"Go Tempest, the Dragon Ruler of Storms!" Draco shouted, "Attack Jack's Life Points directly!" The Wind Attribute Dragon Ruler of Storms roared in agreement, swooping towards Jack's Runner with sky blue energy swirling around his form.
"Watch out Jack!" Yusei called, trailing behind the two Duelists. "Do something!"
"Will you quit yapping Yusei?" Jack shot back, "I've got this under control." He tapped a button on his Duel Runner. "I activate the Changing Destiny Trap card! This negates your direct attack!" The Trap card flipped up and Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Storms flew into it. A red door appeared behind Jack while a blue door appeared in front of Draco as the Dragon disappeared.
"What's this?" Draco exclaimed, seeing the glow around both doors.
"Now you get a choice," Jack continued, "Either you gain Life Points equal to half of the total Attack points of your Dragon Ruler of Storms, or I take damage equal to half of the Attack points of your Dragon."
Draco grinned as he drove right through the blue door, shattering it. "I think the choice is obvious. I choose to deal 1200 points of damage to you!" The red door behind Jack opened and Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Storms came flying out with a triumphant roar, sending Jack's Runner spinning.
"Hang on Jack!" Yusei shouted, watching his friend struggle to regain control.

This wasn't the first time Jack had spun out, and it was only a matter of time before he had his Duel Runner back under control. "I'm fine Yusei," Jack said as the white Duel Runner leveled off, the Wings Signer skillfully guiding his Runner through the tumultuous attack.
Draco growled in frustration. "That little stunt may have saved you for the turn, but you can't last much longer. I end my turn!"

"So Jack used that Trap to reduce the damage taken in order to keep Fiendish Chain active," Yugi noted. "He took some damage to avoid defeat."
"Jack's always been a great Duelist," Leo said simply, "Although I'm not sure how he's going to get out of this one."
Kaiba watched the Duel, intrigued. Jack Atlas had intrigued him, ever since their first prideful clash of wits. He was curious as to how this man Dueled. So far, while he was on the back foot, he seemed to Duel with a heavy emphasis of power. It reminded him of himself, in a way. 'Perhaps we aren't as different as we think. So how are you going to comeback from this? Show me what you're made of!'

"My turn then!" Jack said as he drew a card. He had two cards in his hand, so he was going to have to hang on for now.

'I need more power!' Jack thought to himself. 'But how? Red Dragon Archfiend failed to stop that Dragon Ruler of Abyss. I've sealed it for now, but if Draco uses that effect of Speed World 2 again, I could be in trouble.' The Wings Signer glanced at Draco's Runner ahead of him. 'What can I do to gain more power?'
A little voice seemed to manifest in his head, though to Jack it seemed rather preposterous. "The Crimson Devil can grant you the power you seek." It sounded cunning, as if it were on the verge of being deceptive, but at the same time it was beckoning to him.
"Who said that?" Jack asked, bewildered. He glanced around, trying to identify the speaker.
"Who said what Jack?" Draco asked mockingly. "Or have you finally snapped in the face of defeat?"
"Jack Atlas doesn't break under pressure," the Former Turbo King shot back, though a part of him was unsettled by that voice he had heard. Still, he had to make a move. "I Summon the Clock Resonator Tuner Monster in Defense mode!" A small little fiend carrying a large clock on its back appeared next to Jack's Runner, floating in between the two Dragon Rulers and Jack.
Clock Resonator: Atk 1200, Def 600, LV 3
"With that, I end my turn," Jack announced, a hint of regret in his tone. With that announcement, the Dragon Ruler of Storms flew into the heavens, a final roar echoing across the sky.
"A pity that my Dragon Ruler of Storms had to leave," Draco said with a hint of regret, "But with great power such as these Dragon Rulers comes such drawbacks. No matter, it's my turn and I will use it to crush you!" He drew a card from his Deck and grinned.

"I play my facedown," Draco announced, "Decree of the Dragon Rulers!"
"What on earth?" Jack exclaimed as the ground began to rumble once more. This Duel had been very taxing on him mentally, from constantly having to make sure he didn't crash and dealing with Draco's new tricks.
"Just let me handle it," the voice said, echoing in his mind again, "And I can grant you the power you seek."
"Get out of my head!" Jack growled, quietly so as not to let Draco think he was crazy.
Yusei followed the Duel, though he had a very bad feeling about this. There was something in the air, something that felt familiar, but at the same time very dangerous. He blinked as it appeared momentarily, appearing to whisper something in Jack's ear. What it was, Yusei wasn't sure. It looked humanoid, but the fact that its body seemed to be made up of flames convinced Yusei that it was anything but. Maybe that was what had prompted Jack's seemingly random outburst earlier. "Jack! There's something going on here!"
"Yeah," Jack shot back, irritation creeping through, "A Duel!"
