Chapter 8: A Virus Strikes Back
It is the evening when the twins met with the second gen at the park and they were staying at a hotel till the last stage with datapire. They have been training and getting into better shape. It was advisable to get some rest from the flight here, but for any digimon that had helped them get to the city within the time limit. The other digimon could get some training before the day was out.
"Feels like something from the old days is going to happen again." Ko said.
"Too soon for the final round with the datapire. Has to be something else." Michael said.
There was a moment before both of them widened their eyes from a certain possibility.
"If the proper heroes can't do it, then we will have to step in and probably save the world with our own power." Ko said and Michael gave a simple nod.
Meanwhile in the internet, there is a virus of a digimon that both groups of digi-destined have faced off before; but a very small fragment seemed to survive the encounter with the chosen and avoided deletion.
'I….get….my….revenge.' was a whisper and several heads perked up as if sensing something.
Just then some junk data fell on the virus before it started regaining a body.
The following morning seemed to be a new normal as the Kamen kids were up before dawn and started a new practice of training with each other for an hour or two before getting ready for school and eat breakfast soon after.
"I think this new practice will bear fruit in time." Ace said with Kasumi nodding her head.
"Yeah, your renamon and Rika's probably will keep training with sensei's digimon so they aren't staying too soft." She said with a teasing giggle as she noticed something about the two renamon during the weekend.
"I think something will happen today and only a few would know what's going on." Ace said and Kasumi had a thinking face.
"I'm sure that we and the others will be able to handle it as a team, but we also have sensei and our predecessors." She hugged him in her normal size.
Ace knew that they had people to help them when they needed it, but felt they shouldn't be taken for granted. Soon they went to clean up and get dressed for another day of school. Ace is wearing a custom dark blue shirt of all the crests, a white windbreaker, dark green shorts, and his normal shoes. Kasumi is wearing a shirt with color spectrum under her jean jacket, butterfly jeans, and shoes like Rika normally wears except white and pink. They had a normal breakfast with their parents and the digimon before getting their school bags and leaving the house. Rena-chan followed them via the ninja highway and kept her senses sharp for anything particular.
They met up with Rika who was meeting them at the school gates wearing her normal clothes under a yellow hoodie that had a fox-like hood that had fox ears. Kasumi noticed the hood and giggled into the back of her hand. Ace smirked seeing the same thing before placing the hood on her head.
"A wild Rikamon-chan has appeared." He joked and got a punch to his shoulder from said Rikamon. Rika gently pulled the hood off her head without tearing the hood.
"It's been normal and not in a good way." Rika said as her two friends agreed with her.
"A strange kind of normal and I feel something will be happening today." Ace said as they went inside the school. They went to their lockers to get their books for their coming classes.
Meanwhile, the twins were at the highest chain-of-command for the Japanese defense and the cyber division. They were making sure that everything was more secure than the last time digimon snuck through eating important data.
"Thank you for looking over the security measures and upgrading them yourselves." The head of divisions said.
"Just making sure that no surprises happen, but some of them are sneaky as a shadow." Ko said as both him and Michael were looking over data and the systems.
"Or worse." Michael chimed in with a serious look as his eyes were going through lines of data.
"Like one having a grudge over the years." He added as both frowned.
"We are already dealing with something like that, but it went into hiding again." Ko said thinking of the datapire.
"Before you scramble the troops, we and our students are dealing with it with more care and finesse." Michael said glaring at one of the aides of the head boss.
There was grumbling, but stopped when a hand was raised.
"None of you were around when I was still young and these two were saving innocents no matter race, blood, or country. I trust them to handle what they can while we do what we can. Do you all understand?" Was said before nods happened and both twins were snickering.
"We can say that our wives scare us more than anything on earth and the universe." Ko said with Michael agreeing with him.
"We all know that saying as it is true." The head boss said.
Soon the twins were done with their work and were doing a final test.
Meanwhile, the virus had regained its body from eating junk data in a system. Its eyes flashed before jumping around looking for a way out. Soon it got out and found data before eating it.
"Soon I will return." The virus said with a dark chuckle.
The twins got an alert from the system, but it wasn't a direct attack.
"That was fast, but something isn't right here." Ko said as they went to look at the triggered alarm.
"We are good, but not that good." Michael said like it was fact.
