Ch 3 Making New "Friends"

Kion and Safara were walking in the Pride Lands and looking around in awe at the sheer beauty of them. "Wow," Kion breathed, his green eyes wide. "This place is really great."

"Yeah," Safara said, her blue eyes sparkling. "Its so beautiful here. I wonder..." But before she could continue she ran smack into a golden brown cub and went crashing to the ground with an 'oof'

"Safara!" Kion cried out, running over to his friend. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm ok," Safara said softly.

"Sorry about that," the golden brown cub said, helping Safara to her feet. "Are you sure you're ok?"

"Yeah I'm sure," Safara said. "Sorry I ran into you. I should really watch where I'm going." Just then a rusty brown cub came running over followed by two smaller cubs. One had a light gold coat and the other had a tan coat.

"Kovu what happened?" the rusty brown cub asked. Then she noticed Kion and Safara. "And who are these two?" she asked, her voice having a slight edge to it.

"Jasiri be nice," the light gold cub said, rolling his ruby eyes slightly.

"Jasiri's never nice Nuka," the tan coated cub said, also rolling her amber eyes.

"Shut up Vitani!" Jasiri growled.

"Make me Jasiri," Vitani growled back.

"Hey!" Kovu shouted, startling both Jasiri and Vitani. "Enough! You're embarrassing yourselves in front of strangers." Kovu nodded towards Kion and Safara when he said this part. Kion and Safara exchanged confused looks but neither cub said anything.

"So what's your names?" Vitani asked, going right up to Kion and getting really close to him.

"Uh I'm Kion," Kion said, taking a step backwards. "And this is my friend Safara."

"Well I'm Vitani," Vitani said with a smile. "And this is my brother: Nuka and our friends: Kovu and Jasiri."

"Nice to meet you all," Safara said with a smile.

"Kovu?" Kion asked, wrinkling his brow. "That means scar doesn't it? Are you related to King Scar?"

"Yes," Kovu said softly. "Unfortunately he was my father. But please don't hold that against me. I'm nothing like him I swear I'm not."

"What's wrong with being like Scar?" Kion asked with confusion.

"Are you kidding?" Jasiri asked. "He was a murderer! He killed his own brother for King's Sake!"

"That's not..." Kion began. But Safara nudged him hard and shook her head slightly. "I mean lets not talk about him," Kion said quickly.

"For real," Kovu said with a slight growl. Nuka and Vitani exchanged confused looks as they hadn't been told the full story of their murderous Great Uncle. But the young Prince and Princess decided not to say anything at the moment.

"Hey do you guys wanna play with us?" Vitani asked.

"Sure!" Kion said, his green eyes lighting up.

"Ah you guys go ahead," Jasiri said. "I'm getting bored. I'm going to do more exploring."

"Can I come with you?" Nuka asked. "I wanna see more of the Kingdom."

"Sure why not?" Jasiri said with a shrug.

"Can I come too?" Safara asked.

"Just don't slow us down," Jasiri said.

"Bye 'Tani!" Nuka called out as he, Safara and Jasiri went to explore some more.

"So what do you guys want to do now?" Kion asked.

"Well," Vitani began. "We could..." But the tan coated Princess stopped mid sentence when she saw Timon and Pumbaa heading towards them. "Oh great," she muttered, rolling her amber eyes.

"Oh hi there kiddos," Timon said, getting off Pumbaa's head.

"What are you guys doing here?" Vitani asked with a groan.

"Oh you know," Timon began, waving his hand. "Just searching for some grubs."

"But we weren't keeping an eye on you because we were asked to," Pumbaa said.

"Puh figures Daddy sent you guys after us," Vitani grumbled.

"For your information missy it your father didn't send us after you," Timon said, putting his hand on his hips once again.

"But that doesn't mean that it was your mother that asked us to keep an eye on you and your brother," Pumbaa chimed in.

"That's weird," Vitani said, wrinkling her brow. "Mom's usually the more chill one."

"Speaking of your brother," Timon said, looking around. "Where is Nuka anyway?"

"He went exploring," Vitani informed the meercat.

"By himself?" Timon asked.

"No," Vitani said, sounding a bit annoyed. "He went with Jasiri and a new cub we met named Safara."

"We should check on him," Timon said, getting back on Pumbaa's head. "Lets roll buddy." With that the meercat and warthog left. But little did they know they were heading in the wrong direction.

"Good I'm glad their gone," Kovu grumbled. "Lets get back to our playing." With that the cubs continued their game of tag.

TLKTLKTLK

Meanwhile Nuka was having a blast playing with Jasiri and Safara. The two month old was currently play wrestling with Safara while Jasiri was trying to catch a lizard. But the rusty brown cub was only five months old and wasn't a very good hunter. "Darn it!" she cried out as she missed the lizard once again and went crashing into a nearby rock. Nuka and Safara were to busy playing and laughing to notice. Jasiri got to her feet and let out a slight growl. "Hey!" she shouted, glaring at Nuka and Safara. But the two cubs payed her no attention. "Hey!" Jasiri shouted once again as she walked closer to the younger cubs. This got the attention of Nuka, who got off Safara and glared at Jasiri.

"What do you want Jasiri?" the light gold cub asked, sounding annoyed.

"You guys need to pipe down," the rusty brown cub said, sounding annoyed herself. "You're noisiness made me lose my kill."

"Uh I don't think that's what made you lose your kill," Nuka said with a laugh. "I mean you're only five months old."

"Yeah," Safara said with a chuckle of her own. "I mean have you had any hunting training?"

"Well no," Jasiri admitted. "My Mom says I'm to young."

"There you go," Nuka said.

"Yeah well maybe you guys didn't cause me to lose my pray," Jasiri admitted. "But can I play with you guys?"

"Sure you can," Safara said. "All you had to do is ask silly." With that the three cubs began to play a game of tag. But their game was short lived as they heard a noise coming from the bushes.

"What the heck was that?" Nuka asked, his amber eyes wide.

"I didn't hear anything," Safara said, looking at Jasiri who shrugged. The three cubs listened for a few seconds but they heard nothing.

"It was probably a bug or something," Jasiri said.

"Yeah," Nuka said. "You're probably right. Lets get back to playing." With that the three cubs went back to play wrestling. But seconds later they heard the same rustling sounds.

"Alright whose in there?!" Jasiri cried out, walking over towards the bushes. "You may as well come out."

"Yeah we know you're in there!" Safara cried out. But still there was silence.

"Alright that's it!" Jasiri cried out. "I'm comin' in there after ya!"

"Jasiri no!" Nuka cried out, walking in front of the rusty brown cub. "Whatever's in there could be dangerous!"

"I'm not scared," Jasiri declared. "I'm goin' in." But before she could take a step they heard Safara let out a scream. Nuka screamed and Jasiri's brown eyes went wide as they turned to see what Safara was screaming about. When they turned they saw two shadowy figures emerging from the bushes.

"I'm goin' to get help!" Nuka cried out, turning to run. But he was so scared he tripped over his paw and fell to the ground, hitting his head hard. "Oww that hurts," the light gold cub groaned, rubbing his head. When he looked up he gasped as he saw one of the shadowy figures standing right over him. "No!" Nuka cried out, trying to get to his feet. But a wave of dizziness prevented him from doing so. "No!" Nuka cried out again as the figure reached for him. "Please don't hurt me!" Nuka cried out, the terror clear in his voice as the figure scooped him off the ground. "Dad! Help me!" the terrified cub shouted as the darkness consumed him.
