I'm a writer, but this is the first time I've ever actually written something fanfiction related. I've kinda had this concept in my head for years. I'm planning on it being fairly long. So if people like it, I'm down to write more. :)
It was just supposed to be a routine scout mission. They were just scouring the city, searching for anyone who might need they help. They were not supposed to be face to face with the foot clan, fighting for their lives.
He stood in front of his purple clad brother, holding his katanas steadily trained on the ninjas closing around them. Donnie had been struck before they even knew what was happening, knocked out by a knee slamming into the side of his head. Raph and Mikey were backed into a corner on the other side of the warehouse. It seemed they walked into a hornets nest.
"Next person that touches him, I can promise you won't be walking after." Leonardo's eyes narrowed on the foot soldier that was closing in on them from the left.
"Now, now, Leonardo." Karai's thin form appeared from shadows. "There's no need to get violent." Her voice was laced with venom. "Come quietly, and I can promise none of you will be harmed." A sick smile snaked across her lips. "Well, more than what's already been done." Her eyes dropped to Donatello.
"When will you stop being Shredder's lapdog? He's just using you!" Leo growled through his teeth, tightening his grip on the hilts of his swords.
"The rat's been lying to you. You have no idea the things he's kept from you. And you are trying to preach to me?" She forced out a laugh, dragging her wakizashi from its sheath. "Shall I prove it to you?"
"You expect me to believe anything you have to say?" His eyes darted to Raph and Mikey. They were fighting back, but the foot ninjas were still closing in. Every one they took down another would replace them. He was running out of time. Wake up Donnie!
Whatever the shredder was working on here, they needed to stop it. And they needed to do it fast. Karai and so many foot wouldn't be here if it wasn't important. Why did Mikey have to run in alone? He expected that from Raph, not him.
"You don't have to believe me." She brushed her hand towards the shadows behind her. "You can believe my father's pet."
"Pet?" His snapped back to her.
A figure dropped from the window above her. It slowly straightened from the crouch, it had landed in. Bright eyes appeared in the darkness. The shadows pulled away from him as he stepped into the moonlight shinning through the windows.
Leo's mouth went dry, the muscles in his forearms going numb and losing the grip on his katana. Another turtle stood before him, wearing a black mask around his eyes. The breath left him as he stared into the turtle's eyes. "..who… how…?"
Karai lightly dragged the tip of her sword along the front of the new turtle's plastron. "Vincent, is what your pathetic father named him before leaving him to die. Fitting isn't it, after another one of his beloved painters. My father found him, trained him. To kill you."
"Vincent…" This wasn't right. She was lying. How was this possible? They had another brother? "You're lying. Master Splinter would never abandon us."
"You're right. He wouldn't abandon you." Karai smirked, glaring pure hatred into Leo. "I'm sure your outcast brother would have different thoughts about that."
Leonardo swung his blade out, forcing the foot ninjas to move further back. "This is some kind of sick trick. You're lying!"
"Ever so loyal." She sheathed her sword, holding her fist up. The foot soldiers moved away from him and moved to stand behind her. She motioned to the black masked turtle.
His face was emotionless, but it was clear in his eyes. He was burning inside. He took a few steps in front of Karai. He moved his arms up, taking a fighting stance. On each of his arms, he had a curved tonfa blade. Both strapped on his arms by leather gauntlets to keep his hands free.
"Let's see…" His voice was quiet, but dangerous. "Who was trained better." His eyes were deadlocked on Leo. Every muscle in his body tense.
Leo looked back at Donnie, still at his feet. He needed to get them out of here. His gaze jerked up just in time to deflect the blade aiming for his throat. Vincent slammed his free fist directly into the side of Leo's head, sending him careening into the wall behind him as his foot caught onto the edge of his brother's shell.
"Pathetic." Vincent straightened, no longer bothering with a stance.
Leo's teeth clenched together. "I don't know what they did to you. But if you really are my brother, I know Splinter wouldn't have abandoned you." He dragged himself up holding his katanas up.