"No!" Yusei's concern only grew now that Jack was brushing him off. "There's something far more dangerous to this Duel than what we thought!"
Draco laughed. "That's because we aren't holding back anymore! Decree of the Dragon Rulers allows me to Special Summon 2 Dragon Rulers directly from my Hand and any Trap you thought of using to counter this Trap is negated!" Twin beams of light zipped out from Draco's Runner and created portals in the sky. "Not only that, but their special abilities are negated, meaning they can stay on the field for longer than one turn!"
"They what?!" Jack exploded. Once again, the voice appeared in his head, but he ignored it completely. He had more important things to worry about.
"Say hello to Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos and Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls!" Draco announced. From the left portal, a large blue dragon whose scales seemed to flow like the water he was named after appeared in a burst of water droplets, causing a brief drizzle the two Duelists had to ride through. The right portal was much more explosive, erupting skywards like a volcano. Jack winced as pumice began to rain down, causing cosmetic damage to his Runner and actual pain to Jack when it struck his hand.
"I can help you stop this pain, this suffering," the voice said again to Jack. He ignored the voice again, watching as the lava that had erupted from the portal coalesced together, forming a black and red dragon who seemed to have lava flowing through his veins, not blood. His claws glowed a brilliant yellow with the heat he was emanating as both Dragon Rulers roared to announce their arrival.
Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos: Atk 2800, Def 1800, LV 7
Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls: Atk 2600, Def 2000, LV 7
"Now it's time for my Dragons to finish you off Jack!" Draco shouted. "Tidal, attack!" The Water Dragon Ruler roared as it began to fly towards Jack's single monster.
Satellite High Rise
"This isn't good!" Leo shouted in a near panic. "Jack's only got one monster left!"
"Even with Necro chained up, Draco's has enough monsters to overwhelm Jack's defenses," Luna added, fear in her voice. If Jack was losing this badly because these people weren't holding back, then the Chaos Movement was getting that much more dangerous. She was glad to have discovered her Majestic Dragon in her battle against Hueso, but she wasn't sure how the Majestic Red Dragon could save Jack here.
"I believe in Jack," Akiza said simply. "He's been in tight spots before."
Yugi nodded. "All we can do is support Jack and have faith that he'll come through." Kaiba rolled his eyes, but said nothing. It was up to those two Duelists, and unless that last facedown of Jack's could stop a direct attack, then it was over. Plain and simple.
The Crow's Nest
Crow winced as his Mark of the Crimson Dragon throbbed. Jack's Duel had taken a turn for the worse, apparently. He glanced out the window of his messed up hideout. It had taken a while for the tear gas to clear out enough that they could enter, though the place still reeked of the gas. It had stung at their eyes, which was why it was only him and Dani in his hideout right now, gathering what they needed to keep the kids occupied until Blister could arrive and take the kids to Martha's. "Jack better pick up the pace if he wants to win this Duel."
That earlier wince didn't go unnoticed. Dani's sharp blue eyes may have been fighting back tears from the residual gas, but she didn't miss much regardless, even as she bagged up some snacks for the younger ones, snacks that hadn't been touched by the gas. "You okay Crow?" Her mind had been racing since the Duel with Thomas and Allana, in regards to Crow and the rest of his Signer friends. They truly were a selfless bunch. She could hear it again in her mind.
"I won't let you hurt her! I activate my Trap, Life Exchange!" Crow shouted
"Life Exchange?" Thomas repeated, curiosity in his tone.
"That's right, now if someone's Life Points are going to change due to a card effect, I become the new target of that effect!" Crow explained.
Dani could still see that grin on his face even as the massive fireball had engulfed him. How Crow had been so calm that close to death was a mystery to Dani. Yet he'd kept on going, dodging attacks from both those Chaos Movement minions, even having an answer to the Judgement Dragon's ability to destroy every card on the field. He was certainly an amazing Duelist, and he even had an awesome dragon now. Yet a part of her, the part that was scared to be abandoned again, held her back.
Crow was oblivious to her internal debate as he grasped the Tail Mark on his right arm. "I'm fine, but Jack's in some serious trouble."
"So why does your arm start hurting when someone's in trouble?" Dani asked, to which Crow shrugged.
"I'm still kinda new to all this Signer business myself," Crow admitted, "But that seems to be the gist of how this works. I just hope Jack gets it together. No matter how much of a blockhead he is, he's still one of my closest friends."
"I know what it's like to lose a close friend," Dani began quietly. Bad memories were resurfacing, memories that Dani clamped down on before they could cause too much pain. "I don't want you to know that pain."
Crow put a hand on her shoulder reassuringly. "Trust me Dani, I know that pain. When the Dark Signers released that black mist onto the Satellite, it took all those kids with it. I thought I had lost them forever." He clenched his left hand into a fist, both in anger at what the Dark Signers had done and in pain as his Mark throbbed once more. "The worst part was coming back to the empty hideout…"
The female Blue-Eyes Duelist was stunned. "But…how? Even Kibo?"
