A few days have passed since Chloe and Lucifer's talk in the penthouse. Chloe was at an airport as a crime had been committed. She met Dan there who asked, "No Lucifer tonight?" Chloe honestly said, "No. Actually, he and I aren't working together anymore." "What?" Dan asked. "For real? What happened?" Chloe sighed, "You know, I don't really want to talk about it." "OK," Dan replied. "You're OK though, right?" "Totally," Chloe lied. "Totally fine. You know, I was fine before Lucifer, I'll be fine after. It's really for the best." "Alright," Dan said. "No arguments from me."
They walked over to Ella who was taking pictures of the victim and Chloe asked, "What do we have here?" "Pablo Silva," Dan answered. "Hotshot jeweley designer from Beverly Hills, just got back from the Middle East." Ella added, "Cause of death, pretty obvious. Manual strangulation. Not a fun way to go. Unless it's your thing." "Ella found pistachio shells under the body," Dan commented. "Which is weird," Ella said. "Because there's no pistachios anywhere on the plane."
"But the cabin's full of other greet stuff," Dan added. "Shrooms, weed, coke." "Might want to keep Lucifer away from the evidence if you don't want any to go missing," Ella said then looked around and asked, "Wait a second. Where's Lucifer?" Dan made a stop talking motion with his hand and Ella misinterpreted, "He was decapitated?" "No," Chloe answered. "He's not going to be working with us anymore." "Let's just focus on the case, OK?" Dan begged.
"Who found the body?" Chloe asked. Ella pointed, "Uh, over there." She pointed to a man named Toby Golden and Chloe and Dan walked over to him. "Toby Golden?" Chloe asked. "You co-owned Golden Silva Jewelers with Pablo?" "Yeah," Toby answered. "We built it together, ground up. Pablo handles creative, I handle business. Have you found the necklace?" "Not yet," Dan answered. "What necklace?" Chloe asked. Toby answered, "Pablo was transporting our latest piece, The Desert Mirage. It's a $3 million original he finished in Dubai." "Why Dubai?" Chloe asked. Toby answered, "It's where we get our best deals, using gold and diamonds." "And you were here to pick him up?" Chloe asked. "No," Toby replied. "My assistant and I were prepping for an investors' meeting and I didn't hear his voicemail until after we were finished. I come racing down here and, you know, I find him like this." "Can we hear that voicemail?" Dan asked.
Toby pulls it up on his phone and plays it, "Hey, Toby. It's Pablo. I messed up, man. I'm in some serious debt with these dangerous dudes and I kind of promised to give them the Mirage. They're on their way over for it, but it's gone. Someone must have…Oh, no. They're already here." They heard other voices speaking another language and Dan recognized it, "Arabic." "Do you know who Pablo was referring to there?" Chloe asked. Toby sighed, "I didn't even know he was in any kind of trouble until this." "Well," Dan asked. "Do you know anyone who speaks Arabic?" "A lot of our business associates," Toby revealed. "Really?" Chloe responded. "Great. OK, we'll need a list of those people."
Chloe and Dan turned and walked away with Chloe saying, "Maybe Pablo's dangerous dudes killed him because he didn't get their payment." Dan then realized, "Wait, pistachios. There's a thug that I heard of, eats those things obsessively. The dude definitely qualifies as dangerous. And guess what his first language is?" "Please say Arabic," Chloe begged. "Yep," Dan affirmed. "A guy named Turkish Pete." "But Arabic isn't Turkish," Chloe pointed out. "And Turkish Pete isn't Turkish," Dan replied. "He's the right hand man for an Arab criminal concierge by the name of Bashir Al-Fassad. It could be them. I'll take a look, make some phone calls." "Great," Chloe said as Dan walked away.
She turned to walk away when Ella stopped, "You. Lucifer. Spill." "Oh, everything's fine," Chloe lied. "Nuh-uh," Ella caught the lie. "You don't get to do that. Come on, my sister senses are tingling. Come on." Chloe sighed, "Lucifer and I had a big fight." "It's OK," Ella reassured. "Fights are totally normal." "No," Chloe disagreed. "Not this one. He and I have some pretty serious issues that I don't think can be resolved." "How is Lucifer handling it?" Ella asked. "Well," Chloe replied. "I don't really know, but it's Lucifer, so I'm sure he is just fine. Plus, he has Carlos to keep him company."
Over at Lux, Lucifer was stumbling down the steps in his club. He really hasn't come out of his penthouse for a few days. Carlos had to come to him to keep him company and to continue training, even though Lucifer wasn't fully participating like Carlos would like. It was mostly Carlos doing the actions and Lucifer sitting lazily on the couch coaching him. Lucifer was in a rut and even though Carlos' company put him back to reality slightly, once the boy left, back to the rut he went. Carlos knew that Chloe's betrayal hit Lucifer personally and wanted to give Lucifer some time to mourn, but Carlos was starting to get worried. He didn't want to see his dad, even though Lucifer didn't know that, to suffer like this, so he told Lucifer to come down to the club for a bit to hear some of his setlist and get some fresh air. Lucifer agreed and came down while the club was in full swing.
Lucifer looked over and saw Carlos playing on the piano, playing along with the pop song that was playing over the stereo in the club. Lucifer smiled softly at the kid and thought, "Look at him. All happy. But I'm not. Maybe some more alcohol and a song from Carlos might cheer me up." He stalked over to the bar and started to grab some drinks. One of the bartenders said, "Mr. Morningstar. We're going to need those." "Not as much as I do," Lucifer countered. "Business is booming tonight," The bartender said. "Thanks to that kid you hired. Are you going to stay and watch? I heard he's got some great songs to play for tonight." "For some of it," Lucifer answered. "Then back up I go." The bartender nodded and said, "Plus, we've got a woman in the middle of the dance floor that's wrapped everyone around her finger." Lucifer got confused and the bartender pointed to the middle of the dance floor.
Lucifer put the bottles down and walked down to the dance floor, walking through the massive amounts of people. He ignored the music that Carlos was playing and stared at the woman dancing in the middle, wearing a dress of white. He realized who it was, "Eve?" Eve stopped dancing and said, "Hey, Luce. Long time, no see." Lucifer stared at Eve, his ex from long ago, and wanted to talk to her more, but the crowd was big and the music was loud. He guided her to the elevator up to his penthouse.
Carlos was focused on his music playing that when he looked up, he saw Lucifer guiding the woman in white to the elevator. He felt a sense of dread fill him. As soon as he saw the elevator doors close, he stopped playing along with the stereo music. People in the club noticed and groaned at its loss. Carlos stood up and walked toward the elevator. Several people tried to stop him so that he could go back to playing music, so Carlos got irritated and shouted, "You all will let me pass!" The crowd parted the way for him and Carlos walked toward the elevator.
Lucifer poured a drink for Eve up in the penthouse and gave it to her, "You look great. Same as you did back then." "Thank you," Eve said as Lucifer handed her the drink. "So do you. Better even." Lucifer looked down at himself as he was just wearing a robe and sleep shorts. He closed his robe and said, "I must say, this is quite the surprise. You, here. Back here. On Earth. How?" "Found a way out of heaven," Eve answered. "I didn't think that was possible," Lucifer replied. "For humans." "What can I say?" Eve responded. "I've always been a bit of a rule breaker. But you know that." Lucifer smiled, "I do." "So I flew the coop," Eve revealed. "Next thing I knew, I was waking up in a dusty old tomb, so I caught a plane and came straight to LA."
