Hello Everybody and welcome to my new story "Love in Romani Ranch". This is only my second work of fanfiction I hope you all will enjoy it.
After Link defeated Majora and returned the mask to the Happy Mask Salesman he tried to leave to return to Hyrule but as he tried to leave the way he came the door that he came through was still shut.
I sure hope I can make it back to Hyrule. Link thought as he went to leave the clock tower when the Happy Mask Salesman (I am going to call him Zolom) looked at him clearly aware that Link was stuck here.
"I'm sorry to tell you this but since your encounter with the true form of Majora you cannot return to Hyrule." Zolom said.
Link looked at him, "What do you mean I can't return to Hyrule?"
"I don't really understand why you can't but you would have to stay here because if word ever got out that this mask is still around and found, people would try to take it for there own personal gain then the world would face a giant catastrophe. As a hero you wouldn't want that. Plus this world could really use having there own hero"
Link nodded his head understanding. I guess I have to settle here then. But where would I live.
Link left the Clock Tower and headed to the Stock Pot Inn, once he got there Anju and Kafei were at the front desk.
"Hey Link thank you for helping me and Kafei." Anju said, "You really helped us out a lot."
"No problem really," Link replied. "I'm going to need a room to stay because I can't return back to Hyrule."
Kafei looked at him, "What do you mean you can't return back to Hyrule."
"Well because of my encounter with Majora I can't risk having the outside world come here to take the mask for their own personal gain just like the skull kid just to have fun."
"Well once a hero always a hero." Anju said. "You can stay as long as you want with no charge."
Link shook his head. "You don't really need to do that."
"It's the least that we can do for you saving the world from the moon crashing into it," Kafei replied.
Anju held out the key and Link just took it. He then walked up to his room and unlocked the door. Once he walked in he recognized it as the room he took from the Goron named Link just like him. He sat on the bed and thought about what he would've done if he was able to return to Hyrule. He probably would've married either Princess Ruto or Malon because he really didn't love Zelda in that way. But now all of that now is moot because he can't return there.
I wonder what I would do to occupy my time here in Termina. Link thought as he dozed off.
The next morning
Link woke up inside his room at the inn. For a while he just stared at the ceiling until he decided to get up. He got ready and strapped his sword and shield on his back and decided to check around to see if anybody needed any help but no one really needed help in Clock Town so he left through the southern gate and pulled out his ocarina and called Epona. Once Epona came to him he hopped on and headed to Romani Ranch. Slowly but surly he eventually got to Romani Ranch. It was evening time and Cremia was about to leave to deliver the milk to the Milk Bar. Once she saw him she waved.
"Romani has been sad that you were leaving to go back to Hyrule." Cremia said, "She'll be really happy to see you."
"Where is she at?" Link asked, "Because I need to tell her something."
"She's in the barn, I wonder what you are you going to tell." She replied with a wink.
Link blushed at the thought. Cremia just laughed and rode off. Link walked towards the barn and Romani walked out.
"Grasshopper what are you doing here, I thought you had to return to Hyrule." Romani said clearly surprised to see him.
"Well about that, I can't return to Hyrule especially with what happened here with the skull kid with the Majora's Mask." He didn't need to continue because Romani understood.
"Well you were always my hero, Grasshopper." Romani said turning as she blushed about what she said. "Ever since you helped me save the cows from the alien invasion."
"Yeah, if you need anything I am staying at the Stock Pot Inn." Link said, "I thought to come let you know that I will be staying here in Termina."
"Thank you and if you ever need anything you just let me know." Romani looked away clearly wanting to say something else. "Or you could stay here on the ranch."
Link wasn't paying any attention. "Wait, what did you say?"
"Nothing never mind." And with that Romani ran off. He watched her walk off when Cremia pulled up in her cart.
"So did you see Romani?" Cremia asked.
Link nodded his head. "Yeah, but she said something that I didn't here and she just ran off."
"Would you like me to talk to her?" Cremia asked.
