"And when the boy opened his eyes, he hadn't the faintest clue where he was. Maybe he was thrown into a new dimension, maybe he was spun around in time, perhaps he was just in his backyard watching the tree branches sway from side to side. But one thing that rattled his empty head was just that: emptiness. He could not recall where he came from, where he was going. Where was his house? What is even his name?
The little boy shot up looking frantically around, a scared little animal, an instinctual fear crawling around his stomach, gnawing it's way up his chest and erupting through his mouth as the most visceral scream anyone had ever heard such a small child make."
Lorraine bent the piece of paper towards, peaking at Eddie in front of her. With his guitar propped up against him, the pic motionless between his fingers, Lorraine wasn't sure if it was terrible or amazing.
"Well?" She raised her brows, waving the paper in front of him.
Eddie slowly shook his head, a wide smile growing on his face. His lips moved slightly, like his words were on the tip of his tongue. She motioned her head for a more readily response, widening her eyes.
"If those asshats in the city don't buy it, I will." He laughed, shaking his head furiously. Lorraine has sent many copies of the first few chapters and outlines of the story she had been working on for months. It was already a few weeks since she sent the first few to some publishers, but she hadn't heard back. She was scared that it was going to be another failure, another rejection.
"You're gonna be like Stephen King, and I can play the music for your soundtrack." He said, pulling the guitar closer to him and playing a few riffs and a freestyle mini-solo.
Lorraine laughed and tossed the pillow at him. She gathered the pieces of paper that were sprawled across the bed, placing them neatly in a brown folder. "You idiot." She smirked, pushing the hair back from her face, behind her ear.
"I wonder what song would go well with it," Eddie looked up in thought, placing his tongue on his lip. His eyes widened, as he began to play a riff of 'Crazy Train', screaming the chorus as he played the solo quickly.
She couldn't stop laughing, admiring Eddie's head banging as he continued for only a few moments, stopping suddenly. "Nah, too on the nose." He said, grinning, pulling his middle finger to his nose and tapping it.
"What song do you think best describes the story then?" Lorraine smirked, seeing if the guitarist could actually impress her.
He squinted and crunched his face, shaking his head backwards to push away the hair from his face. Eddie's eyes twinkled for a moment, beginning to play slowly. Lorraine looked on, watching his face transform into something more serious. She tilted her head, raising a brow and licking her lip in thought. He pressed his tongue harder against his lips, closing his eyes and opening his mouth slightly as a raspy whisper came out.
"Life, it seems, will fade away… Drifting further everyday…"
Lorraine was now the one in shock, one thing was to hear Eddie practice with his band, mostly fast paced songs, thrashing chords and mostly screaming vocals. He continued to sing, with his eyes still closed, like she wasn't there anymore.
"Need the end to set me free…" His voice almost growled, raising his voice just slightly as his lips curled, his head now banging like he could hear the drums accompany him, strumming much harder now, forcefully flicking his pic against the chords. Lorraine was absolutely mesmerized as Eddie continued to play through the song, almost gaining confidence as he thrashed his head back and forth, singing along to the lyrics, tapping his foot almost angrily.
He began to play at a slightly faster pace, "No one but me can save myself," He almost roared, continuing to raise voice through what Lorraine could only imagine was the chorus of the song, maybe. He slowly stopped singing, only to begin playing the solo of the song.
Her eyes went from his face, still eyes closed, his teeth gripping at his lips. She looked down at his hand, the rings shining from the lamp of the bedside table. His other hand moved quickly up and down through the fret, completely losing her mind over how well he was playing the song she had never heard before.
Eddie played a few notes, letting them ring out, the amp just beside the bed buzzing lowly as the notes were carried away. He opened his eyes, raising his brows, as if he was surprised that she was still there.
She was smiling, almost with tears in her eyes. "Eddie, that was…" She looked him in the eye, the smile plastered on her face growing in size. "It was absolutely amazing."
He almost blushed, feeling embarrassed that he got carried away. He placed the guitar gently on the bed as he kneeled over to take Lorraine's face in one hand, placing a small kiss on her nose.
"I mean, all credit goes to Metallica," He chuckled, but Lorraine didn't respond. Sitting on the bed listening to Eddie sing that way, made her feel something deep inside that she had only felt a few times before. She grabbed his neck and pulled him into a kiss, throwing them both against the bed.

She panted, pushing her hair back as she looked at him. She smirked, falling on top of him and laying against his bare chest. Eddie tried to control his breathing, wiping the sweat from his forehead before placing his hands on her shoulder, caressing her moist skin.
"I should play Metallica more often," he smirked in a whisper, kissing her head.
