Two months had passed since Lucifer went back to Hell. Everyone lived on, but Lucifer's presence was missed. Amenadiel took over the running of Lux and Chloe kept on being a detective, despite missing her partner. Linda was learning how to be a mom, and Maze kept up her bounty hunting.
Lucifer had been readjusting to being king of Hell again but the days were lonely. Without Chloe. Without Carlos. He always had the blue stone Carlos gave him and he was tempted many times to go and visit Carlos, but he knew that he couldn't, not yet. He also wanted to visit Chloe, but it wasn't time yet either. There was still unrest in Hell.
But one day, he heard that a person he was familiar with had just entered Hell so he went to visit him. It turned out to be Lee and he entered the room in Hell Lee was being tortured in and was surprised to find himself on a yacht. He went to the main bedroom and poured himself a drink as Lee entered the room wearing a gold speedo. Lee was startled by Lucifer's presence, as Lucifer just said, "I heard you were here, so I thought I'd pay you a visit." Lee shook his head, "No way, man! You got to go!" Lucifer scoffed, "Well, frankly, I was expecting a tad warmer reception, Mr. Said Out Bitch." Lee sighed, "Don't get me wrong. I am grateful for all the money and the gold you gave me last time. But I'm gonna have to catch you on the flip side, because for once, things are going really well for me. And every time I run into you, bad things happen." "Right," Lucifer replied. "Well, this is gonna get awkward, then." "Why?" Lee asked. Lucifer answered, "Something bad is about to happen, but I assure you, it has nothing to do with me." "What are you talking about?" Lee asked. Lucifer smiled, "Someone is about to walk through that door and murder you. Lee laughed, "That's funny. There's no way that's going to happen." Lucifer sighed, "Oh, I assure you, it most certainly will happen. In fact, it's happened over 200 times already, and it will happen again in five, four, three, two…" Lucifer stood and walked next to Lee as a masked gunman walked in and shot Lee in the chest. Lee slumped to the ground and asked, "What the hell?" Lucifer smiled, "Precisely."
Up on Earth, the LAPD were on Lee's yacht as it was turned into a crime scene and they were investigating Lee's death. Ella was photographing his body, "Victim is Lee Garner, 53, career criminal. Armed robbery, burglary, but mostly small time stuff. Although he might not be so small time anymore, 'cause this foshizzle is all his." Chloe was standing nearby and taking notes when she asked, "This what?" Ella answered, "The Foshizzle. Name of the boat, Foshizzle." "Oh," Chloe replied. "Cause of death?" Ella answered, "Gunshot wound to the chest. Oh, and if that wasn't messed up enough, the killer also did this. Cut clean off his hand at the wrist, post-mortem. We're still looking for the hand."
Chloe turned to Maze, who along with bounty hunting was also helping with police work, and asked, "What do you think?" Maze looked at the victim, "I think I boned him." Chloe sighed, "Maze, just because you happened to have slept with that one murder victim a few weeks ago doesn't mean that you slept with them all." Maze asked, "How am I supposed to keep up, Chloe?" "With the murder victims or the people you've slept with?" Chloe retorted. "Either," Maze answered. "Wow," Ella said. "Maze is really settling into her role as your new Lucifer." Chloe explained, "Well, in her capacity as a bounty hunter for the LAPD, she has graciously been helping me with my cases."
"Yeah," Ella agreed. "It's like Lucifer never left. But he did leave. I mean, at least you guys got to say goodbye. Me? Ghosted completely. And it's been what, two months since he moved to Florida to help with his family's business?" Chloe nodded and lied, "Florida yes. That's where he is." Ella sighed, "He hasn't responded to a single one of my texts or DMs. Not even that video I sent him of the parakeet dancing to techno. That was funny. But as far as I'm concerned, well, he can go to Hell. But Carlos? That kid is sweet and I miss him. He at least said goodbye before he left to go finish his junior year and help with that wedding of his friend or something. And he has been responding to my texts which is awesome. But why he didn't go with Lucifer is anyone's guess."
"Hey, Ellen," Maze interrupted, "Read the room." Ella saw the sad look on Chloe's face and said, "Chloe, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to bring up the "L" word or the "C" word. It's just that I miss that crazy dude and his awesome kid, you know? Even though I was shocked that Lucifer even has a kid. Who know?" Chloe sighed, "It's OK. I completely understand. And to be honest, I have been working so much. We've been working so much, I haven't even had a chance to stop and think about it, really. You know, I haven't even thought about it. Anyhow, speaking of work, any leads?" Ella shook her head, "None yet, but I'll have more when I get everything back to the lab." Chloe nodded, "OK, great. Call me if anything comes up." "You got it," Ella replied. "OK," Chloe said. "Until then, Maze, I do believe we have other work to do."
The two went to Lux and danced the night away as they needed to let off some steam. Two man approached them and once said, "Do you ladies wanna dance? "Cause on a scale from one to ten, you two are nines, and we're the ones you need." Chloe and Maze looked at each other, then the guys and said, "Nah, we're good." They continued dancing as the two guys walked away. Amenadiel saw them from higher up and walked down to the dance floor and said, "So you guys are back, again." "Amenadiel!" Chloe hugged the angel. "What's up?" Maze asked. "Yeah, we just can't help it," Chloe replied. "Since you took over Lux, it's just been so much fun." Amenadiel smiled, "I'm starting to see why Lucifer enjoyed spending so much time here. Plus, the security system Carlos put in place at top of the line." He looked up and saw two men trying to do a drug deal so Amenadiel said, "Excuse me, ladies." He walked up as one of the two men left and Amenadiel walked up to the remaining man, "Did I just witness a drug deal?" The man lied, "No, man. Of course not. Look, I'm gonna bail, so…" Amenadiel stopped him, "Look, Lux is under new management, which means new rules. No one sells drugs in my place, without me getting a piece of the action."
Chloe and Maze walked up to the bar and ordered drinks as Maze toasted, "Let the good times roll." "Amen," Chloe said as she drank her vodka. She wanted to drink away her sorrows about Lucifer. She didn't have any way to contact him, but she did have a way to contact Carlos, as the boy gave her his phone number and made her phone possible to contact him while he was in another dimension of Earth. "Hopefully you can come back soon, Carlos," Chloe thought. "Along with your dad."
Carlos returned home after saying his goodbyes to everyone in LA and giving them his phone number so that they could stay in touch, even through different dimensions. When they asked why he was leaving, he just said, "I made a promise to a person I love. Plus, I need to finish my junior year and a friend of mine is getting married." When he arrived back in Auradon, he was greeted by all of his friends. Carlos told them all what happened after he went back to LA a couple months ago and they were shocked to say the least. About his new angel wings, about the demons of Hell almost turning Carlos into their new King, etc. Mal was upset that she wasn't called to Carlos' rescue, but she was at least glad that Jane saved him. Carlos did have the occasional nightmare about his kidnapping by the demons, but he kept those to himself. Mal, Jay, Evie, Ben, Uma, and others graduated from their senior year and Carlos and Jane finished their junior year. Carlos did get to fly around Auradon with Jane and Mal in dragon form. Life seemed good. But Carlos was always missing his dad and wanted to see him again. "I hope you are doing well, Dad," Carlos thought one day when he was flying over the sea. "I miss you."
Lucifer was still with Lee in Hell as Lee asked, "So, I didn't just die?" Lucifer explained, "Well, as I was trying to tell you before we were so rudely interrupted, you are now in your very own Hell loop. So, welcome to Hell." "I'm in Hell?" Lee asked. "I don't understand." "Eternal damnation?" Lucifer retorted. "Infinite suffering? It's a pretty straightforward concept." Lee shook his head, "No, I mean, like Hell Hell?" "The one and only," Lucifer replied. "Then get me the hell out of here!" Lee demanded. Lucifer chuckled, "It's not up to me, I'm afraid. In Hell, you are your own jailer. You brought yourself here." "Then I'm gonna take myself on up outta here, then," Lee said.
He walked through one door, and ended up coming back in through another door, "How in the hell?" Lucifer shook his head, "Same response every time, and it's not that simple." Lee started to freak out, "But why am I here?" Lucifer sighed, "Well, that's between you and your own guilt. It's what brought you here, and it's what will torture you now through the end of time. And now we're crossing into the country of Boring, so time for me to self-deport. Please. Enjoy your eternity of suffering." Lucifer turned to leave, but Lee said, "Wait man. You can't go. You can't just leave me here alone." "No," Lucifer replied. "You won't be alone. My demons will always be on hand, torturing you and such, so chin up, mate." "At least tell me who killed me," Lee begged. "Not my job anymore," Lucifer replied. "I'm sorry, but this really is about you and your eternal pain, OK? And you can't persuade me to give into your demands, only someone like Carlos….can." "Who?" Lee asked. Lucifer shook his head, "Never mind. Enjoy."
