Chloe was sitting at her desk at LAPD headquarters holding a stress ball. She was thinking back to the time she first met Kinley at a church in Rome researching about Lucifer. The priest had accidentally startled her and said, "Oh, hi, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. I'm Father Kinley. Someone said you might need some help with research." "Yes," Chloe stuttered. "Did you hear some crazy lady was asking about the Devil?" Kinley chuckled and said, "I don't think you're crazy at all. In fact, I think we should talk."

He escorted her around the grounds as he explained, "I work for a division of the Church called The International Association of Exorcists. We deal with demonic possession. People who believe that they have encountered the Devil or to be the Devil. We know about Lucifer Morningstar, Ms. Decker. We'd have been aware of him for about seven years. At first, we thought he was just a benign eccentric, but the more we watched him, the more terrifyingly authentic he became. And since you've traveled all this way to research him, I assume that you agree." Chloe sighed and said, "I don't know what to think." Kinley stopped walking and said, "I realize that this must be extremely difficult for you. And I want you to know that I'm here to help." "How?" Chloe asked. "How can you help me?" Kinley said nothing and Chloe muttered, "That's what I thought." But then Kinley said, "But there is something you can do."

Chloe shook her head from the memory and crunched her stress ball. She remembered Kinley's words, "Every day he remains on Earth, people are in danger. Whenever he visits, death and destruction follow."

Chloe was interrupted from her inner thoughts when Ella held up an egg in front of her and Ella said, "Guess what that is." "An egg?" Chloe asked. Ella chuckled, "That, my friend, is Margaret's first bounty." "Who's Margaret?" Chloe asked. "Oh," Ella answered. "My backyard chicken. Well, bathtub chicken. We live in an apartment." "You have a chicken in your apartment?" Chloe asked. "Yeah," Ella affirmed. "You know, I'm just trying to explore new hobbies these days, now that I've got Sundays free." "Right," Chloe muttered.

Ella noticed Chloe crunching the stress ball and asked, "You OK there?" Chloe put the ball down and said, "Oh, yeah. I mean, sort of. There's something I need to do that I've been putting off." "Oh!" Ella replied. "Oh, yeah. Whenever I'm procrastinating on something, I make an appointment for myself to do it. That way, can't back out. Like, for example, when I had to ask my landlord permission to get Bob, literally put it on my calendar." Chloe tilted her head in confusion, "Wasn't the, uh, the chicken is named Margaret?" "Bob was my turtle," Ella answered. "What happened to Bob?" Chloe asked. "Didn't get along with Margaret," Ella answered.

Chloe's phone binged and Chloe looked at the message and said, "Oh, wow. This should be exciting." Chloe showed Ella the message and Ella said, "Oh my gosh. Are you serious? I'll grab my kit. Amazeballs!" Ella ran to grab her kit as Chloe chuckled to herself. Then Chloe thought to herself, "If Kinley is right about death and destruction following Lucifer around, then I am worried about that kid. But who is he?"

Over at Lux, Carlos had just woken up in the guest suite that Lucifer provided him. He wanted his first full day with Lucifer to go well. He looked inside his backpack, but remembered that he only packed a few clothes and none of that would do. Sighing, he walked over to one of the closets and opened it to find plenty of women's dresses. "Really?" Carlos groaned. "Probably from his multiple one night stands. Evie would be jealous of some of these designs though. Maybe Mal too." He shut that closet and went to the next one to find clothes that were more tailored for Lucifer, his extras in fact. Carlos sighed and said, "None of this will do." Then Carlos had an idea and ran to grab the Ring of Envy from the nightstand. "Maybe Mom's ring will help with this." Carlos held out the ring towards the clothes and concentrated on what he wanted. When he opened his eyes, the clothes had transformed into his own personal wardrobe. Carlos smiled and said, "It worked! Nice." He put the ring around his neck and the ring did its work to hid his white hair. He pulled out a red with white accents shirt and black jeans and said, "Time to get to work."

Lucifer was up in his penthouse also getting dressed for the day as he heard the elevator open and saw Amenadiel inside. "Brother," Lucifer said. "What are you still doing here? I thought you'd be frolicking on a cloud by now." Amenadiel walked out of the elevator and stood in front of Lucifer, "Turns out I'm not moving back to the Silver City after all." "Really?" Lucifer asked. "Why's that?" Amenadiel smiled and said, "Well, Lucy, I've decided that my life is here now, on Earth. You see, I've come to learn so much about humans and…" Lucifer stopped him and said, "Actually, you know what, never mind. I'm sorry I asked. But since you're here, you can help me decide." He held up two shirts and asked, "Moscow Midnight or Blue Lagoon?" "That's the same shirt," Amenadiel commented. Lucifer glared at Amenadiel before the angel sighed and pointed to the first shirt. "Are you sure?" Lucifer asked. "Yeah," Amenadiel affirmed.

"Thank you," Lucifer said as he threw the second shirt down and put the first shirt on and walked over to the bar. Amenadiel noticed Lucifer's mood and asked, "All right, Lucifer, what's wrong? Because you never question your own taste." Lucifer looked back at Amenadiel and asked, "Well, can't a devil just look nice?"

Lucifer poured himself a drink as Amenadiel said, "Uh oh. I thought things were OK between you and Chloe." "They are," Lucifer replied. "We're back to being partners. Fully clothed partners." "What?" Amenadiel asked. "Nothing," Lucifer quickly addressed. "Just bully for partners." "Why do I sense a "but" in there somewhere?" Amenadiel asked. Lucifer sighed and said, "It's just, right before Charlotte was killed, the Detective and I, we shared a moment." Amenadiel realized what Lucifer was saying, "You kissed her." Lucifer nodded as Amenadiel chuckled. "It's just a kiss. I'm hardly a schoolgirl. Anyway, I'm just not sure whether the Detective wants to ignore that moment that we had now, or what." "All right," Amenadiel replied. "Listen to me, Lucy. You need to get out there and take a chance. Carpe diem. Humans, Chloe, people are amazing. Look, I wasted so much time keeping them at bay, looking down on them for millennia, when they have so much to offer. I'm only now just realizing how lucky we are, that we actually get a chance to connect with them, so I say put up your sign, Open for business, Humanity, come on in." "And what does that have to do with the Detective?" Lucifer asked.

"He means you should ask her out on a date." The two brothers looked over at the elevator and saw Carlos standing in front of it. "That's what he's trying to say. You should go for it. Then, you'll know the truth. If she doesn't love the real you, then she's not the one for you." Lucifer hummed to himself and said, "Well said. I didn't know you were this wise for a kid." Carlos shrugged and said, "I've given similar advice before to a friend of mine. It worked out for her." Lucifer took note of his outfit and said, "Where did you get that from?" Carlos chuckled and said, "Mix and match from your extra wardrobe. But you seriously have way too many outfits from previous conquests. Kind of creepy."

Amenadiel looked at Carlos, then back at Lucifer and asked, "Lucifer, who is this kid?" "Ah," Lucifer said, putting his glass down and buttoning up his shirt. "This is Carlos. He came here to LA to ask for my help. We made a deal. I help him, he helps me out here from time to time." Carlos reached his hand out to Amenadiel and said, "You must be Amenadiel. Lucifer's brother. It's nice to meet you." Amenadiel shook Carlos' hand and asked, "Is this the kid that Maze was talking about?" "Yes," Lucifer answered. "Which Maze can explain later. As I have to go and meet up with the Detective." He walked to the elevator as Carlos said, "Now? But I thought we would start my training today." "And we will," Lucifer said. "But there's a new case. And as you suggested, I need to ask the Detective out on a date. I can meet up with you here later. Why don't you start updating Lux's security systems? Or get your music list ready for your debut tonight at the club?" Carlos huffed and said, "Fine." Lucifer smirked as the elevator doors closed.

Amenadiel cleared his throat and Carlos turned to him. "What is Lucifer helping you with exactly?" The angel asked. Carlos chuckled and said, "That's between him and me. As well as Maze. Maybe you can find out later." Carlos turned to walk toward the elevator when Amenadiel grabbed onto Carlos' arm and said, "Just wait a minute…" But Carlos shoved Amenadiel and the angel flew across the room and out to the balcony. Carlos took some deep breaths to calm down and said, "Sorry about that. But I guess you just saw why." Carlos turned and got on the elevator down to the club to check out the security systems. Amenadiel stood up and rubbed his neck thinking, "Who is this child? He feels different, yet similar at the same time. Why is that?"