"Right," Lucifer said. "And Adam? Where's that barrel of laughs?" "Still up there," Eve said. "Where everyone is always so happy." Lucifer noticed the sad look on her face when she said that, "But not you?" Eve nodded, "I always felt like something was missing. People always forget, I didn't choose Adam. I was created for him. Turns out an arranged existence kind of takes the spark out of things. We got along just fine, but I don't think he ever really loved me. The real me, you know." Lucifer understood what she was talking about, "It hurts, not being accepted for who you are. I would imagine." Eve sighed, "You know, I've been in heaven longer than any other human and, let me tell you. Paradise can get a little predictable." "Preaching to the choir," Lucifer agreed.
Ella looked at Lucifer and said, "So I started meeting every new soul that was coming through those Pearly Gates, just taking in all their incredible stories, you know, about everything that was going on down here. And then, I realized something huge, Luce. What I truly desire most can only be found down here." "And what is it you truly desire?" Lucifer asked. Eve laughed, "Excitement! You know? Thrills. Just some good, old fashioned fun. I'm due a lifetime or two of it." "So," Lucifer replied. "You're telling me you came all this way just to party?" Eve smiled, "And, you know, see my ex. I mean you are, after all, the only person I know down here." Lucifer got up and poured himself another drink, "So do you have anywhere to stay?" Eve sighed, "I haven't even thought about that yet." "Well, I can help you out," Lucifer revealed. "Really?" Eve stood up and walked to Lucifer. "Oh, my God. That would be so sweet of you. I wouldn't want to impose." Lucifer pulled out his phone and said, "I know Pierre at the Waldorf. He owes me a favor, so we'll get you a suite." "A hotel?" Eve asked, being slightly disappointed. "Yes," Lucifer said. "I'd offer you the guest suite, but it's currently occupied." "By whom?" Eve asked.
Suddenly the elevator doors opened and out walked Carlos. Lucifer turned around and smiled at the boy, Eve noticed and never saw that kind of smile from Lucifer before, and she felt jealousy rise in her. "Hey, Lucifer," Carlos said. "I'm sorry if I am interrupting anything, but I thought you were going to hear some of my playlist. I'm sorry about intruding, M'am." Lucifer chuckled and said, "Not at all. Just getting reacquainted with an old friend. Carlos, this is Eve. Eve, this is Carlos, my ward. He's staying with me here." Carlos walked up to Eve and held out his hand saying, "It's nice to meet you, Eve." Eve stared at Carlos, not sure what to make of the kid, but held her hand out and shook Carlos' hand. Carlos sensed that something was off about Eve, but chose not to say anything about it. Lucifer then said, "I was just setting Eve up at a hotel, so why don't you join us as I walk her to her cab and then I will hear your playlist in the club. Then we can come back up and continue training." "Training?" Eve asked. Lucifer was about to say something, but Carlos interrupted, "Sorry. That's between him and me. But I would be more than happy to accompany both of you." Eve got slightly disappointed that Carlos was coming in between her and Lucifer, and the Devil did not notice.
They got to the main floor and outside of the club. Carlos walked behind the pair as Lucifer said, "I'm sorry I'm not up for more tonight." "Yeah," Eve replied. "Where did my fun Luce go?" Carlos chuckled quietly as Lucifer said, "I'm still fun. Right, Carlos?" Carlos nodded in agreement. Eve sighed, "I get it. Can't expect the devil to suddenly make his life all about Eve." That last part rubbed Carlos the wrong way. "Is that her plan?" Carlos thought. "Is she here to get all of Lucifer's attention? Sure I want to spend time with him too and learn about him and from him, but am I like her? No. This is a whole new level. I don't trust her." Lucifer turned to Carlos and said, "Carlos wait here please." Carlos nodded and waited by the front entrance.
Lucifer guided her to a car and said, "This must be you." He opened the door for her and Eve said, "Thank you. For everything." Lucifer sighed, "Anything for an old friend." He went to the driver and said, "Right, get here home safely, alright…Hold on. You're not Rafael with five stars." The driver pull out a gun and shout, "The necklace. Now!" "I am cancelling this ride," Lucifer declared. "Tell me where the necklace is or I'll shoot your friend in the face," the driver said, pointing the gun at Eve. "There's no need to be rude," Lucifer commented and the driver pulled the trigger and shot Lucifer in the face. Eve shouted as she got out of the car, "Lucifer! Oh, my God!"
Carlos heard the gunshot and ran off to the curb where he saw the driver speeding away and Eve kneeling next to Lucifer. "Oh, my God!" Eve shouted. "Help!" Carlos ran out into the street and shouted, "Stop!" But the car was down the block and too far away for his command to work. "Dang it!" Carlos muttered. "I guess distance does matter. The door unlocking trick worked at the farmer's market, but I was only a few yards away, that guy is much farther than I can reach. Maybe I need to work on distance." He heard a gasp and turned around to see Lucifer sitting up, his hand on his jaw. Carlos ran over as Eve asked, "You're OK?" "Well," Lucifer said. "I may need another drink and a bottle of ibuprofen, but, yes, I'll survive." "I'm sorry, Lucifer," Carlos apologized. "He was too far gone for me to stop him. I need to work on distance." Eve was slightly confused by that statement, but she was more worried about Lucifer. The man himself looked at Eve and said, "But I love an explanation from you, Eve."
Carlos helped Lucifer up and they along with Eve went back up to the penthouse. Lucifer got dressed and Eve stood outside on the balcony. Carlos stood next to the door of the balcony, waiting for Lucifer, who walked over buttoning up his shirt. "You clean up well," Carlos commented. "Yes," Lucifer said. "Now, I need to talk to Eve." "I'll be right here," Carlos said. "I got a look at that car's license tag and I can look up who that car belongs to. Maybe find who did this."
Lucifer nodded and walked over to Eve and asked, "So, who the hell was that, mm? It's not every day I get shot in the face over some necklace." Eve answered, "I have no idea who that scary driver was. The only necklace I can think of is Pablo's." "And Pablo is?" Lucifer asked. "The guy who gave me a ride here on his jet," Eve answered. "On the way over, he kept showing off this really expensive necklace he made. Said it was for some Arab guy with a weird name. Byron? Buster? Bashir?" "Not Bashir Al-Fassad?" Lucifer asked. "Yes, that's it!" Eve confirmed. "You know him?" "Yes," Lucifer answered. "He calls himself thee concierge of crime. If Bashir thinks you've taken something from him, then he'll stop at nothing to get it back." "But I don't have his necklace," Eve said.
"But his nephew thinks so," Carlos said walking out onto the balcony. "I hacked into LA's DMV and found that the car is registered by George Al-Fassad, and only known relative in the area is his uncle, Bashir." "Well done, Carlos," Lucifer praised. "I didn't know you had such hacking skills." "I just told the computer what I wanted," Carlos replied. "No big deal." Eve was confused by that statement as Lucifer said, "Now, I suppose we should pay Bashir and his nephew a visit, sort this whole mess out, yes? You, Carlos, are staying here." "But," Carlos started to argue. "No," Lucifer replied. "You have no place near a crime lord. You are going to stay here and keep watch, however you do that." Carlos groaned, "Fine." Eve stared at Carlos trying to figure the kid out, but was happy that she would be spending one on one time with Lucifer without the kid.
Over at a ob/gyn's office, Linda was getting an ultrasound for her baby. "And how have we been feeling?" Her doctor asked. "Great actually," Linda admitted. "Tons of energy, sleeping well. Not to mention I have a truly supernatural support team." The doctor looked over and Amenadiel and Maze were sitting next to Linda, glaring at the doctor. The doctor tried to put ultrasound gel on Linda, but Maze grabbed thee doctor's hand. Linda shouted, "Maze! It's just ultrasound gel." Maze let go and said, "Continue." The doctor nervously continued and proceeded with the ultrasound, "OK, do you see that little protrusion right there? You're having a boy." "A boy?" Amenadiel asked. "Better luck next time," Maze commented. "Do you see a second protrusion anywhere? Maybe even a third?" The doctor said, "Typically, there's only one penis." "Nah," Amenadiel replied. "I was looking for the wings." The doctor looked concerned, but Linda defused the situation by laughing, "You know what? I guess, at some point, we all like to think of our babies as little angels." The doctor accepted the joke and looked back at the screen, as Linda pulled Amenadiel by his shirt and whispered, "Wait, wings?"