Lee sighed, "But I had everything. I mean, this beautiful boat in Marina del Rey, women, money, I had it all." Lucifer turned around, "Marina del Rey? Los Angeles. You know, there's a good chance I know who's on your case. We were quite a team, once upon a time. I mean, to them, it's only been a few months, a blink of an eye, but down here, it's been much, much longer." Lee scoffed, "That long? Once upon a time, indeed." That last statement shook Lucifer as he pulled out the blue stone from his pocket as he heard Carlos in his head singing a song from long ago, "My Once Upon a Time" and Lucifer found himself singing quietly,
Life is not a story book but life unfolds in chapters
Turn the page and start to make amends
There's no prewritten guarantee of happy ever after
Step into your greatness before your story ends
"Before your story ends," Lucifer repeated. "That's it. This is your lucky day." "What?" Lee asked. Lucifer smiled, "I'm gonna do something I haven't done in ages, for old times' sake. I am going to solve your murder and make sure that your story closes with some clarity."
Lee stood up and asked, "Wait, so how is this gonna work? Is the killer gonna come through that door and shoot me again? 'Cause that hurt." Lucifer nodded, "Usually, ye, but me being the Lord of Hell does have its perks." Suddenly the gunman walked through the door and shot at Lee again, but Lucifer froze the moment, which shocked Lee. "You see," Lucifer explained. "Everyone in your Hell loop is played by a demon. I have control over them. Especially after a very short uprising. Give us a wave, Belios." Belios waved and Lee measly waved back, "So, if you can freeze them, then it should be easy to figure out who the killer is, right? I mean, I can just lift this up and…" Lee lifted the mask and was shocked to find a blank face. Lucifer sighed, "Again, not that simple. See, your Hell loop is made up entirely of your own memories. You never saw your killer's face, hence a big nothing. No offense, Belios. And take the rest of the day off. You've certainly earned it. Since you've always stayed on my good side and weren't part of the rogue faction." Belios walked out and Lee asked, "So, how are we gonna find my killer, then?" Lucifer smiled, "With good old fashioned detective work, mon frere. And lucky for you, I learned from the best. So, step one. Who wanted you dead?"
Meanwhile, Chloe was interviewing Lee's sister, Meg, at LAPD and Meg was explaining, "Lee owed a lot of people money. My brother always ran with a sketchy crowd. He'd spend money he didn't have, get into debt, steal to pay it back. Wait, is it too bright in here for you, Detective?" Chloe was wearing sunglasses as she was nursing a hangover, so she took over the sunglasses and said, "No, I just have a light sensitivity thing. So, when they found your brother, he was on a very expensive yacht that he owned. Maybe he turned his life around." Meg scoffed, "Yeah. That'd be a first. My brother was a magnet for bad people, bad things. He was forever stuck in this vicious cycle. He was probably just riding a high. He was bound to come down sooner or later." Chloe asked, "Do you have any idea why someone would want to cut off his hand?" Meg was shocked, "They cut off his hand? My God, why?" Chloe sighed, "It's what we're trying to figure out. You don't recognize that as any kind of message?" Meg sighed, "I haven't seen Lee in years. I can't even say I really knew the man anymore. If that's a message, It's not one that I know how to read."
Suddenly Maze held up a man to the conference room window and shouted, "Decker, got a lead." Chloe sighed and thanked Meg for her time as she followed Maze to the interrogation room and Maze forced the man to sit and she demanded, "Tell her what you told me." The man sighed, "Word on the street is that Lee guy got whacked by Dirty Doug." "Who the hell's Dirty Doug?" Chloe asked. "Doug Sargisian?" the man asked. "Guy rans a mob-backed high-stakes poker game at the H Club? I heard from my boy K-Swiss, who heard it from his boy 8-Ball, that Lee owed him a bunch of money. So Doug did him in, and then cut off his hand to send a message." "What's the message?" Chloe asked. "If you don't pay up, then you're, like, stealing?" The man nodded, "Kind of on the nose, if you ask me, but hey, message received, 'cause I owe Dirty Doug a ton of cash that I don't have. All right? That's why I was bailing, until Angry Bird here ended those plans."
Maze leaned in to Chloe, "Looks like we're gonna need to pay Doug a visit." Chloe sighed, "A guy like Doug's gonna…" "Lawyer up?" Maze finished. Chloe nodded, "First sign of police. We need…" Maze started but Chloe finished, "Leverage." "I know what you're thinking," Maze said. Chloe sighed, "Might be the only way." Maze asked, "But what about…" "It's dangerous," Chloe interrupted. Maze then suggested, "Then, what if we…." Chloe interrupted again, "He'll see it coming." Maze thought for a moment, then smiled, "I have an idea." Chloe realized what is was, "Absolutely not, Maze. You should be ashamed of yourself." "Fine!" Maze retorted. "We'll do it your way." "Good," Chloe replied. "So we agree to the plan?" Maze nodded, "We'll pose as high-end poker players, get into the game, get Doug to slip up, lean on him, get him to confess." The man chuckled and Maze asked, "Something funny?" The man answered, "Don't get me wrong, you two snacks are welcome at my card table anytime. But Dirty Doug's game defines exclusive. All right? Invite only, and y'all ain't getting invites." Chloe sighed, "I know someone who could have gotten us an invite." Maze sighed, "You don't need Lucifer, and I don't need….I will get us an invite."
Meanwhile, Ella went over to Linda's house and Linda welcomed her in, "Thank you so much for coming." Ella replied, "Well, thanks so much for inviting me. Yeah, I brought all the stuff you requested, but your message didn't say why you needed it." Linda explained, "Well, it's for Charlie, of course. Yeah, I was hoping that you could teach him some science. Yeah, I'm a firm believer in a strong STEM foundation." Ella replied, "Oh, yeah. Science, technology, engineering, math. Super important. But isn't Charlie, like, two months old?" Linda nodded, "Oh, I know what you're thinking. But Charlie is a special child." "Yeah," Ella replied. "Every child is special in their mom's eyes, huh?" Linda chuckled, "Yeah, no, but Charlie's actually special. That's why the classical music, the science lessons, baby pilates, it's all to harness his full potential, which is something the world has never seen. Well, this world. Well, here. I'll show you. I'll show you with the periodic table. Charlie, where'e boron?" Charlie actually pointed to it and Linda said, "See? Yes! That's…Yes, babasquat, that's it! See, that's boron." Ella didn't know what to make of it, "Wow! Yeah, that was…amazing." "Yeah!" Linda agreed. "Having children is such a gift. Have you ever thought about having kids?" Ella sighed, "Sure, yeah, I guess, I mean, but, you know, kind of missing the dude part of the equation at the moment, and this chica had terrible taste in men. Drawn to the bad boys for some reason. But you know, for once I'm thinking, I deserve a good guy, you know? And then one day I'll have those kids, maybe have a kid like Carlos." Linda nodded, "So science lessons. Wednesdays at 11 AM? I checked your schedule, and that's your day off." Ella sighed, "Sure, yeah. Wednesdays are great."
Over at LAPD, Amenadiel went there to talk about the drug stuff happening at Lux, and he stopped and asked, "What is that smell?" Dan appeared behind him, "Success. Essential oils, man. What you're smelling is called Success. I'm all out of Strength, but if you want, I could hook you up with some Hope." He led Amenadiel to his desk and offered a bottle, but Amenadiel shook his head, "No, I'm good." "All right," Dan said as he put the bottle away. Amenadiel saw all of the papers and posters on Dan's desk wall and said, "So I see you're really diving into this whole self-improvement thing." Dan nodded, "Oh, yeah, man. Yeah, I was in a bad place. Dealing with a bunch of guilt and stuff. But you know what? I started to work on myself, and it was such an awakening. We've never even scratched the surface of our true human potential. You ever CrossFit?" Amenadiel shook his head and Dan responded, "Aw, come on! No!" Amenadiel interrupted, "But, listen, I want you to know, Dan, that I think all of this personal reflection is a really good thing." Dan smiled, "Thank you man."
