Chloe was worried about Carlos so she returned to Lux about an hour after she left and went into the empty club. She panicked when she heard crying and she ran down the stairs and stopped on the main floor when she saw Carlos, with his natural white hair, lying on the floor next to Dude, crying. Chloe approached him and said, "Carlos? It's Chloe. Are you OK?" Carlos wiped his eyes and said, "I don't know." Chloe sighed, "You told him? And I am guessing that he didn't take it well?" Carlos nodded, "I told him everything. And he stood there in shock, then ran away. I don't blame him, finding out that you have a son can be a lot, and I had a feeling that her would react poorly, but it still hurts. It feels like he's rejecting me." Carlos cried some more and Chloe knelt to the ground and hugged Carlos, "Don't say that. Lucifer just takes things the wrong way sometimes. He takes a while to accept things. Look at me. He was bitter about me lying to him about Kinley and it took him some time to forgive me. I know that Lucifer still cares for you, I've seen it. Just give him some time, he'll come around." "You think so?" Carlos asked. Chloe nodded, "I've known Lucifer for years now. I know he will. And I'll make sure of it."
"You see, Carlos, things will turn out great," Dude said and Chloe pulled back and asked, "Who said that?" She looked down at Dude, who said, "It was me. Surprise." Chloe was shocked and Carlos sighed, "Dude. I told you not to talk to anyone." "But only in an emergency," Dude said. "But this was an emergency, you needed comfort." Carlos looked at Chloe and said, "Yea, Dude can talk. I know, not something you see on this Earth." "This Earth?" Chloe asked. "And your hair is white with black roots. Care to explain?" Carlos chuckled, "Yea. Maybe I should reintroduce myself to you. Hi, my name is Carlos De Vil, son of Cruella De Vil and Lucifer Morningstar. I'm from another Earth in a kingdom called Auradon, where fairy tales/myths/legends actually exist." Chloe looked at Carlos and said, "OK. That's a lot to take in. Who knew that Cruella De Vil of 101 Dalmatians was real."
Chloe stood up and said, "Hey, why don't you stay with me tonight? You look like you could use some company. Trixie would love to see you. You can talk about your home with me on the way and then tomorrow morning, I can take you to LAPD where I am sure that Lucifer will be there. And you two can talk. OK?" Carlos nodded and stood up, "I'd like that. Thank you, Chloe. Is it OK if Dude comes with us?" Chloe nodded and said, "Of course. But maybe let's not tell Trixie about any of this, OK?" Carlos nodded and grabbed his ring from the piano and put it on, the hair illusion spell working and his hair was curly brown again. "It's my mom's ring," Carlos explained. "She had illusion magic and it is all in this ring. I needed to hide my hair, if you get what I mean." Chloe nodded and guided Carlos out of the club and to her car.
The next morning, Chloe took Carlos to work, after a night of fun with Trixie, and put Carlos in a conference room and Chloe looked out to see if Lucifer was coming. He did, and Chloe ran up to him and said, "Hi. Listen, about everything that you said last night…" "It doesn't matter," Lucifer interrupted. Chloe sighed, "I really think it does." Lucifer interrupted again, "No, I'm way beyond that, Detective. You see, I've made a breakthrough." "Really?" Chloe asked. 'What is it?" "I hate myself," Lucifer revealed. Chloe replied, "Well, I'm not quite sure what to do with that, but it doesn't sound like a good thing." Lucifer scoffed, "But of course it is, Detective. All my time with Dr. Linda has been about exploiting the denial that I'm in, but I've overcome that now, I've had an honest-to-Devil epiphany. Now all my problems should just, you know, go away."
"Does that include learning that you have a son?" Chloe asked which caused Lucifer to frown. "You know?" Chloe nodded, "When I first heard the prophecy, I put the pieces together when I realized that Carlos is very similar to you. I confronted him and encouraged him to tell you. He was scared because of the prophecy, but he agreed. I came back to Lux an hour after I left last night and he was on the floor, crying. He's hurting, Lucifer. So I had him stay with me and Trixie last night and he's here now waiting in the conference room. You need to talk to him. I know you still care for him. Just help him, please." Lucifer sighed and nodded. Chloe smiled, "Good. Then follow me. Oh, and a new case just came in, so after you talk to Carlos, we can go to the crime scene. And we still need to about more about this later."
Chloe walked to the conference room and Lucifer was about to follow when Ella stopped him, "Hey, Lucifer." Lucifer turned to Ella, "Ah! Morning, Ms. Lopez." Lucifer waved his hand and Ella stopped, "Whoa! What's wrong with your hand?" Lucifer looked down and saw that his hand was slowly turning into his Devil form. Ella groaned, "Lucifer, that is the worst case of psoriasis I've ever seen." "This is impossible," Lucifer whispered. Ella said, "I have some creams in my lab. Hold on." Ella ran off to the lab as Lucifer hid his hand and walked to the conference room.
When he walked in, he saw Carlos sitting in a chair, Dude at his feet, and Chloe standing nearby. "Hey, Lucifer," Carlos said weakly. Chloe walked over and pushed Lucifer towards Carlos and Lucifer sighed, "Hello, Carlos. I am sorry for walking our on you last night. I needed time to process all of this. I still do. I made a revelation about myself and I went to see Linda. I realized that I hate myself and I am starting to overcome my denial. So I just want you to know that we can still spend time together, but this new revelation will take some time. I gave time to you to finally open up to me, you must grant me this as well. Do you understand?" Carlos nodded as he stood up and said, "Thanks, D…" "And please don't call me Dad," Lucifer added. "Let's just stick to first names for now. OK?" Carlos was saddened by that, but nodded. Chloe could tell but instead said, "I have my keys. Let's go to the crime scene."
Eve meanwhile had bunked at Linda's house with Maze and was now on the couch crying her eyes out over her breakup with Lucifer. Maze was pulling a lot of weapons out and Eve asked, "What are you doing?" Maze answered, "I'm gonna punish Lucifer for what he did to you. Where is my shuriken? I had to hide most of my weapons so Linda wouldn't get rid of them." Eve replied, "Maze, your can't hurt Lucifer." Maze pulled out a spear and said, "Oh, I definitely can." "No," Eve cried. "You can't hurt him because I love him. I want him back. I just don't understand why he would say that he doesn't love himself when he is with me. Or maybe I do understand why he said that. Maybe that brat Carlos convinced him that we aren't good together. That kid is no good for Lucifer. But still, what does this all mean?" Maze, knowing the real connection between Carlos and Lucifer, didn't say anything about that, but instead said, "It means, he is an idiot, which is typical for Lucifer. Not realizing how lucky he is. Not realizing what is right in front of him. In any sense." Eve sniffed, "Thanks. How do I get him back? And away from that brat and that detective?"
Maze sighed, and wanting to help her because she was developing feelings for her, said, "Lucifer is like any other man. He wants what he can't have." Eve nodded, "OK. I can do that. You know, I just need to show him that I'm fine. You know, that I'm fine without him. That Carlos is just a brat who wants attention. I can do that. OK, maybe I can't do that. Unless you help me. Please." Maze felt unsure about Eve getting back at Carlos as she had a soft spot for the kid, so she decided to focus on Lucifer, "So, in the old days, I could just enter your body and take over. Demons used to be able to possess humans. But only when they'd just died. But then Lucifer forbade it." "Why?" Eve asked. Maze shrugged, "Above my pay grade. Most have pissed off someone in the Silver City. It was fun, though. The looks on their faces when you pop up and be "Rah!" But it's has to be coming from Hell, Eve, so no such luck there. We'll have to do this the old fashioned way." "What is that?" Eve asked. "You're gonna get your shit together," Maze answered. "And then we are gonna go and rub in Lucifer's face just how much you don't need him."
