A week after Mike and Mimi's visit, Austin had decided that Ally's parents deserved to know about their only child's wedding. The only problem being that recently, over the years, Penny and Lester's '' friendship'' had deteriorated into silence and death-glares. They loathed each other with a passion. This was in part due to Lester refusing to pitch for Ally's first ca for her 21st birthday. Instead, he had offered to take her to a Speedway and not use coupons.

Penny was also not very supportive of Lester's decision to quit Sonic Boom and choose to pursue his love of painting Giraffes doing people stuff.

As Austin came from a relatively stable family background, however, Ally had made it exceptionally clear that he was to not get involved int elling her parensta bout her and Austin's engagement.

However, being the guy he was, Austin had used his and Ally's next concert in Key West as an excuse to force the divorcés to spend time together. Penny wouldn't be able to resist photographing endemic Floridian wildlife; including the rare Key deer. Lester too wouldn't say no because of a free vacation, and time with his daughter.

But, being the mild scatter-brain he was, the man had forgotten to tell Ally about his plan. However, she did find out one Saturday afternoon.

'' Are you out of your mind?!'' Ally shrieked, reaching for the nearest object to her to throw at her fiancé.

'' Ow, what, all I did was take some initiative'' Austin winced, failing at dodging the apple Ally had just launched at his head.

'' Austin Monica Moon, my parents cannot be on vacation together'' Ally said, her teeth gritting, eyes widened.

'' It's a weekend getaway to Key West. It's hardly a trip to downtown Fallujah'' Austin defended.

'' Austin, vacations were a huge part of my parents' divorce. You've just signed all 4 of us up for 3 days of torture; over-frugality, obscure animal facts and snipes'' Ally said, shaking her head. '' I remember my family taking a trip to Orlando to go to Disney World. My refused to stop anywhere and by the time we got to the park we all had UTIs.''

Austin tried to stifle a snicker. '' It'll be fun Alz. I mean sure, your parents can't stand each other these days, but they still love you endlessly, and who could blame 'em?''

'' Mm, true'' Ally grumbled, her arms folded. '' But you're forgetting about what happens whenever my parents come to our concerts.''

'' And that would be?''

'' My mom uses it as an opportunity to promote whatever book she's just finished writing, remember Texas? The stadium that we performed at got half of its revenue from her book sales. She derailed our show. I had fans coming up to me afterwards asking me if they could get her email address.''

'' Please, lots of people still showed up just for our music. And besides, extra cash for that place isn't a bad thing.''

'' True, but remember what my dad did?''

Austin sighed. '' He auctioned off a lock of your hair from when you were a kid.''

'' Exactly! This can only end badly. We may end up banned from Key West'' Ally said, her tone becoming more dramatic as she grabbed her husband by his shirt.

'' You're overreacting. Your parents were married for over 10 years, they can stand each other for a few days.''

Ally sighed, then relaxed her shoulders. '' Fine, I trust you. But if they end up at each other's throats, then you have to let me redecorate our place.''

'' No Ally, please, anything but that!''

'' Nope, too late, hubby-to-be. I'm thinking paisley cushions and hot pink couches'' Ally smirked.

'' Fine, I can live with that-

'' And our pancake mix gets replaced by an organic whole grain version.''

'' Too…far.''

'' Oh no. If this ends badly that's the tip of the iceberg Austin. You know that empty shelf in our room?''

'' Yes?'' Austin asked nervously.

'' I'll use it as a bookshelf.''

Austin felt fear. Now he knew the severity of the situation he know found himself in.

'' Ah, the Keys. My favorite vacation destination in the world'' Lester said, exhaling deeply as he arrived with his daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law, in front of the Radisson hotel they would be staying at.

'' Yeah…fun'' Austin grunted, as he dragged the group's luggage inside like a pack mule.

'' Oh by the way Austin, I brought my thunderizer 2600. I plan on making out with everything in the room'' Lester winked, as the group approached the lobby.

'' Hi, 3 for Moon'' Austin smiled, looking at the receptionist in front of him. The man was ancient. His scalp containing faint wisps of what were once hairs, the sides of his head also beginning to, bald. His face however resembled a 90-year-old testicle. He looked as if he shouldn't have been able to make it through a long sentence.

'' What?'' the receptionist asked.

'' Moon'' Ally said.

'' Zoon? My grandson had one of those, he liked that Chris Brown fella'' the receptionist said. '' But who are you.''

'' Oh, I see what's going on here'' Lester smiled, and pushed his traveling companions out of the way. '' MOON!''

The receptionist winced. '' Ya don't have to yell. Here's your keys.''

'' Works every time'' Lester smiled, putting the card-shaped key into his pocket.

'' Dad, that poor guy almost cried. You should say sorry.''

'' Why? That guy's 3000 years old. I'll be that he can't even remember what he had for breakfast. ''

'' Just like you to harass someone in the service industry'' came a familiar voice from behind him.

'' Penny'' Lester responded, turning around.

'' Lester. I see Austin got us both to be here. What'd he use to bribe you?''

'' Free vacation and a chance to use my new thunderizer drill. Shower gel mounted onto the wall by a bracket won't stop me.''

'' Ugh, this is almost as bad as Orlando'' Penny sighed.

'' Hey, I got us to a CVS in time. Ugh, just like you to overreact to minor inconveniences Penny…''

Austin and Ally looked at each other as the two older people bickered.

'' See what I mean? They hate each other. I've seen better reactions between new stars for A&A Records'' Ally hissed.

'' Look, this can still go well'' Austin said, pursing his lips and looking to his right.