Crow nodded. "I'll admit, I hadn't found her yet, but I'm pretty sure she got caught up in that mist as well. It trapped their souls and used them as fuel to power those Earthbound Immortals."
Dani felt anger well up inside of her, even though she knew that insanity had ended nearly two months ago. Her maternal instincts were still young, but she was still mad that someone had harmed little Kibo. "Well then I'm glad you guys kicked those Dark Signer butts back to the Netherworld."
"You and me both," Crow agreed, gathering the various Decks he had stolen from Sector Security. It pained him to admit it, but his children were probably safer at Martha's, especially since he was moving to the city with Yusei and Jack to get ready for the WRGP. Yusei had apparently found someone willing to let them crash for the nights as they prepared for the biggest Turbo Duel tournament ever. He considered asking if Dani would be willing to stay with the kids in this hideout, but he'd known her long enough to know she wouldn't stay out of a fight. Either way, the Tail Signer was looking forward to spending more time with her.
Dani frowned as she thought back to those dark few days. She remembered full well the absolute insanity running around the Satellite just a couple months prior. All the dark clouds, the crazy Earthbound Immortals, everybody disappearing. While she was used to being alone, Dani recalled being creeped out by how…quiet the Satellite had been. "So, Crow, care to explain why I wasn't taken by the black fog? I don't get it, you make it out like it was this all-powerful threat that you guys barely took down, but then why wasn't I swept up like your kids?" She was confused that someone like her was somehow spared.
"Well I hid in a fridge to escape the mist," Crow answered with a shrug, "Before I became a Signer too, so did you do that?"
Dani shook her head, even more perplexed. "I was in the middle of a Duel with this one guy, his name was Shane. Had this odd trench coat, like he was some sort of private eye. Anyways, his Wattaildragon was about to come after my Azure-Eyes when the black fog you keep mentioning came through the street. I thought it was just some smog let loose from one of the factories. Yet when the cloud passed, I was all alone."
Crow was very intrigued by this bit of news. "So you're saying something protected you?"
Dani shrugged. "I was hoping you could tell me. I thought it was no big deal at first until these Earthbound Immortals started popping up. What does it all mean?"
Crow glanced at her arm, looking for any telltales signs of a mark. "You don't have any hidden mark of the Crimson Dragon, do you?"
Dani smirked at the thought. "I have a small brown birthmark on my thigh, but it's not some crazy mark of the Crimson Dragon or anything."
"Well, I don't know what happened back then," Crow said as he scratched his head. "Maybe because you carry Blue-Eyes White Dragons, they protect you somehow."
Dani stopped to consider that as she pulled out one of the Blue-Eyes in question. She looked at the card, then back to Crow, meeting his grey eyes, then back to her card. "I always knew my Blue-Eyes were powerful, but I didn't think they could do stuff like that."
"Well they are dragons of light," Crow said as he pointed at the light kanji on the card. "And light is always strong against the darkness. Maybe your dragons are why you made it out without getting sucked up into an Immortal." Any further conversation was interrupted by the sound of a bus arriving outside. "Sounds like Blister's here."
"Who's this Blister guy?" Dani asked as she followed Crow towards the exit, a large bag of snacks for the kids on her back.
"He's a guy who helped Yusei get to New Domino City for the Fortune Cup," Crow explained, "He's a bit of a gambler, a scoundrel if you will. You'd like him."
"Nice," Dani said simply as she beheld an old school bus parked right by Crow's hideout. It had definitely seen better days, but it was obviously still serviceable. The kids were sitting a few yards away, watching Taiga and Daichi have a friendly Duel. The female Blue-Eyes Duelist watched as an unkempt man in an equally shabby-looking outfit made his way down the steps of the bus, grinning when he saw Crow.
"How's it been Crow?" Blister asked, "I came as soon as I got your call, looks like they really did a number on you guys."
"Yeah, well, you should see the other guys," Crow said. "I've got a friend I want you to meet."
Blister noticed Dani hanging back, unsure of what to do in this exchange. He let out a low whistle. "Hello, what have we here?"
Dani rolled her eyes. Being an attractive young female, this wasn't the first time she'd heard such a response. "I should've figured he'd be so scruffy looking."
Blister adopted a look of wounded pride. "Who's scruffy looking? Certainly not me! I didn't catch your name…"
"Dani," she said simply as she felt the familiar tugging at her jeans. Without even looking away from Blister, she scooped up little Kibo.
"She's my Mommy!" Kibo told Blister proudly.
"Is she now?" Blister said, raising an eyebrow. He glanced at Crow. "Didn't realize you were offering day care services now Crow."
The Tail Signer rubbed the back of his head. "It's a little more complicated than that. But thanks for coming out man. I need someone to look after these guys."
