Carlos was staring at the mirror in shock seeing that he had large angel wings on his back and was starting to freak out, "OK, what? I have angel wings? Well, I guess that makes sense based on my genes, but why now? Was it what that angel lady did to me? But how can I walk around with these? I…." Maze walked over and grabbed Carlos by the hair, yanking him towards her and making Carlos shout, "Ow! Really Maze?" "Chill out," Maze said. "I get that this is new to you, but you need to calm down. Take a deep breath." Carlos did just that as Amenadiel walked over and said, "Whatever Remy gave to you must have brought out your celestial side. She did mention that this side of you has been suppressed for a long time. Given that you are Lucifer's son. Care to explain that?" Carlos sighed and said, "I can explain, but can I ask a question first? Can you show me how to hide my wings? I know there is a way because Lucifer showed me his wings and I don't want to walk around like this. And I don't want to rely on magic to hide them."
Amenadiel nodded and unfurled his wings, "It's all about focus. Your wings are connected to the bones and muscles in your back and shoulders. Flex them a little bit." Carlos did just that and Amenadiel said, "Good. Now, I want you to fold your wings behind you and focus your mind on making them disappear behind your back." Carlos nodded, closed his eyes, folded his wings and they disappeared. Carlos opened his eyes and saw his reflection in the mirror and smiled, "It worked!" Amenadiel hid his wings and said, "Good. You are a fast learner." "OK," Maze said. "Can we talk about what's going on here? So Carlos, you are Lucifer's son? Since when?"
Carlos sighed and sat back down on the bed with Dude moving to his lap, "Yes, it's true. Lucifer is my dad. But Lucifer doesn't know. Like you guys didn't. I didn't know myself until almost a year ago." "You are from another dimension of Earth," Amenadiel replied. "That's what Remy mentioned. Is that true?" Carlos nodded, "Yes, I come from another place, or dimension of Earth as you call it. It's called Auradon, where magic is real and the fairy tales, myths, and legends people here read about? They're real." "But how could Lucifer go there?" Maze asked. "And make a baby without knowing it?" Amenadiel replied, "Remy did mention that Lucifer disappeared from Hell 18 years ago for about half a day then returned mysteriously. Do you remember that?" Maze thought for a moment then realized, "He did. The demons started to freak out because he didn't announce his departure like he did in the past. Then he returned and didn't tell anyone what happened or where he went. It was like he was unsure of what happened himself."
Amenadiel picked up Carlos' ring and asked, "You are using this to hid how you look. Why?" Carlos took the ring, "This is my mom's ring. The Ring of Envy. It has illusion magic in it. People around here don't look like I do so I use thee ring to make myself look normal. Since all my mom's magic was trapped in this ring when she was imprisoned on the Isle." "The Isle?" Maze asked. Carlos explained, "For about 21 years, all the villains of Auradon were gathered up by the royalty/heroes and sent to the Isle of the Lost, and Fairy Godmother created a barrier where no one could enter or escape. I was born there." "But then how could Lucifer get there?" Amenadiel asked. "Since this barrier was impenetrable?" Carlos sighed, "Somehow, my mother, using the last of her magic thanks to a crack in the barrier, opened a portal and Lucifer walked through it." "Who is your mother?" Maze asked. Carlos replied, "Look, I know you want answers. But I feel that the person who should know the important stuff first is Lucifer. I told you two enough for now. Just please don't tell him. About any of this." Maze sighed as Amenadiel said, "All right. We will respect your wishes. But we won't be patient for long. He has a right to know." "I understand," Carlos replied. "One last question though," Maze said. "Why can your dog talk?" Dude answered, "That's easy. I am just a normal dog, but then Carlos' friend Mal made a truth gummy and I ate it. So now I can talk." Maze hummed, "OK. Well, I'm off. I need to do some soul searching apparently." Maze left and Amenadiel said, "If you need anything, let me know. But I won't say anything to Lucifer until he knows. But the clock is ticking." Carlos nodded and Amenadiel saw the box with Lucifer's feather in it and said, "Use this. It will help with the healing process."
Carlos spent the next few days in bed as his body was still healing after what Remiel did to him and the back pain took the longest to go away. Carlos was surprised that Lucifer didn't come to see him, but Carlos used the mirror and saw that Lucifer was dealing with his own situation about his demon wings, which surprised Carlos as he didn't know wings could do that. So he just texted Lucifer saying that he was doing fine and was still healing. Carlos was still trying to figure out how to tell Lucifer the truth but it felt harder than it should have been.
Lucifer was trying to figure out the situation with his wings and brought in Dr. Arn, a doctor who owes him a favor, to the penthouse. Dr. Arn looked up at Lucifer and asked, "What's going on?" Lucifer replied, "You've been avoiding me, Dr. Arn, so I had to force a meeting." Dr. Arn stuttered, "Yeah, sorry about that. Work has been so crazy…" Lucifer interrupted, "Don't care. I granted you a favor. Now you owe me one. It's time to pay up. I need a medical consultation. If I was to tell you uI had a mole or two on my back perhaps you could reshape them, maybe jazz them up a bit?" "I'd have to see them first," Dr. Arn replied. Lucifer chuckled as he grabbed a piece of paper and said, "Not possible, I'm afraid, but I have visual aids." He held up the paper which was a sketch of a stick figure with wings. Dr. Arn asked, "Wait, you have moles that large on your back? You need to get them checked out, have them removed." Lucifer sighed, "But I tried removing them in the past, but the stubborn buggers always seem to grow back. I just need you to dress them up a smidge. Maybe you could attach some white feathers or tattoo them. Something cheery, flowers maybe." "Tattoo your moles?" Dr. Arn asked. "I was thinking maybe I could get you a discount on some botox, but…" Lucifer threw down the paper and held Dr. Arn up, "I don't need botox, doctor! What I need is for you to fix them, because they are disgusting!" "Please don't hurt me," Dr. Arn whined.
The elevator doors opened and Amenadiel walked out, "Lucifer, what's going on?" Lucifer sighed, "God, I need to ask Carlos to put a lock on that elevator or program something like he did to keep certain people out. Useless, doctor. Get out of my sight." Dr. Arn ran to the elevator and left. Amenadiel asked, "Lucy, what were you doing to him?" "Nothing," Lucifer lied. Lucifer turned and saw a cut on Amenadiel's cheek from his fight with Remiel, "What happened there, brother? Hit another bridge whilst flying?" Amenadiel sighed, "That happened one time, Lucy. And no, I got into a fight with Remy." That caught Lucifer's attention, "Remy was here? Wait, was she the one who hurt Carlos?" Amenadiel nodded, "She was angry. She wanted to take Linda's baby, my child, back to the Silver City with her. The argument escalated. Of course, I was victorious and now the child will be raised here on Earth." "But what about Carlos?" Lucifer asked. "What did Remy want with him?" Amenadiel asked, "Has Carlos said anything?" Lucifer shook his head so Amenadiel said carefully, "Remy could sense the power Carlos had. She said it didn't feel right to have him here so she wanted him gone too. I stopped her attack on Carlos before it escalated. But not before she did something to him. I've been checking on him for the past few days and he's recovering nicely." "Of course he is," Lucifer said. "I've been texting with him as I've been letting him rest while I've been dealing with my own issues." Amenadiel sighed, knowing that Carlos hasn't told Lucifer yet.
So he instead said, "There's actually another reason why I'm here. I have a favor to ask you. Apparently there is a tradition here on Earth to ask someone to be a back-up parent in case something happens to the child's real parents." Lucifer looked at Amenadiel and asked, "Are you seriously asking me, evil incarnate, to be the child's godfather? The irony." Amenadiel sighed, "Well, Lucy, this birth is imminent. And I still don't know how to be a father. How am I suppose to prepare?" Lucifer chuckled, "Well, I would have thought it patently obvious by now. I'm the last person to come to for fatherly advice. But if you really want to know how humans raise their children, maybe you should, I don't know, ask them." Amenadiel realized, "That's actually not bad advice." Lucifer continued, "And as for being the child's godfather, trust me, brother, the biggest favor I can do you and the child is to stay as far away as possible." Amenadiel sighed, turned to leave, then said, "I think you're wrong about that. I've seen the connection you have with Carlos. Maybe you are more parent material than you think." Lucifer stood there in shock as Amenadiel left, leaving Lucifer to think about what he said.
