DISCLAIMER:
Hello, here it's the fifth episode. Will DJ talk of his love life? And what happened in his story?
WARNING: This story has a Crack ship, no more spoilers. I'll do my best to make a good story, but if you hate this kind of thing, I recommend you skip this chapter.

DJ's Story
"Are you sure, dude? You never talk about these kinds of things," said Geoff, that dropped his hat from the shock.
"Yes, I'm sure. I feel bad for hearing Trent's story after he was tricked like that," said the Brickhouse with a heart after frowning at Duncan, who put his tongue out as an answer. "So, it's the least I can do. But before I start, please pass me another piña colada."
Owen ran for the drink. "It's the last one."
"Thanks, man," said DJ, drinking the whole glass in one sip.
"Hey! Easy man. It's not water," Noah raised an eyebrow at the Jamaican guy.
DJ cleaned his mouth with his arm and smiled. "Thanks, I'm good. I only need it for inspiration."
"If you don't want to do this, don't do it, man. Your feelings are enough," said Trent who didn't want DJ to do something he would regret later.
However DJ just smiled, "thanks, but I need to tell a story either way, so better sooner than later. It was 2 years ago during Christmas."
Well, it was some days before Christmas. After the end of Total Drama Action, Momma and I were a success on television with the show 'Momma's Heaping Healthy.' Offers kept coming from all kinds of sponsors, and I even spent some days visiting Duncan in Ontario.
Annotation: Harold
Harold rubbed his chin. "Wait a minute. It wasn't that infamous cooking program-"
"Infamous and delicious," interrupted Owen drooling.
Harold adjusted his glasses while glaring at the big guy. "Yes, the infamous and delicious program that caused the death of 23 people?"
"HEY! That's not cool, man!" Said DJ with a sad expression on his face. "It's true that one guy died after making Momma's savage super sandwich and eating it in one go. But the other people died in strange and bizarre accidents not related to the show."
"Yes, dude. Like the man that was found dead in a closed room with one of your Momma's cinnamon rolls. But the more mysterious part is that the roll wasn't bitten," said Geoff with wide eyes.
"It's true. They said that to this day, the room is haunted, and you can smell cinnamon close to the 22:30, the hour the man died," said Duncan in an eerie voice.
"STOP THAT!" shouted DJ, shivering. "I hate those ghost stories. And the one telling the story it's me. So let's drop the theme of ghosts or dead people in my Momma's show, ok?"
Ehem, as I was saying, I came back from Ontario and went to the house we were renting in the city. It was a big and luxurious house, maybe a little too big just for us. But you know, Momma was happy with it, so I was happy with it.
Anyway, as Christmas was coming, the Total Drama Network had the idea of making a special seasonal episode. The problem was that Momma didn't really have many seasonal recipes. She usually makes turkey and rum fruitcake, and man, they're delicious! But they're only two dishes and a special 1-hour episode needed more than that to be interesting.
So the Network suggested inviting a special guest from Total Drama. So we began to look for candidates.
The problem was that I only had a close relationship with a few cast members, and none could be part of the show. Courtney and Duncan were in Ontario with their own project, Geoff and Bridgette were in Vancouver on an Aftermath Christmas special. And Harold was in the middle of the Drama Brother's first tour.
Annotation: Zeke
"Wow, I didn't know you and Harold were homies, eh," said Zeke, raising his toque.
"Neither did I, since when you and Doris were good friends?" asked Duncan raising an extreme of his unibrow.
DJ blinked a couple of times before answering. "Since like ever, man. You didn't notice?"
"Yes, DJ here and I had been sharing joys and sorrows on every season we competed. Destined to be on the same team every time. That is the kind of hardships that forges a friendship," Harold folded his arms and smiled proudly.
"Gwen and Heather were in the same team every season, and they hate each other guts," said Trent while taking a sip of his beer.
Everyone in the room laughed at the comeback.
Harold shrugged and replied. "That just the exception that proves the rule."