"Yeah, well from what I hear, you weren't the only guys who were attacked today," Blister said, "Apparently Martha's placed got attacked by a bunch of zombies."
"They what?!" Crow shouted as Dani cringed, her phobia causing her to shiver uncontrollably.
"What's wrong Mommy?" Kibo asked, hugging Dani. She didn't like seeing her Mommy that scared.
Dani met Kibo's blue eyes with a pained smile. "Sweetie, even Mommy gets scared by a few things."
Kibo was confused as to why her mommy would be scared by something she didn't really know about. "But you have Asimi to help you!"
"Just because I have my dragons doesn't make them less scary."
"Are they alright?" Crow asked Blister hurriedly, feeling another pulse of pain from his arm, "I know Yusei is alright, but what about the orphanage?"
"It's a little banged up, but it should be fine," Blister said reassuringly, "Martha said that Luna saved them by taking out the source of the zombies, as hard as that sounds to believe."
"Oh I believe it alright," Crow said, "Just so long as the orphanage is still alright. I'd hate to move these guys out only to find out they'd be better off staying here."
"You better come visit us!" Kokoro said from behind Dani, startling everyone. "You're fun to play with Crow!" The rest of Crow's little nerds followed her, adding to the crowd.
Crow chuckled as he knelt down to Kokoro, ruffling her hair. "Come on, have I ever let you down before? You guys just need to be good for Martha, okay? Don't let me hear you getting into trouble from her, alright?"
Kokoro nodded. "I'll be good. I'm not sure about the boys, but I know I'll be good."
Taiga was indignant. "Hey! I can be good if I want to!"
"That's all I can ask from you," Crow said, fighting back pain as his arm throbbed again. He didn't want to show his pain to the kids. "Now get on board and listen to Blister. He'll let me know if you guys misbehave."
"You got it Crow!" came the chorus of agreements from all the little nerds. One by one they ran forward and hugged Crow before stepping onto the bus.
Kokoro and Hikari were the only two who also ran up to Dani, who was using her free hand to rub her arm, trying to get rid of the shivers from the mention of undead. She was startled from her attempt to overcome her phobia when both young girls gave her a hug as well. "We hope we'll see you again soon Dani! You're really nice!" Hikari said.
"Yeah, and Crow really likes you!" Kokoro said, getting a blush from Dani. The two little girls giggled as they slipped the bag of snacks off Dani's back and ran onto the bus.
Dani smirked as she watched them get settled on the bus. "Maybe so…"
"What's up Mommy?" Kibo asked, leaning into Dani.
"It's no big deal Kibo," Dani answered, tapping Kibo on her nose and getting a giggle out of the three-year-old "Just big girl things." Kibo seemed satisfied with that. Dani took a deep breath. "Kibo, you know that you're going to have to get on that bus too."
"But I wanna stay with you!" came the expected response.
"I know Kibo, but do you remember those bad guys that came by earlier?" Dani asked her adoptive daughter. Kibo nodded, putting her thumb in her mouth. "Well Mommy is going to help Crow go fight these bad guys so that they won't ever bother us again."
Kibo seemed to consider that, looking adorable as the three-year-old thought hard about what her adoptive mother meant. She finally seemed to reach a decision and smiled. "Okay Mommy! I'll see you soon, right?"
"Of course Kibo," Dani said as Kibo hugged her tight. "You're my daughter now. I'll be back for you as soon as I'm done kicking these Chaos Movement…" she caught herself before she could call the members of the Chaos Movement something a three-year-old should definitely not hear. "baddies' tails." She carried Kibo onto the bus and set her down next to Hikari and Kokoro. "Be good for me Kibo."
The female Blue-Eyes Duelist was greeted by a grinning Crow as she stepped off the bus. "So, who knew you had such a way with kids?"
Dani smiled awkwardly. "I guess I've always had that way. I just didn't know I'd be getting a daughter when I asked to come with you to this hideout."
"I'm just glad someone finally got through to Kibo," Crow said as Blister started the bus again "It was a bit weird how quiet she had been before you came along." The two teens watched the bus drive off, the kids waving goodbye to Crow.
"I know Kibo's pain of losing her real mother," Dani said quietly, "She's lucky you found her Crow. It's really sweet of you to do what you do for these kids." She put her hand on Crow's shoulder. "Perhaps there's more to you than meets the eye. Now let's get back to Yusei and the others."
Crow grinned. "You took the words out of my mouth."
Satellite Highway
"Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls, take out his Clock Resonator with your Hydro Cannon attack!" Draco shouted. "Now watch as your last monster is destroyed before I take out the rest of your Life Points!" Victory was within his grasp. With Fiendish Chain actually allowing him to keep his Dragon Ruler of Darkness on the field, he had a permanent wall and he was free to bring as many dragons out as possible without worrying about being left without a defense of some sorts. With Decree of the Dragon Rulers on the field though, he didn't have to worry about his other two dragons leaving the field unless it was destroyed. The Ruler of Dragons watched as the Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls swooped towards Clock Resonator and fired a brilliant blue ball of watery energy at the tiny Clock Resonator.