Lucifer got a call the next morning about a new case and Lucifer was about to leave when Carlos, with Dude by his side, stopped him in the elevator, "Hey, Lucifer." "Carlos!" Lucifer smiled. "I am glad to see you are doing much better. No more pain?" Carlos shook his head, "Nope, good as new. Mostly." Lucifer chuckled as Carlos continued, "Amenadiel's advice about using your angel feather helped. Since the potion I had could only do so much with me." Lucifer looked at Carlos, "My feather? You still have it? It still works?" Carlos nodded, "Yes, it does. Even though your wings changed doesn't mean a feather from a while ago won't go bad." Lucifer looked at him shocked, then realized, "You've been spying on my with that mirror of yours?" Carlos nodded and Lucifer asked, "How did you get that mirror anyways?" The elevator got to the main floor as Carlos answered, "It belongs to my friend, Evie. The mirror is her mom's. You may know her as the Evil Queen." "The Evil Queen?" Lucifer asked. "So this magical place you're from has fairy tale characters in it?" Carlos nodded, "And people from your myths and legends. Like Hades. He's kind of the equivalent of you." "Oh please," Lucifer retorted. "Hades is nothing like me. I'm better." Carlos chuckled, "Indeed you are. Even though I'm friends with his daughter, Mal. Who is also Maleficent's daughter. She's the one who made me that potion I used on you during the bomb incident."
"Very interesting," Lucifer commented. "So were these the evil people you mentioned growing up around?" Carlos nodded, "Yep, on the Isle of the Lost." "The Isle of the Lost?" Lucifer asked, flashes of memory coming back to him as he remembered appearing in an old house on an island and a woman was there, but then the memory ended. "You OK?" Carlos asked. Lucifer nodded quickly, "Yes, I'm fine. But I need to go. New case." "Can I come?" Carlos asked. Lucifer sighed, "Oh, all right. Besides, I have more questions to ask you. Starting with that dog of yours." "Happy to help," Dude finally talked. Lucifer sighed, "This is going to be interesting." Lucifer walked toward his car and Carlos looked back at Dude, who nodded his head for reassurance, and Carlos ran after Lucifer, Dude running behind him.
The crime scene was at a high school and the victim was a teacher. Ella was already doing her work when Dan walked into the locker room where the murder happened, "Hey, Ella." Ella turned around, "Oh, hey Dan." "So what's up?" Dan asked. "Nothing," Ella replied. "Crime scene stuff." "Cool," Dan said, the two acting really awkward around each other. Ella said with Dan following, "So about the other…" "Yeah, I wanted to…" "Me too." "It was…" "Totally…" "But, you know…." "Working together." "Crossing lines." "Bodies crossing." "Yeah, maybe we shouldn't." "No, we shouldn't." "Cool." "Cool." They were silent for a minute, then Ella said, "I'm so glad we could talk about this like adults." Dan nodded and he tried to walk past Ella, but they bumped into each other before going their own way.
Chloe walked into the school thinking about the prophecy Kinley told her, "When the Devil walks the Earth and finds his first love and heir, evil shall be released." Chloe saw Lucifer and Carlos, and Dude, walk up to her, and heard Lucifer say, "Tourney? That's what you call that sport?" and Carlos chuckling, "Yea, I know, it's not like sports here", and Chloe stared at Carlos thinking, "I can see the resemblance now." Lucifer noticed something wrong and asked, "Everything alright, Detective? Did I do something wrong, per usual? Perhaps I should check myself into detention whilst I'm here. Permanently." Chloe shook her head, "No. Everything's fine. Hey, Carlos. I see you made up with Lucifer." "Indeed I did," Carlos said, as he was in a happy mood, even though he didn't tell Lucifer yet and just talked about different things about Auradon instead. But he found it weird that Chloe was looking at him weirdly.
The trio walked into the locker room, Dude whimpering a little at the sight of the victim, and Chloe said, "Hey, guys." Ella and Dan were standing nearby and Ella said, "Oh, hey, Lucifer. And Carlos. I haven't seen you in ages." She ran over and gave Carlos a hug, who returned it. Ella pulled back and greeted Chloe, "Hey, Dan's ex-wife. I mean Chloe." Carlos knew something was up between the two and Dan asked, "Another person involved in a case, Lucifer?" Chloe interrupted, "Dan, it's fine. Carlos has helped in the past. I am allowing it. Now, what do we have?" Ella replied, "This is Sandra Baez…" "The victim is…" Dan said at the same time. He and Ella both said, "She was 32 years old, and a history teacher." Lucifer stared at the two, "Whatever's happening here is undoubtedly somehow my fault." Dan mumbled something, but Ella said, "Nothing. We're all good." "Totally cool," Dan replied. "In fact, the janitor, he's the guy who found the body, claims that Ms. Baez, every morning, jogs the track, showers, and then see heads to class." Ella added, "And apparently someone amused her as she was getting dressed." "And do we have a cause of death?" Chloe asked. Ella answered, "Cause of death is a blunt force trauma to the head." Dan added, "It turns out that Ms. Baez was a faculty adviser to YEA." Ella explained, "Uh, YEA is Youth Academy of American Entrepreneurs. The club meet last night, so probably the last people to see her alive." Lucifer nodded, "Right, thank you."
Chloe turned to Lucifer and whispered, "Lucifer. Can I talk to you? Alone? Right now." Lucifer turned to Carlos, who said, "OK. I'll just take Dude outside for some fresh air." Carlos left the locker room and Chloe took Lucifer to the front hall, "OK, well, I need to tell you something." Lucifer nodded, "I'm all ears. Or horns, rather." Chloe sighed, "I went to see Father Kinley." Lucifer replied, "Did you now? Conjuring up more ways to snd me back to hell, are we?" Chloe shook her head, "Father Kinley had been asking to see me, so I finally went and he told me about a prophecy." Lucifer laughed, "Right. What is it this time? Are frogs about to start falling from the sky or perhaps winter is coming." Chloe replied, "All of this celestial stuff, it is new to me. I don't know what is good and bad, what is real and fake. But what he said, it scared me." Lucifer sighed, "Well, come on then, Detective. What did he say?"
Chloe recited, "When the Devil walks the Earth and finds his first love and heir, evil shall be released." Lucifer tilted his head, "Well, this is wonderful news." "It sounds kind of bad," Chloe said. "Oh, it's bad," Lucifer replied. "It's bad, but it explains why I'm changing." "Listen," Chloe said. "If this prophecy were to actually come true, what then? Would there be demons running around?" Lucifer shook his head, "Nothing of the sort. But let's not get bogged down in specifics, because none of that will matter if I can stop the prophecy altogether." "How?" Chloe asked. "Well," Lucifer answered, "Clearly the first part, when the Devil walks the Earth, has happened, because hell, here is me, walking the Earth. And since Eve was my first girlfriend, then she's…" "Your first love," Chloe realized. "Exactly," Lucifer replied. "So to stop evil being released, all I need to do is, drum roll, please, break up with Eve!" Chloe was confused, "Well, wait. What about the heir?" Lucifer chuckled, "That's easy. I don't have an heir. Celestials can't have children. Well, Amenadiel is now the exception because he was mortal for a bit, but I never was." "Never?" Chloe asked. "Even for a short moment?" Lucifer was about to retort, then another flash of memory came to him where he was intimate with a mystery woman. The flash ended and Lucifer shook his head, "Nope. I don't have a kid. It's literally impossible." Chloe knew that Lucifer was lying, but she thought, "Maybe he doesn't know. About Carlos."
Speaking of which, Carlos had watched the conversation on the mirror and was now pacing back and forth outside with Dude whispering, "Calm down, Carlos. Surely that prophecy was phony." "It didn't sound phony," Carlos replied. "I can't tell him. I can't be here. Me being here will result in evil being released. I can't let that happen. And I grew up around it. I've experienced it. Took down villains who were full of it. This is not good." Dude said, "Carlos, you don't know if this is real. It could be just something that a priest made up." "But Lucifer thinks it's real," Carlos argued. "He wants to break up with Eve, which I am all for, to stop this from happening. And he still thinks that he doesn't have kids. He'll freak out if I tell him." "You don't know that," Dude replied. Carlos kept pacing, "I don't know what to do. Should I tell him? Maybe I shouldn't. Maybe I can just have him keep believing that I am a kid from another dimension here to ask him for help. That should work." "What should work?" Lucifer asked as he walked over. Carlos quickly put on a poker face and said, "The update to the security system back at Lux. You mentioned that you wanted to make sure certain people won't get in. So I can upgrade the system to do that." Dude put his paw to his face as Lucifer said, "OK. Well, I am heading back to Lux anyway. I need to break up with Eve so that I can get my angel wings back and stop this silly prophecy from happening." "What?" Carlos asked.