Over in a forest where the crime scene was, Lucifer had joined Chloe there and they were walking towards where the victim was. Lucifer leaned over to sniff Chloe and said, "Mm! That a new fragrance you're wearing? It's lovely." "It's mosquito repellent," Chloe revealed. Lucifer chuckled at his mistake and said, "Oh. Right, yes, of course. Yes, pesky little buggers, mosquitoes. They do, however, like to eat. As do I. Not blood, of course, but food. And I know you like to eat food too, so…"

"Oh, my gosh, you guys," Ella interrupted as Chloe and Lucifer arrived at the crime scene with Ella taking pictures of the victim. "Can you believe that we are on the actual set of The Cabin?" "Well," Lucifer answered. "I'm not really a reality show kind of person, Miss Lopez. I like to enjoy real life situations. You know, go out with other people, for example." Chloe walked away from Lucifer towards Ella, leaving the Devil slightly frustrated. Ella responded, "Oh, yeah, I'm usually not into reality shows either. I prefer more, you know, scripted content, documentaries, but I've got a little extra time these days, so sort of kind of watched, uh, 27 seasons in two weeks." "Fascinating," Lucifer replied sarcastically.

"Ella," Chloe asked. "Was she a contestant?" "Yeah," Ella answered. "Melinda Hagey. She was the sweetest kindergarten teacher ever, you guys, and a total fan favorite. Pretty sure she would have won if she hadn't, you know…" "Died," Lucifer finished for her. "Croaked, bought a pine condo. Could you just hurry up and give us the deets, please?" "Yeah, sure," Ella replied. "So, even thought Melinda's body was found in the lagoon and COD was obviously drowning, this right here, definitely a murder. I mean, first of all, we've got signs of struggle here on the beach, and secondly a big old, hulking contusion on the back of her head." "Hmm," Chloe hummed to herself. "Do we know if any of the cameras caught the murder?"

"Unfortunately, no." The trio turned to see a man walk towards them. "Maury Novak. I'm the executive producer. Anyway, yeah, none of the cameras were rolling 'cause it was the middle of the night. Don't worry, we won't make that mistake again." Chloe sighed and said, "Unfortunately, this is an active crime scene so until we process it, your show's on hold." "Yes," Ella agreed. "And I will need to watch all of your unaired footage." "That's hundreds of hours," Maury admitted. Ella got excited and said, "Oh, my God, awesome! I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do. Uh, lead the way, please." Maury led Ella to where they kept the footage and Lucifer said, "Right, I'm glad that's over with. Where were we? Oh, yes. Mosquitoes, food…" "Do you have plans tonight?" Chloe asked. Lucifer smiled and said, "You took the words right out of my mouth. Detective, would you like to go out with me this evening?" "Yes," Chloe answered. Even though Chloe was secretly given a liquid in a small vial by Father Kinley that she had to give him in order for him to go back to Hell.

Carlos meanwhile, was getting bored at Lux. He got a music setlist together quickly and started looking over the security systems. But he wanted to do more. Suddenly, he got an idea and pulled out the mirror and said, "Mirror, mirror in my hand, show me where Lucifer Morningstar stands." The mirror showed Lucifer and Chloe outside LAPD headquarters and Carlos said, "Maybe I should go give him a visit there." He ran out of Lux, jumped onto his vespa, and drove off to LAPD.

Once he got there, he used the Ring of Envy to sneak inside without anyone noticing him. He looked around and didn't find Lucifer anywhere. He saw Ella walking out of her lab so Carlos snuck in and saw multiple tapes of The Cabin footage. Carlos shrugged and thought, "Maybe I could help her go through footage." He sat down and put a tape in, and sat back in a chair and started to watch when Ella came back in and asked, "Uh, who are you?" Carlos turned his chair towards her and said, "Oh. My apologies. I'm Carlos. Lucifer's new ward. It's nice to meet you, Miss Lopez." Ella tilted her head in confusion and asked, "You're the kid that was brought in last night, weren't you?" "Yep," Carlos agreed. "And now Lucifer is your guardian?" Ella asked. Carlos nodded and said, "Sorry that I came into your space. I came here looking for Lucifer, but I couldn't find him. I saw the huge amount of tapes and I thought I could help you go through it all. If you don't mind, that is." Ella smiled and hugged Carlos saying, "That's so sweet of you. Do you want popcorn?" "Sure," Carlos answered with a smile. He then thought to himself, "I didn't even have to use my powers to persuade her. I like her."

Chloe came out of the elevator and walked over to Dan's desk and saw that he was packing it up. "Dan," Chloe asked. "What are you doing?" "Switching desks with McMillan," Dan answered. "What?" Chloe replied. "McMillan's under the stairs." "Yep," Dan responded. "It's cozy." "And as far away from Lucifer as possible," Chloe realized. "What happened? Did he steal your pudding again?" "No," Dan answered. "People don't get shot over stolen pudding, Chloe." Chloe sighed and whispered, "Dan, what happened with Charlotte, it wasn't Lucifer's fault." "You know what?" Dan replied angrily. "Here's the deal, Chloe. It was funny at first. And I was charmed just like everyone else here. But after everything that he kept from us about Pierce, don't you even wonder what other secrets the guy's got?"

Dan picked up the box with his stuff as Chloe thought back to her time in Rome talking with Kinley. The priest showed her an album with info on Lucifer and said, "Once we discovered Lucifer's identity, we were able to uncover evidence of his previous visits with humanity." Chloe didn't know what to make of it as she said, "You're saying he caused the Chicago Fire and Nazi Germany?" Kinley sighed and said, "I'm saying, that whenever he visits, death and destruction follow." Chloe huffed, "OK, well, speaking as a detective, this is circumstantial evidence at best." "Perhaps," Kinley replied. "But when the circumstances pile up this high, aren't you force to draw conclusions?" "No," Chloe answered. "No, I'm not. This isn't the man I know." Kinley walked over and showed her newspaper clippings of previous cases and said, "Keep going." Chloe shook her head and said, "He didn't kill these people. OK, he killed Pierce, but Lucifer was just protecting me." "From a situation he caused," Kinley revealed. "As for the others, you don't need to bee the one pulling the trigger to cause evil. Look, I know this is a lot to take in, Chloe. But he is the Devil. He's not supposed to be here. And somewhere inside, you know that whenever he may seem, he is dangerous."

Chloe was brought out of her musings when she heard Lucifer shout, "Bloody hell." She sighed and walked over to Ella's lab where she saw Lucifer staring at Carlos. "What is he doing here?" Chloe asked. "I don't know," Lucifer said. "Because I told him to stay at Lux and do what I asked him to do." "I did," Carlos replied. "I got my setlist ready for tonight and started working through your security systems. I thought I would swing by and see what you were up to. Then I saw Ella here and offered my help with the footage of the reality show for your case." Chloe turned to Lucifer and asked, "You're making him work for you?" "Not in the way you think, Detective," Lucifer answered. "He's only updating my security systems and playing piano for Lux. Nothing illegal involved here." "And," Ella interrupted. "He was so sweet to help me with the footage. It helped quicken the process." Chloe sighed as Lucifer said, "Fine. But tell me next time." Carlos nodded in confirmation, but thought, "I'll just let him think that."

"Now," Ella said as she pulled out a little totem figure. "This is the Teflon Totem. Only one is hidden on The Cabin per season. You find this bad boy and you are safe from elimination. Guess where I found it." "Well," Lucifer said. "If it keeps you safe from elimination, I'd say tucked right up in…" "Lucifer!" Chloe shouted as Ella shouted, "Melinda's pocket." Chloe pointed to Carlos and said, "There are a kid present. I thought you were suppose to be his guardian or something." "It's OK," Carlos said. "I've heard much worse things thanks to where I grew up. And seen things." Lucifer looked at Carlos sympathetically as even though he didn't like kids, he still felt that Carlos shouldn't have had to deal with stuff like that. But he covered it up by saying, "Well, well. You are full of surprises, aren't you?"

Ella cleared her throat and said, "Isn't that crazy? Right, OK, let me catch you up." "I've got you, Ella," Carlos said as he grabbed the keyboard and pulled up the footage she wanted. "Aww, thanks." Ella said as Carlos pulled up the footage. "So, previously on The Cabin, Judd the Jock had just found the totem, which was buried under the tree." Carlos typed into the keyboard and said, "So here he is just hours before Melinda was killed." Ella continued, "So, how did Melinda get it? She stole it. That's how." "Wait," Chloe asked. "So he killed her just to get it back? I mean, that's extreme." "I agree," Carlos replied. "The worst I've seen thieves being punished was a major beat up. But better thieves were able to get away with it. Like my friend Jay. He was a master thief before he turned his life around." Lucifer was looking at his phone and said, "Well, speaking of extreme, even heard of extreme dates? Swimming with sharks? Jelly wrestling. That's always a good ice breaker."

