Devil May Cry

Inside the Family

And we'll never be royals,

It doesn't run in our blood.

Lorde

As Rebekah's body was recovering from the betrayal her brother had given her, her mind wasn't. She couldn't understand the actions of her brother, he was mentally ill, she believed that after last night's event, she felt his disloyalty to her, if that was a way to get his power or his needs. And Caroline was a need for him. He needs her to feel pain, to feel happiness, so he would feel alive. Like a beast he did what he's in need, by violence, kidnapping and killing whoever was in his way. Rebekah looked at Kol, she pitted him, because he was not the hero in Caroline's heart, he was falling apart after her departure, since he had woken up. He knew the story of Klaus and Caroline, but now, everything has changed in his eyes, because Klaus was never supposed to leave and was never supposed to return as well, he was in denial of Caroline's feeling and heart, he was seeing a chance in happiness, he was seeing her as a princess and he was the prince, but Rebekah founded that Caroline has never said No to Klaus for a dance, she was so involved with him, and a dance with a devil last forever, She was like a fallen angel, because of her love for the devil!

"She's nowhere to be found, Kol. We can't beat him in this!" Rebekah said, taking quick steps towards her determined to be the knight in the shining armor. He was collecting some wooden sticks, guns with wooden bullets, a hunter's equipment; he was giving her no attention.

"We're digging our graves; he will put us in boxes." Rebekah said in a more clear and desperate voice.

"That's why we'll never beat him in this, Rebekah!" He shot her a look of anger and disgust, "I can smell your fear. You're willing to do whatever Nik wants, so you could live one more day out of that rotten box." He shouted again, showing her how little she was, that she was no better than their brother. "I'll bring Caroline home with me, wait for us, sister."

Caroline's steps were slow and much quit, she had worked hard to get to this part of building, there was no one in the corridors, the silence was scaring her, she wasn't trusting the walls, she wanted to be out of this place very soon, so she could torment Klaus, just the way he had tormented her, the last years. When she saw him, the first time in her life, he was cold as ice. She wants to treat him the exact way he had. It wasn't revenge, it was her pride which is wounded, and she wants to heal it now, after all these years, she wants to play this game with him. He wanted to stay alone these past years, he wanted to get his work done, so she does now.

As her mind was focusing on Klaus, she just remembered that her focus was needed elsewhere; however, it was too late. Her hand was trying to fix the mass that was about to happen, but she could not reach the vase before it was on the ground, creating a great crushing sound. Now, she is blaming herself for her stupidity and she won't start her plans of revenge today!

"At least the life is returning to your soul, even if that costs a vase from British history." Caroline's feet left the ground in a horrific jump, a hand landed on her chest, as his deep voice created a volcano in her thoughts.

"You're responsible for your soul, when you do this. My heart nearly stopped." She nearly shouted as her feet carried her away from him.

"One day it will eventually, Sweetheart?" He asked, he was maintaining the anger of her actions toward him, she was being too calm, she hadn't shouted, and neither blamed him, since he had arrived. This was worrying him, creating a hole in his chest, she is the only one who could slip away, with her own fists!

"What do you mean?! That I'm going to rot and die!" She asked in astonishment, and then she came to her senses, knowing that he was pushing her limits, so he would get a reaction, to get on her nerves! And she wouldn't give him that, wouldn't give him the satisfaction of being without guilt. "Oh, absolutely we all will, ONE DAY!" she said after a second, mocking his tone, and again left him and walked away only for his voice to reach her ears, causing an unwanted smile to curve up on her lips.

"I want you to be young and live forever." He said his desire, which he doesn't know the consequences of.

As her roaming continued, she let herself freely between the corridors, only to be met by a face, nodding for her, and putting a finger on his lips, shushing her. Directing her to be quiet!

"Kol! You've come!" she mouthed, and a smile reached her ears! She came rushing down the stairs, taking her way towards him. She knew that he would take her away from a place she didn't want to be at this moment.

As her steps came to stop a hand circled her waist pushing her behind to a strong, familiar chest. She smelled his scent all over her, consuming her.

"Don't scare the girl, Nik! Just let her go home safely." Kol said quietly.

"I see, we have to do it the old way then. Go to your room sweetheart." Klaus said, promising Kol of a misery he did know quite well, and letting go of Caroline and offering her to walk upstairs with his hand.