Dan had made his calls and he and Chloe went to Bashir's house to interview him. "See?" Chloe asked as they walked around the grounds. "Isn't this nice? Just a couple of sensible, law abiding detectives on a case. No hidden flasks, no random drug use. No crazy shenanigans." Dan chuckled, "You don't have to convince me that life's better without Lucifer."
They found Bashir lounging in his pool with George and Turkish Pete sitting nearby. "Detectives!" Bashir greeted. "Welcome. Can I get you a mojito? Pete, get the detectives a mojito." Chloe shook her head, "No, we're not here to drink, Mr. Al-Fassad. We're here about Pablo Silva." Bashir responded, "I'm afraid you're out of luck. We don't know any Pablo." "So you didn't go to Mr. Silva's hangers and strangle him to death?" Chloe asked. "Pablo's dead?" George asked. "He was alive when we left him." Bashir gave his nephew a look and Chloe said, "Oh, and when was that?" "Um, a long time ago," George lied. "So you see," Bashir replied. "It appears we cannot help you. So very sorry." Dan then said, "Well, if you can't help us, then maybe Turkish Pete here can." He grabbed the pistachios out of Pete's hand and said, "Maybe a DNA test on these shells will place you at the crime scene."
"Dan," Chloe said pulling Dan aside. "I wanted you here because you're not like Lucifer's OK? So can you please relax?" "Did you say Lucifer? Lucifer Morningstar?" Bashir asked as he exited the pool. Chloe nodded and Bashir said, "I love that guy. Are you that partner of his he's always gushing about?" "Uh, yea," Chloe answered. "Fabulous," Bashir chuckled. "So, where is he?" "He's home," Chloe lied. "Sick. Erm, as I recall, don't you owe him a favor?" "He told you about that, did he?" Bashir asked. "Yeah, he did," Chloe lied. "And you're in luck, because he said I could collect on your debt in his absence. You know, square you away for good." "Well," Bashir replied. "As Lucifer would say, what is it you desire?"
"The truth," Chloe answered. "Alright then," Bashir said. "Yes. I know Pablo. I, shall we say, connect him with the things that he desires. Exotic women, exotic drugs, etc. He racked up quite a tab. But we worked out a deal. Debt forgiven sin exchange for a one of a kind piece of jewelry." "The Desert Mirage," Chloe deduced. "Exactly," Bashir said. "But Pablo managed to lose it before we had a chance to get it back." "So you killed him," Dan guessed. Bashir laughed, "This guy. Why would I kill a man who owes me millions? No, no. We roughed him up a bit, told him he'd better find it before we did and then we left him in the hanger. Very much alive." Chloe asked, "Do you have an alibi for all that?" Turkish Pete answered, "We made a long stop at the grocery store on the way home. Refilled my pistachios." "I'm sure the store's security cameras can verify that," Bashir added. "Oh, there's something else I want to show you. To prove my claim on thee necklace. Pablo sent this on the way over."
He pulled out his phone and played a video of Pablo shouting, "Bashir! Hey, bud. Be there in no time. Your necklace is in safe hands. Hers." The video showed the necklace on one woman and Eve was sitting next to her. "Who are these women?" "Don't know," Bashir answered. "But fine them and you'll probably find my necklace." "And Pablo's killer," Chloe added. Bashir nodded, "Feels good to finally repay Lucifer. Good thing you two are partners, huh?"
What they didn't know was that Lucifer and Eve arrived at the house. "This is so exciting!" Eve squealed. "Oh, wow. You against a dangerous crime lord. What are you going to do to him? Ooh, are you going to toss him in the pool? No, are you going to break his arm? Or, you know, bash him in the balls? Ah, I always wanted to try that." Lucifer sighed, "No one will be bashing anyone in the balls. A simple conversation will suffice." Lucifer suddenly saw Chloe and Dan walking toward them and he took Eve and they both hid behind a wall. The two detectives walked by and Dan said, "I never thought I would say this, but Lucifer actually came in handy." "What are we doing?" Eve whispered. "Not that I'm complaining." Lucifer shushed her as Dan said, "There's no way you knew Bashir owed Lucifer a favor." The detectives left as Eve whispered, "Who are those two?" "The police," Lucifer whispered. "And I would prefer to avoid her…them…at any cost."
Lucifer and Eve walked out of their hiding spot and found Bashir laying out. "Lucifer!" Bashir said. "So good to see you. You just missed the lovely detective. She said you were home sick." Lucifer was irritated that Chloe lied about him, but covered it up and responded, "Yes, well, I'm up and about now. What, may I ask, was she here for?" Bashir answered, "Enquiring about the murder of a client of mine. RIP, Pablo Silva. Can I get you a mojito?" Lucifer looked over at Eve and said, "You didn't mention this man was murdered. Did you have anything to do with this?" "Of course not," Eve answered. "This is the first I'm hearing of this. Poor Pablo."
George then walked up and gave his uncle a mojito, "Uncle, I added more mint this time. What the…. I shot you in the face!" "Yes," Lucifer affirmed. "And I gave you a terrible review." "George!" Bashir groaned. "What have I told you? No more shooting without my permission." "But I was trying to get your necklace back," George argued. "And this lady was…" "Wait a second," Bashir interrupted. "You're that woman from the plane." "That's why we're here, Bashir," Lucifer said. "I don't have your necklace," Eve added. "So how about you leave her be and we'll consider your debt to me paid?" Lucifer asked. "A little too late, my friend," Bashir revealed. "Your partner collected your favor win exchange for some info."
"Clever detective," Lucifer muttered. "Partner?" Eve whispered, not liking that at all. "Why not have a new arrangement?" Lucifer suggested. "How about I just pay you for the necklace?" "Sorry, but no," Bashir said. "I don't want money. I want the Desert Mirage. It was supposed to be a gift for my wife. Mira, she will accept no substitutes. The things we do for our women, right?" Lucifer realized that he meant Eve, so Lucifer clarified, "What? Her? No, no. We're not together, together." "But we used to be," Eve retorted. "Maybe you've read about it in a little book called the Bible?" "Read about what?" Bashir was confused. "You know," Eve said. "The garden, the snake, the apple." "The metaphors were a bit off," Lucifer added. "That's true," Eve agreed. "The forbidden fruit was less of an apple and more like a banana. A very large banana." "It's true," Lucifer said. "You never forget your first," Eve said looking up at Lucifer. Bashir shook his head, "I have no idea what you two are talking about." "Right," Lucifer said. "No, of course. Er, look, why don't wee just strike a new deal? You and your goons agree to leave this young lady alone, unharmed, whilst I attempt to retrieve your necklace?" "Deal," Bashir agreed. "Less work for me anyway." "Excellent," Lucifer said. "Once it's back in your hands, we'll call it even and everyone can go their separate ways."
