Girls' night at the Smith house.

It was a month after Clara's release from the hospital. She was recovering nicely, but really wanted some girl time. Rose and Amy agreed. The three friends hardly spent time together anymore with life getting in the way.

So on a night when John had to work late at the lab, they planned pizza, movies and gossip.

While waiting on the pizza, Amy talked about her current wedding plans.

"As of now, there really aren't any," she said as she took a sip of her wine. "Rory has to work so much right now. I told him I want to set a date by Christmas."

Clara nodded. She was lying on the sofa surrounded by pillows. John had been a hovering mother ever since she returned home. While it was sweet, it was also annoying. She was glad for his late work night as it gave her some much needed space from her brother.

She knew she couldn't do too much though as Rose was to report to him. Sometimes she hated that those two got together.

She glanced at her blonde friend who was currently paying the pizza man. She knew when they met that they would be lifelong friends and she knew she was her brother's soulmate. She wished it had happened sooner, but they each needed to walk their journey to each other. And now nothing would separate them.

Especially not that River Song.

Clara smirked at the memory of the Halloween party, when curly-haired scientist heard them behind the door. She wished she had been recording the event to replay over and over.

"What's funny?" Rose asked as she set the pizza boxes on the coffee table. Amy got up to get plates and napkins.

The brunette shrugged. "Thinking about the party."

Rose grinned. "Yes, it was very nice."

Clara rolled her eyes. "I meant the River part, not you two shagging each other in the hall closet."

The blonde laughed.

"Tell us Rose," Amy said as she set the items down. Clara reached for a slice of pizza and took a bite when the redhead continued. "How is he in bed?"

Clara choked.

Rose glanced at her brunette friend and chuckled. "He's great, Amy."

Amy raised an eyebrow as she stuck a slice in her mouth. "Just 'great?'"

Clara coughed at glared at her friend. "I really don't need to know this."

The redhead rolled her eyes. "You said you hoped he was getting some." Rose laughed again.

"Yes and I'm happy he is. But I don't need to know the specifics of my brother and best friend's sex life."

"Well I do."

Clara rolled her eyes as both of her friends laughed at her. If she was honest, she was a bit curious.

"John is the best one I've been with, and I've only been with two other men," Rose said. Amy nodded. The last guy had been a photographer on a shoot she had done. He promised her fame and glory and against her judgement, Rose went for it. She was new in the business and was willing to give anything a try. He was a photographer that Missy Oswald had shagged once when she was younger.

That should have been the first red flag.

It wasn't a completely unpleasant experience, but Rose vowed to never sleep her way to the top for a gig. It didn't work anyway, thanks to Missy. So she was always cautious afterwards.

Plus, a part of her felt like she was cheating on John even though they were only friends at the time.

I was such an idiot, the blonde thought.

"John is definitely not like those two men," Rose said as she sipped her wine. "He's not selfish. He takes his time and makes sure I'm satisfied."

Amy nodded. "But surely he wants some too." Cue Clara choking. Amy smirked. She loved timing it perfectly.

"Of course. And I'm happy to oblige."

The redhead waited until her friend sipped on her wine. "Is he big?"

This time, Clara spat her drink out. Amy roared with laughter. Rose smiled at the interaction between her friends.

"Amelia Pond, when I get off of this sofa…." Clara threatened.

"Love you," Amy said, making a heart with her hands.

The younger Smith rolled her eyes.

Rose sighed. "I don't know if John would want you to know," she glanced at Clara. "Especially his sister. But yes, he is."

"And he knows how to use it, right?"

"Amy!"

Cue another round of laughter.

By this point, Clara had had enough.

"Why don't you tell us about Rory?" she asked. "You're so concerned about my brother, but what about your fiancé?"

Rose glanced at her redheaded friend. Clara had a point.

Amy wasn't fazed. She reached for a crisp that was on the table. "Ask away."

Clara smiled. "Same question. Is Rory big?"

Amy smiled. "Yes. And believe me, he knows how to use it too." She waggled her eyebrows.

The three friends laughed.

They continued talking about their sexual experiences for a few minutes more before Rose excused herself to the loo.

Amy then changed the subject.

"Is your brother at all concerned about River being there tonight?"

Clara shrugged. "I don't think so. He's made his point. If she's stupid enough to try anything now, he'll follow up on his promise."

"You think he'd really fire her?"

The brunette sipped her wine. "Yes. John is a nice guy, but you saw the storm building in his eyes at the hospital. It's been brewing ever since. I think he's actually looking for something to blow up at. He won't with Rose or me because he knows better. But if River looks at him wrong, he will gladly let her have it."

She sighed. "This investigation is really getting to him."

Rose sat back down, listening intently. She chewed on her lip, a sure sign she was worried for her lover.

"Why? I thought he has nothing to hide," Amy said.

