I thought we could all use a little bit of sweetness so I hope you like this chapter! Thank you for continuing to read and send feedback even when everything around us is scary. Sending lots of love to you and yours
"Penny for your thoughts?" Jay asked when Erin sighed again, "What's going through your head, babe?"
"I'm just thinking about how anxious she is," Erin murmured, gently threading her fingers through Piper's hair as the child snuggled in closely, her small form relaxed in sleep. "She worries about us, about the boys…no wonder she doesn't sleep." She looked up at Jay worriedly. "I go back to work in a week, babe. That's only going to make things worse."
"It might be a step toward normalcy," Jay replied, leaning over to press a kiss to the top of her head. Both of his girls were tucked in his side, Piper wedged right between them on the couch. His little bug had been particularly snuggly after doing her best to be mature and grown up in the months after her brothers' arrival, and Jay was more than happy to oblige. They had come to an agreement with Piper's school that she wouldn't be kept out of recess for additional schoolwork and that she could take her tests earlier in the day with how tired she had been, which put him and Erin at ease. The reports from Piper's teachers were already better, and it helped that she'd been able to sleep through the night for a week.
But normalcy was still a ways away.
He paused when Erin didn't reply. "Do you not want to go back?" he hedged, unsure if his girl would answer. They'd always talked about Erin returning to work in the role she'd recently been promoted to. It was a great title and an amazing step in her career, and also wouldn't require much travel. Her job would be a textbook desk job that involved coordination across multiple FBI departments – so she would be on the phone most of the day. It even offered the flexibility for her to work at home if she wanted to.
Their current plan was for the boys to go to daycare for the morning and that Erin would pick them up when Piper's school got out as well. She would then put the boys down for an afternoon nap while she wrapped up a few emails from home.
All things considered, Jay was fairly confident in their plan. The daycare was also a nursery school and he and Erin had stopped by to vet the location months prior when they were preparing for their sons' arrival. It was on the route to Piper's school, which would make it easy for Erin to pick up all their kids after school and bring them home. Even though the plan was solid, Jay could tell just how stressed Erin was growing about the prospect of dropping their sons off and driving away.
"No, I do," Erin said with an exhale, "I was…I was feeling really guilty about wanting to go back. Like, really guilty." She swallowed. "I love being a mom. Their mom. All of their mom." She continued to stroke Piper's hair carefully, forever in awe of how little and sweet her baby girl was. "But I like my job. I'm good at it. And I think it can help us provide them with a really good life." Erin leaned down to kiss Piper's forehead. "Like Disney world. Or the beach. I know I mentioned it casually before but I want to do that for her. And the boys, when they're older."
"I can be a Disney dad," Jay promised, "I've already got the fanny packs." He smiled when Erin rolled her eyes. "I know you're incredible at your job, babe. We'll figure it out when the time comes."
"Time is coming quickly," she replied, "It's moving too fast. She's going to be eleven in May. Eleven, Jay. That's not right." Erin shook her head and held her baby girl closer. "I was…I was hanging out with teenagers when I was eleven. I had my first beer when I was twelve, I-" She paused, unable to continue. It was too painful to think about the child cuddled into her side doing anything like she did when she was growing up.
"Time is a thief," he murmured, toying with the ends of her hair, "But she's a kid, Er. And she's our kid. We're going to do our best to keep her away from anything you were forced into when you were a kid." Jay took a breath, trying to push the thoughts of Piper drinking beer out of his head. His daughter was wearing pajamas with squirrels on them. There was no way in hell she was drinking anytime soon.
Erin sighed. "We should bring her up." She stroked the top of Piper's head with her fingertips. "I think she's still catching up on all the sleep she didn't get these past few months."
"She slept last night," Jay reminded her, offering a small smile, "And every night this week." The boys seamlessly adjusted to their nursery and had been sleeping through the night for over a week. He was hoping that their own bedroom would help Erin's limited sleep and allow them to have some much needed time together. Instead, their little bug clung tightly to Jay so much so that she'd spent the night in their bed ever since the boys moved. He and Erin both knew it was important for Piper to sleep in her own bed, but having her close allowed everyone in their family the good night sleep they needed.
Plus, waking up to Piper snuggled into his side was one of his favorite things ever.
Erin opened her mouth to reply but paused when she felt her daughter flinch against her. Her heart clenched when Piper turned her head in her sleep, her features that were previously relaxed and serene now pinched in anguish. "Hey, hey, you're okay," Jay whispered, moving his hand from Erin's head to Piper's shoulder, "You're safe, bug."