To Draco's surprise, the little fiend turned around and let the clock on his back take the blow. Water exploded everywhere, dousing the Resonator and the battlefield. The Duel Runners skipped across the top of the water, and Draco was glad to be on a straight path on this part of the Turbo Duel, as the risk of hydroplaning out of control on a curve was too great to chance. When the water was left behind, Draco saw that the Clock Resonator was still floating alongside the former Turbo King's Runner, albeit with a cracked clock on its back. "What the hell?"
"Didn't you know that Clock Resonator has a special ability?" Jack asked rhetorically. "Once per turn, Clock Resonator can prevent a Defense position monster from being destroyed in battle, including itself."
Draco growled in frustration. "Fine. But can he defend against Blaster's Inferno Eruption Blast?" The Dragon Ruler of Infernos bellowed a challenge and launched a ball of lava that consumed the Clock Resonator in a fiery eruption that buffeted Jack with waves of heat.
Despite Jack's groan of pain, he could hear that damn voice again. "You're running out of time. All you need to do is give yourself to the Crimson Devil and you can attain the ultimate power."
Jack was getting very annoyed with this voice. A flicker of orange caught his eye, but when he glanced to his left, there was nothing but the teal flames of the Turbo Duel pathway. "Just how could you help?"
"It's simple. Just let me take control of your body, and you'll have power like you've never had before," the voice said with a small chuckle.
"Just who are you?" Jack demanded. "You think you have more power than my blazing hot spirit?"
"I am but a servant of the Crimson Devil," the voice said and once more, Jack thought he saw something orange flicker in the corner of his eye. "and my master told me you are not strong enough. So he is willing to make you a deal."
"I don't make deals with devils," Jack shot back, looking straight ahead. He then felt sluggish all of a sudden. The world seemed to fade away, darkness narrowing his vision. It was almost as if someone else was at the controls.
"A deal with the devil would be the only way to defeat me now Atlas!" Draco said confidently, not concerned at all. When you work for the Master, glowing eyes were not a concern to him. He figured it was just some trick of the Crimson Dragon. The Ruler of Dragons was looking forward to seeing what this god-like dragon would do to try and save his Signer. "I end my turn!"
Yusei noticed Jack's sudden start and pulled up beside him. "Jack!" When that failed to get his attention, Yusei looked at his friend. He was startled to see Jack's purple eyes glowing a yellow color. "What's this? Jack!" Jack turned his head to look at Yusei, though he wasn't sure why it took such an effort. He saw the concern and fear on Yusei's face and wondered what was up. He tried to speak, but couldn't. It was weird.
Yusei was getting a worse and worse feeling about this. It was one thing for Jack to talk to something that he couldn't see. That could be explained by a Duel Spirit that didn't want to be seen by the others. This was something far more dangerous. "Jack! Say something man! Your eyes!"
Jack couldn't see his eyes, but given how odd he was feeling, he knew something was wrong. He couldn't speak out loud, but he could definitely think. "What's wrong with my eyes?"
The voice chose that moment to speak up once more. "I just decided to take control. You need a little persuasion, but trust me when I say you'll love the power the Crimson Devil can give you."
Jack was infuriated. "I don't need your help!" His voice echoed around in his mind, almost as if it was mocking him. "My fiery soul can take this joker! I don't need you to take him down!"
The voice laughed. "It doesn't matter. All I need is your body. I couldn't care less about your soul." A flare of orange flames erupted in Jack's vision. He blinked several times to see that a small humanoid being composed entirely of flames had appeared in his mind. It was like a little demon, a small flaming tail flicking behind him impatiently.
Jack's arm burned as his rage grew. "You should care! My soul will keep on burning! You want to use me and my friends? I won't let you! My soul will not let you take my body so easily!" He brought his right arm across his chest, over his heart and clenched it into a fist.
The little flame demon was surprised that his body mirrored the motion. "What?! Why is my control slipping?!"
A dangerous red glow appeared in Jack's fist. With a shout, he fought against the mental shackles of the Crimson Devil. The Wings Mark of the Crimson Dragon on his arm began to glow ever more fiercely. "My very soul will return to the field!" He clenched his fist even tighter, flames beginning to grow around his hand.
"It cannot be!" the little demon cried as Jack threw off the control of the Crimson Devil with a surge of willpower.
"It's my turn!" Jack shouted, drawing a card with his right hand, flames dancing around the card but not damaging it at all.
"Jack!" Yusei shouted. The yellow glow in Jack's eyes was gone, but the flames concerned him. There was a high-pitched roar and the translucent image of the Crimson Dragon appeared above Jack's Runner.

