Arthur's note: I had an idea to do a Kiara and Vitani centered story. I'm trying to get back into my Lion King mood but it's been difficult. When you grow older, you love different things, but I still adore my childhood.

Instead of a romeo and juliet plot, it would have been a conflict of cousins. I have been warming up to the Vitani and Kiara being cousins. I use not to because Kopa x Vitani, but my thoughts on that pair has since changed.

So here comes; what if Scar choose Vitani as the Chosen One instead of Kovu?

Scar would have to admit that Vitani is strong for her age. He mated with Zira in the hope to have a perfect son but that has been failure. His first son is nothing but a waste, garbage just like Mufasa was, but his daughter is strong. She has already shown signs of being a suitable ruler, and while Scar originally rejected her, he came to warm up at the prospect of her being Queen.

She would be perfect to usurp his role as ruler of the Pride Lands, he wants a kin of his own to rule over his throne. He can find her a mate which would ensure that he would have descendants in the near future.

Aside from Nuka, Vitani is the only one of his bloodline. And as of late, she has shown to be far more worthy and competent.

While Zira is determined to find a perfect mate in order to create a perfect cub to Scar's liking, he would inform her that Vitani would be a choice now that his mind changed. Vitani has to be after all trained into a perfect killer...

"Vitani, come here, my daughter," Scar calls over to his daughter.

Without even hesitating, Vitani moves over from the place where she has been chewing on a nearby bone. She would listen to whatever command is given to her, and the blue eyes show nothing but absolute obedience and respect for the lion she'd been taught to feared. He can see her ruling over all the lionesses in the near future while bearing perfect cubs that are satisfying to his design.

"Father?" Vitani asks, her tiny ears folded against her forehead. Whenever Scar would call to her, there is always some sort of a command that comes along with it.

"You know that originally I rejected you as my future ruler because I believed at the time that you were unworthy," Scar replies. Vitani didn't give any emotion aside from a nod, as the lion king continues. "It was because you were a female, but now I see I have made an error in my ways. You would be allowed to become Queen of the Pride Lands and carry on my ways."

Vitani's eyes shines in awe. She has been told countless times that she is worthless to be Queen by both of her parents and even her older brother. She came to expect that she would lead the hunting party in the future when the time comes.

"I would not disappoint you, father," Vitani responds, at last permitting a small smile. "You would see; I would prove to you that you have made the right choice in choosing me as your heir."

"I know you would not disappoint me, daughter," Scar responds, smiling only slightly. He still would have preferred a son, but he would have to accustom to the current predicament he is in. "Do inform your mother to come to me. She must know of my change of mind."

"Yes, father," Vitani responds before racing off without hesitation, to summon her mother.

The moment his daughter return with Zira following behind, the lion king begins to speak. "I have decided to follow through with having Vitani as the Chosen One. You are to train her until she's older, and afterwards I would take over in that and ensure she is in the correct position to be Queen of the Pride Lands."

Zira seems shocked before at last allowing a grin. As always she is his greatest supporter. She has been since he saved her all those years ago when she was a cub. Now she would have little choice but to follow him.

"Yes, Scar," her ears fold against her head, "but I have something to tell you... I'm pregnant again. What if the cub is a male?"

Scar roll his eyes. "You had numerous miscarriages and we were gladden that you had a healthy daughter such as Vitani," he responds without concern, not wishing to take that chance with having another child. "It is of no concern anymore; Vitani is my heir and would be the future of my bloodline. Do not question my commands."

"Of course not, my King!" Zira replies, having seen that glint in his eyes multiple times before and not wishing to anger him further. She turns to stare down at her daughter and picks her up by the stomach, taking her elsewhere.

"Father... what about me?" Nuka asks, approaching his father and staring up at him hopefully, having been watching. "Would I ever be allowed to become a ruler of sorts? I want to just... lead the hunting party. Please."

"No," Scar snaps, glaring at the waste of genes, an unfortunate mistake that reminds him all too much of bitter times. "You would never be King, fool cub! You hardly even know how to keep yourself under control! You are pathetic and would never amount to anything! Now do not ask me such a question again!"

Nuka backs away before dashing out of the cave, not wishing to get on his father's angry side. He did many times before and he received quite the beatings for all of them.

Scar sighs after that moment before laying down, hoping for some sleep. The stress of the day's events has been telling. He would never regret killing Mufasa. Being King of the Pride Lands does have a fair number of advantages and disadvantages.

The lionesses as of late has been difficult to keep under control. Most had began to speak out against him, and some of those has taken the initiative to leave every passing day. That had forced Scar to order for hyenas to remain at the borders, but even so lionesses still managed to sneak out. He would have to increase patrols there first thing in the morning.