Lucifer, Chloe, and Carlos drove over to the crime scene and Chloe walked up and talked with some police officers while Lucifer ran over and put gloves over his hands as the Devil persona was starting to show on them. Carlos noticed but didn't say anything as Dude tilted his head. Lucifer walked over to Chloe and Chloe asked, "Since when do you voluntarily wear evidence gloves?" Lucifer sighed, "Detective, it's…well, I…" Chloe realized, "This is about the other night, isn't it? Lucifer, I don't want you to feel like you have to be someone you're not when you are around me. And if this is part of the reason why you think you hate yourself…" Lucifer interrupted, "No need to worry on that front, Detective. All my self-hatred is also self-inflicted. No one to blame but myself on that." Carlos felt worried by that statement as the trio walked into the house and Chloe said, "But I still don't see how this epiphany solves anything." "It doesn't," Carlos mumbled.
They walked in and Ella shouted, "Stop! Hammer time!" She danced a little, but Lucifer, Chloe, and Carlos were looking at her weirdly. Ella sighed, "Because she was killed with a hammer! Come on, guys, I've been waiting years to do that one. Anyway, victim's name is Megan Murphy, 34. One half…" "Of the Murphy twins," Chloe finished. "Yeah, they're local celebrities for their twin shtick. Any suspects?" "The other twin, actually," Ella answered. "Moira. She was found standing over the body, hammer in hand. She bolted after eyewitnesses saw her. We have a BOLO out, but no luck finding her yet. The realtor who found the body was the twins' younger sister, Beth." Chloe looked over the notes, "And according to interviews, Beth wasn't aware of any tension between the sisters." Lucifer sighed, "Sometimes there's a darkness waiting just under the surface. Waiting for a chance to emerge…" He bent down, but Ella shouted, "You can't touch this!" "Yes, I get it," Lucifer scoffed. "It's the lyrics to the song." "No," Ella explained. "It's because I haven't bagged it yet and you never wear gloves. Wait, you're wearing gloves. Did the cream i give you not work?" "Cream?" Chloe asked. Carlos looked down at Dude, who tilted his head in confusion.
They all heard a motorcycle coming their way and saw that Maze and Eve were on it. Carlos groaned as Chloe asked, "You know what this is?" "Haven't a clue," Lucifer revealed as Carlos mumbled, "I think I do." Maze and Eve walked over and Maze said, "Heard you got a suspect on the run. We'll catch her in no time." "We?" Lucifer asked. "What, you two are working together now?" "Yeah," Maze said. "We're partners. She's got a natural talent for hunting bounties." "Don't you need an actual bounty to be put out?" Chloe asked. "Because right now there isn't one." Maze smirked, "Like to get a head start on the competition, Chloe."
Lucifer sighed and pulled Eve away, "Eve. There was no need to make a scene at my work." "I'm not," Eve argued and they both heard Carlos mutter, "That's crap." Eve glared at Carlos, who smirked. Maze nodded to Eve, and Eve said, "Listen, Luce, what you said hurt a lot, but I really think that the break-up was the best thing that's ever happened to me." "Really?" Lucifer asked, but Carlos wasn't buying it. Eve nodded, "I'm having more fun that ever with Maze. I think it's exactly what I needed." Lucifer replied, "Well, that's wonderful news." "Come on, Eve," Maze shouted. "We've got a murderous twin to catch." "Sounds fun," Eve replied. She walked away and brushed up to Carlos, "Don't think you've won. I'll win him back. You'll see." "Careful, honey," Carlos mocked. "You're starting to go jealous again." Eve scoffed and got on Maze's motorcycle and whispered, "How did I do?" "Pretty damn good, lady," Maze whispered back. Eve looked back up to see if Lucifer was looking, but Lucifer had walked into the house along with Chloe. Carlos was standing there glaring at Maze and Eve and gave Maze a look of "Watch it!" and he turned and walked into the house. Maze revved up her motorcycle and she and Eve left.
Lucifer found Chloe and guided her to a quiet place and Carlos came up to them and asked, "What's going on?" Lucifer sighed, "Detective, I'm afraid you were right. Things aren't as simple as I thought. In fact, my epiphany may have backfired on me." "What do you mean?" Chloe asked. "Wait," Carlos asked. "Is this about what's happening to your hand?" Lucifer looked over and Carlos and nodded solemnly. Lucifer pulled a glove off and revealed to the two that his hands were now completely Devil like. Chloe took a deep breath, "Is that how your face gets?" "Yes," Lucifer revealed. "Though Devil hand doesn't have quite the same ring to it. Detective, this hasn't happened to me before." "It's going to be OK," Chloe replied. "We'll figure it out. Put the glove back on and I'm sure it will go away in no time." "That's just it, Detective!" Lucifer said. "It started out as a patch of skin, but now it's spreading."
Carlos thought for a moment and said, "Wait, I still have some of Mal's potion. Maybe it will reverse this." He reached into his pocket and pulled out the vial and Chloe realized, "The stuff you gave Lucifer when he was shot." Carlos nodded, "D-Lucifer, just take a sip of this. Maybe it will help." Lucifer took the vial and swallowed a drop and looked down at his hand, "Nope. Nothing." Carlos winced, "I'm sorry. I thought…" "I'm not mad at you," Lucifer reassured. "You tried to help and I appreciate that. But maybe I should go to the source of this." Lucifer turned and left, with Chloe and Carlos standing there. Carlos was a little sad about Lucifer leaving him there, but Chloe said, "It's OK. He just wants to figure this out. Give him time like he asked."
Lucifer drove all the way to Linda's office and barged in saying, "This is all your fault. You and your epiphanies. Turns out self-help is actually self-harm." Linda was sitting down at her desk, "Hey, Lucifer, it's OK to bee afraid. That means we're making progress." Lucifer scoffed, "Oh, we're making progress in precisely the wrong direction." Lucifer pulled off his glove and showed her his Devil hand. Linda stood up in shock, "Oh, Lucifer! What's happening to you?" Lucifer replied, "Exactly what I'd like to find out and quickly, because I can't walk around like O.J. bloody Simpson forever." Lucifer turned to close the door and stopped when he heard pain noises, "Thank you for feeling my pain. At least its not my wanking ha…"
He closed the door and turned to see Linda sitting in her chair crying out in pain. Lucifer said, "Please tell me you are not giving birth to that child now." Linda shook her head, "No, no. I'm not due for another coulee of weeks. It's just Braxton Hicks contractions. Ah! Doesn't mean they don't hurt like a son of a…Alright. Better." She stood up and Lucifer said, "Good. I am already dealing with the fact I have a son. I don't want to worry about a nephew right now." Linda nodded, "So, we know subconsciously you control what happens to your own body. So some part of you is reacting to this revelation." "Yes," Lucifer agreed. "And it doesn't seem thrilled, so if you could just de-enlighten me, that'd be lovely, thank you." Linda sighed, "Look, Lucifer, I think you need to step forward, not backward. You need to dig deeper. If you really hate yourself, you need to figure out why." Lucifer sighed in frustration.
