Technical Institute." Said Henry.
"It's a pleasure to meet you sir, I'm Cynthia Shirona." Said Cynthia.
"Hey there I'm Ash Ketchum and this is my partner Pikachu." Said Ash as he pointed to himself and Pikachu.
"It's an honor to have you here Mr. Ketchum and Ms. Shirona, if you don't mind, would you consider being a guest teacher for some of our students for the day?" Asked Henry.
Ash and Cynthia looked at each other for a moment before turning to Henry.
"Sure why not?" They both said.
Ash was now standing behind a desk in front of a classroom full of senior year students many of whom were excited to have a regional champion teach their class with Pikachu sitting to the side of the desk watching.
"Now I know many of you are excited to be learning from me but from what I've heard from your actual teacher there's honestly not a lot of things I can teach you that you don't already know."
Many students had a crestfallen look on their faces at this.
"So instead I'll teach you some things that will be crucial to how you progress as a Trainer."
The class then gave Ash their undivided attention.
"I want you to always remember these three things, First off, you have to train with your Pokémon and be ready for anything". Ash began the lesson with the whole class listening carefully. Secondly: No matter what you face, believe in yourself and your Pokémon and even if you lose, you gave it your best shot. Third: Believe in your own potential and that of your Pokémon. And if you can't do it alone, let your Pokémon help you. When you're with a Pokémon, it's like your muscles and your mind get a lot stronger. And that's called: Pokémon Power".
"Pokémon Power?" Asked one student.
"It's where both people and Pokémon work together to accomplish their goals".
The whole class was inspired by Ash's words as they let his words sink in.
Cynthia was also in front of a classroom full of students and she was currently writing on the whiteboard that was on the wall behind her.
"When every life meets another life, something will be born". Those were the words that were inscribed on an ancient tablet that I saw in Amity Square in an old ruin dedicated to the Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia in my home region of Sinnoh. Aside from my duties as Champion I also love to study archeology and so I travel to places all over the world to find and explore ancient ruins so I can study them and the things they may contain. Speaking of Sinnoh according to some art and inscriptions I also learned that a long long time ago the region of Sinnoh was once known as the Hisui Region back when Pokéballs were only recently invented and even before then."
Many students were fascinated by the things Cynthia told them and many looked eager to learn more.
Ash and Cynthia had finished giving their lectures to the students when a faculty member asked them if they could please head on down to the battlefields in the front of the school as the Headmaster wanted to see them.
Ash and Cynthia now stood in front of the headmaster both with confused looks on their faces.
"Thank you both very much for everything you've done for our students here." Said Henry as he bowed his head to the two.
"It was no problem really." Said Ash as Cynthia nods.
"Be that as it may, I'd like to thank you both for what you've done today."
At that moment a faculty member came with an incubator with a Pokémon egg inside it as they handed it to Henry.
"Please accept this as a token of our thanks here at the school."
Ash and Cynthia wanted to decline but knew that he wouldn't take "no" for an answer and thought it was best to accept it.
"Why don't you go ahead and take it Cynthia." Said Ash as he turns to her who looks at him in surprise.
"Me? Are you sure?" She asks.
"Yeah I'm sure whatever Pokémon is inside it will be a good part of your team."
"Well in that case, thank you very much Henry." She says to him with a bow.
Cynthia takes the case from Henry as she looks at the Pokémon egg in her hands.
"Do you know what kind of Pokémon is in the egg?"
Henry laughs a little at her question "Well now, I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise now would I? All I can tell you is that it's native to the Alola Region."
"Alola huh? What about you Ash, do you know what it is?"
Ash and Pikachu in turn just laugh as he then just pats Cynthia's head before rubbing it. "You'll just have to wait and see for yourself Cynth.
Cynthia in turn pouts slightly at the nickname and his refusal to tell her while lightly blushing at him rubbing her head. "I thought I told you not to call me Cynth."
"Ah c'mon lighten up will ya."
As the two continue to banter Henry clears his throat.
"Mr. Ketchum, if I may ask that you fulfill one selfish request of this old man."
"Hey now there's no need for that, just call me Ash."
"Very well then Ash, would you and Pikachu be so kind as to have a battle with me as one final lesson to the students?"
If there was one thing Ash and Pikachu don't like to turn down it's a battle.
"Yeah sure! We'd be happy to! Right buddy?"
"Pika!" Said Pikachu.
"Thank you, well then shall we?"
With that both Ash and Henry stood on opposite sides of the battlefield with Cynthia acting as referee.
"This will be a 1 on 1 battle." Said Cynthia. "The battle will end when one Pokémon on either side is unable to continue."