He paused then said to Carlos, "Did I hear you say that you had a friend who was a thief? And you were part of beat ups?" Carlos chuckled and said, "Yes my friend Jay was a thief, but he's not anymore. And I was never part of beat ups. The other way around actually." Carlos got quiet for a second and Chloe felt sad for the boy. Same with Lucifer. But Carlos shook his head and said, "Enough about that. Now you owe me later for my story time. And Lucifer, don't treat the lady to an extreme date. They never turn out good. Trust me." Chloe looked at Lucifer and whispered, "We'll talk about this later. And getting dating advice from a kid?"

Lucifer blushed as Chloe asked Ella, "So, did Judd do anything on the show to suggest that he's violent?" "Well," Ella answered. "Judd is the total villain of the season. And Melinda's biggest rival." She nodded to Carlos who pulled up the footage to show that Judd wasn't happy and walked over to Melinda with a rock and pretended to hit her with it. Chloe hummed and said, "Well, that's enough. You can pause it, Carlos. All right, well, he's clearly guilty. Let's go arrest him." "Arrest him?" Ella asked. "You mean question him?" "No," Chloe answered. "You said it, he's the villain. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it probably murders like a duck." Carlos looked a little put off by that statement, which Lucifer seemed to notice. "Was Carlos mislabeled as a villain like I am?" But Lucifer shook that thought off and went off on Chloe mentioning duck. "Oh, good idea, duck," Lucifer said. Chloe ignored him and said, "Let's go get him. And you, Carlos, don't sneak into LAPD without permission again." "If you say so," Carlos said as Chloe walked out of the lab and Lucifer said to Carlos, "Go back to Lux. I'll text Maze to start your training." "But," Carlos said. "I thought you were going to be around tonight for my first gig at Lux? And for my first training later." "Sorry, kid," Lucifer said. "I'll talk with you later." He walked after Chloe and said to her, "Have you ever been to the Mistral? They do a wonderful duck a l'orange." Ella looked over at Carlos and asked, "Training?" Carlos shrugged and said, "Secret. Can't say." Carlos was also trying to hide his disappointment as well, which Ella could tell and gave him a hug, which he appreciated.

Chloe and Lucifer arrived back at The Cabin set and they found Judd chopping wood. "All right, Judd," Chloe said walking right up to Judd. "Why don't you put down the axe?" Judd did and turned around to ask, "What's up?" "You're a killer," Chloe accused. "That's what's up." Lucifer seemed a little put off by that statement and said, "Er, yes, well, we know that you found the totem, Judd, and we believe that Melinda stole it from you, so perhaps you found out and had a bit of a tiff." "What?" Judd retorted. "You guys are high." "I wish," Lucifer muttered as Chloe asked, "Why don't you just confess and get it over with?" "Or," Lucifer interrupted, "If you have an alibi or something, now would be the time to fill us in." Chloe then said, "We know that you have a history of violence with Melinda. We've…"

"Yeah," Judd interrupted. "I hated her. Didn't know she stole the totem, though. But if it was her, I guess karma's a bitch." Chloe scowled, "If that's not a confession, I don't know what is." Chloe pulled out her handcuffs to arrest Judd, but Lucifer stopped her and said, "No, no, sorry. Just excuse us for a moment. Detective, don't you think we should get, what's that thing you're always on about, oh, yes, proof, before we arrest somebody? Just because you think he's a villain doesn't mean he is one." Chloe rolled her eyes and said, "You giving me that look. Just like your new ward did." "What?" Lucifer asked. "Yeah," Chloe explained. "When you were busy on your phone, I mentioned Judd was the villain and villains were always villains and he had the same look you have on your face. Like he took that personally. This isn't about you. It's about the case."

Lucifer didn't know what to make of that when Chloe turned to see one of the cameramen nearby and she shouted, "Hey. What are you doing?" The cameraman answered, "Changing a battery." Chloe marched over and shouted, "This is an active murder investigation." "I'm sorry," the cameraman interrupted. "My boss talked to your boss, and until you guys have a firm suspect, show goes on." Chloe got pissed and said, "OK, listen. Back off!" The cameraman sighed and said, "OK." and walked away.

Chloe turned around and brushed past Lucifer and said to Judd, "Sorry. Where were we?" Judd sighed and said, "Hey. Look, I'm sorry for the asshole act. It's just for the cameras." Lucifer saw the change in demeanor and asked, "What do you mean an act?" "It's the best way to win the cash," Judd revealed. "I've studied every season of The Cabin. Sixty-two percent of the time, the villain wins. So play the odds. That's the role I'm playing." Chloe sighed and asked, "Do you have an alibi?" "I was asleep in the cabin with the rest of the players," Judd answered. "They'll vouch for me." "OK," Chloe said. "Do you know if any of them have a grudge against Melinda?" "All of them," Judd answered. "I mean, it's a competition. And Melinda was the most competitive in the game. I mean, she acted all sweet and innocent, but that woman was crafty. I even heard she had some secret alliance going on. I'm telling you, ma'am, nobody is what they seem to be around here." "Yes," Lucifer replied. "Thank you." He and Chloe walked away as Chloe said, "OK, well, now wee have to talk to everybody." "Yes," Lucifer replied. "Well, at least we have out date to look forward to once we're done." Chloe nodded in agreement.

Back at Lux in Lucifer's penthouse, Maze had invited Linda to hang out with her and wanted company until Carlos came back. Lucifer had texted her to start training the boy. Linda arrived in work out gear which made Maze confused. Linda asked, "If you didn't come to spar, why did you invite me here? Oh wait. Are you going to teach me how to throw knives?" "No," Maze answered. "We're here because I don't feel welcome at the apartment. Plus, Lucifer wanted me to start training the kid. Anyway, Chloe thinks I'm going to eat Trixie or something." Linda started doing her boxing around Maze and said, "Ah. So you are sparing in a sense. With this Carlos kid that wants Lucifer's help. I can still train with you two. Also, Chloe just needs time to adjust. I didn't react well either when I first found out, remember? But now, look at me, I'm fine. In fact, better than ever. Bottom line, don't take things personally. OK. Knowing that Heaven and Hell, angels and demons exist, I mean, it's pretty scary stuff when you think about it." "So that's why you've gone full Tyson?" Maze asked. "The Goddess of Creation burns your face once and you freak out." "No," Linda said, huffing from her mini workout. "No. I mean, well, Pierce, I mean Cain, did threaten to send his thugs to murder me too, but, you know, who's counting?"

Maze rolled her eyes and said, "OK, champ. Let's take a break. At least until the kid gets back." "Oh, come on," Linda said now doing jumping jacks. "I'm fine. I've got tons of energy. Must be all the turmeric that I keep putting in all those smoothies." Maze heard the elevator doors open and Carlos walked out, he was about to say something, but then Linda collapsed and Carlos ran past Maze straight to Linda, getting on the ground next to her. "Linda!" Maze shouted, running to check on her friend. Carlos checked her pulse and her breathing and said, "She's breathing and she has a steady pulse. Maze, go get her some water and a towel." Maze was about to argue, but Carlos' eyes glowed red as he shouted, "Now!" Maze stood up and ran to get what Carlos requested as Carlos picked Linda up and carried her over to the couch and continued to monitor her.

Back at The Cabin sight, Chloe and Lucifer interviewed all of the other contestants, actually Chloe was the one doing the interviews and Lucifer stood behind her chiming in every so often. They didn't get much out of the contestants, they all had different opinions of Melinda and who he might of had an alliance with. Lucifer saw the last one, Kylie, out as Chloe groaned, "The more we talk to these people, the less clear things are. Judd was right. No one's who they seem." "Isn't that the point of these programs, Detective?" Lucifer asked. "To show there's no such thing as stereotypes. That in real life a Mary Ann might be hiding inside the body of a Ginger. Or vice versa, which is my personal preference, actually." "Right," Chloe agreed. "Take you, for example. History and religion have painted a pretty awful picture of you, haven't they?" "You couldn't be more right, Detective," Lucifer replied.

