Six months had passed since the incident at Lux. Lucifer and Eve were in full boyfriend/girlfriend mode and having sex parties almost every night. Lucifer still tried to make time to spend with Carlos for training and to get more info on Carlos' past since he discovered that Carlos' mother was the one who told Carlos about him. He tried to pry the info from Carlos, but after Lucifer let it slip that Carlos told him about it when he was half asleep, Carlos freaked out a little bit and kept his mouth shut. Carlos explained that yes he wanted to tell Lucifer more, but with Eve around and Lucifer's attention being all over the place, he needed more time for his trust in Lucifer to grow. Lucifer reluctantly agreed and let Carlos be. But this led to Lucifer becoming enraptured by Eve, who wanted Lucifer's attention all of the time. She wanted no one else to be a part of Lucifer's life. Not Carlos, not Chloe. She was fine with him going back to work, but she didn't like it when he talked about Chloe. And she didn't like it when he talked about his woes about Carlos hiding things from him. Lucifer never told Eve about what Carlos told him, but Eve didn't like the boy at all.
Carlos meanwhile, while glad that his dad was respecting his decision and happy that Lucifer spent some time with him, he didn't like the fact that he and Eve were getting closer and closer. Lucifer was slowly being wrapped around Eve's finger and she was making it harder for Carlos to spend any time with him. Whenever Carlos tried to talk to Lucifer when Eve was present, Eve would find a way to distract Lucifer and give a sly look to Carlos. Carlos avoided the penthouse when they had any parties. He talked to Linda about it during their sessions but she really couldn't help much. He didn't want to go to Chloe about this as even though she was helpful with him during the Marco incident, he still didn't fully trust her. So he decided that a few days a week, he would return to Auradon to hang out with Jane and his friends as well as do his classes in person. Jane was happy that he was with her again, but she felt that Carlos was a little sad that his dad wasn't helping him more than he was. The Core 4 also agreed. Mal asked if she needed to knock some sense into him, but Carlos told her that she shouldn't go toe to toe with the Devil. Carlos even celebrated his 17th birthday in Auradon with his friends and didn't tell anyone about his birthday back in LA.
Chloe still worked with Lucifer on cases, but she could tell that his attention wasn't always there. She and Amenadiel were keeping an eye out on Eve and they were starting to get concerned about how Lucifer was acting. He was starting to become like his old self. And Chloe was concerned for Carlos. She noticed that there were days when the kid wasn't around and when he was there, he seemed melancholy. He did light up when Lucifer was around, but those moments seemed few and far between.
Maze actually went away during those months for her bounty hunting. She felt bad about leaving Carlos behind alone but she had to do what she had to do.
She arrived back at Lux months later and got on the elevator. Maze was surprised that she didn't see Carlos anywhere and felt his presence lacking. She arrived at the penthouse and saw several men and women in skimpy outfits and sex toys everywhere. She shouted, "Lucifer!" Lucifer popped up from behind one of the couches and said, "There it is." He pulled on of his socks off of a curling iron. He looked up at Maze and said, "Maze! Just in time! You can take my place on the sex swing for the second half. Let's rather turn that frown upside down on the rack. I'm sure Nigel won't mind." "Seriously?" Maze asked. "You haven't had a decent orgy in years. I leave town for two seconds and you Fifty Shades of betray me." "Actually, you've been gone for months," Lucifer argued as he fished one of his shoes out of a kiddie pool. "But, no need to descend into orgy FOMO. This, what you see here, this is just a school night shenanigans. Why don't you come back on Saturday when things get really freaky?"
They heard a whip crack and look up to see Eve as she shouted, "Everyone hydrates! Hostess rules. Nobody passes out unless they want to. Hmm. Who's the new girl?" Eve walked up to Maze, but the demon pulled out one of her knives and held it to Eve's throat saying, "I'm not new. And you can't handle this." "You'd be surprised," Eve replied. Lucifer chuckled, "Calm down, Maze. There's no need to get poky." Eve realized, "Maze? As in Mazikeen of the Lilim? Wow! I am so grateful to you. I mean, this world is full of dumb ass rules. You know, no drugs for breakfast, or, put on some clothes, but you. For years you have been the keeper of Lucifer's devilish flame. He just forgot to mention you are so damn hot!" Maze pulled her knife back and said, "I like her." Lucifer smiled, "I am so glad, because I'm going to have to exit orgy left, I'm afraid. I know sugar plum, but mandatory meeting at work. Can't be helped." He kissed Eve and grabbed a box of donuts and went to the elevator and Maze asked, "So, where's Carlos? I didn't see him on my way up here." Lucifer stopped walking and realized that he didn't know where Carlos was and that saddened him a little bit. But he shook it off and said, "Oh, probably just doing whatever teen boys do in their spare time." He entered the elevator with a sad look on his face that Eve and Maze missed. Eve muttered, "Don't care what that boy is up to. Probably just sulking because he realizes that I am the important one in Lucifer's life."
Lucifer arrived at work and sat on Chloe's desk while she was working. He started to tell some stories to Ella about him and Eve, "So, I'm standing there, buck naked, and then, when I take my blindfold off, I realize my naughty girlfriend has only snuck us into the aquarium after hours. Next thing I know, we are tangled in a touch pool like a pair of randy merpeople. It was so Shape of Water." "Wow!" Ella exclaimed. "That just made my bucket list." "Oh," Lucifer continued, "And Eve did this thing with a conch shell. It was very creative. I'll draw you a diagram if you…" He tried to grab a pen and paper, but Chloe shouted, "No! We are good. We get it. I feel like I am right there with you." Lucifer noticed an irritation in her eyes, "Detective, when you said you were fine hearing about my romantic life with Eve…" "Still am," Chloe interrupted. "Super fine. Fine with the aquarium story, fine with the vat of melted chocolate story with the boning the entire cast of Cirque du Soleil story…" "True," Lucifer told Ella. Chloe continued, "And I, personally, I can't get enough, because it's awesome. But right now, I'm trying to concentrate. Plus, you seem to be only concentrating on stories about Eve. And you never tell us what's going on with Carlos." Lucifer's face sadden as Ella said, "I know. I haven't seen that kid around in ages. I miss him. I mean, I know that you, Chloe, still see him every now and then, but he hasn't come to visit here in months. It's like he's disappearing to another planet or something."
Lucifer realized that Ella was right. He doesn't have any new stories about Carlos. He was respecting the boy's wishes about building trust and not asking about his past, but maybe he was spending more time with Eve than him. Sure they had their training sessions, but thinking about it, it's been months since they last had one. The last time he remembers spending any time with Carlos was over a week ago when Carlos was performing at Lux. Is he going back on his deal with Carlos about not shutting the boy out, about helping him? No, he needed to speak to Carlos very soon.
Suddenly he heard a voice cry, "Lucifer! You brought donuts!" Lucifer turned to see a female cop and said, "Oh, Rookie Joan, I thought a few sweet treats might help these pesky morning meetings go a little easier. Mondays, am I right?" "It's Wednesday," Dan said behind him. "Is it?" Lucifer asked. Chloe nodded in affirmation. Lucifer looked around, "So I completely missed the tutorial on the new computer system?" Chloe nodded, "It's probably for the best." Joan grabbed a donut, but then Lucifer realized, "Oh gosh, no! I'm so sorry. I seem to have picked up the candy dandy rave donuts instead of the regular glazed ones. One bite of these and you'd be riding the rainbow unicorn for days. Come to think of it, I just realized what happened to Monday and Tuesday." Dan sighed, "This is why he shouldn't be a guardian of a kid," and he walked away. Lucifer was a little put off by that statement as Chloe said, "Lucifer, if you'd really like to help, we can get into these case files. Why don't we do that?" Lucifer's phone buzzed and Lucifer said, "Oh, I would love to, Detective, but I'm gonna have to rain check. Promised Eve I'd be home in time for the naughty raffle."
Maze meanwhile arrived back at Linda's place, "Honey, I'm home! Wait, who replaced my knife caddy with this tiny torture device?" "Hello, Mazikeen." Maze turned and saw Amenadiel standing a few feet in front of her, "I've been helping Linda out with a lot of things while you've been hunting bounties for months." Maze sighed, "What else changed while I was gone?"
Linda walked out with some blankets and saw Maze, "Hi!" Maze saw Linda's heavily pregnant belly, "Linda! You're fat!" Amenadiel nervously chuckled, "Well, good luck with all of this. Linda, I'll see you tonight at Lamaze." Linda nodded while Maze asked, "What in la-what now?" "Lamaze," Amenadiel clarified. "It's a baby class for mom and partner. Not mom, partner, and demon. So, please don't get any ideas." Amenadiel walked out of the house while Linda said, "Maybe you could come to the next one." "Whatever," Maze said, scowling at Linda. "You know what I've been hunting all these months along with bounties? This. For the baby. Hope you like it." She kicked over a box to Linda then walked out of the house.