Dan sat down and Amenadiel did as well as Dan asked, "What's up? Why'd you stop by?" "To report a crime," Amenadiel revealed. Dan sighed, "Amenadiel, you got to stop playing vigilante. You can't make citizen's arrests on jaywalkers and littering." "There was a sign," Amenadiel retorted. "It was clearly forbidden." "The kid was three years old," Dan retorted back. Amenadiel sighed, "Well, this is totally different, Dan. Now, I have been deep, deep undercover at Lux, Lucifer's den of sin, and I have finally gained the trust of a real, big time drug dealer." Dan sighed, "You need to give up on this, man." "Dan," Amenadiel argued. "I want to help. I need to help. All right? I need to help make the world a safer place. Now, I may have gone about it the wrong way. at first, but this is a good case, Dan. It's a good case against a legit drug dealer. Be the change, right?" Amenadiel pointed to a posted behind Dan's head and Dan sighed, realizing he had a point.
Maze walked past them straight to Chloe's desk and held out a card and said, "Told ya I'd get us an invite to Dirty Doug's poker game." Chloe smiled, "I never doubted you, partner. Wait, Maze, is that blood on the card?" Maze huffed, "Don't worry about it." She walked away as Chloe sighed. She pulled out her phone and she scrolled through her contacts and Carlos' name came up. She smiled and decided to send a quick text to see how the boy was doing. Carlos replied back saying that he was busy with a big event for his friend but was glad to hear from Chloe.
Now that big event was Ben and Mal's wedding. Audrey was planning it, which made Carlos chuckle as Audrey was an interesting choice given what Audrey did during her "Queen of Mean" phase, but Mal allowed it along with Evie and Ben. Mal was still getting ready with Evie styling her dress and makeup and Dizzy doing her hair. Dude was sitting at the entrance making sure people not invited didn't get in, like squirrels and birds, which made Carlos laugh. He and Jay were on usher duty and were standing at the entrance of the church and welcoming people in. "Welcome," Jay told one guest as they walked up the steps. Jay turned to see Uma walking up, "Uma! Up top!" Uma didn't give him a high five so Jay said, "I mean…Welcome to the Royal Wedding. Um…My lady, Uma?" Uma chuckled, "Just stick to "Uma", Jay. That's my name." Uma walked up to the top of the steps where Carlos was and Uma said, "Ah, angel boy. Haven't seen you for a while." Carlos chuckled, "Yeah. I've been back for a while, remember?" Uma laughed, "Just playing with you. But you were gone for a while. Things with your dad go down the drain?" Carlos frowned, "No, it's just….he had to go back to Hell. Because he wanted to make sure…." "I get it," Uma said. "Your dad wanted to protect you. Mal let some things slip. Just know that you were missed by me and my pirates. Welcome back." Carlos grinned, "Thanks, Uma. You can go in and sit on the bride's side."
As Uma walked in, another car pulled up and Jay recognized it as Hades' car. Jay opened the door and said, "Father of the bride! Welcome!" Hades stepped out and people in the church opening saw him and ran inside. Hades growled and walked up the steps, Jay ran after him, "Nice do. Want me to show you inside?" Hades growled at Jay and Jay backed away. Hades walked up and stopped when he saw Carlos. He growled at Carlos, but Carlos said, "Chill out. You're doing great." Hades got confused and said, "You smell different. More….celestial. Interesting." Hades walked past Carlos and Jay whispered, "You calmed him down. How did you do that?" Carlos shrugged, "I just stayed calm and talked to him. It always works with my dad. Plus, I've seen worse." Carlos' eyes grew sad and Jay said, "Hey, I know you miss your dad. But I'm sure you'll see him again." Carlos nodded.
Suddenly they heard barking and the boys saw lizard Maleficent ran past them and Dude on her tail. The boys turned to see Ben running up the steps. Ben asked, "Did you see Dude and the mother of the bride come by here?" "They ran inside," Carlos answered. "And," Jay added. "You just missed the father of the…."
Suddenly, they saw smoke come out of the church and people started to run out and say, "Hades has gone mad. Help!" Carlos' eyes glowed red, "I'm going in." Carlos ran into the smoke and shouted, "Exit is this way! Everybody needs to proceed to the nearest emergency exit now!" Everyone ran out of the church and Hades stomped past Carlos, Jay, and Ben and went to his car and drove off. Carlos ran to the alter and unfurled his wings as Uma ran out and said, "I can't believe this. Hades just toasted the whole wedding." They heard Carlos shout, "Everyone stand clear of the church." Ben, Jay, and Uma ran down the steps as Carlos used his wings to flap the air and send smoke out of the church and used the wind to put out the remaining fires. Once all the smoke was out, he saw that several of the banners were scorched and one of the vases was on the floor and water dripping out of it. Uma ran after Hades and Ben asked, "Where are you going?" Uma shouted back, "Hold up. You're gonna need backup." Ben ran after her as Carlos flew to the entrance and landed next to Jay, who said, "I will never get use to the fact that you have wings now." Carlos folded the wings behind his back and they disappeared as he said, "The place is ruined. We need to find Hades to figure out what happened." "He scorched the place, that's what happened!" Jay shouted. Carlos shook his head, "I think there's more to this than we know. We need to let Mal and Evie know."
Back in Hell, Lucifer and Lee were still in Lee's Hell loop as they were going through Lee's memories of his last encounter with Dirty Dan. They were in an elevator and Lucifer scoffed, "That's what you were wearing?" Lee replied, "Hey, man, I love this suit. And yes, I clearly remember I had this bad boy on when I got so badly in debt with that guy." "And how much did you owe?" Lucifer asked. Lee revealed, "Like, $700,000, give or take a few." "For that much, I'd have killed you myself," Lucifer said. Lee gave him a look as the elevator doors opened and Lucifer said, "After you." They walked into a posh casino room and Lucifer walked around and went outside to the balcony, "Exquisite Hell loop. City of Angels, I've missed you." Lee tapped him on the shoulder, "Hey. He's the guy I owe. Dirty Doug." Lee pointed to a bald white guy and Lucifer saw the man walk over to them.
In reality, Doug was at the same place, but at nighttime and he was walking over to Chloe and Maze and said, "Evening, ladies." "Hi," Maze greeted. "Evening," Chloe greeted. "We are here to play poker." Doug nodded and said, "Then enjoy. Get some drinks and pick a table." The girls nodded and went to get some drinks and Chloe said, "This shouldn't be too hard. Just need to lose, rack up a huge debt. And Dirty Doug will approach us again." 'Got it," Maze said as they both tried to sit in a seat at the same time and Maze whispered, "What are you doing sitting in my seat? You are supposed to be the arm candy." "Like hell!" Chloe whispered back. "Look at you. Your dress couldn't be any sluttier. I'm fin the sensible pants suit." "When did you last play poker?" Maze asked. "Exactly," Chloe argued. "The point is to lose." Maze sighed, "Fine," as she stood up and let Chloe in the seat. Chloe nervously chuckled, "Oh, Texas Hold'Em. So exciting."
Meanwhile, Lucifer asked Lee, "So, what can you tell me about ol' Dougie Doug here?" "Not much," Lee revealed. "Just that he seems like a really scary powerful man." "Obviously," Lucifer retorted. "He's got a skinhead and neck tats. What would she do? Oh, yes. Give me all the usual background info. What about his priors? Any speeding tickets, overdue library books?" "How the hell am I supposed to know any of that?" Lee asked. Lucifer froze the loop and asked, "Is there anything you can tell me?" "Not really," Lee replied. "I mean, I'm pretty sure he killed me. There's that. But we weren't exactly buddies. Man, I don't know what else you want from me." Lucifer then unfroze the loop.
Chloe was actually winning her poker game and Maze whispered, "Decker, what are you doing?" "I'm winning, can you believe it?" Chloe whispered back. "Yeah," Maze replied. "But you're supposed to be losing." "I know," Chloe said. "But I never win." Maze griped her shoulder and said, "Fine. All in."
Lee also put all in during his poker game hell loop and said, "This was the beginning of the end for me." Lucifer nodded, "Oh, good, good. Finally we're getting somewhere. So, what happens next?" Lee revealed, "Now Doug offers me a marker, which, unfortunately, I take."
Chloe lost all her money and when she and Maze were over at the bar, Doug came over, "Wow, you were really killing it there for a while." Chloe nodded, "Yeah. I was." Doug chuckled, "Well, you know, if you want to keep the party going, keep playing, I could offer you a marker." "One question about that," Chloe replied. "What happens if I can't pay you back?" "Yeah," Maze agreed. "We heard stories. About people getting dead." Doug said, "You're referring, hypothetically, of course, to a certain gentleman in Marina del Rey. Look, I'm a reasonable man, as long as you're working to pay me back, or you can buy a boat instead, and end up with a bullet in your head." Maze smirked, "Sounds like a confession to me." "Maze, not exactly," Chloe argued. "Remember, Lee was shot in the chest." Doug realized something was up.