Meanwhile, Linda and Amenadiel returned to Linda's house after the appointment and Amenadiel said, "Can you believe it? A son. There's so many things I can't wait to teach him. I mean, how to fight, obviously. How to fly. My very own mini Amenadiel. No, no, wait, wait. A-mini-diel. Baby warrior angel. Ha!" He looked to Linda, who was staring at the ceiling fan and called out to her, but Linda responded, "Nope, can't do it." "Do what?" Amenadiel asked. Linda shook her head, "My house is not prepared for a flying baby. Other parents put up baby gates and cover up power outlets. What are we supposed to do? Baby proof the ceiling?" "You know, that's a good idea," Amenadiel commented. Linda sighed, "Amenadiel, how are we supposed to do this? How are we supposed to keep an angel baby safe?" "I don't know," Amenadiel answered honestly. "I've never seen one before. No one has." "You're joking," Linda replied. Amenadiel then explained, "You see, angels, we didn't grow up. We just appeared fully formed. That's how Mom and Dad created us." Linda then said, "So what you're telling me is that what's happening to me, what's growing inside my body is a first in all of human history?" "All of angel history, too," Amenadiel added. "Isn't this exciting?" "No!" Linda shouted. "No, it's not exciting, Amenadiel. It's terrifying." "Linda, it's going to be OK," Amenadiel reassured her. "I'll come over anytime that you need help." Linda sighed, "I appreciate that, but how can you say everything's going to be fine when none of us know what to expect?" Amenadiel had no answer to that.
Carlos was sitting in Lucifer's penthouse waiting for him and Eve to return. He did watch them through the mirror and knew what happened. "Now Dad has a deal with a mob boss," Carlos thought to himself. "That's funny." He has cleaned some of the penthouse for Lucifer, his servitude to his mother as a child kicking in. After a while, he was playing a ballad on Lucifer's piano and singing softly to it,
I have often dreamed
Of a far off place
Where a son's welcome
Would be waiting for me
Where the crowds would cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I meant to be
I will find my way
I can go the distance
I'll be there someday
If I can be strong
I know every mile
Would be worth my while
When I go the distance
I'll be right where I belong
The elevators doors opened as Carlos was playing the last few lines. Eve was giggling along with what Lucifer was saying. But she saw the man stop and listen to Carlos' music playing. Lucifer held that small smile on his face, the one she saw last night when Carlos came up from Lux. And it was similar to the one that she's seen on Adam, when looking at their children. Eve didn't full understand what Lucifer's relationship was with this boy, but she was wary of it.
Lucifer cleared his throat and Carlos stopped playing immediately. "So," Lucifer said walking up to Carlos. "You decided to wait here instead of elsewhere?" Carlos nodded and said, "You told me to wait here. I decided to listen for once. I did clean this place up a little bit while you were gone though." Lucifer then said, "You did not have to do that. You are not my maid." Carlos looked down and muttered, "I know. Just instinct I guess." Lucifer felt there was more to that sentence that Carlos was hiding, but didn't press the boy as he felt it had something to do with his past with his mother.
He turned to Eve, who was helping herself to cleaning some of Lucifer's stuff, and asked, "So do you have any idea where it could be?" Eve looked up and said, "You seem extremely motivated to find this necklace. Does this have anything to do with your partner?" "No," Lucifer answered, even though Carlos knew that was a lie. His dad may be the Devil, but even he didn't have a good poker face when it came to Chloe. "And former partner, just to be clear." "Doubt that," Carlos muttered under his breath. Lucifer heard it and glared at Carlos while Eve walked up to him and said, "You know, you really don't have to do this for me." "Nonsense," Lucifer retorted. "I'd never hand you out to dry. Like I didn't hang Carlos here out to dry, right Carlos?" Carlos chuckled, "Sure. But to my understanding, it's because we made a deal, remember?" Lucifer glared at Carlos but said to Eve, "Still, I don't leave people like you out to dry, not with dangerous men like Bashir after you. So, necklace, was there anyone else on Pablo's jet? Anyone who could have stolen it?"
"There was actually," Eve answered. "A real party girl named Odessa something." "What do you know about her?" Lucifer asked. "Not much," Eve answered. "She seemed to really enjoy giggling and, uh, flirting and, come to think of it, trying on expensive jewelry. She said she had this friend named Dalton. She kept mentioning spending time at his place." "Dalton's Place?" Lucifer asked. "That's not her friend. That's a bar. It's a good place to start." Carlos stood up and said, "I'm going with you." Lucifer turned and tried to argue, but Carlos said, "No. There are no mob bosses in bars and I think you may need backup. Especially if you might get into something you can't get out of easily. So, take me with you." Lucifer felt his body wanting to obey, but unlike last time where he was able to fight it off, he couldn't and said, "Alright, you can come with." Carlos grinned as Eve looked at Carlos, confused as to how this kid could command Lucifer like that. Lucifer shook his head and walked over to Carlos and whispered, "It seems your powers does have some effect on me after all. Perhaps you are getting better at control and your power is growing." "Perhaps," Carlos whispered back. Lucifer leaned back and shouted, "Come on." He, Carlos, and Eve left Lux to head to the bar.
When they got there, Eve spotted Odessa talking with a guy and saw her eyeing the man's ring as the man went off to get some drinks. Lucifer walked up to the girl and asked, "Looking to add to your collection?" Odessa smiled and said, "Howdy, stranger." She looked over and saw Carlos and asked, "Are you old enough to even be in here?" Carlos chuckled, "You don't know that. Maybe I look young for my age." She huffed and saw Eve and said, "Oh, hey, it's you. What are you doing here?" Eve smiled, "We are here for the necklace." "So hand it over and we'll let you get back to conning this poor schmuck," Lucifer said. "Necklace? What necklace?" Odessa lied. "The one you're hiding in your purse," Eve said trying to grab it. But Odessa stood up and signaled for a guy she hired as security. The man walked up as Carlos used the Ring of Envy to not be noticed and slipped to the side towards Odessa as Lucifer said, "I see. You've paid off security to help assist with your little scam. Quite the entrepreneur."
Eve leaned over and said, "Tell me we're about to have my first bar fight. I could get things started with the ball bashing." Lucifer went to look at her, and noticed that Carlos wasn't standing next to her. He looked around and felt something off near Odessa and saw Carlos shimmering in and out of existence. Carlos noticed that Lucifer could see him somewhat and held up a finger to his mouth. Lucifer stared at Carlos and noticed a green glow under Carlos' shirt, but nodded to Carlos, understanding what Carlos was trying to do. He pulled Eve's arm back and said, "Again, not necessary." The man pulled out a taser and Lucifer said, "Or maybe it is." Lucifer walked up to the man as Odessa slunk away and his red eyes glowed and the man stepped backwards in fright.
Odessa tried to walk towards the back entrance, but she felt someone grab her arm and drag her to the bathroom. The door closed behind her and Carlos then appeared before her, the illusion he used to make himself unnoticed gone. Odessa shouted, "What the…What are you doing with me? What do you want?" Carlos chuckled as his eyes glowed red, "You are going to tell me everything I need to know, Odessa. Starting with that necklace."
Out in the bar, another man grabbed Eve and started to drag her away. She clawed her way out of his arms as she fell to the floor. Lucifer walked over and used his strength to shove the man away. He offered his hand to Eve, "Milady." He helped her off the floor. He heard thee taser guy walk forward and Lucifer started a huge bar fight where all the patrons joined in. Eve tried to help at one point by slamming a beer bottle on a man's head, but a female waitress came over to help her. Lucifer took down a lot of guys and Eve stood there in awe, loving the way Lucifer was looking throughout the fight.
Meanwhile, Odessa was telling Carlos everything he wanted to know, "I was hired by this guy, an independent broker, to get onto Pablo's plane and steal the necklace. I gave it back to the person who hired me and the necklace is going to be sold at a black auction tomorrow night downtown." "And who is this guy who hired you?" Carlos asked. Odessa answered, "No idea." Carlos hummed, "Good to know. And judging from the sounds I am hearing from out there, your security is doomed." Odessa's eyes widened in shock. Carlos also heard police sirens and said, "And I think your reckoning is coming. Now, you are going to stay here and let the police find you." Odessa tried to move, but couldn't as her body obeyed Carlos' command. Carlos smiled and said, "It was nice talking to you." He exited the bathroom and saw Lucifer fighting off the patrons and saw Eve standing near the bar looking aroused. "Gross," Carlos thought. He saw the police coming in and activated the Ring of Envy to hid himself.
