Duncan's Story
"Wow dude! This is really a first-time story! You never told us this one," said Geoff with sparkling eyes.
Owen, who was tipsy, began to shout excitedly. "Woo-Hoo! This can be AWESOME. If it's Duncan, then we can expect anything. I wonder if it's from before joining Total Drama?"
All the eyes were over the delinquent. His teal eyes shone with the chimney's fire.
Duncan smirked. "Sorry to disappoint you guys, this story isn't about me. But it's the first time story of a person you know very well. She told me about it sometime after we started dating."
Trent spat his screwdriver and gave Duncan a death stare. "YOU WOULDN'T DARE!"
"Of course I would, Elvis. And you guess correctly, It's Gwen's first-time story," said Duncan, now focusing only on the musician.
Trent pointed at the delinquent, glaring. "Gwen would never speak about that."
Duncan shook his head. "Elvis, we dated for more than a year. But if you don't believe me, just stay there and listen." He looked at Trent's angry face and smirked again.
"Wait!" Trent emptied his glass in one drink. "I'll tell the story. You'll only twist it."
"Oh my gosh, this will be good," Cody rubbed his hands, his face beaming.
The musician sighed, not sure how this happened, but it was better to tell this story himself than let Duncan do it.
Trent's Story
This story starts just after the end of the first season. We were chosen to appear in the new show, and production gave us 2 days to explore Toronto. As neither Gwen nor I were from the city. We stayed in a hotel with the rest of the contestants who didn't live in Toronto.
Even if I wasn't from Toronto, the family from my mother lives in the city. But I decided to not contact them. After all, I wanted to spend my time with Gwen. Maybe we could spend the day in the park, playing some songs and enjoying each other company. You know, something simple but heartwarming.
Annotation: Noah
"I think you pronounced wrong the word boring. I will fix it for you. You know, something boring but heartwarming. You're welcome."
It's not boring! Ok, let's not discuss if it's boring or not right now. Continuing with the story, I was ready to go and discuss this with Gwen when someone knocked at my door. It must be her who also wants to talk about today's plan, I thought.
"Hello, Babe! I was just thinking about you," I said as I opened the door.
"Ehm. Well, what a coincidence," said Cody blushing and with a sheepish smile. I stood there, trying to say something until fortunately he broke the silence. "May I come inside? There is something I want to talk about."
Annotation: Geoff
"What was with that kind of comeback, babe?" Geoff asked, laughing, like all the presents in the room.
Cody scratched his head chuckling. "Oh, c'mon guys. It wasn't like that. I was also pulling his leg."
"Hahaha, I would pay to see Elvis's face when he opened the door," Duncan said, laughing so much he almost fell from the chair.
"C'mon guys it's not so funny, is it?" asked Trent looking with wide eyes at Harold and Justin.
Harold took a drink of his margarita and explained it. "Maybe it is or maybe not. But with the concentration of ethanol we have in our blood right now. We'll find amusing any kind of joke, even the lamest ones."
"Harold, you're using again ugly words for ugly people. Please try to speak in English," said Justin raising an eyebrow.
"GOSH! What I said is that we're so drunk that any joke will make us laugh, IDIOT," Harold shook his head and frowned at the male model.
After some more bickering and laughing, Trent continued with the story.
As I was saying, Cody came to my room with a weird proposal.
"How are you, man? It's a shame you aren't competing in this season." I greeted him as I sat at a table that was in the hotel room.
Cody shrugged and sat across me. "It's not so bad. They'll pay us for appearing as guests in a spin-off. Something like a total drama talk show."
"And people would watch something like that?" I chuckled. At that moment, I didn't believe the aftermath show would be a success.
"No idea, but as long as I'm on TV, I won't complain. I mean, my fans deserve to see me," said Cody, waggling his eyebrows. "But that isn't what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to ask you about Gwen."
I was surprised. But after all, my friend also had a crush on her. So it was reasonable that he wanted to know about her. "Go ahead, but I don't know her yet as much as I want."