Lucifer meanwhile argued, "That's it? That's the marker? He just gives you a gold coin? No contingencies? No stipulations or threats?" Lee shook his head, "That's it." Lucifer sighed, "Well, there's got to be something more to indicate Doug's actually your murderer. Some hidden clue. A sign. Well, you've got to give me more than this. Something, anything, Detective. Where's Carlos when you need him?" Lucifer realized his slip up as Lee asked, "Who? Is Carlos this Detective?" Lucifer frowned, "No. But you are useless. This whole investigation's a complete waste of time. I mean this isn't even Los Angeles. And you, you're not her. And you certainly aren't him." Lucifer waved his hand and Los Angeles melted and turned into Hell.
Meanwhile, Doug asked, "Wait a second. How do you guys know how Lee died? Are you cops?" Chloe nodded, "Correct, my dirty friend, and why don't you come with us and tell us why you're taking credit for Lee's murder?" Maze saw someone run away from them and shouted, "Looks like we got a runner." Maze ran after the man and Chloe followed, security guards tried to stop them, but Maze took them down. Chloe ran out after the man into the street and the man was hit by two cars and died in the middle of the street, Chloe in shock, "Why did he run?"
In Auradon, Carlos and Jay ran up to where Mal was getting ready and they kicked the door open and Jay said, "It's chaos out there." "What's going on?" Mal asked. "It's Hades," Jay said. "He destroyed the Great Hall. He's responsible for it." "Or so you think," Carlos said. "I think something happened and Hades ran before we could figure out what happened." Audrey groaned, "My decor!" Mal sighed as Jay said, "If it helps, he tried to be friendly. But only with Carlos, apparently." Carlos shrugged, "He seemed tense and I calmed him down before he went inside. Then something must of happened to make him torch the place." Mal sighed as Evie said, "I know how disappointed you are, but we'll be here." Mal shook her head, "Carlos is right. My dad would never purposefully ruin my wedding. This is just some kind of big misunderstanding." "Misunderstanding?" Jay asked. "The wedding is on fire." Carlos elbowed Jay in the ribs, and Jay wheezed, "Carlos….too much." Carlos winced, "Sorry." Evie asked, "And if it was a mistake, why did he run away? Even if his heart is in the right place, maybe it would be smoother if he isn't there." Carlos' eyes flashed red and he growled, "Mal wants him there. We are not going to argue about this!" Evie backed away a little and Mal walked up to Carlos and said, "Thanks, Carlos, but I've got this. Evie, I'm not getting married without him. My father is walking me down that aisle, and I'm gonna find him, and I'm gonna talk to him myself."
She turned to walk away, but Evie and Jay ran after her and Evie said, "M, you're not running off to the Isle on your own!" "Then come with me. If anyone can bring him back, we can." Mal offered. She looked back at Carlos and said, "You too, angel boy." Carlos chuckled and he walked over and put out his fist, "Because we're rotten." Mal, Evie, and Jay put their fists in, "To the core." Audrey then said into her earpiece, "Send out the mini tacos. There's going to be a delay." Mal started to walk out, but Evie said, "Uh, Mal, could we not adventure in these dresses?" Mal nodded and said, "OK. I get it." Carlos pulled out his mother's ring and said, "Allow me." He used an illusion spell to change the Core 4's outfits to their Isle outfits (the ones from the third movie). Mal said, "That's better. Thanks, Carlos." "No problem," Carlos smirked.
"Kind of a problem here," Ella said at the sight of the hit and run outside the casino room. "No ID on your street kebab." Chloe sighed, "Great." Ella smiled, "But I found this on him, a .45." "The same as the one that killed Lee," Chloe realized. Ella nodded, "Yep, and my Spidey-senses tell me this is our murder weapon, but I'll know more when I get back to the lab." Chloe nodded and walked away. Ella looked over to where Doug was being questioned and Maze noticed, "So, want to climb that tree, Ellen?" Ella nervously chuckled, "What are you talking about?" Maze smirked, "I saw that. Maybe you can get him against the wall and spread 'em." Ella replied, "Oh, my God. Maze, that is crazy talk, OK? I'm down with the bad boys. OK?" "Sure," Maze said. "Whatever you say."
Back in Hell as Lucifer and Lee were still in Lee's loop, a woman came up and said, "Lord Morningstar? There's someone you should meet." The woman showed Lucifer that a man came to see him, the man who was just killed, whose name was Gill as he asked, "Where am I?"
Chloe was with Gill's body taking noted as suddenly the corpse started to cough blood, shocking Chloe, and said, "Oh man. I'm so sorry. That's gross. Hey, are you the detective? I'm a demon, and Lord Lucifer sent me to give you a message about the case." "Lucifer," Chloe whispered. "How is he?" The demon shrugged, "He's the King of Hell, so he's great. He wanted me to tell you, it's safe where you stored it." "What?" Chloe asked. "What's safe?" "The thing that you stored?" The demon replied. "Stored?" Chloe asked. "Where?" The demon replied, "I don't know, lady, you're the one that stored it." "Wait, I stored it?" Chloe asked. "Yeah," The demon said. "It's safe where you stored it….Oh crap. This body's too jacked up to keep working. But you got this. Hey, is that Mazikeen?" The corpse collapsed before Chloe could ask more and Ella ran over, "Decker, what the hell? Did you move the body?"
Meanwhile, Lucifer met back up with Lee, "So that's that. Gromos assures me the message was delivered." Lee asked, "So your demon just jumped into that dead guy's body?" Lucifer nodded, "And told the Detective what she needs to know in order to arrest whoever was behind your murder. No need to thank me. Especially since I had to break my rule of possession, even after my demons broke it themselves when they tried to bring Carlos…never mind. So, back to your torture. And me to mine."
Lucifer walked away but Lee said, "Hey, man, um, you keep talking about a detective. Who is she? And you keep talking about someone named Carlos? Who's that?" Lucifer sighed, "They are both people that I left behind a very long time ago." Lee replied, "They seem pretty important." Lucifer said, "More than you can ever know." Lee chuckled, "Hell, I get it. I left people behind, too. People I care about, like my sister Meg. You know, she meant the world to me, and I let her go. Now it's too late. What's your detective's name? And who is Carlos to you?"
Lucifer sighed, "Well, I just used to call her Detective, but her name….Clever, manipulative bastard. Well played. Petty distraction to gain the Devil's sympathy, hoping I'll let you off the hook from your endless torment, huh?" Lee replied, "Ah, man, it ain't like that! You just seem like a really sad devil guy. I mean, OK, you know, maybe a small part of me was hoping that you'd help me out. But I was curious and concerned about this detective and this Carlos guy." Lucifer glared at Lee, "That detective is the best woman I have ever known or cared about and she is a thousand times more important than you. And Carlos, he isn't some guy. He's a kid. My son. And here you are, trying to play me and use them against me so you can get out of here. So how many times do I have to tell you before it penetrates that minuscule mind of yours? This whole thing is your fault!" Lee scoffed, "You know what, man? Screw you! I mean, you would help me out if you wanted to. Thought you were supposed to be the man down here. Ain't you the King of Hell?" Lucifer shook his head, "You really want to know why you're here? Do you? Well, let me show you. We're going on a little trip."
Back in Auradon, Mal, Evie, Carlos, Jay, and Audrey (because she insisted that she came along to keep an eye on the bride) went outside and walked toward the bridge to the Isle. Audrey walked past them and was talking into her phone, "I know. I am doing my best to keep her on schedule. Work with me here. What do you mean the swans have a thing? What could swans possibly have to deal with?" Mal chuckled at Audrey's antics. Suddenly Jane ran up and said, "Carlos, where have you been? I saw what happened at the church and…" "Hey," Carlos said. "It's OK. Everyone is OK. I am OK." Jane hugged Carlos, and the other three took a few steps back to give them a moment. Carlos pulled away and said, "We are going to the Isle to talk to Hades to find out what happened. Why don't you go get your mom and I will keep you updated through text?" Jane asked, "You promise?" Carlos smiled, "I promise." He leaned down and kissed her and Jane reciprocated. Jane pulled away and said, "I'll see you later." She ran off and Carlos sighed. Evie walked over and asked, "She's still worried about you since the demon incident?" Carlos nodded, "Yeah, she is. I can't blame her. I was almost sacrificed to the pits of Hell of take my dad's place. And it took place at a church like ours. So she probably saw the chaos at the church and it brought back the memories. It did for me, too. I can't imagine walking in and seeing the person you love tied to an alter and at death's door. It's heartbreaking." Mal and Jay walked over and pulled everyone into a hug and Carlos whispered, "Thanks, guys."