Yusei once more was surprised. "What's the Crimson Dragon doing here?!"
Satellite High Rise
"What's going on?!" Akiza asked to nobody in particular as she watched what was happening on the dashboard screen.
"Your guess is as good as mine," Yugi said, watching the Duel in fascination. "Something tells me this isn't what normally happens in Turbo Duels."
"It's been normal for Yusei lately," Leo said, "What with all the Dark Signers, the Fortune Cup, it's been crazy!"
"What's Jack doing?" Luna asked quietly, eyes wide as Jack's flaming hand appeared on screen.
"Is this something involving the lore of the Crimson Dragon?" Yugi asked as the dragon god appeared.

"Now I activate the Trap card Descending Lost Star!" Jack shouted as the purple card flipped upright. "Now I can bring back a Synchro monster from my Graveyard in Defense mode! Return to me, my very soul! Red Dragon Archfiend!" Flames swirled behind Jack's Runner, growing in size and intensity until it formed into the shape of Jack's ace monster. The flames became scales as the red and black dragon appeared once more, holding his wings in front of him defensively.
Red Demon's Dragon: Atk 3000, Def 2000, LV 8
"The only stipulation with using Descending Lost Star is that the revived Synchro monster's Defense points drop to zero, it's level decreased by one, it's effects are negated and it cannot change battle position," Jack explained.
Red Dragon Archfiend: Def 0, LV 7
Draco grinned. "Why bother then? My Dragon Rulers are going to feast upon a zero defense point monster." He looked up at the Crimson Dragon. "Quetzalcoatl, you cannot save your Signer from destruction!" In response, the Crimson Dragon roared again, bathing Jack in a crimson glow. It flowed over him, raging like aura gone wild.
Jack placed his arm over his heart once more. "I can feel it! My blazing soul!" He looked at the card he drew and smirked. He knew what to do, he didn't know how, he just knew. "Now it's time to show you the true ruler of dragons! Since I have a Synchro Monster on my field, I can now Special Summon the Tuner monster Synkron Resonator from my hand to the field!" A little fiend similar to all the other Resonators Jack had summoned appeared, this one with a weird yellow and green symbol on his back.
Synkron Resonator: Atk 100, Def 100, LV 1
"Beef up your defenses all you want!" Draco challenged, "It matters not!"
"If only you were so lucky," Jack growled. "Now by using that Decree of the Dragon Rulers as bait, I can Special Summon Trap Eater to the field as well!" A dark purple monster with a big mouth appeared underneath Draco's Trap and swallowed it whole, floating over the Jack's side of the field. A purple aura appeared around Tidal and Blaster, the two Dragon Rulers roaring in pain.
Trap Eater: Atk 1900, Def 1600, LV 4
The Ruler of Dragons was not amused. "When you destroyed my Decree of the Dragon Rulers, both of the dragons Summoned with this card's effect are returned to my Deck immediately." True to his word, Blaster appeared to dissolved back into lava while Tidal dissolved into water, zipping back to Draco's deck and leaving only the chained up Necro on the field.
"That is but a small bonus compared to what I'm about to do," Jack announced. "Level four Trap Eater and level one Synkron Resonator, Double Tune with my now level seven Red Dragon Archfiend!"
"Hold on, Double Tuning?!" Draco repeated, spinning his Runner around to face Jack. "Just what are you doing?" Trap Eater burst out into four fiery rings and Synkron Resonator turned into another fiery ring that the Red Dragon Archfiend flew into.
"Is there even a Synchro monster like that?!" Yusei asked, watching the proceedings in awe. The Crimson Dragon roared once more, pouring his power into Jack.
"HELP!" the little demon in Jack's head shouted before the Wings Signer held up his hand, a card forming in it. The demon was sucked into the card, along with several tendrils of red energy. The fiery rings surrounding Red Dragon Archfiend began to circle around it, creating an orb of blazing energy.
Jack began chanting, though it sounded almost distant to him. It wasn't as though the little fire demon was controlling him anymore. This felt more like the Crimson Dragon's doing. "The Ruler and the Devil will now become one with the wild soul and shake the heavens!" More flames erupted around Jack's Runner as Red Dragon Archfiend disappeared within the fire.
"Impossible!" Draco gasped as he watched the transformation. He knew about Majestic Red Dragon, but he didn't know that the Red Dragon Archfiend could evolve even further, not like this.
"Synchro Summon!" Jack shouted, holding the glowing red card high in his hand. "Come before me! Red Nova Dragon!" The orb of fire floating above Jack's Runner, though below the Crimson Dragon, exploded, revealing the new Dragon.
Yusei saw this new dragon, and it reminded him of the Earthbound Immortals, as though one of them had merged with the Red Dragon Archfiend. "That's incredible!"

