Ch 2 New Adventures

Soon another month past and it was time for Vitani and Nuka to venture out on their own. Simba and Zira were nervous about their cub going out on their own. "Maybe I should go with them," Simba said, sounding really nervous.

"Oh Simba they'll be fine," Zira said, nuzzling her mate. "Kovu and Jasiri are going with them." Zira was referring to their good friends, Asha and Cala's cubs. Kovu was a six month old cub with a golden brown coat and light green eyes and Jasiri was a five month old rusty brown cub with dark brown eyes. Kovu was the son of Scar but his mother, Asha was forced into having Scar's cub and was even forced into naming him Scar. But the light gold lioness was completely loyal to Simba and Zira and Simba was willing to over look the fact that Kovu was Scar's son.

"Don't worry King Simba we'll keep a real good eye on them," Kovu said, approaching the group with Jasiri, Asha and Cala right behind him.

"I know you will Kovu," Simba said with a smile. "You and Jasiri have always been very responsible. It's just..." Simba trailed off, not wanting to scare the cubs by telling them about Nala.

"You don't want that crazy lioness Nala to attack Vitani and Nuka right?" Jasiri said. Simba blinked in surprise. "My mom told me all about her," the rusty brown lioness cub said, after noticing Simba's look..

"Well I'm glad she did," Zira piped up. "Its always good to be aware of the dangers. Wouldn't you agree Simba?" Zira looked at her mate when she said this part.

"Yes I do," Simba said with a nod. Just then Vitani and Nuka came bounding out of the cave.

"Daddy is it time to go?" Vitani asked, rubbing against Simba's front leg.

"Yeah is it Dad?" Nuka chimed in as he too weaved in and out of Simba's legs.

"Hmm not quite yet," Simba said, pulling his cubs close and nuzzling them. "We need to go over some rules here first.

"Aw man," the twins groaned.

"Aw Dad we don't need rules," Nuka said, rolling his ruby eyes.

"You most certainly do young lion," Zira said, coming onto the scene along with Simba's mother, Sarabi.

"Fine," Vitani grumbled, clearly unhappy with the delay.

"Your father used to hate all the rules too," Sarabi said with a chuckle. "But the rules are there to keep you safe."

"If you say so Grandma," Nuka grumbled. Sarabi let out another chuckle and licked her grandson's head. Nuka couldn't help but smile at his paternal grandmother

"Nuka your mother and I only want to keep you and your sister safe," Simba declared.

"Because we love you both and we don't want anything bad to happen to you," Zira finished. "Understand?"

"Yes Mom," the twins said together.

"Now first rule," Simba began. "You will both stay with Kovu and Jasiri at all times. Understand?"

"Yes Dad," the twins said together.

"Second rule," Zira said. "You will both not speak to any strangers."

"Yes Mom," the twins said.

"And lastly," Simba finished. "You will not go near the river."

"Yes Dad," the twins said.

"And above all have fun," Zira said, smiling at her children.

"I think we got it now," Nuka said.

"Can we please go now?" Vitani begged, looking up at her parents with pleading amber eyes.

"Alright you may go," Simba said with a slight chuckle. The twins let out cheers of joy and nuzzled their parents as they nuzzled their parents and raced down the side of Pride Rock with Kovu and Jasiri right behind them. As he watched his children leave Simba let out a sigh.

"What's wrong Simba?" Zira asked, nuzzling her mate.

"I just hope they'll be alright," Simba said softly.

"I know you're worried," Zira said, laying her head on Simba's red mane. "And so am I. But we have to trust that Kovu and Jasiri will look after our cubs."

"Yes but they're still just cubs themselves," Simba pointed out.

"Yes I'm aware," Zira said with a chuckle. "Would it make you feel better if I told you that I've sent Timon and Pumbaa to keep an eye on the cubs?"

"Yes," Simba said with a smile. "That does make me feel better. Thank you." With that Simba gave Zira a nuzzle, which she gladly returned. "Feel up for a walk?" the golden lion asked with a wink.

"I would love that," Zira said with a wink of her own. With that the King and Queen went to spend some quality time together.

TLKTLKTLK

Meanwhile in the Outlands Nala had received word that Vitani and Nuka were going out on their own. "Today's the day," the creamy lioness growled. "Kopa! Kiara! Come here now!" Within seconds Kopa and Kiara raced towards their mother.

"Yes Mother?" the brother and sister said.

"Get some food for Kion and I and be quick about it!" Nala growled.

"Yes Mother!" the siblings said, taking off to find some food.

"Kion!" Nala shouted. "Come here!"

"Yes Mother?" Kion said softly, coming onto the scene with Tama's daughter, Safara right behind him. Safara was a dark tan cub with dark blue eyes. She was the same age as Nuka and Vitani.

"Today is the day," Nala informed her youngest. "You and Safara know what to do right?"

"Yes Mother we do," Kion said with a nod.

"Good," Nala said, roughly rubbing Kion's head. Just then Kopa and Kiara returned with some small birds and lizards. Nala quickly snatched them away and divided them among Kion and herself. Kion looked over at his brother and sister, who were staring longingly at the food. Just then Sarafina cleared her throat slightly. Kion looked over at his grandmother, who moved her paw slightly to reveal a decent sized jackrabbit. Sarafina nodded towards Kopa and Kiara and Kion nodded slightly. Sarafina walked over to her granddaughter and oldest grandson and motioned for them to follow her. After making sure Nala wasn't watching the pair went over and gobbled down the jackrabbit. after eating Sarafina bent close to them.

"Go play," the creamy lioness whispered. "I'll cover for you."

"Thanks Grandma," Kopa said, as he and Kiara gave their grandmother a nuzzle. Sarafina smile as she watched them leave. But that smile quickly vanished when she heard Nala shout.

"Now go! And you had better not fail me!"

"We won't!" Kion and Safara said as they dashed into the Pride Lands. Nala watched the cubs go with an evil grin.

"I will have my revenge," she snarled. "Simba will rue the day he took Scar from me."

"Nala don't you think this has gone far enough?" Sarafina asked. Nala glared at her mother and began to speak. But Sarafina held up her paw and said, "You and Simba were best friends when you were cubs. You were devastated when you thought he had been killed."

"I was a foolish child then Mother," Nala hissed. "Scar made me see the truth. He was doing the right thing."

"By destroying the Pride Lands?" Sarafina asked.

"Scar was a great King!" Nala roared, startling Sarafina. "And I won't tolerate anyone saying otherwise! And that includes you Mother!"

"Nala," Sarafina began. But to her shock Nala let out a furious growl and struck Sarafina in her face, sending her to the ground. Sarafina's blue eyes widened as she watched her daughter walk away from her.

"This is my fault," Sarafina thought sadly. "If I had kept a better eye on her when she was younger then Scar would have never gotten a hold of her and brainwashed her into thinking he was right. But I will fix this. Even if I have to die to do it." With that Sarafina got to her feet and walked into the Pride Land to make sure nothing bad happened to her grandchildren.