Then he asked me with a lewd expression, "Did you already sleep with her?"
Annotation: Cody
"No, no, no, no, and no. That isn't what happened and isn't the truth either." Cody interrupted the story in a loud and alarmed tone. "That made me sound like some kind of creep."
Trent looked at him with wide eyes. "Are you denying it? C'mon man, you sit there and ask me that just before telling me about the rubbers."
The other guests were awed or shocked by this argument.
"What I really asked was if you already hit homerun with her or not," Cody folded his arms. "And also, my facial expression was one of friendly concern, not lewd."
"Cody, you were grinning so much that I was afraid you would hurt your face," Trent said while taking a sip of his beer.
The brunette guy shook his head. "T-That's a lie. Maybe I was smiling a little, but only because I was happy to help you. I can't believe you are portraying me like some kind of pervert in your story."
"This is getting boring. We understood Cody was only acting like himself. Can we get on with the story?" said Alejandro in a loud voice.
Trent rolled his eyes. "Ok, ok. Don't make a drama about this. Let's say it happened like you say."
Cody asked me with a friendly concerned expression, "Did you already hit homerun with Gwen?"
Of course, I was stunned by the question, "What? Are you crazy? And why are you even asking me that? It's a private matter."
"Because right now will be your chance. Think about it. The day after tomorrow, you'll be again in another reality show for 4 to 8 weeks. So this is your only chance in one or two months," said Cody, looking at me with a serious expression that contrasted with the subject at hand.
"No, no, and no. I can't believe you're asking me this," I said, blushing. "It's not like I don't want to, but c'mon we're too young."
"Oh no, my friend. I'm not telling you to do it. I only wanted to give you this in case you need it," said Cody, who then gave me a pack of condoms.
I was shocked to say the least. I really didn't expect that. "What the hell, man, are you crazy? I can't accept these."
"Trent. It's better to be safe than sorry." Cody then stood up and went to the door. "Good luck, you know I support you all the way."
Annotation: Cody
"I only did it out of kindness to my friend. So stop thinking of me as some kind of pervert. Jeez."
I was about to throw the rubbers in the garbage can, but after all, Cody was right, so against my better judgment, I left the box there. Then someone knocked at my door again.
What did he forget? I rushed to the door, wanting to deal with Cody quickly to go and meet Gwen. So I opened the door and told him. "C'mon, I'm in a hurry. What else do you want?"
But instead of Cody, I found Gwen. She was looking at me with wide eyes, and the corners of her mouth downturned. "I only wanted to spend some time with my boyfriend, but if you're in such a hurry, I'll come later if I feel like it."
I . AM . AN . IDIOT. My face reddened while I was panicking. "GWEN WAIT! I thought you were someone else. You were the reason I was in a hurry."
She looked back at me with an impish smile and chuckled. "I know, I only wanted to make you suffer a little."
Gwen then entered my room and sat on the bed. I was happy just to be with her. Forget about Cody's idea. We would spend a quiet day in the park and maybe dine in a nice place near the hotel.
"I was about to go to your room," I said, leaning against the wall, "Why don't we go out to see the city?"
Gwen's face beamed. She looked gorgeous, making me blush. Then she told me, looking at the ground. "There is a place I want to visit. But I'm not sure you'll want to go with me."
"Babe, I'll go with you to the moon and back. If there is someplace you want to go, just name it. It's the CN Tower? The Royal Ontario Museum?"
She made a shy smile and gazed at me with her beautiful ebony eyes. "I want to go to The Fierce Garden."
At the time, I didn't have the slightest idea of what she was talking about. So I asked her, "The Fierce Garden? Is that a restaurant?"
She chuckled. The sound of her laughter was a wonderful sound-
Annotation: Alejandro
"Gorgeous face, beautiful eyes, wonderful laugh. We get it. You were in love. But can you skip the compliments and just tell the story? Or we'll be here all night," said Alejandro raising an eyebrow.
All right, sorry, but she was that wonderful, beautiful and fun. So let's focus on the story.