Over in Auradon, Carlos was out on a cliff, looking out at the Isle. Jane was sitting next to him. She was starting to get worried for Carlos. Sure she liked that he was visiting more often, but she knew that Carlos' journey wasn't done yet and she could tell that he was sad about the lack of time he was spending lately with his dad. So she asked, "Carlos, are you doing OK?" Carlos looked over and said, "Why do you ask?" Jane sighed, "I can tell that something has been bothering you for a few months, ever since you first started coming back here after you first went to LA. Right after that bomb situation. You seem to not be spending more time with your dad. Is it because of that Eve lady? Because he found out that your mom told you about him when your guard was down?" Carlos thought for a moment and said, "A lot of things, those being a few of them. Eve thinks she can be the only person in my dad's life. She hates me. I thought I could beat her at this game she created, but she's got my dad wrapped around her finger. If I persuade her to leave, my dad will notice and possibly make me leave. And I almost crossed a line during the bomb incident. And that scared me. Maybe I don't want to control whatever this is. Maybe I just want to bury it."
"You know that's crap, right?" Carlos and Jane turned around to see Mal, Evie, and Jay standing there with Dude at their feet. Carlos looked at Dude and asked, "You told them where we were?" Dude whimpered, "Sorry. I couldn't help it." Mal spoke up, "Look, Carlos, you can't let that lady win. You need your dad right now. You shouldn't try to bury who you are. Look at me, I embrace who I am. Flaws and all. And Ben loves me for that. Like I know Jane does for you." Jane blushed as Evie said, "Don't let her go Evil Queen on you. She's just jealous and pushing you out of the way. She's so acting like my mom." "Look, man," Jay said. "You need to get back there and show her that no one messes with a VK. And we don't want you coming back here until your mission is done. You are not going to back down from this. Be a man and finish this." Carlos chuckled and said, "Maybe I needed a kick in the pants." Jay then kicked him and Carlos yelped. "What?" Jay asked. "You said you needed a kick in the pants." Carlos chuckled as he and Janet stood up, "I am not backing out of this. I just needed time to think. I guess 6 months was too long." "Agreed," Mal said. "Now, you get back to LA and one, learn to become who you were meant to be, two, spend time with your dad so that you can eventually tell him about who you are, and three, teach that woman that no one messes with a VK. Because we're rotten." "To the core," Carlos finished.
Jane looked up at Carlos and said, "Just be safe. I'll be here waiting for you." Carlos smiled and said, "I will. I love you so much." He leaned down and gave Jane a kiss. She pulled back and said, "Love you too." Carlos smiled and Mal opened a portal for him back to the guest level at Lux. "Bye, guys," Carlos said as he walked through. The group waved as he disappeared. They didn't notice a little dog running after Carlos before it was too late.
Carlos appeared back in his bedroom at Lux and said, "OK. Time to step it up. First, Eve." He heard little paws walking behind him and he turned to see Dude walking up to him, "Dude! What are you doing here? You can't just follow me into a portal like that." "What?" Dude said. "I thought you would want some company." Carlos sighed and said, "Fine. But you can't talk to anyone. Only me. Unless it's a emergency. Dogs don't talk here." Dude obeyed his command. Carlos said, "Now stay here. I need to go talk to Eve."
Eve was up in the penthouse with all of her guests about to start another round of orgies. Lucifer had already left as a case popped up. She was about to give instructions when the elevator opened and Carlos walked out. She scowled as Carlos walked in saying, "Well, this is an interesting sight. No more games. Now, everyone who does not live here needs to leave and go to their homes. NOW!" His eyes flashed red and everyone except Eve obeyed his command and they all piled into the elevator, leaving Carlos alone with Eve.
Eve stomped her way to Carlos and said, "Hey, what do you think you're doing? We were about to start…." "Save it," Carlos said holding his hand up. "Now, I let you have your fun with Lucifer a little too long. My fault really. You think you won this, but you're wrong. You took advantage of Lucifer giving me some space and wrapped him around you. Well, I'm here to tell you that it all ends today. You can't keep him all to yourself. He has other priorities in life. You may be all about screwing the rules and having fun, but that's not how life works. One day, you're going to wake up and realize that Lucifer isn't the Devil he was when you first met him thousands of years ago. He's changed. Now, I am here to tell you that I am going to spend more time with Lucifer as that was part of our deal. He's special to me too. Now you need to back off a little or I'll make you. Understand?" Carlos' eyes flashed red and Eve backed away a little. Carlos smiled and said, "Good. Now, I am going to LAPD to see if Lucifer is there. See you later." Carlos turned and left, leaving Eve standing there in fury.
Carlos went back to the guest level where Dude was waiting, "Carlos. I stayed just like you wanted." Carlos chuckled and bent down to pet the dog, "Good boy." "But can we go outside?" Dude asked. "Sure," Carlos said. "I am about to go find my dad. Plus, I am assuming you have to do your business. But hold on, maybe I can make something out on the balcony for you when I am away." Carlos went out to the balcony which was surprisingly a little bigger than Lucifer's balcony and Carlos had put several electronics out there to work on in his spare time. He used his powers to control the electronics and quickly built a multifunction drone. "What's that for?" Dude asked. Carlos smiled, "You'll see. Now I need to work some magic thanks to my mom's ring." He focused on the ring around his neck and using its powers of illusion, transformed the balcony into an outdoor grass area. Dude ran onto the grass and said, "Ah. Much better. But your mom's ring could do that?" "Yeah," Carlos said. "I used it when I first got here to turn Lucifer's clothes into my own. So if I have to leave you here for a while, you can use this space. The drone I built will help maintain it. Now come on, it's time to go find my dad."
Over in a business district of LA, Chloe and Dan arrived at a crime scene with Chloe saying, "I'm sure Lucifer will be here soon." "Lucky us," Dan replied. "Maybe this time he'll show up with a kilo of coke. Or another Mexican wrestler." "That was a scheduling issue," Chloe argued. "More like a life issue," Dan retorted. "As in you cannot live the life that he lives and still works with the LAPD." "Daniel," Chloe sighed. "He'll figure it out. I know things have been off with Lucifer lately, but when it come to thee job, he's got it covered." "Like taking care of a teenager?" Dan argued. Chloe turned to him and said, "Don't go there."
They walked up to where the victim was, and Chloe asked, "Ella, what do we have?" "John Doe," Ella answered. "Died on impact with the fountain after being pushed out of that window up there. One day, he is just living his life. The next, bam! Smashed. Like a bug on a windshield." Lucifer then showed up, "Sorry I'm late, got a little tied up at home. But don't worry, I'll be all business from here on out. Right, what do we got?" He leaned in and Ella noticed that there were two big holes in his pants showing his butt cheeks, "And a party in the back." Chloe scolded, "Lucifer, we are at a crime scene." Lucifer realized, "Oh! I've worm my orgy pants to work, haven't I?"
Ella handed Lucifer some red evidence tape and Lucifer covered his exposed bottom with it. He found Chloe interviewing a lady and went up to her, "Crisis averted, Detective." Chloe sighed, focusing back on the lady, "Anyhow, Ms. Bassich here was telling us about our victim, Gary Van Blunt." "Best auditor I ever had," Ms. Bassich replied. "Hard worker, detail oriented, bit of a bore in personality department if you know what I mean." Lucifer's phone kept buzzing but he ignored it as Chloe said, "And you said Gary's laptop was missing. Do you know if there was any sensitive information on it or any reason someone would want to steal it or keep it from getting out?" Ms. Bassich answered, "What Gary had on that laptop could've shut down dozens of businesses." Lucifer's phone kept buzzing as Chloe asked, "Did you ever receive any threats here at the office?" Lucifer walked away to look at his phone while Ms. Bassich answered, "Gary did mention someone was actually following him, though. Home, work, home." "Yes, I understand," Chloe said as Lucifer walked back to the interview. "Are there security cameras here on the premises or an overnight guard, possibly, that could have seen anything?" She turned and saw a woman sketching the victim. "I think we have a lead, Lucifer." "Right," Lucifer said. "Sorry. Eve was just trying to text me that something happened…"
But Chloe walked over to the sketch artist and said, "LAPD. Detective Decker. Hi." The artist looked up and said, "Oh. Sorry. I know it's sad or whatever, but Big Nose Brown Shoes in that pose is the most artistically stimulating thing I've seen out here, well, ever." "Big Nose Brown Shoes?" Chloe asked. "I don't know their names," the artist revealed. "So, do you draw here regularly?" Chloe asked. "Every day on my lunch break," the artist answered. "You know, so my soul doesn't die up there in the cubicle." Chloe then asked, "Do you happen to have any more drawings of Big Nose Brown Shoes?" The artist handed over her drawings and Chloe flipped through them, "So, this guy here. He is in a lot of your drawings." "Square Jaw buzz Cut," the artist answered. "What about him?" "Do you know if he knew Big Nose Brown Shoes?" Chloe asked. "I don't think so," the artist answered. "But I did wonder if he had a crush on Big Nose, though. Because he was always, like, watching him." "Your work is very good," Lucifer commented. "Do you ever do nudes? Couples, perhaps." Chloe stopped it right there, "OK, thank you. I will need to hold on to this one but we are done here. Thank you."