Link shook his head. "No, I don't really know how she is going to respond with that."
"Well, Anju told me that you were staying at the inn." Cremia said clearly changing the subject.
"Yeah but she wouldn't let me pay for the room."
"Well you did save all of us in Termina which is no small feat."
"You're right but I don't think that it's fair that people would have to pay for a room and I don't" Link responded. "I mean I don't want to owe anybody anything."
"Well if you would like a place to stay and you want to earn your keep you could stay here and help with the ranch."
Link looked away, "I don't really want to be a burden."
"No you wouldn't be a burden at all it really is lonely here on the ranch besides me and Romani."
"But would that be alright with Romani, I mean she is the other person who takes care of the Ranch."
"She would really like it if you stayed." Cremia said with a nod. "But I will let her ask you."
"I need to get back to the Inn before it gets too dark." Link said. "I will think about what you asked."
Cremia nodded her head and she rode off as Link headed back to the Inn.
In Romani Ranch
Cremia and Romani sat down for dinner.
"Did you hear that Link is staying here in Termina?" Cremia asked.
Romani nodded her head. "Yeah, he is staying at the Stock Pot Inn I tried to invite him to stay here but he wasn't paying attention."
"Just give him time he is probably getting over the shock of him not returning to Hyrule."
"You're probably right I would probably feel the same way and if I had to go to Hyrule and not be able to return here." Romani said.
"You like him don't you?" Cremia asked.
"Yes, but I don't think he feels the same way about me."
"Do you want to know what I think?"
Romani nodded her head but said nothing.
"I think he does like you but he is shy about telling you." Cremia said, "Just give him some time."
"You're right maybe I would re-ask him tomorrow if he would like to stay here on the Ranch.
Back at the Stock Pot Inn
Link looked up at the ceiling and was considering on Cremia's proposition.
I think I should live in Romani ranch so I could be close to Romani. Link thought. Because I really like her but, I wonder if she likes me.
With that Link fell asleep.
The next morning
Link woke up to a knock at his door. He got up and quickly got dressed. Once he got to the door and he opened it he was shocked to see Romani.
"I need to talk to you Grasshopper," Romani said shyly.
"What do you need to talk to me about?" Link asked.
She blushed and then said it. "Will you come to live with me at Romani Ranch?"
Link nodded his head. "Yeah I would love that."
She looked at him, "Really."
Link nodded again. "Yes, I would really love to live at the ranch with you."
"Okay, so you will follow me back to the ranch." Romani asked hoping so she wouldn't have to go alone.
"Let me sign out of the Inn first and I will meet you outside the southern gate of Clock Town."
As Link watched her leave he got ready and headed to the front desk.
"Hey Link," Anju said. "Romani told me that you were going to live at the Ranch with her and Cremia."
Link nodded his head. "Yeah, it was nice of them to offer. I'm sorry that I didn't want to stay here."
"No it's alright the Inn is supposed to be a part time residency anyways."
"So you aren't mad that I am leaving the Inn."
Anju shook her head. "No, in fact you would be way more comfortable at the Ranch than here."
"Aren't you and Cremia good friends?" Link asked.
"Yes, me and her have been friends pretty much our entire lives." Anju replied, "But she has been pretty distant ever since her parents died."
"But you two still talk don't you."
Anju nodded her head, "Only when she gets done delivering the milk to the Milk Bar next door to here."
"Well I have to leave I told Romani that I would sign out of the Inn and meet her outside the southern gate that way we could head back to the Ranch together."
"Okay, see you later."
Link left the inn then headed to the southern gate and saw Romani standing outside the gate.
"What took you so long?" Romani asked, "You were supposed to just sign out and meet me out here."
"Sorry I was just talking to Anju."
"It's alright I was just teasing you."
Link got on Epona and pulled Romani up behind him.
"Hold on tight." Link said.
Romani wrapped her arms around his waist and they took off heading towards Romani Ranch. Link's new home here in Termina.
