Sorry it's been so long guys, a couple of knuckleheads at my job got their sorry backsides fired for a couple of rather stupid reasons, so my life after my entertaining vacation in the Poconos consisted of eating, sleeping, and working. I ended up with 10 hours of overtime pay, which I guess makes it worthwhile. That, and the brownie points earned with management should pay off, but it prevented me from getting back to this story you all have come to love. Without further ado, the next chapter of Yugioh: Chaos Unleashed!

Chapter 16: Power Tool Dragon: Get your Gears in Gear!
Yusei held the sword towards the one door they hadn't tried yet. All the other doors had had some exotic dangerous animal or a not-so-elaborate booby trap that had left Kaiba with a torn trench coat, another scratch on Yusei's cheek (the same one where Spartacus had cut him), and a singed hand for Yugi where a particularly fiery trap had nearly ended their adventure right there. The heat in the arena had left everyone feeling rather tired.
"This has got to be the last door, right?" Luna asked wearily. The heat had taken its toll on her, especially with her frail physical condition. That, coupled with the fact that she could sense her twin Dueling for his life, left her exhausted.
"I sure hope so," Yusei said, more to himself than to anybody else. He lifted the sword that served as a key for all these doors slowly, struggling against gravity before inserting the sword into the final lock. The group could hear the gears turning in the arena as the doors creaked open. Yusei peered into the dark room warily, looking for anything the Master might have left behind. Inside the room was a small box, illuminated by a single crimson spotlight shining on the box.
"That doesn't look like the way out," Yugi commented, "maybe there's something we're missing, another lock or key."
"Perhaps there's a door hidden beneath one of the holograms," Yusei suggested, turning to Kaiba. "Did you see anything that might have suggested that?"
Kaiba shook his head. "I doubt it. From what I've gathered about the way the Master operates, whatever we need to move on is going to be in that box in there." He pointed at the box in the red spotlight before continuing. "And I can almost guarantee that it's booby-trapped."
Yusei began peering into the room, shining the powerful flashlight he had gotten from Dani's bag into every nook and cranny he could find. "You sure Kaiba? I can't find anything."
Kaiba's sharp blue eyes looked about the room, narrowing as he spotted something Yusei had missed. "You obviously aren't looking hard enough. Watch." He flung one of his useless cards into the room, the card flying straight until it activated a hard-to-spot tripwire. A guillotine-type axe fell from the ceiling, slicing the card in half and causing everyone to jump. "You should really get some glasses."
"We can't all have 20/20 vision," Yugi said sagely, "Nice catch Kaiba."
Kaiba grunted, then nodded at Luna. "I don't want something like that happening to her. Let's get her in the shade before she gets heat stroke." He ushered Luna inside the room quickly, leaving Yugi and Yusei to look at each other in a brief moment of confusion.
"One minute he's insulting us, the next he's caring for Luna," Yusei observed.
Yugi half-smiled. "I think he has a soft spot for kids around Mokuba's age."
"His younger brother?" Yusei asked, yanking the sword out of the lock and bringing it in with him. The short sword might come in handy.
"Yeah. He's around Luna's age in our time," Yugi explained, "And Leo for that matter. If there's one thing Kaiba can't stand, it's watching kids suffer. He doesn't want what happened between him and Gozaburo Kaiba to happen to anyone else. I guess it's his way of showing he cares."
Yusei shrugged and looked at Kaiba as he tended to Luna, explaining what she should do if she feels certain symptoms of heat exhaustion. "I guess it is." The two of them walked past Kaiba and Luna to examine the box. "What's in this thing?" Upon closer examination, the box had several symbols on its sides, symbols that seemed very familiar to Yugi.
"I don't know, but I can't shake the feeling that I know where those symbols are from," Yugi said, trailing off as he tried to rack his brain for answers.
Yami came out of the puzzle, sensing Yugi's confusion. He too peered at the box curiously, trying to make sense of where he'd seen that symbol before.