Lorraine smacked his chest, making Eddie exaggerate his face into that of pain, only to laugh with her, wrapping his arms around her and caressing her skin.

"So Eddie told us that before Spring Break we're gonna finish the campaign for the Cult of Vecna," Dusting boasted, trailing behind Lorraine through the trailer park. She smiled and listened intently, loving how passionate he was about the game.
"I really hope Lucas can come, he's on the basketball team and honestly," He scoffed, grabbing the brim of his cap for a second, "I don't know how he can deal with those assholes."
Lorraine laughed and grabbed his head, shaking it slightly before letting go. "Let him be, he's figuring things out."
"I just wish he would hang out with us more…" Dustin said, sadly, kicking the dirt beneath his feet.
She pursed her lips, feeling bad for the kid. They had started hanging out more because of how often he would come and try to find Eddie. The kid was obsessed with him, but in a good way. He'd always try to impress him and try to make him laugh, it kind of reminded Lorrain of Eddie when he was Dustin's age. She reached over to grab his shoulder and shake him a bit, smiling down to him.
"Buuuut," She sang, "You're going to win the campaign, Beat Vecna's ass!"
Dustin chuckled and gave her a large smile, as they got closer to Lorraine's house. She saw the mailman walking away from her door, and instantly her heart started to race. Kicking her feet off the ground, she sprinted to the door, almost leaping across the four steps that led her there. Her hand reached into the rusty old metal mailbox that hung against her house, taking out a handful of envelopes. Frantically scanning the names, she passed through them like wildfire. Bills. Bills. Credit Card. Bills. Bills. Bil-
And there it was. The most important envelope of all. It looked nicer than the others, a vibrant white with a glossy plastic just covering her name and address. She looked up at Dustin, her heart pumping in her ears. He held out his arms with a wide smile on his face, leaning backwards ready for her to tell her exactly what the letter said.
Eddie was in the middle of practice when he heard a car screeching on the road, as he looked over, only curious as to who was driving like a mad man. He abruptly stopped singing when he saw Lorraine's car almost drive onto the front yard of Jeff's house, parking diagonally in the driveway.
"What the hell Eddie," Gareth remarked, angrily. They all stopped playing, a low hum until the silence engulfed him.
He was too worried, he wasn't sure why she would drive that insanely, only to come here. Eddie could see Dustin in the front seat, his heart beating faster. Was everything okay? Is Uncle Wayne okay? Is Dustin okay? Lucas? Mike? He quickly took off the guitar that hung from his shoulders, placing it on the floor as he started to semi jog out of the garage.
Lorraine swung the car door open, stepping on the car floor to lift herself up and lean on the door. Eddie saw her start to wave a piece of paper in her hands, as she smiled and smacked the roof of the car. It looked like she would burst into tears at any moment.
Eddie stopped, dead in his tracks, looking at the paper and her face. His heart now beat faster, but not out of fear, as he slowly realized what had happened. Eddie started to leap, screaming, Lorraine although far from him began to scream as well. Without closing the door she sprinted towards him.
He opened his arms, crouching slightly as he continued to roar in excitement. As soon as Lorraine was close enough, she leapt into his arms; Eddie grabbing her tightly and swinging her around in circles as she laughed between her screams.
Stopping the spin, both panting, he slowly let her feet touch the ground once more but he didn't dare let her go. He looked down at her, her face the happiest he had ever seen her.
"Five chapters." She breathed heavily, sticking up the piece of paper in her hands. He couldn't take his eyes away from her, and continued to smile.
"They want five chapters, they want to meet me in the city, they want to read the book!" Her voice crescendoed. Eddie immediately tilted his head towards her and pressed his lips against hers, passionately.
Lorraine could feel the adrenaline in her body go into overdrive as she kissed him. She broke away from the kiss, only to give another small scream of excitement. "I did it, Eddie."
Looking at Eddie, Lorraine could almost see what possible future she could have in those dark, chocolate puppy eyes. In her mind she could see Eddie playing concerts in big venues in the city; a small writing nook in an apartment, littered with guitars, music sheets and untold stories; driving down long desert roads, Eddie's feet perked up on dashboard as they sang to all their favorite songs as loud as they wanted; sitting on the ocean and resting her head on Eddie's head as they watched the sunset, squeezing their hands in eachothers, whispering love you's.
"You did it, Lor." He smiled, cupping her face, his eyes almost glazed with happiness.
She bit the inside of her lip, giving another small jump of glee as she thought of what she imagined the future to be like. Her stomach lifted with butterflies, but something gnawed at the back of her head.
They say Hawkins cursed, and even though it's ridiculous, what if what they say is really true?