DJ looked at his empty glass. "Anyway, we have been friends for a long time. And as I was saying-
And as I was saying, the Network also had problems getting hold of other campers on such short notice. Forget about people close to me. They couldn't get Owen, Heather, or any fan favorite. But, on December 12th, they called Momma and me to tell us the guest star would be Gwen.
Gwen, it blew my mind. She was one of the most famous campers, but I wasn't that close to her. I'm grateful she chose me on her team on Action, but she was eliminated very early on the show. I would prefer to eliminate Heather, even if Gwen threw the challenge. Anyway, it was a great chance to get to know her better.
Momma wasn't that happy. She didn't know nor care about the gothic subculture, but she didn't like girls who use too much make-up. I tried to explain to her about goths, without success. She didn't want a weird ghost-like girl prying into her kitchen.
Man, I didn't want to keep arguing with Momma, so I just let it be for the moment. The rehearsals were programmed to start on the 16th, so we had 4 days to prepare the menu, choose our outfit, and make some of Momma's spice to use on the episode.
At last, the day came, and Momma and I were on the set waiting for Gwen. The main show was to be recorded live, so this was just some rehearsal to ensure all would be ok.
"I hope that creepy dead-looking girl at least knows how to cook. If not, I'll kick her out of my kitchen," said my Momma looking angry at the door.
Annotation: Geoff
"And Miss DJ really mean it, dudes. One time I was at DJ's house preparing some drinks, and she didn't like that I was wearing a hat in her kitchen with my shirt open, so she literally kicked me out. My butt hurt for a couple of days after," said Geoff with a pained expression.
"Don't worry Momma, everything will be alright. Gwen is a great girl," I told her. She was getting anxious, and that wasn't good for Gwen. Momma doesn't like people that make her wait.
Suddenly she came into the set. My jaw dropped, and my Momma huffed and smiled. "It wasn't as bad as you told me. Now tell me which one is Gwen?"
Two girls came from the studio entrance, dressed in red hotpants and red and white tops, with Santa hats. I knew them from the Killer Bass. They were Katie and Sadie.
"Hello, DJ," said Katie smiling and waving.
"Hello DJ's mom. I'm Sadie, and this is Katie. I'm so excited to meet you."
Katie held Sadie's hands. "ME too. I am a BIG fan of Momma's show."
"What a coincidence, Katie. I am also a BIG BIG Fan of her show," said Sadie making a big smile.
"EEEEEEEEE!" both squeed excitedly.
Momma glared at them, I was sure she was flattered by them praising the show but also annoyed by the screaming, so I interrupted them.
"Katie? Sadie? I mean, I'm also glad to meet you again, girls, but where is Gwen?"
"Oh, I'm sorry DJ. Gwen had another appointment, and she couldn't come," said Sadie looking at the ground.
"But when she told us if we could cover her on the Xmas special of 'Momma's Heaping Healthy,' it was like Oh MY GOSH THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!" said Katie putting her hands on her cheeks.
Sadie also put her hands on her cheeks. "Of course, we accepted. It was like a dream come true. We came back to television on an awesome cooking program."
"Sadie, that was exactly what I was about to say," said Katie to Sadie, making a big smile.
"It's like we're totally in the same wavelength," Sadie said. I realized what was coming and looked worried at my Momma.
"EEEEEEE!" both squeed again. I must admit that at that moment, I was beginning to lose my patience.
Annotation: Justin
The male model rolled his eyes. "There is something in the way those chicks scream that drills into your brain. If you are too close, you'll be hearing them for hours. And I talk from experience."
"Girls, GIRLS! SHUT UP for a second, will you? Do you know how to cook?" asked my Momma, frowning angrily.
That was what I wanted to avoid. If they gave the wrong answer, my Momma would kick them out of the set.
"I don't want to brag. But Katie here is a great cook. Especially her ice creams are delicious," said Sadie looking tenderly at her friend.
