Hey, I don't know if anyone is even reading these any more but I have finally returned to FF and have decided to update my stories, especially after I've read them recently and realised there is a lot of grammar and spelling issues. So here goes, 1st Chapter re-written. Hopefully I will be updating all of my older stories whilst I work on my other favourite couple Bethyl.

If you read, be sure to drop me a review to let me know your thoughts.

Please note some bits in the story may be changed (not too dramatically) or added to.

Feel free to check out my other stories.

Chapter 1

It's been four years since Summer and Seth's wedding at Seth's parent's, Sandy and Kirsten's house in Berkley. Taylor could still remember everything in from that day as if it were only yesterday. The main thing she could remember was Ryan. He had looked so perfect that day and it was almost as if no time had passed; they fitted together like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

He took her breath away then and she was sure he would still take it away today. Even the mere thought of him and his sandy blonde hair took her breath away and made her heart beat wildly in her chest.

Although it had been four years, Taylor had changed. She was no longer the girl she once was, she was older now and was following the path of a different life than what she had previously envisioned for herself. Looking over at the pool she saw her three year old son playing, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth as she took him in. She couldn't believe how perfect he was. He of course had her glistening hazel eyes but other than that, everything else was his fathers; and just like his father, he took her breath away every time she looked at him.

"Hey baby"she cooed with a huge smile on her face as she scooped up her little boy, who met her with an equally large smile on his own small face.

Pouting slightly, he stuck his bottom lip out and looked at her with puppy dog eyes "I wanna play wit' Parker" he said in such a sad voice. Taylors heart nearly broke at his small voice and she could hear the longing of wanting to play with his best friend. Parker was family and she wanted them to play together too, but what could she do? He was going to be home any minute.

Just as the thought of him coming home crossed her mind the front door opened, the tell tale sound of the round door handle slamming into the wall.

Lowering her son to the floor, Taylor patted his bottom "quickly Jamie, take your toys to your room and I'll be there in a minute okay?"she was flustered as she quickly gathered his toys and hurried him back into the house and down the hall to his bedroom. Closing the door, she leant against releasing a sigh. It was time to face him. What happened in my life for me to deserve this? she thought to herself before pushing off the door to walk down the hall to the kitchen.

As she stepped around the corner, she saw the back of the man she had become to hate with every fibre of her being and she couldn't help but be pulled into the past by her memories.

"Taylor, I got it! I got it!"Ryan yelled through the apartment as he waved the paperwork in his hand in the air.

"Taylor, did you hear me? I got it" he explained with the biggest smile on his face as he passed her the letter he was clutching. Sure enough it was the letter Taylor had been dreading. They had only been together for four weeks, surely Ryan couldn't be leaving her already, she thought to herself. In the four weeks they had spent together since Seth and Summer's wedding, they had both found themselves falling in love again. Swallowing the tight ball that had formed in her throat, Taylor forced a smile onto her face. She didn't want to upset him, especially after working so hard to get to this point in his life, but she could help but think that this wasn't fair, but then again life never is.

Ryan had applied for to big architecture company in London. He knew it was going to be the best thing to happen to him, but he hadn't thought that he would fall in love with Taylor again so quickly, but then again had he ever really stopped loving her. He saw the forced smile on her face but didn't want to face the reality that he was hurting her. He knew she would want this for him, hell she was the one that had forced him to apply for the damn job in the first place.

"They want me to start this Thursday" He told her as he looked down at the letter she was staring at in her hands.

Taylor's head snapped up at his words "but, todays Tuesday" she sputtered, "that means you'll have to leave tonight", she almost whispered the last words already knowing that their happiness was over. He would move to London, get on with his life and she would get on with hers, separately.

Taylor felt her heart was breaking into a million pieces as she watched him pack, not once did he look up and see the hurt in her eyes. Ryan purposely kept his head down, determined not to see the tears he knew was likely swimming in her eyes. Taylor could only stare as she sat on the edge of the bed they had been sharing every night since the wedding. Did he not realise that he was causing her actual pain? Of course, they had agreed at the wedding that they were going to see how things went, take things slow. However, everyone that knew them knew they would take things anything but slow and now, here she was. She knew he'd applied for this job, she had practically forced him to. She wanted him to prove to himself that some no-good kid from Chino could actually achieve his dreams. But nothing had prepared her for him actually leaving.

Watching the man in her home as he stood at the fridge, rifling through the contents, as he swiftly ran his hand through his sandy hair she realised he didn't take her breath away.

"Hey, how was work?" she asked as she made her presence known.

Hearing her voice, he turned around to face where she stood. She could see the look on his face even before he spoke and knew it was going to be one of those days. Taylor had gotten used to these days as they happened more and more over the years. Yes, these kinds of days she knew only too well.

Taylor met Scott just over two years ago. It had started so perfectly, and he never seemed put out that she was a single mother, but now it was far from perfect. Scott wasn't perfect, it had all been a cover. He'd earnt her trust easily but had turned it against her within six months of dating.

"Where is he?" Scott snarled as he looked around for Jamie whilst also making sure nothing was out of place or broken.

"In his room, playing" Taylor sighed as she stepped forward to prepare dinner. She hated to shut her son away, but she would hate it even more if Scott ever hurt Jamie like he hurt her.

