Chapter 24

Marleen and Cindy were chatting happily while setting up decorations and blowing balloons. Today Kira turned seven and Marleen wanted her daughter to have a wonderful day. The party was not set to happen for another five hours, but Marleen wanted to start early to make sure everything was perfect. The twenty-eight year old had managed to convince Huey to order a bouncy house. She remembered how against he was it.

"Do you know how dangerous those things can be? No way Marleen. Can't you find something better?"

"Please Huey? They're so much fun. Kira and the other kids would love it. Besides we will all be monitoring in case something happens."

"No way, besides I'm not going to have my daughter jumping around with a bunch of sweaty boys."

"And so, the truth comes out." Marleen laughed.

"Huey those boys are not even thinking about girls at the moment. Come on?" She said wrapping her arms around the men and kissing his neck.

Over the years of being with the man she had learned a few tricks to convince him. Sex was always a good choice but in reality, all one had to do was kiss the man in his most sensitive spot. His neck. That always left him flustered.

"Come on Huey. Do it for Kira." She said while sucking on his neck.

"For Kira." He said huskily.

"For Kira." She repeated.

Marleen laughed at the memory. Everything was looking good. It was hot for February. Usually everyone would still be sporting a coat, but here she was wearing a simple pink shirt with white capris. Marleen looked over at Cindy. Her fashion had not changed that much over the years. She still wore basketball jerseys time to time. Today the woman wore a black Nike basketball Jersey and leggings with two white stripes on the side.

"Mar, where do you want these balloons?"

"We can put them there."

She watched the woman walk towards the direction she had pointed at. Caesar was going to be at the party, and she hoped both her friends would rekindle. Marleen could see that they both still loved each other. Their main issue was communication. Caesar at times could be overprotective of the woman. Cindy's neighborhood is not completely bad but there have been a few robberies and car jackings here and there. The woman makes sure to keep everything locked at night and to keep a gun by her nightstand. Unbeknownst to the blonde, Caesar tends to keep watch outside her house every chance he gets. This is something both Marleen and Huey know but have kept quiet on. Cindy, on the other hand, is a jealous woman. She hates seeing the man hanging out or talking to another woman. This was something they both need to talk about and work on. It was not healthy for their relationship, but Marleen knew they could overcome their issues, unlike her and Huey. Caesar has only been in love with one woman and that was the blond standing in front of her.

"Everything looks good. I think it's time to wake the kids up and get them dressed."

Marleen smiled.

"I hope everything works out between you and Ceeze."

Jazmine awoke from the best sleep she had in ages. She did not once wake up from a nightmare. She was more than relived. Jeremy not once plagued her thoughts and, because of this, she had a feeling today would be a great day. She walked into the next room where Sam and Mia were having breakfast.

"Good morning sunshine, we got you some food." Said Sam.

"It's not much, but please eat." Mia added.

Jazmine sat down and was handed a blueberry muffin with an orange and cup of coffee.

"Black with three spoons of sugar." Sam said as she handed the hot drink to her.

Jazmine smiled before taking a sip of it.

"Here is the floor plan again. I wanted to run it by you one more time." Mia said.

Jazmine looked over the plan once more. The television was on and broadcasting the news along with clips of a protest caused by the unfair judgment that had took place a few days ago.

"So far there have been no reports of the flower maidens, surprisingly. Police is still keeping an eye on . They suspect that the woman may still attack at any time." The news cut to downtown where women were rioting.

"We are currently downtown by the courthouse. There are over 200 women here."

Plenty woman had signs with the words 'Justice for Rowan' and 'Still not asking for it'. The reporter interviewed one of the women.

"I'm a victim of sexual assault and there is nothing worse in this world to see your abuser walk free with no consequences. I forever have a scar both mentally and physically, but he gets to live his life like nothing happens and that is not right. It is time people start to recognize what is just and what is not. I don't wish death on anyone, but I truly hope Jackson Finister gets what he deserves."