Katie blushed, "Oh Sadie, you're too kind. I know how to cook some recipes, but I'm just a beginner, especially compared to DJ. Even then, I love cooking for my friends and family."
Man, I felt like they took a weight off my shoulders. That's the kind of answer my Momma wanted to hear.
"Girl, I like you. You're humble and honest, just like me," said my Momma, smiling. But my relief was short-lived. "And you girl? Do you know how to cook?"
I panicked. I should have answered before them, but I panicked, and Katie spoke before me. "Oh, no. Sadie doesn't know the first thing about cooking."
"That's so true. I'm an eating expert, but I can't cook even a fried egg," added Sadie ignoring Momma's frown.
My Momma folded her arms and talked in a stern tone. "I can't allow a novice in my show. The tall girl can stay, but you get out of my kitchen!"
I face-slapped. That was what I was afraid of. Katie and Sadie hugged each other, pouting and with their eyes filling with tears.
"Oh no, Momma, please don't throw me out," said Sadie, sniffing.
Katie was also sniffing. "Yes, Momma. I need her. I can't cook without Sadie. She's like, my emotional support dog."
"Are you calling me an emotional support dog?" said Sadie, distressed.
Katie looked at her with wide eyes, stuttering. "O- Of course not, Sadie. That wasn't what I mean, ehehe."
Then I had to go to their rescue. "Momma, not everyone knows how to cook from the beginning. Maybe she's a quick learner. Give her a chance. Please."
Momma looked at me, then looked at them and sighed."You know something, girl. You reminded me of when I was your age. You can stay in my kitchen, but you'll learn how to cook."
"THANKS MOMMA! EEEEEEE!" Both Katie and Sadie jumped together, squealing joyfully.
"BUT YOU HAVE TO STOP SCREAMING LIKE THAT!" shouted my Momma, making Katie and Sadie fall silent immediately.
Both bit their lips and nodded. And like that, we started the rehearsal. Katie was as good as Sadie said, and sadly the same was for Sadie's skills in the kitchen. I spent all the first day teaching her how to crack an egg.
Annotation: Cody
"That is so true. Do you remember during the first Drama Brothers tour that they sent us some chocolates Sadie made?" said Cody grinning.
Trent covered his mouth, raising both eyebrows. "How could we forget about it? Harold cracked a tooth trying to eat one."
Some of the presents laughed while others looked with worried expressions at the nerd.
"It wasn't cracked, GOSH!. I just hurt the periodontal ligaments inside my gums because I bite too hard. Anyway, I can assure you. Those weren't chocolates made for human consumption," said Harold, nodding.
"But they have their uses. I uncap my beers with one of them during the tour," said Justin smiling beautifully.
DJ glared at them. "Well, for your information. Sadie learned the basics of cooking during the rehearsals-"
Sadie learned the basics of cooking during the rehearsals and improved a lot. My Momma wasn't used to receiving help in the kitchen aside from me, but she was getting to like them, especially Sadie. That was quite a surprise because Katie was better at cooking.
I was also closer to Sadie, as I was teaching her the basics, so on the 20th, something unexpected happened.
"DJ, can you come with me for a minute?" Sadie asked me. I went with her while Momma explained to Katie how to prepare the turkey.
We went out of the set, and there the short girl came near me, saying in a low voice. "DJ, I want to give a Xmas present to Katie. But I need your help."
She looked at me with her big eyes, hoping I would help her. And c'mon, it was only going with her to choose a present. What could go wrong? So I accepted.
I went back with her back to the set and spent the next 2 days visiting some malls in Toronto. I don't know how she did it, but she always found how to avoid Katie.
Annotation: Harold
"It's not unexpected. Sadie is smarter than most people give her credit. Yes, she seems like an airhead with her fashion sense and squeeing all the time. But when you know her better, she's a great watcher and great conversationist. I know because, for 4 weeks, she was my closest friend in the Killer Bass," said Harold adjusting his glasses.
