Chapter 10: Rise of the Walking Dead
"So who's riding with who?" Crow asked as their little group approached their vehicles, "Because I know Akiza's little car can't carry everyone."
"Somebody's gonna have to buddy up with either Crow or Yusei on a Duel Runner," Yugi said, counting the seats in Akiza's car. "Kaiba's too tall, so he can ride shotgun. So that leaves Dani or me to ride in the backseat with the twins."
"We'll take Yugi with us!" Leo shouted excitedly, "I have so many questions for him and see if he'll show me some of his cards and-"
"Leo!" Luna admonished, "He's right there you know!"
"Yeah, so?"
"It's alright," Yugi said quickly, "I'm happy to answer questions, so long as I know the answer."
"So then that leaves me to ride with Yusei or Crow," Dani said hesitantly. She'd never rode on a Duel Runner before which made her nervous.
"Don't sweat it," Crow laughed, "The Blackbird's as smooth a ride as you'll ever get with me at the controls."
Yusei nodded approvingly. "Alright then, we'll head north once everyone's ready."
"Right," Yugi agreed.
"This is gonna be so cool!" Leo said as he climbed into the back seat of Akiza's car.
"I'm sorry if my brother is going to be a hassle," Luna apologized to Yugi as they got in the car much more calmly than Leo, who was already buckled and bouncing in his seat.
"It's quite alright," Yugi replied, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, "I'm not sure what I'd be doing in his situation myself, to be honest."
"How will we know if we've found what we're looking for?" Akiza asked Yusei, "Do we even know what we're looking for?"
"We're going to find the Master and put a stop to this madness," Yusei answered, putting a comforting arm on her shoulder. "Nothing can stop us if we all work together."
That put a smile on Akiza's face. "Yusei…" She began to lean forward when Kaiba honked the horn, leaning over from the passenger side seat.
"We haven't got all day!" he called. Akiza glared daggers at Kaiba as she withdrew from Yusei. She would drive in icy silence as well.
Crow looked through the small trunk of the Blackbird before finding what he was looking for. "Aha! I knew I had it in here!"
"What?" Dani asked.
"A spare helmet," Crow answered, showing her said item. "You know all those safety tips aren't there for show."
Dani grinned as she looked at the helmet. It matched the one Crow was currently wearing. "Does this come in silver?"
Chaos Movement Headquarters
The Master was prowling the now empty building of the Headquarters, mostly out of boredom. His minions were in place; Draco was leading the others into another trap. There was a part of him that was honestly worried. Yeah, the first few waves weren't supposed to succeed, but this Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon was one card among many that had him concerned. The Master pulled out a card from his Deck and looked at it, chuckling. This card would be the card to lead him to victory, but he wanted a few minions to boss around after he'd done what he wanted to this world. Now wasn't the time for him to swoop in though. His plans were still in phase 2, so-to-speak, and he had a couple of contingency plans in case Hueso failed to defeat the new girl. Either way, the Signers were not going to survive the day; the Master planned on that. He adjusted his twilight themed tie and continued his prowl around the building, giggling to himself like a maniac.
Northern Satellite
Allana Hikari was standing at the top of the hill where she had stopped after fleeing from Yugi and his friends, looking out over the vast expanse of water that separated Satellite from New Domino City. After informing the Master of what had happened, he had directed the Lady of Light to this location and was told to stay there until further notice. She knew of Draco and LJ's defeat to Kaiba and Atlas respectively through the network the Master had set up for them and she knew her resounding failure had been broadcasted to all the other Duelists the Master had chosen to help in his cause. It was why Allana wasn't surprised when a red and black dragon-themed Duel Runner parked itself next to hers. She didn't turn even though Thomas Aka climbed off and hugged her from behind.
"When I'd heard you'd lost, I feared the Master had some insane punishment in store for you," he said.
Allana held onto his hands, currently wrapped around her waist. "No, I've just been sent here until further notice from him. Aren't you supposed to be somewhere?"
Thomas laughed. "The Master may have immense power, but even he can't control my every movement. I'm not supposed to move in until his ninja strikes, so I've got time."
"But you're supposed to be keeping an eye on Kuno to move in when she does strike!" Allana said, looking at the red-eyed Duelist with a bit of fear in her eyes. "She's at central Satellite!"