"So," Chloe asked. "You don't bite the heads off of children?" "No, of course not," Lucifer answered. "I detest the little creatures. And I'd certainly never put one in my mouth." "And yet you are now technically looking after one," Chloe commented, referring to Carlos. "Yes," Lucifer said. "Even though he's a teenager, he doesn't fully act like one. He seems like he's had to grow up fast. He hasn't told me everything yet, so I know he will in time. Mainly I'm curious about how he found out about me in the first place. And the things he can do, I am curious as to why he has those powers." "But," Chloe asked. "Do you understand the responsibility of being responsible for a child? Even one like Carlos?" Lucifer sighed and said, "He's a boy who needs my help, Detective. While I might not like children, that doesn't mean I won't help one that desperately needs my help. Even if he is hiding things from me." "So you won't bite his head off?" Chloe sarcastically asked. Lucifer chuckled and shook his head no.

Lucifer then sat down next to Chloe and said, "I'm glad you're curious, Detective. I was wondering when we'd get round to this conversation, so if you have any more questions, I'm all ears." "Well," Chloe replied. "Pierce. You killed him. So what was he? Like number nine million. And do you keep track?" "No," Lucifer answered. "Pierce, or, as I tried to tell you at the time when you wouldn't believe me, was actually Cain, was the first human I've ever killed. And truth be told, he wanted to die. Well, most of his immortal life, anyway." "What about Hell?" Chloe asked. Lucifer chuckled and replied, "Oh. Right. That's what this is about, isn't it? You probably want to know who's down there. Well, many may surprise you. Jim Morrison, for instance. Gary Coleman." "No, no," Chloe interrupted. "Hell. What's it like down there? All those people you tortured. Did you enjoy it?" Lucifer got a stern look on his face and answered, "It was a job, Detective. Something I was forced to do. Gosh. Someone's been reading Dante's Inferno." "Well," Chloe admitted. "I'll admit, I did a bit of research on my vacation. Which is why I wanted to get your side of things. But it seems a bunch of the stuff I read was way off. Just some stereotype, right?" "Right," Lucifer replied, but seemed off by what Chloe said.

Back at Lucifer's apartment, Maze had gotten what Carlos requested along with a glass of gin and Linda woke up. She looked up as Carlos said, "Glad to see you're doing OK." Maze leaned down and said, "Linda, you scared the shit out of me. Here, drink." She handed Linda a glass and Linda drank it, then spit it right back in. "OK," Linda admitted. "That's gin." Carlos glared at Maze and said, "I told you to get water." "I did," Maze said holding another glass along with the towel. "But only the top shelf for my girl, so I got her the good stuff after I got you." Carlos sighed as he took the water glass and handed it to Linda, who drank some and asked, "What happened?" "You passed out," Carlos answered. "Are you OK?" Linda stared at Carlos and said, "I feel fine. Thank you for asking. I assume you are Carlos?" Carlos smiled and said, "Yes I am. You must be Doctor Linda Martin. Nice to meet you. Now are you sure you're OK?" Linda nodded and said, "I'm probably just dehydrated."

She tried to stand up, but Maze pushed her back down and said, "I am not an expert on the human body, unless you count sex organs, and I'm pretty sure you are not suppose to randomly fall down." She got into Linda's face as Carlos asked, "What are you doing?" "Checking to see if your eyes are bleeding," Maze answered. "They clearly aren't," Carlos commented. Maze then stood up and walked over and pulled an old book from Lucifer's shelf and said, "I remember that Lucifer had this old medical book and I remember reading that bleeding eyes are bad." "OK," Linda said. "This book is from the 14th century." Maze closed it and said, "Fine, whatever. You're acting weird. And I'm not leaving you alone until you go see a you." "A what?" Linda asked. "I think she means she wants you to go and see a doctor," Carlos answered. Linda nodded in realization as Maze smiled at Carlos and said, "Thanks, kid. Now, I'm going to take her to a doctor. You need to stay here." Before Carlos could argue, Maze picked Linda up and walked her to the elevator. Carlos sighed, then said, "Maybe I could just go visit Lucifer again."

Over at LAPD, Lucifer was showing Ella a dress that he was going to give Chloe as a present for their date that evening. "Oh, my gosh!" Ella said. "You bought this for Chloe? That is so romantic, Lucifer! It's just like Indecent Proposal." Lucifer replied, "Well, I was thinking more like Pretty Woman, but yes. Yes, we're going to the opera. There's a special engagement of La Triviata in San Francisco. We leave by helicopter." "Wow," Ella commented. "That is going to be the best date ever." Lucifer stuffed the dress back in the box as Ella asked, "Isn't it?" Lucifer sighed and said, "Yes, well, at least I hope it is, 'cause if it isn't…" "What?" Ella asked. Lucifer sighed again and answered, "If it isn't, I'm afraid that she might disappear again. She's been acting a little odd lately. Like she's hiding something." "Lucifer," Ella assured him. "She's probably just as nervous about this date as you are. Trust me, when she sees this, it is going to be dress on, panties off. Lady shower all over…" "OK," Lucifer chuckled. "That's too much. Too much. I'm joking, I love it. Carry on."

"I shall," Ella replied. "But first I wanted to ask you about Carlos." Lucifer got a serious look on his face and asked, "Oh, what about him?" Ella sighed and said, "I think you upset him earlier when you blew him off. Don't get me wrong, this date with Chloe has been long overdue, but you have other responsibilities now. You're a guardian for that kid, and you need to make time for him." Lucifer was about to retort, but realized that Ella was right. "I guess you are correct, Miss Lopez," Lucifer admitted. "Carlos was thrown rather quickly onto me that I really didn't take into account the fact that he needs me as well. Yes, he asked for my help and I plan to give it to him like we agreed, but I guess I didn't think through what that meant entirely." "Now you know," Ella said. "Maybe you should spend some time with him after your date and get to know the kid. Maybe take up this training that he or you won't tell me about." Lucifer nodded as Ella continued, "Now back to your date…"

Chloe was sitting at her desk looking at Lucifer and Ella talking. She didn't know what to make of Lucifer at that moment. Sure the things Kinley told her about him were going through her brain, but she also remembers the man she knows as her partner and they don't connect fully. She pulled out the vial Kinley gave her and stared at it, unsure of what to do. She didn't see Carlos near the stairwell behind her and he noticed the vial in her hand. He was getting bad vibes from it and worried it had something to do with Lucifer. He saw Chloe stand up and walk to Ella's lab and Carlos discreetly followed her.

Chloe walked into the lab as Lucifer was telling Ella, "Miss Lopez, I'm enjoying this new side of you." "Hey, you guys," Chloe interrupted. Lucifer and Ella turned around and Lucifer said, "Detective." while Ella laid her arms on the dress box and asked, "Hey, Chloe. What's up?" Chloe then replied, "I know that we had plans to go out tonight, but I've been so preoccupied with this case, so do you mind if we postpone until it's solved?" Ella's heart went out to Lucifer as the man himself stuttered, "Yes, no, right. Of course. No rush." "OK, cool, thanks" Chloe replied and she walked out of the lab.

Ella gave Lucifer a big hug and said, "Oh, buddy, bring it in." Lucifer stuttered, "No, it's fine. It's fine, it's fine. Just a little hold up, that's all. You heard what she said. Solve the case and we're good to go." Ella gave Lucifer a loving tap as Lucifer stood there feeling down.

"Awkward." Lucifer and Ella looked up to see Carlos standing in the doorway of the lab. "Carlos!" Ella shouted as she ran over and gave the boy a hug. Lucifer sighed, "Carlos, I thought I told you to go back to Lux and train with Maze." "I did," Carlos answered. "But Linda was also there and she passed out. Don't worry, she's fine. But Maze is taking her to the doctor just in case. So I thought I would see what you were up to with the case. Sorry to hear about your date, Lucifer." Lucifer sighed and said, "Thank you. But don't worry. It's just postponed. But now my night is free. I suppose I will come back with you to Lux to oversee your first night and to start your training." Ella gave him a pat on the back and whispered, "Good call." And Carlos smiled and said, "Great. I would like that." Lucifer then turned to Ella and said, "Miss Lopez, why don't you go to the opera in my place? Take someone with you. My treat." Ella squealed and hugged Lucifer, causing Carlos to chuckle.

Later that night, Chloe met up with Kinley by a lighthouse. "Detective," Kinley said as he arrived. "I got your text. But I thought we were meeting at the penthouse in two hours." "Yes," Chloe said. "That's what I wanted to chat with you about. I sort of had to postpone my date with Lucifer until we solve this case. Didn't want work getting in the way of me roofying the Devil." Kinley seemed to know the real reason why and said, "Oh, Chloe. You're just stalling, aren't you? Are you having second thoughts?"