"I agree, go to your room darling, it won't take long. Then we shall go home." Kol confessed, then Caroline nodded her head, leaving Klaus in Confusion and he furiously attacked his brother with his fists as the sound of Caroline's steps faded.

"I'm just two days home, and you've already made a mess!" Klaus murmured between his teeth, as Kol had thrown him away and his hybrid's marks had come to display.

"Sorry for the mess, it was a little crowded when I'd arrived; I prefer more intimate gatherings, as you know, brother."

"Well, you can't go against me, you've had your fun, go home and we'll follow you soon. Or the other option, you can find yourself back in a box." He said, a smirk isn't leaving his face.

"EHHH, no need to be nasty about it." Kol said who was smirking back at his brother, proving for him that he's willing to do what his brother wants.

"On the contrary, I am in need, so you'll go home now, do you understand?" Klaus asked, his features were serious, taking control over Kol by his trick, was something he used to, Rebekah or Kol could never step over him.

"Fine, big brother." He said reminding him of the connection between them, playing a distracting game on Klaus, and then he turned his back leaving.

Klaus let a breath, he didn't want to things to get complicated, Kol has found his tracks in no time, he was no longer willing to sacrifice a fight with his brother disturbing Caroline's sanity, he needed to have his time with her, to have her back to him, to convince her that there's no one in this world for her except him, only him for her, and her for him. As his feeling for trouble was gone, he turned his back, going for his sweet little Caroline, only to feel his neck cracked and a darkness consuming him, and the final thought of his was Kol will pay for this!

"What happened? Did Klaus agree?" She said with her teary cheeks, as Kol was opening her door, a smile on his face.

"Will you forget about him?" he asked angrily, as the smile faded from his face being replaced by his hard, nervous expression, making Caroline take a few steps back as the fear consumed her, " Just for now, darling?" He said relaxing her, he was in no need for Caroline's stubbornness.

Caroline nodded, but he didn't give her the answers she wanted. She will ask Rebekah anyway; about everything that has happened with her and their family. And the things that she has seen.

"Come, we have to go, Rebekah's waiting for us." Caroline nodded again, not stepping toward him, and Kol sensed her fear, he asked again. "What is the matter, Caroline?"

"Nothing, nothing at all." She answered quickly, and then swallowed; shaking her head, convincing him more, "guide the way." She said, this time her voice was shaking.

"Caroline." Rebekah said, running towards the little blond girl, taking her between her arms, she feared for her, Klaus wasn't a normal person, he was a hypocrite, a psychopath. He could not control his actions around this little innocent girl.

Caroline's face was a pure shock, 'Rebekah was the same Rebekah nothing would change' she thought! "Rebekah, you're choking me." She said, warning the supernatural creature.

"I'm sorry, so sorry." She said, as she pulled away from Caroline, taking the girl's hand in hers. "Let's go to your room, you should rest." She ordered, Caroline sighed and nodded.

Caroline felt relief as she was in Rebekah's warm arms, she felt home with her, She felt safe and loved. Rebekah gives her a feeling not anyone could, she felt that feeling her mother could only give her, but she can't, since a long time.

"Rebekah, do you think if I have a family out in the world they would welcome me?" She asked hesitatingly, as the silence followed her question, she waited.

"Why are you asking this?" Rebekah answered with a question, as she looked down at the girl, and passed a hand through the blond hair of Caroline.

"I'm almost 18, you've done so much to me, and all of you need to be free of me by now. I've found a friend of my father, he wanted to help me. Can you all let go of me, Rebekah?" she asked, fearing Rebekah's reaction, she looked at her eyes looking for an answer, looking for something to rest her.

"I can't stop you, if you want this, if I don't help you, then I'm no better than Nik, and doing just like what he has done to me." She said, the tears were gathering in her eyes. "You're a grown woman now. But you'll always know that I love you so much, and I'll support you whatever you want." She continued, as her hands cupped Caroline's face.

Caroline smiled and nodded, feeling grateful for Rebekah, she knew she would support her, but was afraid of the selfish thoughts Klaus always said that Rebekah has.

She blamed herself for being so blind, they weren't aging since she has saw them, she had never thought about it, she had never thought that her only family was something monstrous, even if they still who they're, she needs to leave, for her sanity, she could be mindless if she stays with people like the killers of her family, the species she has grown to hate!
