At a Bullhead headed for Beacon.
"Don't worry about it sis, speaking of friends. Get over here, let me introduce you to some of mine. This one's Jaune and the Ginger is Cardin!"
The two boys looked to her direction. Cardin simply gave her a fist bump, weirdly enough he wasn't as cheery as he always was.
Jaune remained silent but acknowledged their presence by nodding and responding when he was introduced.
"These are guys that I met at the Summit, guys this is Ruby. Say Hi Ruby!"
"Hi, I'm Ruby, uh...ahm... Ruby Rose! Yang's my big sister!"
"Cardin, the blond's Jaune. Vale's No. 1."
"Number 1? In what?" Ruby is not the type who keeps up with cureent events.
"He beat your sister at the finals 2 years in a row." Cardin chimed.
"Ohh you're Yang's boyfri-" just as she was about to finish Yang cupped her hands onto the little reaper's mouth.
"Anyways, why is there only two of you this time around? "
She coukd notice Cardin motioning for her to stop right there. But she ignored him.
"That Sky guy right? Isn't he a friend of yours?"
Cardin decided to answer since Jaune's demeanor seems to have gotten worse. "There was an incident a month before Graduation, let's just say that things didn't pan out so well"
The solemn look was all she needed before she apologized for the comment. "Ohh..." she saw Sky's halberd on Jaune's back. "Jaune..Cardin I'm so-"
"It's fine, right Jaune? You didn't know. It is what it is, this is what we all signed up for."
Becoming a huntsman is a tall task. One that often leads to such a fate.
After the bullhead landed. Yang dragged the other two with her, telling Ruby to meet her at the courtyard where the opening speech would be presented.
"Why are we leaving your little sister alone?" Cardin asked, Jaune nodded seemingly having the same sentiment.
"She needs to spread her wings you know? I can't coddle her forever who knows she'll probably have a friend or two by the time she gets back to us!"
"I guess that makes sense." Cardin replied.
"Aye yoh boys, get over here. This one's Yang!" Cardin called out introducing Yang to a whole slew of people. Former Students from Arlon Academy, they're like a family in that school.
Yang hit it off with most of them, a blonde social butterfly the polar opposite of her crush. She didn't even notice the fact that Jaune disappeared after the large group formed.
Ruby was not having a good time, she met a really mean girl. She somehow managed to explode and now... she's lost.
She was about to lose hope before she saw blonde hair over a few bushes.
Jaune having only his normal eyes active did not see it coming. Ruby hugged him from the back. "Yang.. Yang I got lost and there was a mean.."
She realized her mistake. "Ohh no! I'm so sorry!" Ruby's energy was unmatched. It took 5 minutes of her apologizing and moving back and fort before Jaune finally managed to calm her down.
"It's fine, don't worry. If you're lost then you can follow me to the courtyard. We met each other earlier, I'm Jaune Arc."
He extended a hand which she promptly shook.
"Ruby, Ruby Rose!"
Ruby then followed Jaune to the courtyard. Jaune is not much of a talker and while Ruby enjoyed the tranquil silence and her new friend's company she was still a curious person.
"So... I got this!" She took out her Scythe/Sniper Rifle hybrid.
"A Scythe?"
"It's also a customizable high impact sniper rifle!"
"So a gun"
"Yeah, it's also a gun!" Her smile was infectious. She reminded him of his younger siblings, eager to impress their older brother.
"Amazing." He said in a neutral tone, making sure to say it in a non-hostile way.
"Her name's Crescent Rose! How about you?" She asked in a cheery manner.
"I carry a basic spear that has no dust related properties, this Short Sword has a dust holster." He handed her the shortsword which she handled with care.
"Everything's basic aside from this"
He took out the Halberd, the top half of the halberd is hollow. Instead of a spear tip, it was the barrel of a gun. "Feather's Edge, a friend of mine used to use it. I can attach the spear tip on it if I want to but I left it in my luggage."
"Ohh, Cool! So you switch around with pole-arms and the sword? Isn't that hard? I know it's hard for me because I can only use the scythe-"
Jaune rode off on Ruby's energy as they met up with the group. "I'll see you around Jaune! Thanks for helping me out!"
Jaune nodded at her before going up to Cardin and their group from Arlon.