Audrey ran over and said, "Uh, so I really hate to interrupt this, but you should see this." They all ran after Audrey and they saw the bridge to the Isle in flames. Mal sighed, "Dad." They saw Uma standing on the bridge and they ran over to her and Evie asked, "Uma, what happened?" "Hades happened," Uma answered. "Wow," Jay replied. "When your dad burns bridges, he literally burns bridges." Uma sighed, "Look, I tried to catch him, OK? And get him to chill. But his hair was wild and it was blowing in the wind and set the bridge on fire." Mal stepped forward, "I need to get to the Isle and bring my Dad back." Carlos ran forward and straight into the flames and Evie shouted, "Carlos, no!" But everyone was surprised that the flames didn't harm Carlos and Audrey asked, "How is that possible?" Mal chuckled, "His dad is the Devil. His celestial half makes him invulnerable. It's a recent thing since he left the Isle when it had the barrier and his celestial side slowly came out." Carlos made it to the other side and shouted, "I got through. If you are going to ask Uma for help, do it." Mal looked at Uma, "Please, Uma, can you help?" Uma chuckled, "For the queen on her wedding day, I got you."
Uma jumped off the bridge and into the water and transformed into her sea witch self. She laughed, "Ya'll might wanna stand back! I'm going to douse the entire bridge." Mal, Evie, and Jay ran back to the entrance, but Audrey was still talking on her phone when Uma sent a huge tidal wave and Audrey got soaked as the flames were doused. Carlos had unfurled his angel wings on the other side of the bridge and flown up above the bridge to avoid getting wet. Mal, Evie, and Jay clapped and cheered for Uma and Audrey sarcastically said, "Yea, Uma! You're so great." Carlos flew over to her and said, "Thanks, Uma." "No big deal," Uma said. "Consider it my wedding present. Now Mal, go get your dad. I'll get all your guests back to the reception. And Carlos, seeing you with those wings is weird, but cool." Carlos chuckled as he flew back to the entrance of the Isle. "Thank you, Uma," Evie said. "I'll see you at the wedding," Jay added. Mal said, "Hey, I'm never going to forget this." Uma winked and disappeared under the water. Mal, Evie, Jay, and Audrey ran to catch up with Carlos.
Back in LA, Dan and Trixie were at Linda's house to give Linda some stuff and Linda invited them in, "Shh! Uh, Charlie's just in the middle of his Japanese lesson." "Ah," Dan replied. "Sorry. We'll be extra quiet. Listen, thank you so much for watching Trixie. It's just for a little bit." "And I've been dying to see the baby," Trixie added. Linda nodded, "Of course. Go ahead." Trixie ran over to where Charlie was as Linda said, "You know, Charlie's just so good with children." Dan handed Linda a pile of books, "Also, I've been meaning to return these to you. Thank you for letting me borrow them." "Wow," Linda replied. "So you read all of them?" Dan nodded, "Yeah. Powered though them pretty quick, actually. So insightful. I'm really enjoying learning to live my own truth. Do you have any more?" Linda sighed, "Well, this is all the self-help books I have. Maybe let these, you know, simmer for a bit first."
"Maybe," Dan said. "Japanese, huh?" Linda nodded, "Yeah, well, Charlie got a little tuckered out from yoga, so we had to reschedule Art Appreciation at MOCA for some low-impact language immersion." Dan replied, "Wow, that is some schedule." Linda smiled, "I know, I know. It's a lot of work, but it's all about raising the best child possible. He's special." Dan chuckled, "Yeah. We all think our own kid can walk on water, right?" "I hadn't thought of that," Linda replied seriously. "Cancel swimming lessons." Dan sighed, "You know, one of the things that I've learned from all this work that I've been doing, and being a dad, is that the best part of life, being a parent, is that you get to slow down and enjoy it. Linda, make sure to be present in the moment." Linda nodded, "Oh, I am. Totally present. Wait, what's that sound?" They went over to Charlie's crib as Trixie said, "Listen." Charlie was laughing and Linda said, "That's the first time he's laughed." "Two months," Dan commented. "That is pretty advanced." Trixie smirked, "It's easy. He just likes silly faces." Linda smiled down at Charlie.
Then Trixie took a picture and Linda asked, "What was that for?" "For Carlos," Trixie answered. "I told Carlos that I would send him pictures of life here while he was away. I thought he would like a picture of his cousin. We've been sending pictures back and forth. He sent me this picture of his friends." She showed them a picture of himself, Mal, Evie, and Jay, but Carlos used his illusion magic to make all of them look more normal, mainly the hair. "These are his friends from where he's from," Trixie explained. "This girl is Mal, this girl is Evie, and this guy is Jay. He grew up with them. I like them already." Dan chuckled as Linda said, "Well, I am sure that he would enjoy that picture of his little cousin."
Carlos got that text as he and his friends were walking through the entrance to the Isle. He chuckled and Evie asked, "What are you laughing about?" Carlos turned to the phone to the group and said, "Trixie, Chloe's daughter, sent me a picture of my cousin, Charlie. Linda's watching over her for a bit." Mal and Jay saw and loved seeing Carlos' cute baby cousin. Audrey walked over and said, "Come on. We have to stay on schedule." Everyone sighed and kept walking as Carlos sent a quick text to Trixie then a text to Jane updating her on their situation.
As they were walking, they saw that the Isle has had some updates. "Home sweet home," Mal said. Evie smiled, "I love that the Isle has had a major glow up!" "Yeah," Jay agreed. "It's a lot cleaner now, too." Audrey accidentally stepped in some gum and said, "Define a lot." Carlos looked around and thought, "The Isle really has changed for the better. I wonder if Dad….No, don't think about that, Carlos. What's going on now is more important right now." He kept on walking with his friends towards Hades' hideout.
They arrived and saw that Pain and Panic, Hades' minions, were guarding it. Pain walked forward, "Hold it, hold it. Boss says nobody gets inside." "Wait, what?" Mal replied. "Come on. It's me." Pain shook his head, "Sorry, Mal. Orders is orders." "Hey," Mal retorted. "It's my wedding day." "Oh, yeah," Panic replied. "Happy wedding day." Pain said, "Unfortunately, can't let you in. But congrats on the big day." The two laughed out loud. Mal was starting to get angry and was about to go full dragon on them, but Carlos stopped her, "Wait, Mal. I've got this. No need to go all dragon on your wedding day."
He walked forward and Pain said, "Watch it, De Vil. Step away or we'll make you." Carlos chuckled as his eyes went red and Pain and Panic were startled. Carlos looked up at them and said, "Now, guys. I could just persuade you to step aside. But I'll be nice. I could instead call up my dad's own minion to talk with you. And she has a thing for knives." "Your dad?" Panic asked. "Lucifer Morningstar," Carlos answered. "Also known as the Devil." Pain and Panic started to shake with fear as Carlos continued, "And his minion, Maze, even though she doesn't like being called a minion, is his head demon. And demons are much stronger than you two are. Her speciality is torture. And she would love to torture you two. Bring out her demon blades and play with the two of you all day." Panic screamed, "OK, OK, we give. We'll let you guys through." "Just don't call your dad's demon lady," Pain whimpered. "We don't want to be tortured with knives."
They ran away in fear as Hades suddenly came out and shouted, "Whoa, Mal….Mal? You're not in dragon form. So what happened?" He turned to see Carlos with red eyes and sighed, "Ah, so it was you. The whole red eyes thing is new. What did you do to my minions?" Carlos smirked as his eyes returned to normal, "I just told your minions about my dad's demon and how she loves to torture people like them. And they learned that they shouldn't mess with the son of the Devil." "Your dad?" Hades asked. "You've learned who your dad is? Demons? Devil? Like your mom?" Mal walked forward, "Hi, Dad. Carlos means the actual Devil. That's his dad. He found him in another dimension of Earth. He's been there for months and recently came back." "Yea," Carlos agreed. "Basically my dad is the another Earth's equivalent of you, as he is the King of Hell." "I know," Hades said. "I thought he showed up him years ago, but I wasn't sure. Now I know that he was here and what he did while he was here. So that's why you've got the power boost now. Interesting. I thought you felt and smelled different. You're half celestial." Carlos nodded as Mal said, "We need to talk."
