...

The buzzing of his phone woke him up at an ungodly hour that morning. Izuku wanted to commit murder. Someone obviously had a death wish and he was going to grant it.

It was a rare moment when he was able to sleep for more than a few hours at a time. To wake him up was unforgivable. Rolling over he grabbed his phone and entered the chat.

Snakelady's Nightly Annoyance:

Sleepyhobo: Escapedvigil Why in the fuck did you prank Nezu?

Carboy: He pranked Nezu?

Sleepyhobo: That's putting it mildly. My boss has had four showers since late last night and he's still finding glitter.

Carboy: Glitter? What did he use to prank Nezu? I would have thought Nezu checked everything that came into UA.

Sleepyhobo: Everything that comes into the school through regular channels is checked thoroughly. The glitter bomb did not come in through regular channels. Which reminds me. HOW DO YOU KEEP BREAKING IN?

Escapedvigil: You woke me up because I annoyed Chaos Bear? Eraser I should hide your sleeping bag for this.

Sleepyhobo: You wouldn't dare.

Escapedvigil: Try me.

Carboy: Enough you two. Now Delta why are you antagonizing Nezu? Do you have a death wish?

Escapedvigil: If I say yes can I go back to sleep?

Carboy: I can't tell if you're joking or not.

Izuku sighed tiredly. In a way, he was joking but in other ways, he wasn't. Annoying Nezu was just him having a little fun to keep the rat on his toes. He hoped it would cause Nezu to strengthen the defenses now.

Carboy: You still there?

Escapedvigil: No detective I left.

Carboy: Sarcasm doesn't suit you.

Escapedvigil: Says you. I think it suits me just fine.

Sleepyhobo: How do the other two put up with you?

Frenchy: Practice. Delta has always been like this.

Coffeefinder: You get used to it.

Carboy: Speak of the devils...

Sleepyhobo: There is not enough caffeine in the world to deal with this.

Escapedvigil: You know you love us Eraser.

Sleepyhobo: That is a lie.

There was a snort from Echo and Izuku hid a smile behind his hand. It was true. They had gotten used to his antics over the years. They had to otherwise they would have killed each other.

Placing his phone back down he tried to go back to sleep. Unfortunately for him, he was not able to. Twenty minutes later he was working alongside Charlie on their next "gift" for Nezu.

This time Izuku would be going in alone. It was easier to get in and out without another person. Echo would not be happy to find out that he would be breaking in again.

His prank wasn't the only reason he would be breaking in. A file was being made for a few villains. They were in Musutafu and had not scampered off before he noticed them. Their mistake allowed him further build his relationship with the detective.

Once the next prank was set up he sent a message off to Katsuki. It was still early in the afternoon his friend wouldn't get out of school for another two hours. Depending on how it went he might spend time at the hideout.

Izuku then went to stretch for training. Then came the forms for using a blade. He rarely used the forms in actual combat. They were mainly to keep his mind from trailing off into dark places.

Halfway through his third form, another joined him. Immediately he switched from forms to combat. Metal clashed against metal sending sparks flying. Neither of them were wearing any protective gear. If a strike landed it would be a painful lesson.

Years of sparring together had made such a thing very unlikely. By the movements he could tell the person across from him was Echo. Blows were blocked or guided away with precision. Trying to step in around the other's guard got a powerful shove away.

Step back, swipe high. Guide away and reverse strike. Parry oncoming blow, push back.

Another stepped into the fray and it became a free for all. It was unusual for Charlie to jump in for some training. He was one who liked to be spontaneous. The unpredictability simulated battle as close as they could get.

By the time they finished all three were covered in sweat. As one they sheathed their blades and collapsed back onto the ground. Orion brought them relatively clean towels. Each wiped their faces off.

Echo said suddenly, "Henri D'Anjou."

Both Izuku and Charlie looked up confusion crossing their faces. What? Charlie's hand touched his soulmate mark almost protectively.

Echo answered their unasked question, "My name. My name is Henri D'Anjou."

Oh. That was the first time they had learned of the others name.

"Zach Eden."

The two stared at each other. Surprise and a sort of longing that he understood. They were soulmates and they had found each other. Izuku wondered about the name on his own chest.

Who was that person? Did they want their soulmate? Did they want him? Unlikely. Whoever they were they worked alongside heroes or were a hero. The only reason he knew that was because they died in the Fall. He never looked up their name out of fear of rejection. Even now he still wouldn't.

Without hesitating though Izuku said, "Izuku Midoriya. Nice to meet you, Zach, Henri."

The two returned his words with gentle smiles.

...

Nezu had a bad feeling as he went back to his office. There was something eating at him and he didn't know what it was. Checking his cameras would have to wait until he got back to his office.

Other members of his staff were all gone home or in their apartments. It couldn't be their influence. Nezu found out that it had not been Shouta or Yamada as he expected. When he tried checking the cameras but found nothing. Nezu suspected that whoever had broken into his office hacked the cameras. Or they had used vents which was the one place that didn't have cameras.

Whoever did it had to be skilled. Luck did not allow someone to bypass all of his security measures. He wanted to meet this person.

Reaching his office he felt the bad feeling return in full force. Carefully he opened the door to the office. He half expected it to explode with more glitter. But there was nothing. No sound or glitter.

After waiting a few moments he entered the office. Only to step on something and have it stick to him. There was an annoyed twitch of his tail. A sneaking suspicion filled him that he knew what he just stepped on. Using one paw to hit the lights he looked down. Sure enough, it was a glue mouse trap. On his desk, he could see a set of files and a sign that showed the symbol for Delta. He understood then. The ones who set themselves against him were the vigilantes.