At last, we found the perfect gift, a small silver medal with a cute bunny engraved. Any girl in the world would love it. Well, maybe except for Izzy and Heather. But any other girl surely would.
"Yes it's perfect!" said Sadie excitedly, pressing her cheek against the store window, then her smile turned into a sour frown. "OH NO, it's too expensive. I can't afford it."
Oh man, her heartbroken expression moved me, so I had to do it. "How much are you short?" I asked.
"50 dollars." She answered, sobbing.
"If it's only that, I can lend them to you. Here, take it." I took my wallet and gave her a $50 bill.
She put her hands over the bill and shook her head. "No, I can't accept it. I mean, you already had done so much coming with me."
"Don't worry about it, girl. I want to do it. And also, it's Christmas, time to share," I told her, smiling.
Her face beamed, and she went into the store to buy the medal. It was wrapped in pink gift paper with pink ribbons. Yes, it was kind of pink overload, but she was so happy that I didn't care.
Then the days passed very quickly, and at last, we filmed the program. It was a success. We not only prepared my Momma's turkey and fruitcake, but also some ice cream made by Katie. And it was as delicious as the girls said. The only problem is that you could sense some problems between Sadie and Katie.
Annotation: Geoff
"Wait a minute, dude! And what happened with the show?" asked Geoff, finishing his beer.
"We filmed it, and it premiered on Christmas Eve. As we went bankrupt in January, it was the first and last Momma's Heaping Healthy special. It was a great success!" said DJ, shrugging and making a sad smile.
"Wow, dude, that was awesome! Why is that I never heard about it?" Geoff said, rubbing his chin.
"Maybe It was because of that accident Harold mentioned early, eh? You know about the 25 people that died eating food from the program," said Ezekiel, scratching his head.
"Not cool, man, that's not what happened. They were 23, not 25. Only one of them died after eating one of Momma's recipes, and none of them ate food made in the show," said DJ enumerating the reasons with his fingers.
"That's cool and all, but, what happened with the girls?" asked Justin, looking intently at DJ.
Trent looked at the male model with wide eyes. "How unusual that you're interested in something that isn't yourself."
Justin just shrugged. "What can I say, those chicks were my fans, and I'm always thinking in my fans. Also, I like Christmas stories."
DJ smiled, "well as I was saying, the recording was a success, and after filming-"
After filming the show, the staff made a small Christmas party. But Katie didn't stay because she wasn't feeling ok. I was worried because she seemed pretty down, but I didn't want to leave my Momma alone.
But then Sadie came with misty eyes. "DJ, I need your help." She told me with a cracking voice. And man, I'm weak against woman's tears.
I put my hand on her shoulder and looked into her eyes. "Of course. Is it related to Katie?" I didn't know why, but I had a hunch it had to do with her.
"Yes. You see, for her surprise gift, I had been ignoring her. And now she's mad at me and doesn't want to be my friend ever again," said Sadie, sobbing.
"That's awful. You just wanted to surprise her," this situation was just too cruel. "Is there any way I can help?"
Sadie nodded and took out the same pink present box we bought and a pink envelope. "Can you give her this? It's an apology and her Christmas present."
I frowned worriedly. Of course, I wanted to help her, but I couldn't leave Momma alone, "Sorry but-"
"DEVON JOSEPH, I don't remember raising you to ignore a girl that is asking for your help. Didn't I teach you to be a gentleman?" Said my Momma glaring at me.
"But Momma, I don't want to leave you alone on your great day," I told her, rubbing my neck.
"I'm not so old to need my boy to be watching over me. If you can help that sweet girl, go and do it. I'll stay here with Sadie," she told me. And as always, Momma was right.
I smiled, took the gift, and ran toward the hotel they were staying in. It was already late, but with a bit of luck, I could arrive there before Christmas.
Annotation: Tyler
"Dude, that was so EXCITING. But, your name is Devon Joseph?" asked Tyler with wide eyes.