He returned to LAPD and went straight for Dan, "Daniel. I've had a realization." Dan sighed, "I really don't care, man." "I hate myself," Lucifer revealed. Dan looked up and said, "OK. What's the punch line?" "Well, me, apparently," Lucifer replied. "Because I haven't the foggiest idea why. Look at me! Why would I ever hate me?" Dan chuckled, "I might have some ideas." Lucifer nodded, "Which is exactly why I've come to you. So please tell me more." Dan revealed, "Well, you don't take anything seriously. You get away with everything, make everything about yourself." "Yes, Daniel," Lucifer interrupted. "I know all that. Please, just dig deeper into your cold, douchy heart." Dan leaned forward and said, "You are the reason Charlotte Richards is dead." Lucifer replied, "Daniel, I need reasons that are actually my fault, not excuses. I should have known you'd be spectacularly useless." Lucifer pushed off the desk and walked away, Dan getting frustrated again.
Lucifer found Chloe in a conference room with Carlos and Dude and Lucifer thought, "I am at least glad the Detective is looking out for my s…Carlos while I am dealing with my crisis." He walked in and Chloe said, "Ah, there you are. Ella is about to join us to discuss the case." Carlos could see the frustration on Lucifer's face, "Are you OK? Did something happen?" Lucifer looked at Carlos, "Of course something happened! Linda told me that I need to dig deeper so I asked Daniel for ideas as to why I hate myself and he was useless! Unbelievable. No one can help me." "Hey!" Carlos shouted, getting Lucifer and Chloe's attention. Carlos' eyes flashed red and he said, "Yelling at people isn't going to make it better. Believe me, I know."
Before Lucifer could ask more about what Carlos said, Ella walked into the room and said, "Is everything OK?" Carlos cleared his throat, "Yes, Lucifer was just ranting for a bit. But he's fine now. Right?" Lucifer meekly nodded and sat down next to Carlos. Ella sat down to and Chloe went over the case, "So, Moira's on the run. Ww have contacted family, friends, co-workers, nothing. Still no luck on the BOLO. So if you were caught standing over the dead body of your twin sister, where would you run to?" Ella suggested, "I would run and run. And never look back. I mean, she literally killed someone with her exact same face. How do you do that?" "You'd have to hate yourself," Lucifer said. Carlos nodded in agreement, but then Lucifer said, "Hello. Detective, this woman may have the answer to my current dilemma, we need to find her immediately." Carlos sighed in frustration as Chloe said without letting Ella know about Lucifer's dilemma, "Sort of what we're trying to do here, Lucifer."
Dan walked in and said, "So, Moria's phone record finally came in. First call she made after the murder, her accountant." Carlos saw the name on the list that Dan gave and wheeled away from the table while Chloe said, "Oh. If I needed money to skip town, that's who I'd call. Let's go talk to him." "Quickly," Lucifer added. "We can't waste a moment. Move!" He charged out of the room and Dan, Chloe, and Ella followed. Carlos looked up and sighed and looked down at Dude and said, "I think we're going to find an interesting surprise when we get there." "Why is that?" Dude whispered. Carlos held out his hand to show that he pulled out the mirror and said, "Because Maze and Eve got there first."
Maze and Eve indeed got there first and had tied the accountant up. Eve was posing in a chair to Maze, "Am I sexier like this, or like this?" Maze chuckled, "Um, I don't know. Yeah." Eve asked the gagged accountant, "What do you think?" The accountant shrugged and Eve groaned, "Maybe this isn't going to work. Where are they, anyway?" Maze replied, "They got the same phone records we did. I promise they will be here."
Eve giggled and got excited. Maze sighed and said, "What about dating someone else? Someone not Lucifer?" Eve thought for a moment, "Oh, my God! You're right! Nothing better to get his jealousy going then to see me happy with someone, of course! How about that detective he hates so much? You know? Don? The douchy one. Dan!" "Or," Maze interrupted. "Maybe you deserve better." "Like who?" Eve asked. Maze pointed to herself and Eve grinned and kissed Maze.
Suddenly the door opened and in walked Lucifer, Chloe, and Carlos, with Dude trotting in, all shocked at the PDA. "Hi, guys," Chloe said. "Hi," Eve said. "Didn't see you there." "Sure didn't," Maze added, not really amused. The accountant groaned and Chloe ran over and untied him. Carlos chuckled, "I knew you two were here first, but this is what you do while you wait?" Eve tilted her head, "How did you know?" Carlos smiled, "Trade secret." Lucifer smirked a little, as he had a feeling that Carlos saw on his mirror that they were here first. So he leaned over, "And you chose not to mention this to me?" Carlos shrugged, "You were in a hurry." Lucifer sighed as he and Carlos walked over to help the accountant. Eve turned to Maze and whispered, "Oh! Did you see his face? You are a genius. Of course! Being with you would make him super jealous. Oh, my God! Thank you!" Maze sighed, "You're welcome." Dude shook his head as Lucifer took the gag out of the accountant who said, "Thank you. These two maniacs barged in here and tied me up!" "Yes," Lucifer replied. "I can see you've had a most unpleasant time so far." The accountant shrugged, "Well, it wasn't all bad."
Lucifer then hosted the accountant up, "I need you to focus. Tell me, why did Moira hate herself so much?" "Hate herself?" The accountant asked. "She didn't hate herself." "She must have," Lucifer insisted. "She literally killed a mirror image of herself. I need to understand why." Chloe added, "She called you after the murder. What did she want?" The accountant shrugged, 'Well, that's the thing. She called to accuse me of killing Megan."
Chloe took the accountant to a table and got him some water. They both sat down and Maze joined them. Lucifer sat at another table and Carlos sat opposite of Chloe but near where Lucifer was standing. Eve was standing near Lucifer. Chloe asked, "Why would Moira accuse you of murder?" The accountant answered, "I tried to ask her that, but then she hung up on me. I love those girls. They're like family to me." Lucifer sighed at that comment and Carlos noticed, feeling the same. Maze scoffed, "Less motive, more location. Where is she? Or I gag you again." Chloe turned to Maze, "No, you will not. And we're gonna talk about proper procedure later on." The accountant added, "Um, they owned a lot of properties. Maybe Moira is at one of those? I can get you the addresses." "Great," Chloe said as he got out the addresses.
Lucifer was messing with his gloves when Eve walked over and said, "Sorry you had to see that." Lucifer looked up, "What? Oh, the snogging. No need to apologize for a bit of fun." Eve sighed, "Well, when the lightning strikes, it strikes, I guess." "Oh," Lucifer realized. "So what? You're saying that you and Maze are together together?" Eve smiled, "I was just looking for the right time to tell you." Lucifer sighed, "Well, all I care is that you are happy, Eve. Genuinely. Are you, though?" "Why wouldn't I be?" Eve asked. Carlos chuckled as he knew that Eve was trying to win Lucifer back through jealousy. Maze was glaring at the two.
"Did Megan do anything strange before she was murdered?" Chloe asked. "Anything to help us figure out who killed her?" "Her sister killed her," Maze said. "Maybe," Chloe said. "But murderers don't often use their first phone call to accuse someone else." The accountant remembered, "Megan took over her company's finances a couple of months ago." "Is that normal?" Chloe asked. The accountant shrugged, "I figured that she wanted to be more involved in the business. But, then, two days ago, she dropped off a thumb drive with a copy of her financial files. Which isn't strange, but she did seem upset." "Did you notice anything odd in the files?" Chloe asked. "I haven't looked," the accountant said. "But the thumb drive is in the filling cabinet." "Can I see it?" Chloe asked. The accountant nodded and stood up to go get it."