Back in LA at LAPD, Chloe, Ella, and Maze were going over the evidence and Ella said, "Prints off our squashed possum came back to Vernon Gill, 37, known hit man, working contracts for small-time criminal organizations, and my hunch was on point. Striations from the gun I found on him match the bullet that killed Lee Garner." Maze added, "And I also found 20 grand in cash in the trunk of that guy's car. That's the going rate for a contract hit. So Gil pulled the trigger, but then who paid him to kill Lee?" "Maybe Dirty Doug hired him?" Ella suggested. "Doubtful," Maze said. "I spoke to Ellen's boyfriend. He came in last night and Gill said he threatened him for taking credit for Lee's murder. Said it was bad for business. Then he joined a poker game. Someone else hired Gill." "He's not my boyfriend," Ella retorted. Chloe hummed, "Huh. OK. Um, well, I may have a lead." Maze turned to Chloe, "You found a lead without me? Where?" Chloe gave Maze a look, "Um, I can't exactly say." Ella smirked, "Oh! Confidential informant. Right. You got to protect your peeps. Ride or die, man. Respect."
Chloe nodded as Maze said, "So about this lead. Chloe said, "It….. "It's safe where you stored it." That's all I got." "Where I stored what?" Ella asked. Maze added, "Wait, did you store it or did she store it?" Chloe said, "You stored it, and it's safe." Maze chuckled, "What did I store, though?" Chloe shook her head, "No, not you." "Who stored what?" Maze replied. "I'm so confused." "I'm confused, too," Chloe retorted. "That's why I'm sharing this." Ella suddenly got an idea and pulled out a file, "Yes! I knew that sounded familiar. Lee's credit card statements. He was making regular payments to a storage facility in Pacoima called You Stored It." "Amazing," Chloe replied. "Good. All right, let's go check it out." Maze stared at Chloe, "So what CI gave you this lead?" Chloe saw that Ella left the room and said, "Something very weird happened with Gill's corpse."
Back in Hell, Lee and Lucifer were driving around in the loop as they were driving through a neighborhood and Lee parked, "I used to have a car just like this. Wait, this is my car. Where are we?" Lucifer answered, "The root of your Hell loop." Lee looked over and saw a house, "Oh, no, not here."
Chloe and Maze got to the storage facility and Maze asked, "So why didn't you tell me about the demon? Maimed bodies, demons from Hell, it's kind of my jam, Chloe." Chloe sighed, "Yeah, I'm sorry. It just happened really fast, and it caught me off guard hearing from Lucifer like that." They got to Lee's storage facility and Chloe said, "It's open." Chloe pulled out a flashlight and looked around, when Maze felt someone behind her with a gun and Maze elbowed the persona and flipped them over to reveal Meg, Lee's sister.
Over at Lux, Dan was stationed at a table with an earpiece as Amenadiel was talking with the drug dealer, "All right, Kyle. If you're gonna keep selling in my place, man, why don't we lay down some ground rules?" Kyle scoffed, "I prefer the way the old management did things. It was more of a hands-off policy. Even if things slowed down when that kid started playing here. Stupid kid." "Watch it," Amenadiel said. "That kid is my nephew. Now, the past is the past, Kyle. I'm here to talk about the future, bro. So I suggest you evolve." Kyle sighed, "So how is this supposed to work, then?" Amenadiel answered, "Going forward, I'm gonna take 20% off the top of everything you sell. That's the deal. That's the only deal." Kyle shrugged, "Whatever. This place is bumping so hard, we're both gonna make a killing." Amenadiel stopped him, "Not so fast, little man. If you're going to be selling drugs in my place, see, I need to know that it's top shelf product, you feel me?" "I feel you," Kyle replied. Amenadiel nodded, "All right, let's see it." Kyle then pulled out some pills and said, "There's more where that came from." "Looks like good drugs," Amenadiel commented.
Suddenly Dan popped out with his gun and shouted, "Police! Show me your hands. Don't move." Another officer came in as Dan took the backpack Kyle had but came up with nothing, "What the hell?" "Who's your supplier?" Amenadiel asked. Kyle stuttered, "There is none." "Where did you get the drugs from?" "My mom," Kyle answered. "She just had back surgery." Dan sighed, "There's nothing here. Just the one baggie." Amenadiel growled, "You just said there was more, so where?" Kyle stuttered, "I was maybe gonna hit up my grandpa. He's getting his gall bladder removed."
Dan sent all the cops home but they did arrest Kyle as he was reselling pharmaceutical drugs. Amenadiel stood at the bar and Dan walked over. Amenadiel sighed, "Dan, I was just trying to make the world a safer place for…" "For Charlie and Carlos," Dan finished. "I know. It's a crazy thing, being a parent. Even an uncle. When Trixie was born, I tried to be Supercop, and round up all the criminals I could. Then I realized, removing all the danger in the world is like trying to bottle up the ocean. You want to keep Charlie and Carlos safe? Just be there for them. Be a good dad and uncle." Dan walked away as Amenadiel thought about being a good uncle, and more importantly, a good father to Charlie.
Speaking of fathers, Hades led the Core 4 and Audrey inside his home and they were surprised to see Ben sitting in a chair and Ben saw Mal and shouted, "Mal!" "Ben!" Mal ran over and pulled Ben into a hug. She pulled back and said, "Hey, you're not supposed to see me." Evie ran forward, "Whoa! Close your eyes. Bad luck." "What are you doing here?" Mal asked. Ben answered, "Getting this guy back to the ceremony. Even if I have to drag him by his freaky blue hair or appeal to him with logic and reason." "Or I could persuade him," Carlos said. Hades scoffed, "How?" Carlos smirked and said, "I'll show you. Hades, go over and touch that lamp." Hades chuckled, but then found his body obeying Carlos' command and he went over to the lamp on the other side of the room and touched it. Carlos smirked, "See? Told ya."
Ben turned to Mal, "I knew you would want him to be there no matter what he did. Oh, and I caught your mom too." He pulled the lizard out of his pocket as Hades said, "That's her, all right. I'd recognize those cold, dead eyes anywhere. Looking good, Maleficent." Mal walked over to Hades, "Dad, please come back. You know how much it means to me to have you there." Hades sighed, "And I wanted to be there, believe me. But I still terrify people. I can't help it. Especially when I lose control. All right, look in my heart, I'm still a ruthless villain, but I'm not ruthless enough to ruin the happiest day of your life. I'm sorry." Mal replied, "You don't have to be. I know what happened wasn't your fault."
Hades then explained, "It really wasn't. I'm not a fool. I know everyone expects the worst of me. But I didn't want to ruin your day. So I did my best to be friendly, to keep cool. Until that dog of Carlos' ran after Maleficent and she climbed up onto the wall. I thought if I helped, it would ease the tension, but that dog got jealous and bit me. I yelped in pain and my hair was aflame and it caught the banners on fire. I tried to put it out. I really tried to put it out, but to no success. Then Chad shouted that he was on fire. But full disclosure, Chad wasn't on fire, but I couldn't resist because he's the worst. So that one's on me. I took one of the vases and threw the water in it on him. I know, I ruined everything, but I swear it wasn't on purpose."
Mal looked up at her dad, "Dad, I never thought for a moment that you did it on purpose. And Carlos knew too as he was the one to get all the smoke out with those wings of his." Hades looked up and Carlos unfurled his angel wings as proof and winked. Mal continued, "It's not going to be my happiest day if you're not there. I want to be surrounded by the people that I love. And that means you." Hades sighed, "I don't know…"
"Hades." Carlos stepped forward and said, "Mal is lucky to have a dad who can be there for her. I know that you want to make up for lost time. My dad was the same when he found out that I existed. You are here now and can be their for your daughter. She wants you there, like…" Carlos looked down and started to tear up and Hades noticed. Evie walked forward and hugged Carlos while explaining, "To make a long story short, Lucifer recently had to return to Hell to prevent a demon uprising after they almost made Carlos their new King. He did it to protect his son, but Carlos doesn't know when he will be able to see his dad again." "He misses him a lot," Jay added. Hades sighed and said, "Don't look so glum, kid. I'm sure your old man will return soon." Carlos looked up and smiled. Mal then said, "And I want you to return to the wedding. Because I love you and I want you there." Mal turned and said to her lizard mom, "And I love you, Mom. Whether you have skin or scales. Or you fit in my pocket or breathe fire. And even after everything you put me through growing up. No matter what, you'll always be my mom." Hades pulled Mal into a hug as Carlos thought, "I don't know if I'll ever say that about my mom. I don't know if I will ever forgive her for what she did to me." Jay and Evie sensed what Carlos was thinking and pulled Carlos into a hug and Evie whispered, "I know you aren't on good terms with your mom. It's OK if you can't forgive her now or ever." "We're with you, pal," Jay added.
