When Chris comes to she slowly opens her eyes and tries to move her head but every movement hurts. She closes her eyes again and counts to ten, but when she opens them the world is still upside down. That's when she notices that her stomach hurts from the strain of the seatbelt holding her up. Finally, something comes back. They, Deac was driving very fast to outrun two vehicles that had been following them. They were protecting a witness. With one hurtful movement, Chris turns to the back of the car.

Rodrigo was sprawled unconscious on the floor but seemed to be breathing judging by the movement on his upper body. She turns back to the driver's side to check on Deac. A large cut on his forehead is slowly oozing blood and she reaches over.

"Deac?" she tries to shake him as hard and gently as she can at the same time. "Deac? Can you hear me?" she says a little louder and her partner reacts with a low groan. Deac's eyes flutter open and closed a few times before his breathing evens out again.

Chris now can try and focus on the man in the backseat. She presses the seatbelt release and braces immediately to soften the fall but nothing happens. She tries again, a little more forcefully but still, nothing budges.

"There is a belt cutter in the glove compartment," Deac whispers weakly having noticed her struggle. Still, Chris's hand reaches for where her tactical knife would usually be strapped down before trying to float to the compartment.

Hanging here, head down is not ideal and definitely not helping in keeping her calm or concentrated. She has to manage. When she can finally reach for the cutter, she also grabs her gun and the spare mags from there.

Chris knows that them having tumbled down a ravine will not guarantee them that the guys that have been chasing them won't check they are dead.

She releases her belt and hands the cutter to Deac before climbing in the back seat and checking on Rodrigo. He also seems to have a few cuts and bumps but nothing too serious. After a few light slaps to the face, he opens his eyes.

In the meantime, Deacon has exited the driver's seat and has pried open the back door as well as tried the trunk.

"Chris, can you climb into the trunk? We could use the rifles and that sat phone right about now?" Deac half proposes half commands and Chris gets to folding away the seats, which works rather counterintuitive if you're upside down.

The first thing she can grab is the first aid kit and she throws it to Rodrigo. "Get out and help each other. You both have cuts that need cleaning,"

After that, she climbs into the back and tries to get her bearings. Her phone is her only light source but using the flash this way will drain the battery with no chance of a recharge. Still, she has no other choice.

One quick look with the flash and then Chris heads for the sat phone first.

When her fingers connect with the hardcover box, they also tangle in a cord that feels suspiciously like coms and for a quick moment Chris wants to check but she knows realistically she should grab this and then get to the rifles and she'll need light there anyway.

Getting the gun safe open she grabs two rifles and spare mags for each of their weapons. That's all she can carry. Chris stops for a moment and fumbles for the emergency letch of the trunk.

Her head is already throbbing from the little exertion and when the trunk swings open her eyes squint at the sun.

"Ouch," she lets out and a second later she feels Deac's hands help guide her out.

"Let me check you over too, while we make a plan," he softly guides her to sit down on a rock and then gently cleans the scrape at her neck.

"I just want my sunglasses," Chris whines and shields her eyes again. Deac places the sat phone box in her lap. "Set the com channel to three, it is most likely we can communicate on that out here. And try HQ," the sergeant tells her.

Chris knows it's part distraction, but it is also important that they get a connection to HQ.

After fumbling with the coms for a few moments she gets the cords untangled and can hand off one set to Deac. Then she gets to work on dialing HQ. She can hear the connection build when a sudden loud noise from above makes her slam the box shut and take cover.

"Damn, are those…" she whispers to Deac who looks worried. Deac has a hand placed firmly on Rodrigo's head, so the man stays down.

In LA Street just had a forced water and food break with Tan. His buddy hasn't left his side for more than a few minutes ever since this operation went underway. They are sitting in the kitchen when suddenly Luca bangs the door open and pokes his head in.

"We need you in tech. Now," his tone is urgent and just after he has finished Luca is out the door again. Street feels himself freeze for a second but Tan's hand on his shoulder breaks the spell and they both sprint as fast as they can to meet with Hondo, Luca and Hicks who is looking worried.

"Could we get a lock on the location?" the commander asks with a stern voice and one of the technicians on duty lets their fingers fly across a keyboard.

"It was too short. The connection didn't really build, so we only have a very general area," she says and pulls up a map.

"That's almost the whole drive to the safe house," Hondo exclaims a little enraged and Street has to lean against the console to not lose balance. His knees threatened to buckle. He wants to say something but Tan next to him shakes his head and motions for him to listen. He can see it in his friend's eyes, he has been biting his tongue on something the whole day.

Hearing Hicks give them the go on a flyover search and rescue operation is much more than a relief. But the second he wants to leave Tan taps his arm.

"We are talking now and you tell me what's going on or I tell Hondo you're unfit," the low voice feels threatening but Tan's eyes are showing only worry.

Street hangs his head and sighs "I can't lose her. Not like this,"