"Yes," Chloe revealed. "Everything that you've told me about Lucifer…" "You're finding it hard to believe," Kinley interrupted. "Yeah," Chloe replied. "Being around him again, I just don't see the same monster that you do." "No," Kinley said. "Of course you don't." "Have you met him?" Chloe asked. "Have you ever had a conversation with him?" "No," Kinley answered. "I'm sure he's the m most magnetic individual you ever met. Charming and eloquent. Funny. Kind, even." Chloe nodded and said, "Yeah. He is." "It's all an act," Kinley said. "Now, listen to me, Chloe. The Devil has been manipulating human beings since the beginning of time. If you don't respond favorably to something, well, he'll make an adjustment until you do. Anything to make sure he gets what he wants. Because the only person that he is interested in is himself." "But," Chloe argued. "He seems so real." "Yes," Kinley replied. "Listen. That's what he does. That's what he's been doing for thousands of years. Perfecting. Why do you think they call him the Prince of Lies?" Chloe shook her head and said, "No. Lucifer always tells the truth. Always. He does not lie." "What if this is the biggest lie of all?" Kinley asked. "And think about the boy he has with him now. That boy is in danger, Chloe. You must protect him from Lucifer. Only you can help him."

Speaking of said boy, Carlos was up in Lucifer's penthouse with the man himself having just wrapped up his first performance at Lux, which seemed to go over well. The music he played and sang to hit it off with the club goers, and no one seemed to realize that he was under 21; they were so wrapped up in his singing. Even Lucifer was impressed by the mood the club was in when Carlos was there.

Lucifer turned to Carlos and said, "All right. You just finished your first shift at Lux. Well done. Now, we will start with your first training with something simple. Your strength." "My strength?" Carlos asked. "Yes," Lucifer answered. "I want to see how strong you are and how it is triggered. Now throw your strongest punch at me." Carlos hummed, "You sure? I don't want to hurt you." "Don't worry," Lucifer stand as he stood in front of Carlos. "Now, hit me." Carlos sighed and he winded his arm back and throw a punch that Lucifer caught with his bare hand. "Good," Lucifer said. "You are strong, but something tells me that you are still holding back. Maybe we need to put a little more emotion into it. Pretend I am the biggest bully you have ever come across. I just pushed you down and you're getting angry. Picture that and…"

Suddenly Carlos' fist collided with his chest and Lucifer flew across the room towards the balcony. Carlos winced and said, "Sorry." Lucifer stood up and brushed off his shirt and said, "Better." "But," Carlos said. "Is it only anger that helps it? Because I'm not a fan of that." "Other emotions could bring it out," Lucifer said. "Sure, anger is one I use a lot, but if you can find a stronger emotion that will make you hit me clean off the balcony, then you win." Carlos thought for a moment, then smiled. Lucifer tilted his head in confusion, but Carlos then hit Lucifer harder then last time and Lucifer flew right off the balcony. Carlos cringed and ran out shouting, "Lucifer!"

He heard wings flapping behind him and turned to see Lucifer standing behind him with his wings out. "Impressive," Lucifer commented. He noticed that Carlos was looking at his wings, but not in the same way other humans did. "Those look awesome!" Carlos shouted. "How long are they? How do you hid them? How fast can you fly? How…" "OK," Lucifer put his hand up as he hid his wings back where they usually hide and said, "All those questions can be answered at a later date. But I am surprised by your response to them. Usually humans go braindead after seeing them." Carlos shrugged and said, "I guess I'm different. Plus, I've seen weirder stuff. Trust me."

Lucifer knew there was more to that statement that Carlos was hiding, but didn't press it as part of their deal. He did ask, "So, what emotion did you use to punch me out of my penthouse?" "My friends," Carlos said. "And…someone who is very special to me. I thought of them and how much I would give to protect them, and there you go." Lucifer hummed, "Oh, someone special. A lady, perhaps? Or gentleman, whatever your preferences." Carlos chuckled and said, "A girl. She's special, that's for sure. But maybe I'll talk about her at a later date." Lucifer nodded and said, "You also said friends." "My core," Carlos answered. "We were known as the Core 4 back where I grew up. If anyone messed with us, they would be sorry. We protected each other. Rotten to the core, as we always said to each other." "Interesting motto," Lucifer commented. "Now, let's continue."

The next morning, Chloe was watching Lucifer enter LAPD with coffee and pastries. She didn't know that Carlos suggested that Lucifer did this as a nice gesture. When Lucifer asked, Carlos said, "If you want to impress Chloe, then maybe you should show her that you are a good man." Lucifer agreed to that logic and did just that.

Ella noticed Chloe staring at Lucifer and asked, "What you looking at?" Chloe pulled back and lied, "Just some schmutz on the window." Ella went along with it, not fully buying it, when Lucifer walked in and said, "Ah, good morning, Detective." He handed her a coffee and Chloe gave him a thank you in reply. Lucifer gave another to Ella and said, "Miss Lopez. I trust you had a pleasant evening." "I did," Ella replied. "I took my abuelita to the opera. It was incredible." "Right," Lucifer said. "So your text said that you had a new lead, Miss Lopez." "Uh, yes," Ella replied. "Hold, please."

She ran off to get what she found as Lucifer said, "I wonder what she's got for us. Exciting, isn't it? Cannot wait to solve this case. You?" "Same," Chloe answered trying to hide her emotions. "Good, good," Lucifer said. "Because, obviously, the sooner we solve the case, the sooner we go on our date. Unless, of course, you were using the case to back out." "No, we're still on," Chloe replied. "I even marked it on my calendar." "Wonderful," Lucifer said. "On your calendar."

"OK," Ella came back into the room with what she found. "So who is ready for some stomach contents?" "Me," Lucifer answered with Chloe shaking her head in disbelief. "I know," Ella replied. "I love this part so much. OK, so we've got rice, coconut, snails, all typical for someone on a survival reality show. Here's what's not typical. We got sugar, flour, cacao, raisins, cherries, and rum." "Oh," Lucifer knew the answer. "Those are the ingredients of Hungarian rum balls." Ella stared at Lucifer and said, "That is oddly specific and actually a pretty good guess." "I spent a lot of time with Attila, back in the day," Lucifer commented. "Detective, I can tell you all about it later, on our date." Chloe hummed and asked, "Ella, were the rum balls used as a reward on the show?" "Not that I saw," Ella answered. "But I can check with the show's catering, if there was anything like that on set." "Good idea, Miss Lopez," Lucifer replied. "Let's find those balls." Chloe shook her head as she walked out, mainly at Lucifer's comment.

Later that night, Carlos had done his setlist for Lux and was standing outside the club in an alleyway getting some air. Playing music for people was fun to a point as he really didn't like it when people who clearly had too much to drink tried to make a scene. One drunk man tried to request a song, but Carlos said no. The man got angry and was about to hit him when Carlos stood up and told the man to back away and leave, using an angry tone that made the room vibrate a little, causing one person's glass of alcohol to suddenly break. The man did just that as Carlos' persuasion powers worked. But then the guy's friend got angry and tried to start a fight, but Carlos just dodged and used his strength to pin him to the ground before security came and took over. Carlos felt his anger start to rise and he told one of the guards that he was done for the night and needed some air. He didn't want his powers to get out of control as he felt his emotions rise and he didn't want to accidentally hurt someone by making them do something horrible to themselves or telekinetically hit them with something and they get injured.

He sighed as he calmed himself down. He pulled out the mirror and asked where Lucifer was. The mirror showed him and Chloe arriving back at the set of The Cabin. "Maybe I should go and meet up with him," Carlos thought. "Some peace and quiet in the woods might do me some good right now."

Chloe and Lucifer found Maury so that they could ask him questions about Melinda. Chloe confronted him, "Mr. Movak, we spoke to catering and they said you special order a few of your food items." Lucifer grew impatient and said, "Let's just cut to the chase, shall we? 'Cause, places to be, Detective." That statement actually had a double meaning to Lucifer as one, Lucifer just wanted the case to be over so he could have his date with Chloe, and two, he needed to get back to Lux to check in with Carlos and for another training session. "Show us your balls, Maury." "Excuse me?" Maury asked. "Ah-ha!" Lucifer exclaimed, pointing to the very item he was asking about. "Are those or are those not your Hungarian balls?" "Uh, yes," Maury answered. "Thought as much," Lucifer replied as he pulled a pair of handcuffs from his pocket. "Right, case closed, Detective."

He tried to handcuff Maury, but Chloe stopped him, "Lucifer, what are you…Are those my handcuffs?" "Might be," Lucifer answered. Chloe took them from him and turned to Maury saying, "I apologize. We just have a few questions about your…the rum balls. We know that Melinda consumed a few of your… well… uh, within an hour of her murder." "So you're clearly the killer," Lucifer accused. Lucifer tried to get the handcuffs from Chloe, but she batted his hand away.