A distressed whine rolled off Piper's lips as she fought the nightmare, her small form shaking between her parents. "Shh, baby girl," Erin cooed, her heart pounding in her chest, "Mommy and Daddy are here." She looked up at Jay, moisture in her eyes. "Babe, if she's having bad dreams and we're right here-"
"It means they're worse when we're not," Jay supplied, stroking Piper's hair back, "I know. Pipes, you're safe. Wake up, kiddo."
Piper's eyes snapped open when she drew in a gasp for air, rapidly glancing around the living room. Her heart was pounding in her ears as she fought to recognize where she was. She was home and safe, right between her mommy and daddy. The bad dreams felt real, but they were just in her head. It was just her head.
"S-sorry," she stammered, shifting away from her mommy, "I'm okay."
Erin exchanged a look with her partner. Her baby was far from okay. She was trembling and clearly distressed from whatever horrible images plagued her dreams. "You're safe," Jay repeated, "But it's alright if you're not okay."
"Where are the boys?" she managed, "They-they're not here!"
"They're sleeping upstairs," Erin soothed, reaching to pull the baby monitor from the side table, "Look. They're right here. Both snoozing." She held the baby monitor so that Piper could clearly see both Liam and Ryan asleep in their cribs.
Piper hiccupped as she looked at the screen. "We've always got eyes on the boys," Jay promised, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of Piper's head, "They're safe. Not going anywhere."
Erin watched as her little girl's focus remained trained on her little brothers. "You know, we have two monitors here," she said, lifting up the screen she was holding, "This one, and the one in our bedroom." She looked over to Jay who seemed to understand where she was going. "Would it help if we brought this one into your room so you could see the boys at night too?"
Jay could feel the tenseness of his daughter abate slightly. "I…I would get to see them at night too?"
"That's right." Erin stroked her cheek gently. "You get a little worried when you can't see them huh?" She managed a smile when Piper nodded. "You know, I feel like that about you. I always feel better when I can see you."
"I keep havin' bad dreams of them getting taken away," Piper whispered sadly, "It feels really real because…because I've seen babies get taken away before." Her voice cracked. "I don't want it to happen to them."
"Oh, kiddo," Jay soothed, carefully shifting so that he could lift his little girl into his lap, "The boys aren't going anywhere. They're ours, just like you're ours." He rubbed her back gently as she crumbled into his chest, burying her face in his neck. "You love them so much, don't you?"
Erin's eyes misted when Piper nodded wordlessly. "We have two very healthy Halsteads upstairs," she said after clearing her throat, "And they're loved and safe." She scooted closer to Jay so that she could rest her head on his shoulder, her nose at Piper's cheek. "Daddy and I are going to keep all of you safe. That's a promise."
"That baby monitor thing was genius," Jay praised as he entered their bathroom, "Pipes is sound asleep. Monitor sound is off so if they wake up hopefully she won't."
Erin spat her toothpaste into the sink. "She loves them so much," she murmured, raking her hair back, "Worries me a little. If anything happens-"
"Nothing's going to happen," he interrupted, closing the gap between them, "Well, I can't promise that, but we're doing everything we can to keep them safe. I tested those baby mattresses out myself. Totally breathable. Sanitized all the bottles and toys, made sure there was nothing in the cribs." He offered a smile. "All our kids are safe and sound in their own beds, babe."
A smile formed on Erin's lips. "I like the sound of that," she replied, "Safe and sound."
"I like the in their own bed part too," Jay said, pressing a kiss to her neck, "Safe and sound, but Mommy and Daddy have their own room again."
"Mm." Erin titled her head back. "Noodle does keep you warm enough so that I can steal all the covers though. I love waking up to seeing her snuggled against you. Even if it does make me a bit jealous."
"I'm all yours tonight," Jay teased, kissing her lips gently, "What do you wanna do?"
"Last week was amazing babe, but I-" Erin paused when Jay pulled back, concern swimming in his eyes.
"Did I hurt you?" he asked, bringing a gentle hand to her stomach, "Are you bleeding again?"
"No, no," Erin promised, putting one hand on his chest, "You didn't hurt me and I'm all good. Down there." She swallowed. "I just…I just don't feel sexy, that's all." She shrugged her shoulders. "My body isn't really mine anymore."
