In Lightclan, dark-pelt cats are considered slaves but Lightkit wants to change all that. Born to the clan leader and his recently deceased mother, he's determined to be the next leader,but when he befriends a dark-pelt kit named Darkkit they're inseparable,but when his father kills the only friend he's ever had. His heart changes to a kind,sweet kit to a cold and murderous leader.

Two moons had passed since Lightclaw became a warrior and today was Stormkit, Blizzardkit, Glimmerkit, Shimmerkit, Duskkit, Nightkit, Shadowkit, Mistykit, Gingerkit, and Applekit's apprentice ceremony. Cats had gathered to see the kits get their apprentice names and mentors. Whitestar and Darkheart leaped onto the highrock and Whitestar stepped forward.

"Today we have four kits that are ready to be apprenticed. Come forward." He announced.

All four kits stepped forward.

"Glimmerkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Glimmerpaw. Your mentor will be Echoshine. Shimmerkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Shimmerpaw. Your mentor will be Moonsong. Blizzardkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Blizzardpaw. Your mentor will be Frozenpelt." Whitestar announced.

All three kits were overjoyed to get their apprentice names and mentors and touched noses with them. Crystalheart was proud to see that her sisters had gotten their first apprentice. They may have different eye color and look different, but they were born to the same parents. Crystalheart was the oldest, Echoshine was in the middle, and Moonsong was the youngest. Blossomsnow smiled when her mate got his first apprentice as Petalflower was her first apprentice and now it was Frozenpelt's turn. It would be nice if Blossomsnow could get another apprentice, then she and her mate could both train their apprentices together.

"And Stormkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Stormpaw. Your mentor will be Lightclaw." Whitestar finished.

The clan gasped in shock and Lightclaw was surprised. He didn't expect that he was getting an apprentice that soon, he was expecting it to happen for as how many moons it would take to be ready for an apprentice. Snaketooth stepped forward.

"Lightclaw can't get an apprentice, he's just been made a warrior!" he yowled.

"Lightclaw has been a warrior for two moons, Snaketooth. He's had plenty of time to prepare himself." Whitestar insisted.

Snaketooth opened his mouth to say something, but stopped, stepped back, and sat back down. Lightclaw stepped forward, touched noses with Stormpaw, then joined the other cats as the slave kits stepped forward. Lightclaw sat next to Frozenpelt.

"Congrats on your first apprentice." Frozenpelt whispered.

"Um thanks, you too." Lightclaw said unsure.

Darkheart stepped forward.

"Today we have six kits that are ready to be apprentices. Come forward." She announced.

All six kits stepped forward.

"Gingerkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Gingerpaw. Your mentor will be Leaftumble." Darkheart meowed.

As Leaftumble stepped forward and touched noses with Gingerpaw, Lightclaw was surprised and saw Hawkfrost looking a bit upset. He had been Leaftumble's apprentice for many moons, save for the time he should've had gotten his full name already, but it was postponed. Leaftumble only got a break for two moons. Loudtooth just smiled, like any supporting mate would.

"Applekit, from this moment on, you will be known as Applepaw. Your mentor will be Blackfur." Darkheart continued.

Lightclaw and the clan gasped in shock. Blackfur wasn't ready for another apprentice. True, it had been six moons since Kinkfoot got her full name, but Blackfur lost his son, it would take moons for him to move on from that. If Lightclaw had to guess, Darkheart gave Applepaw to Blackfur in a way to help him keep his mind off of Darkpaw. Lightclaw looked at Moonsong and was surprised to see a sympathetic look on her face. Like she was sympathetic about anything. Moonsong supported the slave law and to see her like that both surprised and angered Lightclaw. Then again, after Darkpaw's death, cats had changed. Perhaps, Lightclaw had underestimated how well he really knew everyone. He looked at Kinkfoot and saw a sad look in her eyes. True, she would rather train an apprentice with a disability, but she honestly wanted Blackfur to have a long break. Six moons wasn't exactly a long break. Blackfur stepped forward, touched noses with Applepaw, then sat next to him. Judging by his gaze, he seemed fine, which surprised Lightclaw since, he thought he would be upset. Everyone looks back at Darkheart.

"Nightkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Nightpaw. Your mentor will be Tinydawn." She announced

The clan gasped; this time, more loudly than last time. Everyone muttered and whispered to one another, but it wasn't as silent as it was before.

"Oh come on, Tinydawn's not ready for an apprentice." Frozenpelt commented.

For once, Lightclaw had to agree. He couldn't believe that Darkheart had given Blackfur and Tinydawn a apprentice, six moons after their son died. Maybe it was meant to keep their mind off of Darkpaw, but six moons wasn't exactly long enough to help them cope. Life goes on, true, but there has to be a time where you're ready for something. Lightclaw looked at Glowfur and saw him looking down; sad. Lightclaw was enraged; like he had any sadness in him. Like Moonsong, Glowfur supported the slave law, but he was usually silent about it and it was rumored that he was in love with Shinefur, so it would explain why he was quiet about the slave law, he wanted to impress Shinefur. Tinydawn stepped forward and touched noses with Nightpaw, than sat next to her. Unlike Blackfur, Tinydawn had a bit of sadness in her eyes and she was upset. Everyone quieted down and looked back at Darkheart.

"Shadowkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Shadowpaw. Your mentor will be Sunpelt." She announced.

Sunpelt stepped forward, touched noses with Shadowpaw then sat down beside her. Lightclaw looked at Raccoonmask and saw a disappointed look in his eyes. It had been six moons since he got his full name. By now, Raccoonmask was expecting to get an apprentice. Why Sunpelt got another apprentice, no one knows, but this surprised Lightclaw. He looked back at Darkheart.

"Mistykit, from this moment on, you will be known as Mistypaw. Your mentor will be Blossomsnow." She meowed.

It made sense. Blossomsnow was a warrior before she got that terrible scar and had her warrior duties stripped and Mistypaw was a warrior's kit before her mother rejected her and was given up to a slave. Lightclaw looked at Frozenpelt and saw him smiling warmly at Blossomsnow. Frozenpelt and her are mates, but after Blossomsnow got that scar and was stripped of her warrior, he was forced to take her as a slave. Frozenpelt never told her what to do and he was heavily criticized because of it. Lightclaw looked at Petalflower and saw only a smile.

"I guess she's not ready for an apprentice." He thought.

Lightclaw looks back at Darkheart.

"And Duskkit, from this moment on, you will be known as Duskpaw. I will be your mentor." She finished.

Cats gasped in shock and surprise, but Lightclaw was confused.

"What! She picked Duskpaw to be her successor?!" Frozenpelt meowed shocked.

Lightclaw looked at him confused. It was just a leader taking an apprentice to train. Duskpaw was surprised and was overjoyed. Whitestar stepped forward.

"Shimmerpaw, Glimmerpaw, Blizzardpaw, Stormpaw, and Brightshine, come forward." He ordered.

All five cats stepped forward.

"Stormpaw, from this moment on, Duskpaw will serve you. Shimmerpaw, from this moment on, Nightpaw will serve you. Glimmerpaw, from this moment on, Shadowpaw will serve you. Blizzardpaw, from this moment on, Mistypaw will serve you. Brightshine, from this moment on, Applepaw will serve you…" Whitestar announced.

Cats started muttering and whispering to each other; Lightclaw was angry. Brightshine wasn't supposed to get another slave, but I guess it was because there was no other warrior left to take one. So what would happen to Gingerpaw?

"Gingerpaw, since there's no other warrior for you to serve, you will serve everyone, but you must do indoor slave duties during your training and you have to be with a warrior for your outdoor slave duties, got it?" Whitestar ordered.

"Yes sir." He meowed.

"Good." Whitestar meowed.

"STORMPAW! GLIMMERPAW! SHIMMERPAW! BLIZZARDPAW! DUSKPAW! NIGHTPAW! MISTYPAW! SHADOWPAW! GINGERPAW! APPLEPAW! STORMPAW! GLIMMERPAW! SHIMMERPAW! BLIZZARDPAW! DUSKPAW! NIGHTPAW! MISTYPAW! SHADOWPAW! GINGERPAW! APPLEPAW!" the clan cheered.