The artist walked away and Chloe said, "OK, Lucifer, I need to talk to you. Your extracurricular activities are starting to hinder our job. There is a dead man right there and you showing up to his murder scene in ass-less slacks is not only disrespectful to the LAPD, is it disrespectful to him. So if you can't take what we do seriously, then maybe you shouldn't be here." Lucifer nodded, "No, I understand, Detective, and I apologize. I haven't been at my best today. But I do take our work, our partnership, very seriously. In fact, I hereby promise that the personal shall interfere with the professional no more." His phone went off again and he pulled it out and put the phone on silent and said, "Here, silent. From here on in, you won't even know I have a personal life."
"That will be interesting to see." Lucifer and Chloe turn around to see Carlos standing there with Dude on the ground next to him. "Hello, Carlos," Chloe greeted. "I haven't seen you around in a while. And you have a dog now." "Yeah," Carlos said walking up. "I spent too long needing space. Now, I am back here to spend some time with my guardian and the people he cares about." Lucifer looked down at Dude and asked, "And why do you have a dog with you?" Carlos looked down at Dude and said, "Oh, this is Dude. He followed me here to LA after I came back from home recently." Lucifer was puzzled at the point when Carlos mentioned he went home, as he didn't know where Carlos was from. Saving that point for later, he got out his phone, then looked at Carlos and asked, "Did you do something to Eve?" "No," Carlos said. "She's still back at the penthouse. I just cleared out the party. Maybe it will help you take work more seriously like Chloe wants you to and get your priorities straight. Right, Chloe?" Chloe smiled as Lucifer said, "You what? You forced them to leave? Fine. I see your point. I'm not happy about it, but I understand why you did. You're right. I need to get my priorities taken care of. I'm just wrapping up here. Why don't you meet me back at Lux?" "Sure," Carlos said. "See you later, Chloe." He turned and walked away, Dude following him. Chloe looked up at Lucifer and said, "I guess you now have both a kid to look after and a dog, along with Eve. Good luck with that."
Maze returned to Lux with some cans of beer. She still didn't see Carlos around so she went up to the penthouse. She saw that the orgy party was done and shouted, "Does no one need a demon today?" "I could use one." Maze looked over and saw Eve sitting in the middle of a kiddie pool eating in self pity. Eve turned to Maze and said, "Lucifer and I were supposed to bake and Drake tonight. You know, like, really bakes and watch a Drake concert. But he had to go back to work. I'm really happy he had a job, I am. But, I just didn't think he would be there all the time." "Yeah," Maze mused. "Used to drive me nuts too. Until I got a life. Smashing heads, hunting bounties. You know, my own thing." "I don't want to do my own thing," Eve argued. "I just want to be with Lucifer, and now that the kid is back, who sent all my guests away and is challenging me, I just want to sit and think about my next step." Maze was intrigued as to why Eve didn't like Carlos and seemed really clinging to Lucifer, so she said, "You know, I happen to have some free time on my hands today. Why don't we do our own thing together?" Eve immediately said, "I'm sure Lucifer will be back any minute. Hopefully without that kid with him." "Or maybe he won't," Mae countered. "You're Eve! You are the first best party girl ever! Are you gonna sit at home, waiting for your man, and because a kid ruined your party, or are you going to come and party with me?" Eve thought about it, "Well, I do like to party." Maze grinned, "Yeah, you do!"
Amenadiel was walking around a shopping district in downtown LA and was looking at a window display that had nursery furniture in it. But in the window's reflection, Amenadiel saw a woman across the street wearing ancient warrior gear and holding a spear. He looked behind him and saw nothing. Suspicious, he walked toward an alley and waited behind a section of the building. He heard the strange woman approach and he grabbed her and pinned her to the wall, her spear pressing against his abdomen. "Hello, brother," the woman said. Amenadiel finally chuckled, "It's good to see you, Remiel." The two angel siblings hugged and Amenadiel asked, "So, what brings you to Earth? Silver City run out of stags to hunt, you need a break from Castiel singing, or you just miss your big bro?"
Remiel sighed, "I wish I was here for such frivolous reasons. But we have a problem. For the first time in millennia, I've sensed new Celestials. Right here in Los Angeles. But you already knew that. Didn't you, brother?" Amenadiel was silent, then said, "Wait, you said Celestials. There's more than one here?"
Meanwhile, Carlos returned to Lux with Dude and saw Linda standing near the elevator. He walked over and greeted, "Hello, Linda. How are you?" Linda turned and said, "Carlos. I haven't seen you for a while. It's been a few weeks since our last session. Oh, I see you have a little friend with you." "Sorry about that," Carlos said. "I needed time…..away for a bit to think about some things. But I'm back. And this is Dude, my dog from home. Are you here to see Lucifer?" Linda nodded, "As well as you. Why don't we go up to Lucifer's penthouse? I need to rest my feet." "Of course," Carlos said, guiding Linda into the elevator. They stopped by the guest suite so Carlos could drop off Dude, then they went up to the penthouse.
When they reached the penthouse, they saw that Eve had left, but the place was a mess. "Ah," Carlos said. "I guess no one bothered to clean up after the party ended. Here, I can clean off the couch so you can sit on it." "That's veery kind of you," Linda said as Carlos got some cleaning supplies and cleaned all the chairs and couches off. Linda sat down and Carlos joined her after putting the supplies away. "Now," Linda said. "You mentioned about your mother, that you had to do chores for her. Was cleaning here triggering in any way?" Carlos shrugged, "A little. But unfortunately chores are so ingrained into my head that it's become natural, sadly. But I did it to help you, so that helps in this case." Linda nodded, "And you said you went away to think about some things. What did you need to think about?" Carlos sighed, "I guess…Lucifer has been busy with Eve and Eve seems petty about it with me. She's trying to compete with me for Lucifer's attention. She took advantage of needing some time to think after the Lux incident and I let my guard down and Eve swept right in. It frustrated me that I let that happen. So I went….to see my friends for a bit. They, along with my girlfriend, knocked some sense into me." Linda nodded, "And I am assuming you went home since you brought back your dog? Where is home for you?" Carlos sighed, "Far away from here. If I told you, you wouldn't believe me."
Before Linda could ask, the elevator doors opened and Lucifer walked in. He went straight for the bar, pulled some pants up and put them on after taking off his orgy pants, "Who is ready for bake and Drake?" Carlos chuckled as Linda called out, "Lucifer. " Lucifer looked over and said, "Doctor. Carlos. Yes, well, I'm afraid you've missed the can join me on Saturday…." Carlos shook his head as Linda interrupted, "I came here because you've canceled three therapy sessions. I want to make sure you are OK. And to check on Carlos." Lucifer finished putting his new pants on and said, "Oh, no, I'm fine. I'm more than fine, actually. Living my best life on all fronts. Balancing work and pleasure and training with Carlos like a finely calibrated machine. You haven't seen a tiny divine brunette, have you?" Carlos looked down at the table and saw a book with a note from Eve. Carlos picked it up and showed Lucifer. Lucifer walked over and read, "You didn't show and the party ended thanks to that kid, so I went out with Maze. Hope you're not dead. Eve." Lucifer sighed, "Well, I admit there are still a few kinks to work out. Speaking of, if you'll excuse me." He sat down as Linda said, "If can't be easy all these years upholding human law." Lucifer pulled out his phone and was looking at something, "Eve will love this." Carlos sighed as Linda continued, "Exploring your caring, altruistic side with Chloe, along with Carlos here, and now being in a committed relationship with Eve, who expects you to be your old hedonistic devil self at all times…" Lucifer wasn't listening and Linda was getting frustrated, along with Carlos, so he said, "Lucifer, put the phone away. Now." Lucifer felt his body obey and he put his phone away. "Thank you," Linda said. "Carlos, you seem to have a gift like Lucifer here, but different." Carlos nodded in agreement as Lucifer glared, "I hate it when you do that to me, Carlos." Carlos stared at Lucifer, "Practice, really. Besides, you need to listen to Linda."