Carlos looked behind him at Lucifer and noticed his skin slowly changing. He turned and mimed it at Chloe, who noticed. Chloe walked over and took her scarf off and put it around his neck, "Hey, Lucifer! You look cold." "Detective, I know I'm wearing gloves, but it's actually rather warm…" "No," Carlos said walking over. "It's best you stay covered up." Carlos gave Lucifer a look, and Lucifer realized what he and Chloe meant, "Oh! Right. Always so thoughtful, Detective. Carlos." Eve wasn't happy at the sight but then got an idea. The accountant shouted, "Detective, there seems to be a problem." Chloe walked over, "What is it?" "The thumb drive's missing," the accountant revealed. "Someone must have stolen it," Chloe realized.
Carlos walked over and sat down next to Maze, "Are you OK?" Maze shrugged, "Just confused I guess." Carlos understood, "You like Eve, don't you?" Maze sighed, "I don't know. Maybe." Carlos chuckled, "It's OK. I know it's hard because Eve is still all about Lucifer. But hopefully she'll come around. Besides, this jealousy thing isn't a good look for her." Maze looked over and said, "What is the deal between you two? She hates you and you hate her." Carlos shrugged, "Eve wants Lucifer all to herself, she sees me as a threat. I know that she is not good for Lucifer, so I am helping Lucifer see that. At least I was." Maze realized, "You told him? Didn't you? And he didn't take it well." Carlos sighed, "He's taking it slow. But he doesn't want to call me son and I can't call him Dad. It's frustrating. I just want a good connection with one of my parents. Since my mom is….my mom." Maze replied, "I hate my mom too. And I'm still trying to find a connection. But you need to keep at it. Show Lucifer that you care about him. And for me to say that, wow. I have been spending way too much time with Linda." Carlos chuckled, "Maybe you should take your own advice." Maze clammed up and Carlos said, "Maybe I can start with locating this twin for you." Carlos reached in and pulled out the mirror and whispered, "Mirror, mirror in my hand, where does Moira Murphy stand?" The mirror showed Moira at one of the properties she owns. "How….wait, this is magic?" Maze whispered. Carlos nodded, "It's my friend's mirror. My trade secret. So maybe in the future be careful of what you do. Someone could be looking in on you. But I'm not like that. I use this occasionally." Maze smiled, "Thanks, kid."
Meanwhile, Amenadiel had come over to Linda's office and they were going over baby names, What about the name Zoriel? That's a good name for a warrior. We can call him Zori for short. Or Ezekiel. Zek." Linda nodded, "Um, I was thinking about the name Jack." Amenadiel hummed, "Short for Jackiel. We could definitely put that on the list. Right after Azmortiel." Linda sighed, 'I was hoping for a more mainstream name. Our child is going to have enough challenges considering his nature." Amenadiel shrugged, "All these names are very mainstream in the Silver City, Linda." Linda asked, "But that's not where he is going to be living, is it?" Amenadiel sighed, "No. No, of course not." Even though he wanted his son to live in the Silver City. Linda suggested, "But I suppose he could visit. You could fly him up and back down on holidays. Do you guys have holidays?" Amenadiel shook his head, "No, not really. But that sounds great." "Maybe you could do the same for Carlos," Linda said. "Carlos is looking for a family connection." Amenadiel thought about it, "Maybe. But that's up to him since he's almost an adult. And up to Lucifer." Linda sighed, "We'll see. Lucifer is still taking having a son hard along with other things. Back to names. What about Michael?" Amenadiel shook his head, "No. Definitely not Michael." "Let's keep looking then," Linda suggested. Amenadiel nodded.
Lucifer had ran back to Lux quickly, leaving Carlos with Chloe again, much to the boy's sadness, and got another scarf. Lucifer walked back into LAPD and went to Chloe's desk, "Sorry I'm late, detective. I had to run home to replace your ghastly scarf. One thing I refuse to hate about myself is my style." But he was surprised to see Eve sitting there dressed up like Chloe. Eve looked up, "Did you think I was Chloe? Easy mistake, I guess. We are both thoughtful, smart…" "OK," Lucifer interrupted. "Where is the Detective? And Carlos for that matter? Please don't tell me you murdered the detective and assumed her identity and hid Carlos somewhere?" Eve rolled her eyes, "Lucifer, no. Thanks to a tip from Carlos, Maze and I brought in the runaway twin. I believe Chloe is interrogating her as we speak. And Carlos is out walking his dog. He'll be back shortly." "Great," Lucifer replied. "OK, I'll.." "Great," Eve said sitting back down. "I'll just be here, working on the case, looking for bad guys to bring in to justice."
Lucifer walked into the interrogation room and Moira was sitting there, "Ah, there she is. The answer to all my questions." "Lucifer," Chloe tried to interrupt, but Lucifer continued, "Tell me, Moira. Did killing your sister make it go away?" "What?" Moira asked. "Your self-hatred, of course," Lucifer replied. "If so, do you think if I made a dummy of myself and murdered it, it might work for me?" "What are you talking about?" Moira asked. "I didn't kill Megan. Two days ago, I got a notice of an overdraft on our corporate account. I called Megan, because she handles more of the financial side. She is the smarter one." "Ah," Lucifer said. "SO you hated your own lack of intelligence and took it out on her! It's not particularly relevant to myself, but perhaps…" Chloe interrupted, "Moira, please go ahead."
Lucifer walked off to the side as Moira explained, "Megan told me it was no big deal. I could tell something was wrong, but I just figured she'd handle it. I knew we were showing a house, so I went. But I found Megan dead on the ground. I picked up the hammer. It was instinct. But then I saw Beth staring at me, looking at me like I killed our own sister." "But you ran," Chloe argued. "If you're innocent, why not just explain to Beth that you didn't do it?" "Because I looked so guilty!" Moira shouted. "I figured I had to find out who the real killer was. That's why I called Willy, our accountant." Chloe sighed, "He claims that mEgan took over the financials for the last couple of months, so maybe someone else had access to them?" Moira then said, "Megan's husband. Arnold. Oh, God, it could've been him." "OK," Chloe replied. "Good, we will bring him in and…"
She looked up and saw Lucifer looking down with red eyes. She stood up, "Excuse me." She walked over to Lucifer and put the file she had in his face, "Lucifer, look at this." Lucifer scoffed, "Detective, please, we both know I'm not a paper trail kind of crime solver." He lowered the file and Chloe mimed her eyes. "Is something wrong with his eyes?" Moira asked. Chloe pushed the file up to his face, "Look again! No, Moira. He just was up all night going over the case, he is tired. We will be right back, Moira." She and Lucifer walked out.
Meanwhile, Dan had walked out to his car and got in it. But then he heard a voice say, "Dan!" Dan quickly turned around and pulled out his gun, "Oh, my!" He saw Maze sitting in his back seat. "Maze? What the hell you doing here?" Maze sighed, "Just getting some air." "Right," Dan said as he put his gun away. "Air. In the backseat of my car that is parked in a garage. Look, I'm sorry about what I said to you at Lux the other night. I was just drunk. Dealing with a lot. I still am, but I didn't mean what I said." Maze sighed, "Don't worry about it." Dan realized, "Wait a minute. I was right about you and Eve, wasn't I?" Maze shook her head, but then said, "But why did you think that?" Dan answered, "Because I've never seen you look at anyone the way you looked at her. Like you weren't thinking about stabbing them. Can I give you some advice? I only had a few weeks with Charlotte. But we could've had so much more time together if I hadn't waited. And I wish I had that time back. Don't make the same mistake I did. If you have feelings for her, you gotta tell her." Maze sighed, "I kind of tried that, you know. It kind of backfired." "Then find a way to show her," Dan suggested. "Grand gesture and all that. What do you have to lose?" Maze sighed and said, "Maybe you're right. Maybe I could get Carlos to help me."