Erin let out a breath when Jay continued to stay quiet. "I need to get used to myself looking like this," she said, gesturing to her body, "I'm not the same person I was before. And I know I'm not just going to bounce back to what I used to look like because that's just not realistic but I was trying on some of my old work stuff today and it didn't feel…right."
Jay nodded slowly. "I am fighting every instinct not to hype you up right now," he said honestly, "But I know me tellin' you that you're the most gorgeous woman I've ever laid eyes on isn't gonna help."
Her cheeks heated slightly. "Helps a little," she said, biting her bottom lip, "You do always know how to make me feel better." She let out a breath. "But I gotta get there on my own too. 's what Dr. Peterson says anyway. Be proud of myself."
"You have a lot to be proud of," Jay told her. He grimaced when Erin wrinkled her brow. "Not like that. I mean of the boys. You did that babe. You brought them here." He placed his hands on her hips. "I got the really easy fun part. Minimal contribution. But you got them here."
"Battle scars to prove it," Erin joked, lifting up the long sleeve t shirt she was wearing to show the healed incision on her belly, "Dr. Peterson said something about reframing. That I'm supposed to think about the good that came out of this instead of seeing it as a bad thing."
Jay nodded and raised his own shirt. "'s what I try to do with this one," he said, gesturing to the scar on his back from where he'd taken a knife a few months prior. "I used to see this and want to kick myself for being such an idiot." He swallowed. "But now I look at it as another chance. A chance to prove that I can be a good partner to you and a good dad to our three incredible kids."
Erin grazed her fingertips over the scar on Jay's back. "You are the best dad," she whispered, "And the most amazing partner."
He gave a smile and lifted his shirt over his head. "I almost wasn't," he replied, pointing to the scar above his right pec, "I see this scar right here and I remember back to when I was bleeding all over that warehouse floor, thinking about how big an idiot I was for letting you go again. And all I could do was try to get through it so that I could see your gorgeous eyes again."
Her eyes clouded over. Hearing that Jay had been shot and was being rushed to surgery had nearly stopped her heart. In that moment, she knew she was never going to be able to take Piper and herself back to New York. Chicago had Jay. And Jay was her home. "Babe-"
"And this one right here," Jay continued, pointing to the small scar on his shoulder, "This is the one that brought me to you. The first time. I told Antonio I wanted Intelligence. I didn't know that bullet would be one of the greatest things to ever happen to me."
Erin swallowed the lump in her throat and leaned forward to press a kiss to his shoulder. "I'm really glad you got shot," she whispered, punctuating it with a chuckle when Jay snorted, "But don't go doin' it again, you hear me? That was just something we used to joke about." She looked up at her partner seriously and rested a hand on his thigh. "Shoulder, fleshy part of the thigh…none of it. You're not takin' any more bullets."
"I will do my very best," Jay promised, "But if some other stud comes into the picture I might just have to forget my vest."
"You wouldn't dare." Erin pushed him back, eyes gleaming, "You know how much I love that vest. Almost as much as I love this face." She grazed his jaw playfully. "You're the only stud for me."
"These ones or these ones?"
Erin held out two earing options against her cheek for Piper to select. Her little bug was helping her get ready for a date night with Jay which was long overdue. It was the last Friday night before Erin went back to work and Jay had casually mentioned a celebratory dinner. Between a high risk pregnancy, several hospital stays, two babies and an anxious little girl, date nights were on the backburner.
But they both knew it was important for them to have time together outside their kids. Piper was continuing to adjust and the boys hit a sweet spot of sleeping through the night, which meant that their entire household was in better spirits.
It felt like forever since she'd dressed up, but after picking out an outfit and shoes, Erin was nervous excited. Jay had encouraged Piper to help her get ready while he tackled diaper changes and pajamas for the boys which gave Erin some quality time with her little girl.
"I think those ones," Piper determined, pointing to the small simple hoops Erin was holding up, "Also 'cause Liam might pull on the dangly ones."
"Good point," Erin agreed, dropping the larger hoops into her jewelry box. Both of her boys, but Liam especially, had taken to tugging at anything within reach. "You think Daddy got peed on tonight?"
Piper giggled and nodded. "That's how come he's getting ready after you," she said seriously, "Ryan was being really wiggly before Daddy picked out the pajamas, so I know he's gonna do it."