"So? The Black Dragon is fast enough to be there in under an hour and Draco's luring them up in this direction anyways. I have plenty of time to come cheer the Lady of Light up."
"If you say so," Allana sighed. She turned and hugged Thomas tight. He simply held her as they shared that moment together.
"So," Thomas began, "how was it against Yugi? What was it like Dueling the King of Games?"
Allana giggled, though whether it was out of happiness or out of sadness Thomas couldn't make out. "Like nothing I've ever experienced."
"Tell me all about it."
"Well, when we began the Duel…"

Dani clung tight to Crow as their little convoy sped down the streets of Satellite in search of Draco. She hadn't been too keen on getting on the tricked-out motorcycle and was trying to get used to the new sensations. The Blackwing Duelist was grinning wide because his rapid acceleration had drawn a brief scream out of Dani, who obviously hadn't been expecting the burst of speed. Crow's grin had only intensified with the stream of curses Dani had let fly at Crow once she found her voice again. Now that Dani was pressing against his back as she held on tight, Crow was thoroughly enjoying himself.
"Having fun back there?" he asked mischievously.
"Piss off!" came the quick reply.
Crow laughed. "Keep an eye out for the guy in green; he's got to be around here somewhere.
"I'm trying, but your crazy driving is making it hard!" Dani argued, still trying to get used to communicating over a headset as well.
"Crazy driving? Dani, my friend, you haven't seen anything yet!" Crow said. Dani swore as Crow began weaving around the street, launching the Blackbird off a pile of rubble for the heck of it to emphasize his point.
"Enough messing around Crow," Yusei chided as he pulled up next to them, "We need to focus on finding that man!"
"Oh come on Yusei!" Crow complained, "I don't interrupt you when you get quality alone time with Akiza!
Yusei sighed, creating an audible rush of static across the comm. "How many times do I have to tell you-"
"Crow," Akiza interrupted, "I'd choose my next words very carefully if I were you."
"What? Can't a guy have some fun with a cute girl?"
"I'm right here you know!" Dani exclaimed.
"I know. I can feel your boobs pressing against me!"
"CROW!" Dani and Akiza shouted. Yusei had to do everything he could to stifle a snicker as Dani reached up and smacked Crow upside his helmet.
"I guess I deserved that."
"You're gonna get worse once we stop!" Dani threatened.
"I'll help," Akiza offered, a bit of a dangerous glow surrounding her bang restrainer.
"Stop the car," Kaiba commanded suddenly. There was a screech of brakes as everyone complied.
"What's up?" Yusei asked, taking off his helmet.
"Three buildings back, I saw him," Kaiba answered simply. "Now let's go!" the first Blue-Eyes Duelist strode off, leaving everyone behind.
"So why did Marik surrender if he still had one Life Point left?" Leo asked Yugi as everyone began piling out of their various vehicles, "Yusei won with just one Life Point left, I don't see why Marik would give up."
"Marik had no more reason to fight," Yugi answered, "He also had to fulfill the ancient prophecy that-"
"You sonuvabitch!" Dani yelled at Crow, climbing off the Blackbird, "you crazy, no-good, sonuvabitch!"
"Oh come on!" Crow said pleadingly, "That stop wasn't so bad. You should've been there when I jumped Greiger."
"This has nothing to do with the stop!" Dani seethed.
"Will saying I'm sorry help? Oof!" Dani threw the helmet Crow had lent her right into Crow's gut and she followed Kaiba. Yusei just shook his head, grinning as he and the others left Crow behind. "Come on guys, don't leave me hanging! Wait up!"

"Finally," Jack exclaimed as he exited the building he had been unceremoniously dumped into not too long ago. It had been a veritable maze trying to get out, but escape he did. Jack looked around and saw his Duel Runner, right where he had left it. The hologram of the crown was gone, no doubt because this trap area had been disarmed by Jack in an intense Duel. Jack grinned as he recalled the Duel, remembering the power his friends gave him. He knew it was going to take more moments like that to defeat the Master; there was no doubt about that. He sat down in his Runner and began attempting to contact Yusei. He growled as it went to voicemail once, twice, three times.
