There is mention of a distressing scene. Nothing graphic but this is just a warning, at the last couple of sentences mention rape and violence.
Hermione landed in the Cullen house with a small thump of her feet hitting the ground. She looked around, her body almost coming back to sorts with time travel. Edward came out of the piano room, very cautiously. Hermione noticed him and gave him a wide smile, she called out his name. "Edward, my love, how are you, and what date is it?"
Edward immediately relaxed and came to her with an embraced her. His smile was a bit blinding. "It is 1933 and if you haven't been able to figure it out we are in New York instead of Chicago. I am good, Carlisle is at work right now."
Hermione nodded with understanding. "That's all good and all, but I will catch up with him later. I want to hear all about what I missed and how are you love."
He smiled almost sheepishly and launched into a large explanation of what had happened within the couple of years she missed. His new hobbies and where they had started hunting, and how Carlise was. She asked about every nitty-gritty detail, which showed Edward that she truly cared and was his new mom. Hermione beamed and felt so much pride for him. She expressed as much to him and she knew that if he was pumping blood, his cheeks would be rosy red.
Hermione smiled at him when the clock chimed at 5 pm. Pulling out her wand, she waved it around and the teacups came dancing out of the cabinets, with a teapot singing. Edward stared in amazement, didn't matter how many times he saw the magic, he was still in awe. She smiled at his expressions and said "when I was twelve, I had the same reaction, even know it truly is magical. I fought hard for that right, and for everyone else to have it. I cherish magic as I do the air I breathe." Edward's eyebrows raised but Hermione said no more. She knew that she let things slipped about her past, it wasn't as if she wasn't truthful but she refused to expand because she wanted to spare her family the horrors. Nevertheless, she expected him to repeat what she had said to Carlisle.
There was a door creaking open and a couple of thuds indicated that Carlisle was home. He had heard a heartbeat outside but as soon as he was inside he could smell his soulmate and instantly feel at home. His grin widened when he smelled the tea, her tea. She was sitting at the table sipping the tea and watching the doorway in anticipating his walkthrough. She smiled and greeted him with a kiss. Carlisle relaxed instantly with Hermione in his arms. She laughed and made the observation that both of the Cullen men relaxed noticeably. Their explanation was that she came home, and their family was whole again.
She smiled and told Carlisle to clean up and settle down from work. He chuckled a bit and did exactly that. She caught up with him while Edward went out to prowl the night. She made sure to express that he better be home when she woke up because otherwise she would track him down and it would not be pretty. He saluted her and left. Carlisle had his arms wrapped around her waist, and they waved him off. They used the night to catch up until she grew wary and had to go rest.
When she woke, Carlisle was up talking to Edward with the teapot on and new groceries in the pantry. She smiled and internally thought how much she could get used to the treatment of having someone put her first. Not to say that others in her present put her off to the side, but she typically was a warrior and a friend rather than feeling like a princess. They both baked her a good morning, Edward poured her tea and Carlisle started to make her food. She laughed and spoke about her internal thoughts of feeling spoiled. The men laughed but didn't deny that they were trying to bribe her into staying.
Hermione told them that she wished to go out and explore New York. She knew about the idea of the dust bowl and poverty, but she wanted to help. So both men joined her in acting like a saint and a tourist. She bought and donated money to those on the street, she helped out others that she saw in need. She got caught up in the popular culture in 1933. One of the pop cultures was a beautiful woman named Rosalie Hale was engaged to Royce King II, the son of the wealthiest family in Rochester. She saw it in a newspaper that she had bought from a newsie for ten cents.
Two weeks had gone by and everything had gone into a routine again. Carlisle had to go eat for dinner, and so he went out, while Edward and Hermione stayed home. He had hunted a couple of animals and it quenched his thirst for now. As he was walking back he ran into a horrible scene, a group of men raped and beat a woman and left her for dead. Carlisle found her and recognized her as the young woman who was going to marry Royce King II. He couldn't just leave her there, his doctor instincts were screaming that she was going to die. He grabbed her unconscious body and rushed back to the house.