Lucifer drove them back to Lux as he explained the prophecy. Carlos pretended to not know about it. When they arrived back, Carlos ran up to the guest suite while Lucifer went up to the penthouse where Eve was waiting. "Hey, Lucifer," Eve greeted. "I've been waiting for you." Lucifer sighed, "Eve, sit. I need to tell you something." Then he went on about what happened and about the prophecy, "So there you have it. I mean, usually these prophecies turn out to be gobbledegook, but this one seems legit. So…" Eve gasped, "Wow. I had a feeling, or maybe I just knew all along." "Knew what?" Lucifer asked. "That you love me!" Eve shouted. Lucifer was stunned, "Right. And how exactly did you end up there?" "The prophecy, silly," Eve answered. "I mean, if you believe it to be true then, when the Devil walks the Earth and meets his first love and heir, means you consider me to be your first love. Ergo you love me. And as for the heir, we will soon have a baby that will be your heir." She kissed Lucifer and then said, "Oh, my God! I can't believe you said it first. I've been dying to say it for so long." "Have you?" Lucifer asked. "Interesting you should focus on that part of the prophecy, when evil being released really is the relevant part. And I don't think you're going to have a baby, I can't make children as a celestial. And much as I hate to say this, I think it means that we need to, you know, break up."
Eve sobered up, "No. Lucifer, I know what you're doing." "Do you?" Lucifer asked. "Yes. You're scared. Because you've been hurt before. You don't have to worry, OK? I promise you that I will never, ever, ever give up on you. You know why?" "Surprise me," Lucifer replied. "Because I love you too," Eve said. "And I am the first woman of Earth. I was able to return to my old bones from Heaven. I think we can make a baby." She bopped his nose and giggled, running into the bedroom shouting, "Let's start trying now!" Lucifer sighed, "Shit."
The next morning, Lucifer, Chloe, and Carlos returned to the high school to conduct interviews. Lucifer could tell that something was up with Carlos as the boy seemed to clam up whenever Lucifer was talking about the prophecy and whenever Lucifer asked about his home, Carlos' answers were short. Lucifer sighed to himself as Carlos seemed very forthcoming the day before and now he's being secretive again. Lucifer tried asking Dude, but Lucifer suspects that Carlos ordered the dog not to tell him anything. Lucifer knew that he needed to talk with Carlos, but now was not the time. Especially when Eve would not break up with him.
The trio, along with Dude as that dog never seemed to leave Carlos' side, arrived back at the school and started their interviews with Lexy Shaw. Carlos stood off to the side as he wasn't aloud to interfere with interviews, but he still listened in. "Thank you for speaking with us, Ms. Shaw," Chloe said. Lexy smiled, "Please, call me Lexy. Anything to help find the person who did this." Carlos seemed a little put off by this as Chloe said, "We're speaking to everybody in the YEA club, because you all were the last to see Ms. Baez last night. Did you notice anything out of the ordinary with her?" Lexy shook her head, "No. She was her normal, cheery self. Ms. Baez was awesome. She did so much for me. She was also the SAT prep administrator, so helped me get into my first choice. It was Harvard. She's also just so good at giving advice on anything. School, parents, relationships." "Relationships?" Lucifer asked. "What advice would Ms. Baez give to, say, a student in a relationship who, I don't know, needed to break up with someone?" Chloe rolled her eyes, Carlos giggled, and Lexy said, "Oh, well, I wouldn't know. My boyfriend and I are super-solid. We'll probably get married. After we both finish college. At Harvard." Carlos was getting serious Audrey vibes from this girl. Chloe asked, "Do you know anyone who may want to hurt Ms. Baez?" Lexy thought for a moment, "Not really. Well, unless, have you spoken to Caleb Mayfield?" "No, why?" Chloe asked. Lexy answered, "Ms. Baez was particularly talented at giving advice to the more troubled students. Like him." She pointed to Carlos, who said, "Hey! Watch it, princess!" Lucifer walked over and calmed Carlos down while Chloe said, "OK, thank you. That will be all."
The trio found Caleb with the gold team and asked Caleb about Ms. Baez and he said, "Nah, I didn't really know Ms. Baez that well. To be honest, I was thinking about quitting YEA altogether." "You were going to break up with the entire club," Lucifer said. "How does one specifically say nay to YEA?" Chloe sighed, "Could we just stay focused, Lucifer?" Caleb looked up, "Lucifer? As in the club owner who grants favors?" "You've heard of the favors?" Chloe asked. Caleb nodded, "Some people I hang around with, they may have mentioned it." Lucifer nodded, "Well, granting favors is much lower on my resume these days than releasing death and destruction upon the world." Carlos gulped as Chloe asked, "So you didn't spend much time with Ms. Baez?" "Not really," Caleb answered. "Did you guys talk to Nate Benedict? He was fighting with her." Carlos looked at Caleb and felt similarities between Caleb and himself. Someone who clearly was on the wrong side and wanted to get on the right. When Lucifer and Chloe walked away, Carlos went up to Caleb and whispered, "I'm sure Lucifer would grant you a favor." "Really?" Caleb asked. Carlos nodded, "I myself was someone who was on the wrong side and was granted a chance to the good side." Caleb was shocked, "How did you know?" Carlos shrugged, "I can tell. You remind me of my friend, Jay. But I think you can become good." Carlos smiled and walked away with Dude, leaving Caleb speechless.
The trio found Nate and Chloe asked about Ms. Baez and the fight and Nate answered, "We had, you know, words." "What were you fighting about?" Chloe asked. Nate answered, "Well, I was pissed because she was sleeping with my dad." "Ms. Baez was having an affair with your father?" Lucifer asked. Nate answered, "My parents are separated, and they totally could have fixed things, but Ms. Baez was standing in the way, so hell yeah, I was angry. But not enough to kill her." "And where were you yesterday morning?" Chloe asked. "At my girlfriend Lexy's place," Nate answered. "My dad said he had some things he needed to take care of, he needed me out of the house all night." Carlos was seriously getting some Chad vibes from this kid. Chloe sighed, "We'll have to speak with your dad to confirm your story. And his. Thank you." Chloe walked away, but Lucifer said, "Your parents' marriage failed. What exactly was the final nail in the coffin of their relationship?" Nate answered, "Weirdly enough, things got really bad after they went to couple's therapy." "Therapy, of course," Lucifer whispered as Carlos walked up and dragged Lucifer away.
Later, Amenadiel was at Lux asking people if they were parents or how their relationship was with their parents, but no one took him seriously. He also wanted to check on Carlos, but the boy wasn't there. He turned and saw another boy, Caleb walk in and Caleb went up to Amenadiel, "Hey, do you know where I could find Lucifer Morningstar? The kid that was with him and the detective today told me that he might help me." Amenadiel shook his head, "He's not here right now. What do you need from Lucifer?" Caleb sighed, "Just a favor. Thanks." He turned to walk away but Amenadiel stopped him, "Whoa, hold up. Maybe I can help. I'm Amenadiel, Lucifer's brother." "For real?" Caleb asked. "As God as my witness," Amenadiel answered. Cale introduced himself, "I'm Caleb." Amenadiel asked, "So what's the problem, Caleb?" Caleb opened his backpack, "This. Xanax and Adderall." "Where did you get all these drugs from?" Amenadiel asked. "A dealer," Caleb answered. "His name's Tahir. He asked me to sell it at school. I did once. I'm just trying not to do it no more. Problem is, he said if I don't, he'll mess me up bad. I was hoping maybe Lucifer could buy them off me. Just take them off my hands. Could you?" Amenadiel sighed, "Listen, even if I did, that wouldn't solve your problem. It sounds like this Tahir would just, your know, make you sell more." "What am I supposed to do?" Caleb asked. "I just want out." Amenadiel sighed, and realized that he needed to help this kid.