"Lucifer!" Chloe's voice rang through the bar as a man rammed a broken pool stick into Lucifer's shoulder. Lucifer groaned, "Hello Detective. Didn't know you were here." He turned around as Chloe walked up to him and said, "I got a call about a bar fight. It happens to be connected to my latest case. Want to tell me why you're here?" Lucifer saw a glimmer out of the corner of his eye and saw Carlos standing near the back entrance, signaling him to follow. Lucifer pulled the pool stick out of his shoulder and said, "Not particularly. I doubt you'd be able to accept it." He brushed past Chloe and grabbed Eve and walked out of the bar. Chloe saw them leave and thought she saw Carlos with them, but couldn't tell. She saw Dan walk out of the bathroom as Dan said, "Hey, Chloe. Guess who I found?" Chloe nodded as she looked over at where Lucifer left, wondering who that woman was with Lucifer and thought if she did indeed see Carlos.
Lucifer walked through a back alley, pulling a handkerchief out of his jacket pocket. Eve was running to catch up with him while Carlos walked behind them. Eve ran up and stopped Lucifer saying, "Lucifer! Are you OK?" "I will be," Lucifer answered. "No," Eve replied. "I mean, I saw what happened back there with the detective. You weren't just work partners, were you?" "It doesn't matter," Lucifer said. "It's over." Lucifer tried to walk around Eve, but Eve stopped him, "Well, how come that pool stick hurt you, but the bullet to the head didn't?" Lucifer sighed, "Look, I will explain later. But for now, we just need to get out of here. Come up with a new plan to find that bloody necklace."
"I can help with that," Carlos said making Lucifer turn around. Lucifer smiled, "Excellent. Now, Eve, when we get back to Lux, why don't you rest up in the penthouse for a little bit? I will join you later after I discuss some things with Carlos." "Why can't I join?" Eve asked. Before Lucifer could say anything, Carlos answered, "Because I don't trust you. Don't take it personally, but I don't trust people I don't know. He and I have a deal that right now that is none of your business until I feel you have a right to know. He will talk to you later after we have our discussion about what the next step is." Lucifer looked between Carlos and Eve and said, "I'm sorry to say that Carlos has a point. He has trust issues and doesn't want to reveal anything to people he doesn't trust. I will explain later. Now, let's go."
Chloe and Dan took Odessa, real name Sandy Bumford, back to LAPD to be interrogated. She sat in handcuffs in the interview room and Chloe and Dan entered. Chloe got right to it, "Lucifer Morningstar. How do you know him and how is he involved win Pablo's murder?" "The sexy British guy in the suit?" Sandy asked. "Never seen him before in my life." Dan sighed, "Let's just talk about how you're involved with Pablo's murder, OK?" Sandy responded, "I had nothing to do with that. I'm a grifter, not a murderer. I worked my way onto Pablo's jet to steal the necklace. When I left, Pablo was alive." "Where's the necklace now?" Dan asked. "I gave it to the person who hired me to steal it," Sandy revealed. "An independent broker." "Who?" Chloe asked. "No idea," Sandy answered. "Seriously, I've already said all of this." Dan tilted his head and asked, "You told all of this to someone? Who?" "That kid," Sandy revealed. "The one who came with the sexy British man. He caught me before I could escape from the bar and somehow made me talk. It was weird, like I couldn't refuse him. Then he ordered me to stay in the bathroom until you guys showed up." Dan and Chloe looked at each other.
Sandy sighed, "Look, if you agree to give me immunity for liberating that necklace, I can tell you where to find him. And trust me, you two aren't anywhere near as persuasive as that kid was." Dan replied, "It's fine with me." Sandy smiled, "Alright then. Downtown tomorrow night. There's a black market jewelry auction, exclusively for the rich and shady. That's where they're planning on reselling the necklace. Now that it's Pablo's last work, I bet the necklace will go for twice as. much." Chloe deduced, "The broker realized he could double his payday if he killed Pablo." "Money," Dan added. "It's always a solid motive for murder." "Right," Chloe replied. "Find the broker, find the killer."
Chloe returned home and found Maze coming down the stairs, "Maze, hi." Maze nodded her hello and walked past Chloe, who asked, "Have we been avoiding each other?" "Yeah," Maze answered. "I guess we have been. I've just been trying to give you, you know, space, as Linda suggested. Trying to be understanding of the fact that you are a backstabbing liar who's been secretly plotting against Lucifer and keeping me away from Trixie." Chloe sighed, "You know what, you're right. But, Maze, for a second can you at least try to understand what I've been going through? To be the only human that knows." "Who knows what?" Maze asked. Chloe answered, "That heaven and hell truly exist." Maze hummed, "I get it. You're weak. You can't handle this. Maybe I should just move out. And by the way, you're not the only human who knows. Linda handled it much better than you." Maze walked out of the apartment for the last time, leaving Chloe standing there in silence.
Lucifer, Eve, and Carlos made it back to Lux and Eve went up to the penthouse while Lucifer and Carlos went to the guest level. Lucifer turned to Carlos and said, "I didn't like having to put Eve on the spot like that for you." "I understand," Carlos said. "But you know my issues with trust, like you eloquently told her, and she doesn't know what I can do. And I want to keep that on the down low for right now. So I will at least thank you for sticking up for me." Lucifer nodded and rolled his hurt shoulder a bit. "Are you OK?" Carlos asked, concern over his face. "I'll be fine," Lucifer answered. "Now, I assume that you stopped Odessa from leaving. What did you get out of her?" Carlos sat in a chair and answered, "She told me that she stole the necklace for an independent broker. The necklace is going to be at a black auction tomorrow night downtown. Where exactly she didn't say. And she didn't know who hired her." Lucifer thought for a moment and said, "I can go through my connections and find out where it is. Good work Carlos. But how did you get by everyone unnoticed? When I saw you, it looked like you were blinking in and out of existence." Carlos smiled and said, "Trade secret. Maybe soon I'll tell you." Lucifer chuckled at that.
Carlos then asked, "Can we possibly work on my training tonight? It's been a while. I've given you space to work through…whatever you're working through after what happened. And not being able to stop Bashir's nephew from driving away has been bothering me. I've never been able to control anything from that far. Only a few feet, like unlocking the barn door at the farmer's market for you and Chloe." Lucifer saw the sad look on Carlos' face and sighed, "OK. Besides, I need a break from women right now. We can work on how your powers work from a distance and go from there." Carlos smiled, glad that his dad wanted to help him. He knew that he would have to explain everything soon, but he still wanted to get to know Lucifer first.
So the pair worked on distance. Lucifer had Carlos try calling things to him from several distances and control things from several distances. It took a while, but Carlos was able to do a few yards pretty well. Lucifer told Carlos to work on it and left to go back upstairs to the penthouse to get some sleep. Eve was already asleep at this point. Carlos kept practicing for a while when his phone binged and he saw that Jane was online. He opened up the chat:
Carlos: Hey Jane.
Jane: Carlos. How have you been? What's been going on?
Carlos: I've been good. Just got done with a training session. Working on controlling from a distance. It seems my powers might be slowly increasing.
Jane: That's good to hear. Mom has been working with me on fairy magic and I've been improving.
Carlos: That's great.
Jane: So your dad has been helping you?
Carlos: Yea. He was in a bit of a rut for a while after he found out that Chloe, the woman he likes, was about to betray him, even though she changed her mind after finding out she was being manipulated into it, and Lucifer took it personally. Now there's this new woman, Eve, that's just appeared and Lucifer is helping her with something. They used to be an item way back in the day apparently.