Linda continued, "When you bifurcate your life this way, good and bad, crime solver and mentor and orgy host, you're effectively denying half of yourself all of the time. Lucifer, if you don't stop pulling yourself in opposite directions, you're going to come undone." Lucifer laughed as he stood up, "What? That is preposterous. I mean, I finally got everything I ever wanted. I've got a girlfriend who accepts, nay, appreciates that I'm the devil, makes every waking moment a non-stop bacchanal, there's Carlos here receiving my help with controlling his powers, and then there's work. And I don't need to tell you how important that is to me." "No, you don't," Linda agreed. Lucifer continued, "So you see why I'm no longer in need of therapy, doctor. Perfection achieved." "Oh, really?" Carlos asked. "Then why did you use your phone just now to order apology gifts for both Eve and Chloe? And where's my gift? Where's my apology?" Lucifer stared at Carlos and saw hurt in the boy's eyes. But then his phone buzzed and he said, "Well, I'm sorry, but we're going to have to leave it there. There appears to have been a break in the case. But, Carlos, why don't you come with? I can start my apology to you right now." Carlos stood up and said, "Fine. Linda, do you need help getting back downstairs?" Linda shook her head and Lucifer dragged Carlos to the elevator.
Carlos shouted, "We need to stop by the guest suite first." "Ah," Lucifer remembered. "Because of that dog you brought here with you?" Carlos nodded as the elevator stopped on the guest floor and Carlos ran over to where Dude was. Lucifer saw Carlos whisper into Dude's ear and Lucifer could of swore that he saw the dog nod his head. But Carlos ran back to the elevator and left with Lucifer.
Lucifer put Carlos in his car and drove to where Chloe was, "Carlos, I really do want to apologize to the lack of time spent with you lately. It's just…" "What?" Carlos interrupted. "Eve's got you all wrapped up? I noticed. But you didn't even notice that I left for days at a time for the past six months." "To home, like you said earlier," Lucifer tried to look at Carlos, but had to keep his eyes on the road. "Where is home for you?" "Do you really care about that?" Carlos asked. Lucifer sighed, "Honestly, yes. I am still your guardian as was part of our deal, so where is home for you?" Lucifer asked. Carlos said nothing as Lucifer sighed, "You know, I am really getting tired of your secrecy. I gave you space after I told you that you let slip that your mother told you about me. Well, it's been six months and I need some answers here. And now you have a dog with you that I have to worry about too." "I will tell you," Carlos said. "But not now. Later. You're in the middle of a case, remember? And don't worry about Dude. I will take full responsibility for him." Lucifer sighed and kept driving.
Chloe was waiting in a car in a parking garage when Lucifer knocked on the window, "Detective. Hi." Chloe rolled down the window and whispered, "Lucifer, get in the car!" Lucifer got in and said, "Sorry I'm late, OK? I had someone to bring with me." Carlos hopped into the back seat and said, "Hey, Chloe. Stakeout, I believe?" Chloe sighed and said, "Hello, Carlos. Just keep quiet back there." Carlos nodded as Lucifer asked, "What have we got?" Chloe answered, "Ella rain a facial recognition on the sketch of Gary's stalker and got a hit. A guy named Vince Walker, ex-marine, and we couldn't get a physical address, but his name is registered to that car. So as you said, Carlos, we're on a stakeout. Undercover." "Understood, detective. You can count on me. I will not take my eyes off that vehicle." "Why do I not believe that," Carlos muttered.
Meanwhile, Amenadiel and Remiel were walking side by side in the shopping district as Remiel said, "Come now, brother. We both knew it was only a matter of time before this happened." "We did?" Amenadiel asked. "Of course," Remiel answered. "There was bound to be a child eventually, or more, because of all the meaningless sexual encounters." "I wouldn't say they were meaningless," Amenadiel argued. "Oh, please," Remiel scoffed. "Our brother Lucifer is a….What do they call it here? A slut." "Lucifer?" Amenadiel asked. "You're here because you think Lucifer has fathered a half-human child?" "Not just one," Remiel replied. "Two. The baby was what got our attention. Amenadiel, it must have been difficult for you. Bearing the burden of Lucifer's secret alone in order to protect him. But I'm here now, brother. Together, we can put an end to this madness."
Amenadiel stopped walking, "Whoa, Remy. What do you mean exactly by put an end to it?" Remiel sighed, "As we both know, it's forbidden for humans and celestials to intermingle in an amorous manner. The children should not exist." "The children are innocent," Amenadiel argued. "Exactly," Remiel countered. "Which is why we must find the children, snatch them up and take them to Heaven for the rest of eternity." "Wait a minute," Amenadiel said. "You never explained that you felt two children. I thought it was just the baby." Remiel explained, "While the baby was felt recently, the other child was first felt over six months ago. However, its presence has been fading in and out. I don't know why. But from what I could feel, the child is older than the baby, by at least 16-17 years. And this child is getting stronger and more powerful. We must find it along with the baby and take them to Heaven."
Remiel revealed her wings and Amenadiel made her put them away, "Remy, put your wings away! Humans aren't supposed to see them." "Right," Remiel sighed. "I forgot. Please slow time so these barely sentient creatures won't se us fly away." "Well, I can't slow time," Amenadiel revealed. He then realized what he said and backpedaled, "Because that would be too easy. Look, this is our first brother-sister hunt in over a millennia. Why not make it a proper challenge? Since we have to hunt for two children?" Remiel laughed, "You are right. To the challenge! But where might we find the kind of human woman that Lucifer would impregnate? And then we need to find out where older children hang out." "OK," Amenadiel said. "Let's start with the first one, then the second. And I know exactly where to start. But, perhaps we should begin with a change of clothes."
Back with Lucifer, Chloe, and Carlos, Chloe sighed as the time passed. It was now night time. Carlos had fallen asleep in the back and Chloe looked back at the kid. She still felt sorry for the abuse he had to deal with in his past and loved the innocent look he had when he was sleeping. Chloe looked back out toward the other cars and said to Lucifer," Lucifer, I'm sorry that I was hard on you before. You know, we all have our personal lives and I go to parent-teacher conferences and you host sex parties while looking after a kid, so, to each their own. Look, as long as you continue to wear actual pants to work, then, if you're happy, I'm happy."
She heard snoring and looked over to see Lucifer asleep. Sighing, Chloe decided to get some things off of her chest, "You know, I'm not happy. Of course I want you to be happy. But the way that you are happy, it makes me uncomfortable. It makes me feel sick, to be honest. And yes, sometimes it makes me jealous. So I hate the way you are happy. And there it is."
"I agree." Chloe turned to see Carlos leaning on the backseat, "Sorry. But you are louder than you think." Chloe asked, "When did you wake up?" "Right when you started talking a couple minutes ago," Carlos answered. "Sorry, it's me. I'm a light sleeper. Had to be where I grew up. Didn't want anyone sneaking up on you." Chloe sighed, realizing that if she asked, he would clam up. So she said, "So you're not happy with Lucifer's happiness?" Carlos shook his head," No, but it mainly revolves around Eve. I don't like or trust her. She's making him….different than he was when I first met him." "Yea," Chloe said. "To be honest, Amenadiel and I have been keeping track of Lucifer and Eve and he seems to be reverting back to his old self sometimes. And there are parts of his old self that scares me." "I agree," Carlos said. "Based on what I heard before I came here. I thought he changed, but I guess not. But Eve is not good for him. She just wants Lucifer's attention all the time and it's getting creepy."
Chloe wanted to ask more, but then she saw a man walk to the car she was watching and woke Lucifer up, who said, "Fetch me the goat!" Lucifer started to move, but Chloe stopped him, "No, wait. We need to make sure that this is the guy." They saw the guy put on a robber's mask and put a black bag around a woman's head. "I think that is the guy," Lucifer said as he, Chloe, and Carlos, got out of the car.
They all ran over as the guy loaded the woman into the trunk of the car and say, "Good strong donkey kicks. Now locate the trunk release." "Stop!" Carlos shouted and the man froze and the woman stopped kicking. "LAPD," Chloe said pulling out her gun. "Step away from the victim." The two didn't move as they were still obeying Carlos' command. Chloe looked at Carlos who said, "Oh, right. Do as she says." The man pulled off his mask and Chloe identified, "Vincent Walker." Vincent sighed, "You mind? We're kind of in the middle of something here." The woman got out of the trunk and pulled the bad off of her head, "Is this part of the scenario? Because we haven't done crossfire drills yet. I need to give it a shot."
