Ch 4 A Surprising Find

"Dad help me!" Nuka cried out, the terror clear in his voice as the figure lifted him up in the air.

"Hey relax kid I'm not gonna hurt ya," a young female voice said as she put Nuka down. Nuka looked up and saw a light brown cub with light green eyes who was just a little older than Kovu standing there.

"Who...who are you?" Nuka asked, still slightly afraid of the cub.

"Doesn't matter who I am," Kiara said, her voice having a slight edge to it. Then her tone softened and she turned to Nuka and asked, "Are you alright? You did a pretty big faceplant there kid."

"My name's Nuka," Nuka said, annoyed at being called kid once again. "And I'm fine. Its just well you guys surprised me that's all."

"More like scared you," snickered the other figure, who was a creamy brown cub with blue eyes. He looked to be around the same age as Nuka.

"Shut up Kopa!" Safara snarled, glaring at her friend. "Or I'll tell your mother." Just then Safara gasped and covered her mouth as she realized her mistake.

"You know them?" Nuka asked, giving Safara a confused look.

"Well yeah I do," Safara admitted. "There Kion's sister and twin brother. Kopa and Kiara."

"Oh," was all Nuka could think to say. "That makes sense."

"How come you two were hidin' in the bushes?" Jasiri asked.

"We weren't hiding," Kiara said, glaring at Jasiri.

"Yeah," Kopa chimed in. "We were uh looking for Kion. Yeah that's it. We were looking for Kion."

"Well he's by the river playing with our other friends," Nuka said.

"Well then," Kopa said. "We'd better go find him." With that Kopa and Kiara began to walk away.

"Hey wait!" Nuka called out. "You guys don't have to go. You can stay and play with us if you want."

"Uh I'm seven months old," Kiara said. "I don't play with little one month old babies."

"I'm two months old for your information!" Nuka snapped, glaring at Kiara.

"Yeah and I'm five months old!" Jasiri growled. "And we don't want you to play with us if you're gonna be mean."

"Look Kiara's sorry she was mean," Kopa said. "Aren't you Kiara?" Kopa looked up at his older sister when he said this part. Kiara said nothing. She only glared at her brother. "She gets her meanness from our mother," Kopa added, giving Kiara the same glare. "Don't you Kiara? You're just like Mother aren't you?"

"No," Kiara snapped. "I'm not like her!"

"Your Mom's mean to you?" Nuka asked, shocked at the idea of someone having a mean mother.

"Look I'm sorry I was mean alright?" Kiara said quickly, not wanting to explain her awful home life to them. "Can we just forget it?"

"Sure," Nuka said, looking at Jasiri, who shrugged. "Lets play!" With that the cubs lets out cheers. But before they could play they heard the thunderous roar echo through the air. Turning the cubs saw Simba heading towards them along with Zira and some other lionesses from his Pride.

"Crap its King Simba," Kiara muttered. "We've gotta go!" With that Kiara and Kopa took off before they were seen.

"Nuka!" Simba cried out, running over to his son. "Are you alright son? We heard you cry out for help."

"I'm fine Dad," Nuka said as his father pulled him close and nuzzled him.

"Oh Nuka your head!" Zira exclaimed, examining the bump that was on the back of Nuka's head from when he fell.

"I'm alright Mom," Nuka insisted. "Really I am. I just got startled when this new cub jumped out of the bushes. I tripped over my own paws and fell. Guess I hit my head."

"You injured my son?!" Simba growled, turning to face Safara, who gulped in fear.

"No Dad it wasn't Safara's fault!" Nuka cried out.

"Yeah it really wasn't King Simba," Jasiri chimed in. "She's really nice and we've been playing all day. It was the other..."

"I'm sorry for scaring you Safara," Simba said. "But aren't you a little young to be wandering around by yourself."

"I wasn't by myself," Safara declared "I was with K...I mean a friend of mine. He's playing with Vitani and Kovu by the river."

"Vitani's by the river?!" Zira cried out, her ruby eyes wide. "Kings above she doesn't know how to swim!"

"Nuka come with us," Simba said, picking Nuka up by his scruff. "Jasiri you and Safara should head home."

"Yes King Simba," the two girls said together. With that the group went their separate ways.

Meanwhile by the river Vitani, Kovu and Kion were having a great time. "Hey its really hot today," Kovu said, sticking out his tongue.

"Yeah it sure is," Vitani agreed with a sigh.

"Hey we should go swimming," Kion suggested.

"Uh I can't swim Kion," Vitani said, sounding a little embarrassed.

"Oh yeah you probably haven't been taught yet since this is your first time out of the cave," Kion said, wrinkling his brow. "Well we should at least get a drink."

"Good idea," Vitani said with a smile. With that the three cubs went to the edge of the river to get a much needed drink.

"Kion!" Kiara cried out, suddenly appearing. "We've gotta go!"

"Yeah King Simba's on his way here!" Kopa cried out

"Whoa!" Kion cried out, startled by his siblings' sudden appearance. The brown coated cub jumped and accidently bumped into Vitani.

"Hey!" Vitani cried out as she fell into the water. "Hey!" Vitani cried out as she sputtered up water. "Help me!"

"Vitani!" Kovu cried out, his green eyes wide with fear.

"No!" Kion cried out, his own eyes wide with horror as he knew Vitani didn't know how to swim.

"C'mon Kion lets go!" Kiara shouted, grabbing her brother.

"I can't leave Vitani!" Kion pretested. "She could drown!"

"Not our problem little brother," Kiara hissed as she drug Kion away. Kopa followed and the three cubs left, leaving Vitani in the water to drown.

"Vitani grab my paw!" Kovu cried out, holding out his paw to the terrified cub.

"I can't!" Vitani cried out as she went under the water once again.

"Hold on I'm coming!" Kovu cried out as he jumped into the water. Kovu popped his head out of the water but he saw no sign of Vitani. "Vitani!" the golden brown cub called out. "Vitani where are you?!" Still nothing. Just when Kovu was about to give up he felt his back paw hit something soft and furry. "Vitani!" Kovu cried out as he dove under the water. Seconds later Kovu surfaced dragging Vitani by her scruff. But Kovu was only six moths old and the weight of Vitani plus the rapids of the river were getting to be to much for him. "I can't let Vitani drown," he thought as he tried his hardest to swim to shore. "I can't let her drown." Kovu was getting more and more tired and he was sinking below to rapid himself. Just when he was about to go under he felt someone grab him by his scruff and drag him to the shore. Once he was one dry land Kovu coughed up water and gasped in air.

"Kovu are you alright?" Simba asked, looking at the cub with concern.

"I'm...I'm alright," Kovu gasped. "But...Vitani...is she..." Kovu trailed off, unable to continue as he struggled to get a breath. Kovu's vision was going in and out and he knew he was on the verge of passing out. The last thing Kovu remembered was Simba calling him name. Then his world went to black.

A/N well folks once again I'm leaving you all with a cliffie. Sorry not sorry lol. But I do hope you all enjoyed ch 4. Review please.