Suddenly a bright light lit up the room and everyone looked up to see Fairy Godmother, Ben's parents, Dude, and Jane standing there. "There you are!" Fairy Godmother said. "Thank you Jane for letting me know." "You're welcome Mom," Jane said. Ben's parents, Adam and Belle, ran over and hugged Ben and Mal as Adam said, "Oh you guys! We were so worried about you." Audrey then walked forward and said, "OK, yes, very emotional. Loving it. But tick-tock people!" Fairy Godmother walked forward, "Chop-chop! Let's hustle, everybody." She was about to wave her wand, but Ben stopped her, "Hold on. Mal, you want to be married surrounded by the people you love. So do I and here they are. Hades, we love you. I want you to feel welcome. Mal, I want you to enjoy every moment of today. So what do you say? Will you marry me here? Right now?" Mal teared up, "Yes, that would be perfect."
Audrey ran forward, "Wait, wait, wait. No, no, no. The orchestra! The swans! The fireworks!" "The dress," Evie sighed. Fairy Godmother waved her wand and Mal was suddenly in her wedding dress, "Kind of what I do." Audrey stepped forward, Hey, FG. Do you think you could help with the atmosphere, because this place, eww." Jane chuckled as Fairy Godmother waved her wand and suddenly they were in a forest. Audrey nodded, "OK, I can work with this. It just needs a little…" "VK Flare?" Evie asked. "That is exactly what it needs," Mal said. "I'm on it," Carlos said as he pulled out his mother's ring and used its illusion magic to make the place look like a VK wedding. Mal walked over and hugged Carlos, "It looks perfect." Everyone got into positions as Mal felt a song come in her heart along with everyone else,
(Mal)
You don't know you've been looking 'til you find it
(Evie)
Don't know what you've been missing 'til it's there
(Carlos)
It's stronger than a spell, it's magic in itself
(Jay)
It's an ever after like you've never felt
(Mal)
It's the sum of the times of your life
It's the person you're standing beside
And it's the pride that you're feeling inside
I'm feeling the la-la-love
La-la-love
You make me feel alive
True love you can't deny
(Evie, Carlos, Jay, Jane, Audrey)
I'm feeling that dream come true
Here with you
And love is around us too
Ooh, and I feel the love
(Mal and Hades)
The journey might not always be that easy
Twists and turns can take you anywhere
Together or apart, you gotta trust your heart 'cause
The power of true love will get you there
Yeah, it's the sum of the times of your life
And it's the person you're standing beside
Yeah, it's the pride that you're feeling inside
From where you are
And it's just the start
(Everyone)
I'm feeling the la-la-love
La-a-love
You make me feel alive
True love you can't deny
I'm feeling that dream come true
Here with you
And love is around us too
Ooh, and I feel the love
The wedding began as Jay walked Audrey down the aisle, Carlos walked Jane, and Evie walked with Dude. Ben stood next to his parents and Fairy Godmother was the officiant. Hades had Maleficent on his shoulder as he walked Mal down the aisle and gave her away to Ben. Jay got the rings out and gave Ben Mal's as he recited, "Mal Bertha, with this ring, I pledge everything that I have to you. My life, my kingdom, my heart. I promise to always be there for you, to accept everything that you are and to always put you first." Evie got the other ring from Jay and gave Mal Ben's ring and Mal recited, "With this ring, I pledge to you all the days of my life, all of my burdens and all of my joys. I promise to be my best for you, to sharer all my secrets, and to keep yours and to choose good always." Fairy Godmother then said, "Do you, Ben, take Mal to be your wife, to love and cherish forever?" "I do," Ben replied. Fairy Godmother turned to Mal, "Do you, Mal, take Benn to be your husband, to love and cherish forever?" "I do," Mal replied. Fairy Godmother smiled, "By the power vested in my, I now pronounce you husband and wife!" Ben and Mal took their first kiss as a married couple as Fairy Godmother waved her wand and everyone was magically transported to the reception hall where the other guests were waiting. The reception then started and everyone got out onto the dance floor and danced and sang,
(Mal and Ben)
For good and for better I found my forever
I can't wait to know where our story goes
This moment, this feeling is one you can't measure
(Mal)
I'm feelin' it
(Ben)
I'm feelin' it
(Mal and Ben)
Are you feelin' it?
(Everyone)
I'm feeling the la-la-love
La-la-love
You make me feel alive
True love you can't deny
I'm feeling that dream come true
Here with you
And love is around us too
Ooh, and I feel the love
(Mal)
I'm feeling the la-la-love
La-la-love
I'm feeling the la-la-love
Back in Hell, Lee was getting out of his car, along with Lucifer, as he looked into a house where a baby shower was taking place and love was in the air. "How could you bring me here?" Lee asked. "So you recognize it?" Lucifer asked. "Of course you do, it's your memories." "This is my parents' house," Lee revealed. "The house I grew up in. I haven't been here in 15 years. Meg, she just had a baby, my niece. This was her baby shower. I mean, this was the last time my whole family got together. My mom, she got sick right after it. She died. My dad followed right after. This was my last chance, and I didn't go inside."
Chloe and Maze were still in Lee's storage unit as Meg explained why she was there, "I found this place and these credit crd receipts. I kept wondering why they would take his hand. Then I saw the biometric safe." "They used his hand to open it," Chloe realized. "Must have been where he kept all his money," Meg continued. Chloe then realized, "The safe at Your Stored It. That's what Lucifer was trying to tell me. It's all about the safe." "Who else knew about it?" Maze asked Meg. Meg sighed, "I don't know. His old crew maybe?" He was pretty tight with them." Chloe said, "Someone must have hired Gill to kill Lee and use his hand to get the money." "And what we're you gonna do with that gun?" Maze asked. "I heard you guys coming," Meg answered. "I freaked. I grabbed Lee's gun to defend myself. I thought it might have been….I don't know, his killer coming back? Honestly, I don't know what I would've done if it had been Lee's killer. I was just so angry." Chloe then said, "It's a lot of legwork to do for a brother that you've already written off." "Yeah," Meg sighed. "I kept telling myself it didn't matter, I didn't care that he was gone, but his death's drugged up a lot of emotions. The truth is…" "That you still miss him?" Chloe finished for her. Meg nodded, "I spent every day expecting him to walk through the door. Guess now I finally have to accept he's never coming home." Chloe then said, "All right. I'll take you home." Meg nodded, "I'd like to grab some of Lee's things, if that's OK."
"Yeah, go ahead," Chloe said as she and Maze stepped out and to the side to give Meg some privacy. "So what's next?" Maze asked. "We gonna crack some skulls, track down Lee's old crew?" Chloe stopped her, "Uh, Maze, actually, I think I want to just take a beat to process some things." "What's wrong?" Maze asked. Chloe sighed, "Well, I think that I've been avoiding dealing with the fact that Lucifer may not come back. Even if he promised me and Carlos." "Or," Maze suggested. "You figured out that you don't need him. We don't need him, or anyone. Chloe, you and I, we're good." Maze then tried to kiss her, but Chloe pushed her away and said, "Maze, the thing is, I'm not good. I know that Carlos isn't good. And I don't think you're good, either. I don't know exactly what happened with you and Eve…" "This isn't about Eve," Maze interrupted. "OK, this isn't about Eve, this is about what's right in front of us. Right here, right now, you and me. No Lucifer. And no Carlos to watch over." Chloe sighed, "Maze, I know what it feels like to be abandoned. You know, I mean, I've been throwing myself into work, texting with Carlos just to keep an eye on him, and going out with you so that I don't have to face it and I just think maybe you and I are using this partnership to fill a void that someone else has left behind. So I think that it's best if we step back from working together." Maze sighed, "Yeah, good idea." She then turned and walked away.