Sam turned the TV off and turned to look at her mentor. The woman was in full concentration mode. A bunch of clowns could walk in and start juggling puppies and she wouldn't even notice.

"I think we should give them a sense of comfort before acting so that-"

"We act tonight."

Both girls almost spit their coffees.

"Tonight!" They said in unison.

"Ja-Jazmine, don't you think it is a bit soon? We just arrived two days ago and the police is on high alert." Sam said.

"And we barely have an escape plan ready. If we go in now there is a high chance you won't make it out." Mia added.

"I just have a feeling today is my lucky day." Jazmine said nonchalantly as she ate her muffin and continued to look at the house plan.

Most of Kira's classmates had arrived. Marleen participated in their mother's idle chit chats before excusing herself to go greet her parents and brother.

"Where's our little princess?" Her mother asked.

In that moment Kira came running towards her grandparents and uncle. The little girl was wearing a baby doll pink shirt with a silver glittery skirt. Her hair was tied in one afro puff with a cute pink bow to compliment her chestnut brown hair. Her grandfather lifted her up and span her around, causing the little girl to laugh uncontrollably.

Marleen smiled. Her parents loved Kira so much. Riley and Mr. Freeman had just walked in as well. Mr. Freeman had turned 90 recently but he did not let his old age stop him. The man sported a cane he had customed made. The cane had diamond studs along with a gold rim. He wanted to live his last years looking like a slick pimp.

Marleen greeted both Mr. Freeman and Riley.

"Grandad!" Kira excitedly shouted as she ran up to her great-grandfather.

"Lil baby! Your great grandaddy got you a lil something something." He said as he pulled out a fifty-dollar bill.

"Don't let your parents use it." He added.

Marleen laughed.

"No worries, but I should hold it for her." Marleen said as she placed the money in her wallet.

"Huey is in the office right now, but he will be back in an hour." Marleen informed both of his relatives.

"You would think that with his own business he'd take the day off. That's Huey for you."

"Yeah, but he wanted to finish a few plans for the next charity event we are planning. Could I get you something to drink Grandad?"

"You're so sweet, sweet-pea. I'd take some gin on ice."

"Grandad you kno yo ol' ass aint posed to drink."

"Shut up boy. One drink aint gon kill me."

Riley and Marleen watched the man wobble to the living room along side Kira and her parents.

"You better water that shit down." Riley said before following suite.

Huey sat in his office looking over old photos of his childhood, specifically all the photos that had Jazmine in them. He was supposed to finalize the next charity event but he became distracted.

He stumbled on a picture of the girl holding a black baby doll. He remembers her always insisting they play house.

"Huey you should hold your son. I think Huey Jr. wants his dad."

"Jazmine, I don't have time to play such childish games." I said with a scowl on my face.

"Come on." She whined. "You never play house with me."

I closed my book in frustration.

"Fine." I spoke. "That's not my kid."

"What! No Huey that's not how you play-"

"I want a DNA test. I know you cheated on me while we were together."

"What! Huey I would never-"

"And that child looks nothing like me. Just because you named him Huey doesn't mean he belongs to Huey."

Jazmine sighed in frustration.

"You are no fun Huey Freeman!" And with that she left my room with the doll in hand.

"I should have been nicer to you and spent as much time as I could with you. I wish I had stopped you from moving. If I had then you never would have…you never would have…". He said as he traced the picture with his hand. "I'm so sorry Jazmine."

While Jazmine rested, Mia and Sam where in charge of scoping the area one more time until nighttime came. They had to do a headcount of every cop and cop car along with coming up with the best escape method. So far there were five squad cars by the house and two down the street on each corner. They would need to find a way to minimalize the number of cops in the streets.

"What if something big happened, like a bank robbery or something? That would require all their time and energy." Sam said.

"Yeah, but how would we pull that off? We barely have a plan now what makes you think we can stage a heist?" Mia said.