"A digimon in the system, but not directly in it and it's heading to somewhere. Where did it come from?" He added as an afterthought.
Using some tricks, to use their laptops and trace it back to the source location. Within a few minutes, they shared a surprised shock look.
"Any people in this room have kids still learning to talk and impressionable, please leave the room now." Michael said as his hands were clenched fists and started to shake.
"Go!" Their boss said as he stayed with them soon it was just them.
"That lousy piece of junk data is back and somehow still living!" Michael roared while trying to keep his control over his energy not using his real powers.
"What do you plan to do about it?" Was asked.
"It should be obvious." Ko said as both pulled out their digivices after packing their computers in their own pocket hammerspace. The twins vanished into the computer as their digimon appeared by them before surfing the stream finding their prey.
"Contact students." Ko said as Michael was too angry to speak.
"Don't speak, just listen. Diaboromon is back somehow in a system we were testing. We are hunting it with our partners on this end, but be ready for a grudge match. Tamers, if you have megas you will need them for this one." Ko said before hanging up. The four raced off following the trail the virus left warped digivolve to their mega forms, Magnadramon and Kuzuhamon.
"Weirdly enough, I think we might get a show from Ace during this fight." Michael said with a strange yet calm tone. He was still mad as a hornets nest.
"I bet you are right." Ko agreed.
The two groups of passed chosen nodded before meeting at the lake where they faced the monster last time. Ace looked at his phone before zipping to his locker. He pulled his deck case out before pulling out the card of his possible mega form and saw it was possibly glowing.
'Even if I wasn't chosen to be your user, I will choose to help as a knight.' Ace thought and he thought the card gave him a nod.
Soon the day was over for school and the tamers were heading over to the same lake his parents and their friends were waiting for their mentors to need them. Kasumi grabbed Ace before switching to her amazonian form and went to run on the rooftops with the other digimon. While the troops were gathering, the twins caught up to the virus and it was indeed Diaboromon. Michael flashed ahead before beating it around like a pinball blasting its data apart.
"Catch him." Ko said to Magnadramon as he and his partner went to take over for Michael. Diaboromon looked like it was fighting a digi-shredder and lost. Magnadramon caught her partner before looking at his brother, ending the farce of a fight.
"Data Breaker." Ko said slamming his electrified fist into the digimon making it break into in training level digimon. Ko opened a portal to the lake where they faced armageddon and pushed the tiny digimon out of the system they were in and followed them out. Michael was drinking from his flask and had plenty more to recover from.
"Be ready to fire a beam to distract. It was too easy in there." Michael said to his partner.
The in-training digimon seemed to multiply like it was doing the clone tactic on them, but merged back into diaboromon again.
"I'm not that easy to kill this time." It said as the twins plus Ace frowned knowing that it was this waste of data that had given them that foreboding feeling.
The twins noticed their students at the lake and made a barrier to stop the danger seeking of the populace. 'Like they want to get hurt and act really stupid.' Michael said. The barrier had no roof so the digimon wouldn't be trapped and easily targeted.
"Agumon warp digivolve to….Wargreymon."
"Gabumon warp digivolve to…...MetalGarurumon."
"Patamon warp digivolve to….Seraphimon/SlashAngemon."
"Gatomon blast digivolve to…..Ophanimon/LovelyAngemon."
"Gomamon warp digivolve to….Vikemon."
"Palmon warp digivolve to…..Rosemon."
"Biyomon warp digivolve to…...Hououmon."
"Tentomon warp digivolve to…..HerculesKabuterimon."
"Veemon digivolve to….Exveemon."

Ace whistled at the group before looking at his friends.
"Together."

"Impmon blast digivolve to Beelzemon blast mode."
"Hagurumon biomerge to…...HIAndromon."
Before Ace did his turn, something flowed from Omnimon into him and a card half glowed. He felt something help him feel at peace and nodded to both his partner and Kasumi. A card appeared before him and he smirked.
"Digi-Tamer-Modify: Alter Trigger." He said as the area around him became distorted.
"Digi-Tamer-Modify: DNA Biomerge Trigger." Ace said before he merged with both Rena-chan and Kasumi.
"I could never choose between two of my precious friends and allies to bond with." A voice that sounded mostly feminine with a male undertone.
