So this was a random endeavor that almost took my makeshift sleep schedule away from me last night, but I decided to hold off on posting it until now lol
I hope you guys enjoy this normal little snippet of my favorite little lovebirds :) Much love, mates!
The cafe was bustling with a nearly silent buzz as I typed away on my laptop. A paper for my online English class glaring back at me as Claire sat quietly across from me. The only sound coming from the punk was the scratches of her pen upon her sketchbook. I was trying my hardest to finish my essay, but I kept getting distracted.
What of exactly?
I glanced over my laptop to look over my girlfriend's concentrated face as she was scribbling away at her drawing.
A completely silent witch that was too beautiful to even keep my gaze away from for more than a few minutes.
Her white and black hair was a lot longer in comparison to how long it was when we first started dating. She had it up in a messy bun with a few strands of it left on each side of her face like it was framing her soft features. Her eyebrows were knitted slightly as her concentration was evident in her eyes. I smiled widely though as I noted that her tongue was poking just a little out of the left corner of her mouth.
Gods, she's beautiful.
My smile widened as I reached out to where my hot chocolate was on the table so I had an excuse for when Claire would question why I wasn't typing away. I kept my eyes on her though as I brought my cup to my lips.
Having a normal day to sit here and enjoy the beauty that was my girlfriend wasn't something I could say I got a lot of over the years the two of us have been together. But whenever I did, I would make a point to enjoy it as much as I could.
I put my cup back onto the table as I swallowed the warm drink with a content sigh.
I don't think she would mind anyway. Besides the fact that I was ignoring the homework that we specifically came here to help me focus on, but that was beside the matter.
I flashed her a toothy grin as she glanced up toward me for a moment before doing a double-take.
"What are you doing?"
"Looking at you."
"Jim." A smile conflicted against the anger in her voice as she looked up at me once more. "Are you even in your second paragraph yet?"
"Does it matter?"
"Your paper is due tonight, Jim."
"Yeah? Can't I just enjoy this moment? It's not very often I get a calm moment with my sorcerous girlfriend." She just shook her head at me as I pushed my laptop a little to the side. "What are you drawing anyway?"
"You would like to know now, wouldn't you?" She just gave me a soft smile as she brought her sketchbook down so that it was sitting in her lap but leaning against the table as well.
"I would, but I know you. I'm only allowed to see when it's done or you want to." She shot a glance up toward me once more before lowering her eyes to the sketchpad once more to add some more details to her drawings. My smile widened as I just let out a soft chuckle.
That tells me enough who her subject is at least.
"Are you enjoying this one? Anything new you're trying?"
"Just aiding a little bit more shadows than normal." She switched her pen with a small smudging tool I knew she left on the table before using it somewhere on the drawing. "Trying to do so with ink before it dries is a bitch though." I chuckled at her once more as she switched the two items once more.
"I could imagine. But you know me. I don't have an artistic bone in my body."
"You did pretty well when it came to acting."
"I was trying way too hard with that, honestly." I reached up and scratched the back of my neck with my right hand as I let out a soft laugh.
"You were trying to impress me, huh?" She glanced up at me with a smirk before bringing her attention back to her drawing. "Cute. You didn't have to do much to get my attention though. I was interested in getting to know you since you walked up to me and stuttered out a Spanish introduction of yourself to me." I blushed as she just let out a soft giggle.
"Really? That got your attention?"
"Is there something wrong with that?" She brought her gaze back up to me as a warm smile appeared over her lips.
"Besides the fact that it was embarrassing as fuck?" She just laughed a little before she adjusted the sketchpad in her lap before reaching out with her left hand to take my right one into hers.
"You were adorable. You were kind. Most importantly though," She brought my hand up slightly so our fingers could interlock together. "You were different." I smiled at her words as our thumbs twirled gently around one another.
Her hands were always so much smaller than mine. Half-troll or not, my hand could engulf hers if I really wanted to.
I adjusted our hands so that they made a small bridge on the table as she just giggled a little in response.
But they always felt like they were meant for each other. Even when I was twice her size, they just seemed to fit like lost pieces to a forgotten puzzle.
"I love you," I said the words softly as I watched her smile just as softly in return.
"I love you too, silly." I smiled like a fool in reply as she slipped her hand out of mine. "But you've got a paper, remember? Your professor's not going to give you any more chances." I sighed as I brought my laptop back to where it was originally.
"If I finish it though, do I get to see your drawing of me?" I watched her out of the corner of my eye once more as she just shook her head a little at me.
"Give me a well-finished paper and I'll add a kiss to the equation." I felt a new urge to write fill my system as I started typing away at my laptop once more. A giggle coming from my girlfriend as a wide grin took over my lips.
There weren't many days I had a normal day with my girlfriend.
I glanced over toward her once more to see the beautiful smile she had on her face as she continuing sketching away at her drawing.
But I loved the ones we shared more than nearly anything.
Well. Nearly. Everything but her, of course.