"He doesn't, that's the problem." Clara took another slice of pizza. "Whoever this mole is, he or she is trying to find anything they can because he's honest. So they're looking into his personal life." She glanced at her blonde friend. "They tried resurrecting that New Year's picture, saying he was getting involved with a coworker."

Amy frowned. "Is that illegal?"

Clara shook her head. "No, but he does have certain rules. No one can be in the same department if involved; too much of a distraction."

Rose nodded. "Makes sense." She wished she had had that rule when she slept with that photographer.

Lesson learned, she thought.

Clara nodded back. "And River is in his department. He hired her directly. So he would be breaking his own rule if he did date her."

Amy twirled her wine glass. "Good thing he's in love with someone else," she said smiling at her blonde friend.

Rose smiled back.

"But they're trying to say that it's unethical for him to date a coworker when he has this rule. He's been able to prove so far that it's not true."

The tall redhead rolled her eyes. "Why won't they leave him alone?"

Clara shrugged. "Harold has it in for him, somehow."

"Oh! Speaking of Harold," Rose said. "Did you know he's 'dating' someone else now?"

Her two friends shook their heads.

"This ought to be good," Amy mumbled.

Rose smirked. "Martha Jones."

The injured brunette raised an eyebrow. "The bakery owner?"

The blonde nodded. "Yup. She's had a crush on him for forever and I guess it makes him look better to date a 'commoner' than a high-paying model." She rolled her eyes.

Amy laughed. "He's already going to be prime minister; why does it matter?"

Rose shrugged. "Who knows?"

The three friends finished their meal and after cleaning up, put on a movie. They continued to talk about various subjects.

Rose received a text.

Can't wait to be off and see you.

She smiled.

I love you.

His reply was immediate.

Rose Tyler, I love you.

"Seriously, get a room," Clara said.

Rose glanced behind her. "We have one," she said with a smirk.

"Ew! No not his."

The redhead and the blonde laughed.

"What are you going to do when you walk in on them, Clara?" Amy asked.

"Gouge my eyes out."

They all laughed now.

"You'll miss all the cute moments between them then," Amy said as she munched on some popcorn. Rose reached for some crisps.

"Good," Clara replied. "I love you two together but there's only so much saccharine I can take."

The blonde looked at the redhead. "Time to up the saccharine."

Amy nodded. Clara groaned.

The girls' night continued, and it was exactly what the doctor ordered.

John ran a hand through his floppy hair.

One hour left and I can go home.

That thought made him incredibly happy. He wanted nothing more than to see his girlfriend and bury himself inside her.

He loved his work. He really and truly did. But like every job, there are things you don't like. And tonight was one of them. Some of his team needed to work late as they were against a deadline for a new vaccine to be used overseas. He promised them extra pay and another week off to compensate, but they still had to be there.

That included River Song.

John was keeping his eye on her and so far, she seemed to be staying away. Only when it was necessary did the two speak. He suspected she had something to do with the New Year's picture being dragged up again for the ethics board.

He was considering hiring a private investigator to watch her. He didn't trust her at all. Especially when it came to Rose. He could feel it in his gut that she was going to try something else to break them up.

It won't work. Rose Tyler is my soulmate. My one true love.

He smiled again as his blonde girlfriend invaded his thoughts.

"What's got you smiling?" Nardole asked him.

"Nothing particular," he lied. Nardole gave him a look.

"Yeah, sure. It's that pretty girlfriend of yours."

John chuckled. The bald man was incredibly astute.

"What can I say?" John said as he handed him the report he had done. "She's great."

Nardole nodded. He had always found John's best friend attractive but never dared to do anything about it because he knew how John felt. Even if his boss was slow to figure it out. "And if I may say sir, it is great seeing you happy." He looked around. "Unlike some other people, most of us were hoping you two would figure it out."

John smiled, knowing what his colleague meant. "Thank you, Nardole. That does mean a lot."

The bald man smiled and took his report to his desk.

River had been watching the two men converse from her spot on the other side of the room. John was efficiently avoiding her. He had only spoken to her twice regarding her part of the project and it was killing her. Granted, he usually only spoke to her about work, but with his walls up, it was even harder to get an answer out of him.

She sighed. Hopefully those pictures she sent of him at the hospital with Rose Tyler help somehow. Given how he has turned her down, she wanted nothing more than to see him suffer. And if that meant ruining his relationship with the beautiful blonde, so be it.

Even if he ends up hating her, it'll be worth it.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

River Song wanted revenge for his rejection. Even though he made no attempts for her to think he wanted her at all, she still wanted him to pay.

Taking down his lab will help.

She looked up as he placed a report on her desk and walked away without a word. She did feel bad that the tension between them was so strong. But it was entirely her fault. And she knew that. She loved him, so she wanted him to not suffer. But she was tired of waiting.