Erin smiled. Her little bug was doing a lot better than she had been in the past few weeks. She was sleeping better, eating more and the reports from school were far less worrisome, indicating that Piper was on the upswing. The only thing that hadn't changed was how much Piper loved her little brothers. "You know them the best," Erin mused, reaching for her perfume, "I think you read their minds."
"I see it on their faces," Piper explained, sniffing one of the perfume bottles that Erin held out to her, "Just like you."
"You read my mind?" Erin widened her eyes, "You gotta teach me your special skills."
Piper shook her head. "No, no, I don't know what you're thinking. But sometimes I can just tell stuff. Like with the boys. Liam goes like this when he's hungry." She wrinkled her features in exaggeration. "But Ryan does this." Piper forced her lips into a frown. "And you go like this." She sucked her cheeks in and put her hands on her hips.
"I do that when I'm hungry?" Erin put the perfume that Piper shook her head to on the vanity. "Really?"
"Daddy taught me that," Piper said simply, nodding her head when Erin extended another perfume. "That one smells good. I think it's Daddy's favorite too." She smiled when Erin spritzed it onto her neck and wrists.
"You are the smartest kid I've ever met," Erin determined as she rubbed her wrists together, "Are you sure you're okay with Daddy and I going out tonight? I know it's different with Kim and Adam-"
"It's okay," Piper promised, "You're gonna come back before I gotta go to bed, right?"
"That's right," Erin confirmed, smoothing some of Piper's hair back. Their plan was an early dinner so that they would be back in time to tuck Piper into bed. Even though their little girl had been faring better, neither of them wanted to push it. "Daddy and I won't be late at all. I think he picked out some movie options for you guys too."
"Is the only reason I'm driving so that you can watch the baby monitor?" Jay asked playfully as he took a right turn. He smirked when Erin didn't deny it. "Babe. They're fine."
"I trust Kim," she said, resting her head against the car seat, "I do. It's good for Piper to be with different adults and stuff but-"
"I get it," he promised, reaching over the console to hold her hand, "I know, babe." Jay squeezed her hand gently. The boys were easy, thankfully. After a bottle they were both fast asleep in their nursery, which meant that Adam and Kim only had to entertain Piper and keep an eye on the baby monitor. And he knew that Erin was worried about Piper.
They hadn't had an official date night since before the boys were born, and even then their baby sitter was often Will joined by Hailey – who instead of babysitting were now on a date of their own.
With Hank at a meeting and his brother otherwise occupied, Jay was down to a short list of people that he would actually trust with his children…one of whom was Kim Burgess. She enthusiastically agreed – and then Ruzek overheard and promptly invited himself to babysit as well.
Jay could tell Piper was nervous too. After changing the boys and getting them ready for bed, Piper had come downstairs to help so that he could get ready. The gleam in her eye almost had him cancelling the date, but his little bug promised she would be okay.
"She's been good," Erin murmured, "I mean, she's always good. But you know what I mean. She's been sleeping, eating…but she's still not all the way there. And us going away-"
"Two hours," Jay interrupted, "Just dinner. We'll be back before bedtime, like we promised. And I think time will fly by for her. Kim got the rundown and Ruzek's pretty good with kids. She's warmed up to him, and he used to be her least favorite in the unit."
"Probably because her experience with bearded white guys is terrible," Erin deadpanned, "Every time I start thinking that she's doing good I realize that I forget just how much she's still got under the surface."
"We're getting her there," he said as confidently as he could, "Healing isn't linear, right?"
"I think the desk looks good there. What do you think, Piper?" Kim pointed to the desk in the spare bedroom of her friend and coworker's house. When Jay asked if she would mind watching Piper and the boys for a few hours on Friday night, she immediately said yes. His request also came with a project – he and Piper had been planning to update one of the rooms in their house to function as an office for Erin as an early birthday surprise.
With Adam Ruzek in tow to help with the heavy lifting and because he overheard and promptly invited himself, Kim got to work organizing the room while Piper picked up the task of moving items from some of the old cardboard boxes into plastic storage containers that would live in the closet. The project was a perfect distraction for the little girl who was missing her parents but doing her best to be brave.
"I like it," Piper determined, "And we can fit the baby monitor right there so Mommy can see the boys even when she's working."
"Does she have a monitor for your dad too?" Ruzek joked, "Maybe one that goes on his ankle?"
Kim shot Adam a look while Piper looked confused. "No," she said thoughtfully, "Does Kim have one for you?" She offered a cheeky smile when he turned red.