Lucifer had taken Carlos back to Lux for a bit while Chloe went back to LAPD as Ella needed to see her, "Hey, Ella, you wanted to see me?" Ella nodded, "Yes, Sandra Baez's autopsy report just came in." "Great," Chloe replied. "I'll go get Dan and we can go over it together." "No!" Ella shouted, then calmly said, "Don't. I'll just tell you what it says and then you can tell Dan. Because, you know, you probably see him all the time, like when you're handing off Trixie, the child you made together when you were married together." "OK," Chloe replied, feeling confused. "So, what does it say?" "Contusions," Ella answered. "Two of them on the victim's skull. Unusually shaped, so it appears that the murder weapon is a golf club. A driver, to be exact." "Got it," Chloe replied. "I'll tell Dan that we need to search warrant for the golf lockers." Chloe left as Ella heard the phone ring and she went to answer it, "Forensics. Yeah, I worked the Tierning case. I'm sorry, where did you say you were calling from?"
Over at Lux, Carlos was sitting in the guest suite thinking about what to do, "Lucifer's gone off to one of this therapy sessions, taking Eve with him. While he's away, I need to think about this." "Carlos," Dude sighed, "We've talked about this. We don't know if this prophecy is real. You worrying about it isn't going to make it go away." "I should worry about it," Carlos argued. "I could be the reason that evil will be unleashed. Sure I'm a VK but not like I used to be. Besides, evil from Hell sounds bad." "Carlos," Dude said. "Do you want a relationship with your dad?" "Well, yeah," Carlos replied. "Do you want his help?" Dude asked. Carlos nodded and Dude said, "Then just focus on that. Since clearly your dad is freaking out about this prophecy, maybe you can be there for him, help him calm down, and when he loses interest in this prophecy, you can tell him that you're his son." "No!" Carlos shouted. "I am not doing that." "Fine," Dude sighed. "But you are not backing out of this. You told me that you realized that Lucifer needs you like you need him. You can still be there for him. And eventually you are going to need to man up and tell him." Carlos sighed and flopped onto the bed, "Fine. But I am not telling him anything until this prophecy thing is resolved. Maybe I can focus on getting Eve away from my dad. Since she's definitely a bad influence on him."
Lucifer and Eve were sitting in Linda's office and Lucifer said, "I recently learned, doctor, that counseling is a good way to help relationships grow, evolve, and then reach their final destination." Linda nodded, "Yes, it can be. In the right circumstance." Eve smiled, "Linda, I'm so happy to finally meet you. And being here in this room, it's kind of like being inside Lucifer's mind." Lucifer chuckled, "Scary thought." Linda sighed, "Yes, well, I'm very happy to meet you too, Eve. Wow. You're the first woman ever. It's like meeting a dinosaur. Not that you look old. I mean, it's like you're my great, great, great, whatever. Never mind. What can I do for you guys?"
Lucifer answered, "I think, if you looked up "perfect relationship" in the dictionary, you might just see a photo of myself and Eve. But complacency is the enemy of excellence, so I thought it wise to get your expert perspective on our wonderful kinship." Linda stared at the two, "I'm guessing this isn't going to end well. Please tell me about this wonderful relationship of yours." Lucifer replied, "Well, I'd say that we are impulsive. I mean, wee often text whilst driving. We moved in together after one day. Also we consume an unfathomable amount of drugs and alcohol, and regularly invite strangers into our bedroom." "It's true," Eve agreed. Lucifer continued, "Did I mention that Eve has just come out of a long term relationship? So, what say you, doctor?" Linda sighed, "Yes, well, while you claim to be happy, I'm sensing a hidden trepidation by the words that you're using to describe your relationship. In fact, I'm concerned that you're returning to a familiar pattern of…" "Denial," Eve finished. Linda stared at Eve, "That's exactly what I was going to say." Eve then asked, "Don't you just hate it when he takes the exact wrong message from every single conversation?" "Oh, my God!" Linda replied. "Every single time!" "Right," Lucifer said. "Why don't we get back on track?" But Linda said, "How have we not met?" "I don't know," Eve replied while Lucifer tried to say, "Right, there's a prophecy…" Eve chuckled, "Now he's just deflecting." "I couldn't have said it better myself," Linda said while laughing. "You know, Lucifer has a tendency to project his issues onto external sources when what he really needs to do is face his issues head on." Eve nodded in agreement as Lucifer sighed.
Meanwhile, Caleb took Amenadiel to the neighborhood where his drug dealer was, "You sure you know what you're doing?" Amenadiel nodded, "Caleb, I'm the Silver City's greatest warrior. There's no need to worry. Tell me something. How did you get involved in this business in the first place?" Caleb explained, "I met Tahir and his boys at a club. He seemed cool, so I start handing out with them. Then one day, Tahir offered me a way to make some extra cash." "Why didn't you just say no?" Amenadiel asked. Caleb sighed, "Tahir's not really the kind of guy you say no to." Amenadiel replied, "I'm pretty sure I can reason with this Tahir, convince him to let you off the hook. And then, maybe, after, we can go and get some ice cream together." Caleb wasn't so sure.
The two approached Tahir, who said, "Ha! My man, Caleb. What's good, man? Oh, you need bodyguards now? What's wrong? The white kids at school loving them beans a little bit too much?" Amenadiel answered for him, "Actually, Caleb won't e selling them beans anymore. You see, he no longer wishes to be a part of your illegal drug operation." Tahir signaled for one of his goons to intimidate Amenadiel, but the angel just crushed the thug's hand and took the backpack from Caleb and shoved it to Tahir, "Caleb is out. His obligation is done." Tahir chuckled, "This dude right here means business. But it don't work like that. You see, I've got expenses, and he needs to pay me out, one way or another." "Alright, fine," Amenadiel replied. 'I'll be the one to come back and pay for those drugs." Tahir shook his head, "Uh-oh, hold on, man. The honor code's broken right now. You'll have to leave me some kind of collateral. What about the kid?" "That's never going to happen, Tahir," Amenadiel coldly replied. Tahir looked at Amenadiel's necklace, "What about that bling around your neck?" Amenadiel replied, "This bling is a gift from my father, Tahir. It's priceless." Tahir chuckled, "That's good. That means you'll be highly motivated to come back with my money." Amenadiel sighed, took over his necklace, and handed it to Tahir saying, "I will be coming back for that." Amenadiel turned to walk away when Tahir said, "Know this, Caleb. If anything blow back on me, I blow back on y'all. You feel me?" Amenadiel chuckled and led Caleb away.
Chloe and Lucifer were at LAPD, Carlos stayed behind at Lux, and they were interviewing Nate's dad, who said, "I can't believe she's gone. Ms. Baez was a great mentor to Nate." Chloe said, "Nate said that you asked him to be out of the house last night. What was it you needed to take care of?" "Work stuff," Nate's dad lied. Lucifer didn't buy it, "Work stuff? Like murdering a beloved teacher?" Nate's dad replied, "You think I killed her? That's insane." Chloe asked, "Is it? You were sleeping with her." Nate's dad replied, "Yes, we were having an affair, but that's over. Broke if off last week." Lucifer asked, "You didn't have to kill her to break up with her, did you?" Nate's dad scoffed, "Of course not! It was mutual. In fact, I already started seeing somebody else." Chloe asked, "So you were having an affair on your affair?" Nate's dad sighed, "Not exactly. I started seeing my ex, Emma. We had gone to counseling. It was rough at first, but ultimately it helped bring us back together." "Now you tell me!" Lucifer interrupted.
Chloe shook her head at Lucifer while Nate's dad continued, "Last night I was with Emma. We didn't want to tell Nate, we didn't want to mess with his head. He had taken our break up really hard, but he's doing so great lately. He's seeing Lexy, great girl. Crushed his SATs, he got into Harvard. We didn't want to rattle him until we knew it was permanent." Chloe replied, "I'll need your ex-wife's information." Lucifer then leaned forward, "Er, why did you and your wife break up in the first place?" Nate's dad sighed, "I suppose I was the cliche bad husband. Infidelity, selfishness, neglect. In hindsight, I gave Emma, no option but to break up with me." Lucifer smiled, "Cliche bad husband, I see."
Lucifer went back to Lux and found Carlos in the guest suite, "Carlos!" Carlos came out of the bedroom quickly, "D-Lucifer. You came back quick. Did the interview go OK?" "Indeed it did," Lucifer said. "Now, I remember that you told me that Eve was not a good influence on me." "Ah, yeah," Carlos agreed. "So," Lucifer continued. "I want to break up with Eve, so I am going to be a bad boyfriend so that she'll break up with me. And you are going to help me." "I am?" Carlos asked. Lucifer nodded, "Yes. You have a girlfriend. So you can show me what to do in order to get Eve to hate me." "Ah, ok," Carlos said. "And why do you want to break ups with Eve again?" "To stop the prophecy," Lucifer said. "Since she's my first love and now she wants to have a baby since that's what she got from the heir part…" "What?" Carlos shouted. "So," Lucifer continued. "Breaking up with her will make sure that the prophecy won't happen." Carlos looked over at Dude, who put his paw to his face. Carlos sighed, "OK, I'll help you. Since I don't like Eve. What do you want to do?"