Chaos Movement HQ
The Master watched these proceedings, very curious. "Now how is it that you got a card that you aren't supposed to get for another year, Jack Atlas? Could that damn Crimson Dragon be altering time like I am to give you that precious edge it thinks you need?" He closed his multi-colored eyes and grinned. "No matter, for I have seen the future, a future where Yusei Fudo will die when he teams up with little Yugi, and once the head is gone, the rest of the body will soon fall and the world will belong to me! hehehehehehehehehaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!"
Satellite Highway
"Red Nova Dragon's ability activates!" Jack shouted, throwing the new card on his Runner's Duel zone. "For each Tuner Monster in my Graveyard it gains 500 Attack points!"
Draco realized just how many Tuner's he'd sent to the Grave and swallowed nervously. "That's not good!"
"It most certainly isn't for you!" Jack declared. "I have six Tuner monsters in my Graveyard; Dark Resonator, Red Resonator, Force Resonator, Clock Resonator, Trap Eater, and Synkron Resonator. So that's an extra 3000 Attack points for my mighty Red Nova Dragon!" The mentioned Tuners appeared behind the Red Nova Dragon, turning yellow orbs that flew into the blue gem on Red Nova Dragon's chest. The Signer Dragon/Earthbound Immortal hybrid roared as it felt the strength flowing through its veins.
Red Nova Dragon: Atk 6500
"I can still survive to take you out next turn!" Draco declared, looking at the Speed Spells in his hand. "Speed World 2 will finish you!"
"I disagree," Jack countered, playing his last card. "I activate the Speed Spell Half Seize! Since I have 3 or more Speed Counters, half of your monster's attack points are deducted from it and added to my Life Points!" A green aura appeared around the Dragon Ruler of Abyss, weakening the once mighty dark dragon.
Necro, Dragon Ruler of Abyss: Atk 1500
"Necro no!" Draco shouted, watching his last chance slip away. The green aura from Necro zipped over to Jack, healing his wounds and restoring his energy.
Jack LP: 3300
"Now Red Nova Dragon, attack Necro, Dragon Ruler of Abyss!" Jack commanded. "BURNING SOUL!" Flames grew around the dragon's form, engulfing him in fire as the Red Nova Dragon flew towards Necro. The dark dragon tried to fight back, but the power of the Red Nova Dragon was far too great for Necro. The Dragon Ruler of Abyss dissolved in the flames, which washed over Draco's Runner. The Chaos Movement peon roared in pain as his Life Points were burned away by the raw power of Red Nova Dragon.
Draco LP: 0
Draco's Runner began to burn off the excess steam caused by the loss, slowing down from the intense speeds of the earlier Duel. Still, Draco remained calm. He had a way out after a loss in a Turbo Duel. "That's insane!"
A voice chimed in his ear. Draco winced, scared, as he knew full well who it was. The Master's voice didn't sound disappointed, curiously enough. "Draco, get back to base. I don't blame you for this loss. I have something you'll need to defeat such a monster next time. Unlike Hueso, it's not your fault you lost this one."
"Understood Master," Draco said, relief creeping into his voice. After what had happened with Hueso, he was understandably scared. They knew the punishment for failure. The fact that he was off the hook was a major reprieve. He pressed several buttons on his Runner, activating the Turbo and doubling his speed, zipping out of sight of Jack and Yusei within seconds.
Jack slowed down to a stop, content to let Draco go and wanting to take in his newest monster. The Red Nova Dragon roared a victory roar before it began to dissolve. The card holding Red Nova Dragon also began to dissolve as the mightiest of the Red Dragon Archfiend's forms seemed to fade back into the earth. "Incredible," was all the Wings Signer could say.
"Jack!" Yusei shouted as he pulled up next to Jack. "How did you summon that dragon?"
"I don't know," Jack admitted, taking off his helmet. "It was almost as if I wasn't completely at the controls." The roar of the Crimson Dragon got his attention and both Signers watched as the dragon god flew off into the clouds. "Maybe the Crimson Dragon decided to give me that Nova card to survive this Duel."
"Maybe," Yusei agreed, "But that little fire spirit, I'm not so sure that was a Crimson Dragon thing."
"It wasn't," Jack said. "I don't know what this Crimson Devil is, but I'm sure I can handle it if that's all he had to offer me."
"We should get back to the others," Yusei said, revving his engine. "We need to regroup before taking the fight to the Master."
Satellite High Rise
"That was incredible!" Yugi said, "You weren't kidding when you said Turbo Duels were intense!"
Kaiba was deep in thought. This was definitely a concept of Dueling he approved of. He resolved to get a copy of a blueprint for these Momentum engines, either before or after taking out the Master, to get Kaibacorp's technicians working on such a device. Not only that, but this Jack Atlas. He was certainly someone to keep an eye on. Whether or not this Burning Soul of his was a legitimate strategy or not was something he decided to leave for later. He knew he could take Jack Atlas though. Kaiba smirked as he pictured his victory. If Jack messed with him once more, he'd have to put him in his place.
