Hermione landed softly, she was dressed in a long skirt that fell just below her lower shin, with a form-fitted top to go with it. She had a coat and more reasonable high heels with a small purse and gloves. Her estimate of when she was was about 1935. But what was odder was that she was in the middle of the woods. Looking around she tried to distinguish where she was when she heard a yell of anguish and distress. Hermione went sprinting towards the sound. Inwardly thinking she must have gained the "save everyone syndrome" from Harry.

Almost all at once she came to a clearing, with a bear furiously mauling a man. Still looking around to clear the scene she spots Edward in the clearing. Then she sees Rosaline looking tormented. She yells to her "Get back, let me stun the bear, then we can try to save him." Hermione wasn't even thinking when she was shouting, it was more commander, war strategist and world saver that was in the zone, otherwise, she would have remembered her family feeds off of animals and could have taken down the bear in seconds. "Stupefy" The bear crumpled to the ground while Rosaline sprinted to the man underneath him.

Rosaline was in a panic "I have to save him! What do I do? Oh god, his heartbeat...I have to take him to Dad." Hermione put her hand on Rosaline's shoulder and nodded with her assessment. Edward said, " I'll take care of Mum, you get him to Dad quickly." With that Rosaline picked him up like he weighed nothing considering he was a tall muscular man. Edward ran his hands through his hair. "Well that was an exciting event back wasn't it." Hermione just bit her lip nervously and nodded. She opened her arms and Edward embraced her. "It is 1935 if you are wondering, we are still in Chicago. Although Esme insists we move to Forks, Washington." Edward filled her in. "It's a great place, so open and quiet with lots of wood." He mocked her at her attempt to relocate. Hermione frowned a little and said she didn't know anything about Forks Washington to make an opinion. Edward just grinned at her and asked if she wanted a ride back. Hermione raised an eyebrow at him. He smiled and said he didn't want her to get lost, after all, he promised Rosaline to look after her.

Back at home, Carlisle was turning the young man into a vampire. Rosaline was anxiously looking over him. "He looked like my old childhood friend Henry, I couldn't just let him die," Carlisle assured her he understood. She continued like he hadn't said anything, "Mum showed up to save us, I think she forgot we were vampires..and.."She trailed off looking at the young man's face. Carlisle, however, perked up with that added detail "Wait Hermione is back?" Rosaline looked at Carlisle "Yes. She helped us...weren't you listening?" Carlisle apologized but grinned like a fool. He had missed her and they left off less than stellar terms. After a talk with his kids he understood why she had objected now, he could apologize.

"Carlisle…?" Just like that Hermione's voice filled the quiet house. He heard Edward downstairs getting her coat.

He went down to her, embracing and whispering how he was sorry and how he loved her. Hermione smiled and whispered about loving him too and she was sorry she had to go. The reunion that needed to happen.

Then Esme came home, to see all of the love is in the air and her nemesis back. She glared at the sickening sight but quickly masked her face to be cheerful.

"Oh, Hermione, we weren't expecting you here. Sorry I wasn't home to greet you properly."Esme said with a coy smile. "Not a problem, we were on a save and rescue mission anyway." Edward butted in before Hermione could even speak."Why do I hear another heartbeat?"Esme's tone was sharper than before.

"As Edward was saying, Rosaline and he found a human that needed saving. So he was brought home." Hermione responded defensively. She did not appreciate the tone towards Edward that Esme had taken.

"What! How dare you condemn another person like this! What cruelty do you impose? You should have left him for dead!" Esme got in Hermione's space more than comfortable. Her finger was an inch away from Hermione's face.

"Now wait a second, it was important for Rosaline. And how dare you claim this life is cruel. You take that back right now. My children are perfect no matter what kind of person they are or have become." Hermione's voice rose to match Esme's anger.

Carlisle looked stricken by the harsh words spoken by Esme.

"Is that how you really feel?" Carlisle spoke quietly but everyone could hear it.

Flustered Esme said "No not at all, not about you saving me. It's just so selfish how kids can be." She tried to fall back in grace with Carlisle. She failed by the looks around the room and so she stalked off.

Her plans were ruined once again by a mere human. Thoughts of needing to get back into the family's image of a doting mother filled her head. Thankfully Edward was too busy inquiring about the new man who may or may not become a Cullen.

A few days passed by and the new vampire awoke for the very last time. Hermione was once again shoved out for safety reasons.

Rosaline was the first person he saw. "Who...who are you? Where I am? What happened."

Rosaline smiled at him and introduced herself. "Hello. My name is Rosaline, I had to save you. So there might be a few things that needed to be explained. But first, tell me your name?"

"Emmet, my name is Emmet. And I'd listen to you anyway. You are gorgeous." Emmet said sounding starstruck.

Rosaline smiled with her pearly white teeth, lighting up her face. If she could blush she would have been. It was love at first sight. He took the news about being a vampire very well. Later he would claim it's only because of his savior as he took to calling her.

Later with Emmet fed and the threat of being attacked lessened, Hermione came home. She had been out in the muggle world just viewing current events and enjoying herself, stopping later to grab some things from the wizarding world. Hermione's first impression was that he was as playful as the twins but as kind as Neville. She thought that Emmet and Rosaline would make a handsome couple. She recognized that the house was almost alive, with all the playfulness that was suddenly breathed into it.

Hermione and Carlisle were discussing it in bed that evening. The children had gone hunting again and Esme went along to "chaperone". That angered the siblings but Carlisle had put a stop to their rolling eyes and said it would be a nice experience for them all. Rosaline got the hint that her father wanted alone time with Carlisle, so she sighed and dragged Emmet and Edward by the arm. Esme strolled behind, teasingly she warned Hermione as she passed "don't do anything a proper lady wouldn't do." Hermione resisted the urge to slug her as she had with Draco knowing full well she would break something if she did.

Carlisle and Hermione spoke softly once the kids were gone. Ironing out the miscommunications of the morning she had left.

"I love you, Hermione, I should have not pushed it," Carlisle said pulling Hermione by her waist and almost whispering in her ear.

"I love you too. I know this is difficult. But Esme does need to understand that you are mine and I am yours. This will not be a weird love triangle in her delusion." Hermione said, pulling back to look him in the eye.

"I know. I am trying to come up with a plan." Carlisle promised.

"What is this about moving to Forks? Edward mentioned something about it." Hermione inquired.

"Oh, Esme was saying that Forks Washington would be a good place to go to have some roots," Carlisle explained, then he paused as the thought. "I might take her up on it, as much as Chicago is a large area for us to blend in, there isn't a lot of areas to hunt."

"I agree, you could go someplace more wooded, but I am not sure if Forks is the place. You said it is a small area. The non-aging and sparkling would be an issue if you don't use my glamour. And I don't know when I will come and go, that's part of the potion's side effects." Hermione said biting her lip.

"Well that's a consideration to take but it is cloudy and raining all the time there supposedly," Carlisle assured her.

Hermione nodded, still lost in the possibilities that could happen. She kissed him. "I love you no matter what you choose." She promised him.

Hermione spent a few more weeks with the Cullens before she felt a tug and was quickly out the door before she once again vanished.
