A/N: Hello again, my lovelies. I'm really sorry that I haven't updated in months, but I've been dealing with a lot of personal problems that have left me in a poor state. I'm not saying that I'm better now, but I'm trying to get things done. I'm getting help from a new, great person in my life and I'm getting happy again, but yeah, things are weird right now. Here's an update as penance and I can't promise that things are going to be happy with this one. Enjoy!
OOOOOOOOO
Sadie woke up to find herself lying next to Emmett, his arms wrapped around her and her face pressed against his chest. She blinked once and closed her eyes again, feeling bad for what she had done to cause this thing to happen. It felt natural for him to hold her, it felt right for her to wake up in his arms, but it felt so wrong too. A couple that had been together for decades had been torn apart because of her and Sadie couldn't find complete peace in Emmett's arms knowing that.
"You're awake," Emmett said against her hair.
"I'm a mess," Sadie muttered against his chest. She sighed and opened her eyes again. "I probably look like a disaster."
Emmett shook his head and rubbed his fingers against her back. "You're anything but a disaster. You're gorgeous." He lifted a hand and pushed back a tangled strand of hair that had fallen in her face. "You move around a lot in your sleep, Sadie." His brow furrowed. "Bad dreams?"
"Constantly," Sadie admitted, looking into his eyes and wishing that she wasn't so easily pulled into them.
A slow smile pulled across Emmett's lips as he caressed her cheek. "I can make you forget about the bad dreams for a bit…"
"Emmett," Sadie began.
Emmett lowered his face towards hers and pressed a tender kiss to her lips. Sadie melted against him and Emmett gently pressed her back against the pillows, but kept the kiss tender, not taking it as deep as he had the night before. His hand trailed down her side and back up again, tracing the curves of her and Sadie shivered against him. The giant vampire pressed one final kiss to her lips before resting his forehead against hers and looking into her hazel eyes.
"You drive me wild, Wolf Girl," he whispered to her, breathing in slowly through his nose.
Sadie traced her fingers down his chest and sighed. "It's only fair. You drive me insane, Emmett."
Emmett smirked. "Do I?"
Sadie nodded. "All the damn time."
The vampire's hand shifted on her side and slid over her stomach, stroking it. "I could drive you really insane, if you'd let me, Sadie."
"How?"
Emmett's hand slid under her shirt and farther up until it touched her breast. Sadie gasped as his fingertips brushed over her flesh, but he didn't close his hand over it. His golden eyes watched hers as he laid next to her.
"Well?" he asked, that smirk still on his face.
Sadie hesitated, her thoughts chaotic, but she gave a small nod. Emmett's hand moved over her breast and Sadie closed her eyes as he fondled and caressed her supple flesh, feeling strange sensations stir throughout her body. Emmett tugged at her tip and pinched it until she cried out, making her clap a hand over her mouth to smother the sound.
"I love all of your sounds," Emmett told her as he resumed palming her breast. "I wonder what other sounds you make when you're in the mood…"
"You're never going to find that out," Sadie muttered, peeking at him from under her lashes.
"Aren't I?" Emmett pushed her shirt up with his other hand, exposing both of her breasts and he eyed them with a sudden hunger in his eyes. "I guess we'll see in the future. The near future, hopefully."
Sadie made a small sound as the vampire lowered his face and closed his mouth over the breast that he wasn't playing with. She felt his tongue swirl over her sensitive flesh and him gently sucking on her, causing stronger sensations to stir inside of her. The wolf gripped the sheets at her side with one hand and tangled the fingers of her other in his hair as he continued to work over her breasts.
"Fuck," she moaned, squirming under him.
OOOOOOOOO
Emmett felt Sadie tug on his hair and squirm under him as he moved his lips and tongue over her breast. He feasted on her flesh like a man starved and his pants were growing uncomfortably tight as he listened to her breath heighten as he continued to play with her chest. His gums ached as he felt her blood rush so close to him and heard her heart race under her ribs, but he didn't bite her. He had worked too hard to lose her to a vampire's venom.
"Emmett," Sadie moaned, tugging harder on his hair as she arched her body into him.
The vampire closed his lips over the tip of her breast and gently tugged on it, trying so hard not to use his teeth on her. Sadie moaned his name again and Emmett wondered what it would be like for her to do it over and over if he was actually buried inside of her, taking her over that edge like he desperately wanted to.
Dangerous thoughts right now, Emmett told himself, releasing her tip and pressing a final kiss to her breast before looking at her face to find it flushed and her eyes closed. "You enjoyed that," he commented with a smirk.
"Shush," Sadie said breathlessly, opening her eyes a bit.
"You're also excited," Emmett said, running his fingers over her skin. "I can feel it…" He breathed in slowly. "I can smell it, Sadie."
Sadie made a small growl. "Shut up."
"You want something more, Wolf Girl?"
The brunette shook her head and looked away. "I'm not having sex with you, Emmett. Not right now. I have to get up and ready for the day. There are things that I want to do with my life besides get screwed by you." She pointed towards the door. "I bet Esme already has some food being prepared for me."