"Why won't he answer?" Jack wondered aloud. "Guess I'll have to track them down myself. They don't seem to be too far away, judging by the tracking signals Yusei installed in our Runners. Let's just see if these things really work." The white Duel Runner zoomed off into the distance with Jack Atlas intently riding along, fierce glare sending up a warning to anyone who might have happened to see it that he was not in the mood for games.
Central Satellite, just shy of B.A.D. Area
"Of course they'd be by the B.A.D. Area," Dani complained as Kaiba led them into the run down building, "So, Kaiba, where's the dragon guy?"
"I just saw him enter," the Kaibacorp president answered, "We were moving too fast to see where he might have gone."
"At least we here and not chasing shadows elsewhere," Yusei said encouragingly, placing a hand on Kaiba's shoulder, "Thanks to your keen eyes."
"Save the mushy stuff for afterwards," Kaiba said, shrugging the arm off, "I'm here for answers."
"Aren't we all?" Yugi asked sagely.
"So, do we split up and search for him or stick together in case of an ambush?" Crow asked.
"We'll cover more ground if we split up," Kaiba argued, "I know I can take Draco."
"Oh good, why not take Crow with you, that way both of you jerks can be together?" Dani suggested bitterly, sending a glare at the Blackwing Duelist.
"Are you still on about that?" he asked, "I was just messing around."
"Never joke about a woman's chest in front of that woman," Dani answered, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I don't get it," Leo said in the silence that followed. Luna groaned at that.
"You'll understand when you're older," Akiza said, "Why not come with me Dani? We'll have some girl time."
"Works for me," the female Blue-Eyes Duelist answered, heading toward one of the many doorways that lined the atrium they currently occupied. "Coming?"
"You sure about this?" Yusei asked.
"Sure I'm sure," Akiza said with a smile, "We'll call if anything happens." With that, the two women left.
"I'll never understand girls," Crow muttered.
"It's not their fault you were rude," Luna pointed out.
"Well, looks like I'm going with Kaiba then," Crow said, changing the subject quickly while rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.
"I'd rather work alone," came the blunt response.
"Ever hear of the buddy system?" Crow asked
"Yeah, me and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon."
"It's your funeral. I'll just be following the path you're taking as well."
"You're just as annoying as Wheeler."
"Who?" Their argument continued into the corridor they began walking down.
"Guess that leaves us four," Yugi said, counting everyone.
'Five,' Yami corrected from the Puzzle, drawing a smile from Yugi.
"Cool!" Leo exclaimed, "Because I have a few more questions about the first Battle City tournament!"
Luna just sighed. "Always a one-track mind."
Yusei put a hand on her shoulder. "It's not every day you get to meet a legendary Duelist like Yugi, let him enjoy the moment while he can. Yugi's being a great sport about it anyways, I'm sure he'd answer your questions just as patiently as Leo's."
"I just don't want the King of Games remembering us as adoring fans fawning over his every move," Luna answered.
"I doubt he'll remember just that," Yusei said soothingly, "You're worrying about things that don't need to be worried about. Now let's go find the answers we need."
"Right!" The group of four left the atrium down a different corridor, unsure of the horrors that lay before them.
"So Yugi," Leo began again, "What was it like facing Kaiba in the Battle City finals? I mean, you had your dragon and he had his Tormentor out on the field, it was all Crash! Boom! Roar! Like nothing I'd ever see and that was just a replay! Did you actually Duel in a Roman coliseum?"
Yugi smiled at the memory. "Not really. Kaiba just used his holographic projectors to make a coliseum. It was really intense, dueling him at such high stakes. My Duels against Kaiba are always fierce."
"So can I see the monster that beat Kaiba for the win?" Leo asked excitedly.
"I don't see why not," Yugi replied, fishing out the Fusion monster from his Deck. Leo took the card gently, holding it in awe.
"No way!" Leo gasped, "Dark Paladin the Ultimate Magical Swordsman! This is too cool!"
"Yeah, he's a favorite among my fans," Yugi admitted, "I still don't get why the girls squeal every time I summon him or Dark Magician."
"Yeah, girls are weird," Leo agreed.
"Leo!" Luna exclaimed.
"What? Half the stuff you do makes no sense to me whatsoever!"
Luna rolled her eyes. "Boys."
