After cleaning herself up, Sakiko went out of the bathroom to hear that Nana had returned due to Lambo's loud nature. As she was entering the living room, her instinct told her to back away, which she did only to find a green dagger imbed into the doorway.
"Not bad." Commented Reborn. Sakiko pulled the dagger out of the doorway and turned towards the hitman.
"Why did you do that?" She asked, returning the now-chameleon to its owner.
"To evaluate your instincts." Reborn said and patted a file for Sakiko to take. Opening the file, Sakiko was met by her own picture attached to it. She wondered how did Reborn get the picture, but, well… he was Reborn. No other explanation needed. Looking at the other papers, she saw that the hitman had put her real name – Sawada Sakiko – and had her have both parents, Sawada Ieyatsu and Shikora Sakura, be deceased.
"What relationship should I say, if I am asked about my surname?" Sakiko decided to ask.
"That you aren't related to him. In addition, you will have to attend Namimori Middle school. I expect you to give in the papers yourself, saying that professor Boreen suggested you to transfer to the school." Reborn explained and pulled out an envelope, and gave it to Sakiko.
"Thank you." The caramelette said with a smile appearing on her lips. When she opened the envelope, she saw a card with some papers and a quite large amount of paper money, which made her look at the Sun Arcobaleno questioningly.
"Can't have the Vongola heiress run around with nothing in her pocket, can I? Don't worry, it all comes from Vongola." He explained to the teen. Sakiko hid both the file and envelope in one of the inner pockets of her coat and went to the kitchen, where Nana was putting away the groceries, saying another quiet 'thank you' to Reborn. Sakiko quietly knocked on the kitchen's doorway not to startle her grandmother.
"I apologize about my earlier behavior. It was rude of me to storm out like that." Sakiko said with a small bow as Nana turned to look at her. "I will try not to let it happen again."
Nana blinked at the bowing girl, surprised at it, even though it was appropriate. Tsuna would have simply scratched the back of his head and look sheepish about the ordeal.
"It's alright, Sakiko-chan. I am sure you had your reasons for it." Nana replied calmly. Sge thought of Sakiko as a nice girl, even if her edges weren't the smoothest. "You don't need to apologize."
Sakiko looked up at Nana surprised at the last words. She had not expected them. She didn't remember the last time she had heard them, or even if she had heard them at all. The girl was happy to have finally met her grandmother. It partially revealed the origins of her father's big heart – an all-composing and accepting Sky.
"How about I show you your room?" Nana offered and the caramelette agreed.
The house matriarch led Sakiko to the second floor and opened a certain door, letting her see the interior. The room was quite spacious. A double bed in the middle of the far wall with a nightstand on both sides of it, a wardrobe by the right wall and a chest of drawers with six drawers in two columns. Above the chest of drawers there was a small bookshelf attached to the wall.
"I hope you don't mind sharing with Bianchi-san."
"I'm alright with it, thought I don't know about her." Sakiko answered truly not minding sharing a room with her future aunty.
"I don't mind." The pinkette answered behind them, startling Nana.
"By the way, Sakiko-chan, where are your belongings?" The ditzy matriarch asked in a moment of not-ditziness.
"This is all I have. I travel extra light. Don't worry about it. I need to give in my papers at the middle school, and on the way back I will go on a shopping spree." Sakiko reassured before Nana decided to go shopping on her own and buy clothes that didn't suit her needs and taste. "Speaking of which, I should get going while the office is still open."
"Is that so? Well, have a nice trip then." Nana said in turn. Saying 'good bye' to everyone, Sakiko laced her boots and left.
Her trip was a quick and peaceful. Something she hadn't had the pleasure of having for last three years of her life. Upon reaching the Namimori middle school, Sakiko was stopped by fee boys with a pampador hairstyle and a red armband attached to their uniform jacket's right sleeve.
"What is your business here?" One of them approached and Sakiko answered: "Good day. I am here to apply as a student. Could you point me in the direction of the office, please?"
One of them appraised her look, but nodded head and led her to the office's. It didn't take long for Sakiko to be done there. All she needed to drop was professor Boreen's name and that he suggested her to apply to this school to get her papers done quickly and without pesky questions. What surprised her, not really, was that the boy who led her here was waiting outside of the office.
"Could you show me to class 1-A, pleae, so that I would know where it is?"
"Alright." The boy answered and started moving, which made him miss a very sad look be directed at him.
"May I inquire your name?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
"Kusakabe Tetsuya."
"Sawada Sakiko. It is a pleasure to meet you, Kusakabe-san."
"Are you related to Sawada Tsunayoshi?" Kusakabe asked, remembering the often-truant boy.
"No." The tone Sakiko said this was polite, however Tetsuya was able to read that the conversation was over. He had to learn to read people very quickly unless he wanted to be 'bitten to death' by the Disciplinary committee's chairman.