Jane: Sounds complicated.
Carlos: It is. Something feels off about Eve, and I don't trust her. You know me with trust issues. But I don't know if I will ever trust her. Part of me thinks that she's up to something.
Jane: Just be careful. I know you are trying to find out who you are and get to know your dad, but I want you to be safe.
Carlos: Don't worry. I can protect myself.
Jane: Great. Now, have you done any homework that I sent you from school?
Carlos: A little bit. Maybe I should catch up a bit. Online learning is different, OK?
Jane: LOL
The next morning, Chloe went over to Linda's house to talk to her, "You've known this whole time?" Linda had made coffee and gave it to Chloe saying, "Well, not thee whole time, but for quite a while, yes." Chloe sighed, "I just wish I'd have known that you knew. I don't know how to deal with this, Linda. When I found out what Lucifer was, who he truly was, I ran away for a month." "An understandable reaction in this situation," Linda replied. Chloe then asked, "Have you seen his face when it…" Linda nodded, "It was quite alarming." "And Maze," Chloe continued. "How is it being friends with her, knowing what she is?" "Well," Linda answered. "It wasn't easy. None of it is. The devil, a demon, dating an angel, having his baby." Chloe heard that and asked, "Wait, what? You're pregnant?" "Yea," Linda said. "With an angel baby."
She then stood up and continued, "Truth be told I'm freaking out Chloe. I mean, it's all just hitting me, all at once, you know, just how dangerous my friends are, and how dangerous this baby inside me might be. I mean there's a good chance it could come out with wings. Wings! Is that even safe for a human to deliver? Should I have a C-section? Will insurance cover any of this? I mean, who knows? Who knows, Chloe?" Linda started to laugh and Chloe said, "OK. Linda? Linda. If anyone can handle this, it's you. You're different than me. You're stronger. You could have run, but you didn't. Why didn't you?" Linda sighed, "I don't know. I guess with all the bad comes a lot of good. I got a best friend out of this. And the most fascinating patient in the world. And this baby. Who saw that coming? I guess, as freaked out as I am, I'm really looking forward to being a mom. And meeting my son. Wings and all. So how about Lucifer?" Chloe sighed, "It's complicated." Linda smiled, "I mean, I guess what it really all comes down to is one simple question. Do you want him in your life or not?"
Over at Lux, Lucifer was up at the penthouse with Eve and Carlos, "So, the necklace will be at a black auction tonight. I got details from one of my connections. But there's one thing that is still bugging me." "What?" Carlos asked. "Does it have to deal with that detective?" Eve asked. Lucifer sighed, "Yes. I don't know if Odessa spilled the beans to her or not. Maybe I could stop by and figure it out. No, I can't." "I could go," Carlos offered. "I could ask Ella. She's always been nice." Lucifer smiled, "Good thinking. But the Detective will need to be distracted." Eve stood up and said, "I could help."
Eve then strode through LAPD and went up to Chloe's desk and said, "Hello. I think I might be able to help you with your case." Chloe nodded and escorted her to the interview room. Carlos then entered with Lucifer and Lucifer was holding a coffee with whipped cream in one and and another cup in the other and Carlos whispered, "What's with the coffees?" "Well," Lucifer answered. "This happens to be Ella's favorite. While I distract her, you can persuade her into revealing what the Detective knows. And this coffee with whiskey is for me." Carlos nodded as the pair went off to Ella's lab.
Chloe started the interview, "So you're the other woman from Pablo's private jet? We had a hard time IDing you." "Oh," Eve replied. "I'm not from around here." Chloe continued, "So let's start with, do you know who killed Pablo?" Eve answered, "You know, I heard someone mention the name Bashir Al-Fassad. Does that help?" "Not so much," Chloe revealed.
Over at Ella's lab, Lucifer walked in with Carlos and Ella squealed, "Lucifer! I missed you buddy. And Carlos. Nice to see you." "Hey, Ella," Carlos said while Lucifer said, "I brought you some coffee." Ella said, "Thanks. It's my fave." Lucifer chuckled, "Good to hear. Now, I have something to ask you." Ella took a sip and said, "Sure. What's up?" Carlos then asked, "Tell us if Chloe and/or the police have anything to do with a black auction tonight."
Chloe continued the interview, "Do you know of anyone who would want to hurt Pablo?" "No," Eve revealed. "I really only just met him at the airport bar, right before he invited me and that other girl onto his jet, sorry. You know, you seem really smart and very kind. I can see how someone would be drawn to you." "Thank you," Chloe said, a little taken aback. "You also seem a little sad," Eve commented. "Excuse me?" Chloe asked startled. "Don't worry," Eve said. "There's someone out there for everyone." Chloe sighed, "OK. Yeah, I think we're done here." Chloe walked out of the interview room and Eve walked out and met up with Lucifer and Carlos, the two men smiling, revealing that they got what they wanted.
Chloe went into Ella's lab and said, "I just had the weirdest interview." Ella tensed up, "No. Nothing. I didn't do anything." "I'm sorry, what?" Chloe asked. "Never mind," Ella said. Chloe noticed two mugs on the table and asked, "Why do you have two mugs?" Ella lied, "You know me. Gotta Java." Chloe picked one up and smelled it, "This smells like whiskey." "Chloe, that's not mine," Ella argued. "I would never ever drink on the job." "I know," Chloe replied. "That's Lucifer's isn't it?" Ella sighed, "I'm so sorry. Chloe, he brought men a caramel triple frappe with extra whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. He and Carlos…" "Ella, it's fine," Chloe argued. But then asked, "Wait. Carlos was with him? Please don't tell me he asked you about the auction tonight?" Ella gulped, trying to hide the fact that she did.
Later that night, Lucifer and Eve were at the black auction, with Lucifer wearing a tuxedo and Eve wearing an evening gown. Carlos was hiding somewhere else in the building in a dark unused room with his laptop. Lucifer was originally hesitant on Carlos helping him, but Carlos insisted that he could help them, by being the man in his ear, literally. Carlos had pulled out two earpieces and gave them to Lucifer saying, "I will communicate with you through this. I can hack into the cameras at the auction with my computer." Lucifer reluctantly agreed.
Lucifer looked around and said, "We need to grab the necklace and disappear before the Detective arrives. Carlos, keep an eye out for me, will you?" "Roger that," Carlos said from his hiding spot. He had his laptop out with the camera feed on it and he had the mirror next to it keeping an eye on Lucifer's every move. Eve looked around the room as the auction was going on and saw the necklace in a case, "There it is." "Right," Lucifer said. "You distract the guard. I'll smash the glass, Carlos will turn off the alarm system and give us an exit strategy, then we'll make a break for it." "Sounds risky," Eve commented. "Oh please," Carlos commented on Lucifer's earpiece. "I've seen bigger security measures than this. Try breaking into a museum to steal something surrounded by a force field." Lucifer asked, "What?" "Never mind," Carlos answered back.
Lucifer started to move forward, but Carlos said, "Wait. It's being taken out of its case." "Bugger," Lucifer replied. "Well, there goes our plan." "There is another option," Carlos reported. "He's taking it backstage." "Probably to put on one of the models," Eve suggested. "I think the two of you are right," Lucifer said. "Eve, wait here. I've got this." He walked away and Carlos said, "Eve, you should probably follow him. Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." Eve felt her body obey Carlos' command, and she was surprised by that.