Vincent looked at Chloe and said, "You can put the gun away, detective. I run a K and R outfit. Kidnap and ransom. We offer abduction survival courses for frequent travelers like Joyce here." Joyce added, "They are the best in the business. My employer pays for everybody in the Bogota office to get kidnapped at least once. It's my third time." "Quite the thrill seeker, aren't you?" Lucifer asked. Carlos chuckled as Chloe asked, "OK, who paid you to kidnap Cary Van Blunt?" Vincent laughed, "As usual, you cops have it all wrong. Our parent company paid Mr. Van Blunt to audit us. That was a formality. Typical government red tape. Then her accused me of paying off Bolivian border guards." "And were you?" Chloe asked. "Of course he was," Lucifer chimed in. Vincent nodded in agreement, "Damn right I was. To keep my clients safe. Everyone in my line does. I told Gary his goody two shoes routine could cost people their lives, but he wouldn't listen." "So you murdered him," Lucifer guessed. "He didn't," Carlos said. "The kid's right," Vincent said. "I tailed him a little. Hoped to scare him into shutting up. From home to work and not much else. The poor sav was the human equivalent of watching paint dry. Until he wasn't. Couple of days ago he breaks routine. Takes off in a Malibu Canyon. I lost him. Cops pulled me over for speeding." "And I suppose you have an alibi for last night at 12:30," Chloe said. Vincent smiled, "As it happens, I was on a three day mission to Cape Town. Flew into LAX a couple of hours ago. Are we good?"
Chloe nodded as she, Lucifer, and Carlos walked back to her car, "Well, that was a bust. But now we know how Gary spend the last day of his life. In the 5,800 acres of Malibu Canyon. Alright, I'm going to go back to the precinct. I'm going to work up a list of what homes and businesses we canvas first. Lucifer, why don't you and Carlos go back to Lux and get some sleep?" "Nonsense, Detective. I've already had my cat nap. I insist you go home and get some rest and I'll burn the midnight oil at the station." "You're offering to do hours of tedious research?" Chloe asked. "I want to do whatever its takes to secure justice for poor boring Gary. Detective, recent missteps aside, you should know, when I'm on the job, thee job has my complete devotion." "Thank you, Lucifer. That means a lot," Chloe said before turning to Carlos. "And Carlos, what about you? Do you need to get some sleep?" "I got some," Carlos said. "But I should probably get back to Lux and check on Dude. And create future set lists. It's been a while since I played at Lux and checked the security so I should do that." He started to walk away as Lucifer said, "How are you going to get back? I drove you here." Carlos turned, smiling, and held out his hand and Lucifer's keys came flying out of Lucifer's pocket and into Carlos' hand. "I'll just drive your car back. I'll bring it around to LAPD tomorrow morning." He turned and walked away leaving Lucifer shocked and Chloe chuckling to herself. Chloe turned to Lucifer and said, "I can drop you off at LAPD. Then I'll see you tomorrow." "Yes," Lucifer said. "Bright and early."
Carlos arrived back at Lux returning Lucifer's car to the garage. He took the elevator up and Dude was waiting for him when he arrived at the guest suite, "Hey, Carlos. You've been gone for a while." "Yeah, sorry about that," Carlos said. "There was a stakeout, it took longer than I thought." He pulled off his chain and his white hair returned. "You know," Dude said. "You shouldn't be relying on your mom's ring all the time. Why are you hiding your hair anyway?" "Dude," Carlos sighed. "You have to remember that this isn't Auradon. Magic doesn't really exist here and a kid with white hair with black roots will stand out in a bad way. I have to look normal. Besides, my hair gives away my genetics a bit." "Your dad doesn't know you're his son?" Dude asked. Carlos sighed again, "No, he doesn't. I've been working on my trust with him and I don't know how he'll react with how he's been lately." He walked over and sat on his bed and Dude jumped up, "Do I need to tell you to man up again?" Carlos chuckled and petted Dude, "No. It's complicated Dude. Just trust me, OK?"
Maze and Eve returned from a night of partying to the penthouse and saw that Lucifer had not returned. Maze saw the disappointed look in Eve's eyes and said, "Oh, girl, don't even start." Eve sulked, "It's just that when he leaves me hanging like this, it reminds me of Adam. You know I was his second wife, right? Literally created for the guy and our entire marriage he was pining over wife numero uno. "Lilith tamed the beasts of the night. Stupid perfect Lilith."" Maze looked at Eve and said, "She wasn't perfect." Eve realized why Maze said that and said, "Oh, my God. My God. I'm so sorry. I completely forget that she was your mother." "Yes, so did she," Maze said as she gulped down her drink.
Suddenly a delivery man came up and said, "I've got a package for Eve from Lucifer. You don't need to sign anything. The kid gave the go ahead." Eve squealed as she shouted, "Oh, my God! What is it?" The delivery man left as Eve pulled over the covering to reveal a copier. "I don't get it," Eve said. She figured out that she had to plug it in, and the copier started to print off the words, "Sorry, Detective. I won't let you down again, ever." Eve was disappointed that is was for Eve.
Meanwhile, Carlos was already driving back to LAPD with Dude sitting in the passenger seat, as the dog was bored sitting in the guest suite at Lux, chuckling to himself, having already known thanks to letting the delivery guy in that Lucifer mixed up Chloe and Eve's apology gifts. "So," Dude said. "Why are we going to the police station? I don't think they'll like having me there." "Relax, Dude," Carlos said. "You'll be fine. If there's a problem, I'll just use my persuasive powers. No big deal." Dude wasn't so sure, but didn't say anything else.
He arrived at LAPD and went inside to see Eve's present, a sex doll, sitting at Chloe's desk. He walked over as Chloe said, "Oh, look. There is a card." Dan stopped her, "You really need a card to know who that's from?" Carlos walked up and said, "Yeah. This is interesting." Chloe and Dan turned to Carlos and Chloe asked, "You knew about this?" Carlos nodded, "But this is Eve's gift. Your gift was accidentally delivered to Eve. It was a printer that was supposed to print out an apology message. At least that's what the delivery guy told me." Chloe looked down and saw Dude sitting next to Carlos, "Carlos, I don't think you can bring your dog in here." "Relax," Carlos said. "Dude is fully trained and is my companion animal. He'll be fine. Trust me." Chloe felt her body obey along with Dan and Chloe sighed to herself, knowing what Carlos just did. Dan sighed and wheeled the chair with the sex doll to the conference room where Lucifer was sleeping after staying up all night going over research. Dan roughly woke him up and Lucifer sat right up. Chloe held up the note and read, "For us to enjoy together?" Lucifer stuttered, "I can explain…" "Don't bother," Chloe interrupted. "Carlos explained that this was supposed to be for Eve and my gift was delivered to her by mistake." Dan pushed the chair away and shouted, "Enough! This is ridiculous!" Carlos grabbed Dan by the shoulder and said, "Relax, man. It was a simple mistake. Geez, holding a grudge much?" Lucifer saw Dude and asked, "You brought the dog here?" Carlos nodded and Lucifer sighed, "Not helpful when I am trying to be professional." "It's OK," Carlos said. "I explained that this is my companion animal. They were fine with it." Lucifer noticed the glint in Carlos' eyes and Lucifer smirked.
Suddenly, Ella came running in and said, "You guys. Oh, and Carlos. With cute dog. Anyway, the suit doesn't fit! Literally or figuratively. The clothes Gary Van Blunt died in were, like, two sizes too big and a tea bracket more expensive than anything else in his closet. The clothes weren't his." "Wait," Chloe realized. "So the killer forced Gary to change clothes before they pushed him out the window, but why?" Lucifer then remembered something from his research, "No, I don't think they made him change clothes. I think they made him put clothes on. Found something on the map last night. If you combine it with Ms. Lopez's findings…." He pointed to a location on the map, "I think I know where Gary was when the killer snatched him." Ella saw it and said, "Oh, my gosh! Can I please come?" Chloe sighed, then immediately said, "Carlos, you are not coming." "That's fine," Carlos said. "If my girlfriend found out I went to that place, she'll never forgive me."
Lucifer, Chloe, and Ella arrived at the location Lucifer showed them on the map: Willow Glen, a nudist sanctuary. Chloe saw the sign above the entrance and said, "This is perfect. Just perfect." "So cool," Ella commented. A security guard came over and Chloe said, "Hi, LAPD. We need to get into this sanctuary to interview about Gary Van Blunt." The guard said, "Sorry, but rules are rules. You want to go inside, you got to get naked. Either that, or get a warrant." Chloe sighed, "Fine, I'll get a warrant." She turned around and saw that Lucifer had taken off all of his clothes. Lucifer smiled, "When in Rome, Detective." "Please put your clothes back on," Chloe said. "We are professionals. Ella, see if you can get a warrant from Judge…" She looked over and saw that Ella had also taken off all of her clothes. Ella shrugged, "Bucket list?" Lucifer then said, "Don't worry, Detective. Miss Lopez and I are on the case." They handed their clothes to the guard and walked into the sanctuary, leaving Chloe standing there awkwardly.
They started asking people about Gary, "You don't happen to recognize this unfortunate looking chap?" One guy said, "Don't recognize him. Do you have any pictures of him without his clothes on?" Another lady said, "Of course I know Gary. He is the sweetest thing. He's almost as sweet as my mango coladas. Do you want one or two?"