"It can't hold much," Yusei surmised, "It's small. Maybe it holds a key of some sort." The Head Signer reached out to grab the box for a closer examination. However, when he grabbed the box, there was a whirring noise, a quick buzzer, and Yusei found himself dropping the box as a painful electric shock zipped through his system. "Yow! It's got a security system!"
"Are you okay Yusei?" Luna asked, concern evident in her weary voice.
Yusei nodded grimly. "I'm fine, but I doubt we're getting into this box."
Yugi's eyes lit up with realization. "Let me see the box!"
Yusei reached for Yugi as the King of Games reached for the little box. "Don't!"
"I remember now! These symbols are the ones on the Dark Magician's card," Yugi explained, picking up the box. There was the whirring noise again, but instead of a buzzer, there was a ding.
"King of Games fingerprints identified. Welcome." The box said in a female computer voice before a hiss emanated from the box, the lid slowly lifting.
"What is it?" Kaiba asked, looking over at Yusei and Yugi.
"It's a couple of Duel Monsters card," Yugi said, plucking the two cards out of the box. "They look like a couple of Monster cards, but why is the background white?"
"White means they're Synchro Monsters," Yusei explained, looking at the cards. "Whoa, they look just like two of your most famous monsters, but at the same time they're completely different. Do you have a Tuner Monster to Synchro Summon them though? I know Tuners didn't exist in your time yet, so you probably don't own one."
"Actually, I have one," Yugi said, reaching into his coat pocket before pulling out the Monster card he had found earlier that morning. "Magical Girl. She isn't much, but she is a Tuner."
"Hmm," Yusei said, thinking, "Perhaps it's a long shot, but you could probably use those Synchro Monsters in a Duel."
"I don't see why not," Yugi said, placing his two new Synchro Monsters into his Extra Deck, next to Dark Paladin and Dragon Master Knight. "But why would the Master leave a couple of powerful cards like these lying about."
Luna closed her eyes. "Something tells me the Master didn't know that box was down here."
"But if he didn't place it down here," Yusei said, "Then who did?"
Jungle Room
Leo gritted his teeth as Amazoness Paladin resumed her ready pose in front of the female ninja standing across the field, surrounded by a black firewall and a wooden fence, he felt cornered. He couldn't afford to lose though. He glanced at his fallen friends: Crow, Akiza, and Dani had all been taken out with ease so that Kuno could Duel him alone.
'At least she's Dueling me,' Leo thought to himself, sparing another pained glance at his friends before focusing back on Kuno Ichi. 'There's no way I could've beaten her in a regular fight. I have a chance here.'
"I'll end my turn with another facedown," Kuno said simply, black eyes never leaving Leo's.
Leo grinned nervously as he drew a card. "He he, you're really serious." He turned his eyes to his cards, still feeling Kuno's intense glare. "I summon Morphtronic Radion in Attack mode!" A little robot that looked like a radio appeared next to Clocken.
Morphtronic Radion: Atk 1000, Def 900, LV 4
"And now I'll use his special ability!" Leo shouted, throwing his fist in the air, "Since he's in Attack Position, I can now increase the Attack points of all Morphtronics on the field by a full 800 points!" Radion began emitting a frequency that was picked up by Clocken and both little robot monsters suddenly grew about a foot in height.
Morphtronic Radion: Atk 1800 Morphtronic Clocken: Atk 2400
Kuno continued to simply glare at Leo, making the young Duelist hesitate before continuing. "Now that my Morphtronics are stronger than ever before, I'll attack your Amazoness Fighter with my Morphtronic Radion!" The little radio robot charged, fists crackling with electricity.
"I activate a Trap," Kuno said calmly. "Mirror Force."
"No way!" Leo shouted.
"Yes," Kuno said as the purple card flipped up, "Now all Attack Position monsters on your side of the field are destroyed." Amazoness Paladin had a mirror-like shield appear and the armored woman stepped in front of Amazoness Fighter, ready to deflect Radion's attack.
