Warning: Death

Hazel impatiently whipped around, waiting for the Cyclops to get closer so she could start attacking it. The monstrosity reached out towards her again and she could slice it with her sword. A sickly colored blood oozed out of the Cyclops's wound.

Suddenly Hazel heard a loud thunk. An arrow embedded itself into the Cyclops's hand. Blinking with surprise, Hazel realized she recognized the shaft.

"Frank?!" she shouted, staring in awe at the son of Mars, who showed up just in time to join in on the combat.

"Hey, Hazel!" Frank yelled in responde, running towards Hazel eagerly. "I'm sorry about earlier! Good job finding the Cyclops though! You've been doing a great j-"

Hazel screamed as a huge hand reached over towards Frank, who had his back turned to the Cyclops while he was talking to Hazel. The bow in his hand flew to the side as the boy was thrown forward, his back arched back painfully and he smacked into the ground. Blood splattered out of his mouth.

Heart racing and blinded by fear and rage, Hazel lunged toward the Cyclops, slicing through his used-to-be-uninjured hand and diving a sword at his bare chest. The Cyclops however, had seen the attack coming and hit Hazel with the inside of his arm. Stunned and dazed, Hazel tipped sideways toward the ground, her vision of the monster blurred and spotty as it lifted her up with its bloodied hands toward its mouth.

Hazel was reminded of just a few days ago, when everyone was relaxing in the Argo II. Percy and Annabeth were in one of their cabins, "planning their route" which amounted to deciding when to take rest stops along the trip and most likely kissing the rest of the time. The rest of them, Frank, Leo, Jason, and Piper were in the lounge area watching the TV Leo had set up. It was movie-theatre sized, and Hazel knew Leo was proud of having built it. But nobody could decide on what to watch. Piper and Jason wanted a romantic comedy (bleh!) while Leo was trying to convince them to watch Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (which wasn't a bad movie, it was just the fifteenth time Leo had tried to make everyone watch it). Hazel sided with Frank, wanting an action movie with a ton of explosions and fight scenes.

They agreed to Iris message Coach Hedge and get his opinion, and to know one's surprise, he suggested a particularly gorey and violent anime.

"Attack on Titan? You sure?" Frank asked.

"We should ask Percabeth if they want to watch too. They did fight some titans after all, right?" suggested Piper.

"It might bring back some ptsd about the war or something," Jason argued, "And I also don't want to have to go down to their cabins and have to see whatever they're doing in there now that Coach isn't around to yell at them."

Hazel blushed, fanning her face with embarrassment. "I'm sure they're not doing anything naughty, Jason! They told me themselves it was just kissing. And even without Coach, Buford the table has been good at yelling about it too."

"That's my table," Leo said proudly, leaning back in his seat. "Let's just try it and see."

The group never watched past the second episode before they decided to stop. Frank was probably scarred for life. Jason was clinging to Piper like a scared koala. Hazel didn't really like it either, but she'd seen a lot worse in real life.

She noticed Leo out of the corner of her eye. Though he was sitting comfortably with his legs up and his arms back behind his head, his expression gave away his nervousness.

"Maybe let's not listen to Coach Hedge next time," Piper said, earning herself a chorus of agreement.

"Too realistic. They kinda look like some of the giants." Frank said, planting that horrifying image in their brains.

Now here Hazel was, feeling exactly like all those people in the Survey Corps, going out into the world on missions until they are ultimately eaten.

If this monster ate her, how were they supposed to complete the quest? What would happen to Arion? Would Leo be okay? She knew he was struggling. What about Frank?

She cried out in pain as she felt the Cyclop's teeth closing around her. Despite all the blood and pain, she turned her head to look at Frank one last time. She mouthed the words I love you.

Frank's eyes filled with tears and what started off as a bit of a deep warble turned into a shaky scream. Hazel smiled and closed her eyes until Frank's scream was cut off, and she didn't feel anything.