His eyes flashed with fire. Vincent dove towards him. As Leo deflected his blade, he kneed him in the chest, slamming him against the wall again. He caught one of his katanas in between his tonfa and the leather gauntlet covering his wrist. He twisted his wrist down, forcing the sword out of Leo's hand. "You." His elbow connected with Leo's chest. "Know." He deflected Leo's blade with his. "Nothing!" His fist came at Leo's head again.
Leo caught it before it was able to land. "No, I don't know!" He wiped the blood from his lip. "I don't have any idea what's going on, you're right! I don't know who you are, how you're here. All I know is that I need to help my brothers." Leonardo slammed his head into Vincent's, causing the turtle to stagger back and almost trip over Donnie. Leo held his head. That had definitely been a mistake.
"Raph! Get Mikey out of here!" He kept his eyes locked on his opponent, who was recovering quickly. He picked up the katana off the ground. "I have a feeling you don't have a thing for words." He muttered, training his blades steadily on Vincent.
Vincent's eyes narrowed as he stalked around him slowly.
"Please, we can figure this out together. You don't have to go back to Shredder." Something inside him knew this wasn't fake, as much as it pained him. Deep down he knew he knew this turtle, somehow, somewhere. He could feel it on the edge of his mind.
"My only purpose is to serve Master Shredder." He stopped circling him, moving into his stance again.
Leo looked back at where his other brother's had been. They were gone. Good. Raph had gotten out with Mikey. Two less things to worry about.
But, everything else was gone too. The warehouse had been stripped, the foot were gone, Karai. The only one's left were him, Donnie, and his new enemy, Vincent. Shell! He had been too distracted and hadn't even noticed. This had been nothing but to keep him occupied, and he'd fallen for it. Splinter had taught him better than that.
"Don't take our eyes off your target." A chill shot down his spine as he spun around to look behind him. When did he get there? How was he so fast?
Leo swung out his blade as he turned. Vincent caught him by the wrist, slamming something sharp into the side of Leonardo's neck. He jerked back, ripping his arm out of his grip. He reached up, pulling the needle out of his skin. His katanas slipped out of his hands, hitting the ground with a clatter. "I'm… sorry master…" He murmured under his breath. Splinter would be so disappointed in him. Everything had played out perfectly for Karai like it had been written in stone.
Vincent walked toward him, stepping over Donnie's still unconscious form. He sighed heavily as he looked at Leo. "…My anger doesn't involve you. I'm sorry." He knelt down and picked up one of Leo's katana.
"…why… are you..?"
The hilt of his katana struck him in the side of the head, bringing darkness before his body hit the ground.
He groaned as his head pounded violently. Leo slowly opened his eyes, wincing against the light. Rope dug into his wrists, keeping them pinned behind him. He looked around him, seeing Donnie beside him. "Donnie!" He hissed.
Donatello looked at him, his face grim. "Leo… what's going on? Is it true…?"
His jaw clenched. Donnie must have been filled in while he had been out. "…I don't know. It doesn't matter if it is true right now, we need to get out of here."
"I don't know if that's going to be an option… I heard them talking, Leo. I don't think we're going to be walking out of here." His eyes dropped to the ground.
"Of course we're getting out of here. I won't let anything happen to you. I think Raph and Mikey got away." He looked around for anything that could help them. They seemed to be in some kinda of empty cell. And if he had to guess, it was in the center of Shredder's tower. This really wasn't how he thought today was going to go.
They were both tied at the wrist and ankles and stripped of all of their weapons. Karai didn't seem like she was playing games.
Leo pulled on his wrists, jerking them until his wrists were beginning to bleed. Okay, maybe he wasn't so sure they would make it out of this. But Donnie didn't need to know that. If Raph can get to Master Splinter or April, they could be getting back up and minute.
The door opened in front of them. Several foot soldiers walked in, grabbing them and forcing them to their feet. Karai looked in and smiled. "Glad to see he didn't hurt you too badly." The foot dragged them out as Leo struggled violently.