Ruby's day just made a turnaround. Well it was supposed to until she met her again.
"Oh my god you really exploded." Yang eeked out.
The next morning, Cardin was a bit busy with the rest of Arlon's former students. Making it another peaceful morning for Jaune Arc. That is until he felt traces of chakra from somewhere.
It's a rare sight. He has encountered those who have access to it before but he never really got the chance to interact with them so when he reached the table he immediately asked the green-themed fellow if he could sit with them.
"I don't mind, do you Nora?"
"Nope! The more the merrier!"
The trio enjoyed the rest of lunch together but not before Jaune dropped the bomb. "While I'm not too familiar with Chakra, I hope we can exchange notes later on." He said before leaving the table.
He flashed his sharingan at him, Jaune didn't know what the guy knew about chakra but it felt nice to have someone in his year that he could probably exchange notes about it with.
'Ren, that was the Sharingan.'
"The eye of your former rival, Master?"
'Indeed! Let the power of youth explode! He will make a great ally for you and Nora's Party'
A floating spirit that only Ren can see. In a green body suit, with bushy eyebrows. Part of Ren's semblance, is this powerful martial artist.
'Well then finish breakfast and head to the lockers. It's time for my pupil to show these people the power of YOUTH!'
As Jaune reached the lockers, he saw a pair blocking his way.
"Excuse me, you're kind of in the way."
The redhead moved to the side before apologizing immediately. "Ohh I'm sorry!"
"It's fine I just have to go get my stuff"
"Excuse me!" A bitchy tone, white hair and an entitled aura. The Schnee.
"You are excused."
"Ha ha, very funny. Do you know who she is?"
"Am I supposed to?" Jaune asked quizzically, he pulled out all of his weapons and began holstering them.
"The Pyrrha Nikos!" She put an emphasis on the 'The' part of that statement.
"Just putting 'The' before someone's name doesn't really help."
"Graduated top of her class at Sanctum! Champion FOUR YEARS IN A ROW!"
"Okay? But one thing though."
"Uhuh?"
"Who asked?"
Weiss was fuming at this point. Jaune learned how to banter from his friends back at Arlon, it's easy for him to clap back. The heiress seems unused to such interactions.
He finished up with slotting his weapons and gave Pyrrha a handshake. "Jaune Arc, it's a pleasure. I'll see you at initiation."
He didn't know her. He didn't care about any of the things that Weiss listed off and... and he's cute. 'If he's good at fighting then I'm smitten' she thought. "Yeah.. it was a pleasure Jaune"
Initiation would soon begin but noticeably two of the launchers "Malfunctioned".
Ozpin had a few choice words before said launchers sent them off.
"Feel free to use Chakra. I will see to it that a suitable teacher is present for you when you pass initiation."
And they were off. He saw Ren fly off to his right, Jaune took out his dagger to aid in his landing. He stabbed a tree with it, helping soften his fall.
As soon as he landed, he went into "combat mode". Which is pretty much just constant activation of his eyes, either the 3 comma form of the sharingan or the emperor's eye.
Now the two eyes are similar but the power of the sharingan is no joke. Though the steady usage of his sharingan drains a lot of chakra. Which has a few side effects when fully drained.
He could see the traces of aura from a bush so he decided to pull out his spear. "You're not being sneaky. Come out of the bush."
The red-head from earlier. Pyrrha Nikos. "Hello Again!" She stated grinning from ear to ear.
"Partners?"
"Partners!" She affirmed.
'Score!' Pyrrha thought. Her smile never seemed to leave her face.
Those who awaken a spirit or a kekkei genkai will gain the ability to wield a foreign energy known as chakra.
Ren's speed rivalled that of Ruby Rose.
How did he get here? Through sheer training and hard work.
From Stormflower's shots to his own management of Ki and Aura. The Taijitu did not stand a chance. Light work for one Lie Ren.
As he finished up he heard a weird noise from one of the trees. "I still don't think that's how sloths sound."
A ginger-haired hammer wielding girl placed her pointer finger on his nose before saying "Boop."
Ren had a feeling that he would soon have to take off his weights. He just hoped that nothing in the forest would force him to use the gates.