A woman built like Kasumi's height and build, silver nine tails with gold tips, her silver hair in long braided tails, a white fox mask covering her face. She is wearing a black bodysuit with combat boots, silver braces, torso armor, shin guards that Kasumi has in her StaeIlluminamon form; but a star and crown emblem appeared on her mask. A staff appeared in her hand with ten rings as the head of the staff is a yin-yang symbol. She has faint energy wings, but the same number of pairs as the other two angel digimon.
"Angelumiamon." The newly formed digimon said.
"Angeluminamon, Super Ultimate. An unknown angel digimon Attacks: Force Wall, Life Healing, Dragon cannon (fusion of ki and Illumina power dragon fist), Full Powered Illumina Bomber, True Illumina Force Wave."
The fight, if you call it that, was really a one-sided massacre. Right before the kill blow had struck there was a shockwave from Diaboromon and he was changing his form to something else.
"Diaboromon slide evolution to….Armageddemon."
The fighting started again, but sent most except for a few flying back and was trying to shoot Michael out of the air. AngeIllumiamon had made a wall to take the attack, but the form was still new so it was draining for the trio. Omnimon went to take the fight to the spider brandishing its grey sword. Imperialdramon went to help him by firing shots from the cannon on its arm. AngeIllumiamon was struggling a bit to stand up, but the energy was still burning fast. There was a flash before Ace was on his feet and the others were standing on the water like it was a floor. Rena-chan and Kasumi were laying on it yet not sinking below it because of Ace's trump card.
"Sorry, but that form was too much for us to use just yet. We need the energy to sustain it." Ace said running to join the fight as his clothes changed to his fighting gear.
Soon omnimon was sent flying back, but seems to have his arms missing. Ace saw this and it was making the fight in him grow. A card appeared in response and he smirked.
"Tamer-Modify: Card Storm." Ace said, taking a number of his cards from his deck and throwing them into the air.
"Hey virus face, get vaccinated." Ace called getting the attention of the virus and it charging an attack
"Iron Will." Ace slashing the first of many and grabbed the next two.
"Swift step, Multi Swift Step." He said dodging the attacks though just barely each time.
"Oi you braindead moron, keep missing me." Ace keeps egging on the mega.
Meanwhile, the twins were looking at a kid being a target for a mega that was a pain the first time. They for the first time in a long time felt their energy rising higher.
"Twilight Style: Explosive Cannon Fist." Michael said, punching the mega knocking it away so Ko could grab the arms for Omnimon.
"Same as last time, give Imperialdramon your power. Ace is giving us a chance." Ko said, throwing the arms to the body.
Ace was still dodging by the skin of his teeth.
"Flame of Desire, Passion of Protection." Ace used the next to take a couple of hits for Imperialdramon.
"Thanks kid. This one is no joke." He said, slightly breathing heavily.
"Agreed, but I'm still fighting." Ace said before grabbing the last two of three.
"Right Decision." He said flashing over to the virus and went to town on it with both sword and fist.
Meanwhile Imperialdramon took too strong of a hit as he was losing energy. 'Kid isn't doing enough damage on his own.' He thought before seeing the sword with Omnimon's energy in it appeared before him. "Just like last time." He said before shifting into Paladin mode.
Ace was sent flying back, but skidded to a stop. "Burning Spirit." He said as a fire-like aura appeared around him and grabbed the last card before watching the paladin knight blasting the virus with a cannon.
"Giga Positron Laser." Was called before firing. Ace took that chance to appear next to Imperialdramon before getting that feeling again and the card that was glowing glowed one last time before Ace felt a nod in his mind.
Imperialdramon ready the sword and went flying to aim for the head of the virus like before. However, it learned from last time and made it miss the core by a couple inches.
"Forgot someone!" Ace said, punching the head into the sword, but barely moved into it. Both of them got sent back, but Ace only moved a foot back.
"Strength of the Bond." Ace said slashing the last of the storm as lines from him to the others and the twins.
"The conditions have been met and my entire being wills it." Ace said as another card appeared before him.
"Digi-Tamer-Modify: Blasting Warp Digivolution." Ace said, triggering a white card with the D symbol on it.
