Ch 12 An Unexpected Alliance

"What do you mean your mother will finish the job?" Kovu demanded, glaring at Kopa. "She wasn't even there when Vitani and Nuka fell down the side of the gorge."

"Yeah," Jasiri chimed in. "We would have seen her."

"I know she wasn't there," Kopa said with annoyance. "I just mean Mother wants Vitani and Nuka dead and she thinks they are dead. I'm just worried that if she finds out they're not dead she'll send someone to finish the job."

"Someone like you maybe?" Kijana asked, his voice a low growl.

"Or maybe your sister here?" Chana chimed in as she narrowed her dark brown eyes at Kiara.

"If we were gonna kill them then why would we tell you?" Kopa demanded, rolling his blue eyes.

"Yeah that would be pretty dumb," Nyeusi said as she also rolled her dark brown eyes.

"Yeah," Kovu said softly. "I guess you do have a point."

"So you'll help us then?" Kopa asked, trying not to sound to eager.

"We have to discuss this," Jasiri said, motioning for Kovu, Moto, Kijana and Chana to follow her.

"Think they'll help us?" Chafu whispered to Kopa.

"I hope so," Kopa whispered back. "Otherwise we're all screwed."

Meanwhile back at Pride Rock Vitani was getting anxious. The tan coated cub wasn't one for just setting still and doing nothing. "Ugh I can't take this anymore!" the four month old Princess cried out.

"What's going on?" came Nuka's sleep filled voice. Vitani looked over at saw that her twin was rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

"Sorry Nuk'," Vitani said, feeling bad she had woke her brother. "I didn't mean to wake you up."

"Its alright 'Tani," Nuka said with a yawn. "What cha yellin' about anyways?"

"I hate being stuck in this stupid cave!" Vitani cried out. "I have to get out!"

"Yeah good luck with that," Nuka said with another yawn. "You're still hurt remember? There's not way Mom and Dad will let you go anywhere."

"Well Mom and Dad aren't here now are they?" Vitani asked, looking around the cave for her parents. To her surprise not only were Simba and Zira not there but there wasn't a single adult in the cave.

"Tani," Nuka began. "I don't think you should try to walk. You could hurt yourself even more than you already are."

"Ah who ask ya anyways?" Vitani grumbled as she began to stand. A stab of pain went through her side and she sucked in her breath. "Ow that hurts," she groaned, shutting her eyes tight in pain.

"You see?" Nuka said. "That's why you shouldn't try to move. You've got broken ribs."

"Ah I'll be fine," Vitani declared as she stood, ignoring the pain in her side. But when she was fully standing a wave of dizziness came over her and she swayed slightly on her feet. After a few minutes Vitani steadied herself. "I'll see ya later Nuk'," Vitani said as she turned to take a step. But when she moved a sharper stab of pain went through her side, causing her to cry out in pain.

"Vitani!" Nuka cried out, concerned for his sister. Without even thinking the light gold cub tried to get to his feet. But a stab of pain in his side quickly prevented him from doing so and he cried out in pain as well. Just then Sarabi came running over.

"Vitani!" the tan coated former Queen cried out. "Nuka! Are you two alright!?" Then she noticed Vitani on her feet. "Vitani what in the world are you doing!?" Sarabi cried out. "You're not supposed to be on your feet!" With that Sarabi gently helped Vitani back to the ground. Just then Zira came running over with Simba right behind her.

"We heard the kids cry out," the tan coated Queen said. "What happened?!"

"Ask Vitani," Nuka groaned as he shut his eyes tight in pain. Zira wrapped her paws around her son while Simba did the same with Vitani, both of them trying their best to help their children work through the pain that they were experiencing.

"I was just gonna go to the watering hole," Vitani said, wiping away the tears that were going down her face. "I hate being stuck in this stupid cave. I needed some air that's all. I'm sorry."

"I think you've already learned a very painful lesson honey," Simba said, nuzzling his daughter. "Just please promise me the next time you want to get out you'll tell someone so we can help you."

"Really?" Vitani said, looking up at her father with wide amber eyes. "You'd let me leave the cave?"

"As long as someone is carrying you," Simba said, looking at Zira who nodded in agreement. "At least until Rafiki gives the ok for you to walk on your own."

"Thanks Daddy," Vitani said, nuzzling Simba.

"Hmmm you're welcome honey," Simba said, giving Vitani's head a lick.

"And that goes for you too Nuka," Zira chimed in. "If you want to leave the cave just ask and we'll help you."

"Thank Mom," Nuka said as Zira gave him a nuzzle.

"Now then do you two feel up to going to the watering hole?" Simba asked, looking at his children.

"Yes please!" the twins cried out, their eyes lighting up with excitement.

"Well then lets go," Zira said with a chuckle. With that she gently picked up Vitani while Simba picked up Nuka. Together they, along with Sarabi carried the Prince and Princess out of the cave.

Meanwhile Kovu and Jasiri and the jackal pups had reached a decision and they approached Kiara, Kopa and their friends. "Alright we've decided rather we're gonna help ya or not," Jasiri said, her voice coming out rough.

"Well then?" Kiara asked after their was silence for a few seconds.

"We'll help you guys," Kovu said. "But there are conditions attached."

"Such as?" Safara asked.

"We're gonna watch ya like hawks," Jasiri said, her voice still having a rough tone to it.

"Yeah and either me, Jasiri or one of the jackal pups is gonna be with you at all times," Kovu chimed in.

"And lets be crystal clear on one thing," Moto pipe up. "We don't trust ya."

"Yeah like at all," Kijana put in.

"Yeah well right back at ya," Kiara growled, glaring at the jackal pups.

"Yeah you think we like working with jackals?" Nyeusi chimed in.

"Yeah we like working with jackals 'bout as much as we like having termites bite our rears," Chafu added.

"Ok I think we can all agree we don't like each right," Kopa interrupted.

"You can say that again," Jasiri muttered.

"But we can also agree that we don't want anything bad to happen to Vitani and Nuka right?" Kopa continued.

"Right," Kovu said with a nod.

"So we're all gonna be nice to each right?" Kopa went on, looking directly at Kiara when he said this part.

"I will if they will," the light brown ten month old cub said.

"Yeah sure we'll play nice," Moto said, looking over at his siblings who nodded in agreement.

"Just so long as you keep the nasty comments to yourself," Chana said.

"Deal," Chafu said, looking at his friends who all nodded.

"Alright we have an alliance," Kovu said as he, Jasiri and the jackal pups held out their paws. After shaking paws the group all stared at each other for a minute.

"So like what's the plan?" Kijana asked.

"Yeah Kopa you seam to be in charge here," Safara said. "What's the plan?" Kopa looked at his friend and smiled.

"I've got the perfect plan," the creamy brown cub said. But before he could continue an ear splitting roar echoed through the air. The group of young animals gasped as two furry figures jumped in front of them.