Maury stuttered, "I actually…I did give Melinda a couple of my…these treats. But I didn't hurt her. OK? Her death is a terrible loss. For me and the show." "Why do you say that?" Chloe asked. Maury sighed and said, "The show's ratings have been lower than ever this season and I had to do something. So I approached Melinda. I offered her a little bit of food in exchange for a favor." "Oh," Lucifer commented. "Now that I understand. What was the favor?" "Melinda was the fan favorite," Maury answered. "I wanted to help her win. But in the most entertaining way possible. I had this whole drama laid out. It was gonna be ratings gold." "And what?" Chloe asked. "She turned you down?" "And you got so upset that you smashed her in the head," Lucifer added. "Look," Maury answered. "I may be a ratings whore, but I would never do that."

"Do you know if Melinda was conspiring with anyone else on her plan?" Chloe asked. "I don't know," Maury replied. Lucifer could tell he was hiding something, "Oh, come on! It was you two having the secret affair. You both met up to enjoy your balls and then you killed her. Just admit it so I can go on my bloody date and get back for training!" Chloe pulled him away and whispered, "Lucifer. You really only care about yourself, don't you?" Lucifer was hurt by that and said, "Well, if that's what you think, Detective, maybe I should go. Carlos is waiting for me anyway."

Lucifer walked away as Maury cleared his throat, "I want to be honest. I wasn't having an affair with Melinda. But I do know who was." He then took her to the camera feeds and showed footage of Melinda with Kylie, another contestant, making out in one of the bathrooms. "Is that Kylie?" Chloe asked. "Yep, that's her," Maury answered. "Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?" Chloe asked. "Uh," Maury answered. "You know, filming a bathroom, that's kind of illegal, so…" Chloe remembered that Kylie told her that she never hung out with Melinda and commented, "So much for Kylie not hanging out with Melinda. Where is Kylie?" I need to speak with her." Maury pulled up other footage and said, "She should be at the axing ceremony." Chloe looked at the camera feeds and didn't see her, "Where is she?" "Wait," Maury noticed. "Kylie's not there."

Chloe noticed something in the feed of the cabin and said, "Hang on, is that her? What is she doing?" They saw her trying to break something and Maury said, "That's the gas line." Chloe chuckled, "Is she gonna blow up the cabin? What…Why would she do that?" "Oh my God," Maury replied. "I have no idea."

Carlos had pulled up to the filming set on his vespa and took his helmet off. He saw Lucifer's car and decided to walk around. He saw the cabin and saw Lucifer walking into the cabin. He could tell that Lucifer was upset at something and ran after him.

Lucifer stood in the cabin trying to calm himself. He knew that he should just leave and head back to Lux, but he wanted to calm himself before he hit the road and saw that the cabin was empty so he could have a little peace and quiet.

Carlos ran up to the front of the cabin and saw a girl, Kylie, running away from it as fast as she could. Carlos shouted, "Stop!" Kylie froze and Carlos ran over to her and saw that she looked angry, but guilty. So he asked, "What are you doing? Did you do something you shouldn't have?" Kylie started to cry and said, "I just…" Then the cabin exploded in a fiery rage, knocking both of them backwards. Carlos recovered quickly and ran to the front shouting, "Lucifer!" A flame shot out and grazed Carlos' arm, which started to burn the coat he was wearing. Carlos, panicking, started to pat his hand on it, not caring if he would burn his hand, but was surprised that he didn't feel it. He looked at his hand and it looked fine, no burn marks.

He looked up and saw Lucifer walking out of the fire, unharmed. He stopped and saw Carlos standing there and said, "Carlos. What are you doing here? And get away from the fire. You'll burn." "I'm sorry," Carlos said. "I just wanted to find you. Something happened at Lux….and I wanted to meet up with you. I saw this girl running away….I stopped her, but then this happened. A flame shot out and grazed my arm, but…" He then walked forward and reached his hand into the fire, causing Lucifer to shout, "Don't!" but was then surprised when Carlos put his hand into the fire and the boy didn't cry out in pain. Carlos pulled his hand back and Lucifer saw that his hand was fine. No burns on it. Lucifer looked up at Carlos and asked, "Did you know about this?" Carlos shook his head and said, "No. This is new for me. I didn't feel anything. But why?"

Before Lucifer could ask more, Chloe ran over to the pair of them. Lucifer stopped her from coming closer and walked to her saying, "I wouldn't go in there, Detective. It's hotter than…well, you know." Chloe was shocked, "It blew up. I saw it. I was so scared, but you walked right through it. You're fine. You're completely fine." "Well, it's one of the perks of living in a fiery pit of despair most of my life." Chloe then turned to Carlos and said, "What are you doing here? You tried to run in to save Lucifer. But how…" "I don't know," Carlos said. "This is new for me too. But before this happened…" He turned and saw Kylie trying to stand and he walked over and hoisted here up and dragged her to Lucifer and Chloe.

"Start talking," Carlos commanded. Kylie stuttered, "I didn't know anybody was in there. Oh, wow. Thank God you're OK. And you." "Well," Lucifer replied. "He certainly had nothing to do with it." Carlos then said, "Keep going." Kylie cried, "I'm sorry, I just…I needed to burn it all down. I needed for it to be over. I can't believe I almost did it again." "Did what again?" Chloe asked. Kylie went quiet, then Carlos said, "Answer her question." Kylie sighed, "I never thought she'd go for me. I mean, for one, she was straight, but Melinda was so sweet. Can you believe she thought I was sweet? No one ever thinks I'm sweet. So I saw Melinda go into Maury's cabin that night. And I knew I'd been a total idiot. She'd completely fooled me." "What if we told you Melinda wasn't sleeping with Maury?" Lucifer said. "Yeah," Kylie replied. "That's what she said, too. But she also wouldn't tell me what she was doing, so I knew she was lying about something. Whatever it was, I was being played. So I got upset. I just pushed her in the lagoon. But I guess she hit her head. I would never…whatever she'd done, I loved her."

Cop cars and firetrucks soon came to the scene and Melinda was arrested and the fire was put out. Lucifer turned to Carlos and said, "Wait for me by my car. I need to talk to the Detective alone." Carlos nodded and walked away. Lucifer turned to Chloe and said, "Well, then I guess that's case closed. Detective, I understand that you and me, it's…The last thing I want to do is push you into something you don't want. So if you're not ready or you don't want to go on a date with me…" Chloe interrupted, "No, I do. I do want to." "Really?" Lucifer asked. "Right, well, it's late, so why don't you finish up here, get some rest, do whatever paperwork you need to do tomorrow, and then Ii'll pick you up around 7 tomorrow night?" "Uh," Chloe answered. "Why don't II just meet you at your place?" "Even better," Lucifer replied. He turned to walk away as Chloe said, "Wait. I have a question. Do you know what's up with Carlos? I mean, he didn't get burned. What is going on with him?" Lucifer sighed and said, "I don't know Detective. And to be honest, I don't think he fully knows either." He then walked away and Chloe stood there, sighing to herself.

Carlos was standing at his vespa with the mirror out. He saw the entire conversation and thought, "Chloe is interested in me, huh? Well, right now, I don't trust her. That vial she had. She's planning something and it involves Lucifer." He put the mirror back into his jacket when Lucifer walked up and said, "Now, are you alright? And shame on you for risking your life like that Do you understand what could of happened if you weren't invulnerable to fire?" "Sorry," Carlos said. "I just wanted to find you. I was playing at Lux, some drunks tried to fight with me, I got upset and used my powers on them, and I didn't want it to escalate so I left to come here. I saw that girl running and….I just wanted to help. I always want to help. I was afraid that you…" Lucifer stopped him by saying, "I get it. You were concerned. Don't worry. You don't have to worry about me. I'm the Devil, remember." Carlos chuckled and said, "I guess so." Lucifer smiled and said, "Now. We should had back to Lux. No training for tonight. You need to rest. A lot happened in one day. Plus, I need to rest up for my date tomorrow night." "Nice," Carlos said as he put on his helmet. Lucifer hopped into his car and drove off, Carlos following him on his vespa.

The next morning, Linda was sitting in her office when her phone rang. She answered it and it was the doctor Maze took her to. She was startled by what she was told, not believing it. Then she realized that she needed to track down Amenadiel, right now. Not even thinking about calling Maze to tell her what was going on.

