Hello everyone~~ It's Mitsuri again, back for another installment of my weekend column! I hope your week was filled with love, just like mine was. And if not, I hope you find love next week! Normally, I have a hard time figuring out what to put in my article. It is hard rejecting people; everyone is so lovely, I want to share them all with you, my amazing readers.
Luckily, this time that isn't the case! Perhaps you remember an interview I had a while ago, with a trio of high school boys. Tanjirou, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, a group of unlikely friends. I spotted them today roaming the streets of Harajuku once more, only this time they had a girl with them! Instantly, I fell in love—is she in a harem? Are they her knights? Is she the boss of a gang? No matter what the answer is, I can only love them more!
Inosuke and Zenitsu are dressed as they were the last time we met, a wild man and a lovelorn decora. Tanjirou is dressed a bit differently today, his style more gothic Lolita, with swatches of black and highlights in white. He looks like a Victorian Earl. It perfectly matches the girl next to him. Covered in layers of frills, the girl blinks at me with bright pink contacts. There's something doll-like about her and all she's missing is a toothy grin and she'd be a vampire. As it is, there's a face mask on her mouth with a big red x on it. Maybe she's an idol, surrounded by her bodyguards?
No, no, Mitsuri! I must stop fantasizing and go back to the interview! Obanai's already looking grumpy from the corner of the room, probably because he can't take any photos yet. I need to get this back on track. Just like last time, I convinced them to follow me back to the studio. It was a little easier this time because they know me. All four of them are sitting across from me—Zenitsu looks excited while Inosuke is bored. The girl glances around the studio, curiously, and Tanjirou is whispering something quietly to her.
"You look cute!" I tell the girl. Immediately, she glares—ahh, even the way she's glaring at me is lovely.
"She does, doesn't she?" Tanjirou agrees. There's a bright smile on his face and he's looking at the girl adoringly.
"Nezuko looks beautiful no matter what she wears!" I can almost see the hearts in his eyes—Zenitsu is in love! Perhaps he will get another clip to add to his collection! Oh, I mustn't think that. He might be successful.
"Why am I here?" Inosuke grunts, just like he had last time, and ahh, it's lovely how he doesn't change!
Luckily, the other two haven't forgotten what I do. Zenitsu is already preening, having been selected for an interview a second time, but I turn my focus instead on the new girl. "Who are you?"
She growls. Perhaps she is going for a vampire aesthetic, or maybe she's also a wild one like Inosuke. Tanjirou flushes a bright red and wraps an arm around her. "Sorry, she has a sore throat and it's hard for her to speak. This is my sister, Nezuko,"
Siblings! How wonderful! I have five myself and the love of a family is a wonderful thing. That explains why they're matching. I wonder if their younger siblings dressed them both up or if they chose it themselves. Tanjirou says the clothing is Nezuko's choice this time. If I were to go to their closet, just how many different styles would I find?
Not liking to be left out, Zenitsu adds, "Nezuko has an amazing sense of fashion! That time when she was wearing that white dress, with her long pink stockings!" He clasps his heart, almost swooning into his seat. "It was like a dream come true."
The yumekawaii style. A very dreamy cute type of clothing! Considering the similarities with fairy kei and how Tanjirou looked last time, I think it would look very good on her too!
Unable to contain himself, Tanjirou chimes in, "Nezuko is always cute, even when she's dressed like a prince!" Clearly a doting brother, he rattles off about the one time his sister wore a more aristocratic look, complete with vest and trousers. Apparently, she looked like she walked off a historical painting. When I point out that style is more handsome than cute, he shakes his head. "Nezuko is cute."
Who am I to argue with a brother's love? She will always be cute in his eyes!
"And she's smart and beautiful," Zenitsu agrees, counting off the compliments with his fingers. "Like that time when she wore that outfit from Larme."
He is of course talking about Larme kei, based on the Larme magazine. It's a style that focuses on intelligence and girlishness. There is a small group devoted to this aesthetic and some would argue that it isn't a style at all. However, I will not discriminate between styles, these different forms of love!
Inosuke has been silent this entire time and I turn to him. I wonder, what does this wild, natural man think would look good on Nezuko? Initially, he refuses to answer, either grunting or looking away. When Tanjirou and Zenitsu gang up on him, the former asking him if he never thought Nezuko was cute and the latter saying he'll kill him (a joke, I think), he aggressively slams his hands on the table. "Fine!" he shouts angrily. "She looks best in nature!"
Of course! For a man like him, a Mori style would be best. It's a more natural style, based on a love for the forest and simplistic designs. Maybe I was wrong before, and his own style is a Mori style too! If I could pull off his boar head and dress them alike, it would be a beautiful photoshoot, I'm sure.
Nezuko doesn't say much during this interview. Her throat must be really bad, which is tragic. I would have loved to hear her voice, I'm sure it's as cute as Tanjirou describes it. Instead, over the course of these three boys fawning over her, she turns redder and redder. It is hard to be idolized so, but be strong Nezuko! It's their way of showing their love.
In order to find out what her favourite styles are, I pass her a pen and paper. It might be cyberpunk or visual kei or even cosplay! There are so many different styles to choose from. However, what she writes surprises me.
It's whatever my siblings are wearing.
For a moment, I am astonished. What a display of sibling love! A brother who dotes on his siblings and will do anything for them. A sister who's more than happy to follow the whims of her family. It is so pure and lovely and there is nothing more that I can ask for.
Well, actually, there is one last thing I ask this group before dismissing them. After hearing about all these amazing styles, I have an urge to see them all. Luckily, despite there not being any photoshoots today, Obanai is here. I really must thank him, he really likes joining me on my interviews for some reason.
I will have Nezuko dress up in each of the styles we discussed, matching her with each of these three boys. It will be such a beautiful spread! Look forward to it, my lovely readers!