"Ah, the wonders of Hell," Lucifer told Lee. "So your sister's baby shower, huh? What a joyous occasion, full of warmth and happiness. Truly a celebration of life. So go on, then. Go inside." Lee stuttered, "I can't." Lucifer chuckled, "Of course you can. It'd e so simple. Just open the door and walk in." Lee sighed, "They don't want me in there." "But they invited you, didn't they?" Lucifer asked. "Well, they didn't mean it," Lee argued. Lucifer laughed, "Oh, come on. Excuses! They're like arseholes, everybody's got one, but nobody wants to hear it." "I'm not making excuses for anything," Lee retorted. "No?" Lucifer asked. "Well, your whole family is sin there, yet you're here. Why? Is it because you're afraid?" "Afraid?" Lee asked. "Why would I be afraid to see my own family?" Lucifer replied, "Because you know if you go through that door, it's only a matter of time before you screw up again, isn't it? Might take two days, two months, two years, but it's gonna happen. You're gonna rob a back to steal a car, pawn a family heirloom. It is inevitable. Sooner or later, you are going to disappoint them all over again! And so you'd rather stay away for all eternity. No matter what you promise." Lee sighed, "You're right. It's true, all of it." "It is," Lucifer whispered. Lee got confused, "Hey, this isn't just about me, is it? Whose Hell is this anyway?"
Meanwhile, Chloe took Meg home and Meg let her come inside for a bit as Meg told stories about Lee, "And then Lee took me to see Saw. It was our first R-rated movie. I was…" She stopped and Chloe saw what stopped her: Lee's hand was sitting on the countertop. Suddenly they heard a gun and they turned to see a man standing there, who said, "You, put your gun on the counter. Do it now." Chloe pulled out her gun and put it on the counter, "All right. Let's just all stay calm." Meg recognized the man, "You're Rod. You used to room with Lee. Did you kill him?" Rod sighed, "That loser brother of yours gave us no choice. He still owes us our cut from our last job. Now, where's the money from the safe?" "You don't have it?" Chloe asked. Rod revealed, "The safe was empty when we got there." Meg started to laugh and Rod asked, "What the hell's so funny?" Meg chuckled, "I mean, of course it's gone. You knew my brother. He probably thought he could double it at a casino, or, I don't know, spend it on that stupid boat." Rod fired off a warning shot, "Quit stalling and give us the money." "I've got the money," Chloe lied. "It's right here. It's in the bag." She reached in and actually fired her hidden gun, which hit Rod and he fell to the ground.
Suddenly more gunmen came in and started to shoot. "Get down!" Chloe shouted and she and Meg took cover from the gunshots.
"Are you sure this is my Hell?" Lee asked Lucifer. "Who else's would it be?" Lucifer asked. Lee shrugged, "I don't know, but I'm thinking you're just here torturing yourself." Lucifer chuckled, "Preposterous. Have yo forgotten this is your Hell loop? How does this have anything to do with me?" Lee sighed, "I'm just saying. You could have chose any moment to torture me, but you chose this one." Lucifer retorted, "But that's because this is obviously the most painful moment for you." "Right," Lee replied. "And for sure this doesn't resonate with you at all. Because of your detective. Because of your kid." Lucifer growled, "This has nothing to do with me. I am here because I'm the King of Hell. This is my job. This is my duty." "Now who's making excuses?" Lee asked. "But I should know, right? I mean, I spent my whole life making them, and a million BS reasons why I went 15 years without talking to my family. I mean, the truth is I should have just got out of the damn car and walked through that door. I missed my chance. What about you?" Lucifer scoffed, "The self-centered simplicity of you humans never ceases to amaze me. How can you presume to compare yourself to me? I am here out of responsibility. Demons were in full revolt. I had to protect humanity. I had to protect her. I had to protect my son from being sacrificed by my rebellious demons so that he would be forced to take my place!" "Lord Morningstar!" A demon called out. Lucifer turned and shouted, "What?" The demon held Rod, "He's got news about that detective."
The gunfight was still going on as Chloe told Meg, "Come here. They're gonna stop shooting and they're gonna have to reload. That's when you're gonna run. I'll draw their fire. You ready?" Meg shook her head, "No, I can't." Chloe replied, "Meg, listen to me. You can do this. We're not gonna die here. Get ready." Suddenly they heard whistling and surprisingly in walked Lucifer who said, "Hello, bad guys. I hope I'm not late to the party." Lucifer started to fight off the gunmen and Chloe joined as Meg made a ran for it. Lucifer and Chloe took out the gunmen quickly. Lucifer turned to Chloe, "Thought you could use a hand, but looks like someone beat me to it." He walked over to Chloe, and Chloe kissed him, which Lucifer reciprocated. Chloe pulled away with a confused expression, "Lucifer, is everything OK? You seem different." Lucifer sighed, "Well, for you, it's only been a couple of months, but down there, time is different. For me it's been thousands of years. But the only thing that kept me going was thinking of you." Chloe then pulled Lucifer into a hug.
Everything seemed to be going well for people, Amenadiel went back home to be with Linda and Charlie, Dan seemed happy with his life and moving on from Charlotte. And iffy for others, like Ella did have sex with Dirty Doug, and Maze went to Lucifer's penthouse and destroyed his piano in fury.
"So you're not going to go up there and help out your lady friend?" Lee asked Lucifer back in Hell. Lucifer sighed, "I have every faith in the Detective. She's quite capable of taking care of herself. I am exactly where I belong. She'll be just fine without me."
Which revealed that the person with Chloe was not actually Lucifer, but a fake one, who smiles evilly as Chloe was hugging him.
Lee then asked, "What about your kid?" Lucifer sighed as he pulled out the blue stone and said, "My son is back where he's from, safe from this Earth." "This Earth?" Lee asked. Suddenly the blue stone simmered and the loop scene changed to that of the royal ballroom in Auradon. "What the Hell?" Lee looked around. Lucifer didn't recognize the place either and he waved his hand to get a person's attention, but his hand passed through the person and he realized, "It's a vision." Lucifer said. He looked over and saw Carlos standing next to who he guessed was Mal, Evie, and Jay. Lucifer noticed the wedding dress Mal was wearing and deduced, "This must be a wedding my son is at." He walked over to where his son was as Jay pulled out a box and said, "Here, Mal. This is our wedding present to you." Mal got teary eyed and took the box and opened it to reveal a charm bracelet. Evie explained, "It's a charm bracelet with all of our crests on it." Carlos added, "So that no matter where we are or where we go in the future, we will always be together forever." Mal cried, "Thank you guys. I will cherish it always." They all hugged each other. Lee walked up and asked, "Your son, I guess?" Lucifer nodded, "He's the one with the white hair with dark roots. He gets it from his mother. He seems happy and doesn't need me now." Lucifer walked away and Lee noticed Carlos pull out of the hug and look in Lucifer's direction, as if Carlos felt something was there. Lee whispered, "I doubt that." Lucifer waved his hand and the vision disappeared and Lucifer said, "So there is that. The Detective and Carlos are fine without me." Lee sighed, "Whatever you want to think. You do you. But I will say this. I think you're wrong. Don't be blind to this." Lee walked away as Lucifer held the blue stone in his hand and he heard Carlos' voice in his head, "Dad. I have faith that we'll see each other again. Promise me." Lucifer started to tear up.
Back in Auradon, after a few hours at the reception, Mal and Ben quietly took their leave and Carlos found himself standing out on the balcony next to the ballroom. He was staring out to the water and saw the Isle. He sighed as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the angel feather that his Dad gave him. He always kept it on him so he felt like his dad was close by, even if he wasn't. He was sure that he felt his dad's presence in the ballroom earlier, like his dad was watching him. A few tears fell down Carlos' cheeks and he cried softly. Jane came out and said, "There you are. I was looking all over for you." Carlos put the angel feather away and dried his tears, "Hey, Jane. I just needed some fresh air. And I needed some space from Dude after I scolded him about biting Hades." Jane saw through him and said, "I know what this is about. You're thinking about your dad again?" Carlos nodded, "Nothing ever gets past you." Jane smirked, "I know. But, Carlos, I know it's hard but you need to keep the faith you have that you'll see him again. Like you told me. At least your dad's still around." Carlos sobered up, "I know. And I'm sorry that your dad isn't here anymore." Jane sighed, "I know. It was hard for me to move on when he died. But I knew that one day, I would see him again in another place. And I have faith in that. You should to." Carlos nodded and Jane kissed Carlos. She pulled back and said, "Come back to the party. Just for a bit. Then we can go do something together. OK?" Carlos nodded and Jane walked back inside.
Carlos looked back out to the sea when he heard his phone go over. He pulled it out and was surprised to see Chloe's number, so he answered it, "Hello?" "Carlos," Chloe said. "It's Chloe." "Hey, Chloe," Carlos said. "What's up?" "Well," Chloe answered. "Something happened here in LA. And it involves your dad. Kind of…."