Yusei chuckled. "Luna, the mysteries of the other gender have befuddled people since the dawn of time."
"Huh?"
"You'll understand when you're older."
"Why does everyone say that?"
Kaiba and Crow
The two Duelists walked along the corridor in an uneasy silence. Crow was peeking in every doorway for signs of trouble while Kaiba kept on striding along, sharp blue eyes taking in every detail.
"So, what'd you do to annoy Dani?" Crow asked conversationally. Kaiba just grunted and kept on moving. "Come on man, you had to have done something to get her mad at you. I mean, you both use the same dragon, something had to have happen for her to not like you."
"Just because she uses the Blue-Eyes White Dragon doesn't mean she can unlock its fullest potential," Kaiba said cryptically.
"Are you talking about that shiny dragon you summoned earlier? Because that was one helluva dragon!"
"And I doubt you'll ever see it again," Kaiba said.
"Why not? The Duels are only gonna get tougher from here."
"I don't have to explain myself to a scrub like yourself."
Crow paused. "I can see why Dani doesn't like you. Didn't your parents teach you manners?"
"I spent my childhood in an orphanage and my teenage years being tutored by the cruelest man to own a major corporation in order to become a ruthless businessman," Kaiba answered solemnly, "All I had was Mokuba for family."
"That's rough man," Crow said after another brief silence. "No friends or anything? Just your brother?"
Kaiba glanced back and nodded, then continued forward, trudging up a staircase to the next floor. "Friends will drag you down, I don't need them and I don't want them either."
"Whoa dude, chill out. Having friends doesn't drag you down, if you make the right friends. Yeah, sure, there are some friends who aren't exactly the best people to have around, but true friendship will help you reach heights you never could reach alone. I doubt we'd be having this conversation right now if it weren't for the bonds of friendship Yusei, Jack and I all share, because we needed to work together to defeat the Dark Signers just a few months ago. Believe me, it wasn't easy. I nearly kicked the bucket several times during that fiasco."
"What's your point?" Kaiba asked, whirling about to face Crow with a glare.
"My point is that going it alone isn't gonna to help you reach the top," Crow said, glaring right back at Kaiba, "There are gonna be times where you can't do it alone and you'll have to rely on others to win. If you push everyone away, who will be there when you need help?"
"If I am too weak to accomplish my task, then I deserve to perish," Kaiba answered, "For I know I am strong enough to overcome anyone who gets in my way. At the end, no matter how many friends you have, you will always die alone."
Dani and Akiza
"I can't believe that man!" Dani huffed as she and Akiza made their way down the corridor.
"You get used to it after a while," Akiza said soothingly.
"It helps that you've got those big D-cups," Dani said.
"Excuse me?"
"I mean, I'm just a B. A high B, but a B nonetheless," Dani said nonchalantly, "You probably had to pry those boys off you with a crowbar!"
Akiza looked away, embarassed blushing furiously. "I never had to deal with that. I've always been alone until I met Yusei."
"Bull," Dani said, "You seem like a likeable woman, you can't have only been with Yusei."
"We're not!" Akiza began, then huffed. "Ugh, I was not the same girl back then that I am now."
Dani glanced at her curiously. "What makes you say that?"
Akiza sighed and held up her signature card. "This should explain."
Dani looked at the card inquisitively, smiling when she saw the powerful dragon. "That is an awesome dragon!"
"You're missing the point," Akiza said, trying to hold back a giggle at Dani's antics.
"What's your point? All I see is the Black Rose Dragon, I don't get what…" Dani trailed off as the light bulb went on. "Wait, you?" Akiza nodded shamefully. "You were the Black Rose Witch?! I don't believe it!"
"Yes," Akiza said, fighting back a tear, "I was treated like a monster because I have these psychic powers, so I tried to retaliate against the entire world."
"So you can move stuff with your mind? Bend spoons and all that?"
Akiza giggled. "No, nothing like that, but I bring Duel Monsters to life when I Duel people."
" That's pretty cool, even if it's just like the Chaos Movement."
"Yes, and the Dark Signers as well. Back then I was part of the Arcadia Movement before Yusei saved me from myself."
"The what movement?"