As if reading his mind, Sakiko asked: "May I join the Disciplinary committee?"
"Why do you want to join?" Kusakabe asked, hoping for a weak answer so that he wouldn't need to take her to his chairman. He did not know how would Hibari react to a girl wanting to join.
"I am new to this town, yet I've already fallen in love with it. However, I know that even in the most peaceful town there are those who want to disrupt its peace. Schools are one of such places. I want to help maintain that peace." Sakiko answered, pushing on the right buttons to be accepted. Kusakabe himself had once told her that the committee, well, Hibari, was one of the forces maintaining the peace of Namimori and, despite the methods, all of them cared for the school and its students.
After a moment of contemplating the answer, Tetsuya said: "I'll take you to the chairman."
Once the duo reached the reception room, Kusakabe knocked on the door before opening it. Sakiko peered under the tall student's arm to see a room with two coaches and a table between them, some pots with plants and a smaller table to the side with an electric kettle on it. However, her gaze was drawn towards the figure by the window. Leaning against it was the president of the Disciplinary committee – Hibari Kyouya – in his younger glory.
"What is it?" Hibari asked in a bored tone, head slightly tilted to one side to see who intruded his peace.
"Hibari-san, this is Sawada Sakiko. She will be attending this school starting tomorrow and would like to be a part of the Disciplinary committee." Kusakabe answered, straight to the point.
This seemed to pique his attention, since he asked: "Are you strong?"
"Depends on one's perspective of term... Hibari-sama." Sakiko answered, almost calling him Kyouya-sama like she was used to. This Hibari was very similar to her Hibari… the one who died in front of her eyes. It took all of her willpower not to burst into tears, fully well knowing that both this and her Hibari would disapprove of it.
"Fight me." The boy said, taking one of his tonfa's from behind himself. If it weren't for her keen sight, it would have seemed that the weapon simply appeared out of nowhere.
"Could we go to the roof first? It would be a shame to destroy this room." Sakiko offered, pushing one of Hibari's buttons. He hated that his work place, area, call it as you like, was a mess. With that thought in mind, he pushed past the duo by the door with an annoyed 'fine'.
Upon reaching the roof, Sakiko took of her precious coat and asked Kusakabe to hold it during the spar, which he agreed to. The main reason why she took the coat off was to silently say to Hibari that she was taking the spar seriously.
The moment she was few feet away from the vice president of the Disciplinary committee, Sakiko had to dodge a tonfa aimed towards her chest with a clear intent of knocking the air out of her lungs. After jumping back few times and keeping the distance, Sakiko could easily read her opponent's movements, since they were very direct and without faints. She was deliberately only observing Hibari while dodging all of his attacks to see if he could grow from the spar. She could tell that he had limitless potential due to his enormous Cloud flame locked inside of him.
"Stop running, herbivore." The boy in front of her growled in annoyance to which Sakiko only smiled in return. This time instead of dodging, the caramelette met the boy half-way and grabbed the tonfa aimed at her. For a person who hadn't had to go through hell with spartan tutors, the force used in the attack was good. "I am not a herbivore, Hibari-sama."
The only reply she received from the boy was his other tonfa going for her cheek, which she dodged by letting go the first tonfa and jumping back.
In the sidelines, Kusakabe was looking in a fearful awe. Not once he had seen someone stand their ground against his chairman whom he respected and held in a high regard. He could only watch how the new girl avoided all if the attacks with ease, and wondering what would happen if she went all-out offense. But he didn't have to wait long as after few more dodges, she lunged forward, redirecting the tonfa aimed at her with one hand and the other fist went towards her opponent's stomach. He could have sworn that he noticed an orange hue appear in her eyes as she went for the attack. He could have also sworn that he heard a grunt of pain coming from Hibari, but he wouldn't, since he liked to live.
However, the fight didn't end there. Thee Hibari Kyouya could not be taken out just by one successful hit. His pride didn't allow that, so he remained conscious by sheer willpower. He tried to hit the girl with his other tonfa, but she jumped back to a safe distance.
"May we end here? It is getting late and there are some other things I need to do before sunset." Sakiko offered so that she wouldn't have to make another attack to show that she wasn't weak. She gave him an excuse to be able to inspect the wound. She knew that her punches weren't weak. She had been trained mercilessly for them not to be weak.
"Fine." Hibari grunted, straightening his back and stalked towards the roof's door. "I expect you to be here tomorrow after school."
Once Hibari was off the roof, Sakiko went to Kusakabe to retrieve her coat, after which he led her to a room full of spare school uniforms. While Sakiko took a set of the uniform her size, she heard Kusakabe say: "Come to the Disciplinary committee's room before classes tomorrow. I will give you your armband and tell you your duties," after which he escorted her out of the school's premises.
