A month later
Thursday September 15th 2022
"See ya later," Joe kissed Taylor goodbye on the forehead while she brushed her teeth.
"Wait." She quick spit and said before he left.
"What?"
"Are you working the night?" She wondered.
"Probably, Danny likes to run the clock out of hours." He laughed.
"Oh your working with him?"
"Yeah, fun stuff…he's gonna have my ass if I'm late though. Love you."
"Love you too." She watched him leave.
——
Joe got to Danny's precinct right on time, he was in the middle of a phone call, so he sat and waited.
"Well I hope she feels better. You let me know if you need anything alright?" He said into the phone and then the call ended a few seconds later.
"Who's that?" Joe asked.
"Baez, baby's sick so looks like it's just you and me." He said shrugging.
"Oh, well that kinda sucks." Joe said.
"Yeah sick kids were never fun." Danny sorted through some folders he had pulled.
"No I meant that I'm stuck with just you all day." Joe said smiling.
"Gee thanks, don't worry I'm maxed out on over time, I'll get you back to your little girlfriend in time for dinner." He told him.
——
Couple hours later Danny and Joe were taking a late lunch break. Joes phone was buzzing in the cup holder of the car.
"My god answer it." Danny was annoyed at the back to back texts.
"I know sorry. She's home from work already." Joe said texting Taylor back. His eyes grew wide when a picture came through of her cleavage. Joe practically choked on his food and turned it upside down before Danny saw it.
"I'm gonna call and check in on Baez" he excused himself.
"Sounds good." He told him as he exited the car, He must've saw it…oops. Joe picked his phone back up and called Taylor right away before Danny came back.
"Helloooo." She answered playfully.
"Ha…what's that all about?" He laughed.
"You didn't like it?" She asked.
"Uh no I liked it baby, but I guess I gotta be careful leaving my phone around other people." He couldn't help but laugh more.
"Oh shit, did someone see it!?" She was mortified.
"Not sure, Danny might've saw a glance but I don't know, I didn't ask and I don't think he's gonna bring it up."
"That's so embarrassing!" She told him.
"It's all good, at least it wasn't you naked." He laughed, Danny was coming back to the car.
"I contemplated doing one of-" she started.
"No. Don't do that." He cut her off and Danny got back in the car. He tried to turn the volume down on his phone so he wouldn't hear her.
"Okayyy sorry." She told him.
"All good, I gotta run alright?" He tried to get her off the phone before she said something else embarrassing.
"When will you be done work?" She asked.
"Probably around dinner time or a little after."
"Aw okay…I wish you could come home right now and join me in the shower." Joe closed his eyes, started sweating, he switched the phone to the ear further from Danny and couldn't help but glance at him to see if he heard.
"Yeah okay love you too babe bye." He hung up on her.
"Remind me to wait outside until your done of the phone next time." Danny said and shook his head in disgust.
"Sorry." Was all Joe could say as he laughed at the super embarrassing and awkwardness.
"She living with you?" He asked trying to change the subject slightly.
"No. Just kinda bumping back and forth every few days." He said.
"Don't waste your money…" Danny said.
"What do you mean."
"Your both paying rent and not even spending time there to make it worth it I'm sure." He said.
"She lives in a lot more nicer place then me."
"So she's wasting more money." He asked.
"For sure." Joe nodded.
"Pick a place and move in together. Rents already money down the drain, mine as well save where you can."
"Uh it's been like 3 months." Joe reminded.
"Doesn't matter.
"What? Ha…what do you mean?!"
"You love each other. You'll get married, have beautiful kids, live happily ever after, the end." Danny said.
"And if we break up?"
"Do you think you two are gonna break up?" Danny questioned.
"No."
"Wanna marry her?" He went further.
"Pretty sure."
"There ya go. Stop wasting money, start saving cause weddings are expensive, so are kids, my votes on selling your place." Danny said very nonchalant and took a drink.
"You seem to have all the answers."
"I do. Ask my kids, and if Baez was here she'd agree too, she hates when I'm right but she knows I always am." He sipped his coffee again and looked out the window.
"Alright…so sell my studio and move in together…"
"Yup, besides it'll be good for you two, speed up this whole honeymoon stage or whatever that was earlier." He shook his head.
"Ha. I don't know…she's very-"
"Stop. I don't want to hear the end of that sentence." Danny cut him off.
"Sorry." Joe laughed.
"All I'm trying to say is, you only live once, live it up. Because you never know when your last day is." Danny said thinking about his late wife, and all the other family members that had passed. That hit Joe hard, he was deep in his thoughts the rest of the day.

Moving in together? Do you think it's a good idea? What will he decide to do? Leave your thoughts!