"What do I do?" Leo cried, shocked that she would use such an old card. Then he remembered one of his facedowns. "Ha! I activate Morphtronic Forcefield to protect my Morphtronics! Now your Trap gets destroyed and I get to add another Morphtronic from my Deck to my hand!" Radion was cloaked in a rainbow energy that shattered Amazoness Paladin's shield, knocking the Amazoness to the side. Radion continued through and punched Amazoness Fighter, destroying the monster. Kuno showed no signs of pain as the damage continued through to her.
Kuno LP: 3900
"I activate my Trap, Queen's Pawn," Kuno said, "Whenever an Amazoness is destroyed, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Amazoness from my Deck. Amazoness Swords Woman, battle dance!" Another powerful woman with even less armor than Amazoness Paladin appeared, though this Amazoness wielded a much bigger sword. She crouched down in Defense mode, sword held up defensively.
Amazoness Swords Woman: Atk 1500, Def 1600, LV 4
"And don't forget the power boost Amazoness' get from the village," Kuno reminded Leo.
Amazoness Swords Woman: Atk 1700
"Okay," Leo said, "But she won't stop my next attack! Morphtronic Clocken, take out that Amazoness Paladin!" The little clock robot charged right through the Paladin's defense and obliterated the female warrior. Kuno again showed no signs of pain from the backlash of the attack.
Kuno LP: 3300
"You're not so tough!" Leo taunted. "I end my turn with one card face down."
"My turn then," Kuno said, drawing a card. "I'll activate the Equip Spell Amazoness Heirloom and equip it to my Amazoness Swords Woman. This'll give her a couple of abilities that make her invincible." A pendant with a large green jewel appeared around the Swords Woman's neck, settling in her cleavage.
"Invincible?" Leo laughed. "No monster is invincible."
"Perhaps, if you wielded a different Deck," Kuno admitted, "But with the Deck you possess, you cannot stop my Swords Woman. Observe as I shift Amazoness Swords Woman into Attack mode and attack your Morphtronic Clocken."
Leo snickered. "You've lost it. Clocken will easily destroy her." Amazoness Swords Woman charged and slashed at the clock robot. Her sword began glowing as Morphtronic Clocken blew up right below Leo's astonished eyes. "No way! But Clocken had more Attack points! He should've destroyed that swords lady and you should take damage."
"Thanks to Amazoness Heirloom, Swords Woman can't be destroyed and she can automatically destroy any monster that she attacks," Kuno explained, "And thanks to Swords Woman's special ability, YOU take the damage I would've taken."
"What? Agh!" Leo yelled as the Swords Woman appeared behind him, giving Leo a slash to the back. The attack hurt like nothing Leo had ever felt before.
Leo LP: 2600
"There goes your strategy of using Clocken's special ability against me," Kuno commented.
"How did you know?" Leo gasped, having fallen on all fours from the agony.
"You have a horrible poker face," Kuno said simply, "I'll summon Amazoness Scouts in Defense mode and end my turn." Two young Amazon warriors appeared, both of then covered more than their more mature counterparts. One was yellow and wielded a sword while the other was blue and used a bow for attack. They looked around warily, crouching down in observation of the other monsters.
Amazoness Scouts: Atk 500, Def 1100, LV 2
"And thanks to Amazoness Village, the Scouts gain another 200 Attack points," Kuno said, "Which may not be much, but every point counts in these Duels."

Leo pushed himself to his feet, trying to stop the trembling that had started in his arms. He wasn't sure if it was from the pain or from fear.
"I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid!" he said to himself. He glanced at Akiza, still unconscious. "Scratch that, I'm totally afraid. I wish Luna was here."
Jack Atlas groaned as his body slowly returned to consciousness. Whatever that sedative was that the ninja had used on him was finally wearing off and Jack could return to the land of the living. Wait. That ninja. She must be-
Jack sat upright and immediately wished he hadn't, even as recent memory surfaced. "Owww, my head. Damn that woman. She must have caught up to the others by now, if I've been out for as long as I think I have." Jack looked at his arm and saw his mark of the Crimson Dragon glowing. "Someone must be Dueling nearby. I hope I can find them in time." Jack stood up woozily, taking several deep breaths to try and steady himself, the lingering effects of the sedative Kuno used still affecting his motor capabilities.