Carlos was sitting in the bedroom of the guest level thinking about last night. Lucifer had brought him back to Lux and Carlos told him fully what happened. Lucifer understood that club goers could be drunk idiots as that is a sad part about humanity sometimes. He said that it was the right decision to leave Lux before his emotions got the better of him and his control over his powers would break. Lucifer then pulled out his lighter and held it under Carlos' palm and his hand didn't burn. Lucifer didn't know what to make of it and deduced that Carlos was invulnerable. That shook Carlos a little as he had many scars on him from his past that proved otherwise, but he guessed that since leaving the Isle and its magical barrier made this side of him come out. Lucifer then told him that they could discuss this fully later. Carlos was a little miffed by that but he could tell that Lucifer was preoccupied with thoughts on his upcoming date with Chloe.

Carlos sighed and pulled out the mirror. He hated spying on Lucifer, but he remembered that vial that Chloe had and worried for Lucifer's safety. He knew that Chloe was on her way to Lucifer's penthouse. Lucifer had given Carlos the night off so that he could have a break from Lux before having to interact with drunk people again. He stared at the mirror and said, "Mirror, mirror, small as a mouse, show me Lucifer's penthouse." The mirror showed the penthouse and saw Lucifer trying to finish setting everything up. He saw Chloe walk and and thought, "Maybe I should keep my eye on her instead of him for now."

Chloe walked out of the elevator and said, "Hi, Lucifer." Lucifer smiled and said, "Detective, you look beautiful." "Thank you," Chloe replied. "No white tablecloth this time?" Lucifer chuckled, remembering their first attempt at a date a couple years ago, and said, "No, well, that went down like a pork chop at a kosher wedding, so I made some adjustments." "Of course you did," Chloe commented. "Well, it's very thoughtful."

Lucifer smiled and said, "Please, sit. I made you grilled cheese. Your favorite. And not the smelly, fancy stuff. Just the yummy orange kind that you like." He brought the sandwiches over and gave her hers and set his down. He poured the wine and said, "Detective, there is something I'd like to say to you. Whilst I realize that knowing the truth about me may not be easy for you, I am glad that there are no secrets between us now. And gif you ever have any more questions, I shall be happy to answer any and all of them. I've always been honest with you, Detective. And I always will be." Chloe smiled, but felt guilty that she couldn't say the same right now.

"Oh!" Lucifer's shout caught Chloe off guard. "Sorry. Silly me. I forgot the music. I made a playlist full of bad 90s jams for you." He got up and walked into his bedroom to turn the music on. Chloe took this opportunity to take the vial out. She opened it and with her trembling hand, and reached over to Lucifer's glass to pour it, but then the music turned on and it was loud. She bumped into his glass and it fell over and shattered. She gasped, quickly put the vial away and shouted, "Lucifer! I…I'm sorry, I…" Lucifer walked back in and said, "Sorry. Didn't realize I'd left it so loud. I'll get it. No, I've got it, Detective. Don't wor…Ow!" His hand got cut by the broken glass and Chloe saw this, "You're bleeding." Lucifer sighed, "Oh. I'm fine. I'm fine."

He walked over to grab a towel, and Chloe followed him, "You're bleeding and, no, it's not fine. You know what, yes, I do have a question for you. How is it that you walk away from a giant, fiery explosion without a scratch, but right now you are bleeding? You are shot in the hand a few nights ago. You almost died when Malcolm shot you in the gut. I mean, I shot you. And II felt horribly about that, by the way. But what is this? Is anything even real with you? Were you trying to manipulate me? Were you trying to make me feel bad? Is this all to make me care about you more?" "No," Lucifer answered. "Then what?" Chloe asked. "How is it that sometimes you don't get hurt and then, other times you do? What is the difference?" "You are, Detective," Lucifer answered calmly. "I don't fully understand why, but I'm only vulnerable when I'm close to you."

They stared at each other as Chloe processed this new information. Then her phone buzzed and she pulled it out, "It's a text from Ella to call her immediately." She called Ella and said, "Hey." Ella replied on the other side, "So final autopsy report just came back. Tool marks on Melinda's skull aren't consistent with a rock or anything like that. Something with a right angle hit her head." "Maybe she hit the pier when Kylie pushed her," Chloe suggested. "But three times?" Ella commented. "I mean, we're not sure what it is, but it's got to be something square, something rectangular, like maybe a brick." Chloe then realized, "I think I have an idea of who it is. If I'm right, Kylie's not the killer, but I'll call you from the car, OK?"

She hung up and walked toward the elevator. Lucifer tried to follow her, but she turned around and said, "No. I think I should do this on my own. For now." She entered the elevator and the doors closed, with Lucifer looking sad.

Chloe was then puzzled when the elevator stopped and the doors opened to reveal Carlos, glaring at her. "Hello, Chloe," Carlos said as he entered the elevator and the doors closed behind him. He then hit the emergency button and the elevator stopped. Chloe got nervous and said, "What are you doing? I have to go. There's been…." "A development on the case," Carlos finished for her. "I know. I was listening. And watching." Chloe gulped as Carlos held out his hand and the vial flew out of her pocket and into his hand. "I saw you trying to slip this into Lucifer's drink. What is it? Poison? Something else? Maybe I should try and see…" He started to raise the vial to his lips but Chloe shouted, "Stop!" Carlos lowered it and chuckled, "Interesting. So this is something meant to harm Lucifer. And here I thought you liked him. He cares deeply for you. So tell me, why are you betraying Lucifer like this?" Chloe held her tongue so Carlos stared at her and his eyes glowed read and he commanded, "Tell me what this is." Chloe revealed, "It's a sedative. Father Kinley gave it to me because he said that Lucifer is a danger here on Earth and he needs to return to Hell so Kinley was going to perform an exorcism on him after I give him that. For everyone's safety. Even yours."

Carlos chuckled and surprisingly handed Chloe back the vial and said, "You know, not everything you read or hear about someone is true. In order to learn the truth, you should go to the man himself instead of listening to lies from other people. That's why I'm here. To learn from the man himself. I want to get to know him for who he really is. And once I do, then I can decide if I trust him or not. Maybe you should do the same." Chloe shouted, "You're being just as secretive as he is! And how are you so calm about this? He's the Devil. You shouldn't be in his care like this. But then again, I don't know what to think." Carlos sighed and said, "Lying to him like this won't do you any good. A good friend of mine did the same thing, and it came to bite her in the ass hard. And as to why I am here, that's none of your business. Especially since this act tells me that I shouldn't trust you. Maybe you should think about what you were about to do and think about the true man you've known compared to what you read. Which do you want to believe in?"

Carlos hit the emergency button and the elevator started moving again, "Just so you know, I'll be watching you. And you should decide if you are going to tell the truth to Lucifer. I'll be nice and not say anything to him. But the clock is ticking." The elevator doors opened and Carlos stepped out, holding the door open for her. Chloe stepped out and asked, "But what's your role in this? Why are you here? What do you want with Lucifer?" Carlos chuckled and said, "Wouldn't you like to know? But nice try. Maybe if you somehow earn my trust, then you can get the answer to that. Now, I believe you has a break in the case you needed to check on." Chloe then walked away while Carlos stood next to the elevator thinking, "I have a feeling that Lucifer will be coming down to follow her any minute now."

Sure enough, not a few minutes later, the elevator doors opened and out stepped Lucifer, who saw Carlos standing there and asked, "What are you doing down here?" "Waiting for you," Carlos answered. "I figured you would go after Chloe." "I would have come down quicker," Lucifer commented. "But this bloody elevator wouldn't come back up for a while." "Sorry," Carlos admitted. "That's on me. I stopped the elevator to talk with Chloe." "You what?" Lucifer shouted. "Don't worry," Carlos said. "I just wanted to talk to her. To tell her that I don't trust her. And that she needs to work on earning my trust." Lucifer then asked, "Why did you confront her like that?" Carlos sighed, "Because I feel she's not being 100% honest with you. Not like you are. Plus, I want to watch your back. You seem like you've been hurt before and I want to help you." Lucifer was shocked at Carlos' admission and asked, "Why?" Carlos smiled and said, "Because I care. Just one lost soul looking out for another." Lucifer wanted to ask more, but he knew that Carlos wouldn't be all forthcoming to him yet and was more concerned about Chloe, "Do you know where the Detective went?" "My guess," Carlos answered. "Back to the set of The Cabin. I think the killer is there." "Good," Lucifer said. "You need to stay here." "But I can help," Carlos said. "Working together is better than working alone." Lucifer realized Carlos was right, and even though he didn't like the thought of a child following him into potential danger, he said, "Come on then." Carlos smirked and ran off with Lucifer.