"Right, food." He patted her stomach. "We have to feed this tummy to keep you in a good mood and healthy. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't keep you fed and happy?"
"You're not my boyfriend."
"Am too," Emmett told her as she pushed him off of her and rolled onto her feet, fixing her shirt back into place.
"Since when?" Sadie demanded, turning to look at him with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Since now," Emmett said with a grin. He gestured at her body. "Friends don't exactly let their friends put their mouths on their breasts." The vampire licked his lips. "You are yummy, Wolf Girl."
Sadie gave him a dirty look. "Can I get dressed now?"
"No one's stopping you."
"I need you to leave so I can change clothes, Emmett. You're not seeing me naked."
"Aw, but I saw the top half. Why can't I see the bottom half too?" Emmett pouted, giving her his best puppy dog eyes.
"Emmett, leave this room before I get mad and throw you out," Sadie said, pointing towards the door. "I'll be downstairs in fifteen minutes, okay?"
"Okay." Emmett popped onto his feet and pressed a quick kiss to her lips before walking over to the door and slipping out into the hall. "See you in fifteen."
Emmett's golden eyes turned to another door when it opened and he saw Rosalie step out in a tight black dress with cleavage spilling out. She gave him a haughty look as their eyes met and Emmett quickly closed Sadie's door behind him, not wanting to give the blonde an opening or let Sadie have a clear preview of the conversation.
"Your little bitch throwing you out already?" Rosalie taunted, crossing her arms under her chest so that her breasts popped out more. She laughed. "That was fast."
"She's getting dressed," Emmett told the blonde with a bit of acid in his voice. "Unlike some people, she doesn't feel the need to tease me with every little action she does. And she has modesty."
"Are you calling me a slut, Emmett?" Rosalie demanded, her eyes narrowing.
"No," Emmett said, crossing his arms. "Just shutting down whatever you think you're pulling by wearing our thirtieth anniversary dress." He looked away from her. "I'm not interested in you anymore, Rose. All I want from you is our divorce and for you to leave me and Sadie alone in peace."
"Well fuck you with a spiked dildo too, Emmett," Rosalie huffed, turning on her heel and slamming her way back into their room.
"That could have gone worse," Emmett told himself, waiting a moment before walking down the hall and downstairs. "It could have gone way, way worse."
OOOOOOOOOO
Sadie dressed in less than five minutes and stood there in her jeans and gray t-shirt, listening to Rosalie break things in the next room. She had heard the exchange between Emmett and Rosalie outside her room and could only imagine what the beautiful blonde vampire had looked like, trying to take Emmett back after just one night, but she didn't want to think. She knew that there wasn't anything to be done except for one thing.
The wolf crossed over to her desk and pulled out a notebook and a pen. She quickly scribbled down all the things that she could think of without really seeing the words that she was writing. Her head hurt with the sounds of the wolf in her head and she just wanted to crumple into a ball and start crying, but that would attract too much attention, attention that she didn't want right now. Satisfied with what she had written and knowing that her time was almost up, Sadie threw the pen down and ripped the sheet of paper out of the notebook.
Please let this work, she thought to the heavens as she crossed the room and slid out of her room.
Sadie hurried downstairs and into the kitchen, seeing Emmett standing next to the kitchen island while Esme worked at the stove, making pancakes and sausage patties. Emmett grinned at her and pulled out a stool for her to sit on. Sadie moved over to him and held out the piece of paper.
"Can you go buy these things for me?" she asked.
"What's all this?" Emmett asked, scanning the piece of paper. His eyebrow lifted. "Really? Wow…" He waved the paper at her. "Do I really get to see some of this stuff on you and use it?"
"Yeah, eventually," Sadie said, feeling her heart ache as she said those words. "Can you get them for me, Emmett?"
"Sure, but it's going to take me most of the day," Emmett said, slipping the list into his pocket. "You sure you can survive without me for that long?"
Sadie nodded. "Yeah, we have…we have forever, Emmett."
Emmett's grin grew bigger and his golden eyes danced as he reached out and cupped her face between his large hands. "That's right, Sadie." He pressed a kiss to her lips and smiled warmly at her. "I'll see you when I come back home, take you out on a date. How about that?"
"That sounds nice," Sadie said, feeling her heart start to crack.
Emmett nodded and walked out of the kitchen, humming to himself. Sadie sank down onto the stool and picked at her meal when Esme set it in front of her. Esme gave her a concerned look and placed a hand on top of hers.
"What's wrong, Sadie?" she asked, causing Sadie to sigh.
"Esme, can you and Carlisle take me to the park again?" Sadie asked, meeting the vampire's gaze. "There's something I really need to talk to you about and I'd rather do it without the ears of the others around."
"Sure, honey," Esme said with a small smile. "We'll do anything for you."
Can you let me go though? Sadie wondered, looking back down at her food because her heart hurt too much to look at the woman that had loved her so much.