"What is your game, Karai?! What do you gain from this?"
She walked in front of them, opening the door to Shredder's throne room. "Satisfaction."
The turtles were dragged inside and forced on their knees. Vincent stood beside the chair where Shredder was seated. The Shredder glowered down at them like they were nothing more than vermin.
A dark dread came over him like a wave of suffocating water. His faith of getting out of here with Donnie alive was being slowly crushed in front of his eyes.
Vincent jumped down to stand beside them. He looked back up at Shredder, waiting for command.
"Where are the other two?" Shredder's gruff voice boomed through the room.
"They escaped, master." Vincent bowed his head. "I was only able to obtain the turtles Leonardo and Donatello."
The Shredder stood, walking down the steps one at a time. Each step sent a chill of fear through Leo as he watched. Every muscle in his body was tense, preparing for the pain they were about to suffer through. He silently willed some of his strength to Donnie.
He stopped before them, looking down at them with disgust. His hand came down, striking Vincent across the face. As soon as the turtle bent over in pain, Shredder's knee slammed into his head, sending him crashing to his knees beside them. "I do not accept failure!"
Vincent bowed his head, blood dripping from his mouth. "…Of course master." He staggered back to his feet, keeping his head down in submission.
The Shredder's fingers wrapped around Vincent's throat, partly lifting off the ground. The turtle grabbed Shredder's wrist, a shock of panic flashing through his eyes.
"Stop!" Donnie's voice echoed through the room.
Leo's breath caught in his throat. Donnie, you idiot! There was nothing they could do tied up like this. He could just be making it worse for him.
"You spent years training him, like Splinter did with us, and you're going to beat him for only partly failing?" Donnie's body was trembling, but he wasn't backing down much to Leo's dismay.
"Yes… because after all these years, he's still failing!" The Shredder threw Vincent against the wall. The turtles grunted in pain and collapsed onto the ground. This time it took him a few minutes before he got up again.
After all this, Vincent was still choosing to be loyal to the Shredder. How long has this monster been abusing him and torturing him just to be a tool used to kill them. Leo looked to Karai, anger boiling through him as she consciously looked away from what her father was doing.
"But I will let him redeem himself…" Shredder's eyes narrowed as he looked down at Donnie. Leo shifted his weight, ready to launch himself at the Shredder if he eve thought about touching Donnie.
He stepped away, turning his back on them. "Vincent, kill them. Prove yourself to me."
The black masked turtle looked to them, something passing through his eyes Leo couldn't make out. They were about to be murdered by a brother they didn't even know. They weren't given a chance to know.
Vincent's hands clenched into fists as he walked towards them. A dark purple bruise was already sprouting along his cheek. "Of course, Master Shredder." He stood behind Leo, resting his tonfa on the back of his neck.
Leo's heart beat violently against his chest. He prayed Raph and Mikey weren't coming now. If the Shredder got to them…
Vincent raised his arm, ready to bring the blade down on Leo's neck. "Do it now!" The Shredder looked back at him over his shoulder. Vincent's eyes flickered to the Shredder, before looking back at Leo. His eyes narrowed. His arm came down, slicing through Leo's bonds, and half a second later Donnie's bonds as well.
"Go." He caught Karai's sword against his tonfa. "Go!"
Leo stared at him, not fully processing what had happened until he was grabbing Donnie's arm and crashing through the window. Leo grabbed onto the edge of the building, swinging Donnie to a hand hold of his own. They started dropping down to the street below.
Donnie hit the ground, looking up at the window they had shattered. "…Where is he? We have to go back. Shredder will kill him!"
Leo grabbed his arm again and started running. "We can think about that later! We have to get out of here before they follow."
"Leo! They'll kill him!" Donnie stumbled after him, still looking back at the window.
"He can take care of himself! We can figure out a plan when we aren't running for our lives!" He ripped up a manhole cover and shoved Donnie down it. He cast one glance back before dropping down after him.
Sorry for any spelling errors there might be. I tried to go through and fix them all. 3 Thank you for reading :)