Carlos meanwhile walked back into LAPD after walking Dude. He looked over and saw Eve, dressed like Chloe, at Chloe's desk. Carlos walked over and asked, "Eve, what are you doing?" Eve looked up, "Oh, it's you. And I am here to get Lucifer back. No thanks to you." Carlos chuckled, "You blame me? I just told him that you affected him badly. He took his time to break up with you so that was his choice, I did nothing to influence him. He makes his own decisions." Eve scoffed, "Liar. He still cares for me, I know it. I love him. Why do you want to come in the way of that?" Carlos sighed, "You are trying to win a battle that you already lost. You can't control who Lucifer cares for. And you can't be someone that you're not. Haven't you said that exact same thing to him?" Eve was about to retort, but realized that Carlos was right. But said, "It doesn't matter. I love him and I want to be with him. You won't get in the way of that. And you won't win with that illusion ring of yours. I know you have used that to sway him." Carlos pulled out his ring and said, "Sorry, Eve. But I haven't used this ring to affect Lucifer. Only on me for my hair. But I showed him the real me." "And did he accept you?" Eve asked. Carlos sighed, "He's working on it."
Lucifer came onto the main floor of LAPD with sunglasses on to hide his red eyes. He saw Chloe walking Megan's husband out and Lucifer asked, "Is that the husband with a high-priced lawyer to boot? That bodes well for his guilt." Chloe explained, "Well, he denied everything and the search warrant for the house didn't yield any information." Lucifer replied, "So it is the sister. Killed the twin and ran off with the evidence." Chloe shook her head, "No, we just go the time of death back. Megan died 30 minutes before Moira was found standing over the body. So she either stopped to admire her work…" "Or it isn't her," Lucifer finished. "Does the husband have an alibi?" "No," Chloe answered. "He's still our best suspect. Megan's laptop is missing and he did have easy access to that, so maybe he was stealing money from their company. Maybe she caught him and they got into a fight." Lucifer added, "And after a little brutal murder, he ran off with the evidence." "Yeah," Chloe agreed. "We're still trying to get the husband's financial records to see if he spent a lot of money recently, but his lawyer is stonewalling."
She looked and saw Eve at her desk dress like her and Carlos standing nearby with Dude. "Er, Lucifer," Chloe said. "What is Eve doing sitting at my desk?" Chloe and Lucifer walked over and Carlos said, "Glad to see you two. Maybe you can talk some sense into her." Eve glared at Carlos, but then stood up, "Detective, I was going through the case and…" "Listen, Eve," Chloe interrupted. "If you want to dress like me, that's fine. Weird, but fine. But this is an official LAPD case file." Eve replied, "I think I know how to catch the killer." Chloe sighed, "OK, ten seconds, go." "Seriously?" Carlos asked. Eve ignored Carlos and said, "Whoever stole the thumb drive was obviously covering their tracks. Right? So clearly, there's something in that file that can help us catch the killer." "But Willy never made a copy of the thumb drive," Chloe argued. "But what if he did?" Eve offered. "He didn't," Chloe argued. "What if he did?" Eve offered again. Carlos rolled his eyes and Lucifer was getting confused. Chloe realized, "Well, he didn't, but if we claimed to have a copy of it…" "And then stage a sting," Eve offered. "Have Moira tell the family that she is selling off the company to a wealthy buyer…" Chloe continued, "And then we have Moira present the fake copy of the financials to Lucifer, at a party at Lux." Eve was mimicking Chloe, which caused both Carlos and Dude to chuckle. Lucifer then said, "Then just sit back and wait for the husband to steal them." "You know," Chloe said. "That's a very good idea, Eve." They both said, "Thank you." at the same time. Chloe sighed and walked away and Lucifer said, "So, well done, detective. Carlos, you can come with me back to Lux and we can plan out this party. You need to make sure that the security system is fully running." Carlos smirked a bit and walked away with Lucifer, Dude tailing behind. Eve squealed a bit, but then composed herself.
Lucifer and Carlos got back to Lux and Lucifer immediately went up to the penthouse and Carlos dropped Dude off in the guest suite. Carlos got things taken care of in the club and helped set up for the party. He went to grab Lucifer but Lucifer said, "I am not going." Carlos sighed and said, "D-Lucifer. You have to. You're the wealthy person that Moira is going to sell her business to. Without you, this won't work." Lucifer took off his sunglasses, scarf, and gloves and said, "Look at me, Carlos. I am turning into a monster. A true villain, like your mother. The prophecy is coming true. Because of Eve. Because of you. Because of me." Carlos sucked in a breath, "You blame me?" Lucifer sighed, "It doesn't matter. What's done is done. It happened. I guess this was meant to happen. Maybe if you could have told me sooner I could have been more prepared for this." Carlos glared at Lucifer, "You do blame me. Again, I am sorry that I didn't tell you earlier. I have trust issues, remember? When I first came here, I just wanted to find you and have you help me with my powers. I wanted to get to know you and build that trust."
"You deceived me," Lucifer argued. "No, I didn't," Carlos argued back. "I just kept the truth from you until I felt my trust in you was good. Haven't you kept the truth from anybody?" Lucifer went silent for that statement. Lucifer sighed, "It doesn't matter anymore. I can't stop this. Just leave me alone. I don't want you to associate yourself with a monster like me." Carlos sighed and walked to the elevator, "For the record, I do know that I am partially to blame. I am part of this prophecy and it's hurting you. But's it hurting me too. Because I feel like a monster for not telling you sooner when many people told me otherwise. Because I just want a connection with you that I don't have with my mom. So maybe we both have some things to atone for." The elevator doors closed and Carlos pulled out his phone and called Chloe, "Hey, Chloe, it's Carlos. Listen, I need you to add a stipulation to the party. And I need you to get some things for me."
Chloe came by a little later as the party got started with the things Carlos asked her and entered the penthouse, "Lucifer, where are you? The party started downstairs. Carlos got everything set up. The husband should be here soon." Lucifer sat in a chair nearby and said, "As I told Carlos, I'm not going. I thought this case would help me understand my self-hatred, stop what's happening to me, but I think it's time I face the truth." "What truth?" Chloe asked. "The prophecy," Lucifer answered. "It's coming true. Evil will be released, right? Thanks to me, and Eve, and Carlos. Well, the only question that remains is what kind of monster will I be when it's done releasing? Carlos was right, I have much to atone for, like him." Chloe sighed, "Lucifer, I'm going to have Father Kinley transferred to our holding cell. If anyone knows more about the prophecy, it's him. It will take a couple of hours, but we will figure this out. OK? Until then, I think it's best to keep you distracted." "I can't go downstairs, Detective," Lucifer argued. "I already explained this to Carlos. Between my sunglasses, scarf, and gloves, I'll look like Stevie Wonder on a snow day." Chloe smiled and pulled out a devil mask from her bag, "Don't worry. I got you covered."
Lucifer put the devil mask on along with his scarf and gloves and Chloe out on a black lace mask. They went down to the club and Lucifer looked around, "A masquerade party. Clever. Detective, you were right. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you." Chloe smiled, "I'm am not the only one to thank. Carlos has some credit too. He called me and told me to change the party to a masquerade and to bring you this mask. He's looking out for you too." Lucifer looked over and saw Carlos, wearing a black and white mask, playing on the piano alongside the stereo music. Chloe leaned in, "He still cares for you like I do." Lucifer smiled softly underneath his mask and said, "You're right. Maybe I was too harsh on him. He apologized for not revealing our blood connection sooner and he feels guilty as well. He doesn't deserve that." Chloe smiled, "Agreed. Now, all we have to do is wait for Megan's husband to arrive. Then you can take center stage and hopefully, he will take the bait. Oh, there is Moira. I'm going to make sure she is OK. You should go talk to your son."