Gwen chuckled and told me, "The Fierce Garden is one of the most famous Goth haunts in Toronto. My mope and I always wanted to come but never got the chance. What do you say? If you don't want to, we can go to another place."
Of course, I wasn't sure about going into a gothic club. Back then I didn't know even the first thing about Goths or gothic culture. So I did the only thing a normal boyfriend in my place would do.
"I always wanted to visit a Goth club first hand." I lied, but I wanted to make her happy, and also, how bad could it be? "So don't worry, I'll gladly go with you."
Gwen stood up and kissed me on the cheek. "Thanks, Trent. I'll go and get ready. You should also change for something plainer."
"What's the problem with my outfit?" I asked. I was wearing my yellow shirt with the hand and camouflage undershirt. It didn't seem too showy.
"I think you should use something blue or black instead of yellow. But you look handsome either way," said Gwen, winking flirtily.
I stood there smiling and changed my T-shirt for a black button shirt I brought and my usual cargo pants. I combed my hair slick back, ready to go to The Fierce Garden.
Before going to her room, I looked once more to be sure I didn't forget anything. And there it was, the damn condom box. Gwen didn't see it, did she?
It didn't' matter. But before I went out, I still don't know why, but I took 1 rubber and put it in my wallet. Damn Cody, he really became the devil on my shoulder.
Annotation: Justin
"And not only yours. Of all the Drama brothers, the one that always had the dangerous and degenerate ideas was Cody," said Justin, while drinking his piña colada.
Cody glared daggers at the model. "HEY! That's not true. Stop making me look like some kind of perv."
The male model made a beautiful and sparkling smile before replying. "Cody, 4 words. 'Bathtube, marmalade, and Leaf blower.'"
"That was an accident, It seemed better in my head, and we promise never to talk about it again. Sheeesh! Please, Trent, continue with your story," said Cody flustering, while the rest of the guests laughed.
I was so nervous that I could feel my heart beating against my chest. It was my first time in a goth club or goth haunt as Gwen called it, and also my first official date with her. So I wanted it to be perfect. I knocked on her door, and in a moment, she opened it.
"Hello, Trent. You look great!" said Gwen, or at least I thought she was Gwen, "Let's go."
She was dressed in a black leather one-piece dress with her usual knee-length boots. Her nails were painted in black, and her usual green make-up was more exaggerated, with lines going across her temples. She was beautiful. It was at that moment that I realized how much I didn't know about her.
We went out of the hotel and called a taxi. The first thing I noticed was the driver's expression when Gwen asked to go to 'The Fierce Garden.' I could swear he was scared. And then he took us to an industrial park outside the city.
Before I could ask if this was the correct place, I saw a black sign with the club's name in blood-colored letters and a skeletal hand pointing down to some stairs, like those in the subway. I paid for the taxi, and we went on our way.
Gwen took my hand and held it tightly. She made a smirk, and together we went down the stairs. I did my best to look calm and cool. But I was really anxious, but somehow Gwen's hand gave me strength.
Annotation: Owen
"Awwwww! That's so cute," said Owen, giving a small pat on Trent's back.
"C'mon Elvis, can you try to be less cheesy," added Duncan, smirking.
Trent looked at him with wide eyes, offended, "It's not cheesy! I was really nervous, and holding her hand gave me the courage to go inside."
"It's even more cheesy than that ballad you compose for her," said Justin rolling his eyes.
Cody hit the table with his beer, "Hey! 'Teal Colored Roses' isn't cheesy. It's a beautiful song about first love and is one of my favorite songs. The keyboard was awesome."
"Thanks, man," said Trent clinking his beer with the Codester.
"Sorry to interrupt you, eh. But can you continue with the story? I'm intrigued by what you found in the Goth Club inside the industrial park," said Ezekiel, resting his head in one of his hands.
Trent blushed, surprised that someone was paying attention to the story. "Oh, yes, Sorry. We went down the stair-"
We went down the stairs and found a tall man, dressed from head to toes in black leather, with a long trench coat. His hair was long and white with a long goatee beard. But more than that, what grabbed my attention was his black mascara and the 6 piercings across his nose.