Chloe arrived back at the set of The Cabin and went to one of the buildings and found the cameraman she was looking for. "Hi," Chloe said to him. "Sorry to interrupt, but I have a search warrant to look at your camera equipment." The cameraman looked up from where he was looking and said, "I thought you guys already arrested someone for Melinda's murder." Chloe nodded as she walked over to the camera equipment and said, "Yep. Some new information has come to light, however. So you're a cameraman, was it?" "Yeah," thee cameraman answered. "How long have you been working on the show?" Chloe asked. "Oh," the cameraman answered. "Since season 1. All 27 seasons." "All 27," Chloe commented. "Wow, that's a long time." She grabbed a cloth and pulled out a piece of equipment shaped like a brick and saw it had blood on it. "And, uh, who else has access to this equipment?" The cameraman pulled an axe out while Chloe's back was turned and answered, "I'm in charge of wit, but II guess anyone could get access if they tried."

Nearby, Lucifer and Carlos arrived and saw the cameraman approaching Chloe. "OK," Carlos whispered. "What's the plan?" "Well," Lucifer said. "We need to sneak in without him noticing." "Can't I just shout and tell him to walk out here?" Carlos asked. "No," Lucifer said. "Plus, we are too far away and I don't know if your powers work from a distance like this." But before Carlos could argue that they could, Lucifer ran ahead as he saw thee cameraman lift the axe. "Great," Carlos muttered as he ran after him.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," the cameraman told Chloe. She was trying to go for her gun, but didn't want to provoke him. "OK, listen. It's all right, I just want to talk. I want to get your side of things. So I assume that it was you who had the alliance with Melinda?" "Yeah," the cameraman answered. "Since day one. You know why she was America's sweetheart? Because I made her that way. I even stole that stupid Teflon Totem for her. She was gonna win because of me. And we were supposed to split the money. She promised." "And then she betrayed you," Chloe deduced. The cameraman nodded and said, "Melinda bailed on me for Kylie. That stupid bitch. But then they got in this big fight and, you know I thought maybe, me and Melinda were back on, you know? But then, when i asked her about it that night, no." "Must've been really frustrating," Chloe commented. "Do you know how many years I spent watching these morons win piles of money, sitting on their stupid asses, eating coconuts, while I busted mine 24/7? All they do is bitch about how hungry they are. I'm sick of it."

He then throw the axe at Chloe as she drew out her gun and Lucifer ran in shooting, "Detective! No!" He stood in front of the axe, and Carlos ran in and threw his hand up and used his powers to push the axe away, and barely missed Lucifer and got thee side of his jacket. Chloe shot the cameraman in the leg. Security then ran in and took the cameraman away to be arrested.

Chloe ran over to Lucifer to check on him and whispered, "Lucifer. Oh my God." "Oh," Lucifer replied as he was pinned to the wall. "Well, there's an oxymoron." Chloe looked for a wound, but found none and said, "It's just your jacket. You're OK." Chloe pulled the axe off and Lucifer dusted himself off, "Hardly. it's the second suit I've ruined in as many days, but thanks to Carlos here, I'm OK." Chloe turned to see Carlos standing there, who waved and said, "Hello again. Sorry, Lucifer, that I couldn't persuade the axe to go further away from you. Still learning I guess." "Could you give us a moment?" Lucifer asked. Carlos nodded and gave a look to Chloe then walked out of the building.

Lucifer turned back to Chloe and asked, "Are you OK?" Chloe took several deep breaths and held the axe up to Lucifer's chest and asked, "If I pushed this into your chest, it would kill you?" "Yes," Lucifer answered. "Because I'm close to you?" Chloe asked. "Yes," Lucifer answered. "But you jumped in front of it anyway," Chloe commented. "Yes," Lucifer replied. "And I would do it again. And again. Don't you know that, Detective?"

Chloe pulled the axe back and saw a line of blood going down his chest and she gasped, "I'm sorry." Lucifer gave her a small smile and said, "It's OK. You needed to see for yourself. Now you know. I keep no secrets from you, Detective. Like I said earlier. No more secrets. Agreed?" Chloe meekly nodded her head, but she couldn't bring herself in that moment to tell him about the vial she had. Carlos was just outside listening in and thought to himself, "She won't tell him. Chloe, you need to be honest. He's begging you to. I fear if he finds out through someone else, he'll take it poorly. I know what's it like to be deceived. She needs to come clean or this won't end well."

Over at Lux, Amenadiel was sitting at one of the tables after a hard day. He tried to take Dan to a concert but was turned down, and he tried to help several people, but they were mean and once even stole his wallet. He came to Lux because Maze told him that the job Lucifer gave Carlos was a music performer for the club and Amenadiel wanted to see what this kid was all about for himself.

Suddenly a lady sat next to him and said, "So! What you drinking? Oh, wait, let me guess. You look like a gin guy. No, something spicier. Am I right, you spicy man? Tequila? Ha! Yeah, tequila. It's macho." Amenadiel was not liking this woman at all, but was saved when he heard someone call his name. He turned and saw Linda standing there. The strange lady tried to interrupt but then Linda said, "I'm pregnant." The lady took that as a cue and walked away. Amenadiel stood up and walked over to Linda with a smile on his face. And Linda returned a smile to him.

The next day, Chloe was sitting near the lighthouse and Father Kinley walked over and sat next to her. "Thank you for meeting me," Chloe told him. Kinley sat down and asked, "You're still having second thoughts?" "No, actually," Chloe answered. "I've made up my mind. I'm not going to help you. I won't hurt Lucifer like that." Kinley sighed, "We've been through this, Chloe. All you have to do is give him the sedative. I will perform the exorcism." Chloe then said, "I know that you think he's some evil monster. But I know in my heart that you're wrong. Even if he used to be that thing in the books, he's not anymore. At least not around me. And especially not around Carlos. I'm sorry, but I won't do it." Kinley shook his head and said, "We can't do this without you Chloe." "Oh, I know," Chloe replied. "And I know why. It's because I make him vulnerable and you must have known that." "I suspected," Kinley revealed. "There are writings." "Yes," Chloe interrupted. "I know what the books say. But the very fact that I make him vulnerable means that he's changed, or at least that he is changing. And he is helping Carlos and Carlos is helping him like I am. I don't know what to say to convince you. Maybe one day you'll see what I see." "Maybe," Kinley whispered as Chloe got up and walked away.

Later that night in Lucifer's penthouse, Lucifer was sitting on the couch while Carlos was playing quietly on the piano. "So," Lucifer said. "We did some training. Now it's time for a question for a question." Carlos chuckled and said, "That's fair. And thanks for holding off on figuring out this whole invulnerable thing. I think just knowing fire doesn't harm me is enough for now." Lucifer nodded then asked, "Have you been injured in the past?" "Physically," Carlos replied, "Yes. I have scars on my body to prove that I have been injured in the past. My question, why did you come to LA?" "I got bored," Lucifer answered. "Being King of Hell isn't the glamorous gig people think. I wanted to be free. Now, why don't you trust the Detective?" Carlos stopped playing and answered, "Like I've said, because she's hiding something from you. And she should be the one to tell you what. Just give her time. I know it's hard to do but it's what needs to be done. Hearing it from me would make things worse. Trust me. I know all about it." "Do you now?" Lucifer muttered. "But know this," Carlos continued. "Like I told you, I will tell you everything you want to know about me. Just be patient. That's all I'm asking. And for Chloe as well. Opening up is hard. Trust must be built both ways." "Fine," Lucifer said as Carlos asked, "So, why do you play the piano?" Lucifer chuckled and answered, "It's comforting. I suppose it's the same for you." Carlos nodded and said, "I taught myself. My mom…..she didn't like it. Maybe because I also taunted her with one song in particular when she was being…"

Carlos didn't finish that sentence and grew quiet. Lucifer stood up and walked over and sat next to Carlos, "Your mother wasn't nice to you, was she?" Carlos shook his head and said, "Story for another time. I don't like talking about her." "Fair enough," Lucifer said. "I don't like talking about Dad, so I understand."

Lucifer's phone beeped and he saw a message from Chloe about rescheduling their date. He and Carlos heard the elevator doors open and Lucifer saiid, "Texting from the elevator, Detect…" But Kinley was the one who came out of the elevator and Lucifer asked, "Who are you?" Carlos felt a sense of dread around the priest and immediately didn't trust him. Kinley walked forward and said, "I'm Father Kinley. I'm here because there's something you need to know about Chloe Decker….."