"We really needed more time to plan. If Jazmine goes in tonight, she will be arrested. There is no way she can escape." Sam said with concern in her voice.

"You heard her. She is set on tonight and once Jazmine makes up her mind she follows through with it. All I can think to do is see if we have any connections that can help us disperse some of these cops."

Sam sighed.

"How about the sunflower killer? I think he has connections by a cousin of his."

"Not here in Woodcrest." Mia brought up.

Sam sighed again.

"Then I am out of ideas."

"Let's go back and try to change her mind."

Both girls drove away in silence.

Huey entered his house to find an angry Marleen standing directly in front of him.

"Where the hell have you been?" She hissed.

"Sorry, it took me longer than I anticipated."

"I appreciate all you do for the community, but it is your daughter's birthday. Couldn't you just finish it tomorrow? You pretty much missed the whole party."

"I'm sorry, where is Kira?"

"She's in her room with Kayvon. Caesar and Cin left to talk, and Grandad and Riley left an hour ago. Pretty much everyone is gone."

Huey felt horrible for missing the birthday party. He didn't mean to lose track of time, but he got lost into the memories of her. If Marleen found out what truly kept him away it would disappoint her further.

"You owe me and Kira a nice dinner." Marleen said as she walked away to continue cleaning.

Huey walked upstairs to greet his daughter. She was in her room playing with her new kitchen set.

"Kayvon, I think the pizza is ready."

"I got the juice." Kayvon said.

Huey smiled as he watched the two children act like chefs.

"Daddy!" Kira excitedly shouted as she ran to her dad.

"Where have you been? You missed Grandad limboing. Uncle Riley was yelling at him, but I think he did great."

Huey laughed.

"Sorry baby girl, Daddy was busy at the office, but I will make it up to you. Would you like to go to the playground tomorrow?"

"Can Kayvon come too?"

"Yes, Kayvon can come too."

Both kids cheered at their future play date.

It was finally time. Mia and Sam had no luck in talking Jazmine out of it. The plan was to distract the cops by setting off a few car alarms and making it seem like some of the cars were being burglarized. The plan was to set the alarms off while Jazmine infiltrated and killed Jackson. There was a cemetery nearby and they planned to regroup there. Jazmine would need to escape on foot to get there and Mia and Sam really hated that idea, but that was the best area for their escape because it was covered by a forest and was directly outside the area.

"Jazmine, we do not need to go through with this tonight." Mia said.

"Ladies, I'll be fine. I have done this plenty of times."

"But not with cops involved." Sam reminded her.

"Have some faith in your master. I will be fine. Something tells me tonight is the best night to do this. Besides I want to leave Woodcrest as soon as possible."

Mia and Sam looked at one another before hugging the young girl one last time.

"Please come back to us." they said.

"I will."

And with that Jazmine was ready to infiltrate the house.

Cindy and Caesar had taken Kayvon a few hours ago. Now, Huey and Marleen watched the news as their daughter slept soundly in her bed.

"Cops continue to surveil the area at Mr. Finister's estate. So far it seems that everything is calm, the police have confirmed that there have been no signs of vandalism and attempts on Mr. Finister's life so far."

"Do you think someone from the group will do something?" Marleen asked her husband.

"I don't know but I have a feeling they will, although it probably is unlikely that it will be Jazmine."

Marleen watched her husband, and something told her that he hoped she was the one to do the killing. If she was, he would have a chance to see her. She hoped this was not the case.

Jazmine crawled into the vent. She was dressed in all black in order to blend in with the darkness of the house. It was past two am and everyone in the house would be in their beds by now. The vent led directly to the room she needed to be, but before exiting she had to scope and see how many cops were in the home. She counted three. All of them in the living room. Perfect. That meant she would have alone time with Mr. Finister. She sneakily hopped out and took the time to watch the man sleep. How dare he sleep peacefully knowing there were women losing sleep because of the disgusting things he did to hem. She gaged and taped his mouth and hands.

"Wake up." She softly said in his ears.