He looked at us from top to bottom, scowling. I said a timid hello, completely sure he wouldn't let us enter.
To my surprise, he answered with a warm "Hello" in a British accent and opened the heavy black iron doors. Gwen bowed politely and pulled me by the hand. But nothing in the world could prepare me for what I'll find there.
The club was built inside a huge industrial basement without windows, only lightened by white and purple lights. The place was like a gothic temple, with columns decorated with pictures of skulls and roses. Over the walls were a lot of life-sized stone gargoyles like those in movies. The music was, of course, gothic, Sioux and the Banshees, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, and also some bands that I had never heard before.
Around the place, you could see cages hanging from the ceiling. Human-sized cages with people dancing inside.
But what was most awing, for me at least, were the other patrons. Some were goths like Gwen's friends, with heavy make-up and their hair done in weird styles like mohawks, completely shaved or tinted in dark colors like blue or purple. Other patrons were completely covered in tattoos and piercings, with vampires or wolves motives. But others were using gas masks or gimps suits without zippers for the mouth and eyes. Many of them could make Duncan seem like a normal person.
Annotation: Duncan
The other guests were laughing loudly as Duncan glared at the musician. "Hahaha, very funny, Elvis. For your information, I'm very softcore, with only 4 tattoos and 7 piercings." He then ended his beer and stood up to get another drink.
I was a little nervous. Ok, to be honest, I was scared. But Gwen looked like a girl in a candy store. She pulled me again by the arm.
"Let's go and dance," she said in an excited voice unusual on her.
"I thought you didn't like dancing?" I asked in a surprised tone.
She shook his head. "I don't. But being here makes me want to try a little."
We stood on the dance floor and began to dance. I was a little stiff at the start. After all, it was my first time dancing the Damned. But looking at Gwen having fun was enough to help me relax. We danced for hours. After a while, I was also enjoying myself, getting used to the other guest and the atmosphere.
When we had enough dancing, we sat on some stools under a black gargoyle with horns, and I went to buy two drinks. Gwen wanted to taste some 'Witches' Brew' cocktail, so I was happy to oblige and try one myself.
Annotation: DJ
"Wait! Did they sell you a cocktail?" said Dj looking at Trent with wide eyes.
"Ehm, yes. I was about to tell you about that in a momen-," said Trent, surprised by DJ's attitude.
The Jamaican guy threw his arm in the air, interrupting the musician. "C'mon man. You were 16 at the time. That's illegal."
Duncan snorted at the Brickhouse with a heart. "Man, don't be so uptight. It was 3 years ago. And also, I have been drinking since I was 14, and it's not the end of the world.
"Your mother must be proud of you," said DJ, who obviously had drunk too much (Well, as everyone else).
"Stop there. If we start bringing mothers in our arguments, this can get ugly," said Noah stepping between the men.
Geoff also stood up, winking at both of his friends and putting an arm across Noah's shoulder. "The little man is right dudes. Let's listen to the end of Trent's story, and then we can discuss underage drinking all you want."
"Little man," whispered Noah, but before he could rebuke him, his phone rang, and he went to take the call.
Trent rubbed his neck with an apologetic expression. "It was a non-alcohol cocktail, sorry about the misunderstanding, DJ."
"Are you telling the truth, man?"
"Yes, I was to tell you about it."
"I … Sorry if I overreacted. I was just shocked by the irresponsibility of the club and jumped to conclusions," said DJ also rubbing his neck.
Trent shrugged, "No problem, man. We have been drinking a little too much, so don't worry about it. As I was saying"
As I went to the bar, I stepped into something and almost slipped. When I looked down, I found it was a wallet. A heavy black wallet with a skull engraved. It seemed like it had a lot of money. But it wasn't mine, so after asking in vain for the owner, I decided to give it to the barman.
At the bar counter I found a man in a gas mask and with red eyes. I leaned forward and told him in a loud voice, trying to be heard over the club's music.