"The Arcadia Movement," Akiza explained patiently, "I wanted to be accepted for who I was, but Sayer just wanted to make me into a weapon. He would have me attack others as the Black Rose and I honestly enjoyed it until Yusei helped me overcome my…problem. So go ahead, laugh, call me names, I know I did horrible things."
"Yeah, but like you said; you aren't the same girl," Dani said, biting her lip. "And honestly, while you went around beating up some other Duelists, I had to steal from some other scrubs in Satellite for me to eat. If anything, I'm just as bad as you are. Don't worry about it, I'm not gonna hold it against you." She gave an encouraging smile to Akiza.
Akiza returned the smile. "Thanks Dani. We may have met just an hour ago, but you feel like the girlfriend I've never had."
"Feel free to give me a call if you need a break from the boys," Dani said as the two of them approached a door. When Dani tried it, however, it proved to be locked. A large "Keep Out!" sign hung on the door.
"Locked. Lovely," Akiza commented sarcastically.
"Not gonna be that big of a deal," Dani said coolly, reaching into her travel pack slung over her shoulder. "I'm pretty good at picking locks. Just give me a moment or three and I'll have it."
"So when did you all of a sudden get good at picking locks?" Akiza asked as Dani fished out a couple of homemade lock picks from her bag.
"I had to get inside locked buildings somehow," Dani answered, focusing on the lock, "it took forever to finally crack my first padlock. After that, I worked my way up until I can crack a lot of different locks." Akiza peered curiously at the lock Dani was working on.
"Any other secret talents you want to share with me?" she asked.
"Other than the Ninja Spire Landing and the Raccoon Rail Walk?" Dani asked with a twinkle in her eye again.
"Raccoon what?!"
"I'm just messing with ya," Dani giggled, "Bit of an inside joke for thieves. Aha! There we go!" With a final click, the door opened with an eerie creak. "Told you I could pick it."
"Are you sure there's going to be anyone down there?" Akiza asked, examining the dark staircase leading downwards. As if in response to her question, a torch lit up midway down the stairs, illuminating the way partially.
"Just a gut feeling," Dani grinned, "Why not let the others know we found something and we'll go check it out?"
"Sure," Akiza agreed, activating her Duel Disk communications feature. "Yusei, you there?"
"Checking out the ground floor, Luna's finally starting to come out of her shell around Yugi, nothing so far, what's up?" Yusei replied.
"Dani and I found something leading into the basement. Get the others, because I think someone's down there."
"You sure?"
"Positive."
"All right. But be careful."
"I'm sure we can handle it." Akiza said and ended transmission. Dani was already halfway down the stairs. "Hey, wait up!"
"Whoa!" Akiza heard Dani exclaimed, the torch bobbing in the darkness. "Check this out!" Akiza eased her way down the dark stairs, feeling her way down the stairs.
"Don't go touching anything suspicious," she warned, "We don't know what these guys could have booby-trapped."
Dani seemed to be examining a switch on the wall. "What's the worst that could happen?" She turned to face the oncoming Psychic Duelist and her travel pack connected with the switch. There was a slight rumbling, to which Dani said "Uh-oh." The staircase shifted and became a smooth slide down which Dani and Akiza slid down, both letting out shrieks of surprise as they lost their footing. It wasn't a long fall down, but the two female Duelists were unceremoniously dumped onto a mist covered floor.
Akiza groaned as she pulled herself together. "Why, Dani, why?"
Dani sat up and began to take in her surroundings. "Where are we? It looks like a graveyard." Indeed it did, as tombstones jutted up from the mist here and there. Dani couldn't even see her feet, the mist was so thick. A couple of torches provided meager enough light to see, illuminating the cobwebs that hung from the ceiling.
"Someone really took the time to make this basement as creepy as possible," Akiza commented.
"The Duelist that lives down here's probably gonna use vampires or something," Dani surmised. "It's certainly got a Halloween feel. So long as it's not…" The female Blue-Eyes Duelist shuddered as she trailed off.
"It's not what?" Akiza inquired.
"Nothing, let's keep moving." They had barely taken five steps forward when a humanoid figure sluggishly rose up from the mists right in front of the women and moaned. It was a deathly moan, the kind one would expect from a-
"ZOMBIE!" Dani shrieked and hid behind Akiza. "GETITAWAY!GETITAWAY!GETITAWAY!"