"Okay, we were walking this way," Jack said to himself, so I'm probably going to find the others sooner or later. The way that woman was moving, she's probably caught up to them a while ago. Better keep moving, see if I can catch up."
Leo looked at Kuno, then looked at his hand, and back to Kuno. He knew he had to do something about Swords Woman or that Amazoness would finish him off slowly.
"I end my turn with a face down." Kuno said. She was confident that she would be the first in the Chaos Movement to win this day. The others simply weren't focused enough. The kunoichi allowed herself a brief flash of satisfaction before clamping down on that emotion. She couldn't afford any more distractions. All it takes is one domino to fall for the rest to follow, the Master had told her, and that Leo was to be the first domino.
Arena
Yugi closed the box and placed it back in the spot where he found it. "So, where to?"
"Hopefully the way out of here," Luna said, resting against the wall. "I'm tired."
"It's starting to get late," Kaiba said, glancing at his watch, "The sun will be setting soon."
Yusei was surprised. "We've been in this maze for that long?!"
Kaiba nodded. "We should get moving. I don't want to spend the night down here."
Yusei nodded, shining the flashlight around the room. "My guess is we should use that door over there." He walked over to the door, inspected it for booby traps, and opened it, revealing a torch-lit corridor. "This whole underground maze thing is really starting to get old."
"Nothing else we can do but keep moving," Yugi said, following Yusei down the hallway."
"Come on," Kaiba said to Luna, helping her to her feet.
"Why are you being so nice to me all of sudden?" Luna asked quietly.
Kaiba froze. "Who's the older one of you and Leo?"
"Physically or mentally?"
That drew a rare smile to the Kaibacorp president's face. "I take it you're the big sister then."
Luna nodded. "Leo likes to think he's protecting me, but I end up saving him more often than not."
Kaiba knelt down and looked her in her eyes. "I also have a little brother. He's about your age. As the older sibling, we have a responsibility to take care of our younger brothers. I don't want you to become unable to do that. When I see Leo, I see Mokuba; young, naïve, excited for the world. You are like me; down to earth, grounded in reality. You haven't got my resources, but I can see that you care for your brother very much. You need to grow strong, but we have to survive this first."
Luna just gaped at him, stunned by this turnaround. "Kaiba…"
"Do not take this as me growing soft," Kaiba growled, back to his old self. "I have a reputation to uphold. Let's keep moving."
Jungle
Leo drew a card, closing his eyes and not daring to look at the card right away. He opened his eyes, saw what the card was, then smiled broadly. "I summon Morphtronic Slingen to the field in Attack mode!" A large silver and red robot slingshot appeared on the field, twanging his rubber band a couple of times.
Morphtronic Slingen: Atk 1200, Def 800, LV 4
"Next I'll activate Junk Box to bring back Morphtronic Staplen to the field in Attack mode for one turn!" Leo shouted. The stapler robot reappeared, though it had seen better days and looked like it could fall apart by the end of the turn.
Morphtronic Staplen: Atk 1400, Def 1000, LV 4
"And I'll use Staplen to activate Slingen's special ability!" Leo announced, "By sacrificing Staplen, I can use Slingen to destroy one of your monsters without doing battle. Alright Morphtronic Staplen, become ammo for Slingen to destroy that Amazoness Swords Woman! So much for your unbeatable warrior!" Staplen leaped into Slingen's rubber band and began it stretching backwards. Slingen then fired Staplen at a high speed at Amazoness Swords Woman. The attack would have succeeded too if it hadn't been for the Amazoness Scouts leaping in the way and intercepting the Morphtronic projectile. "What the!?"
"Whenever an Amazoness is about to be destroyed," Kuno explained calmly, "Amazoness Scouts can take its place and be destroyed instead. My Swords Woman is safe."