"Can you give me 2 Witches' brews in a human skull?" I said tongue in cheek.
The barman answered in a dry and inhuman voice, muffled by the mask. "The brew in skull glass cost 20 dollars each or 9 in a normal glass, 2 extra dollars if you want it with rum."
"Then, you can keep your skull, good man," I said, but I thought my jokes must be very lame. Because he didn't say anything and just gave me the glasses and charged me $18 for the drinks.
The Witches' brew was a red-colored beverage made by mixing a syrup the barkeeper kept in a punch bowl with sparkling cider, orange-flavored soda, and cranberry juice. He served it in two glasses with skull-shaped ice and an orange's garnish.
Then I put the wallet on the counter, the man kept glaring at me. "Someone lost this. Can you find the owner?"
The barman just nodded and took it. Maybe he would look for the owner or maybe not, but I did the right thing, so I went back with the drinks.
When I arrived at the table, Gwen was looking at the club with a full smile. She really was enjoying the place's atmosphere and music. I remember they were playing Bauhaus' "In the flat field." I couldn't understand how she could enjoy that song.
Anyway, she turned and gazed at me with wide eyes as I gave her her glass. "I didn't though you would really buy me a cocktail."
"Your wishes are my command," I said playfully, winking.
We clinked our glasses and drank. We didn't chat too much, the music was too loud. I looked at Gwen and thought how fortunate I was. Yes, I was in a goth club in an industrial area, inside a basement surrounded by people entirely different from me, and trying to dance Nephilim. But I was with Gwen, and that was all that I needed.
In retrospect, I think I was becoming more clingy to her and more desperate to make our relationship work. If only I realized how immature and insecure I was being, maybe all would be different. But that is another story for another time.
Gwen looked at me, chuckling, her cheeks a little pink after so many hours in the club. "I can't believe it. I don't even like dancing, but I felt like dancing all night. And not only because of the club, but because I'm with you. Trent, thanks for bringing me here."
"No, Gwen, thanks for inviting me," then we leaned toward each other and kissed. We were a little sloppy, but I remember it as one of our best kisses.
Annotation: Duncan
Before the delinquent could say anything, DJ, Ezekiel, and Cody shut him down.
We then drank another cocktail and danced some more. I don't know if the other goths in the club were looking at us with contempt, curiosity or if they didn't even notice us. We were in our small wonderful world.
But as all the fairytales, it came to an end. As the place was in a basement, we didn't notice it was already so late. And when we became aware of the time, it was already 11:00 pm.
We went out of the Fierce Garden as soon as we could. I even left half of my drink on the table. The night was a little cold, but neither of us brought jackets. Worst of all, there was no taxi stop around here, and neither of us knew the number to call for a taxi in Toronto. We were in a desperate situation.
It was then when an old black Ford Mustang stopped in front of us. The interior of the vehicle was remodeled with black leather seats and a black dashboard. But scarier than the car was the driver, a pale man with black hair in a ponytail and red eyes. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
The man glared at us and asked in a deep voice. "Do you want a ride to the city?"
Gwen and I looked at each other. It was dangerous. But the prospect to be here stranded out there wasn't exactly secure either. So we held hands and got into the back seat.
Inside the car, we were silent. The driver broke the ice looking at us and saying. "Where are you going?"
"Hotel Crescent, it's on Wallace avenue 237," I replied in a neutral tone.
The man smirked sinisterly and replied, "I'll take you there. Also, thanks for returning the wallet. You won't believe it, but here in Muddy York, people are never that honest."
I was astonished by coincidence, and Gwen smiled at me proudly. "So the barman gave it to you?
The man took something from the passenger seat and showed us a gas mask. The true coincidence was that he was the barman, and it was his wallet.
After that, we talked some more, his name was Damien, and he had been in the scene since the 80s. He told us some stories and also gave us his number. I never thought that finding that wallet and returning it would end like this.
Annotation: Ezekiel
"That is the power of Karma. You did a good thing, and the universe compensates you. Good for you," said the prairie boy giving thumbs up.