"Alright Pikachu I choose you!" Said Ash as he threw his arm forward allowing his partner to run off it and jump onto the field.
"Pika!"
"Kangaskahn I require your aid!" Said Henry as he threw a Pokéball releasing the Parent Pokémon.
"Kangaskahn!" It roared.
Cynthia then raised her arm before throwing it down "Battle Start!"
"Use Fake Out!"
Kangaskahn quickly stood in front of Pikachu before both it and the baby in it's pouch clapped their hands in front of Pikachu's face, startling it.
"Now Mega Kick!"
Kangaskahn then kicked Pikachu right in the gut as it was sent flying straight into the air.
Ash was very impressed with Henry's battle tactic. It showed he was taking this seriously and going for the win and it would be completely disrespectful if he did not do the same in turn, so in turn he smirks as he yells out his command. "Pikachu spin and use Iron Tail!"
"Pikaaaa!" Said Pikachu as it began to somersault down with its tail coated metal.
"Intercept them with Mega Punch!"
Kengaskahn winded a fist back as Pikachu began to descend as soon as the mouse began to unleash it's attack it threw it's fist forward hitting the tail stopping it with the force of the two moves causing a strong force of wind to fly through the area causing students to be pushed back.
"It appears your Pikachu is locked in a stalemate with my Kangaskahns attack, however we still have a free hand, Mega Punch!"
"Substitute!" yelled Ash.
Kangaskahn threw its punch at Pikachu only for it to break off from the power struggle leaving a clone making the second attack to phase through as it then stumbled.
"We expected you'd try that so we made sure to have a quick escape handy." Said Ash as Pikachu stood in front of him again.
"I expect nothing less from the man who became Alola's first Champion."
Ash smiled at Henry's words before he then took off his hat and threw it up into the air causing everyone present to look at the cap.
"Pikachu!"
Pikachu knew immediately what to do as it jumped up into the hat causing it to be on it's head before quickly adjusting it.
"Let's use our full power!" He said as he raised his Z-Ring above his head as it quickly glowed causing massive amounts of electricity to flow from the center of it.
"What is that?" Asked one student.
"A Z-Move!" Said another.
"A Z-Move, huh?" Said Henry as he began to sweat at the display of power.
Everyone was in awe especially Cynthia who had never seen Ash use one before and despite having used one herself it was nothing like this.
"A Z-Move..." Said Cynthia in shock and awe.
Ash then crossed his arms as the symbol on the Z-Crystal glowed as well.
As Pikachu descended it and Ash fist bumped before high fiving each other with Pikachu using it's tail then when it landed Ash and Pikachu winded their right fist back with their other arm and fist diagonally in front of them before wind it back as they threw their right fist forward as Pikachu began to be engulfed in Z- Power.
"Far greater than 100,000 Volts... 1,000,000 Volts! No, way, way greater then that! Our super full power!"
"Pika Pika!"
"Pikachu! 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu then jumps into the air generating a large amount of electricity as storm clouds began to cover the sky allowing Pikachu to absorb the electricity from them.
"Pikaaa! Pika! Pika! Pika! Pika! Pika! Pika! Pika! PikaPIKAAAAAAAAA!" Pikachu yells as it finished absorbing the electricity before creating a ball of electricity as it then shoots out seven different colored bolts of electricity at Kangaskhan.
"KANGASKAHN PROTECT QUICK!" Yells Henry.
Kangaskahn hastily puts up a barrier as one of the thunderbolts makes contact but even a single bolt was too much for it to handle as it quickly broke through along with the six other remaining bolts causing a giant surge of electricity to surge up into the air blinding everyone.
When everyone could see again they saw Kangaskahn in a big crater with swirls in it's eyes as there were still sparks of electricity coming off it while Pikachu was still wearing Ash's hat was in front of it still standing looking slightly out of breath.
"Kangaskahn is unable to battle! Pikachu wins! As such, the winner is Ash!" Declared Cynthia.
"Sweet we did it buddy!" Said Ash as Pikachu climbed back up his shoulder returning his hat as they celebrated.
Cynthia had gone back to a nearby bench to get her egg and watched Ash and Pikachu interact and she couldn't help but blush at the sight.
"When every life meets another life, something will be born... That's what the Sinnoh legends say and I firmly believe in that quote... Something was born when we first met in Amity Square, but I had no idea of what it was... maybe I was too focused on what his rivalry with Paul would become, maybe I didn't notice it because I thought he was too young, but now that he's grown... now that I see the person he has become, the things he has done... I love him, I truly do," She thought to herself as she self consciously held her egg's case a little tighter as the egg unbeknownst to her briefly glowed.