They first got together a fantasy football league and Eve walked into the penthouse and saw Lucifer surrounded by drunk football fans and Carlos going over the football schedule. Eve said, "Er, Lucifer. I thought we had plans." Lucifer shrugged, "Nah, sorry. Meeting up with my fantasy league. Plus, I am teaching Carlos all about football, since he doesn't know what football is." "It's true," Carlos added, smirking at Eve, who scowled.
Lucifer and Carlos tried several other things, watching movies late at night while making a huge mess with food and drinks, Lucifer went down to the club and started to make out with several women, which Carlos just sat on the piano and played his music, and the two played video games which Carlos enjoyed as he liked that he was spending time with his dad. But Eve, instead of being annoyed, sat down with the two of them and played their video games, watched their movies with junk food, and made out with women. The two walked back up after Carlos finished playing his setlist to Eve with the fantasy football league, drinking beers with them. "I don't think your plan worked," Carlos whispered.
Lucifer sighed as his phone went off and Lucifer answered, "Detective. How can I help?" Chloe said on the other end, "We know who the killer is. Meet me at the precinct." Lucifer hung up and Carlos asked, "What's up?" "The case," Lucifer answered. "Want to come with?" Carlos nodded as Lucifer called out, "Eve. I have to go." Eve ran over, "Hey, are you sure you can't stay a little longer? We have quest!" "It's work," Lucifer explained. He walked over to the elevator and Carlos went to follow, but Eve grabbed his arm and whispered, "Don't think I don't know what's going on. You're trying to get him away from me. Well it won't work." Carlos sighed, "You're trying to fight a battle that you can't win. Lucifer is and never will be yours. Prophecy or not." "What about you?" Eve asked. "You want to take my place in Lucifer's life and be that person for him?" Carlos' eyes soften, which surprised Eve, and Carlos replied, "Only if he wants me to be. Now let me go." Eve obeyed and Carlos went into the elevator with Lucifer.
On the way to the car, Lucifer asked, "Are you OK?" Carlos said, "Sure, why?" Lucifer sighed, "Because ever since this prophecy came up, you've clammed up a little. Sure we are still spending time together, but I am getting the feeling that you are not telling me something. Like you're scared to." "Me?" Carlos said. "Nope. I'm good." Lucifer continued, "And Eve seemed really upset with you and you reacted a little harshly. Are you sure…" "I'm fine," Carlos said. "I just….I am just looking out for you. I want to help you. And I want to spend time with you. Is that too much to ask?" Lucifer sighed, "Indeed not." But Lucifer still felt like Carlos wanted to tell him something, but was too afraid to now.
Meanwhile, Amenadiel and Caleb were walking around after getting ice cream and Caleb said, "Yo, did you see the look on their face when you busted up homeboy's hand?" Amenadiel replied, "I told you I've got skills, young buck." Caleb chuckled, "My bad. I'll never doubt you again." Amenadiel sighed, "See, I knew that you were smart. Which does make me wonder, Caleb, why would you even want to be friends with those guys? I mean, you must have lots of friends back at school." Caleb sighed, "Yeah, but I don't really fit in with the rich, white crowd. Even that kid with the police could tell." "Carlos?" Amenadiel asked. "Sure, he never told me his name," Caleb answered. "Anyway, Tahir and his boys, they look like me. They let me be me. I mean, if I knew what they was into in the beginning, maybe I would have found a newer crew to hang with. It's just kind of hard finding your own kind. Your own people, you know? I've got a question for you. Why are you even helping me?" Amenadiel replied, "I have a son on the way. And I've been worried if I'm going to be a good father." "So," Caleb asked. "What? I'm like a test run for you? Just kidding. I was just playing, man. I'm cool with it."
Suddenly they heard a police car pull up and a police officer got out, "Are you Caleb Mayfield? II said are you Caleb Mayfield?" Another officer got out as Amenadiel answered, 'Yes, this is Caleb, officer. What's the problem?" Officer #2 answered, "We've got a warrant out for his arrest. He's wanted for murder." "Murder?" Amenadiel replied. "No. No, that can't be right." Officer #1 shouted, "Down on the ground, hands on your head. Listen, punk, I said down on the ground, hands on your head." The officer pushed Caleb to the ground and held him there as Amenadiel shouted, "Hey! You're hurting him." Officer #2 said, "Sir, stop right there, put your hands up." Amenadiel started to argue, but then the officer pulled out his gun and Amenadiel asked, "Why are you pointing your gun at me? I've done absolutely nothing wrong." "Put your hands on your head now!" Officer #2 shouted. Officer #1 put handcuffs on Caleb as Amenadiel said, "Look, you guys are making a big mistake, alright? Now I have friends in the LAPD. Just let me call them. You're hurting him!" Officer #2 shouted, "I'll tell you one last time, asshole. Put your hands up!" "I'm not putting my hands above my head!" Amenadiel shouted. "Don't make me shoot you," Officer #2 shouted.
Suddenly Dan ran up and shouted, "Stand down! He's my friend! He's a friend." The officer backed off while the other officer took Caleb to the police car. Dan asked, "Are you OK?" Amenadiel stood there in silence.
Dan gave Amenadiel a ride back to the police station and when they got there, he explained, "A golf club, with Caleb's prints and the victim's blood was found in his locker. Caleb was known to sell drugs, so the working theory is that Ms. Baez found out, threatened to turn him in, so he killed her." Amenadiel shook his head, "No, Dan. Caleb is not a killer." "OK," Dan replied. "But the kid looks guilty." Amenadiel asked, "What exactly does "looks guilty" even mean, Dan? Are you talking about the color of his skin? By the way he holds himself?" Dan sighed, "He's guilty given all the evidence against him, man. Come on, how dare you? Are you OK? I know it's not fun to have guns pointed at you." "Why wouldn't those officers listen to me?" Amenadiel asked. "I tried to talk to them, reason with them, but they wouldn't listen. It's like they'd already made up their minds." Dan sighed, "Those two cowboy hotheads are way out of line. I'm filing an excessive force complaint against them as soon as all of this is over." Amenadiel stared at Dan, "And what changes will come as a result of your complaint?" Dan sighed, "Probably nothing."
Ella then came over and said, "Hey, Dan, can I talk to you for a second?" Dan nodded and followed Ella, while Amenadiel stood there, hurt. Ella took Dan to an evidence room and said, "So, I'm not really sure how to say this, but…" "Hold on a second," Dan interrupted. "I thought that we were on the same page about us." "This is about the Tierning case," Ella replied. "Right," Dan said. "I'm sorry. What about it?" Ella explained, "To close the case, due diligence interviews were done by the detective pool. Someone told them that it might've been a cop who came to Jacob Tierning and told him that it was Lucifer himself who broke his son's back." "It's an outrageous claim," Dan lied. Ella sighed, "I know! But what if it's true? Someone might have it out for Lucifer. I guess it's possible. I could narrow down which cop it could be by tracking down the department cars, but I don't know what to do, whether to tell Chloe or not…"
Dan suddenly kissed Ella, who pushed him off and asked, "Whoa, Dan. What are you doing? I'm flattered, but I just, you're right, we need to be on the same page here, which is that this is no bueno." "I got caught up in the moment," Dan replied. "It won't happen again." Ella sighed, "It's OK. Don't worry about it." Dan said, "And the Tierning thing, sounds like it's way out of left field to me." Ella nodded, "Yeah. Yeah, you're right. OK. Anyway, later." She left the room leaving Dan standing there feeling guilty.
Lucifer and Carlos got to LAPD and Lucifer walked over to Chloe's desk and sat down next to her. Carlos saw Caleb being taken away and Carlos asked, "What happened?" Chloe sighed, "The murder weapon was found in his locker so he's our suspect." Carlos looked back at Chloe and said, "That's crap. Something's not right here. You and Lucifer need to check all of your evidence again." He looked up and saw Amenadiel talking on the phone then heading to the cells so he said, "And I'll go talk to Caleb." "Why?" Lucifer asked. Carlos answered, "Because he reminds me of me and people I grew up with. Someone who was judged because of their background, their appearance. And I won't let him suffer like this." Carlos stomped over towards the cells and Chloe looked at Carlos and thought, "What is he up to?"
