Friday, 2 weeks later
Joe hadn't heard from Taylor since she left that Sunday morning. He left a couple texts, a couple voice mails but nothing. It was kinda pissing him off, he was still interested in her but at this point he didn't have much hope and was just going to give up.
He got home for work at 6pm, cracked open a beer and sat on the couch in silence. Looking back at the texts he sent her. He started to type out another one but after thinking, erased it. He'd try and call her once more.
He stopped when he saw Kelsey's name and number in his contacts first. He clicked on her and decided to shoot her a text. He figured it was a long shot but you never know.
After he typed it he read it out loud a couple times not wanting to sound lonely or desperate.
"Hey, this is Joe, you wrote your number on my arm last Saturday night. Just wanted to see if you were busy tonight, we could get a drink or see a movie. Up to you, let me know."
He thought that sounded good and held his breath as he pushed send.
Literally 2 minutes later she responded back, suggested a movie and said she'd be ready to meet at the theater around 8.
Joe was excited and quick got a shower, and even put on his good cologne.
When he got to the theatre, he saw Kelsey right away, her blonde hair shined under the lights of the theatre sign. She was also wearing a leather jacket, and tight black jeans with rips in them. She didn't see him yet, he approached her.
"Hey."
"Oh hi!" She wasn't expecting him to just pop up out of nowhere.
"I was surprised you weren't busy tonight." He said.
"Why's that?"
"I don't know, you seemed like the type to go out with your friends every weekend."
"Oh not at all! Last week was random…I just got dumped so…they wanted to take me out…" she said not making eye contact much.
"Sorry to hear." He said and cleared his throat.
"Nah, it's all good. He was a dick." She said brushing it off.
"Fair enough…so should we head in?" He asked changing the subject.
"Yes!" She was enthusiastic.
Once they got inside they waited in line for snacks after they got there tickets.
"Get whatever you want." He told her as they got closer to it being there turn.
"I usually just get a small popcorn."
"A drink?" He asked.
"Yeah…a sprite." She said.
"What's your favorite candy?" He asked.
"I don't get candy. It's too expensive here." She said quietly.
"Well you don't have to worry about that tonight, what's your favorite candy?" He asked again as they walked up to the counter, it was their turn.
"M ." she told him just in time.
"We'll take a large popcorn, large sprite, and M please" he told the lady. She got it all, he paid and off they went to theater 4.
"You did not have to buy me all that! I'm not gonna eat all this popcorn." Kelsey said.
"Don't worry about it, I'll eat whatever you don't." He said and opened the door for her. They went and sat in the very last row in the corner.
They small talked up until the movie started. It was an action movie and very loud, there's no way they could've even talked a little bit during it. Joe took matters into his own hands and boldly put his arm around her, none of that acting like your yawning and stretching shit. He saw Kelsey smile on the corner of his eye.
Not much further into the movie was what felt like the longest sex scene of all time. Joe felt awkward, Kelsey felt awkward, it was not ideal.
Thankfully at the end of the movie it was nothing but a long kiss between two main characters. Once the credits started, the lights came up and everyone got up to leave.
Kelsey followed Joe down the steps and out of the theatre.
"It's early yet, wanna hangout at my place for a little? It's that building right there." He pointed down a block.
"Oh. Yeah sure." She was a little hesitant but agreed and they kept walking.
"So did you like it? The movie." He clarified.
"Yeah! I like action movies, I'm not into the sappy chick flicks." She told him, as they carried on down the street.
"Yeah, same. Although I did not see that one scene coming." Joe laughed.
"Ha, oh yeah me neither." She laughed about it too. Then no one was saying anything, all they heard were their footsteps.
"I don't hook up on the first date…" she told him nervously.
"That's not what this is." Joe said.
"Okay good." She sighed.
"I don't normally like doing that either, out of respect." He told her and continued to walk.
When they got to his floor, they turned the corner to his place and there sat Taylor on the floor, waiting for him to get home.
"Oh." Joe immediately panicked.
——
Oooooffff what does she want? Talk about awkward. 2 weeks of not hearing from Taylor and now she shows up, when Joe brings home a date!? Yikes.