Lucifer found the model wearing the necklace and said, "Hello there, I'm Lucifer. Lucifer Morning…" "Yes," the model interrupted. "Yes to what?" Lucifer asked. The model turned around and said, "Anything." Lucifer chuckled, "Still got it." He got the necklace from her and walked out where Eve was waiting. "Eve! I thought I told you to wait where I left you." "That was my doing," Carlos said. "She's just making sure you're OK." "How did it go?" Eve asked. Lucifer showed her and Eve cheered, "Oh! You got it! You're incredible." "Please, I'm the devil," Lucifer retorted. He walked over and picked up two glasses with Carlos saying, "Really? You two need to get out now." "Just a victory drink," Lucifer said. "Cheers, Eve." They drink their glasses and Lucifer said, "Let's get out of here." "Ah, Lucifer," Carlos warned but it was too late.
Chloe, dressed as a waiter, walked over and Lucifer said, "Detective. Afraid you're a bit late. You've missed all the fun." "I am not here for fun," Chloe retorted. "I am here to solve a murder." "Hello again, Detective," Eve greeted. "Please don't call me that," Chloe begged. "Care to explain how you two know each other?" "Yes," Lucifer answered. "She's my date and we're leaving." Chloe stopped him, "I need that necklace to flush out Pablo's killer." "And what makes you think I care?" Lucifer asked. Chloe scoffed, "Well, despite our issues, I think you still do. So if you have it, I could really use your help." "Lucifer," Carlos said in Lucifer's ear. "You should help. Be the better man." Lucifer sighed, "If we help you, you'll let us leave with the necklace." "You know I can't promise you that," Chloe said. "Oh, can't you?" Lucifer asked. Eve looked at him and said, "Come on, Luce. Where else do we have to be? Carlos is right. You should help. It'll be fun." Lucifer sighed, "Oh, bloody hell." Chloe then asked, "Wait, is Carlos here?" Carlos giggled, "Oh she has no idea."
They got the plan set up as Lucifer took a seat at the end of the runway where the models were showing off the necklace and Chloe was standing nearby. The auctioneer announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, item number 45005. Pablo Silva's Desert Mirage. Starting bid, one million." The curtains opened to reveal Eve wearing the necklace as she walked down the aisle. Chloe eyed Lucifer and Lucifer raised his paddle, telling thee auctioneer that he has bid one million. "Can I get one five?" the auctioneer asked. A lady raised her paddle, "One five. How about two?" Lucifer raised his paddle again. "Two five?" The lady raised her paddle again. "Three?" Lucifer bid again. "Three five?" The lady bid again. "Four?" "Just go for it!" Carlos hissed in the earpiece." Lucifer stood up, "For crying out loud. 10 million!" The auctioneer smiled, "Going once. Going twice. Sold for 10 million to thee dapper gentlemen in the back." Lucifer laughed, "Oh, stop it." Eve jumped up and down with joy.
Lucifer walked off and met Chloe and took a champagne glass from her, "Can't celebrate without my bubbles." A security guard led the pair to the broker and Lucifer was shocked to see Turkish Pete, "Why am I going to all this trouble trying to find your boss's necklace when you've had it all along?" Pete sighed, "I love working for Mr. Al-Fassad, but the Desert Mirage is worth millions, he'll just give it to his wife." Chloe asked, "So you hired Odessa to steal it from Pablo while you and Bashir went to beat him up?" "You could sell it here," Pete countered. "You fool," Lucifer replied. "Not only do you not get the money, but now you're going to jail for Pablo's murder." "Actually, he's not," Chloe revealed. "He's not?" Lucifer asked. "No," Chloe said. "Pete's alibi checks out. The grocery store footage shows him there during the time of Pablo's death. He's not the killer." "Of course not," Pete replied. "I would never kill Pablo. He was our cash cow. Always in debt. Always getting bailed out." "Bailed out by who?" Chloe asked. "His business partner, Toby," Pete revealed. "Toby said he had no idea that Pablo was into any trouble," Chloe replied. "Oh, well, imagine that," Lucifer said. "You've been lied to."
Chloe then handcuffed Pete and called Dan, "Dan, I got the seller, but he's not the killer. Have the team get ready to take this place down anyhow." Lucifer then asked, "You know who the killer is though, don't you? Is it this Toby fellow?" "I thought you didn't care," Chloe argued. "I don't," Lucifer retorted. "Just checking your logic, since you've probably made a lot of mistakes without me." Chloe hummed, "Well, contrary to what you think, I don't need your help."
Carlos was checking the feed and saw Toby approach Eve backstage with a gun. He shut the laptop up, threw it in his backpack, grabbed the mirror and shouted, "Mirror, mirror, show me Eve!" The mirror showed Eve at gunpoint and Carlos ran out of the room shouting into his radio to Lucifer, "Lucifer! Eve's in trouble. That Toby guy is holding her hostage. With a gun."
Lucifer got wide eyed as Chloe asked, "What's wrong?" They heard Eve shout, "Lucifer, help!" The pair ran over to where Eve was.
Eve had to hand the necklace over to Toby. Chloe came around the corner with her gun and said, "Drop the weapon." Lucifer was behind her, "Toby, let her go." Toby had put the necklace in his jacket and grabbed Eve and held her at gunpoint, "Back off! Back off! I am walking out of here with this necklace. It belongs to me." "Toby," Chloe said. "I know everything and I understand." "You understand?" Toby asked. "What do you understand? That I spent our entire budget on this necklace? That I'm ruined without it? That I only snuck in here to get what's mine?" "No," Chloe replied. "I understand you. The reasonable one. The one always taking care of their partner. Cleaning up his messes." Toby chuckled, "Everybody loves Pablo. The fun one. But if they knew who he really was, he was a train wreck. He wasted all our money on hookers and blow." "That doesn't sound like such a bad guy to me," Lucifer reassured. Toby continued, "And after that voice mail, I rushed down there, found him beaten up, the Mirage gone. I just, I got so angry." "Drop the gun and let her go," Chloe ordered. Toby shook his head.
Carlos ran into the main area and saw Toby through the curtain several yards away and shouted, "Drop your gun!" Toby heard the command and dropped his gun. Eve then did the thing she always wanted to do and hit him in the balls. Carlos ran as fast as he could threw the curtains and grabbed Toby's hand and flipped him around to the ground. Chloe was shocked to see Carlos but said, "Turn over. Hands behind your back." Carlos leaned forward and whispered, "Do what she says." Toby obeyed just as Dan ran in and handcuffed Toby, surprised to see Carlos standing next to him. Lucifer walked over to Eve and asked, "Are you OK?" "Yes," Eve said. "Did you see that. What I did?" Lucifer nodded then said to Carlos, "Thank you. Great work at the distance thing." Carlos nodded as Lucifer turned to Chloe and Dan and asked, "Daniel, I'd like that necklace, thank you very much." "What?" Dan asked. "Do you really think we would just hand you stolen evidence?" Dan and a couple of officers got Toby up and walked out.
Carlos stepped back and turned his back to pull out his mirror as Lucifer said, "Detective. We need that necklace." Carlos whispered into the mirror to show him who had the necklace as Chloe said, "Ah, I'm sorry, Lucifer. I wish I could help you." Carlos got his answer and before Lucifer could charge up at Chloe, Carlos ran up to Lucifer and said, "Stop. We're done here." Lucifer found himself obeying Carlos' command as he turned to Eve and said, "Come on." He and Eve walked out as Chloe stood there in silence. Carlos walked up to her and said, "I guess you don't know how to keep a promise, huh?" He walked away and held up the mirror and whispered, "Lucifer's going to be surprised later."
Over at Linda's house, she and Amenadiel had put bubble wrap over everything, including the fan. "See?" Amenadiel said. "We've got this." Linda sighed, "We do, don't we? Bring it, angel baby." She and Amenadiel chuckled at that.