"That's different. We," he said, gesturing to himself and his ex-fiancé, "Are not together."
"You're here together," Piper told him, shrugging her shoulders, "Daddy said you invited yourself when he asked Kim to baby sit." Her smile widened. "You know, the last time I had two babysitters they started dating too."
"That's not us," Kim managed after finding her voice, "We uh, we were together. Before. But not…not anymore."
"That happened to my mommy and daddy too," she replied, carefully placing a folder full of papers into the plastic container for safe keeping, "But then she started coming over to Daddy's apartment to spend time with us. And then they got together again." Piper shrugged again. "Maybe you just need a kid."
"You don't like the chicken?" Jay asked, looking up from his plate of fish to Erin's half-eaten chicken, "You want to switch? The fish is good."
She shook her head. "It's good," she said, setting her fork down, "I'm just…I'm just thinking. I go back to work on Monday. There's still so much we need to talk about."
"I'll follow you to daycare on Monday for the boys' first day," he said, reiterating the plan they had discussed at length, "I'll have Pipes with me so I can bring her to school and so she can see that the boys will be safe all day until you pick her up and before bringing them all home. And I'll meet you there as soon as I'm out."
Erin continued to nod as Jay recounted the plan that she was intricately familiar with. "I know. I know that but there's other stuff we need to talk about."
"Formula bottles are pre-measured and in those little lunch boxes with their names on them," Jay confirmed, "We've got extra diapers, two changes of clothes, their schedule-"
"I mean we should talk about our wedding," Erin interrupted, lacing her hands together atop the table, "We…we've talked about our kids and I know we're as ready as we're going to be for the boys to go to daycare and me to go back to work but I want to talk about us and getting married and the future of our family because once I go back to work-"
"It's work, babe," Jay said gently, reaching for one of her hands, "We're still together. We share a bed. This isn't going anywhere."
Erin nodded slowly. "I know but I was so busy before," she managed, "Sometimes it felt like I barely saw you and Noodle. Even if I'm working from home I'm worried that we're not going to get time to talk about the stuff we need to talk about. And I want to marry you."
Jay chuckled lightly and toyed with the engagement ring on her finger. "I hear you. I can't wait to make you Mrs. Halstead."
"Maybe we should just get married right now," Erin mused, tracing her fingertips over Jay's forearm, "Stop by the courthouse on the way home. Get hitched. Home in time to see our kids before bedtime." She offered a coy smile. "Wouldn't be off brand for us."
He chuckled again. "I mean there was a proposal in our kitchen," he said thoughtfully, "And I'd like to wife you up as soon as I can. But-"
"But we want all our kids to be there," she supplied with an exhale, "I know. I want that too. And I want to make it memorable." Erin swallowed. "Bunny, she…she had like four weddings. The last one, Johnny…that one was at least an actual wedding. I don't even remember the others. I think I blocked them out." She looked up to meet Jay's gaze. "I just have this memory of her in this hideous white dress, super pregnant with Teddy, yelling at me for some reason."
Jay squeezed her hand. "You're not your mom, babe," he reminded her, "You're the farthest thing from Bunny."
Erin nodded. "I want Piper to know that this is permanent." She gave a small smile. "I mean, we know it is. This…this isn't going anywhere. But when I was a kid seeing Bunny go from guy to guy…it's just important, that's all."
"Very important," Jay echoed, running his thumb over her fingers, "We don't have to rush into anything."
"I still want to get married soon," Erin told him, "Just because I don't want to get married in a courthouse doesn't mean I don't want to be your wife sooner rather than later." Her smile widened. "C'mon Halstead. Don't you wanna make an honest woman outta me?"
"What about some time next year?" Jay asked, "Next summer. The boys will be walking by then. We can get them little suits."
"That would be the cutest thing ever," she gushed, bringing one hand to her heart, "You know how much I love to see my guys in suits." Erin squeezed his hand. "And I want Noodle next to us."
"Absolutely. I mean, I know I told Mouse that he was my best man but-"
"Oh you don't get her for best man," Erin teased, "She's my maid of honor. She's your best friend but she's my sister."
Jay gave an exaggerated huff, earning an eye roll from his fiancé. "Then I get to pick the floral arrangements."
"You were always going to pick the floral arrangements," she replied, "I get to pick the music though."
"Deal." Jay held his hand out to shake. "You drive a hard bargain, Lindsay."