They finally found an older couple who knew him well. The woman said, "I just can't believe Gary's gone! He's only been coming for a couple of months, but he really found his happy place here." Lucifer asked, "And how could you tell he was happy? Oh, don't worry. We know." The lady continued, "And he was so active in the community. Chess club, book club. He even offered to help us all with our taxes." "Hold on," Lucifer stopped her. "You are saying that Gary was an avid nudist and a devoted accountant?" The lady smiled, "Naturalists come in all forms. In our community, we have teachers, judges, scientists." "What about enemies?" Ella asked. "Did Gary have anyone he butted heads with in the community?" The lady answered, "Oh, Gary didn't have a contrary bone in his naked butt. I can't imagine him saying a harsh word to anybody." The guy sitting next to her said, "Except maybe to Julian. Remember? We saw them arguing in the meditation yurt. I couldn't understand exactly what they were saying, I didn't have my hearing aids in. But it looked heated." "And Julian is?" Lucifer asked. "Julian McCaffrey," the lady answered. "Son of the late Willow McCaffrey. The founder of Willow's Glen." The guy added, "Julian inherited this place after his mother died, but he's nothing like her. He's brought in drugs and prostitutes." The lady interrupted, "Well, we are not sure they are prostitutes." The guy argued, "Come on, Annie, you know as well as I do. That millennial pervert has turned our little slice of heaven into a devil's playground." "Well," Lucifer responded. "I'll be the judge of that."
Lucifer and Ella made their way over to the VIP lounge where Julian and two young women were in the hot tub and Lucifer and Ella got in and introduced themselves. Julian smiled, "Welcome to the VIP lounge. Speaking of which, you two are not at all what I pictured when I heard that cops were here. Who knows?" "We're not cops," Lucifer and Ella said at the same time. "I'm actually a forensic scientist," Ella clarified. "And I'm the devil," Lucifer added. Julian chuckled, then got serious, "Oh, hey, I wanted to say how sorry I was when I heard about Gary. He is going to be missed by the entire community." "Cut the crap," Ella interrupted. "We know you two argued in the meditation yurt the day he died." Julian sighed, "Well, it's not what you think. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but Gary, he was coming on pretty strong to some of our more attractive female members, making them uncomfortable. So I had to give him firm advice. Probably did him a favor, honestly." "How altruistic of you," Lucifer replied. Julian continued, "My point is that the last time I saw Gary, he was alive, and well, still trying to bat out of his league. So, if I can help you with anything else, I'm starting to prune."
He started to get out, but then Chloe walked up, fully clothed, and said, "Yeah, you are. What are you? A size 34 pant, 13 shoe?" Julian replied, "Good guess. Why?" "You are under arrest," Chloe answered. "Oh, and the precinct has a strong no nudity policy, so put on some clothes. And you two as well." Lucifer and Ella nodded reluctantly.
Over at Lux, Amenadiel brought Remiel in with him after getting her new clothes, "How can human women wear these torture devices? What are they called?" "Jeans," Amenadiel answered. Remeil sighed as she looked out at the crowd, "How could Lucifer ever procreate with these jeans-laden humans? They are selfish and greedy. And they smell wrong." Amenadiel sighed, "Well, Remy, perhaps Lucifer discovered that not all humans are selfish, greedy and smelly. Perhaps he even met one that was rather special. One that helped him learn things, about himself, and the universe, that he never would have learned without her." He drank some of his whiskey and looked up to see Remiel looking at him weird. Amenadiel cleared his throat, "Yeah. I'm just guessing about Lucifer."
Remiel shook her head and said, "Maybe for one. But with two different women? I don't think so. Especially since the first time seemed sketchy." Amenadiel looked up at Remiel and asked, "Remy, what are talking about? You said that the older child is about 16-17 years old. But how could Lucifer have a kid that old and we not know about it? The last time he came to Earth before he left Hell for good was 40 years ago." "I know," Remiel said. "So I talked to Raphael. And she said that around 18 years ago, Lucifer mysteriously disappeared from Hell for around 10-12 hours. A blink of an eye for us, but still that's enough time to leave Hell, find a woman, and do the deed that results in a child." "You said disappeared," Amenadiel replied. "What do you mean by that?" Remiel sighed, "Raphael said that he wasn't in Hell at that time, but he also wasn't on Earth. I think he left in a similar way to how our mother recently left: to another dimension." "But how?" Amenadiel said. "The Flaming Sword was still in pieces back then and Raphael is the only one of us who can open portals like that." "I know," Remiel answered. "Raphael said that when it was investigated, without Lucifer's knowledge, she found traces of something that doesn't belong in this world: magic. Whatever realm he went to had magic. And a little over six months ago, she felt another magical portal open in LA. Then it went quiet, then started to pick up a few months ago. She tried to track them, but the portals were closing faster than she could track. But that was around the same time I detected the celestial child along with the baby. I believe the older child has magic in its blood along with celestial DNA."
Amenadiel nodded solemnly as his phone went off. He pulled it out to find messages from Linda asking him where he was and that he was supposed to go to Lamaze with her. Remiel tried to look at his phone, but Amenadiel put it away and said, "Advertisements. Greedy humans."
Linda ended up taking Maze with her to Lamaze class instead. The class watched a graphic birthing video which made Linda shocked and Maze was happily eating popcorn as she was enjoying it. Th video ended and the instructor said, "And that is what the birth process looks like up close. Any questions?" Maze raised her hand and asked, "Can we see the part about the torn perineum again, please?" The instructor was shocked by the question but answered, "Um, giving thee time restraints, perhaps it's best we move on to infant care. Let's feed our babies. Now, whether your choice is breast or bottle, what's most important is the intimate bonding time you're spending with your little angel. In your arms, your baby will feel safe, and satiated, and most of all, loved. Your babies will only be babies for a short time, but the bonds they form with you now are the foundation for healthy and nurturing relationships." Linda smiled, "That was beautiful, wasn't it? I'm so glad you are here, Maze. Maze?" She looked behind her and saw Maze was gone, as the words the instructor said got to her personally.
Carlos was sitting at LAPD with Dude in Ella's lab. Dude walked around sniffing stuff and Carlos said, "Careful, Dude. There's stuff in here that is not good for dogs." Suddenly the door burst open and Trixie came running in, "Carlos!" She hugged Carlos who said, "Hey, Trixie." Trixie pulled back and said, "It's been a while. Where have you been?" "Around," Carlos answered cryptically. Trixie saw Dude on the ground and asked, "Is this your dog? What's his name?" "His name is Dude," Carlos said. "And yes, he's mine. He needed some fresh air so I brought him here as I needed to return Lucifer's car to Lucifer."
They heard noise outside the lab and looked out to see Chloe dragging Julian to the interview room. "Man," Trixie said. "My mom looks pissed." "You aren't wrong there." Lucifer came walking in with Ella and Lucifer said, "Come on, Carlos. We need to head back to Lux. The Detective wants to go the interview alone. Plus, it seems we have our man so case closed." Carlos nodded and said, "Bye, Trixie. Bye, Ella. Dude, come." Lucifer and Carlos walked out with Dude following behind. Lucifer grabbed the gift meant for Eve on the way out.
Chloe started her interview with Julian, "So it's a coincidence that the shoes and clothes Gary Van Blunt died in match your sizes and favorite label exactly? Not to mention you were seen arguing with him on the day he was murdered. Things aren't looking good for you, Julian." "Yeah," Gary said in a bored tone. "I'm not too worried." "Why is that?" Chloe asked. Julian then counted down from three and the doors burst open and Gary's lawyer comes in, "Judge's order. Release our client on his own recognizance." "What happened to the two million dollar bail?" Chloe asked. "Already paid in full," the lawyer answered. Gary stood up and said, "Well, this was fun, but I've got a naked limbo contest to judge at four, so…"
He then left with the lawyer. Dan had just finished talking with Trixie at his desk and walked over to Chloe who asked, "How did he get away with this?" "Yeah, McCaffrey?" Dan answered. "That's his mom's maiden name. Guess who his dad is. Jacob Tierning." "As in Tierning Shipping?" Chloe asked. "That's right," Dan answered. "The guy practically owns every port on the Pacific." "That explains the confidence," Chloe replied. "One whiff of trouble and daddy bails him out." "Yeah," Dan said. "With the money they left behind, the guy is practically untouchable." "No one's untouchable," Chloe commented.
Lucifer and Carlos returned to Lux and Lucifer dropped Carlos off at the guest suite. Dude went running around as Lucifer said to Carlos, "Well, case seems to be done for now. We need to talk." Carlos sighed, "OK. But maybe you should put the doll down. It's hard to take you seriously." Lucifer complied and put the doll down, "OK, I have questions and I want you to answer them." "Fine," Carlos said.