"Eh? Yes, my name is Devon Joseph. Did you think my name was DJ?" replied DJ raising an eyebrow.
"Well, yes. Honestly, I thought your name was DJ," said Tyler, nodding.
Ezekiel raised a hand. "Me too, eh?. I think it was DeeJee, you know, one of those modern names."
"Me three. I never give too much thought to your name. I mean, with people having weird names like Alejandro, I thought your name was Deejay" said Owen chuckling nervously.
"Alejandro is a great name, come from the Greek Aléxandros that means the man that repels his enemies," said Alejandro glaring at the big guy.
"Weren't you a bitcold? You two were in DJ's team, and neither knew his name," said Noah shaking his head in disappointment at Tyler and Zeke.
"It's not so weird. DJ is one of my best pals, and I didn't know his full name until the Aftermath show," said Geoff, smiling proudly.
"I don't know what to think about that," replied DJ with a sad expression. "please, Duncan, pass me another glass. Meanwhile, as I was saying-"
As I was saying, I went to the hotel and knocked in room 23. Just a moment later, the door opened, and Katie looked at me with wide eyes."DJ, what are you doing here?"
I made a shy smile. After all, this was kind of awkward. "Sadie, send me. May I come in?"
Katie quickly let me into the room. It was a fancy hotel room, with a full dinner prepared for two people.
"This is for you," I said and gave her the present, blushing. I don't know why, but I was very embarrassed even if the present wasn't from me but from Sadie.
She took both and opened the envelop, taking out two letters written on pink paper. Man, these girls love that color.
After a moment she gave me one of the letters, it was addressed to me. It said:
Dear DJ:
I can't make it to the Xmas dinner with Katie, and I don't want her to spend Christmas eve alone. Can you please dine with her? I already paid for it. It's my Christmas present for you.
Sadie.
So, what could I do? I accepted, I mean it was my Christmas present.
"Oh MY GOSH! It's so beautiful," said Katie, looking at the medal. She then jumped and hugged me. "Thank you, DJ."
I blushed. She was lighter than I expected. After twirling a moment, I break the hug. "It wasn't from me but from Sadie."
"I know," replied Katie, looking at the floor. "But in the card, Sadie said that you helped her."
I smiled. After all, it was true. "Yes, I did it. I'm glad you like it."
After that, she put on the medal around her neck, it looked beautiful on her. After some chatting, we started to dine, but I was nervous. Yes, Katie and I talked a lot while in Playa des losers after my elimination. But after the second season, we lost contact.
Luckily Katie's very talkative, so there were no awkward silences. After a delicious roast beef and some glasses of champagne, we were laughing and remembering our time on the show.
"You have to see Chef's face when we returned to the resort and told him that Ezekiel was missing. It was the funniest and scariest moment in my life. I wish you and Sadie were there," said Katie, laughing. I don't know why, but hearing her laughing made me happy.
Anyway, it was almost midnight, and Sadie didn't come, so I began to get worried about her.
"It's getting late. Maybe you should call Sadie," I told Katie, "I mean, what if she's lost in Toronto?"
Katie chuckled. "Don't worry, Sadie and I know Toronto like the back of our hand. She's surely in her home right now."
"What? Are you two from Toronto?" I said, dumbfounded. "Then why are you staying at this hotel?"
"We aren't staying here. Sadie told me to come here, that she would give me my Christmas present in this room," said Katie, looking embarrassed at the floor.
I was confused. "Then, you two weren't quarreling?"
"Of course no, we're BFFFL. We never quarrel. Well, except when she tries to be a smarty-pants. I mean, anyone can get lost in a parking lot for 3 hours," said Katie nodding seriously.
"I'm glad to hear that. You know, girl, you seemed a little down these past days, and I assumed you were fighting." I was so relieved that they were still friends that I just said that without thinking about her feelings.
She then started fidgeting with her fingers. "Maybe I was just a little jealous that she was like with you all the time and stuff."