We reached the hotel way after midnight. We avoid Chef and get to the front of Gwen's room.
"Well, it was a crazy day," I said, blushing and rubbing my neck.
Gwen didn't say anything. She just leaned forward and kissed me on the lips. It wasn't as passionate as the ones we had in the Fierce Garden, but at the same time, it was way more wonderful.
She blushed and gave me a mischievous smile. "Yes, but I loved it. Thanks, Trent, it was a date I'll never forget."
Then we heard the heavy steps of Chef coming out of the elevator. Damn, he surely was looking that no one was breaking the curfew. There was nowhere to hide. I didn't know what punishment would be if I was caught, but knowing Chef, it wouldn't be pretty.
But suddenly, Gwen pulled me to her room before Chef could see us.
We were there, looking at each other eyes. I was lost in Gwen's beautiful black eyes. Then she said in a low voice, almost a whisper. "Do you want to spend the night here?"
I just nodded and kissed her again.
Trent's story, the end.
"And then?" said Geoff, with wide eyes and an empty bottle in his hand.
Trent was red as a tomato. "And that's it. That is how we end our first date. I won't give any more details."
"Ohh! C'mon man! Just tell us if you did it or not," Cody grinned while asking.
"I think he already told us enough. Just give him a break," said DJ, who felt bad for the musician.
"If you want to hear more, ask Duncan. After all, he seemed to also know the story," said Trent while emptying his glass of piña colada.
Duncan chuckled and smirked. "Oh, that? Sorry, Elvis, it was a lie."
Trent blanched. "You don't mean-"
"Yes, Patsy didn't tell me anything about you and her intimate moments. It was just an innocent joke," Duncan shrugged while stepping toward the drink's table.
"Youuuu, bastard!" Trent stood up and took his chair, ready to throw it, but was held by Cody and DJ before he could do something else.
"C'mon Trent, don't be angry. It was a great story, and you didn't say anything embarrassing," said Cody, using all his weight to stop the chair.
"Yes, man, violence never solves anything, don't let alcohol control you," said DJ while holding the musician.
Trent stopped his struggle and let out a big sigh, "you're right. But I'll remember this one Duncan, I'll remember this one."
The musician put his chair on the ground and sat again while Duncan and Owen gave some more drinks to everyone.
"Well. After all the drama, I think it's time for my X-treme story," said Tyler pumping his arm into the air.
"Sorry man, but if you don't mind, I would like to go next," DJ blushed a lot while saying this.
Everyone in the room gasped. DJ, who was the more prudent and reserved about his love life, was about to tell his story.
Author Notes:
And surprise, it was Trent's story. For this one I tried two things. I hope you enjoy them. First I played a lot with the unreliable narrator, Trent doesn't know a lot of things, so he explains a lot and assumes a lot, and there are more misunderstandings.
Also, the story is a first date story making emphasizes the differences between Trent and Gwen. In contrast with Geoff's, it's written intentionally to be more serious, adding some of the feelings and insecurities that in the end culminated in Total Drama Action.
Now answering the reviews.
amit. avrashmi: Probably Duncan or DJ already asked him 1 million times, but you're right, he probably was in problems, or maybe no one recognized him with his stocking mask. Also, sorry, but Duncan story will wait until the next time, but I hope you enjoyed Gwen's role in this one.
Fernanda15fa: Thanks, I really have a blast writing this story. I usually put some comedy in every fic, but this one was one of my first tries in a full comedic story. So I'm glad you enjoyed. I don't know Bridgette or Geoff, but Bridgette's mom will never forget that anniversary.
Total Simaniac: Yes, honestly, the anniversary could end on a really sad note, but he was lucky and it ended in the best way. Also it was neither Duncan nor Tyler, surprise! ;)
Noahtxd: Thanks a lot, I try to give him every one of them their own voice. It wasn't Duncan's time yet, but he will surely share his story in a future chapter.
Zekefan: hehehe, I don't know, but either he had or not his first time, he will surely share a story with the rest of the cast.
As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you like it, no forget to review.