Akiza maintained her composure. "Black Rose Dragon! Take out this corpse!" She played Black Rose Dragon on her Duel Disk and the mighty dragon appeared behind her, roaring before unleashing a stream of purple fire that incinerated the walking corpse to nothing but ashes. Its task done, the flowery dragon disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. Akiza turned around to find the cowering Dani on the floor, looking on in shock.
"I really hope that was fake," Dani whimpered.
"You're not a fan of zombies?" Akiza asked.
"Absolutely hate them. The thought of corrupting a human to that point," Dani shuddered, "Ugh, whoever came up with the idea of zombies needs to be shot, burned, electrocuted, drowned, and killed violently, in that order."
Akiza sweat-dropped a little at the ferocity of the response. "Well, that wasn't so bad."
"Says the girl who can call on a dragon to defend her anytime. That had to have been fake. Please oh please, let that zombie have been a fake."
"Oh it was quite real," interrupted a dark male voice from the far side of the graveyard, a slight Latin accent noticeable if one listened closely. An artificial moon lit up on the ceiling, illuminating a middle-aged man in tattered clothes with a vulture sitting on a rotting tree next to him. "A real corpse, maybe not quite a real zombie. Not yet at least." He punctuated that sentence with a dark chuckle, his black hair the epitome of darkness
"Who are you?" Akiza demanded as Dani breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank God it wasn't a real zombie."
"I am Hueso, the Undead Lord!" proclaimed Hueso proudly. "And the Master has set me to challenge a girl in silver. He said her name is Dani Aoimoku. Step forward so I may take your soul!"
"A little extreme there, don't you think?" Dani asked.
"I mean every word I say," Hueso responded with an evil leer. "Such a shame I'll have to corrupt such beauty." He held up a black Duel Disk and black flames sprang up in a circle around the three. More black flames sprang up on the ceiling, weaving themselves into yet another symbol. The Mark of the Dragon on Akiza's arm lit up
"Death," Dani said fearfully, "Oh no…"
Western Satellite
Jack noted the black symbol for death appearing in the sky directed in front of him as he rode along. "Oh no! That's never a good sign. I just hope nobody has really died." His arm began to glow as the Wing mark of the Dragon lit up. He activated the turbo on his Runner and sped up considerably. "Good, the Duel's just starting. I hope I'm not too late!"
Central Satellite, just before B.A.D. Area
"This guy means business," Akiza noted as Yusei, Yugi, Leo and Luna came sliding down the ramp, a bit more gracefully than Akiza and Dani had.
"That was awesome!" Leo shouted, then noticed the fire. "Whoa! Who's Dueling?"
"I guess I don't have much choice," Dani said, activated her Duel Disk in response.
Dani LP: 4000 Hueso LP: 4000
"Akiza!" Yusei called.
"Dani's Dueling against this guy!" Akiza answered, "I don't like it."
"Me either. Dani! You sure about this?"
"No!" Dani answered, "But he ain't leaving me much choice."
"I summon Pyramid Turtle in Defense mode!" Hueso announced as a wrinkled turtle with a pyramid on its back appeared in front of it. Skin fell off of it in a few places as it moaned an unearthly moan.
Dani swore. "Why did it have to be zombies?"
Pyramid Turtle: Atk 1400, Def 1200 LV 4
"Because the dead shall rule this world one day!" Hueso proclaimed, "And I shall rule over death itself! I'll set this card facedown and end my turn."
Dani quivered as she drew a card. "I s-summon Masked Dragon in Attack mode!" A red and white dragon appeared in front of her, snarling.
Masked Dragon: Atk 1400, Def 1100
"And I'll attack that t-turtle of yours!" Dani announced hesitantly, "Go Masked Dragon! Attack with Flame Charge!" The dragon charged, cloaking itself in fire before slamming into the zombie turtle. Pyramid Turtle melted, groaning the entire time until it was a puddle of goo. From that puddle of goo sprang a bloated prisoner who had his stomach split open to reveal a weird gut face. It moaned at Dani, who recoiled, raw fear showing on her face.
Il Blud: Atk 2100, Def 800, LV 6
"What the hell is that!?" Dani practically screeched, fear altering her voice.
