Hermione landed with a thud. She had landed somewhere different. Looking around she noticed it was somewhere with a heavy wooded area, there was black spruce, which she knew was found in North America. It smelled fresh and the dirt in the pathway where she landed had the earthy smell she loved. A light blue sky peaked through the woods as the sunlight shone through and felt warm on her skin. It was fall with the air feeling slightly chilled, and a few leaves starting to change color and fall to the ground.
She looked around and saw that the potion ensured that she landed where people wouldn't see her appear through thin air once again. She made a mental note to tell Severus that the potion most definitely worked, as long as she got home and hadn't changed the timeline too much. Hermione's hand reached into her pocket and looked at the paper that stated where she needed to go. So with the address in mind she popped away, which turns out she needed to only walk half a mile away. The cabin she ended up in front of was quite large. Made of lovely wood as if it was meant for a holiday movie that used winter as a backdrop with beautiful windows, a chimney and a glass front door. There was a garage with a Mercedes-Benz 300TD Wagon, and a Ferrari F40 which fit the personalities of her family. She looked around the surroundings, it had a dirt road and it didn't seem close to neighbors or civilization. The trees loomed around her but felt more comforting than ominous.
Hermione knocked on the door but there wasn't anyone that answered. Deciding sitting around and waiting wouldn't do her any good, she decided to test her theory out that if she focused on a person with so much intention she could apparitate to them. She wasn't sure if it would do anything and she never tested it out. But she had gotten some tricks in the present from the House-elves that she was still on good terms with. They had taught her that if the House-elves were not mistreated and loved their families, then they didn't want to be "freed" because it was more that they were being kicked out of their families. They had also taught her a little bit about House-elf magic since she wanted to write a paper on it. Hermione concentrated on Carlisle, and just kept repeating his name, envisioning his face over and over again. And suddenly she is shoved through a tube and popped by the hospital's door. Making another mental work that it worked, but also weary of sharing that knowledge to the public made Hermione think hard about if she would mention that in her notes.
She walked into the hospital and smiled at the receptionist sitting in the lobby.
"Hello, I am looking for Dr. Cullen." Hermione said with as much charisma as it would take to have Voldemort to sit down and have a tea party.
"Everyone is looking for someone. What makes you think that I am going to go let you pester the good doctor." The receptionist said unpleasantly.
"I am his wife." Hermione argued.
"He doesn't have a wife." The receptionist snapped back.
"I am his wife." Hermione said a bit more huffy.
"Don't make me call security. Leave before I consider it because I know Dr. Cullen doesn't have a wife. He is a good man taking on those kids without a wife or a missus to help him. You are certainly not his wife. Now get out." The receptionist glared at her with her hand on the phone ready to dial for the guards.
"I see. Well can I leave a message with you." Hermione was exasperated.
"No." The receptionist said with a sharp tone and began to dial the number to get the security to escort her out.
Hermione felt herself get quite annoyed with such a rude woman but she nodded and decided to walk out the door and find a place to eat before trying to head back to the cabin.
She turned and had one foot stepped towards the door when Carlisle saw her.
"Hermione, wait, Hermione!" He called out to her hurrying as fast as the human pace could allow him to blend in.
"Hi Honey. I tried to find you but the receptionist wouldn't let me." Hermione explained, still feeling a bit snubbed.
"Oh, I'm sorry my love, I'll make sure you can have access while you are here." Carlisle soothed her.
"I did say I was your wife." Hermione admitted, thinking perhaps he didn't mention her as his wife.
Carlisle shook his head, "I don't share personal information so it wouldn't have oame up. I could pass off not wearing a ring for surgery or something. I'm sorry. You are my wife in everything but a certificate."
He took her hand and twirled her around as if suddenly the world would turn into a musical. But instead is intensified the focus of just Hermione and Carlisle in the room. She let out a light laugh with her eyes sparkling with amusement and he had his golden eyes shining bright with mischief. Then he grabbed her waist and guided her to his office.
The receptionist looked shocked and angry at the public display of affection and the crowd in the lobby knew they had just witnessed what love meant in the physical sense.
Carlisle smiled at his soulmate, every time she showed up she brought happiness that couldn't be explained. It made his century every time.
Hermione grinned back at him and asked what she had missed.
"Well we went and lived in Spain for a short time, and hopped over to Italy again. Away from civilization to hunt but close enough that I could help people." Carlisle explained. "The kids have been good, we haven't had any issues with anyone so far. We are in Oregon, USA and it's October 1, 1988.
"I am surprised you popped up here. Wonder why your potion dropped you off here."
"It didn't, it actually brought me to the house and I focused on you to apparitate to the hospital."
"Oh. How did you do that?"
"Honestly a lot of focus, not entirely sure how I did either."
"I haven't adopted anyone else so I'm not sure about the timeline either." Carlisle said with a chuckle.
She smiled. "I'm not sure either. Maybe something happens, we will find out. When do you get off?"
"I'm free now, why don't we go home, the children will be done with school in a few hours anyway, they are taking the bus home. Plus we have to go and get groceries for you."
"Let's go. I miss the kids." Hermione announced. And off they went, he grabbed his coat and with a hand on her waist, guided her out to the car.
Off they went through the doors and left to go back to the cabin in the woods.
The children came home and engulfed Hermione in a hug with love pouring from the tight hug.
They caught her up on what was happening in their lives and what happened that particular day. She lived for the simplicity and normalcy as the entire family benefited from it as well.
Carlisle smiled at her. He truly thought of her as his wife without the paperwork. He smiled and nodded at Edward who looked at him with an eyebrow raised. He had been talking about it with the family and they all agreed. Alice and Rosalie had poured over magazines and looked at every jeweler there was to find the perfect ring for their mother. All that was left was to pop the question. Emmett, Edward and Jasper felt like this was all very silly but understood the meaning that their mother should get the full experience of legally becoming their mother. Oblivious Hermione was just content on being home.
