The Cliques in Jaune's class consists of three main groups, the biggest one is led by one Cardin Winchester.

The other two group consists of the 4 faunus kids and a group of girls who all banded together. Cardin's group consists of most of the guys, only Jaune and 2 others are not in his group.

I'm Cardin Winchester, 15. This is it. My way into becoming a huntsman, it's easy to gather people especially when you're the biggest and strongest in the group.

As far as I'm concerned only 2 students in the class can be compared to me. That Lark kid and Arc, no matter hehehe I can get them to join my group soon enough.

I'll need strong group members at Beacon after all.

Cardin watched as some of the kids he sent to mess with both Lark and Arc were demolished.

'Yup, future team mates'

In their first month of school the pecking order has been established. Cardin's theory on the other two being at his level is only half - right. Because Lark is near his level but slightly below him while Arc is some sort of Generational talent.

So at the top is Jaune Arc. A man who only speaks when spoken to, someone that Cardin managed to become acquaintances with but not truly friends.

Below him were Cardin and Lark. Sky Lark. The three of them are the best in their year.

Which is why at the end of their first year at the academy, they were part of an exhibition. Yes, an exhibition against the other preparatory schools, namely Signal Academy from the island of patch and Pharos Academy for Vale proper.

"Yoh Jaune, Sky! Are you two ready?"

The large boy put an arm over both of their shoulders. Jaune simply nodded while Sky seemed pumped.

Cardin has learned to let the blond do his thing, but being the friendly giant made it easier to banter with the guy so Cardin just went with it.

"Let's do this boys! Let's show those city kids that we can really rock!"

Cardin cheered as the three other students groaned. 4 representatives for their year 8 if they counted the second years.

Needless to say, Yang of Signal academy. Number 1 in her school is eager. Eager to show her skills to the world.

An event known as the "Vale Summit". This was her ticket to making a name for herself. 'Maybe she'll notice me when I have my name plastered in the news.'

Yang wants to meet her biological mother. Gaining fame and showing her what she wants, someone who has "Power". This was Yang's goal.

If she had to beat the shit out of all the other contenders then sure. Why the hell not?

The student representatives from Pharos academy were double the number from both Signal and Arlon. Being the biggest school they had such a privilege.

16 participants, engaging in a small tournament. Yang watched as her upperclassmen fought toe-to-toe against a woman who wielded a gatling gun. Sadly her friend lost to

"The Winner for the 2nd year bouts, Miss Coco Adel!"

Cheers from the Pharos side of the bleachers echoed as she waited for the announcement. "For the first match amongst the first years, with a record of no losses in Arlon academy the pride of the academy. Jaune Arc!"

She looked at the spear-wielding blond turned her head. "Heh I can take him"

"Against the number 2 of Pharos' First years. Arthur Silva!"

She watched as the spearman and the Knight-like student of Pharos Academy eyed each other out. While Yang wouldn't say it out loud, her bouts against that Arthur Silva fellow during competition have been fairly equal. She has a record of 3 - 2 against the guy, she's currentky up but all of her fight against the top students from Pharos have been nail-bitingly close.

"Artie's gonna cream the poor guy."

"All right, I did research beforehand. These kids are talented boys, but we have to show them that we're not just some frontier kids! Here's the dirt on each of your opponents."

Sky Lark is a man who does his research, so why wouldn't he share information with his peers. They're here for themselves sure, but helping your colleagues win is a plus for your school. They were representatives after all.

"Our main advantage is that these kids don't know us. Most of us are unknowns except for Cardin and Dove. If you have to force out a win then use everything they'll have a hard time learning what our semblances are in the first place."

Jaune looked at his opponent up and down, his opponent carried a sword and a shield. Knight-like in terms of a lot of things. He couldn't help but wonder if that's how he would have turned out if Crocea Mors wasn't buried with his family.

They were opposites, his opponent wore armor and is less mobile. While he focuses on speed and not getting hit at all.

"Begin!"

Jaune held nothing back. He read his opponents like a book while forcing them to make eye contact.

Arthur locked eyes with the blond and felt a burning sensation on his left arm. As if his arm holding his shield was inside an oven. It only lasted for 2 or 3 seconds but it was more than enough time for Jaune to land a combination. A spear thrusted onto his stomach followed by 4 consecutive strikes with it. Forcing the boy back.

'What's going on?'

He decided to shrug it off and kept his shield up. He focused on his opponent's torso. He waited as the next thrust came before parrying and rushing forward.

Jaune jumped over the Knight before sending a kick to the back of his head.

The knight's Aura meter is at 60%, in the yellow.

He made eye contact once more and this time he realized his mistake.

'I shouldn't have looked at his eyes'

But it was too little, too late. The last combination of strikes forced Arthur to the ground as his Aura bar reached the red.

"Winner, Jaune Arc!"

A student from Pharos, convincingly taken down by a "Frontier Kid". A good show from the number 1 of Arlon academy. Jaune didn't even use the information that Lark gave him, he was just on another level.

The top 3 members of Arlon all got a win during the first round.

Yang soon took to the stage, at the Opposite side of the bracket. If she wanted a piece of that Jaune fellow then she'd have to reach the peak. It was obvious that he's a shoe-in for the finals.

Her first match was the only one that is just as one-sided as Jaune's. It became obvious very quickly that the two blondes would be the main candidates for the top 2.

