Izuku's POV

Snakelady's Nightly Annoyance

Escapedvigil: Sleepyhobo here you go.

Carboy: What is this?

Escapedvigil: I got word that Chameleon was out and about again. After some searching I found who he has been working with since he disappeared and his hideout.

Escapedvigil: ... hold on.

Izuku pulled up the location of the hideout. After double checking it he sent it through the chat.

Escapedvigil: location sent

Sleepyhobo: I'll go get Nezu. Are you sure Escapedvigil

Escapedvigil: Positive and verified by Echo and Charlie. Check the videos in the file I sent you.

Sleepyhobo is now offline

Carboy: Are we ever going to meet these two? They are here in chat but they never speak.

Escapedvigil: They dont know what to make of you two. Trust is earned detective. While I trust you to a point they are just learning to.

Sleepyhobo is now online

Sleepyhobo: You trust us?

Izuku leaned back. Did he trust the hero and detective? Yes. He didnt trust them to a certain point. Not enough to meet them outside of the shadows but enough to send them information and have a chat. With Orion's computer skills they would never be able to track him through it.

Escapedvigil: I trust you to a certain point. More than I trust most people less than I trust those who stand by me.

Carboy: ...

Sleepyhobo: ...

Escapedvigil: What?

However before they could answer his phone dinged. A message from a different chat came in.

Unknown Number: Its hard to say goodbye.

Izuku felt the cold shiver of fear run down his spine.

Escapedvigil: Who is this?

Unknown Number: I would think you know everything about CIRO considering you attacked one of my men and the psychiatrist. However you may call me the Monk.

Oh shit. He could deal with Alex. David Abbott also known as the Monk was one of the best analysts and agent in CIRO. Few people ever see him in the field as he typically commands the mission.

Even in the war Monk had worked on his analysis skills. Being able to identify what nomu had what quirks in a few seconds was a life saving skill. In the training he had always known that Monk was holding back. As if there was something he didnt want Izuku to know.

Now Izuku was no longer an ally of the man. In Monk's eyes he was an enemy who injured several of his men. Taking a deep breath he forced himself to focus.

Escapedvigil: What can I do for you then, Monk? How did you get this number?

Unknown Number changed their name to Monk

Monk: I was unable to hack into your phone. The security that you have is incredible. The same cannot be said for your detective friend.

That explained a lot.

Monk: As for what I want with you. I want a meeting. Just the two of us. You can choose a time and place.

Escapedvigil: What makes you think I'll agree to this? It could be a trap. Either one of us could bring accomplices.

Monk: True but from what I've seen you're a man of your word. For that matter so am I. If it makes you feel any better have them watch the meet. I'm sure you'll find a way to take me hostage like you did the doctor should we try anything.

Escapedvigil: Sent a location. Tonight 11.

Monk is now offline

An amused Orion commented dryly sarcasm dripping from his voice, "You look happy. What has you so worked up?"

Izuku said his frown deepening, "Monk. Apparently he wants to talk."

Orion froze. His eyes were glazed with memory. It shouldn't have surprised him to learn that the other had dealings with the man. Anyone who worked with Alex did after all.

"When?"

"11 tonight," he answered eyeing Orion warily, "I plan to go in full gear just in case someone tries something."

"At least take the Frenchman with you," grumbled the elder man.

"What stupid thing is Delta doing this time?" Came said Frenchman's heavily accented question. He had just entered the warehouse coming back from work. He was heading to their water bottles that were strewn about.

Izuku replied as he stood and stretched, "I'm going to meet with Monk tonight," he had the satisfaction of seeing Echo choke on the water he just retrieved, "The meeting is at 11. You coming?"

Echo questioned regaining his composure, "How does he even know we exist?"

Izuku rubbed the back of his neck as he explained, "I may have broken into CIRO a little while back. No doubt Alex and Panov told him of the incident."

Echo looked scandalized at the thought. Izuku smiled knowingly as he asked, "You coming with me?"

Echo sighed, "Of course I am. If I let you go alone it will end in bloodshed."