Then it hit me. I mean, c'mon, I am a bit slow with these kinds of things, but I'm not dumb. That was when I realized that this was all Sadie's plan. The medal wasn't Katie's Christmas gift. I was her Christmas gift.
And man, I didn't know what to say. I mean yes, Katie's a great girl, she loves animals and is pretty attractive. I had a great time with her but never thought of her like that.
"You shouldn't be jealous, after all, we were looking for your present. That Sadie's a great girl. But there is another girl I'm interested right now," I said, smiling.
I felt terrible, just looking at her sad expression. "Oh, you have? Ehem, sorry, what I want to say is that, of course, you have."
"Katie, I know this is kind of sudden, but I want to know you better. Would you like to go with me to have some crepes next Sunday?" I told her looking at the table, too embarrassed to look at her face.
Katie covered her mouth and looked at me with wide eyes. "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh! You don't mean the girl you like-"
She was so excited that she didn't end the sentence. I replied, only nodding with a big grin.
"OH MY GOSH! Of course, I accept," In a moment, Katie rushed from her seat and hugged me again. "It's as Sadie said. It's a Christmas miracle."
I hugged her, and then as if all was prepared, it began to snow, a wonderful white Christmas.
DJ's story, the end.
"And we spend the night at the hotel. Then I escorted her to her house the next day. That was the first time I became a Christmas present," said DJ, folding his arms and nodding proudly.
"And, did you do it or not?" asked Duncan wiggling his eyebrow.
DJ glared at the delinquent. "Not cool, man, a gentleman has no memory, and my Momma raised a gentleman."
"And what a fine lady is your Momma. She really helped to set your date," said Alejandro while walking to get another beer.
"What?" Of course not," said DJ in a distressed tone. "My Momma didn't know anything. She wouldn't help in setting a date for his son."
"I hate to be the one saying this, my friend, but there is more than 95% of probability that your Momma was in cahoots with Sadie. That she was lecturing you about helping a girl in problems just at that moment is too much a coincidence," said Harold adjusting his glasses.
DJ put his elbows against his knees and grabbed his head. "I can't believe it. These past 2 years, I believed it was a coincidence."
"Don't be like that, eh. I'm sure your Momma knew and wanted the best for you," said Ezekiel, giving a glass with liquor to the Brickhouse with a heart. "Drink this. It's moonshine. It'll make you feel better."
"Thanks, man." Said Dj taking a sip and then smiling. Mmmm, it's really good. Tell thanks to your gramps."
"And you know what will make you feel even better," asked Cody making a big grin.
"My Xtreme first-time story?" asked Tyler, fist-pumping.
Cody waved his finger, smiling smugly. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. No, Tyler my man. The Codster first-time story. I hope you're ready because here come tonight's winner."
"That's it Codemeister, show us what you got," said Trent that was obviously a little drunker than before.
All the guests keep looking at Cody, some with interest, some with disdain, and others with enthusiasm. This story must be good.
Author Notes:
This time I wanted to try a Christmas story and also change the way I usually write my stories. Instead of the classic beginning/development/climax/conclusion I usually use, I tried a 3 acts story. Did you enjoy it? Or it was too weird?
And for those wondering why Katie? Ok first of all because I wanted to write the BFFFL, and also because I loved Total Drama Life and wanted to make a shoutout, so I decided to use a ship the author used in that story (DJ x Katie)
Now answering the reviews.
amit. avrashmi: I hope the ships didn't disappoint you. Also, Harold and LeShawna? It's a fine guess. I wonder if his story will be with her ;).
Fernanda15fa: Hahaha, yes Duncan is a troll, poor Trent, but we will have to wait a little before Duncan story. I hope at least Trent story was entertaining.
Total Simaniac: Honestly I thought a lot if made the story with Gwen or not, but in the end my brother (A big Gwent fan) persuaded me to do it. Also as you said Halloween was just the right season to post it.
As always, thanks for reading, and I hope you like it, no forget to review.