Erin shook. "As long as you promise we're still gonna have time for you and me in between wedding planning and two babies and one middle schooler and jobs and-"
"Trust me." Jay leaned forward to kiss her lips, "We've got this."
"Are they upstairs?" Erin hissed as she kicked her shoes off, glancing around the empty kitchen and living room after arriving home, "You think Noodle's in bed already?"
"I promised a story tonight," Jay said, taking his shoes and Erin's to place in their proper spot, "I swear if Ruzek took over for me he's never babysitting again."
"Easy, daddy," she joked, putting a hand on Jay's arm, "Our kid is the most loyal little bug there is. I don't think anyone's going to replace your bedtime stories."
"Will told me he was going to," he replied, gently taking Erin's coat off her shoulders, "I told him that if he tried anything that I'd send Hailey a full list of every woman he's ever been with."
"Babe." Erin rolled her eyes. "We decided to not meddle in your brother's relationship, right?"
"You decided for us," Jay said, "He already knows he's dead if he hurts Hailey. And it wouldn't even come from me. I'm pretty sure Pipes would lead the charge and you'd back her up."
Erin chuckled. "Your girls stick together," she teased, "But they're fine, babe. Doing well, even. I don't even think a list of women is going to scare Hailey off." She glanced to the top of the steps and smiled. "There's our girl."
A wide smile spread across Piper's cheeks as she hurried down the steps to her parents. Jay held out his arms and lifted Piper to hold her closely. A full body hug from his kid was the greatest thing on the planet. "Did you have fun?" he asked, pressing a kiss to her cheek, "Ruzek behaved himself?"
Piper nodded. "The boys are sleeping," she said in a stage whisper, "So we gotta be quiet when we go upstairs."
Jay kissed her cheek again before setting Piper down so she could hug Erin. "What did you guys get up to?" Erin asked, lightly stroking her baby's soft hair, "Did Kim and Adam fall asleep or something?"
She shook her head. "We did a surprise," Piper said shyly, carefully grasping Erin's hand to lead her up the steps, "You wanna see?"
"A surprise?" Erin glanced over to Jay curiously. Her partner was wearing a trademark Halstead smirk. "What kind of surprise?"
Piper led her mommy up the stairs and down the hallway to the office where Adam was standing. "We did some organizing. 'cause Daddy said you needed an office that was fit for a boss."
Erin's eyes widened when she realized that Piper was leading her into the spare room across from the boys' nursery. It used to house a computer monitor and spare coffee table, along with a stack of boxes from her apartment in New York and anything else that didn't fit in the rest of their house. She and Jay had casually talked about actually turning it into an office when they first moved in, but that plan had been placed on the backburner when they found out about the boys.
"Jay handed over his credit card," Adam said with a wink, "He just left the creative direction to Kim and Piper." He puffed his chest out. "And me for the heavy lifting."
Erin's jaw dropped when she peered into the office. The piles of cardboard boxes that lined the wall were gone, replaced by a simple desk set up and a brand new desk chair. There was a comfortable armchair in the corner and pictures hung on the wall of their family. The room was functional and cozy – perfect for Erin to work from home when she needed.
"Wow," she managed, taking in the new set up, "What…how did you get this all done so quickly?"
"This one is a machine with the label maker," Kim said fondly, gesturing to Piper, "She understood the vision pretty quickly." She rapped her knuckles on the desk beside the door that was smaller but featured file-cabinet style storage. "Jay said it was just an office for you, but we all thought he needed a desk in here too."
It was Jay's turn to look surprised. "I thought-"
"I love it," Erin gushed, glossing her fingers over her new desk, "Noodle can use your desk for homework, babe." She brushed Piper's hair off her shoulders with her fingers. "This is an amazing surprise. Thank you, sweet girl."
Piper nodded excitedly. "And we hid all the cords so the boys can come in here too," she said, "And we did all the organizing so it's very safe. Daddy sent all the containers to Kim's house so you wouldn't get suspicious."
"You guys are so sneaky," she praised, leaning up to kiss Jay's lips, "Thank you, babe." She smiled at Kim who was arranging the pillows on the arm chair. "So Kim and Adam were good babysitters, Noodle?"
"Me and Kim always have fun," Piper told her, "And Adam behaved himself."
I'm still working through the next chapter but I liked taking a lil break from some of the drama and heaviness - anything cute you want to see?!