"It will not," denied Izuku.

Echo raised ab eyebrow as he said, "If I remember correctly the first time you met Abbott. It took Alex and I together to pull you off of him."

Yeah Izuku forgot about that. To be fair they had been dealing with a traitor in their midst reporting to Shigaraki. The only one Izuku hadnt suspected was the dead.

They eventually found the traitor and Izuku killed him in cold blood. There was no room for traitors in the first run. In a time of kill or be killed Izuku made a decision.

Those who remained never spoke of his decision again. They understood things they would never have considered before had to be done then. Even killing in cold blood.

The rest of the day passed normally. Katsuki and Charlie would be patrolling together. Izuku and Echo would go to the meeting. Orion was to have comms open at all times in case someone got into trouble.

Izuku checked his gear over one last time before they left. Everything was secure and ready to be drawn in case a fight broke out. Echo was similarly dressed for combat.

It would have been easy to mistake them for being the same person. The only noticeable difference was their height. Everything else was hidden by their gear and penance for long distance attacks.

After a comm check they were off headed towards the meeting place. Echo as expected took to the rooftop across from it. His vantage point would allow him to see anyone entering or exiting the building. If it was a trap there would be plenty of time to warn Izuku.

With a weary sigh he entered the building and as expected Abbott was already there. In the middle of the meeting area stood David Abbott. He was a tall man at six foot seven inches. He had greying brown hair and hazel eyes. Tailored to him was a nondescript suit. It was open in the middle showing that he was unarmed.

Despite not seeing him for nearly a year it was still good to see the man. While not currently on the same side they werent enemies either. Now if he could only convince the man of that.

Izuku clicked on his voice changer before he said, "David Abbott also known as the Monk it certainly has been a long time."

His stance was an open one, ready to drop into a defensive stance at any moment. One hand was in his pocket the other was hanging loosely at his side. Green eyes were fixed on the man evaluating everything he did. Not that there was much to evaluate.

Abbott's own eyes watched his him closely. In his own way he was doing the same for Izuku.

After a long uncomfortable moment Abbott's facade cracked as his lips quirked up and said, "It seems you have me at a disadvantage. You know who I am but I don't have the same information."

Ah so he was going to fish for information. Too bad Izuku wasnt so stupid as to fall for such a thing. He had been trained by the best after all.

"You can call me, Delta," he responded coolly, "Anything more than that has to be earned, Monk. So I'm curious what brought you to sought me out? You could have waited for next contact. It wouldn't have been much longer."

"When one becomes three?"

Izuku nodded. There was something about the way he shifted as he asked that. Was that an old Medusa phrase? He couldn't remember. There was a lot of the first few months he tried to forget.

Abbott said his voice coloring with intrigue as he looked away for a moment, "What an interesting phrase," his sharp eyes returning to look at Izuku, "What will it take to keep you from attacking my agency again?"

Izuku replied truthfully, "I needed information only CIRO had. In order to ensure I wouldnt be interrupted I knocked out the guards. Doctor Panov was unexpected but I didnt harm him. He was just a convenient shield from being shot by Conklin."

"Sharing information would keep you out of the building and away from my men?"

"Is that all you want in exchange?" Shot back mistrustfully Izuku, his stance stiffening.

Abbott seemed to consider him for another long moment before he said, "In exchange for a working agreement. We will both share information and neither CIRO nor your band of vigilantes will attack the other. If required we will work together in a partnership. Unofficially of course. A gag order will be placed on anyone involved."

Izuku relaxed his stance taking a breath to force a sense of calm, "I can agree to this. Until we need to speak then we will avoid contact with CIRO."

Hazel eyes narrowed but still the man nodded. Izuku was going to leave when he paused. This could be the best chance he had at gaining information on the ones they hunt for.

Izuku said turning his head to look at the man once more, "There is something you can look for me," Abbott turned his head to the side curiosity shining in his eyes, "Shigaraki Tomura. If you hear anything about him let me know."

"I'll keep an ear out."