"Uh-oh," Leo said simply, "And I can't attack since she'll simply destroy my monsters. I switch Morphtronic Radion into Defense mode and end my turn. Since Radion is in Defense mode, all Morphtronics gain 1000 defense points!" The little radio robot folded up into a little defensive form, emitting a new radio signal.
Morphtronic Radion: Atk 1000, Def 1900 Morphtronic Slingen: Def 1700
"It won't help you," Kuno said, drawing a card. "For now I summon Amazoness Blowpiper in Defense mode!" A blue-haired woman with minimal skull-themed armor and a skull blowpipe appeared, crouching down to minimize how much of her was exposed.
Amazoness Blowpiper: Atk 800, Def 1500, LV 3
"She also gains 200 attack points from Amazoness Village, but they won't be needed," Kuno said, "For I can use her ability to lower the attack of your Morphtronic Slingen by 500 points!"
Amazoness Blowpiper: Atk 1000
Amazoness Blowpiper took aim and shot a dart that hit Morphtronic Slingen right where its little chest would be. The little robot appeared a bit deflated from the poison.
Morphtronic Slingen: Atk 700
"Now, Amazoness Swords Woman, destroy that Morphtronic Slingen!" Kuno said. The Amazoness charged and sliced Morphtronic Slingen in two, obliterating the little robot. Leo screamed from the backlash, the pain unbearable.
Leo LP: 1600
Jack heard the scream and began running along the path. It was a scream that sent a nasty shiver up his spine. It was almost inhuman. He still recognized who that scream belonged to.
"Leo!" Jack cried, sprinting along until he came upon a large circular wooden fence. "What is this?" Jack circled around until he found an entrance, guarded by two strong, exotic women armed with spears. Upon his approach, the women crossed the spears in front of him.
"You are not allowed in here, man," one of the women said.
Jack looked passed her and saw a ring of black fire in the middle of the village. He activated his Duel Disk "I don't have time to argue with the likes of you. Red Dragon Archfiend, clear a path for me!" The demonic dragon appeared behind Jack and roared before sending fireballs at the warrior women, scattering them. Jack strode into the Amazoness village unscathed and beheld the Duel before him. "What's going on?"
"Jack!" Leo cried in relief, "You're here!"
Kuno frowned, but that was the only emotion she showed. "You're here to witness the first domino fall, Atlas. I end my turn."
"Where are the others?" Jack asked Leo, ignoring the kunoichi.
"This lady, she calls herself Kuno, came and knocked everybody out!" Leo explained hurriedly, "I couldn't believe it, then she challenged me to a Duel and here we are."
Jack nodded. "Be careful."
Leo grinned and gave Jack a thumbs up. "I've got this. My turn!" He drew a card and looked at it. "Awesome! I activate Morphtronic Accelerator! This allows me to destroy one card on the field by sending a Morphtronic monster back to my Deck! Return, Morphtronic Vacuumen and let me destroy that Amazoness Swords Woman!" A thunderbolt appeared in Leo's hand and he threw at the sword-wielding woman that had been a pain in his backside for too many turns. The woman shrieked before exploding, leaving Kuno Ichi with no monsters in front of her.
"Nice move," Jack commented. This was his first time watching Leo Duel, and while he never really liked Morphtronics, he acknowledged that Leo was using them well.
"Now I Summon Morphtronic Scopen in Attack mode!" Leo shouted. A microscope-like robot appeared, waving a couple of little arms around almost comically.
Morphtronic Scopen: Atk 800, Def 1400, LV 3
"Watch as I summon my favorite monster!" Leo yelled, "I tune my Level three Morphtronic Scopen with my Level four Morphtronic Radion to Synchro Summon Power Tool Dragon!" Scopen jumped up, dissolving into three green rings that surrounded Morphtronic Radion. The little radio turned into four more stars before a silver and yellow light erupted within the rings.