Nora has been Ren's companion for as long as he could remember. The only survivors of the Kuroyuri incident.
Jaune and Pyrrha arrived at the ruins slightly earlier than most of everyone else. There he met Yang and Blake. Yang was someone he was already acquainted with, Blake seems like someone he could hang out with since they both seem to be the type that's not too keen on crowds.
It was peaceful for a few seconds, until the inevitable arrival of one Nora Valkyrie.
"Is she riding on an Ursa?" Yang asked out loud.
"It appears so." Blake replied.
The hammer-wielder ran up to the ruins. Taking a rook. "I'm Queen of the Castle! I'm Queen of the Castle!"
A bubbly individual followed by a green - themed martial artist. Who seems extremely done with her shenanigans.
Two figures were falling from the sky, one caught by Yang and another caught by Blake.
A giant nevermore flew around them while a horde of Grimm arrived from the direction that Ren and Nora came from.
In situations like these a leader is needed, Jaune switched to his sharingan before barking out orders. "Pyrrha, Ren and Nora you're with me. We'll take on the horde, Yang, Ruby and Blake you guys can handle the Nevermore."
He didn't talk to Weiss because he doesn't remember her name. "Go!"
"Pyrrha, Nora guns out. We'll take care of the frontlines"
"Got it boss!" Nora seems to be a decent listener when it comes to actual combat.
"On it!" Pyrrha switched the form of her weapon to gun form.
"Ren, play around me. I'll be our main tank." The boy nodded.
Jaune jumped forward not bothering to use
"Susanoo"
[The system has blocked off the negative effects of these Eyes. The Mangekyou's Weaknesses have been bypassed. Eternal Mangekyou is now Active.]
[A swell of hatred towards the grimm encompasses you.]
A gigantic humanoid torso entered the battlefield. Entirely made out of chakra, a powerful figure carrying two weapons. On its left is a shield, the Yata Mirror and on its right is a giant sword.
When he said that he was the tank, he meant it. He massacred over a dozen Grimm which in turn caused them to swarm him. Giving his allies ample time to set up.
"So cool!" Nora was at awe, but she didn't let that distract her from bombarding the horde of Grimm with her grenades.
Pyrrha watched the situation as she switched her weapon to spear mode. "Impressive" she said before decapitating a nearby beowulf. "Nora keep on shooting I'll cleanup the strays nearby!"
Ren wouldn't have minded letting everyone do their thing, he would have been okay with just resting and wasting a set amount of ammo.
But his master is a loud mouth. "You're not gonna let him show you up right? You have express permission to activate the gates! Do you hear me Ren?"
He inwardly sighed before taking off his weights. He targeted the larger Grimm, namely a giant deathstalker.
With a kick he sent the Grimm flying into the air. "Like we practiced Ren!" Guy shouted out.
Bandages surrounded the deathstalker's body. Ren looked serious as he grabbed it by the tail.
"FRONT LOTUS: OMOTE RENGE"
He spun, driving the monster to the ground creating a large crater killing off a lot of the grimm on his way down. Due to his constant usage of it, the strain has lowered and his Aura helped out a lot in cushioning his own descent.
After finishing up the nevermore, the future team RWBY watched as their fellow students overshadowed their own feats. Blake and Weiss were at awe, Yang already knew about Jaune and Pyrrha so she wasnt as surprised. While Ruby knew that Jaune beat her sister so something like that wasn't surprising.
She didn't expect the man's whole group to be a group of monsters though.
Ruby looked at the fallen jaw of one Weiss Schnee before deciding to close it herself.
"What are you guys waiting for? Let's go help them!" Yang jumped out using her gauntlets to help in her movement.
Blake and Ruby soon followed.
Weiss was a frog in a well at Atlas. This one encounter taught her that the world was a large place. Her preconceived notions of the world mean nothing to people who have reached a much higher plane than her.
Initiation went about as well as one would expect, no one died due to immediate aid by the proctors. But several of the aspirants were injured badly and subsequently failed at the task.
Teams were formed, Team RWBY led by Ruby Rose and Team JNPR led by Jaune Arc. Cardin made a team out of 3 other students from Arlon.
Ozpin seemed more cheerful than usual, which made Glynda and the other professors at Beacon a bit on edge.