"First," Lucifer said. "Is it true that your mother was the one who told you about me?" Carlos nodded and said, "Yea. She said that you can help me learn about who I am. Why I am the way I am. She wouldn't really go into any more specifics. So I had to do some research about you before I left home to come here." "Home," Lucifer replied. "Where is home for you?" "Far away from here," Carlos answered. "That piece of info I want to keep to myself for now." "Because it is a place of magic?" Lucifer asked. Carlos stared up at Lucifer in shock, "How did you know?" Lucifer reached and pulled out the chain carrying Carlos' ring on it, "This ring. I felt its magical aura. Especially when you used it to make yourself invisible." Carlos sighed, "It's true. Where I come from is a place that has magic. Both good and bad. I grew up in a place where magic was cut off and bad people lived. My mother was one of them. This ring contains all of her magic after it was stripped from her. She calls it the Ring of Envy. Illusion magic, if you will." "Ring of Envy?" Lucifer looked down at the ring and felt the aura of its previous user as he heard a voice in his head, "Show me a good time, my devil." The voice cackled evilly as he pulled his hand away, the voice familiar to him, but why? Carlos saw the shocked look on Lucifer's face and asked, "Are you OK?" Lucifer needed time to process what he learned and said, "Fine. I'm fine. Thank you, Carlos, for telling me this. Thank you for trusting me with this. Now, I need to spend some time with Eve. She deserves it. Why don't you go play in the club tonight?" Lucifer turned and picked up the doll and walked to the elevator.
"You're shutting me out again," Carlos called out. Lucifer turned and asked, "What do you mean?" Carlos sighed, "You promised me that you would not shut me out. But you've been doing that these past six months. That's why I've been going back home every so often. Linda's right. You are pulling yourself in multiple directions. And not in a good way. I fear that you'll do something bad that you'll later regret." Lucifer sighed, "Don't worry about me. I'm the Devil, remember?" Lucifer turned around to step into the elevator and Carlos asked, "Good or bad?" Lucifer stopped, thinking about what Carlos said, and turned and said, "I don't know." Carlos sighed, "I hope good. I've had enough of bad in my life. I hope you won't be that." Lucifer nodded and went into the elevator.
Dude came up beside Carlos and asked, "Are you scared that he may become evil or something?" "Maybe," Carlos answered honestly. "I know Eve is trying to make my dad the Devil he once was. And that worries me."
Lucifer went up to the penthouse and called out for Eve as he put the doll down. "Hey," Lucifer turned to see Eve standing in the bedroom. Lucifer cleared his throat, "I got you something for us to enjoy together. Look, I know you are angry." "I'm not angry," Eve said as she walked up to Lucifer. "I mean, I was. But then I had a lot of time to think. And I realize I used to be just like you, with Adam. I wanted Adam to love me so badly that II devoted myself to becoming something I wasn't. In order to please him. I wanted to be Adam's ideal woman. But then I realized something. I was never going to be Adam's ideal woman, because, spoiler alert, I'm not Lilith. I am me. Yeah, I spent so much time trying to be whatever Adam wanted me to be that I never once stopped to think what I wanted, who I had been all along. Guess who helped me figure that out?" "If it's not me," Lucifer said. "This is a terrible story." Eve chuckled, "It was you. Lucifer, I was created from someone else's rib. I am literally a subset of another person. But you helped me realize that I can become my own person. You set me free. I just want to do the same for you. I see you pretending to be something that you're not. For Chloe. For Carlos. You don't have to. You're already perfect." Lucifer sighed, "You think I'm pretending to be something I'm not?" "Don't you?" Eve asked. "Are you good like you're pretending, or are you the big bad Devil that I know?"
Lucifer realized that she was saying something similar to what Carlos just told him. Was he good or bad? He put his hands in his pockets and felt a piece of paper and pulled it out. "What?" Eve asked. Lucifer looked and it and said, "I have to go. It's a break in the case. Sorry." He went to the elevator and left, leaving Eve standing there alone.
Back at LAPD, Chloe, Dan, and Ella were going over everything on the Tierning family. Chloe asked, "What's the son of a power broker like Jacob Tierning doing running his mother's hippy nudist retreat?" "Well," Ella answered. "According to Jacob's super unauthorized bio, Julian is the black sheep of the Tierning family. Out of control partying, multiple run-ins with the law. I mean this says Jacob cut him off years ago. Except for the fact that he keeps sending lawyers to clean up Julian's messes." Dan then asked, "What is any of this have to do with Gary? I mean, he wasn't auditing the nudist retreat or any of thee Tierning businesses, right? So then what motive could Julian possible had etc murder him?"
Lucifer then came in saying, "Step aside, Daniel, because I've just blown this case wide open." "No Carlos and dog this time?" Chloe asked. Lucifer shook his head, "No. But look at what I just found. This note in this pocket. And this is the suit that I wore, or, more accurately, didn't wear at the nudist colony. Someone must have put it there before I got my clothes back. Miss Lopez, do you remember a woman named Marigold?" Dan angrily said, "Seriously? For all we know, someone could have put it there at one of your latest sex parties." "Have you ever been to a sex party, Daniel?" Lucifer asked. "We don't need to pass notes to each other." The two men started to argue but Chloe interrupted, "Guys! Marigold wasn't a woman. It's one of Tierning's ships." Ella added, "And the Marigold docks in Saint Pedro tonight. That can't be a coincidence."
Carlos was still in the guest suite as he was abbot to go downstairs to play at Lux. "Well," Carlos said. "I'm going downstairs to the club. I'll be back later." "I thought you would want to hang out with your dad," Dude commented. Carlos sighed, "He is still hanging out with Eve. Plus, he said that he needs to think about what I said." Dude nodded and Carlos went down to the club. One of the security guards met him there and asked, "Hey, Carlos. I wanted to check to see if the update was happening for the security system tonight? I tried asking Mr. Morningstar, but he just left and he was in a hurry." "He left?" Carlos thought. Shaking his head, Carlos said, "Sure, I can take a look at it."
Over at the pier, Chloe and Lucifer were at another stakeout. Chloe looked over and asked, "You awake?" Lucifer chuckled, "Very funny, Detective." Chloe then asked, "So why didn't you bring Carlos this time?" Lucifer sighed, "I told Carlos to play tonight at Lux. He hasn't done so in a while. And we had a talk about some of his past and I need time to process it." "What to talk about it?" Chloe asked. Lucifer replied, "Maybe later." Chloe then said, "You know, we wouldn't have gotten this far without you. You did good, Lucifer." Lucifer sighed, "Do you think I'm different when I'm at work to when I'm not at work? Like good versus bad?" Chloe thought for a moment, "I think we are all a little different at work. You know, trying to put your best foot forward and so on. And good versus bad, yes you've done bad things in the past, but now you are trying to be a better person." Lucifer then asked, "But you think the person I'm trying to be at work is, I don't know, dishonest. Am I really trying to be a better person?" "Do you like work?" Chloe asked. "I do," Lucifer answered honestly. "I like work very much. Work makes me want to be a better man, but if I've never been that man before, then is it even real?" "Well," Chloe replied. "I mean, I think people are growing and changing all the time. I mean look at me. 15 years ago, I was naked in a hot tub." "Still one of my favorite films," Lucifer commented. 'The point is," Chloe continued. "I never pictured myself as a detective or a mom, or a person with so many sensible brown shoes. it just feels right. So, I think, if what you are doing and who you are at work feels right, then I think you know it's real. Like how you are with Carlos is real. You're trying to be a better person for him too."
They both chuckled, then they saw a van pull up next to the ship, Marigold. They saw two men get out and greet Julian on the ramp. Then Julian led down several women chained up. "So," Lucifer said. "Julian was using daddy's shipping company as what, slave transport." Chloe called into the walkie talkie, "Detective Decker requesting backup in what looks like a human trafficking situation." Chloe looked at Lucifer, "Gary must have found out somehow." Lucifer added, "And Julian killed him before Gary could expose the operation." "We can't let him get away," Chloe said. "We won't," Lucifer said as he and Chloe got out of the car.
Chloe pulled out her gun and shouted, "LAPD! Hands in the air!" Gunfire started up and Chloe and Lucifer took cover. Lucifer sneak forward and knocked one guy out as Chloe shot another in the leg. Backup arrived as Chloe shouted, "Lucifer, Julian is getting away!" Lucifer nodded and ran into the warehouse where Julian went.
Julian walked around the warehouse with his gun. Lucifer found him and knocked the gun out of his hand and held him up saying, "Julian, you're a slippery one, aren't you? But then again, most cockroaches are." He grabbed Julian and dragged him toward some power tools.
Officers ran up to Chloe and she said, "Hey, guys, listen up. I need you all to fan out and find McCaffrey. Now! Medics, we got victims over there, by the van. Go!"