'' Oh my God what'd you do?'' Ally gasped.

'' N-nothing. I-I swear'' Austin stammered.

'' Austin…'' Ally growled.

'' I, may have booked them into the same room without them knowing.''

Ally wasn't one to make a public scene, but now seemed like an exception to that rule.

'' Have you lost your mind?!'' Ally shrieked.

'' I didn't think it would be this bad. And again, its only for a weekend, how bad can it be?''

Four hours later, Austin wished he hadn't suggested what he had in the lobby. Right now, the quartet were busy enjoying their free dinner at the hotel's restaurant.

'' 50 dollars for a steak? I should've brought my smoker'' Lester half-joked, Penny just shaking her head in sadness.

'' I don't miss you Lester'' Penny deadpanned.

'' What a coincidence, I find you loathsome.''

Austin looked at his fiancée, and motioned for her to follow him out onto a balcony that overlooked the Atlantic ocean. '' Sorry,'' he smiled.

'' Excuse me?''

'' I shouldn't have sprung this on you without your knowing. I'm sorry Goose-pickle.''

'' Its fine, I may have overreacted'' Ally shrugged.

'' Not at all. If I had thought this through, we could've just sent an email, goal accomplished.''

'' I get that. I mean, I don't know why you expected this to be as peaceful as when we told your mom and dad.''

'' Hey, I have an idea'' Austin grinned.

'' Oh no. The last idea you had, resulted in us being kicked out of the Holiday Inn in LA.''

'' Hey, sex in the pool wasn't such a bad idea, you also seemed to enjoy it'' Austin winked.

'' Until that kid thought that an animal was drowning and splashing in the pool.''

'' Hehe, yeah. That was kinda wild. But this idea's good, I promise.''

Ally sighed. '' Alright, hubby-to-be, what've you got for me.''

'' We sing to them. You know, get them to chill out a bit? I remember you told me back when we were touring in Europe, that your parents would always stop fighting whenever you sang or played music. It was like they forgot about their fighting and just enjoyed being with you. I saw a stage back at the restaurant, we brought our guitars with us anyway, why not get some practice in for our show?''

'' That's actually not a bad idea. I'll go fetch them, you find the manager.''

'' Got it, hey! What do you mean actually?''

-x-

About 40 minutes later, Austin had found the restaurant's manager and easily convinced her to let him and Ally perform. The manager supported the idea because she was sure that having one of music's biggest power couples perform, would generate huge amounts of publicity and revenue.

The platform had been set up with two stools and two microphones with their stands. Ausitn was

As Austin and Ally approached the platform, they noticed that Lester and Penny weren't fighting. They weren't talking either, but at least they weren't fighting.

Ally sat down and grabbed a microphone. The second she started talking, the entire area began to listen.

'' Hey everyone, so, we two special guests in the audience today, my mom and dad'' Ally said, pointing to her parents.

Austin spoke into his microphone. '' So usually we sing our own songs, but tonight I thought we'd pay tribute to one of our favorite singer/songwriters; Michael Jackson.''

'' This song is called Human Nature, we hope you enjoy our cover'' Austin smiled, as he began to strum, Ally began to sing.

'' Looking out Across the night-time. The city winks a sleepless eye Hear her voice Shake my window Sweet seducing sighs'' Ally sang, not taking her eyes off Austin for a second.

''Get me out Into the night-time Four walls won't hold me tonight If this town Is just an apple Then let me take a bite'' Austin added.

'' If they say, "Why? Why?" Tell 'em that is human nature Why, why does he do it that way? If they say, "Why? Why?" Tell 'em that is human nature Why, why does he do it that way?'' Ally warbled, her parents beginning to smile.

'' Reaching out to touch a stranger, electric eyes are everywhere. See that girl, dhe knows I'm watching. She likes the way I stare'' Austin added.

'' If they say, "Why? Why?" Just tell 'em that is human nature Why, why does he do it that way? If they say, "Why? Why?" (Do you really like me to be around?) Tell 'em that is human nature Why, why does he do it that way? I like livin' this way, I like lovin' this way'' the two sang, in unison.

'' That way (The way it was.) That way (The way it was.) Looking out Across the morning The city's heart begins to beat'' Ally sang, standing up.

''Reaching out I touch her shoulder I'm dreaming of the street If they say, "Why? Why?" Tell 'em that is human nature. Why, why does he do it that way? If they say, "Why? Why?" (Just tell me you like me to be around.) Ooh, tell 'em why, why does he do it that way?'' Austin finished. Looking into Ally's eyes, the pair then locked lips.

The crowd burst into applause, none louder than the two previously feuding parents.

'' I can't take it anymore'' Austin said, looking at Ally, as he broke away.

'' Take what anymore?''

Austin took the nearest microphone. '' Everyone. This is something Ally and I have tried to keep private, but, I'm not hiding it. We're engaged'' Austin breathed, Ally beaming at him.

The pair hopped off the platform and approached Ally's parents.

'' We, wanted to tell you in private, but, cat's out of the bag'' Ally breathed, shrugging.

''That's amazing sweetheart'' Penny said, hugging her daughter tightly, whilst this was going on Lester stared at Austin.

'' You take care of her you hear me.''

'' I will. You have my word.''

'' Good. Now then'' Lester extended his hand. '' Welcome to the family Austin.''

Ah drama. I love it. Thanks for reading everyone, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. So about the whole Lester/Penny thing. I felt like they'd be good for a laugh if they were on less friendlier terms. It also makes for a great plot point in my opinion. But, other than that, I only have one thing left to say…stay safe, and stay awesome!