"The people behind me are my power and with it will end you." Ace said as he was in a white sphere. The body grew to Omnimon's height as the build was closer to Imperialdramon. The base armor is similar to Omnimon while heavy armor like Imperialdramon covers his body.
The heads of Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon on his shoulders while the Grey Sword merged with his Splendor Sword on his arm forming the Omni Splendor Blade. The Garuru Supreme Cannon merged with the Positron Laser forming a double barrel cannon. The head is white with gold horns forming a crown and its eyes are gold glowing with power. Wings grew out his back like the dragon mode just over his white cape.
"Paladinmon, the White Knight." The white knight said.
He charged while firing shots from his cannon arm as his other hand formed the sword. The blade; the same size as the original grey sword, but the guard was gold with a purple line if it was the core of the blade that was under the digi-code for "Knight" for one side and "Terminate" for the other.
"Paladinmon, the White Knight digimon. Level: Super Ultimate. Myth has it that he is the 'real' founder of the royal knights. It is the fusion of Omnimon and Imperialdramon Paladin mode. There is not much known about the mysterious knight digimon. Attacks: Crest Wall, Cerberus Shot, Double Dragon Shoot, Knight Blade, Dual Blade Dance, Hellicane Spin Blast, Twin Burst, Dragon Claw Uppercut, and Dragonic Wing Shield."
"Cerberus Shot." Was called out as blasts shot from the cannon and the two heads. It weakened the virus, but it was charging for a big attack.
"Double Dragon Shoot." Firing two Positron Lasers from his arm cannon into the head. It disrupted the charge while it was trying to get up. Paladinmon jumped into the air using his wings before taking his sword into both hands. Once the virus was off its back, it was firing shots from its back and those homed in on the knight. He flew dodging the shots to get enough speed coming in like a meteor.
"Knight Blade." He said as the sword glowed before growing in size and impaling the head killing virus fully this time and it was fading away.
Paladinmon turned back to Ace as he was falling, but Michael and his partner caught him. The digimon got the humans on land before they fell into the lake as Ace was back to normal, but had nearly passed out from the energy again.
"Feels like my body is adapting to lasting after being a mega level digimon. I should have been unconscious since that first one was harder to manage." Ace said, slowly drinking a spare flask Michael had.
"You just proved to be one of us by fighting like us. During training we will help you and those two manage that form." Michael said with a nod.
Soon everyone made it back to their homes after the barrier was brought down. The twins had clones to help them and a few more to keep the populace away from them. Ko had two clones carrying Ace's partner and Kasumi who was normal sized.
'I hope I did you proud White Knight and I hope to never go astray.' Ace thought about the digi-soul in him and he felt a nod, but a pat on the back.
'Did well for a squire and it only means that you need to get stronger as a knight.' A faint voice in his head and he agreed with it.
'Something is going on if the old foes are learning, judging from what Diaboromon and Armageddemon did, unlike the last time we faced them way back when.' Michael thought over the fight in his head.
"We might have trouble if those digimon are learning from their mistakes. Don't need the leech doing that." Ko said, agreeing with his brother.
Once everyone made it to their homes, the twins helped make recovering easier as Michael was the doctor.
"Take it easy on the training, but your digimon can train with us and our partners after they heal up." Michael said to the tamers who agreed with him and Ace knew that he could keep doing his walks later on when it was possible.
Soon everyone ate some kind of food for dinner and went to sleep for the night and the twins were back at the shrine to think over the battle some more, but they might need to see Ko's wife who might be able to help them if they need to take the tamers with the second gen to the digimon world to find the datapire.
"Troublesome." Ko said with a sigh before they ate something and hit the bed.
Sorry if the chapter felt a bit rushed or so, but I have been trying to get it done. Writing this one took more time because it felt like it was killing my spark for writing, but I worked through it. Two mega level digimon for a sneak peak of the white knight. The next chapter is going to be interesting because it would mean that I could reveal how I would set up how the digimon ruling the digital world.
Armageddemon for the tamers would be a close second to the D-reaper I think, but I don't know how the power scaling would work here. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out there with power scaling the villains by seasons. Apocalymon will be moved from final gen 1 boss to final boss in my story because of his ability to copy certain attacks from slain digimon. He won't appear in this one, but in the second story.
Thanks for staying with me, but now I need to jump back to my naruto fic and get started revamping that like this one and my rwby fic.