Lucifer turned on the power saw and said, "You are not so cocky now, without daddy's lawyers around, are you? Tell me, does he know what you've been up to?" Julian shouted, "Do you think my dad is any better than me? He's a wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm in a fancy suit and a big smile, but at least I admit I'm a wolf. I mean, what kind of man pretends to be something he isn't?" Those last words Lucifer took to heart and used his strength to throw him across the room, "It's your lucky day. I decided to leave your punishment to the police." Julian then hit a button and several barrels dropped onto Lucifer. A female officer, Joan, arrived and shouted, "Freeze!" But Julian turned around and shot her dead. He ran off as Lucifer got himself out from under the barrels and ran up to Joan, shouting, "No!" Chloe and Dan found him cradling her body.
Julian got away and the coroner's took Joan's body away. Lucifer felt miserable, which was made worse when Dan came up to him and said, "I can't believe you let him go." "For once I agree with you," Lucifer replied. Dan decided to push his buttons, "You think you're helping Lucifer, but you're not. You're a wrecking ball and everything you touch turns to shit. First Charlotte, now Joan. When will you learn? You're not one of the good guys." Dan walked away, leaving Lucifer alone with his thoughts.
Eve was sitting at the bar at Lux sipping on some alcohol. She was in a fowl mood. She looked over and saw Carlos playing away on the piano. She scowled thinking, "That kid along with that detective are really making me miserable. I thought Lucifer would be mine again. But those two are making him something he's not." She looked up and saw Lucifer storming over to the elevator so Eve followed him.
Lucifer went up to his penthouse calling Maze to find Julian, "There's a house of their property. Got it. Thanks, Maze." Eve arrived and asked, "What happened?" Lucifer answered, "You may have been right about me. I tried to be something I wasn't and a very bad man got away, killed again. It was all my fault." "Sounds like it was the man's fault to me," Eve said. "Who is this guy anyway?" "Murderer," Lucifer answered. "Human trafficker, destroyer of lives, on the loose." Eve got an idea, as she wanted Lucifer to be who he used to be and prove Carlos wrong. So she said, "Well, you can't let him get away with that. He should be punished." "By m, you mean?" Lucifer asked. "Honestly, I'm not sure I have it in me anymore." "It's not true," Eve replied. "You will always have it in you. You're the Devil." Lucifer nodded as he stood up, "Yes, I am."
Down at the club, Remiel was still there with Amenadiel looking around at all the women to see if they were Lucifer's baby mama. "I don't think she's here," Remiel said. "I think you're stalling, aren't you? Don't tell me Lucifer's misplaced love of humans had rubbed off on you." "Of course not," Amenadiel lied. Remiel didn't buy it, "Yes, the never ending talk of free will while you were in the Silver City. Brother, you are the one who taught me that humans are inconsequential." Amenadiel stood up, "Well, I was wrong, Remy. They are living, breathing beings created by our Father." "And I promise you I won't hurt the children," Remiel replied. "Even if they are half human." "And what about the mothers?" Amenadiel asked. Remiel smiled, "I know we are not allowed to kill humans. So I'll be very careful where I cut." Amenadiel glared at Remiel, "You're not cutting anywhere." "You know this human, don't you, brother?" Remiel realized. "Are you protecting her?" "Yes, I am," Amenadiel answered. "I'm protecting here and I'm protecting my child." "Yours?" Remiel asked. "Interesting. But I know that you are not the father of the older child. I will find it."
While this was happening, Carlos was playing on the main floor when he saw Lucifer coming out of the elevator with Eve. Lucifer had a look in his eyes that he'd seen many times in his mother and other villains on the Isle of the Lost. "Something happened," Carlos realized. He stopped playing and used the ring to make himself unseen as he pulled out the magic mirror and whispered, "Mirror, mirror, shining in the night, show me what happened to Lucifer tonight?" The mirror showed him the stakeout at the pier, the confrontation between Lucifer and Julian, the shooting of the police officer and Lucifer cradling her body, and Dan telling him that he was not a good guy. Carlos felt worry rise in him and he made himself visible again. He stood up and walked toward the entrance to the club. People were in his way and Carlos said, "You all will get out of my way." The crowd parted and Carlos ran out of the club.
But he didn't notice that Remiel saw what happened. As she was confronting Amenadiel, she saw the boy make himself invisible and use his powers to make the crowd part for him. She smirked and thought to herself, "Looks like I found one of the celestial children."
Over at Linda's house, she was going through baby gifts and she came across the old box Maze gave her. Bracing herself, she opened the box and found a blanket. Mal suddenly appeared next to her and said, "It's a baby blanket. My mother, Lilith, let's just say she wasn't mom of the year. I was trying to think of something to give your baby. Something I would have wanted when I was small. Took me a while to figurer out what that was, but I guess this is it. Look, I know I'm not mom or partner or whatever. But I…" Linda then stood up and stopped her, "No. No you're not. Come here." She reached out her hand and Maze took it and they both sat down on the couch, "You are Auntie Maze. And you will always be a member of this family." Maze started to tear up and pulled Linda into a hug.
Meanwhile, Julian had arrived back at his house and started to pack a bag when he heard a noise behind him. He pulled out his gun and turned to see Lucifer sitting in a chair, lighting his cigarette. Julian sighed, "What is it with you? Gonna make me kill somebody else?" Lucifer smiled, "Well, how many is it, then? I mean, I know about Gary. And Joan. But what about the women you've been trafficking? How many of their lives have you taken? How many have you destroyed in service of your greed?" Lucifer had at this point stood up and walked over to Julian, who chuckled, "Those girls came from nothing. Starving in their villages. Sold by their relatives or stupid enough to believe that people are just handing out fresh newer lives here in America. They were broken dolls before they ever got on those ships."
Julian then fired 5 shots at Lucifer, but they did nothing to him. Julian stood there in shock, "Who are you?" Lucifer then revealed his devil face, "I've been wondering how to punish you, Julian. And now I know." He then kicked Julian through the window. Julian landed hard on the ground outside where Eve was waiting. Lucifer walked outside and put his foot on Julian so he wouldn't get away, "You asked what I am," Lucifer said. "I'm the devil. Yes. This feels just right." He then breaks Julian's back, with Julian screaming in pain.
"Stop!" Lucifer freezes and looks up to see Carlos standing nearby with anger and disgust all over his face, his eyes glowing red. Eve turned and shouted, "You! You are not a part of this. Go away." Carlos glared at Eve and said, "I am very much a part of this. I know that you edged him on. So why don't you leave us alone?" Suddenly, Eve went flying into one of the trees nearby, knocking her out. "Eve!" Lucifer shouted. "You had no right to do that." "Shut up!" Carlos shouted and Lucifer complied.
Carlos walked up to Lucifer and said, "I saw what happened at the pier. And what Dan said to you. And this is the path you take? You're letting Eve turn you back into the person you used to be? You choose to become the evil that everyone thinks you are? Unbelievable." Lucifer's eyes glowed red and he said, "They were right. Eve. Dan. Everybody. I am not a good man. I'm the devil. Evil incarnate. I punish those who do evil in this world. That's who I am." "No it's not!" Carlos argued back, his anger rising. Lucifer noticed that parts of Carlos' hair were starting to turn white, his anger breaking through the illusion spell, as Carlos continued, "You are more than the man you used to be. But I guess I was wrong. You let people like Dan, like Eve, get inside your head just as you were booming good and turned back to what you think your path is. You're becoming just like the people on the Isle. Evil. Wicked. I thought you would be different compared to them. But I guess I was wrong. You're right. You're the Devil. Just like my mother. A villain." Lucifer was shocked at what Carlos called him, but then Lucifer went flying back towards the house, Julian still on the ground in pain. Lucifer looked up and saw Carlos standing there with red eyes and parts of his hair white. Carlos walked back over to the vespa he rode over on and sped away, leaving Lucifer lying there torn in half between glee at being like his old self again and terror at what Carlos said and did.
Carlos returned to Lux and went straight up to the guest suite. Dude was waiting, but saw the state Carlos was in, "Carlos. What happened? Your hair is part white, part brown. And your eyes…" Carlos walked over to the mirror and saw what Dude was talking about. "I look like a monster," Carlos said. He tore off the ring and all of his hair turned white. His red eyes faded as he looked in the mirror and tears started to form. He went over to the bed and laid on it sobbing into the pillow. Dude walked over and jumped on the bed, trying to comfort Carlos. Carlos looked up and saw the feather box on his nightstand. He reached over and pulled out the angel feather. Seeing it made him cry more, "Why Dad? Why did you have to turn into a villain, like her? I thought you would be different. Is this my destiny? To become a monster like you? Because of what I am? I don't know what to do…" Carlos cried more as Dude moved to sit in his lap, both unsure of the future…