Amenadiel walked into Caleb's cell and said, "So listen, I talked to your parents. They're flying back from vacation. We're going to get you a good lawyer, clear your name, and you'll be out of here soon." Caleb sighed, "Let me ask you something. What makes you sure I didn't kill that teacher? " I know you wouldn't," Amenadiel answered. Caleb huffed, "You figured all that out by knowing me for one whole day?" Amenadiel nodded, "I know you wouldn't murder anyone, Caleb." Caleb sighed, "But that doesn't matter. So who cares if you believe me? The cops don't." "But you're innocent," Amenadiel argued. "The truth will come out and they'll have no choice but to set you free…" Caleb chuckled, "What kind of BS, fantasy world do you be living in, man? I mean, look what happened to you. You didn't even do anything and you almost got shot. The only truth that matters is theirs. And to them, I am a black kid who is selling drugs, whose fingerprints were found on the murder weapon. My life is over. Just go. Stop wasting your time on me." Amenadiel stared at Caleb, "I'm not leaving you Caleb. I am on your side."
"As am I." The two looked up to see Carlos standing outside the cell. Carlos pulled on the cell door and with his powers, he opened the door and walked in. "You're that kid," Caleb realized. "How did you get in here?" Carlos smiled, "I just told the guards to take five. And cell doors, please. Now, I am here to help prove your innocence." "But why," Caleb asked. "Why would you help me?" Carlos smiled, "Because kids like us look out for each other. And I am here to help you. Along with my uncle. Right Amenadiel?" Caleb looked up at Amenadiel, "Uncle?" Amenadiel sighed, "It's a long story. But Carlos is right. Now, there are good people out there and right here who can find out the real truth, but they're gonna need your help. And I'm not asking you to have faith in them. Have faith in me. Have faith in Carlos. OK?" Caleb nodded and Carlos said, "OK, I heard that you sold drugs at school. You need to give me a list of who you sold drugs to."
Over at Lux, Maze had been there all day talking to different people to try and build a connection, but no successes at all. Maze sighed as another failed connection walked away. Eve walked over with a drink and said, "Oh, hey, Maze. Have you seen Lucifer?" "No," Maze answered grumpily. Eve asked, "Are you OK?" Maze answered, "That was my 21st bad date. And my 22nd is about to arrive any minute." Eve sat next to her, "Damn. Talk about stamina." Maze sighed, "I know this must sound crazy, but I'm starting to think that maybe I'm the problem." Eve chuckled, "That is crazy. You're awesome. What are you doing on these dates?" "Normal stuff," Maze answered. "OK," Eve replied. "Well, why don't we figure this out. Let's practice on me. We can pretend to be on a date and then try to figure out what's going wrong. OK. I'll start. Hi. I'm Eve." "Hey," Maze replied. "I'm Maze. Nice to meet you. Want to have sex?" "Good," Eve said. "There's nothing wrong with having sex on a first date. But, you know, maybe just wait a few sentences before you go there. OK, tell me about yourself." Maze replied, "Well, I like sex." "Good," Eve said. "And?" Maze thought about it, then groaned, "It's just hard to open up about my life. I am a demon after all." "What's wrong with that?" Eve asked. "Anybody worth dating should understand everything that makes you you. Anyway, don't you have another hot date coming?" Maze saw him, but lied, "Looks like he's a no show. Why don't we keep going? You know, this is really happening." Eve nodded.
Back at LAPD, Lucifer was playing with things on Chloe's desk as Chloe asked, "So how are things going with Eve?" "Not good," Lucifer answered. "I tried being a super bad boyfriend so she's break up with me, even Carlos helped with the planning, but it failed spectacularly." Chloe sighed, "Of course it failed, Lucifer, because that's not who you are." Lucifer looked up, "How do you know who I am?" Chloe sighed, "Because I do. Now, what about Carlos? How are things going with him?" Lucifer replied, "Things are going fine. He was opening up more about his home and his friends, even his girlfriend Jane, but after I told him about the prophecy, he clammed up and I don't understand why. It's like he wants to tell me something but can't." Chloe knew why and said, "Maybe he trying to find the courage to tell you and it's hard for him. Maybe he's scared of how you will react."
Before Lucifer could ask, Amenadiel and Carlos came back and Amenadiel said, "Caleb Mayfield is innocent, Chloe, you really need to look into it." "Did he say something to you?" Chloe asked. "Yes, he did," Carlos answered. "He's being set up." "Did he say by who?" Chloe asked. "Because I've been looking at it as well and I agree, something doesn't add up. It's just too easy." Amenadiel replied, "Whoever framed him must have known that he would make a really good target." "You mean they knew he sold drugs?" "Exactly," Carlos answered. "I had Caleb write down a list of all the kids that he sold to." Chloe pointed to another list, "Here's list of everyone who had access to the gold closet. If one of these kids is on Caleb's list too, then that person would have means and opportunity to meet him up. So let's see. No. None of the names match." Lucifer pointed out two names, "Aren't those two dating?" Chloe saw what Lucifer meant, "Lexy Shaw and Nate Benedict. And they're each other's alibi." "Knew it," Carlos said. "They're just like Audrey and Chad." Lucifer, Chloe, and Amenadiel looked at Carlos, who shrugged, "What?"
Lexy was brought in and put immediately in the interrogation room, "I'm sorry I didn't come forward sooner. I was afraid. Maybe I didn't want to accept it. That he could do something like this." The girl was crying and Chloe asked, "So Nate killed Ms. Baez?" Lexy nodded, "I love him. But he can get so angry sometimes, it's scary. And Nate was devastated when his parents split up. I think he blamed it on Ms. Baez. I just never thought he'd go this far." Chloe sighed, "Lexy, let's take a break, alright? And I'll grab you some tissues."
Chloe left the room and went behind the two way mirror where Lucifer and Carlos were with Nate and his dad, and Nate said, "She's lying." Nate's dad demanded, "Then tell them thee truth, Nate. Now." Nate sighed, "It's all because of stupid Harvard. Lexy had to get in. She insisted that I go too. And she got us a ton of Adderall so we could study harder. My grades went up and then the SAT came and Ms. Baez was the test administrator." "You stole the test," Lucifer realized. Nate nodded, "We knew she had a copy in her office. I didn't want to do it and she made me. And then Ms. Baez found out." "That's why you were fighting after the YEA meeting?" Chloe asked. Nate explained, "She told men that if I didn't come clean, she was calling my dad and then the cops. And when I told Lexy, she freaked. Said, "I have worked too hard to get into Harvard and I'm not letting Ms. Baez ruin it," and she made me steal Caleb's club…" "You killed her?" Nate's dad asked. "No!" Nate shouted. "I couldn't do it, but Lexy did. And I'm just as bad because I covered it all up and I lied about Caleb. He didn't do anything." "Why should we believe you, Nate?" Chloe asked. "I'm telling the truth and I can prove it," Nate answered. "How?" Chloe asked. "Lexy's bloody clothes," Nate explained. "I was supposed to get rid of them and I didn't. I didn't even care about Harvard. Lexy just wanted me to be someone I'm not and I should have stood up to her before anybody got hurt. I'm so sorry." Lucifer took the last few words that Nate said to heart as he felt the same way about himself with Eve.
Carlos, meanwhile, was getting angry, mainly at Lexy. She ruined two kid's lives because of what she did. Before anyone could stop him, he left the room and marched right into the interrogation room and used his powers to lock the door behind him. Lexy looked up and said, "Oh, you're that boy who was with the detectives. That troubled boy." Carlos chuckled, "And you're that spoiled princess who thinks she can get anything she wants." He heard tapping on the glass but ignored it, "You know, I know a girl who is just like you. Audrey. Sweet girl. Grew up as a spoiled princess. Captain of the cheerleading squad and dating the school's top prince, soon to be king. She had dreams to marry him and rule over the land together. Her future was all planned out. Then my friends and I came to that school as part of a integrated program and my friend, Mal, took the prince's breath away. He fell in love with her and dumped Audrey as he felt more like himself with Mal. Audrey didn't take too kindly to that. She tried many different things to get her prince back. She tried to turn people against her. That failed when Mal and her friends, including me, saved the world. But then she found out that the prince proposed to Mal. She got angry. For revenge. She saw Mal as a villain, so she became a villain to outdo Mal: put people to sleep, turned some to stone, kidnapped Mal's friend, and turned the prince into a beast. She wanted to take everything away from Mal and she almost succeeded, but she underestimated the daughter of a dark fairy and a god."