After returning his Pokémon Henry walked over to Ash as he extended his hand to him. "Thank you for the battle Ash, I see that you're a Champion for a reason."
Ash shook Henry's hand as Pikachu went back on his shoulder as Cynthia then went and stood next to him. "Thanks Henry it was a good battle, if you ever want a rematch let me know."
After that the duo said their farewells and left to continue their journey to Vermilion City.
"I gotta say I had more fun than I thought I would teaching a class." Ash said. "So do you have any idea when that egg of yours is gonna hatch?"
"Well from what Henry told me it shouldn't be too long, When we get to Vermilion City I'll ask Nurse Joy to take a look at it to know for sure." Said Cynthia.
"I'm excited to see what kind of Pokémon it is. Aren't you Cynth?"
"I am and I know that whatever it is it'll be a good addition to the family."
Ash in turn had a small look of surprise as he raised an eyebrow at Cynthia. "Oh? What happened to you telling me not to call you Cynth"
Cynthia's face turned pink as she looked away from him. "I doubt that you'll stop calling me that so I've decided to just go with it is all."
Ash then gave her a pat on the pack but unfortunately he did it a little too hard causing her to almost drop her egg case.
And now their journey continues with Ash running away from an angry Cynthia as she chases after him in fury with the threat of feeding him to her Garchomp when she catches him.
Alright alright before you pull out the torches and pitchforks ik I've been hella late on this, I originally planned to post this 2 weeks ago when Ash bested Cynthia in the Masters Tournament, but hey at least it's here now right? So Cynthia has been given a Pokémon egg and I'm sure you all know what it'll hatch too if not here's a hint, Pokémon Masters EX. Now I'm am actually going to be focusing more on the other fic as I left it in the middle of a tournament arc so updates to this story will be slow (or slower then usual) but as an apology for the wait here's a special preview trailer for my upcoming 3rd fic which when I do post it will have low priority as I want to mainly focus on my first 2. So without further ado hope you enjoy the preview.
Saffron City, the largest city in Kanto. Home to the Saffron Gym, the Fighting Dojo and the famous Silph Company, a place where many trainers travel to in their journey in order to compete in the Pokémon League was in ruins with many buildings destroyed throughout the city, as well as parts of the ground standing up and sticking out, signs that a Pokémon battle took place, within the ruined city as the sun was setting was a young girl with short snow white hair and sky blue eyes at the age of 9 wearing a sky blue blouse with a white vest and skirt, with a light blue sash worn as a belt with a matching blue bow in her hair, in front of her was a Pokémon Trainer with spiky raven black hair wearing a blue vest with yellow outlines, a white short sleeve undershirt with a red stripe, indigo shorts with black outlines, and black sneakers with blue highlights. His hat is red with a black Pokéball design in the shape of the letter C. His backpack is green and black with one pocket and a C-shaped Pokéball design similar to the one on his hat. On his shoulder was a Pikachu.
"Awe!" Said the young girl in awestruck as the trainer crouched down to her level and gave her a Pokémon Egg that was white with light blue flower patterns.

"It's where both people and Pokémon work together to accomplish their goals". The Trainer explained to the young girl about Pokémon Power, who slowly began to understand as he stood up and placed a hat that was red and white with a green, stylized "L" in the front on the young girl's head.
The young girl looked up at the trainer holding the egg in one arm while adjusting the hat on her head that was too big for her so that she could see him with the other.
"No matter how bad things get, never give up until the end, raise and care for your Pokémon with all your heart, trust them, become stronger together and one day you can become a Trainer who surpasses even me."
7 years later
A young woman with Long, waist length snow white hair with bangs that curl away from her face in a horizontal direction with sky blue color eyes wearing a plain white T-shirt and blue short jeans under light blue hoodie is currently battling a guy about a year or 2 older then her with red outlined short black hair, purple eyes, wearing a black outlined white coat with a red diamond in the middle, black outlined white pants.
"Alright, Vulpix use Ice Beam!" She said
"Vullpiiixxx!"
"Banette dodge it!" Said the young man.
The ghost type did as told and was able to dodge the attack with ease.
"Hmph, not bad for a kid, tell me who you are?"
"My name is Aurora Yukina! And my dream is to surpass the Legendary Trainer Ash Ketchum!"
"HA! You?! Surpass him?! Dream on!"
Aurora was now facing a guy with long, neck length, black hair with a red forelock that covers his right eye, has an X shaped scar on his face, wearing long black pants, along with a gray and maroon long coat with a maroon shirt underneath and His right arm is wrapped completely in bandages with a look of disbelief on her face at how he wiped the floor with her in battle.
As he turns his back to her he says to her, "Forget about everything. That way, you won't be hurt."