As she took out the ingredients she needed, she couldn't help but jump as Scott moved to her side "good" he informed her as he reached out a hand to stroke the side of her cheek, "make sure he stays there"

Taylor shuddered at his touch but remained as still as possible as she nodded. She hated when he was like this, he made her skin crawl, and she could only hope that once dinner was ready she could make her escape to Jamie's room.

As soon as dinner was ready, she placed his plate on the table before politely handing him his mail. After he snatched it from her hand, she spun on her heel and made a beeline for Jamie's room; the place she would stay until Scott fell asleep.

Sitting on the floor as she drove one of Jamie's car up and down the ramp of his toy garage, Taylor couldn't help but when her thoughts returned to Ryan and the day she told Summer that she was pregnant with the most important person in her life.

"Summer?" Taylor cried into the phone "I need to talk can I come over". It had been nearly eight weeks since Ryan had left and whilst she was still heartbroken that he was no longer in her life, she had been trying as hard as she could to move on. However, she had just received new that changed her life.

"Townsend" Summer soothed "do you even need to call? I'm your best friend. Now get your butt over here okay"

As Summer listened for the click of Taylor hanging up, she turned to look over her shoulder before hollering for her husband "Cohen! Taylor's coming over. She sounds upset" Seth stepped up beside her and leant his forearms on the kitchen counter before snagging a grape "I am telling you now" Summer continued, "if you so much as mention Atwood, I will kick your scrawny ass, got it?"

Summer knew Seth wouldn't dare. He had seen first-hand how upset Taylor had been since Ryan had left, but she couldn't help but punch him in the arm anyway.

Seth rubbed his arm as he 'fake' scowled in Summer's direction "yes oh masterful one" he said sarcastically at his wife just as the doorbell rang.

As soon as Summer opened the door Taylor collapsed in a sobbing mess into her arms. It had taken soft murmurings for several minutes before she had managed to get her friend into the house.

Taking Taylor straight through the kitchen, Summer quickly prepared a cup of tea for them both before taking a seat next to her best friend. She could see that whatever was wrong with Taylor wasn't just about Ryan, but she sat patiently waiting until her friend was ready.

Taylor wrapped her hands around the steaming mug in front of her and barely registered the tips of her fingers burning from the heat. Lifting a tearful gaze in Summer's direction, she opened her mouth before making the biggest admission of her life "I'm pregnant"

Summer stared at her friend, the words she just heard repeating in her mind like a broken record. Seeing Summer stumped for words and mouth agape Taylor continued, "I just left the doctors. They've confirmed I'm around 10 weeks" she explained "I'm due on September 16th"

"You're joking right?" Summer questioned but winced at the sad look on Taylor's face "I'm sorry…but I mean you haven't been with anyone since Atwood right?" Taylor sat quietly watching her friend and saw the moment realisation swept over her thoughts"It's Ryan's" Summer stated as she reached forward to grip Taylor's hand in comfort.

Taylor nodded as the tears began again. It was almost a reality now that she'd heard it from someone else's lips. She was having Ryan's baby.

Summer reached forward and enveloped Taylor in a hug as she ran her hand soothingly up and down her friends back "Hey, come on it's going to be okay" Summer soothed "You've got us and we will help you through this"

Seth poked his head round the doorway and looked at his wife and Taylor who sat embracing at the breakfast bar. He'd heard everything!

"When are you going to tell Ryan?" He questioned.

Both Summer and Taylor jumped and looked over to where Seth stood before Taylor took a deep breath and straightened her spine "I've got my first scan next week" she admitted "so I figured I tell him after that…you know when I know everything's ok"

Wiping a stray tear from her cheek, she focused back on Seth and could see he was obviously torn "please Seth" she pleaded "you can't tell him…just let me have the scan first and then I promise, I'll tell him, and if he wants to be a part of this" she waved her hand over her body "he can and if not I'll just walk away" she finished before glancing out of the window towards the ocean that she could see on the horizon.

And that was what she had done, she had tried to tell him but he'd walked away, so she did too.

Taylor was sat on her son's bedroom floor just watching him, the toy car in her hand long forgotten. As she took in his blue eyes, sandy hair and dimples on his cheeks, she felt her heart swell; he was the most important thing in her life.

The door flew open without warning making both her and Jamie jump up from the toys they'd just been playing with. Jamie immediately hid behind her legs, whilst Taylor held one protective hand in front of her and the other on her son.

"This is for you" Scott spat as he threw an envelope across the room to her. Her heart was pounding against her ribcage and she was sure Scott could hear the steady 'thump, thump, thump' bouncing off the walls, but he simply turned, slamming the door behind him as he stomped down the hall.

Taylor waited for his footsteps to reach the kitchen before she allowed Jamie to move out from behind her. Stepping over his toy's Taylor bent down to retrieve the envelope from the floor. Surprise was evident on her face as she turned the ivory paper over in her hands. Noticing familiar handwriting in a pretty cursive writing on the front, she couldn't help it when her hands began to shake as it seemed that once again another letter she had been dreading could potentially change her life.

Slipping her finger under the fold, she felt the paper give before revealing a beautiful invitation adorned with gold filagree. Glancing down, she closed her eyes briefly before reading the words that had been written;