Lexy was starting to get creeped out but annoyed, "What's your point?" Carlos heard people try to open the door as he walked closer to Lexy, "My point is that you are just like Audrey. You had the perfect future all planned out. Perfect boyfriend, perfect college to go to, everything. Then you found out that Ms. Baez was going to turn you in for cheating. She couldn't get in the way of your dreams, so you killed her. Am I right?" Lexy tried to shake her head, but Carlos chuckled, "Liar. For you see, I know that the little angel that used to be on your shoulder is now replaced with a little devil, and you're no longer the Queen of Good. You're the Queen of Mean." Lexy started to shake with fear as Carlos sat opposite her and Carlos said, "So, why don't you stop lying and tell me the truth? Because that boyfriend you thought was so perfect, isn't as perfect as you hoped." Lexy gulped and started to tell the truth.
Chloe and Lucifer stood outside the door as they were trying to get in as Lucifer was standing there in shock. Chloe wanted him to break the door down, but Lucifer stopped her, "Wait. He got a confession out of her. He scared her straight." Chloe looked back and thought, "Carlos really is Lucifer's son. He just used a similar tactic that Lucifer uses."
Carlos then opened the door and said, "She's all yours. She came clean. You can still get the bloody clothes from Nate to prove her guilt." Carlos then walked away, Lucifer was about to go after him, but Chloe said, "Wait. I'll talk to him." Chloe walked after Carlos and whispered, "Can I talk to you for a minute?" Carlos nodded and Chloe took him to a conference room. Carlos sighed, "I'm sorry if you think I shouldn't have done that…" "No, it's fine," Chloe said. "I wanted to talk to you about something else." "OK," Carlos replied. Chloe sighed, "I know that you are Lucifer's son." Carlos' eyes widened, "How did you know?" "The prophecy," Chloe said. "I figured it out: your powers, your goal to get closer with Lucifer, and what you did back there is something that Lucifer would have done." Carlos sighed, "You're right. I am his son." "He doesn't know, does he?" Chloe asked. Carlos shook his head, "No. I've been wanting to tell him for so long. But I have trust issues and every time I wanted to, things came up, and now this prophecy…" "Stop," Chloe interrupted. "I know that you are scared to tell him, but delaying it will only make it worse. I kept the secret about Kinley from him for too long and it hurt him. Prophecy or not, you need to tell him. He's your dad and he has a right to know." Carlos sighed and nodded.
They left the conference room and Lucifer walked over, "Carlos, we need to leave. I need to talk to Eve." Carlos had a feeling of what it was, so Carlos nodded and left with Lucifer. Chloe sighed as they walked away.
Meanwhile, Amenadiel had paid off Tahir, gotten his necklace back, and returned to LAPD just as Caleb was being released. He walked up to the boy and said, "So you're free to go." Caleb noticed, "You got your necklace back." Amenadiel nodded, "I paid off Tahir, so you don't have to worry about him anymore." Caleb smirked, "Looks like I owe you a favor now. How can I get you back?" "Know something?" Amenadiel replied. "I've been thinking about that and I will accept nothing less than a game of one on one tomorrow." Caleb chuckled, "As long as we can get ice cream afterwards. By the way, you got nothing to worry about." "About what?" Amenadiel asked. "Being a dad," Caleb answered. "You're gonna crush it." Amenadiel smiled, "I'll see you tomorrow." Cale turned and left LAPD, with Amenadiel looking forward to tomorrow.
Back at Lux, Maze and Eve were still chatting away with Maze saying, "And he got all upset with me because I laughed at the end of the movie. I thought it was a comedy. Have you seen it?" "Marley and Me?" Eve asked. "No. But maybe we can watch it together." Maze smirked, "Yeah, that would be nice. Anyway, enough about my bad dating stories. Don't you have any?" "Bad dating stories?" Eve asked. "No. I was married for, like, thousands of years. And then, on my second try, I found the one." "Yeah," Maze replied. "But how did you know that Lucifer was the one?" Eve explained, "With Adam, I guess I felt like I was always trying to be someone that I wasn't. And then, with Lucifer, I feel like I can just be myself, you know? At least I did. Lately, I feel like he's kind of pulling away from me. Especially because of that kid." Maze didn't want to say anything against Carlos, so she said, "That's just Lucifer. He can bee a self-sabotaging jackass sometimes. But he will come around. He'd be a fool not to. You're way too awesome." Eve smiled in gratitude.
Dan was over at the bar and saw Maze walk over for more drinks, so he greeted, "Yo, Mazy-Maze. What's going on?" "We're having a drink, bro," Maze answered. She tried to walk past, but Dan stopped her, "Yeah, because it kind of looks to me like you're making the moves on Lucifer's girl." Maze sighed, "Well, it kind of looks to me like you're wasted." "Don't sweat it," Dan replied. "I'm not going to say anything because you and me, we're the same. You should've seen how I played Ella today. And assholes like us, we've got to stick together." Maze stared at Dan, "I'm not interested in Eve, Dan. We're just talking. You know, hanging out." "That's great," Dan drunkly replied. "That's cool. Because that means that you won't care if I take a shot." Maze pushed him back, "Back off." "Whoa," Dan said. "So I struck a nerve after all. I'm going to do your a solid, OK? I'm going to go tell Eve exactly how you feel about her." Maze punched him and squeezed his neck, while Dan chuckled, "Come on, Maze. Is that all you've got? Come on, give it to me!" "You want me to hurt you?" Maze realized. "You're trying to punish yourself." She pushed off him and told security, "Get him out of here." A guard came and took Dan away.
Lucifer and Carlos returned and Lucifer told Carlos, "You go and get some rest. I'll talk to you later. I need to talk with Eve." Carlos nodded and said, "I understand. And I know what you are about to do. All I am going to say is good luck. You are doing the right thing." Lucifer smiled as Carlos got off on his floor and Lucifer got to the penthouse, "Eve?" He found her out on the balcony and walked out saying, "We need to talk. I've been thinking…" "Actually," Eve interrupted. "I have something I want to say first." "Go on," Lucifer said. Eve sighed, "Tonight, a friend helped me realize that I'm great. No. You know what? I'm awesome. And I deserve to babe treated well." Lucifer replied, "You're right. And you are so much more than awesome, Eve. You have a light inside of you that brightens the world and a smile so infectious that it captures the heart of anyone lucky enough to see it. And I'm sorry for the way that I've treated you lately. You don't deserve that." Eve smiled and started to walk to Lucifer, "That's all I wanted to hear…" But Lucifer backs away, "Which is why I should have just said this straight away. I want to break up with you."
Eve was confused, "I don't understand. I've been trying so hard to please you. I've made friends with all your friends. Even that detective and that kid…" "You see that's just it," Lucifer replied. "You shouldn't have to change for anyone. And neither should I. Eve, I have been trying so hard to make you happy too, trying to be someone I'm not. Or at least, someone I don't want to be anymore. And you deserve to be with someone that wants what you want." "I want to be with you," Eve pleaded. Lucifer shouted, "And I don't like who I am with you! I don't." Eve sighed, "It's because of that Detective. You still have feelings for her? Or it is because of that kid? I think that's it. He's trying to keep you away from me. He's trying to steal your attention. He's not good for you…" "Enough!" Lucifer shouted. "That kid has a name. Carlos. And he's been through more than you can possibly imagine. He grew up with a mother who abused him, was made a slave in his own home, and lived on an island full of evil people. People that he didn't want to be like. His mother was a villain and he wants to be something different, even if he has his mother's illusion ring. He came to me for help. And I haven't done enough for him thanks to you. Thanks to me. But he made me realize that I am different than how you see me. You were making me become a person I am not anymore." "Because I want to have a good time with the Devil!" Eve shouted. "Is that too much to ask?" Those words rung in Lucifer's ears and he remembered another women saying those exact words to him, years ago. He heard her voice say them and he saw a woman with white and dark hair lying on a bed chuckling evilly.
His phone went off and that shook him from the memory and he muttered, "Sorry. I have to take this. It's work." He answered the phone, "Detective, how can I help you? No, I don't know where Amenadiel is. Why?" Eve meanwhile walked away and out of the penthouse.