Chloe walked to Moira and Lucifer stared at Carlos. He sighed, started to walk over to Carlos, but was stopped by Eve, "Hey." "Eve," Lucifer greeted. "Nice to see you. Now if you'll excuse me…" "So," Eve interrupted. "Everything is going according to plan, huh? I guess we make a pretty good team, huh?" "Indeed," Lucifer said, wanting to get past Eve and go to Carlos. Eve stalled him by saying, "So, when should I move my stuff back in?" Lucifer turned to Eve and asked, "What?" Eve giggled, "Luce, I saw the way you looked at me at the precinct. I understand that I wasn't giving you what you needed before, but I really think I can now."
Irritated, Lucifer grabbed Eve and pulled her to a corner and pulled his mask off, revealing his red eyes. "Oh, my God, Lucifer," Eve gasped. "Your eyes, are you OK? What's happening?" "Nothing," Lucifer revealed. "Just an end of the world prophecy being fulfilled thanks to me, you, and Carlos. But the only person I blame is myself. But maybe you can help me." Eve nodded, "Of course, anything." "Why don't you hate me?" Lucifer asked. "What do you mean?" Eve asked. Lucifer sighed, "I treated you terribly, I hurt you, I used you." "No, you didn't," Eve argued. "I did!" Lucifer retorted. "Deep down, I knew it wasn't gonna work, but I strung you along anyway for my own selfish wants, and pushed away the people I care about, so why don't you hate me?" Eve sighed, "Because I love you." Lucifer glared at her, "Well, you shouldn't."
Eve scoffed, "Why? Because of the Detective? Or because of that kid? Yes, this is all Carlos' fault. I thought I had pulled you away from him, but then he came crawling back and put lies into your head…" "Enough!" Lucifer shouted. "No one is to blame but me. I don't love you. And I don't think I ever did. And don't you go blaming that boy. He is more connected to me than you ever will be. More than you realize. So leave me be." Lucifer put his mask back on and walked away to cool down. Eve stood there shaking with sadness and anger. She took a sip of her drink to calm herself down.
Maze had entered the club and went straight to Carlos, who saw her and stopped playing, "Maze?" "Hey, kid," Maze said. "Can you help me with something?" She whispered into his ear and Carlos nodded. The lights in the club dimmed and Maze said into the microphone, "This is for a special girl. A grand gesture to help redefine things." Eve turned from where she was standing and stared at Maze. Carlos started to play the song and Maze started to sing,
Today's gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should have somehow realized
What you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now
Backbeat, the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart was out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now
And all the roads wee have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things
That I would like to say to you
But I don't know how
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonder wall
During the song, Eve was slowly making her way to Maze and Lucifer stood off to the side and commented, "Well, I'll be damned." The song ended and everyone clapped. Eve walked down to Maze and the two walked up to the entrance of the club. Eve whispered, "Maze, that was beautiful. Message received. Loud and clear." "Yeah?" Maze asked. "Yeah," Eve replied. "I know exactly what I need to do to get him back now, a grand gesture! Thank you." She hugged Maze and Maze felt betrayed. The two girls walked outside as Eve felt a plan start to appear in her head.
At LAPD, Ella was in her lab and Dan walked in, "Hey, Ella. Heard you were looking for me. What's up?" Ella turned to him, "I know it was you, Dan." Dan chuckled, "What are you talking about?" Ella sighed, "I went back and tracked down whose police cruiser was outside Tierning's office. It was yours. Which explains you going through that trash the other day in the conference room." Dan sighed, "You're right. Turn me in. I deserve it." "I'm not going to do that," Ella replied. "In fact, I scrubbed your cruiser's location history." "Why would you do that?" Dan asked. "Why would you help me out? It was unforgivable what I did." Ella walked up to him, "You weren't the one who barged into Lucifer's penthouse with a gun." Dan retorted, "I might as well have been. My daughter almost died because of what I did. A teenager almost died because of what I did. So why help me out? Why are you gonna let me off the hook? Why is everybody always letting me get away with so much BS?" "I'm not," Ella revealed. "I just think that you are in pain. More than any of us realize. And I think maybe now is the time to finally get some help!" Dan sighed and walked away from Ella.
Back at Lux, Lucifer was about to go and talk to Carlos when Carlos announced to the club, "I have a song too. One that reflects what's on my heart. And maybe someone else's too." Lucifer stopped and stared at Carlos, who started to play a ballad and sing along,
Here you are alone
And you deserve it
You have sins you must atone
And that's on you
You had a cause to serve
But did you serve it?
Or did you see yourself in a way that wasn't true
This is not your father's fairytale
And no, it's not your mother's fault you fail
So when your story comes to light
Make sure the story that they write goes
Once upon a time a boy tried harder
Once upon a time he tried again
Once upon a braver choice
He took a risk
He used his voice
And that will be my once upon a time
This time
Why tell all those lies?
You feel unworthy
Like there isn't solid ground for you to stand
But a stack of lies is not a firm foundation
You cannot build a castle on a mountain made of sand
This is not your mother's dark desire
And no, it's not your father's eyes on fire
Turns out it's you who's not awake
So if there's change you want to make take
Once upon a time he fought a dragon
Once upon a time the beast was me
Once upon a misspent youth
He faced himself
He spoke the truth
That's how I see my once upon a time
This time
Life is not a storybook but life unfolds in chapters
Turn the page and start to make amends
There's no pre-written guarantee of happy ever after
Step into your greatness before your story ends
So when your story ends they'll say
Once upon a time a boy flew higher
Once upon a time he made things right
Once upon a tie that binds
He changed their hearts
To change their minds
That's got to be my once upon a time
This once upon a time
I'll finally see my once upon a time
This time
Carlos knew that song after learning about it from Mal, and he poured his heart and soul into it. Lucifer stared at Carlos the entire time and realized that he was singing about what they both were feeling. The crowd clapped when Carlos was finished and Carlos stood up and made his way to Lucifer, "Listen, Lucifer, I know that you won't accept me as your son right away, especially since I kept this from you, but I just wanted you to know that I still care about you. Devil form and all." "Carlos," Lucifer replied.
But then Chloe came up and said, "Lucifer, Moira just got a call from Megan's husband." Carlos groaned as Chloe just broke the moment and Lucifer said, "Please tell me it's a fill confession so we can skip to the arrest." Chloe shook her head, "No, he's not coming. He couldn't bear to see the business sold." "So he is not the killer," Lucifer realized. "Which means this whole charade is a complete waste of time." He pulled up his mask and Chloe and Carlos gasped as his face was now his Devil face. "Dad," Carlos whispered. "Lucifer, your face," Chloe said. Lucifer saw his reflection in a nearby mirror and pulled it back down as Chloe said, "OK, I'm gonna call the precinct. Hopefully Kinley is there by now." Carlos walked forward and said, "We'll fix this. I promise." Lucifer looked over at Carlos and saw the sincerity in his eyes. Chloe's phone buzzed and answered it, "I was just about to call you. What's going on?" The officer on the other side replied, "Detective Decker, something's happened. It's Kinley. He's escaped thanks so some psycho chasing down the vehicle and running it off the road, and took him with them." Chloe gasped and Lucifer asked, "Detective, what is it?" Chloe hung up and said, "Father Kinley escaped." "What?" Carlos growled as his eyes started to flash red.