At the bleachers after her match, she ran to Arthur's side of the bleachers. To ask him about her future opponent.

"Illusions, from what I can tell those eyes when I looked into his eyes the world changed and I felt pain. Be careful Yang, whatever you do don't make eye contact with him."

Even when this information spread out to all of the other participants, it didn't matter. Because none of them were used to such a thing, and even if they were the advantage would still be on Jaune's side.

He moved in a calculated manner, but this did not make him slow. If anything his pace is faster than most of the others so prying out the defenses of his opponents and picking them apart comes easy to the young spearman.

"Welcome to the Semi-finals everyone! From this corner the blonde menace, the gauntlet of Signal and a favorite in Vale's under 17 division! Miss Yang Xiao Long!"

Her opponent is a student from Arlon academy.

As Jaune entered the Bleachers Cardin gave him a pat on the back. "Yoh bro, I'll see you at the finals!"

Jaune smirked. "Show them what we've got Ginger boy"

"Hahahaha, Kinetic-energy type right, Lark?" Cardin asked.

"Yeah, she's bad news. Especially for a mace user like you"

Cardin nodded before entering the arena. 'She's fast and her power is comparable to my own, I need to keep her at arm's length or Mace's length in this case'

If it was the Cardin raised by the main Winchester household then he would have looked at a hard opponent and faced them with false bravado. But this Cardin is the product of an affair, someone who got thrown away. This Cardin fought for his place as a huntsman in training.

Meaning that even if he knows that he's on the losing end of a fight, he will still dial it up to 100 even if it is an inevitable loss.

At the semi-finals, the two strength-based combatants fought like dogs. A gruesome and ugly fight where the winner was obvious from the beginning.

Cardin soon found out that she was much slower than Jaune, having consistently sparred with a sharingan user made it easy to keep up with her. But a single punch from the girl took out chunks of his Aura.

And just like with Jaune, it's like this person is on another level. A level that Cardin couldn't reach. A level that seemed out of his grasp.

He knew about it, he just didn't want to admit it.

As a right hook hit him square on the jaw, Cardin realized that he simply wasn't as special as he thought he was.

"Winner, Yang Xiao Long!"

After an hour of replays and letting the contenders recuperate. The fight that everyone has been waiting for soon began.

From the get go, it was apparent. The sheer difference in style and skill. One thing was for sure though, she was the only one who could keep him on the back-foot. She can close the gap rather easily with her recoil powered jumps and dashes.

Jaune had to adapt, for the first time in that day the spear pierced the ground as he parried her shots with his short sword.

This is where the sharingan and his overall skillset showed the difference between them. Jaune is an expert copycat, integrating different fighting styles into his own after seeing them once.

He already knew that the spear wouldn't do much which is why he was ready to fight her in close range.

He dodged a right straight and parried a left hook, just as she's about to pull her attacks back he caught her with a kick to the face. He looked at her, she appears to be avoiding eye contact.

He jumped back and placed his short sword on his left hand. His right hand egged her on, motioning for her to attack.

Blows were traded but she never seemed to land a clear shot at him. He was just too fast. The fight raged on. Slowly but surely, Yang began to lose.

But the longer they fight, the stronger Yang becomes.

"Yoh red eyes, you're not the only one!" She stated as her eyes turned red and her hair began to glow.

Lark informed him of her semblance but seeing her literally transform is something else.

He kicked her back and jumped backwards. Taking a two dust vials out of his pockets. He slotted them in onto his short sword. The blade caught flame as the two figures looked at each other.

With a smile on her face Yang took a stance, Jaune did the same.

"Round 2" She said as the two of them clashed once more. Yang's punches were no longer blockable for the common student, but Jaune still saw her moves and managed to reflect a few of them off as he slashed at her torso. Taking out a chunk of her aura. Her fist landed on the ground causing a huge crater.

'One or two hits from that and I'm fucked' He thought as he sent a kick her way. Only for her to block it sending her a few meters back.

"Come on!" She said a manic grin encompassed her as the two titans of their schools clashed with one another. Their level of skill is far beyond those of their age.

But soon one of them would make a mistake. It's hard to break a habit, especially if it's only been a few hours since she got the information. She soon stared into his eyes and what came after is a blur. She felt like she was drowning for a few seconds.

In those few seconds a combination sent her flying out of the arena. She thought they were equals but as she looked at the aura gauges on the screen, she saw that he was still at 80 while she was not only in the red but was also sent out of bounds.

"Winner, Jaune Arc!"

The crowd roared in excitement, an unknown kid from a backwater combat school managed to win out against the country's elite. A rare sight.

"Oy Red-eyes!" Yang ran up to him.

"Yeah?"

"Yang Xiao Long, Give me your scroll for a sec" she took it right out of his hands as she saved her number.

"Save it, Call me if you're ever in Patch or in Vale! I'll see you when I see you!" She gave him a wink before leaving the area.

If there is one quirk that Yang got from her mother then it's her love for the strong. Most would often point to the looks but personality wise the women in their bloodline just loved strong men.

"Okay then... so do you guys want to play basketball after this?"

Cardin and Sky looked at him dumbfounded before laughing.

[Incomplete Emperor's Eye - To evolve it you must gain enough experience in the sport of basketball.]

Ever since they played basketball a few months ago, Jaune unlocked a new set of eyes. One that he can't really compare to the sharingan, but the fact that it needed no fuel was interesting.
