Esme came home and was asked to come to the kitchen by Carlisle. She dainty walked to the kitchen but inwardly wanted to sprint there. She could hear the heartbeat and a few ruffles of clothing as if someone was rocking on their heels. When she got there, she saw all the children and the human standing next to Carlisle. She realized it almost looked protective, then shook her head, protective of what she internally scoffed.

"Esme, you have been a great addition to the Cullen Family," Carlisle said with his rich deep voice. It could make her melt to butter if she just got lost in the sound. This could be her chance to be the future Mrs. Cullen. He would say that he got tired of Hermione and she would be his. Esme practically was trying to do it with her thoughts. Edward was trying not to growl at the preposterous thoughts that she was thinking.

"Esme? Are you okay?" Carlisle inquired. She had gone silent and almost glassy-eyed as if she hadn't heard a single thing. Truth be told, she really hadn't, she was already envisioning a white wedding gown.

She blinked even if she didn't need too, it was such a human response. She smiled and turned her attention back to Carlisle, as her eyes focused on his perfect face. He had such beautiful hazel eyes, with that almost lazy pushed back golden hair and jawline that made her think so risque thoughts. So tall and elegant, with just a kind heart and it didn't hurt that he made some good money. She was thinking about shipping the kids off to a summer camp or something so they could have some couples time together. Edward wanted to bleach his brain, so he quickly made a fake retching sound to indicate that he could still hear her thoughts. Esme would be blushing red if she could, remembering her son could hear her thoughts, and with that, her attention was back to Carlisle.

"Yes, Esme you have been a great addition but I think I know a family that could really use you in their coven. They would love to have you."

"Sure love, if that's what you want," Esme responded sweetly. Then the actual meaning of his words sunk in. "WAIT! You are sending me away! After all, I've done for you! How could you! I've been a loving mother and I'm just waiting for the proposal. That human will end up dead and you will be forever alone if it weren't for me! How dare you try to ship me off! You did this to me. You killed me and now I will suffer forever in the hands of you. How dare you try and take away what is mine!" Esme practically spitfire with such rage.

Hermione was quickly pushed to the back, her protection of Emmet and Edward rushed in front of her. Hermione felt this was very silly as she didn't need protection, she could protect her self. With such a sudden movement, Esme noticed how they went to protect the human. She felt such rage that she had never felt before. Hermione was a mere human, she didn't deserve such a gifted family. It was all her fault! It was all everyone ever talked about, "Hermione this" or "Hermione that". Esme lunged at the boys, she made the tackles from the Super Bowl look like light taps. The sound echoed as Edward fell to the floor with Esme on top of him. Banshee screaming with rage she started hitting and scratching anyone that got in her reach. Rosaline and Carlisle were trying to pull her off of Edward. Emmet was still trying to protect Hermione. Utter madness that had happened in mere seconds. Hermione pulled out her wand and screamed "Petrificus Totalus", causing everyone to freeze in their spot. She had it directly pointed at Esme though, so she was the only one who was actually frozen. The madness had stopped, and everyone started to untangle from each other.

Hermione was muttering, "knew this wouldn't work" and "if we could all just sit proper." All the vampires heard snippets of her mutterings when she would say it out loud but some of them were just her thoughts. The word dignity came up a few times throughout her miniature internal/sometimes external rant.

Hermione let a deep breath out. "Well that clearly did not work and it would have been better to have done it a less aggressive way. We did know that Esme suffers from some delusions and throwing that information at her was not ideal."

Carlisle coughed uncomfortably, a human habit he hadn't quite lost. It was his idea to say it to her face. Hermione turned to him with an eyebrow raised slightly. Her wild hair had looked more like a mane at that moment, feisty and territorial. The kids looked down at their toes, almost like small children in trouble. The muffles of "Sorry" was heard about the room.

Then Hermione turned to the culprit of the entire chaos and looked at Esme. She said, "I am going to unbind you but I am going to keep your legs bound for right now as I do not trust you not to go mad again." Esme had no choice but to go along with what was said.

"I know this is difficult for you. You are right, you were not asked for this lifestyle and you are delusional about the people around you. It is a mental process that can be hard to deal with. I think that you might like the coven that Carlisle knows. He is trying to scaffold a way for you to feel comfortable in a new place to live. This situation is exactly why you living with us is not working out. I hope the best for you and I really do want you to feel better about this situation so I am going to change some of your memories to fit a more pleasant scene." Hermione explained crouching to the woman who she wasn't the number one fan of. But Hermione had seen enough mental health issues to know that Esme was suffering something that she couldn't formally diagnose.

With a wave of the wand and some spells to go with it, Hermione crafted a story that Carlisle and his family saved her from jumping off the river. She altered the memory so she was in it as Carlisle's wife so not to give her any ideas. The last memory was Esme discussing that she wanted to go live with a different family because she wanted another adventure. Hermione said she would be good to go in a few minutes and she was right after she unbound her completely. Esme had snapped out of the trance.

"The Denali coven should be here by tomorrow or day after based on travel time. Tanya promised that she could help us out." Carlisle explained. Esme gave a dazzling smile "Thank you so much for hosting me! It has been so much fun being here but I want to see what other covens are like too."

Everyone except for Hermione looked around as if to signify "was that all it took?". Hermione was deep in thought about having to do another memory charm. She shook her head mentally and pretended everything was fine once again.

The next day Tanya did show up with the clan, introducing them as Kate, Garret, Carmen, and Eleazar. She smiled at the Cullen family and explained that they would need to hunt and introduce themselves on a more personal level to Esme. The rest of the coven was eyeing Hermione curiously.

Carlisle quickly introduced his family as they hadn't yet met Emmet and Hermione. But he did not mention much about Hermione being human. The others just nodded politely, without mentioning it back. They would ask Esme later once they had left. Soon everyone was settled and enjoying the evening together as an extended family visit. The Denali could even understand why Carlisle was quite taken by her.