OOOOOOOOO
Sadie walked in between Carlisle and Esme towards the area that she had taken them before with her eyes downcast. Her hands were tucked into the pockets of her jacket because they were shaking and her heart was cracking with each step that she took because she knew what she was doing was going to hurt a lot of people, but it had to be done to protect a lot more.
"Sam?" Carlisle asked, sounding surprised and Sadie caught the whiff of the other Alpha's scent on the breeze. "What are you doing here?"
Sam's gaze fell on Sadie as the trio stopped before the wolf. "You didn't tell them, Sadie?"
Sadie shook her head and kept her gaze lowered, feeling her eyes water.
"Didn't tell us what?" Esme asked before gasping. Her hand tightened on Sadie's arm. "Sadie, you want to go join his pack?"
"I don't want to join his pack, Esme," Sadie whispered, glancing at her adopted mother. "I just – I just want to live with him and the others for a while…learn how to be a proper wolf and fighter."
"But Sadie," Carlisle began, looking down at her. "Why?"
"Because I'm destroying your family!" Sadie cried, feeling a tear slide down her cheek and then another. "And because I'm scared that something worse could happen if I'm found with you, Carlisle! Rosalie and Emmett would still be together right now if I had never shown up on your doorstep and I could bring death to you all by living with you!"
"Oh, Sadie, no, no," Esme said, shaking her head as she wrapped her arms around Sadie's trembling form. "You're not that kind of person, dear…"
"I can barely fight and I need to learn," Sadie cried against Esme's shoulder. "I want to be able to stop what happened to my sister and our pack from happening to you guys, but I can't. I can't do that from where I'm standing…I need to get out and live with Sam for a while."
"If that's what you think is best," Carlisle said, petting her hair. "But we can help you too, Sadie, if you'd let us…" He sighed. "I know your kind is the best option for you though."
"I can teach her," Sam stated, crossing his arms over his naked chest. "Help her become an able- bodied wolf and perhaps coax that fear out of her." His brow furrowed. "There is a lot of work ahead for this one, Cullens, you may not see her for some time. If she even desires to come back."
"She'll come back," Esme told him. "Won't you, Sadie?"
"Maybe," Sadie whispered, hating herself.
"Okay dear," Esme murmured, pressing a kiss to her temple.
"What are you going to do about your schooling?" Carlisle asked, still stroking her hair.
Sadie lifted her face away from Esme's shoulder and looked at the vampire. "Can I still go to school where I am now? I just want to live with Sam…"
Carlisle looked doubtful. "What are you going to do about the others, Sadie? We can stop them when they are at home, but when they are at school with you, they will approach you. They may try to drag you back home."
Sadie glanced at Sam for help.
"We'll have someone keep an eye on you," he promised. "They'll take you to the school and bring you back to the reservation right after, so that your vampire friends can't attempt a kidnapping. You'll be safe with us."
"She's safe with us too, Sam," Esme pointed out.
"Can we not fight?" Sadie asked, trying hard to rein in her emotions and chaotic thoughts. "Please, I just want to go back to the house and get what I need and leave while I can…please, I don't want to hurt anyone else…" She ducked her head. "I'm sorry, Esme, Carlisle."
"Don't be," Carlisle told her, putting his hand on her shoulder and squeezing.
"We still love you," Esme told her. "We'll always love you, Sadie." She turned the small group. "Let's get you home…"
OOOOOOOOOO
Emmett hopped out of his Jeep and grabbed the bags full of the things that Sadie had asked him to buy for her, feeling higher than a kite on life. He reached out and grabbed the white flowers that he'd bought on a whim, not really knowing what kind of flowers that Sadie really loved, but he was sure he'd figure it out and then he'd give her them every chance that he could. The vampire walked quickly into the house and noticed the scent of Sam in the air, but pushed it aside as he took to the stairs, eager to show Sadie what he got. But Rosalie was coming down them at the same time.
"You're not going to be happy," she commented with a happy smirk on her face as she slipped past him.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Emmett demanded, glancing over his shoulder at her.
"You'll see," Rosalie laughed, walking down the stairs.
Emmett didn't like the sound of that and tightened his grip on the bags in his hands. He hurried up the stairs and towards Sadie's room. The door was open and so he stepped in.
"Sadie?" he asked, only to find Carlisle and Esme sitting on the foot of Sadie's bed. "Carlisle, Esme? What are you doing in here?" He shook his head. "That doesn't matter. Scat. I've got to see Sadie."
"Emmett, we've got to tell you something," Carlisle told the vampire.
"Later," Emmett said, dropping the bags, but keeping hold of the bouquet. "Sadie, where's Sadie?"
Esme's eyes were unusually sad. "Emmett, Sadie's gone…"
OOOOOOOOOO
A/N: I told you that it wasn't going to end happy with this chapter update, but things got a bit interesting at the beginning, right? I'm having my moments here and I hope you stick around for the ride. I'd like some feedback but you don't have to give any if you don't wanna. I don't know when the next update will be because of my weird ongoing funks and motivation issues, but I'll try to get around to it when I can. I've got a long list of projects that need attention, both on Fanfiction and in my regular life, so yay for me. Thank you all again and much love! -Scarlet