B.A.D.
Thomas couldn't breathe properly. Allana hadn't woken up yet, not since she'd fallen unconscious at the hand of the Black Winged Dragon. He knew that the Master was going to punish failures and punish them severely. But Allana was still alive, unlike Hueso. He could feel her pulse. So he pulled over in the B.A.D. by the hideout and was tending to Allana. Her head rested in his lap as he held her, mentally begging for her to wake up.
"Come on Allana, say something, anything!" Thomas begged.
As if on cue, Allana stirred. "Thomas," she groaned, as if she were coming out of a deep sleep. "Is that you?"
"Allana!" Thomas nearly shouted in relief. "You're alright."
"Could you turn down the lights?" Allana asked, "It's so bright…"
Thomas' relief turned to worry once again. "But you have your eyes shut!"
Confusion was written all over Allana's face. "Then why is everything so white?" She slowly opened her eyes, which caused Thomas to gasp. Her pupils, her cornea, her beautiful brown eyes, they were gone. All he could see was the whites of her eyes. It was as if her eyes had been wiped blank.
"What did he do to you?" Thomas growled, wiping away a tear.
"Thomas, I'm scared," Allana said, feeling up his body until she could hug him properly.
"Thomas, I value your skills as a Duelist," the Master's voice said as he established a connection with the Black Dragon Duel Runner. "But two losses in two days is not acceptable. As is such, your girlfriend is paying the price for your failure."
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!" Thomas roared, his anger getting the better of him.
"She will be unable to see for as long as I see fit. Fail me again, and I will ensure she never regains her eyesight," the Master said, his tone deadly serious. "And you best watch your tone with me boy. Not when I hold your girlfriend's very sanity in my hands. Just think about it Thomas, what'll cause you to go crazy sooner, crushing darkness or blinding light? You don't mess with a being of my power." The Master ended the connection with an ominous chuckle.
Thomas turned back to his beloved, concern etched into his face. "Allana, you have to stay strong! You can't give in to the Master!"
"As long as I know you are there for me," Allana murmured, fear in her tone, but also a calmness that Thomas wished he could attain. It was one reason why he loved her. "I will persevere. Now do what you know must be done."
"I'll take you back to the hideout," Thomas said, glancing up at the grey skies above. "And then I'm going to make those Signers wish they'd never messed with the Chaos Movement." He gave Allana a kiss on her cheek before starting the Black Dragon again, zooming off into the distance. His rage made his blood run hot, but the latest master of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon knew how to channel that anger into results.
Chaos Movement HQ, the Master's Lair
The leader of the Chaos Movement smiled as he watched Thomas ride off. Time to give his minions that kick in the ass they needed. He was looking forward to this evening. "Heads are gonna roll if I don't get results soon. I gave you power, I can use that power against you," he said, more to himself than to anyone else, given that he was all alone in the chaotic miasma that took up his chambers. "Oooo boy, Thomas, you are a fun project to work with. Let's see how much more I can make you squirm. Not as much as these Signers will be squirming, that's for sure. The time is almost at hand. Hehehehehehehe. HehehehAHAHAHAHAHAH! AHHHHA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA HA HA HAA!"
Ominous foreshadowing is ominous. Still, I feel I gave Jack the proper treatment with the Crimson Devil and the summoning of Red Nova Dragon. I'm still trying to stay loyal to the original canon as possible, but fanfiction is where we can take certain artistic liberties at times. Took some time for some exposition between Dani and Crow, also explaining how he moved his nerds to Martha's. Regardless, hope you all enjoyed the chapter!
Question for the chapter: After much review of Yugioh 5D's, I noticed that Shooting Star Dragon was only summoned during Turbo Duels. This begs the question do you think Yusei could Accel Synchro in a ground Duel? It's implied that speed is needed for the Synchro, but why not just need the Clear Mind on the ground? Let me know what you guys think!
Response to Guest Reviews (in order with which they reviewed)
Guest 2: Glad you enjoyed it
Guest 2: Glad you enjoyed it
Guest (who reviewed at chapter 9): Well, if you kept reading, you'd see a Majestic Fairy Dragon in the later chapters
Hunter: Glad you enjoyed it! Black Winged Dragon didn't get as much love as it probably should have, not getting an evolved form through something similar to Yusei's Accel Synchro and Jack's Burning Soul. Clear Mind, Burning Soul, perhaps I could make something like Clever Spirit or something for Crow in a later fanfic. I'm not sure what you mean by your questions though. If you're asking if I have plans to go to New Domino City, not at the moment. This is all happening in the Satellite. If you're asking about Arc-V, then I have no plans involving that or Zexal at the moment either.
Guest: A Majestic god dragon? Intriguing thought, though hard to pull off I'd imagine. Hmm.
