A/N: Hi! Here is 1st chapter. I wanted to make it longer, had made it longer, however, decided to split it into two chapters, after all, the second one half-way done. Like always, I am looking for a beta-reader and hoping for reviews and constructed criticism.
Have fun reading! ^^
The clock struck midnight when green smoke suddenly appeared in Namimori Central park. A cough came from the mist, which, when it cleared, revealed young teen with shoulder-length caramel-brown hair and cat-like-ish yellow eyes. The teen was dressed in black lace-up boots till her knees, black pants, yellow button-up blouse and a brown coat.
"Heh… what an inconvenient time to come. Bovino's must have made some small miscalculation." The figure said in a very feminine voice. Her stomach rumbled for food, but she had no usable money, the banks were closed at this time, and she doubted that a 24/7 convenient store would accept her money.
With a heavy sigh the girl decided to explore the town, which would be her home for an unknown period of time. She avoided some police cars, some alleys that her instincts told her to avoid if she didn't want to get in trouble. But she was able to find her way past Namimori middle school, Takesushi and finally reach the house with 'Sawada' tablet attached to it's wall.
She looked at the house and wondered if Reborn already was in the facility or not. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and let her senses take over. She could feel quite strong Lightning flames, weaker Storm flames, and a lot weaker Sun flame. There was also was a strong Sky flame, but no hint of a strong Sun flame.
"I guess that Bianchi and Lambo are already here…" the girl muttered to herself. But then she felt quite strong Storm flame approaching. It seemed familiar to her, but she couldn't quite place a finger on it to remember, so she hid herself in the darkness between two lamppost lights and knealed down to be harder to notice.
After about two-three minutes a figure came from around a block corner and when the person came into the light, the light revealed none other than the relentless Storm guardian of Vongola Decimo – Gokudera Hayato. It made the girl smile, to see him well and in one piece, however, it also made her feel great sadness. Tears sprung in her eyes from seeing the Storm Guardian alive. Where she came from, he was no more. But then a frown appeared on-top of the teary eyes.
'He should be sleeping.' The girl thought. In her mind she thought that there was no threat in this time, and Reborn was there to ensure the safety of Sawada Tsunayoshi. Or did the bomber underestimate Reborn's capabilities? After a minute or so of watching the Sawada residence, the bomber turned around and left the direction he came from.
"Who are you?" Suddenly she heard from behind, as well as the safely of a gun being taken off. The caramelette slowly rose from her kneeling position, both hand raised up to show that she had no weapons, and turned around to see the world's greatest hitman standing on the wall of Sawada residence and pointing his green gun at her. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly to calm her already high-wire nerves.
"I am an ally, Reborn. In my pocket I have proof of it. May I take it out and show it to you?" she asked. Her voice was calm – she forced it to be calm – because it was Reborn, someone she knew, but secretly she was weary, since Reborn did not know her, and the safety of the gun was released. If he were to soot, she would not be able to dodge it.
"Alright, show it to me." Reborn replied in his squeaky baby voice. He was interested in what kind of proof would the girl show for him not to kill her on spot. The girl slowly took out a picture from her pocket and unfolded it with her fingers.
"What is that?" Reborn asked, not being able to discern the contents of the picture in the dark.
"A photo of my famiglia. My family for whom I would do anything…" she said as she moved into the light "… even go to the past to ensure that they survive."
Once the picture was in the light, Reborn's eyes widened in genuine surprise before he was able to hide it under his fedora.
"Who are you?" Reborn asked, comparing the girl to one if the children in the photo.
"I am Sawada Sakiko, daughter of Sawada Tsunayoshi and the Undicesima of Vongola."
"You appear to be older than in the picture." Reborn noted.
"That is because it was taken 15 years from now, when papa and his famiglia were… were still alive." To say the last words made her choke on sudden tears. Not even once she had said those words outload. Somehow it made her feel that it was final. Even Reborn was dead in the time she came from. Yet seeing him in front of her alive seemed to give her some sense of safety. Safety she hadn't felt in a long time.
Sakiko's words caught Reborn of guard yet again, how he was quick to demand an explanation. The girl took a deep breath and let it out muttering something under her breath to get a hold of herself. If it weren't so late and quiet, Reborn's wouldn't have caught the words: "They need me, I must be strong, they need me."
Hearing, seeing the young girl cling to such words like a mantra made a ping of pity appear in Reborn, not that he would ever admit it. But he did give Sakiko the few seconds she needed to get herself together.
"20 years from now Vongola no longer exists. 17 years from now the Vongola main mansion was attacked with no prior warning. We were caught of-guard. After the initial attack everyone associated with Vongola – allied famiglia's unknowing workers, innocent civilians – were killed. We had to run, had to hide and live of scraps of food that were given to us by those that still dared to remember Vongola's kindness towards them, despite the death threat. I'm one of the very few survivors. The most well-hidden Bovino's found me two days ago and informed me of their desperate, untested invention. A gun along with a pill that would send me back in time and allow me to remain there. They warned that it might kill me because I don't exist in this era, but I didn't care, don't care that I could disappear any moment. I must help Decimo and his famiglia to grow and learn to survive. To be strong enough to protect those who are dear to them and me. Both family and famiglia."
Reborn could tell that Sakiko told no lies. Her eyes told Reborn that she had indeed gone through hell and clang to this small light of hope. And also sadness mixed with fondness when she looked at him, as she knew him well, so he had Leon return back to his lizard form.
"I'll arrange for you to stay here." Reborn said with no room for objections.
"That would be very nice, thank you." Sakiko said with a small smile and then added "Go to sleep. I'll keep watch."
"Alright. I bid you good night." Reborn said, tipping his hat towards the Vongola donna and jumped down the wall, leaving her sight.
Sakiko put the photo back in her pocket and leaned against the wall in the shadows between the two lampposts. She fingered her imperial topaz gemmed ring that acted as her Sky flame ring as she looked up at the starry sky, which caused a strong sense of nostalgia. She had missed Reborn. He was one of her mentors in the future, as well as a close person to her heart.
"No. I must be strong." Sakiko whispered to herself angrily, as tears wanted to fall again. "No more tears."
