Hildegard's Apology Part Five

That following morning Princess Hildegard along with her family woke up and ate a quick breakfast. After which they then boarded a flying coach and headed out to Enchancia. It wasn't long before they arrived at King Roland's castle.

As the coach landed Hildegard composed herself. 'I really hope they'll forgive me,' she thought to herself. Her stomach felt as if it full of butterflies. She then felt a hand on her shoulder, it was her mom, Queen Ingrid.

"We're very proud of you, Hildegard" said the Queen.

Hildegard smiled faintly before the coach driver opened the door. The Freezenburg Royals then stepped out to meet King Roland.

"Henrik, what a pleasant surprise" went Roland, "I see you've brought the whole family with you."

"Yes, I hope you don't mind" asked Henrik.

"Not at all" replied Roland, "I take it there's something you need to discuss?"

"Actually, Your Majesty," spoke up Hildegard, "I'm the one who needs to talk to you, along with Sofia and Amber, if possible. Are they inside?"

"Why yes they are" replied Roland, "why don't you all come in."

"The Freezenburgers followed the Enchancian King inside the palace and into the throne room.

"Bailywick" asked Roland, "could you have Miranda and the kids come to the Throne Room? Princess Hildegard would like to talk to our Family in whole."

"Of coarse Sire" replied Bailywick before heading out.

Hildegard felt the butterflies in her stomach increasing as she waited. Soon, Bailywick walked back in alongside Queen Miranda. Prince James and Princesses Amber and Sofia followed right behind them.

"Henrik, Ingrid" said Miranda, "it's good to see you. I see you brought your daughters."

Hildegard and Astrid bowed before Miranda.

"Hi, Hildegard" mumbled Sofia with a soft smile.

"Humph, hello, Hildegard" went Amber flatly before fanning herself.

"Now, you said you'd like to discuss something with us, Princess Hildegard" asked Roland.

"Well, yes, sort of" replied Hildegard nervously, "I've been thinking about how I behaved at the Enchanted Animals Park yesterday and well..." She swallowed. "Well, I thought I'd ow you three an apology. The way I acted yesterday was inexcusable and I'm really sorry for ruining the trip by trying to get that Pelicant egg."

Roland nodded in understanding but Sofia still looked slightly upset while Amber looked unimpressed. Hildegard then walked up to the younger Enchancian Princess.

"Sofia" spoke Hildegard softly, "I think I ow you the biggest apology. Not just for yesterday but for what I told you the prior day." She sighed, "specifically when I told you that Roland wasn't your real father..."

"What" gasped Miranda and James simultaneously.

"So that's why my Sof was so upset yesterday" said Roland with disappointment in his voice.

Hildegard looked to her feet in shame before looking back to Sofia's eyes.

"Sofia" went Hildegard, "what I said was absolutely wrong. It doesn't matter whether or not you're adopted. Roland is, and will always be, your real father. What I said was horrible especially when I told you to just forget I said anything. I know that that's not something you can just forget."

Hildegard felt her eyes getting wet and she struggled to hold back tears. "Sofia" she spoke, "I am so, so sorry I said those awful things to you. Is there any way you could forgive me?"

Sofia smiled warmly. "Oh, Hildegard" she said, "I've already forgiven you."

"Really" asked Hildegard.

"Of coarse" replied Sofia, "because I always knew that you had a big heart."

"Dose this mean we can still be friends" asked Hildegard.

"Certainly" replied Sofia before she hugged Hildegard.

"Thank you" said Hildegard with tears running down her cheeks. "I p-promise I'll never be so horrible to you or your family again."

"Well" went Roland, "I think you've shown all of us you've learned your lessons from yesterday, Hildegard. And you've made up with my Sofia, therefor I forgive you as well."

"And as long as you keep your promise" went Amber, "and always treat my little sister with respect, for now on, then I can forgive you as well."

"Thank you, Amber" said Hildegard.

Amber chuckled. "Here" she said, handing a handkerchief to Hildegard, "I think you need this."

The younger Freezenburg Princess choked out a giggle before taking the handkerchief and dabbing her eyes.

Princess Astrid walked up and stroked her younger sister's back. "I'm so proud of you, Hildy" she said.

"We all are" added Queen Ingrid.

Hildegard smiled before choking out another giggle. "You all keep making me cry."

The two Royal Families both shared a laugh.

From that day forward things began to go much better for Princess Hildegard. That coming Monday, she apologized to Miss Elodie as well as to the other Princesses who forgave her. She even volunteered to stay after school hours to help clean up Royal Prep grounds in order to further make up for what she did (something Miss Elodie greatly appreciated).

All of the other Royal Prep students were impressed by how much Hildegard had improved since that dreadful Dads and Daughters Day trip. She had become much kinder, more humble, and far more respectful in just that new week alone.

In fact, Princess Clio was so moved by Hildegard's new behavior that she decided to postpone her costume party until after her friend's grounding was over.

Once her grounding was over, Hildegard was able to spend more time with her friends, including Sofia, outside of school. Her friendship with the younger Enchancian Princess only grew stronger from then on as well.

Thus, Hildegard grew up to be a very kind and happy princess.