"Il Blud," Hueso answered, grinning like the Cheshire Cat. "When Pyramid Turtle is destroyed, he can special summon a Zombie type monster with less than 2000 Defense points directly from my Deck!"
"I end my turn with two cards facedown," Dani said, taking a step back.
"My turn then," Huseo said, leering again, "And I summon Mezuki in Attack mode!" A bipedal zombie horse-man hybrid wielding a axe with skulls comprising the handle appeared next to Il Blud and uttered another unearthly moan.
Mezuki: Atk 1700, Def 800, LV 4
Dani took another step back in fear. "Now Attack Il Blud! Bloody Body Slam!" The bloated zombie jumped up and came crashing towards Masked Dragon.
"I activate my f-f-facedown!" Dani stammered out, "Sakurestsu Armor! This destroys your attacking monster!" Wicked metal armor appeared around Masked Dragon, who crouched and let Il Blud land on the spiky armor. Il Blud moaned, then popped, spreading guts everywhere.
"That's just gross!" Leo groaned as his sister had to choke back bile.
"What'd I miss?" Crow asked as he and Kaiba came sliding down the ramp. Crow stopped when he saw the mess. "Eww."
"Kaiba, you and your holographic technology," Dani began when she noticed the first Blue-Eyes Duelist approach the black firewall, launching into an expletive filled tirade that made everyone, even Hueso, cringe. Kaiba glared at Dani while she cursed him out for making zombies so freakin realistic.
"What does that word mean?" Leo asked innocently.
"Leo, if you want to stay out of trouble," Yusei warned, "Don't ever use that word."
"With a God damn pig!" Dani finished, breathing heavily.
"You done?" Kaiba asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Just you wait 'til I get out of this," Dani warned.
Hueso laughed. "My dear girl, this is your last Duel. Enjoy it while you are still alive! Attack Mezuki, with Skull Slash!" The horse-man charged and sliced Masked Dragon in half with his axe, destroying the dragon. Dani winced as pain lanced her body. She then felt her right arm, the arm not wielding the Duel Disk deaden for a moment and glanced at it. Her skin, normally well maintained among women's standards, seemed wrinkly and dry, almost like it was beginning to decay.
Dani LP: 3700
"What in the world?" she asked, perplexed, "Anybody got some lotion?"
Hueso laughed again. "No lotion in the world will save you. Every time your Life Points drop in this Duel, you will slowly die and when they hit zero, you will become a true zombie, my slave for all eternity! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
That was just too much for Dani to handle. "No! No! NO! Nononononono!" She fell on her knees, unable to cope with the situation. "This can't be happening!" She held her head in her hands. "Nooo!"
"She's having a panic attack!" Yusei cried, "We have to help her!"
"No one can help her now!" Hueso yelled, "She's doomed, along with the rest of you mortals!" Hueso's dark laugh echoed around the chamber as everyone looked on helplessly at the panic-stricken Dani.
Another chapter with a dark ending. We've reached the tenth chapter, a rather nice accomplishment if I do say so myself. I really enjoyed writing most of this chapter, except for the last bit, and I'm gonna hate writing the Duel in progress. Why? I have kinemortophobia. A severe case of kinemortophobia, which is literally the fear of the undead. So, conversely, my OC has kinemortophobia. Really sucks when she has to take on a zombie Duelist like Hueso. I'm trying to exorcise a few demons here, but it's difficult *shudder*.
Anywho, what do you guys think of the Master? Should I add more cutscenes to the various bad guy Duelists? What do you think of Thomas and Allana? Is Dani's foul language too much? Let me know, I love it when you guys review!
Bonus points to those who know where Dani's inside thief joke came from!
Corina O, I'm going to need more than a just a mere description of your character: I'm gonna need a full Deck (if she's a Duelist), full description of your OC, personality and everything (I don't rely too much on pictures, but anything you got will help). But since you don't have a profile on here, or Deviantart, this could become an issue. Perhaps you could give me your review, your email address in another review (one which I will moderate to not appear on the review list, I promise on my honor as an Eagle Scout), and we'll go from there.
Reviews are always welcome, as is any and all respectful criticism. As an author, I'm always looking to improve.
Until the next chapter my friends!