"When Morphtronics morph, it's not just a beautiful thing! It's a Synchro thing!" Leo shouted, "I Synchro Summon the Power Tool Dragon!" From the light stepped a yellow metal dragon with a green screwdriver for a left arm, a blue power shovel for a right arm, a normal shovel attached to the end of its long silver tail, and silvery metallic skin showing where the yellow armor didn't cover Power Tool Dragon. It gave off a metallic roar at the ninja standing across the field from it.
Power Tool Dragon: Atk 2300, Def 2500, LV 7
"Now I activate an Equip Spell!" Leo shouted, placing the last card in his hand on the Duel Disk, "Break! Draw! This lets me draw a card if I destroy one of your monsters! It may not help his attack points, but it helps me in more ways than one" Power Tool Dragon seemed to glow as the Equip Spell took effect before fading back to his normal colors.
"Attack that ninja girl directly!" Leo yelled triumphantly. Power Tool Dragon roared and slashed at Kuno with his screwdriver. The kunoichi grabbed her black katana off her hip and used it to deflect the metal dragon's attack. As quickly as she drew it, the katana was sheathed again as Power Tool Dragon rumbled back to Leo, quite proud of his work.
Kuno LP: 1000
"Ha!" I've got this in the bag!" Leo laughed, enjoying himself.
"So you think," Kuno said, still as calm as ever.
"I'll just end my turn," Leo said, smiling broadly. That smile faltered as he watched Kuno draw her card, face as impassive as ever.
"I activate the Trap Amazoness Willpower," Kuno said, "This allows me to Special Summon an Amazoness from my Grave in Attack mode and if I enter the Battle Phase of my turn, it must attack. Come back Amazoness Swords Woman!" The warrior lady reappeared, causing Leo to cringe.
"Not her again!" Leo cried, "At least she doesn't have that heirloom thingy anymore."
"I won't be needing it," Kuno said, "For now I sacrifice Swords Woman to summon the ultimate Amazon, the Amazoness Queen!" Swords Woman dissolved and formed into a new woman, a blue- haired regal looking woman wearing royal, if minimal, armor and was armed with a large scimitar.
Amazoness Queen: Atk 2400, Def 1800, LV 6
"Next, I'll activate the card I just drew, Solidarity," Kuno said, "Since I only have one type of Monster in my Grave, Warrior types, all monsters on my side of the field gain 800 Attack Points!" The Amazoness Queen smirked as the shadows of all the fallen Amazoness danced around her briefly before being absorbed into her body.
Amazoness Queen: Atk 3200
"And of course, don't forget the power boost my Queen gets from the village," Kuno added.
Amazoness Queen: Atk 3400
"Uh-oh," Leo said simply, stepping back in fear.
Kuno nodded. "Amazoness Queen, strike down that Power Tool Dragon with your Regal Slash attack!" Amazoness Queen hefted her scimitar, sprinted forward past Power Tool Dragon's flailing attempts to stop her, and slashed Power Tool Dragon in an X pattern across his armored chest. The Metal Dragon roared in agony from the attack, its yellow chest plate falling to the ground and shattering, revealing vulnerable silver 'skin' underneath. Amazoness Queen took this opening and went for the kill, but was stopped by a white energy that repulsed her attack and sent the leader of the Amazons back to Kuno's side of the field. Power Tool Dragon still stood, but just barely. Leo was knocked off his feet by the backlash of the attack, the agony making him pass out for a moment.
Leo LP: 500
"Leo!" Jack called out, concern etched on his face. The lad was coming to, struggling to sit up to continue this Duel.
Maze
Luna gasped as she felt a sudden shock of pain lance down her back. This didn't come from her Signer mark either; it came from her twin connection with her brother.
"What's wrong?" Yusei asked, wondering if he had missed a booby trap somewhere.
"Leo's in trouble," Luna said simply, "He's Dueling someone and he's losing!"
It took a second for Yusei to fully grasp it. "Leo? He's Dueling?! What happened to the others?"