Kinley was broken out by Maze and Eve and they brought him back to Linda's house and tied him to a chair. Kinley smiled, "Thank you for helping me. God certainly sees us unusual assistance when we are most in need. But I must confess I'm not sure why you helped." Maze sighed angrily, "Me either." Eve then said, "Well, you know, I need to redefine things. Just like you suggested, Maze. It seems like Lucifer is clearly worried about this prophecy. That must be what's holding him back. Along with that stupid kid. And the father here can help him realize that the prophecy is all a bunch of nonsense. And then he can love me again. And I can be the important one in his life, and not that detective, or that kid." Kinley looked at Eve, "I'm familiar with the demon Mazikeen. But you are?" Eve smiled, "Oh. Forgive me, Father. I am Eve." Kinley realized, "Of course. The first woman. Lucifer's first love. "First and only," Eve replied as she knelt down next to Kinley. "Does this mean you'll help me?" Kinley sighed, "I'm sorry, my child, but now that I know who you are, the original sinner, I'm all the more convinced that the prophecy is real. Since you are here and the child that you keep talking about, the ones who hangs around with Lucifer." Eve groaned, "Carlos is not the kid of the prophecy." Maze paled a bit and Eve noticed, "Maze? Is the Father right?" Kinley chuckled, "You clearly didn't realize that the heir of the Devil was with you all along? How funny."
Back at Lux, Chloe and Carlos were trying to escort Lucifer to the entrance as Chloe said, "Lucifer, don't worry, we'll find Father Kinley. Let's go to the scene of the escape to see if we can find any clues." "OK," Lucifer replied. "Carlos we are going to need that mirror of yours to locate Kinley." "OK," Carlos said. Chloe nodded, Carlos having told Chloe about the mirror during the sleepover, then said, "Looks like our sting is a bust anyhow. And right now, your problems are far too important." "Yes, it appears so," Lucifer replied.
Suddenly a woman came up and said, "I want to divorce my husband." Lucifer sighed, "That's lovely for you to say, but now's not a good time." A man walked up and said, "I want to be famous." Several more people came up and started to reveal their deepest desires. Carlos felt the strain as his biology was fighting it like Chloe's was and Chloe said, "Lucifer, your mojo! It's affecting everyone." "We need to get him up to the penthouse," Carlos said. "He can't be around people right now." Lucifer nodded in agreement as he started to push threw the crowd as they continued to share their desires. Chloe suddenly heard a girl say, "I want that thumb drive. I need it!" Chloe turned to see a blonde woman in a white mask and grabbed her hand, "Come with me." Chloe dragged the masked lady into the elevator and Lucifer barged in. Carlos stood in front of the doors and commanded, "All of you need to step away now!" His eyes glowed red as the people obeyed and stepped away and Carlos stepped into the elevator and the doors closed.
Chloe took off the white mask of the mystery lady and noticed, "Beth! You're Megan's younger sister. Why did you want the thumb drive? You were at the scene of the crime." Beth was starting at Lucifer, but shook her head and answered, "I was showing that house." "You could've snuck away for a few minutes without anyone noticing." "Wait a minute, Chloe," Carlos said as he noticed Beth looking at Lucifer. "I have an idea. Let me try and do Lucifer's thing." He stepped in front of Beth and asked, "Why did you desire the files on the drive?" Beth revealed, "Because I didn't want anyone to know what I had done."
Meanwhile, Dan had taken Ella's advice and went to see Linda. He sat in her office and said, "Ever since Charlotte's death, I've been pretty angry at Lucifer. And it's felt pretty good. You know, to have someone to blame. But it's not his fault." Linda nodded and asked, "Who's fault is it?" Dan sighed, "I don't know." Linda nodded, "But you feel like it's your fault, don't you?" Dan started to tear up, "I've been doing some really stupid things lately. Like I'm trying to…I don't know." "Punishing yourself?" Linda asked. "There's nothing you could have done to save her. But that doesn't make the hurt any less, does it? It's a long road to dealing with a loss like this. But this is a good beginning. And I think that…" Linda suddenly stopped talking so Dan asked, "You think that what?" Linda stared at Dan and said, "That you need to take me to the hospital because my water just broke." Dan panicked and helped Linda up and to his car.
Linda texted Maze, who saw it and smiled with joy. She then remembered what she was in the middle of as Eve came over and asked, "You think you can maybe work your magic on the priest? Convince him that he is wrong about the prophecy, using your knives and other sharp objects?" Maze answered honestly, "I've tortured guys like Kinley before. He's a fanatic. Nothing I do will change his mind." Eve started to pace, "OK. That's OK. I just need to figure out another plan. I got this. Maybe it's Los Angeles, you know? Maybe I just need to take Lucifer out of town. Away from that detective and that kid. To just be us again, you know? Just us. No distractions. That will show the detective that I am his love. And that will show the little brat that I am more important in Lucifer's life. I don't believe the Father that he is Lucifer's son, he's just using his illusion ring to trick…." "Enough!" Maze shouted. "Lucifer doesn't love you! I'm sorry, but sometimes you have to accept when someone doesn't feel the same way about you. Lucifer cares for Chloe more than you. Heck, he cares for Carlos more than you because Carlos is his son! A kid who had a crap childhood and wants his Dad's love and attention. And that ring of his, the Ring of Envy, hasn't affected Lucifer at all. I think it only brought out envy….yours." Eve looked put off so Maze said, "I have to go." She stormed past Kinley and left the house.
Back at Lucifer's penthouse, Chloe sat Beth down, Carlos sat net to Chloe, and Lucifer stood in his bedroom looking out the window. Beth started to explain, "Moira and Megan were the perfect sisters. And I was the black sheep. Always screwing up. Barely even trusted with showing the houses. Moira never believed in me. But Megan knew I could do better, so when I asked if I could help with the finances…." "She kept it secret," Carlos finished for her. Beth nodded, "And then I heard about a sure-thing investment. And I was going to use those profits and start my own business. Pay them back, prove to them that I wasn't what they thought. So I borrowed the money." "How much did you lose?" Chloe asked. Beth revealed, "All of it. She said that Moira was right. I ruin everything I touch. I just lost it. I don't remember grabbing the hammer. I barely remember giving that tour and pretending to find her body. And here is the worst part. I couldn't bring myself to tell the truth. Even if it meant my own sister going to jail. Maybe Moira was right about me, maybe I do ruin everything I touch."
"She was right," Lucifer said from the other room. "You should've stayed away from everyone you cared about." Beth started to tear up and Carlos said, "You know, I understand being a black sheep. In fact, every kid I grew up with felt like the black sheep, Because no matter how many times we tried, we could never please our families. When all we wanted was their love. Just like you with your sisters. So yeah, maybe hiding this wasn't the smartest thing to do. But you can't hide who you are and what you did. Even though telling the truth is hard, you have to eventually or it will eat you up inside. And from one black sheep to another, just because you ruin things doesn't mean that you don't deserve love." Lucifer froze at Carlos' words, because like with the song he sang earlier, what he just said reflected his own feelings and as Carlos looked up at Lucifer, Lucifer realized that Carlos was saying those words not just to Beth, but to him as well.
Maze had run all the way to the hospital, Dan was in the lobby and showed Maze where Linda was. Maze ran into Linda's hospital room where Amenadiel was already standing next to her, holding her hand as she was in full labor. Maze ran over and Linda looked up and smiled. Linda then pushed through another contraction as the delivery of her baby dear near.