Night
And the spirit of life
Calling (Oh, oh, iyo)
Mamela. (Oh, oh, iyo)

Ubukhosi bo khokho
We ndodana ye sizwe sonke.

It is a time of great celebration in the Pride Lands. As the sun ascends up in the African sky, marking a new day out on the savannah grasslands, animals of all different species from all around began gathering over at Pride Rock. All the way from the tiniest ant to the most bravest predators in the land.

Wait.
There's no mountain too great.
Hear these words and have faith. (Oh, oh, iyo)
Oh, (Oh, oh, iyo)
Have faith.

As they did so, there is a gentle breeze that blows along towards Pride Rock, having tiny scraps of leaves and other tiny debris floating with it. As it did, three figures emerges on the long ledge that stabs out towards the horizon.

One of them is the royal mjuzi name Rafiki, a wise old mandrill, holding his bakora staff in one of his hands. Sometimes, it would seem like he has lost his insanity. But he is not to be taken for a fool, for he knows very much about the Circle of Life, what can and/or must be done to protect it and to make sure that the Circle stays in balance.

It is also a known fact that Rafiki has been a contribution to bring the rightful king back to the Pride Lands. Without him, Scar would have still ruled Pride Rock to this very day and the lands would have been nothing hit a barron wasteland. What little knows about him is his capacity to speak to past lions.

He lives in you.
He lives in me.
He watches over
Everything we see.

Into the water,
Into the truth,
In your reflection.
He lives in you.

The other two figures on the peak were the King and Queen of the Pride Lands, the Lion King Simba and his mate, Nala, in all of their glory. The Queen cautiously carries their child by the tuff.

Beside the royal family is the royal majordomo, a hornbill named Zazu, who had flown in from above to see the new royal cubs. To think, Simba can't help but wonder. This once had been.

The new princess has a pale peach pelt, matching the tiny tuft of fur on her thin tail, looking a lot like her mother, but she has a bit of a golden hue to her fur which she was rewarded from her father. She also had her father's deep amber eyes and a tiny dark pinkish nose.

Rafiki place his staff down on the ground, proudly hugged the new parents, and then gently take the cub from them in his hands. Zazu bows respectfully to the newborn cub, as Rafiki lifts the daughter and future Queen of the Pride Lands high up in the air for all of the inhabitants to see them.

All the animals that has gathered around cries and leaps for joy at the sight of their new princess as they are placed under a bright beam of sunlight. From high in the heavens, even Mufasa himself looks down with pride at the cub, who is smiling with wonder at the many creatures below her.

He lives in you.

Everyone that is on Pride Rock could feel the spiritual presence surround them, even Simba and Nala, but the cub gaze around in confusion at what is going on as that reverent breeze gently blew around them. The princess attempts to catch it with a paw, but she soon stops when she feels like there is someone watching her.

He lives in you.
He lives in me.
He watches over
Everything we see.

Into the water,
Into the truth,
In your reflection.
He lives in you.

Once the cheering is dead and the animals kneels down to pay their respects to the new royal family, Rafiki cautiously lower the cub down and places the royal marking on the cub's forehead while both parents look down with smiles. But they aren't the only ones who are watching the adorable scene.

Simba's old friends, the meerkat Timon and the warthog Pumbaa, the former on the latter's back, feels so excited and proud to see the touching scene as Simba and Nala each gently nuzzles their daughter affectionately. The cub purrs happily at her parents' affection and return the nuzzles.

"Ah, Pumbaa, look at the guy." Timon coos at how cute the little ones were, believing that their daughter is a male. "Chips off the old block. And you know who's gonna raise him?" He queries, looking down at his friend.

"Uh, his parents?" Pumbaa presumes.

"Okay, yeah, sure, technically." Timon concedes with a mutter. "But who's gonna teach him the really important stuff? Like how to belch?" He makes his point clear by letting loose one of his own. "And how to dig for grubs?"

Timon then jumps off of Pumbaa's back and onto the rocky ground. "I'm telling you, Pumbaa. It's gonna be like old times. You, me, and the little guy." He gestured up to the cub, who is looking down at the meerkat with cubhood confusion.

Rafiki chuckles at the meerkat's enthusiasm before gazing back to the cub, breaking their world with the words that come next. "It is a girl."

"A girl." Timon corrects, before coming to the immediate realization along with Pumbaa a second later.

"GIRL?!" Both of them shouts, before they both faint onto their backs with a "Oy."

Simba and Nala both laugh at their reactions while their daughter just looked at what has happened with newborn confusion.