"I don't know!" Luna answered, a hint of panic creeping into her voice from the pain she had felt, "I can't sense them. I can't sense anybody but Jack and Leo! You don't think the Master got to them, do you?"
Yusei paused, scared by the implications of her question. Losing two Signers would be bad enough, but he didn't think he could bear the thought of losing Akiza. "I sure hope not."
"Please," Luna said to the heavens, hands clasped in prayer, "Leo, stay strong. You have to keep going!"
Jungle Room
Leo kept fading in and out of consciousness as he tried to force himself to his feet. That last blow had taken most of his energy, it was all he could do just to stay awake.
'Why fight it?' a voice asked in his head, 'She's going to defeat you next turn anyways. That means more pain. Just give in to the darkness and let the eternal sleep wrap you in its embrace.' It sounded so easy to Leo. No more fighting, no more suffering, just a long sleep. He began to close his eyes when Luna's voice reached his ears.
"Leo, stay strong! You have to keep going!" Luna's voice rang out, "For the others! But most importantly, for me. You're my brother Leo; I don't want to lose you. You have to keep fighting!"
That got Leo to perk up noticeably. "Luna?"
"You have to help us defeat the Chaos Movement!" Luna continued, "I don't want to win only to find out I lost my brother."
"You got it sis," Leo said, pushing himself upright, a newfound surge of energy coursing through him. Kuno raised an eyebrow as Leo managed to finally stand up, but said nothing. "By unequipping an Equip Spell from Power Tool Dragon, I can save him from being destroyed in battle."
"I will send him to the scrap heap next turn," Kuno said, "Your move first."
"Sure is," Leo agreed wearily, pulling a card from his Deck. His eyes widened when it wasn't the card he was hoping for. He still had one last play to make though. "I activate Power Tool Dragon's special ability! Once per turn, I can select three Equip Spells from my Deck, you choose one randomly, I keep that one, and the others go back to my Deck! So choose!" Leo plucked three cards from his Deck and held them up, backs facing Kuno.
The kunoichi narrowed her eyes as she tried to read Leo's face, but for once, the boy wisely closed his eyes and looked away, not giving her any tell she could work with. "I choose the one in the center."
Leo grinned as he grabbed the card. "Thanks, you selected one of my favorites. First I activate Double Tool C & D, which gives Power Tool Dragon another 1000 Attack points for my turn!" Power Tool Dragon's screwdriver morphed into a wicked drill while his blue scooper turned into a red buzz saw.
Power Tool Dragon: Atk 3300
"Not enough to overcome my Amazoness Queen, sadly for you," Kuno said, allowing herself a smile.
"Not if I give another Equip Spell to Power Tool Dragon!" Leo shot back. "It's my favorite! MegaMorph!"
That drew a shocked look to the kunoichi's face. "What?"
Leo was distracted by a groan from behind the ninja. Dani chose that moment to wake up, those she was currently wishing she hadn't. "Stupid tree, why did it have to be so hard?"
"Dani!" Leo cried, "You're awake!"
The female Blue-Eyes Duelist sat up slowly, holding her head. She noted a trickle of blood trailing down the side of her right cheek, next to her silver marks. "Got an aspirin?"
"Would you let Leo finish this Duel?" Jack snapped at her.
"Oh shut up Kaiba," Dani snapped back, obviously not operating at maximum efficiency. She looked around and saw Power Tool Dragon roaring at the ninja not 5 feet in front of her. "You!"
"Would you like another nap?" Kuno asked emotionlessly, one hand on her katana, "A permanent one?"
"Piss off!" Dani shot back, taking a step back regardless. She stumbled and fell on her butt, motor skill still recovering. "Leo! I don't know what's going on, but beat this bitch!"
Leo grinned before continuing his move. "Since I have less Life Points than you do, MegaMorph doubles the attack points of my Power Tool Dragon!"
Power Tool Dragon: Atk 6600
"That's a lot of Attack Points," Dani said simply, watching Power Tool Dragon advance.