Chloe had called an officer up to arrest Beth and take her away. When thee officer left with Beth, Carlos got up off the couch and asked, "Should we go find Kinley?" Chloe nodded and shouted, "Alright, Lucifer, let's go. Kinley's only a couple hours ahead of us." "And I can track him using my mirror," Carlos added. Suddenly they saw Dude run out of Lucifer's bedroom shouting, "Carlos!" as he ran in between Carlos' legs and whimpered. Carlos groaned, "Dude, what are you doing in the penthouse? You had plenty of space in the guest suite." "Sorry," Dude said. "I got bored and came up here. Lucifer has a bigger bed. But now I'm scared."
"I'm afraid it's too late," Lucifer called out. "Well," Chloe replied. "I know with your mojo going crazy, it's gonna be difficult, but we'll avoid the crowds and, you know, I think if we use…." Lucifer stepped out and revealed that he was in full Devil form now, demon wings and all. Dude whimpered at Carlos' feet, "Told you it was a scary emergency." Lucifer looked down, "It's too late. My wings won't go back in. This is who I am now." Chloe and Carlos stared at Lucifer in shock.
At the hospital, Maze stood watch outside Linda's room as Linda and Amenadiel gazed at their newborn son. Linda said, "Hi, sweetie. No wings yet." "Yeah," Amenadiel replied. "I think I have a name." "Oh, Amenadiel," Linda said. "I don't know…" "What about Charlie?" Amenadiel interrupted. "After Charlotte." Linda smiled, "I love it. Charlie, meet Dad." Linda handed Charlie to Amenadiel and Amenadiel looked down at his son, "You know, we still don't have a middle name." He looked back at Linda and saw that she was asleep. Amenadiel sighed and looked back at Charlie, "It doesn't really matter what your name is. They are going to love you in the Silver City. Where you'll be safe forever."
Meanwhile, Eve was saying to herself, "OK, I can do this. All I need to do is get Lucifer out of LA. Away from those two attention seekers. That's all I need. But where? Vegas? Paris! Or we could just go on a deserted island where it can be the two of us." Kinley interrupted, "Pardon me, my child. I think I may have a way to help you, after all." Eve looked at Kinley, "What do you mean?" Kinley smiled, "I know a place you could go with him. Where he could get away from the bad influence he's had here. Where you could be together for eternity. Where he could be a king again." "You mean Hell?" Eve asked. "Yeah, I don't think Lucifer wants to go back there." Kinley suggested, "Perhaps Lucifer simply needs a reason to go back. After all, he's never been there before with a queen by his side. And you could take his heir with him to either succeed Lucifer one day or you could send him back from wherever he came from. Since you clearly hate the boy."
Eve then asked, "Why are you helping me?" Kinley replied, "I've dedicated my life to preventing the prophecy. If you and Lucifer were to go to Hell together and either take the boy with you or return him to his original home, well that would accomplish that. It would solve all of our problems." Eve thought about it, "But I wouldn't even know how to convince him to go back." Kinley chuckled, "Well, perhaps remind him of the warm welcome that awaits him down there. All his adoring subjects, eagerly awaiting his return. Along with a queen, and possibly a prince, depending on what you want." Eve smiled and said, "Yeah, that actually gives me an idea. Maze said that demons can enter the bodies of the recently dead. So, if one of his subjects could rise up from Hell, maybe they'd convince him." She loosened one tie from his hands and continued, "Now all we need is someone to deliver the message down to Hell. You know, someone who's about to die, and is definitely headed down there."
She loosened the other tie, but then Kinley jumped up and grabbed onto her throat and threw her to the ground, choking her, as he said, "I'm so sorry, I really would like to help, but there's simply too much at stake. So the simplest way to stop the prophecy is to simply remove Lucifer's first love from the equation. Then I will go after the heir and remove him." Eve struggled to breath, and saw one of Maze's knives tied to the bottom of a chair. She pulled it out and stabbed Kinley in the neck. Kinley fell down next to her and started to bleed out from his neck wound. Eve stood up and got her breath as she looked down and realized, "Oh, my God! You can deliver the message. This is your way of stopping the prophecy. When you get down there, you tell them to come and get their king, OK? You tell them to come and help me save Lucifer." Kinleey struggled to speak, "Why would you think I'm going to Hell?" Eve stared at Kinley, "Just a hunch." Kinley then took his final breath and died right there.
Back at the penthouse, Chloe and Carlos were staring at Lucifer while Lucifer said, '"I know why I hate myself. Because everything I touch, I ruin. From rebellion against Dad to now. Look at what I put you through, Chloe. You gone through a lot because of me. Look at what I put you through, Carlos. I left you alone with your psycho mother while she abused you and made you her slave. I hate that I am poison to anyone who dares to care about me. And especially the both of you." Lucifer turned and walked away. Chloe took a deep breath, "Lucifer, this isn't about me. I'm OK. I haven't crumbled into a million pieces. I'm still here. And I'm fine." Lucifer scoffed, "If I turn around, will you be fine or will you look away in horror?" "It doesn't matter," Chloe argued. "Of course it does, Detective," Lucifer retorted.
"She's right," Carlos said as he ripped off his ring and his white hair returned. "It doesn't matter. Because this isn't about her. Or me. This is about you." Chloe added, "I'm not gonna let you use me as an excuse to avoid dealing with what is behind all of this. You always talk about how much you hate being blamed for humanity's sins. And I think I know why you hate it so much, because deep down, you blame yourself just as much, if not more! You have to stop taking responsibility for things you can't control." "Exactly," Carlos added. "You couldn't control peoples' actions. Like you couldn't control what my mother did to me. You can't blame yourself because you didn't know that I existed. And I don't blame you for that. My mother is responsible for her own actions against me. She was the one to abuse me, she was the one who made me do all the chores for her, she was the one who called me a freak. And I thought that she was right, that I was a freak, because of my powers and because of how I look, but then I came here, looking for you. So that I could meet you and get to know you, so that you could help me learn who I am. And you have helped me so much. And when I got these…"
He unfurled his wings which startled Chloe a bit as he continued, "I finally realized who I am. I may be the son of Cruella De Vil, but I also the son of Lucifer Morningstar. And I don't hate who I am because of my lineage. I accept it and I am proud of it, flaws and all. And you actually gave a damn about me when my own mother didn't. And I am eternally grateful for that. Because I care for you, Dad. And you don't need my forgiveness for the things that you have done to me since I've known you. Because I already forgave you." Chloe added, "And what you need to do now is forgive yourself." "I can't," Lucifer whispered. "Why?" Chloe asked. "Because I don't know how to," Lucifer revealed. "But I want to. For both of you."
He turned around and stared at Chloe and Carlos as his human form was returning. Chloe gasped and Carlos cried a little. Lucifer looked down at himself and saw that he was returning to normal. "I think you just took the first step," Chloe said. "And I think you can take another right now." She pointed to Carlos and Lucifer looked over and said, "Carlos. I am sorry for not knowing about you and for everything you went through. I understand know that I couldn't have known and you were the one to tell me the truth. I didn't accept it at first, but now I do. And I am sorry for pushing you away. You are my son, and I care for you very much." Carlos start to sob and he ran over and hugged Lucifer, "Dad." Lucifer was shocked by the hug, but quickly reciprocated and mumbled, "My son." over and over again along with, "I will protect you from now on. I will show you the love that you truly deserve." Chloe smiled at the reunion of father and son. Lucifer looked over at Chloe and said, "It looks like evil won't be released after all."
But back at Kinley's dead body, his eyes suddenly opened as now a demon has possessed it, meaning Eve's message got through….