Chloe had called Lucifer because Caleb was discovered shot down and killed. Lucifer went down to the guest suite and told Carlos that he had to go out and to stay there. Carlos was reluctant but nodded. Lucifer left and Dude walked up and said, "So, are you going to tell him?" Carlos nodded, "Yeah, Chloe talked me into it. She's right. I can't keep this from him anymore. Even if he won't talk to me anymore, he deserves to know."
Chloe and Lucifer were at the crime scene when Amenadiel arrived and saw Caleb lying there dead. He started to tear up when Chloe walked over and said, "Amenadiel, I promise you, we will find whoever did this." Chloe walked away and Lucifer walked up to Amenadiel. He looked down at Caleb and felt like if this was Carlos, he would feel destroyed. Amenadiel said, "I know who did this." "I'll drive," Lucifer said, knowing what Amenadiel wanted to do.
Lucifer drove to Tahir's place, and the two walked up as Tahir said, "What's the damage, big man?" Amenadiel punched one of the thugs to the ground and answered, "Caleb." Tahir replied. "I warned that boy not to do that, man." Amenadiel grabbed him and punched him, then threw him to the ground. The other thugs tried to come and help, but Lucifer held them back with his red eyes and the thugs got scared. Amenadiel punched Tahir over and over again. He wanted to deliver the final punch, but couldn't. He walked away and Lucifer followed him. Amenadiel then said, "They've lost themselves. Earth is no place to raise my son. Maybe you should think the same about yours." Lucifer was shocked by that statement as Amenadiel walked away, not caring that he may have just told Lucifer about having a son. He went straight to the morgue and gave his necklace to Caleb to be buried with him.
Lucifer went back to Lux and sat at the bar. Chloe came in and asked, "How's Amenadiel doing?" Lucifer sighed, "You know, tormented." "And how are you doing?" Chloe asked. Lucifer took a drink and revealed, "I broke up with Eve." Chloe sighed, "Well, you know, if it's what you wanted, then it's all for the best." "It is what I wanted," Lucifer replied. "Prophecy or not, she was in love with the person I used to be." "I understand," Chloe said. "You've changed. You've become a better man, Lucifer." Lucifer sighed, "You see, that's just it, detective. Eve sees me in a different way. But so do you. That's what makes you so special. The fact you see me that way. And Carlos sees me in a different way. He's already special. But I don't like how that makes me feel either."
The elevator doors opened and out walked Carlos with Dude. Chloe looked over and noticed that Carlos had a serious look on his face. Chloe sighed, "I should go. It looks like you and Carlos need to have a talk. One sorely needed." Chloe walked out of Lux as Lucifer turned to Carlos and said, "She's right. We need to talk. I've been having flashbacks and I think you are the answer to them. You've told me a lot about your home, your friends, your girlfriend, but nothing much about you. Or your mother. So tell me now. Because I have theories and I don't know what's true anymore."
Carlos sighed and said, "I wanted to tell you the truth for so long, but it was hard. So now I am going to get some courage and tell you. Remember I told you that I taught myself how to play the piano? The first song I learned was the one written about my mother, just to annoy her. I think I should play it for you before I say anything else." Carlos walked over to the piano as Dude sat where he was. Carlos sat on the bench and played the opening notes of "Cruella De Vil". Lucifer slowly recognized the song and he stared at Carlos with wide eyes as Carlos started to sing from the bridge of the song,
At first you think she is the devil
But after time has worn away the shock
You come to realize
You've seen her kind of eyes
Watching you from underneath a rock!
This vampire bat
This inhuman beast
She ought to be locked up
And never released
The world was such a wholesome place until
Cruella, Cruella, De Vil
Carlos stopped playing and stood up, pulled out his ring, and looked at Lucifer, who was still staring at him with wide eyes, as Carlos spoke, "My mother, Cruella, explained this to me. About 18 years ago, after a couple years on the island, she was starting to go insane, more insane than usual. All of her magic was poured into this ring. It was useless on the Isle because of the barrier, or so she thought. She had accidentally put some magic into it thanks to some cracks in Hades' cave when she visited him for something. One night, she went to bed drunk and said out loud, "This place is a bore and so are everyone on it. I wish that the Devil could come and show me a good time for once!" Little did she know that her ring fulfilled that wish, a portal was opened to Hell, your Hell, and you walked through it. Cruella didn't know what happened and who you were, but apparently you were just as confused, so you introduced yourself and my mother accepted it after you showed her your true face. She drunkenly realized that her wish came true and you saw another conquest. Then, you know, you two had sex, and during the aftermath, her wish was fulfilled and you were magically sent back to your Hell, none the wiser that normally you couldn't impregnate a human thanks to your celestial genes, but thanks to that magical barrier, you become somewhat mortal. And nine months later, Cruella gave birth to a son. Your son. Me."
Carlos removed the ring from around his neck and his hair was restored to the white with dark roots as he continued, "I wasn't told about that night until I left the Isle to go to school in Auradon. After a few months, I started to notice things happening to me, people doing what I asked, things moving on their own, etc. I started to freak out and Mal did some magic thing and discovered that half of me wasn't human. So after the barrier came down, I confronted my mother and she told me about the night with you. She said, "That devil father of yours is responsible for being the freak that you are. If you want to figure out how to be that freak, go find him." So I did some research and discovered that you somehow crossed dimensions and I could do the same to find you. I got my mother's ring and came here to find you. And eventually, angels like your sister must have found out about me and your sister wanted to bring me to her home, Heaven. She realized that my celestial half was suppressed, thanks to spending most of my life on the Isle, and she put some celestial power in me to make that side awakened quicker. And after a lot of pain, I now have these." He unfurled his wings to Lucifer, sending the Devil into more shock. Carlos took a deep breath and said, "I am Carlos De Vil, son of Cruella De Vil, and Lucifer Morningstar. I am your son. Your heir. Hi, Dad."
Lucifer stood there trying to process everything. As Carlos was talking, his memories of that night came flooding back to him: the portal appearing in Hell, him going through, finding Cruella and being surprised that another dimension full of fairy tale/mythical people existed, the two talking and having sex, and him being pulled back into Hell and forgetting about the entire night. The proof of that night was standing before him with white hair and dark roots, with angel wings, one white and one black, looking at him with pleading eyes. "I have an heir," Lucifer whispered. "I have a son. Flash and blood. And….I'm a father. I…." Lucifer felt so much guilt flood him and fear as this was a sign that the prophecy was true. Lucifer started to tear up and said, "I'm sorry." He then walked out of Lux, leaving Carlos standing there with tears in his eyes. "Dad," Carlos whispered as he hid his wings and sank to the ground and started to sob. Dude ran over and put his head on Carlos' lap and said, "It is done, Carlos. You told the truth." "But he walked away," Carlos said. "I had a feeling he might, and I thought I was prepared for it, but I guess I wasn't. He doesn't want me. Neither of my parents wants me." "Carlos," Dude whined as Carlos sat there and continued to cry.
Lucifer, meanwhile, had called Linda and they met at her office late at night. He sat there on the couch and said, "This is all His fault." "What is?" Linda asked. Lucifer sighed, "Every bad thing that's ever happened. With Eve, with the Detective, with Carlos, my son." "He's your son?" Linda was surprised. Lucifer nodded, "He just told me. That's what he was hiding from me. Because he was scared of how I would react. I don't know how to react. About any of this. But I know that dear old Dad's back up to his old tricks, manipulating me. Using Eve, Chloe, and Carlos to tear me apart." "Do you really believe that?" Linda asked. Lucifer answered, "With every fiber of my being, but I also know it's a lie. A grand deception I've been telling myself for since before I can remember." "Why do you think you've been lying to yourself all this time?" Linda asked. Lucifer answered, "Because the truth is so much harder to face. Like it was hard for Carlos to tell me the truth." "What is the truth?" Linda asked. "My devil face," Lucifer revealed. "My devil wings, everything that's happening to me, it's my own bloody fault. I brought this upon myself. How's about that for starters?"
"Don't you see?" Linda replied. "This is progress. Genuine progress. Unraveling these patterns of denial is the first step toward resolving these issues." "No, doctor," Lucifer argued. "This isn't progress. Because if I'm doing this to myself, then the real truth is…" "Is what?" Linda prodded. "Come on, Lucifer. This will weigh on you unless you face it head on. The real truth is what?" Lucifer sighed, "There is something rotten inside of me. Rotten to the core, like Carlos would say. I find it near impossible to drown out the constant cacophony of voices whispering in my ear, telling me I am evil. A villain, like my son's mother. I'm drowning, doctor. And I can't stop asking myself, why do I hate myself so much?"