They heard the door open and close and they looked up to see Maze standing there with a bag in her hand. "This some weird fetish I don't know about?" Maze asked. Linda said, "Maze, hi. What are you doing here?" Maze walked over and said, "Well, I decided to end Chloe's misery. I'm moving out. Going somewhere where I'm wanted. Somewhere like here." Linda looked at Amenadiel, then back at Maze and said, "Oh. Wow." "You know," Amenadiel said, "Linda's not really prepared for a house guest." Maze glared at Amenadiel, "This is happening, OK? Deal with it. Auntie Maze is here to help with the baby, whether you like it or not." "Auntie Maze," Linda sighed. "I love it. We could use all the help we can get." "Good," Maze smirked. "It's settled. Now, where do I put my knives?"
Over at LAPD, Ella walked over to Chloe's desk while Chloe was working and said, "So, if I can just get you to sign my final paperwork of the night." Chloe signed it without talking. "The silent treatment," Ella commented. "I get it. I shouldn't have told Lucifer that stuff. Even though Carlos was with him. It was really unprofessional and I'm so sorry. That kid just…I don't know. He's kind and sweet and whatever he wants me to do, I just do it. Just like Lucifer."
Chloe sighed, "Ella, I'm not mad at you. I'm just…I've just been thinking about things." "Between you and Lucifer?" Ella guessed. "Yeah," Chloe sighed. "I miss him. I mean, he pisses me off all the time. And there are so many things about him that I find hard to accept, but i just have to believe I can find a way. Because I'd rather have him in my life than not." "Well, then," Ella replied. "I think you know what you need to do." Chloe smiled and stood up and walked out of LAPD, Ella staying behind smiling.
Over at Lux, Lucifer, Eve, and Carlos walked in and Carlos whispered to Lucifer, "Can we have training later? I want to discuss what happened tonight." Lucifer nodded and said, "Of course. Why don't you run up to the guest level and return your backpack? I'm getting a drink down here and want to finish things up with Eve. And I am not happy with you controlling me like that. As to how you could with me, being who I am, I would love to discuss with you at some point." Carlos nodded then whispered, "Here's why I said to leave. Eve is hiding something from you. In her purse." Before Lucifer could elaborate, Carlos ran to the elevator. Eve stood at the entrance as she watched Carlos interact with Lucifer. She didn't understand the bond the two shared and was slightly jealous of it.
She walked over to Lucifer, who threw his jacket on a chair and sat down on the stairs and said, "I don't believe this. We were cheated out of that necklace. Still you are safe thanks to Carlos." Eve sighed, not wanting Carlos to enter the conversation, and said, "Well, on the bright side, now we can break into the precinct and steal it right back. Doesn't that sound like fun?" "Yes, it does, actually," Lucifer commented. "But not tonight. I promised Carlos some time to help him and discuss some things."
Eve sighed, then decided to steer the conversation in a different direction, "I had a really nice time with you tonight." Lucifer nodded, "As did I." Eve smiled, "Setback aside, I think that we should celebrate. I'll get some champagne." Eve got up and dropped her purse and Lucifer remembered Carlos' warning. He opened it and saw the Desert Mirage inside of it. "What's this?" Lucifer asked. Eve turned around and said, "I can explain that." "So Carlos was right," Lucifer said, standing up. "You were hiding something from me. How long have you had this?" Eve, feeling a little anger rise to the fact that Carlos sold her out, explained, "It dropped out of Toby's pocket when Carlos flipped him and I just grabbed it. I don't know how he saw me take it." "And you weren't going to tell me?" Lucifer asked. "Of course I was," Eve replied. "I just, maybe not right away." "Why?" Lucifer asked. "Because," Eve answered. "You made it very clear that once we found the necklace, we would go our separate ways and I didn't want the fun to end."
"What else are you hiding from me?" Lucifer asked. "Tell me, or else I'll have Carlos ask you himself. He has a talent for getting the truth out of others." "Nothing," Eve said. "You're lying," Lucifer replied. "Maybe I should get Carlos right away." Eve stopped him, "OK, everything I told you is true. Except for maybe one little, teeny, tiny part. I did come back to Earth for the fun and the excitement. But, more specifically, I came back for you. To be with you. You know? Like old times." Lucifer was in shock, "That was thousands of years ago." "Yes," Eve replied. "But it was also the best time of my life. Lucifer, I never felt more like myself than when I was with you."
"Eve," Lucifer sighed. "I'm sorry, if you've come all this way for me, then you've made a mistake." Lucifer walked toward the entrance as Eve asked, "Why? It's because of her, isn't it? Because of that boy too?" "No," Lucifer said. "I told you about the Detective, that's over. And Carlos has nothing to do with this either." "No," Eve said walking over to him. "I mean your insecurity." Lucifer glared at Eve, "I'm not insecure." Eve chuckled, "Now who's lying? I'm not blind. I know what rejection looks like. What it feels like. The detective doesn't accept you for who you are, does she? Does Carlos?" "Carlos does," Lucifer argued. "He has never rejected me." "But the Detective?" Eve pressed. Lucifer sighed, "No. She doesn't." "Well," Eve replied. "I'm not her." Lucifer shook his head, "You don't know me, Eve. Who I truly am." "Show me," Eve quietly demanded.
Lucifer looked into Eve's eyes looking for fear but found none, "Very well. You asked for it." He then revealed his Devil face to her. Eve stayed silent and Lucifer scoffed, "I told you." Eve stepped forward, put her hands on Lucifer's face, and said, "I think you're amazing. All of you." She then leaned up and kissed him passionately. Lucifer pulled back after a few moments and his human face reappeared.
Neither of them noticed Chloe enter and see them making out. She felt tears enter her eyes and she quietly walked back out.
Neither of them noticed that Carlos was standing near the elevator as he got out right before Lucifer discovered the necklace in Eve's purse. He stayed silent and saw the entire exchange. He heard Lucifer defend him. He saw Lucifer's Devil face and was not afraid. But he also saw Eve kiss him passionately. He looked up and saw Chloe enter, tense up, then walk out. He felt sorry for her. Sure what she did was not good for his dad, but he could see the connection the two had. Almost like true love. He looked back at Lucifer and Eve as they held each other. He saw Eve lean up and whisper something in his ear and Lucifer getting a huge grin on his face. He saw Eve looking over at him with a smirk on her face and her eyes glaring at him.
Carlos then cleared his throat and Lucifer pulled away. "Sorry to interrupt," Carlos said. "No apologies necessary," Lucifer said. "Eve and I will just take ourselves upstairs." "But," Carlos said. "I thought we were…." "Change of plans," Lucifer said. "I am going to entertain Eve for the evening. We can talk tomorrow. Come along, Eve." Lucifer walked up to Carlos and whispered, "I will make this up to you. I promise." He walked past him.
Eve walked up to Carlos and whispered, "I don't know who or what you are, and what your connection to Lucifer is, but right now, he's mine." She brushed past him roughly and meet Lucifer in the elevator and Carlos saw the two kiss as the doors closed.
Carlos sighed and pulled out the Ring of Envy and it was pulsing. "Interesting," Carlos said to himself. "It's picking up on someone's jealousy. Hers. Curse of having my mom's ring I guess. When I wear it, people get jealous of me. But it seems that she wants Lucifer all to herself. So that is her goal. And it seems she's jealous of my relationship with Lucifer. Thanks Ring of Envy for that. If she wants to make a competition out of it, fine. I'll play her game. If she tries to mess with my dad, she's going to have to deal with me it seems. I guess my journey here will have some detours. But I will get to know my father and become who I am meant to be." Carlos walked over to the piano and started to play,
Down an unknown road
To embrace my fate
Though the road may wonder
It will lead me to you
And a thousand years
Would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime
But somehow I'll see it through
And I won't look back
I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track
No I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't loose hope
'Till I go the distance
And my journey is complete
Carlos looked up from the piano with red glowing eyes and said, "So, Eve. You won't get in my way. I'm as ready as I'll ever be to get what I want. You are messing with the wrong son of De Vil."