"Now go my friend, take out Amazoness Queen and show the Master I am not the weak link!" Leo shouted, throwing his fist into the air. The yellow and silver dragon roared in agreement, bringing his weapons together to create a beam of orange energy that completely destroyed Amazoness Queen and knocked Kuno off her feet. She performed a handspring and launched into a series of flips before leaping into a tree, ready to make her escape.
Kuno LP: 0
"You're one lucky kid," was all she offered before she disappeared into the foliage, making her way back to the Master.
"Booyahkasha!" Leo shouted, Power Tool Dragon rumbling an agreement before fading back into his card. The young lad smiled before falling to a knee, exhausted as the both the black firewall and the wooden village faded into nothing.
"That was trippy," Dani said simply, just noticing the village before it disappeared. "Nice dragon, Leo, but I prefer living dragons over metal ones."
"Is everyone alright?" Jack asked, striding into the ring where the intense Duel had just concluded. A couple of groans got his attention. Akiza and Crow were finally stirring as well.
"We're all alive," Dani said, "That's what counts."
Maze
Yusei led his group through the maze, sensing a subtle shift in the lay of the floor. He picked the direction of each fork in the maze base on how the floor sloped. If it went up, he chose it. If it went down, he ignored it. His thoughts were interrupted as Luna giggled.
"Leo did it!" she said in relief.
"Good, what about the others?" Yusei asked.
"I think they're alright as well," Luna answered after a pause to concentrate, "I can feel Crow and Akiza again.
"Thank goodness," Yusei said, a weight shifting off his chest. He too had been worried, though the fact that the corridor seemed to be sloping uphill was another encouraging sign. "I think we're almost out too."
"I can almost smell that fresh air!" Yugi said, inhaling deeply. They came to another fork in the maze.
"Which way now?" Luna asked, looking at the tunnels. Yusei startled them all by switching off the flashlight, leaving only the red glow of his and Luna's Signer marks as the only source of light in the darkness.
"Look down that tunnel," Yusei said, "I can see a faint light."
"Awesome!" Yugi said, "Let's go!" The group hurried forward, eager to get out.
"What about the others?" Yusei asked as they neared the end of the tunnel, "Shouldn't we wait for them?"
"I think you should worry about yourself first," Thomas Aka interrupted, flooding the tunnel with a black and red light.
And there we have it! Chapter 16 is done! 'twas later than I would've liked, but it's done! Did you enjoy Leo's Duel? Yes, I decided to give a couple of Synchro Monsters to Yugi, both of them are fan-made, but feel free to speculate their theme.
Fan-Choice update! It's the first round of eliminations! The Teams that survived (ie Got the most votes) are as follows:
Jack + Kaiba
Yusei + Kaiba
Kaiba + Dani
Akiza + Dani (!)
Those are your choices; you'll have this chapter and the next chapter to vote for these four teams before I announce the final pairing to Duel the Six Samurai bros.
I'm not going to lie; I was surprised to see plenty of votes for Dani. I suppose it's a compliment to my character. Now, if only that one troll guest who said Dani was a Sue could understand. Youse guys don't think she's a Sue character, do you?
It looks like the Joey chapter is a go, I will find a place to include such an interlude and hope you are looking forward to it as much as I am.
Guest 2, I have no idea what that dog vs joey means, I already have Joey's opponent planned. Yeesh.
Corina O, Darkfrost, you both made me feel silly. I honestly hadn't heard of Capsule Monsters. When I looked it up, well, needless to say, it was different. I think I'll stick with the traditional version of Alexander the Great, no offense.
HorusDuelistX, thank you for the kinds words, I hope to hear from you in future chapters
MaleficKing, it was your comments that inspired the little peek into Kaiba's good half this chapter, but I portray him as an ass because most of the time he is an ass. I appreciate your comments and hope to hear from you in future chapters.
Thoughts? Questions? Concerns? Reviews are always welcome, as is any and all respectful criticism. As an author, I'm always looking to improve.
Until the next chapter my friends!