The man continued to sleep.

She slapped him awake and he began to scream, but they were muffled.

"I contemplated if I should kill you while you slept, but I figured you do not deserve such a peaceful death. Instead, I should make you suffer." She said as she chopped off one of his fingers.

He screamed in agony.

"That pain you are feeling does not compare to the pain those women will continue to carry." She said as she chopped another and another.

"How does it feel?" she asked in a sadistic tone.

The man was now fingerless and in tears.

She sighed.

"I wish I could play with you a bit longer, but it is time we end this."

The man shook his head. He looked at her with pleading eyes. Her favorite look. She loved seeing the fear overcome their face.

"Rot in Hell you filthy bastard."

She slit his throat and watched the blood flow from his nape to the covers. What blissful fun it was to watch his soul leave his body. She placed her signature rose along a card with her initials on them and began reminiscing to her previous kills. She was startled out of her thoughts by a knock on the door.

"Mr. Finister unlock your door."

"Fuck." She mumbled.

She had to get out and fast. She climbed a dresser in order to reach the vent.

"Mr. Finister I will kick this door in."

'Almost there.' She thought.

The door was kicked in just as soon as she had lifted herself up and closed the vent.

"Fuck! I need everyone to scout the premise. No one leaves this neighborhood!"

Mia and Sam were successful. They managed to distract a few cops by setting off a few car alarms and setting fire to two cars. Now they hopped Jazmine could reach them at the cemetery in time. It was a 2 mile walk from the house and they feared Jazmine could not make it out of the neighborhood in time.

"Please Jazmine. You need to make it."

They turned on the car radio and listened to the news.

"Just in! If you live in or near Woodcrest Hights, police are asking you remain inside. The roads are being shut down and no one is permitted from leaving and entering the neighborhood. If you are caught outside your home, you will be arrested."

"Jazmine must be on her way." Mia said as she shifted the car into drive.

The left the headlight off to blend in the dark.

"Come on Jazmine. Please make it." Sam mumbled under her breath.

Jazmine dunked under a trash bin as more cop's cars drove by. She was almost at her destination. The best thing to do was cut through a few back yards in order to avoid the cops but she had to do so with out being spotted by the residents. She jumped in someone's yard and stuck to the walls. She continued to do so until she was out of the neighborhood. They chose the cemetery because she had to cut into a forest to get to it. Jazmine ran into the forest and not long after that she spotted the cemetery where Mia and Sam were parked. She got in.

"Jazmine!" Both girls said relived to see their master.

"No time for cheering. Let's go!"

Mia drove out of the cemetery and into the back roads of the forest.

"This is the first and last time we go in with a bunch of cops." Mia said.

"Agreed." Jazmine and Sam said.

Marleen and Huey watched in shock as they showed footage of the police searching and arresting a few people near Woodcrest Hights.

"Do you think he's dead?" Marleen asked her husband, but right before he could answer the news anchor spoke.

"Just in! Jackson Finister is confirmed to be dead. It is not clear how he perished, but the police have confirmed it was at the hands of one of the most notorious flower maidens. Let's go to Maria Santiago who is on the scene. Maria what has the police believing it was one of the flower maidens?"

"Hello George, we just spoke to one of the investigators and he confirmed to me that he found a rose along with the initials of the J.D killer. Police are not sure if the work was actually done by them or a copycat. So far they can confirm that the murder relates to the flower maidens."

Marleen was in shock. Her fear was becoming reality. She turned to look at her husband and there she saw it. There was hope in his eyes.

"Jazmine is here." He spoke in a soft breath.

AN: And here I am again. Ironically one semester away from my bachelor's degree. I had written the first half of this chapter years ago, but I never had time to finish it. But just like Drake said, "better late than ever but never late is better." I hope you all forgive the long wait and I hope this chapter was worth that wait. Please review. I love reading what you all thought of the chapter. I am planning one or two chapters after this. Merry Christmas!
